87.
“We have not discussed that internally right now,” Riley said in a press conference on Monday (via ESPN). “We have to look at making that kind of commitment and when do we do it. We don’t have to do it until 2025, actually. But we’ll see. We haven’t made a decision on it, and we haven’t really in earnest discussed it.”

 88.
Butler will likely ask for a two-year contract extension this summer. Butler’s new deal would guarantee him as much as $113 million for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 seasons.

 94.
To say Riley didn’t like the comments would be an understatement.

 95.
“I thought, ‘Is that Jimmy trolling or is that Jimmy serious,'” Riley said. “If you’re not on the court playing against Boston or on the court playing against the New York Knicks, you should keep your mouth shut on the criticism of those teams.”

 128.

 129.

The Los Angeles Chargers are bolstering their receiver room. They have reportedly agreed to terms with wide receiver, D.J. Chark. Chark is a six-year veteran who will bring some welcome experience to an inexperienced receiver room. Especially after the team cut ties with Keenan Allen and Mike Williams this offseason. Chark has not quite found true NFL home for the past couple of years, but his role could expand with the Chargers given the youth on the wide receiver depth chart. While this may not be the splashiest signing of the offseason, it certainly could be one that is looked back on as one of the underrated moves.

 130.
D.J. Chark, Chargers Agree to Deal

 131.
D.J. Chark’s Career

 132.
Chark has struggled finding a consistent role ever since his first four seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Much of this can be attributed to nagging injuries. The veteran struggled to settle in with the Detroit Lions and the Carolina Panthers. While he is older now, Chark can still have a positive impact in the correct environment. For his career, Chark has logged 212 receptions, 3,069 receiving yards, and 23 touchdowns. His best year came in the 2019 season when he made the Pro-Bowl. That year, Chark recorded totals of 73 catches on 118 targets, 1,008 receiving yards, 13.8 yards per reception, and 67.2 receiving yards per game. The former Jacksonville Jaguar may not quite reach these numbers again in his career. However, he can still have a significant impact, especially with Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers.

 133.
A New-Look Receiver Room for the Los Angeles Chargers

 134.
As alluded to already, the Chargers cleaned house in the receiving department this offseason. With the team bringing in Jim Harbaugh and Greg Roman, expect the Chargers to have a run-heavy offense. Considering this, D.J. Chark will most likely not crack 1,000 receiving yards this year. However, his veteran leadership will be valuable to the offense, especially with the youth on the roster. Not to mention, Chark will serve as a reliable security blanket for quarterback, Justin Herbert. He is also still reliable in making huge plays downfield. If the sixth-year wide receiver can remain healthy throughout the season, the Chargers will have made one of the more underrated signings of free agency. This may not be the most noteworthy signing, but the Chargers have made plenty of other under-the-radar signings this offseason. If all goes right and he can conquer his injury demons, D.J. Chark could have a new true home in the NFL.

So, it was a huge thing for me and a big thing to get. It’s always been really important and I’m glad it’s finally official.”

 171.
Wembanyama can collect some more hardware as a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year, along with Minnesota’s Rudy Gobert and Miami’s Bam Adebayo.

 188.

The Dallas Stars are in the second round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs. On Sunday evening the Stars beat the Vegas Golden Knights 2-1 in the seventh game of the first round of the playoffs from American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. The Dallas win over Vegas means that there will be a new Stanley Cup champion this year and the Golden Knights will no longer be able to defend as Stanley Cup champions.

 189.
Game 7 Summary

 190.
The Dallas Stars were the only team to score a goal in the first period. Wyatt Johnston of Toronto, Ontario, who was the overtime hero in game three, opened the scoring in game one with an unassisted marker at 14:34. Golden Knights defenseman Shea Theodore unsuccessfully tried to clear the puck out of the Vegas zone on a clearing attempt. The puck was then tipped by Golden Knights forward Tomas Hertl before landing on Johnston’s stick. Johnston stick-handled the puck briefly before scoring past Golden Knights goaltender Adin Hill.

 191.
The Golden Knights tied the game at one for the only goal in the second period. Brett Howden of Calgary, Alberta scored from Michael Amadio of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and William Karlsson of Marsta, Sweden at 15;25 of the middle frame for the Golden Knights’s only goal of the contest.

 192.
The Stars won the game very early in the third period. Radek Faksa of Vitkov, Czech Republic scored from Craig Smith of Madison, Wisconsin and defenseman Thomas Harley of Syracuse, New York at the 44 second mark.

 193.
Faksa’s three other playoff game-winning goals

 194.
For Faksa this was his fourth game-winning goal in the postseason in his career. He previously scored the game-winner in his very first postseason game, a 4-0 Dallas win over the Minnesota Wild on April 14, 2016, in game one of the first round. Faksa then scored another game-winner in game one of the second round, a 2-1 Dallas win over the St. Louis Blues on April 29, 2016. Then Faksa’s third postseason game-winner was in the Edmonton bubble on August 20, 2020. Faksa scored from right winger Denis Gurianov of Togliatti, Russia and defenseman Miro Heiskanen of Espoo, Finland in a 7-3 Stars win over the Calgary Flames, in game six of the first round. With the seventh game win, they will next play the Colorado Avalanche.

 213.

For the third time in the history of the franchise, the New York Rangers have won five straight playoff games. They accomplished the feat on Sunday in game one of the second round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Rangers defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 4-3.

 214.
Rangers unbeaten in the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs

 215.
The Rangers have won all five playoff games they have played to date. New York swept the Washington Capitals in the opening round by scores of 4-1, 4-3, 3-1, and 4-2. In all, they have outscored their opposition 19-10.

 216.
When did the Rangers win five straight postseason games before?

 217.
The Rangers first won five straight playoff games in 1937. They defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs twice in the first round, the Montreal Maroons twice in the semifinals, and the Detroit Red Wings 5-1 in game one of the 1937 Stanley Cup Finals. They would eventually lose the Stanley Cup Finals to the Red Wings in five games. At the time, the Stanley Cup Finals were a best of five.

 218.
The Rangers next won seven straight playoff games in 1994. This was the last year they won the Stanley Cup. New York won their first seven Stanley Cup playoff games three decades ago. They swept the New York Islanders in four games in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals by scores of 6-0 twice, 5-1, and 5-2. The Rangers then beat the Washington Capitals in the first three games in the Eastern Conference Semifinals by scores of 6-3, 5-2 and 3-0.

 219.
Inside Look of Game 1

 220.
The Rangers were led in Game 1 by Mika Zibanejad of Huddinge, Sweden, who had two goals and one assist for three points. Americans Vincent Trocheck of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Chris Kreider of Boxford, Massachusetts each had multi-point games as Trocheck had one goal and one assist for two points, and Kreider had two assists. The other Rangers goal scorer was Artemi Panarin of Korkino, Russia.

 244.
The opener occurred during the 150th running of the Kentucky Derby on Saturday as Mystik Dan was crowned victorious.

 245.
The closer came about as Larson edged Buescher by 0.001 seconds, claiming the rain-delayed AdventHealth 400 in overtime creating the closest finish in circuit history.

 246.
Buscher endured an up-and-down event. After executing a gutsy, five-wide move, the driver of the No. 17 Ford was forced to rally from a pit-road incident to appear to the Fox Sports announcers that he beat Larson to the start/finish line.

 247.
Fox Sports’ Mike Joy had the call at the finish: “Coming to the line … crash together … I believe … Buescher.”

 248.
Clint Bowyer chimed in: “This going to be a huge win for Buscher.”

 249.
Until it wasn’t.

 251.
Buescher reacted hard to the outcome.

 413.

The Boston Bruins reached the second round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs on Saturday. In the seventh game of the Eastern Conference first round playoff series, the Bruins defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 2-1 at the Toronto Dominion Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. With the win, the Bruins will now play the Florida Panthers in the second round.

 414.
The game-winning goal was scored by Bruins right winger David Pastrnak of Havirov, Czech Republic. It was Pastrnak’s sixth postseason Stanley Cup Playoff game-winning goal, and his first Stanley Cup playoff overtime winner.

 415.
Inside Look at Pastrnak’s OT winner

 416.
Bruins defenseman Hampus Lindholm of Helsingborg, Sweden shot the puck from center ice. The puck went off the boards and right to Pastrnak, who found himself open in front of the net. Pastrnak made no mistake, and shot the puck past Maple Leafs goaltender Ilya Samsonov. It was quite simply a lucky home ice bounce that went the Bruins way. Another Bruins defenseman, Brandon Carlo of Colorado Springs, Colorado picked up the other assist.

 417.
How did Boston get their other goal?

 418.
The Bruins’s other goal was scored by Lindholm. After the Toronto Maple Leafs opened the scoring with a goal by William Nylander of Calgary, Alberta, it did not take the Bruins long to tie the contest. Lindholm had the equalizer one minute and 21 seconds later from James Van Riemsdyk of Middletown, New Jersey and rookie forward Justin Brazeau of New Liskeard, Ontario.

 419.
Sunday Game 7

 420.
There is one more series in the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs to be completed. That will be on Sunday night when the Dallas Stars host the Vegas Golden Knights in the seventh and deciding game with the series tied at three. The winner of the Stars/Golden Knights game seven will play the Colorado Avalanche.

 421.
The second round on Sunday is starting before the first round is ending. The New York Ranges are playing the Carolina Hurricanes.
