133.
134. I'm looking to find out if there are any records for Quaker meetings in or near two locations: Pawling, Dutchess Co., NY and Duanesburg, Schenectady Co., NY.
135.
136. I am particularly looking for records pertaining to the Oliver BRIGGS family in the time period in Pawling of about 1770-1795 and in Duanesburg of about 1790-1830. Oliver BRIGGS married Millicent (Mille) DRAPER about 1770, probably in New York and according to the book "A Draper Genealogy", became Quakers.
137.
138. If you are able to turn me on to any local meetings or places to access records of these meetings, I'd be very grateful.
139.
140. Thanks for any tips.

263. Some of the names in the West Branch cemetery are: Brown, Burgess, Greenlee, McAninch, Mendenhall, Phillips, Sharp, Swain, Warren, Wilson
264. Any info would be appreciated! Thanks!

273.
274. Such is the case for my 7x great grandfather, Samuel Williams, a Quaker. His will, probated 1778, lists children Samuel, Mary & Sarah, wife of ----- Hastings. Then lists grandchildren by name. This is a problem, because I come from one of the grandchildren, Samuel Sr's daughter Sarah & this unnamed Hastings. I cant go further back on the Hastings side without knowing Sarah's husband's name. So the fact he wasn't named, presents a problem, unless one of his children bears his first name, which could be John or Joel. Samuel lived in Sadsbury Twp, Lancaster County PA. Are there any ways to find out his name for sure? He & Sarah may have been married around 1750 in Sadsbury or within a 5 year radius of that year.

303. Also looking for ADAM CROSSLAND, of Quaker heritage, who was born around 1799-1802, possibly in Fayette Cty, PA (This Adam is my ggg-grandfather), or his father, ADAM, who appears in records of that same area in 1801. This Adam would have been born possibly around 1775.

333.
334. Is this a common occurrance in Quaker history? Do they not commonly name cemeteries, or is this a shortcoming of my source material? I am entering "old burial ground" in lower case letters, assuming it is not a place name, but I do not even know for sure that this is true.
335.
336. If anyone has any light to shed on my confusion, I'd appreciate hearing from you.

If this is my ancestor, he is later found in Lancaster Co PA in 1747 buying land, and a Quaker. Since he first shows up in 1726, I'm guessing that's when he came of age or became an adult, being born about 1708. Are there any Quaker records for a Samuel William(s) born in that part of the state at that time? Any help welcome.

576.
Hello,
577.
578. I'm trying to find out more information about my ancestor Thomas Vernon. According to my grandmother's research, he was born in 1799 in Pennsylvania. He came to Ohio sometime between 1820 and 1830 based on the Census data. His son's name that I'm descended from is Mordecai (b. 1822), grandson Mordecai Lincoln Vernon (1866-1917).
579.
580. While looking into my roots in Cheshire England, someone posted that Quakers do not record birth information - rather, they welcome a child into the meeting at the time of the child's choice. Does anyone know when that custom began? I'm wondering if Thomas left the Quaker faith, or perhaps was simply not recorded. I don't know if there were any Meetings in Ohio for him to join in that time period as well. I do know that his grandson ML Vernon was very active in a Methodist church around 1900.
581.
582. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
583.
584. Best,
585. Tony

602.
Stanton Bailey married Lydia Comer in Wayne Co Indiana,1831. This courthouse marriage got Lydia expelled from the New Garden MM for marrying contrary to discipline. No entry exists in the 1965 Indiana Quaker Indices for a Stanton & Lydia after the marriage, and no signs of this Stanton being related to the elder Stanton in Randolph & Wayne Co. Stanton died before 1844, where Lydia married a William Kirkman. No sign in Quaker Index. Lydia is dead by 1860, William remarries moves to Missouri. Lydia & Stanton's sons move to Whitley then Starke Co.
603.
604. Stanton and Lydia's known children
605. Nancy, Robert Milton, Isaac Newton, & Elizabeth
606.
607. No will or probate found for Lydia or this Stanton in Wayne Co.
608.
609. Eldest daughter Nancy Bailey married John Thornburg who was from a Quaker family, youngest married his brother George. JT & Nancy apparently were Quakers still when they moved to Iroquois Co Illinois. No sign of any others staying in Quaker Faith, no apparent listing of JT's marriage in Quaker Index from 1965. Though I am curious as it appears a lot of Quaker names ended up in Starke Co Ind, but the Indiana Index doesn't show a MM there.
610.
611. Grave locations for Stanton and Lydia unknown.
612.
613. Basically I can't find out who Stanton's parents were. There is another Stanton in the area about 15 years older, but this Stanton would be too old to be his son. Posting hoping someone has an idea on how to proceed.

668.
Q. Were differences between Quakers & NON-Quakers documented in meeting minutes? Or only differences between Quakers?
669.
670. With respect to the monthly meeting that was sequentially known as Bethlehem, Kingwood and Quakertown, in Hunterdon Co., NJ, it has been stated that:
671.
672. “In general, non-members are not mentioned in the minutes, even when they attended meeting for worship on a regular basis.”
673.

675.
676. Thus, one might be inclined, “in general,” to think that John Basset was a member, based on the following excerpts from the minutes of this monthly meeting:
677.
678. “At our Monthly Meeting held at Kingwood the 8.th day of the 1st Month 1750… This Meeting desires John Emley William Muntgumrie [sic] Thomas Atkinson and John Simcock Senior to Enquire into the difference between Samuel Large and John Basset and to Endeavour to accommodate the Same before the next Monthly Meeting and make report then accordingly.”
679.
680. “At our Monthly Meeting held [at] Kingwood the 10.th day of the 3.d Month 1750… The Committee appointed to Settle the Difference between Samuel Large and John Basset, Reported they had Settled the affair So far as related to the Difference between Samuel and Basset. But Samuel was to make Satisfaction to the next Monthly on that Occasion So far as his Offence relates to the Church, He not being able to attend it was pospon’d [sic] to next Monthly Meeting.”
681.
682. “At our Monthly Meeting held at Kingwood the 14t.th day of 4.th Month 1750… Samuel Large acknowledged his fault agreeable to his promise made to the Committee that was appointed to Settle the Difference between the said Samuel and John Basset, which acknowledgement was to the Satisfaction of this Meeting, in general, and it was the general result of this Meeting, that this Shall be a full End thereof, and that no more mention be made anymore on that occation [sic].”

685.
686. Samuel Large (1686–1765) was in Bethlehem Township by 1733 and a very active member of the congregation. In contrast, these are the only references to John Basset that I have found in the records of this congregation.

728. Samuel Large (1686–1765) was in Bethlehem Township by 1733 and a very active member of the congregation. In contrast, these are the only references to John Basset that I have found in the records of this congregation.

779.
I need help in understanding how to translate dates used in Quaker Monthly Meeting records. My ancestors' marriage information is given as 23rd of 11th mo, 1734 at Chichester Meeting House. Since 1734 is before the Gregorian Calendar was instituted in America, that means the year began on March 25th. So, do I read the eleventh month as February or as November? And do the twenty-three days start on the twenty-fifth day of the previous month, or from the first of the month?
780.
781. So, which date is accurate:
782. 23 Nov 1734
783. 18 Nov 1734
784. 23 Feb 1734
785. 17 Feb 1734
786.
787. Or something else entirely because of the lost days when the calendar changed?
