I am looking for the family of my ancestor, Behama Virginia Beach, b. abt 1836 VA, who married Alexander Henderson. They were living in Harrison County, WV census in 1870, but not before. Near them in the 1870 Harrison County, WV Census is the family of Presley B. Beach, 41 VA with his wife Melsena, 40, VA. Their children were Leander, Florence M., India M., Eldo, Lura, Nora, Irwin, and a baby girl. AND, also not far away is John J. Beach, 69, VA, a shoemaker. Prior to 1870, these people were not listed in the Harrison Coutny Census, but in 1860 there was an Isaac Beach. Any information about this family will be appreciated.

247. The complex consists of the merchant mill, country mill, granary and store house.
248. In 1810, Charles Fenton Mercer established a town on 30 acres that he had set aside, including the site of his mill. He named the town after the family's Aldie Castle in Perthshire, Scotland. That year, a stone arch bridge, which is still in use today, was built over Little River. The town grew up around the mill to include three churches, a brick mill, a variety of other small industries, and substantial houses such as Berkeley House, Aldie, Tyler House, and Narrowgate. Mercer's mill still stands, known today as the Aldie Mill.

The information I have points to the possibility of a prior marriage, based on his marriage date to Elizabeth and the date of his death. I can’t find out who his father is or where his gravesite is (did find his will). My suspicion is that there was a name change. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

601.
I am looking for any information on the parents of Mary Ann Edwards who married Armistead Miller in Loudoun County and/or Susan Near/Neer who married George Piper in Jefferson County (West) Virginia. According to a MtDNA match I recently received Mary Ann and Susan share a female ancestor.
602.
603. Armistead M. Miller was born about 1814 in Virginia and died 25 August 1881 in Loudoun Countym VA and is buried in St. Pauls Lutheran Church Cemetery, Neersville. Loudoun County
604. He married 02 February 1846 to
605. Mary Ann Edwards born between 1814 and 1824 in Virginia and died 15 July 1903 and is also buried in St.. Paul’s Cemetery.
606. Bond for the marriage was given by Solomon Everhart who also attested to the ages of the couple.
607. Two children who lived to adulthood
608. Mary Josephine Miller born 1851 married Joseph F. Conard
609. Elizabeth M. Miller born 1854 married Elihu S. Arnold
610.
611. Census records for this couple
612. 1850 Loudoun County listed as Armistead MILLNER
613. 1860 Nearsville also in the household Rodney EDWARDS age 25
614. 1870 Neersville Armstead MILLIE
615. 1880 Lovettsville A.M. Miller
616.
617. More on Rodney Edwards also Samuel Rodney Edwards born 15 August 1834 in Loudoun County and died 28 January 1912 buried Ebenezer United Methodist Chruch Cemetery, Neersville, Loudoun County VA
618. Married Ann Virginia Everhart 1863 Frederick County, MD
619. Children: William; James; Samuel; Elizabeth; John; Lewis; Minnie Charles; J, F,; and Ann V.
620.
621. More on Solomon Everhart
622. There are TWO in Loudoun County both born in 1813 and both married in 1835
623. One to Sarah Ann Edwards
624. The other to Mary Ann Wenner
625.
626. A Mary Ann Edwards descendant is a MtDNA match to me. This indicates that Mary Ann and my maternal line ancestor Susan Near/Neer share a female line ancestor.
627. My tree available at:
628. http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=PED&db=jones-statler&id=P5
629.
630. Susan Near married George Piper 8 July 1824 Jefferson County (West) Virginia and they were in Washington County MD in the 1830 census with 2 female under 5 years old. George probably died before 1840. There is a deed recorded in 1852 in Jefferson County VA that names Susan Piper, James Colbert, Robert Harper and Mary Ellen his wife. Mary Ellen is Susan’s daughter born about 1827. There are two possibilities for Susan Piper in the 1850 Census one age in Jefferson County by herself age 50 and one in Washington County MD age 38 (age doesn’t seem reasonable) with James Colbert.
631. I do not know who Susan’s parents might be but I have enough Autosomal DNA matches with descendants of the Neer family of Loudoun County to be confidant that she is part of that family.

891.
I am searching for information concerning the slaves were owned by the Allnutt family in Loudoun County before the civil war; some of these slaves continued to work on behalf of the Allnutts even after the war as laborers.
892.
893. The slave family that I am interested in goes by the surname Genus/Jenus. Eliza Genus, my 5th great grandmother, was a slave owned by Robert G. (R. G.), James L., and Ellen Allnutt -- who are all siblings to each other. A 1850 slave schedule for Ellen shows a female slave born around 1822 that might be Eliza, and a 1860 slave schedule for Robert also has a female slave suggested to be born around 1825, probably also Eliza. In an 1870 census record, Eliza and her family (likely children and grandchildren) are living with Robert as house servants.
894.
895. Another possible slave of the Allnutt family is a man by the name of Martin Lee, who was revealed in a 1860 census record to be living with Robert as a free black man. He had a son with Eliza named Zachariah, who died in Leesburg on 1913.
896.
897. If you have any personal information about the Allnutts and their slaves (e.g., diary records, wills, court records, neighbor testimonies, etc) especially Eliza Genus, Martin Lee, and other Genus family members, please contact me. I am especially looking for the relationship between the Allnutts and their slaves -- such as whether their relationship was good or bad.

1024.
I am starting a new thread for those of you interested in tracking ancestors both from Maryland to Louisiana, approximately 1838 and beyond, and those who were enslaved at the Hardy Family (Thomas Siebert Hardy and William F. Hardy) plantations (sugar mills) in the St. Landry vicinity. I welcome any Hardy family members of color or those related to slave owners to assist in this research. There may have been other plantations our ancestors from Maryland or those born in Louisiana after the sale of their parents may have been sold to in Louisiana, such as plantations owned by Henry Johnson of the Parish of St. James, Jesse Batey or Beatty, and H.M. Thibodaux.
1025.

1030. If you have ancestors from Louisiana who state they or their parents were born in Maryland in the early 1800's,, there's a good chance they were sold by the Catholic Jesuits of Georgetown University to slave owners in Louisiana. The Jesuits are meticulous record keepers and there is a strong chance we can find our ancestors with some deep digging for succession records of their owners in Louisiana or documents provided by the Jesuits.

1038.
Thibodaux.

1135.
1136. I have found reference to an order book entry that I think may very well be my brick wall that has blocked me from figuring out who my 5th great-grandparents are. The entry I found is:
1137. Order Book O page 3 Sept. 12, 1792 Ordered that the overseers of the Poor bind William Poland age 4 years the 10th of April next to John Houghman Jr. according to law.
1138.
1139. Can anyone tell me how to find out more about this entry? Would the minute books potentially have more information about why William Poland was being bound out or more importantly, would they potentially indicate who his parents are? Are there other resources that I could check to find out more about this?
1140.
1141. Any information would be GREATLY appreciated. I have been trying to determine who my William Poland's parents were for over 15 years.
1142.
1143. Sincerely,
