While the science fair is typically a common occurrence in any school at any grade level, there are different types of topics that should be taken a look at depending on the age of the student. After first taking a look at the many different categories of science projects, you will be able to locate a suitable choice of topic to take to the next level.There is a wide variety of categories that fall under the types of science projects that can be chosen for a school science fair. These include biology, chemistry, physics, microbiology, biochemistry, medicine, environmental, mathematics, engineering, and earth science. While you may not have yet learned very much in any of these categories, don’t be afraid to see what each one entails. Taking a good look at your interests will allow you to focus on the right direction to take.Many resources are also available for those who are unsure as to the topic they are wanting to use to create their science projects. If you take a look at the topics that fall under the biology category, you will likely notice that there are topics that deal with plants, animals, and humans. For those who are in 2nd grade or 3rd grade, an interesting topic may be to determine if ants are picky over what type of food they eat. While this topic might not be of interest to an 8th grader, it is certainly something in the biology category that an elementary school student would enjoy.Along with the biology category, a high school student may want to take a look at diffusion and osmosis in animal cells as this would be a more appropriate topic for the grade level. A student in 6th grade would be more advanced than an elementary school student, but not as advanced as a high school student. At this middle school grade level, a topic of how pH levels effect the lifespan of a tadpole may be of interest.Whichever resource is used to locate a topic for science projects, it is always a good idea to consider the grade level of the student prior to making a selection. If you have Microsoft Word software on your computer, then put that tool to work for U (you) by creating a word file named by topic and then start entering all of your notes for that topic in the word document and saving it in a folder by class subject. This works well for most subjects that have a lot of words, facts or rules that you need to remember, such as English, language arts, social studies, history, foreign language etc. Math probably would not work so well since you have a lot of numbers and formulas that may need to be sketched out.For example: Create a folder subject name for history as: C:HistoryCreate word file notes by topics you are studying such as: CivilWar.doc,PresidentElec.docBy typing or entering your notes in a Microsoft Word document, an electronic document will help in three ways:#1. When you retype your notes this will force you to reread your notes and your brain records the information so you can recall the information when needed for your test#2. By creating a word document you are organizing your information so you can easily find the specific information later for studying for a test at a future date.#3. You can also print the word file and keep it in your binder to highlight sections you don’t remember well and have your parent or study buddy to quiz you on your newly typed notes until you can recall or recite the information without looking at the paper. When you can recall the information without looking then you know you’re ready for the test or quiz!B. Create Audio Study NotesAs another alternative to writing notes and preparing for test, try purchasing a digital recorder such as the Olympus Voice digital recorder from an electronic store such as Best Buy that you can use to record and replay your notes. A digital recorder makes it easier to replay and remember a lot of information for a final exam or test. The Olympus voice digital recorder comes with a CD that allows you to install the digital recording software on your computer in order to transfer your sound file from the digital recorder to your computer via a usb cable pc link. This works well when you have a quiet room to record and playback and listen to the recording over and over again until you’ve retained the information. <br/><a style="display:none;" target="_blank" This would not have any significant effect on the prices of homes in the overall market. In fact, in a healthy real estate market, the inventory is usually somewhere in the neighborhood of six month’s worth of properties.Not Many ForeclosuresAnother popular conception is that Arizona is one of the worst states in the nation as far as foreclosure rates go. In fact, Arizona has a foreclosure rate that is below the national average. Currently, according to the reporting, Arizona has approximately 5.9 percent of its homes which are 30 days delinquent and not yet in foreclosure. The national average for that same figure is 7.6 percent. As for homes that are more than 30 days delinquent and that are in foreclosure, Arizona has a rate of 8.7 percent, while the nation as a whole has an average of 11.3 percent.Though the two states are often mentioned side-by-side in real estate reporting, Florida has a 21.3 percent rate of loans that are 30 days or more past due and that are in foreclosure, establishing that Arizona is in better shape than is portrayed in the media. But the good news is that via a variety of effective business financing tools you can employ you are in a position to generate working capital and cash flow from these two asset categories. Let’s examine some real world strategies that have made sense for clients.The root of the problem is simply, you have orders and contracts, but those will potentially be lost to a competitor. Conventional wisdom is that you go to your bank and ask for financing to support inventory and purchase orders. As you may have experienced, we aren’t big believers in conventional wisdom on that matter!However, utilizing a convention purchase order funding source does allow you to purchase product and get your suppliers paid, thus facilitating you ability to deliver to your customers.One of the main benefits that many clients don’t realize is that inventory financing and P O financing don’t necessarily require your firm to have a long or strong credit history; the focus on structuring the transaction is around the inventory being financing and the general credit worthiness of your client, who will be paying yourself or the inventory or P O financing firmThe overall process is fairly simply and easy to understand when it comes to putting the transaction together successfully. On receipt of your confirmed purchase order your supplier is paid via cash or a letter of credit. Your firm of course completes final shipment of the product, which typically involves some additional time on your firms part. On shipment and of course payment from your customer the transaction is in effect settled. In a true pure po financing scenario the P O funder is paid immediately on your invoicing of the product. That is facilitated by your firm selling the receivable via a factoring type transaction as soon as you have generated the invoice.There are always limitations to this type of financing – so things we look for early in the transaction are the ultimate remarket ability of your product in case there is a transaction risk. Naturally, as we stated, the overall credit worthiness of your customer is key, his receipt of goods and payment in effect closes the transaction.Inventory financing and PO financing are generally more expensive than traditional financing, due mainly to the significant transaction risk that the lender takes. Therefore we strong recommend that your firm has solid gross margins in the 25% range to cover the associated costs of a po financing, inventory financing transaction that also factors in the time it takes to get paid by your client, as that typically adds 30-60 days on to the whole cycle of the transaction.If there is one great tip of ‘ secret’ that we share with clients its simply that the best method of ensuring financing in the manner we have outlined is to consider an asset based line of credit. One of these misconceptions is the definition of ‘remnant traffic’. Some advertising networks and agencies have their own glossary open for public use, where remnant traffic is often defined as “the most inexpensive ad inventory traffic by disreputable sites or empty ‘parked domains’ advertising inappropriate content”. Is remnant traffic really as bad as we are led to believe?In order to understand what remnant traffic truly is let’s look more closely at what the traffic is the remnant of.Premium traffic: The easiest way to understand is to imagine the banner of a famous brand on a top website’s homepage. In fact premium traffic is the “cream” of a website’s audience. Websites that provide premium traffic are guaranteeing to the advertiser that the audience will note the ad. They will primarily display the banner at notable places so ALL visitors to the site will see it.This gives us our opposing definition of ‘remnant traffic’. First of all this term had been considered as the unsold inventory of our big brand advertiser above. Another stereotype is that historically remnant traffic was thought of as sold by low traffic ‘unpopular’ websites only, as they have no hope of attracting big name brands as advertisers. In the absence of alternatives these low traffic sites place banners from blind networks, which offer inexpensive ads often of doubtful content and quality.Thus there formed a situation where premium traffic is considered as top websites traffic and remnant traffic is the traffic of the other less popular resources online. That would sound quite reasonable if it wasn’t found to be largely untrue under detailed consideration. In order to sort out the fact from the fiction let’s look at the nearest relation of online ads – advertising on TV, radio and traditional print media.As it turns out there was already a very close definition of ‘remnant advertising’ in TV, radio and print media.Is there ‘remnant advertising’ in the other media?TV remnant advertising is advertising at any time except prime-time. The further from prime-time an advert is shown, the more discounts a channel offers to advertisers. Discounts on TV may reach 90% for unsold inventory. Discounts on radio are also prevalent and depend on time of broadcast and usual audience listening figures. These discounts may range from 25% to 75%.Another rule operates for printed media as they are selling physical advertising space. Advertising space nearer the middle of the newspaper is priced vastly differently from a front page advert cost. In this case a direct comparison can be made between advertising on the front page of a newspaper with a banner on the homepage of a popular website.The win-win nature of remnant advertising was accepted long ago in traditional media advertising and so the approach to premium and remnant ads was formed as the market matured. It is obvious and logical that those media may offer discounts up to 90% for unsold time or space. This is called remnant advertising. In this case both the channel and the advertiser are gaining. The channel covers 100% of scheduled advertising inventory; the advertiser is placing his advert with resources required with a great discount. So as we can see the place for remnant advertising was found in traditional media. Further remnant advertising is working effectively and not giving rise to the rejection of potential participants whether they be advertisers, advertising agencies or publishers.’Remnant traffic’ as it is.Now let’s return to the Internet. If you look through the homepage of any top website, you will usually see only big-brand advertising in all the most notable places. Obviously this is premium traffic, somewhat analogous of prime-time on TV or magazines’ or newspapers’ front pages. If however you leave the page and return to it once or twice, the displayed advertising begins to change before your very eyes from a big brand to smaller or less well known advertisers or brands.It turns out that as well as TV channels sell their prime-time, large websites sell impressions with a ‘first demonstration’ privilege. By refreshing a page several times we leafed through the big brand premium ad traffic and may now in fact see true ‘remnant advertising’ on a popular website. So that means top sites also have remnant traffic don’t they? Undoubtedly they do and they monetize it as well as traditional media do with their remnant advertising through great discounts. Separately it should be noted that this is the same mythical remnant traffic, which some networks and agencies associate with something inexpensive, negative and full of inappropriate content. These terms are obviously mismatched with the reality of remnant ads on top websites. On these top websites, remnant inventory may still be very expensive and high quality both for ad placement and ad content. Thus we have dispelled this particular myth.But what should small low-traffic sites do? They do not attract huge site traffic numbers and thus cannot place premium class brand advertising. Are there any alternatives except the placement of inexpensive ad of sometimes very doubtful content, as described at the beginning of this article’s?Can we benefit from using ‘remnant traffic’?There are currently four main alternatives each with different pros and cons:(a)You may place contextual advertising from one of the big search engines. Such services offer banner display advertising too. Among the advantages we should mention flexibility and adaptability of ad settings, rotations, localization etc. The disadvantages include delays with site verification and authorization to collaborate this program and delays with revenue payouts for displayed ads. Example: Google AdSense(b)You may place a banner from one of the ‘blind’ ad networks. The principal advantages are that it is fast, simple and will generate money for anybody without exception. The disadvantages are lower revenues and the very real possibility of the appearance of inappropriate or shocking advertising content. Example: Clicksor(c)You may register at a specialized remnant traffic ad network. These networks specialize in monetization of remnant traffic only. Both medium and high traffic sites use their services to fill their remnant ad inventory. The principal advantages are a generally high return in comparison with the alternatives and guaranteed clear and appropriate ad content. The main disadvantage is the current inability to monetize Chinese, Korean or Indian traffic sufficiently using these ad networks. Thus this alternative should be chosen in the case of sites with predominantly European or US traffic. Example: Fidelity Media(d)You may place social (or philanthropic) advertising. The advantages are worthwhile ads, wholly appropriate content and you can improve your karma by doing social good. Disadvantage: it is generally free and thus not for profit. Example: Ad CouncilHopefully after considering these options there will be an obvious conclusion so do not hesitate to experiment. Earn money from your website and don’t get fooled by pseudo-authoritative statements that your traffic is worthless to advertisers. What is Deformational Plagiocephaly?Deformational plagiocephaly is a condition in which a baby suffers from having a head shape that is uneven or irregular in shape. This typically will be displayed with a flat spot on the infants head.2.) What is Craniosynostosis?The condition known as Craniosynostosis can cause plagiocephaly. This is caused by the premature fusion of the child’s skull at its sutures. This would cause an irregular shaped head through growth in one direction and growth located at the suture closures. Nonsynostotic plagiocephaly actually does not necessarily require that a child have surgery and it can be treated with the use of a cranial molding helmet.When a child has what is refereed to as “mild positional plagiocephaly”, the condition may actually correct itself within the first six weeks of the child’s life. If not, then treatment may be required when its irregularity is diagnosed.3.) Who Suffers From Positional Plagiocephally?In the past, positional plagiocephaly would occur in one out of every 300 babies. This would include synostotic and non-synostotic cases. (Note to reader: “synostotic” refers to the fusion of normally separate skeletal bones). However, more recent data suggests that the number has raised up to 40% in health infants! – This rise in incidence or diagnosis of non-synostotic plagiocephaly has been linked to two basic reasons:A. ) There has been a rise in multiple birthsB.) The “Back to Sleep” campaign. This was headed by the American Academy of Pediatrics in 1994. This campaign suggested for infants to be sleeping on their backs to decrease the onset of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). As you can guess, when the child sleeps on its back more, what can happen to the back of the child’s head? – A flat spot can develop.4.) What Can Cause Non-synostotic Positional Plagiocephaly?It is possible that this type of plagiocephaly is caused prior to birth. This happens due to pressure that is located within the mother’s uterus. Typically, this is caused by one of the following conditions stated below:• The infant dropped down early, into the mother’s pelvis prior to the deliver process.<br />• Bicornase uterus<br />• The infant was born breech<br />• Multiple births such as twins, for example<br />• The baby’s size is unusually large<br />• The mother has a decreased volume of amniotic fluid or she (the mother) has a small pelvisAfter birth, plagiocephally can be due to the infants frequent lying posture. This means that the baby is in the same position, such as in their crib or car seat.5.) What Are The Current Treatments Available to Help Treat a Flat Spot on The Head?The main treatment for positional plagiocephaly is a cranial remolding orthosis. Many people refer to them as “baby helmets” or “infant helmets”. A child can begin using one of these special helmets between the ages of four and eight months. – This orthosis (helmet) will gently reshape the skull as it continues to grow in the coming months.6.) Will My Insurance Cover a Helmet (Cranial Orthosis or Headband)?Insurance can cover these items, but each insurance provider has its own medical guidelines and coverage percentages. It is best to get in contact with the insurance company to determine the coverage of benefits for these special helmets. In this case, these helmets will be covered under DME (durable medical equipment) and orthotics and prosthetics (O&P). It is not unusual for the insurance company to request a letter of medical necessity for these remodling helmets. This will basically tell the insurance company why it is medically necessary for your child to obtain this kind of orthosis.If untreated, your child may have to deal with more than just a flat spot on their head. They may also suffer from vision and hearing problems and temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ), etc. It is important for you to be in contact with your local, licensed orthotist to provide you with all the necessary information regarding these helmets prior to making a decision. Moreover, many health insurance companies will have published detailed criteria for DME (durable medical equipment) on their websites.7.) Are All Cranial Orthoses (Remolding Helmets) And Bands Created The Same Way?The general concepts behind the product are similar, although its our opinion that it is important to get complete coverage of the baby’s cranium to achieve the best outcome. Typically we are concerned about the upper cranial vault. Bands typically only address this aspect of the infants head. However, your baby has sutures that are located over and around their ears. Sutures are also located at the top of the baby’s head as well. Since the helmets functions by allowing growth at a flat spot and inhibiting growth in the direction of any bulge, a band would not be optimal coverage for the area around and above the ears. This could allow for a deformation to persist if left uncontrolled. It is our opinion that a complete helmet of the child’s unique shaped head will help to insure against this rare side effect.8.) How Quickly Will My Child Receive Their Helmet After Casting?Every O & P company is different in how they approach cranial molding helmets. Ideally, your baby will be using their new helmet with one week of the casting date to assure the proper fit and function of the cranial orthosis. However, insurance approval is typically needed before a licensed orthotist can provide this special helmet to your child. Ideally, the insurance approval process will be complete prior to the casting visit and this will expedite the time it will take for your child to receive their helmet. If you are going to get one of these for your child, phone ahead to your local, licensed orthotist and talk with their company about coverage benefits. You will probably need your health insurance readily available when you call.9.) What Kind of Special Training do Certified Orthotists Possess? What is it That Makes Them The Best Candidate For Taking Care of Your Child?A certified orthotist has proven themselves in the field of orthotics. They have passed exams of the highest standard in the orthotics community and need continuing education to keep their credentials in the field of orthotics. Although some individuals might like to call them a helmet, the device your child will receive is technically considered to be an orthosis.Licensed orthotists are allied health professionals. They are also specifically trained and educated to provide or manage the provision of custom or prefabricated orthoses. This strong background in patient care, using proven biomechanical principles and materials, gives these specialists the skills to manage infants with positional plagiocephaly. Orthotists have also been fitting and providing braces (orthoses) including cranial helmets for over a century in the United States.Note: This is health information.
