60.
We all know that good things take time but that assumes that you are on the right path. In fact, some people are so confused, as if one is heading to Siberia and the other to Newfoundland. Unfortunately the dynamic is heavily sexist, with women (generally) waiting around for the man to decide what he wants.

 61.

 62.
We are all patient but patience has a limit, especially for aspiring wives and mothers. This is aggravated by the fact that men tend to mature later, affording them the luxury of taking their time and “feeling things out”.

 63.

 64.
Cutting to the chase, how can you tell when a man is about to propose?

 65.

 66.
I would love nothing more for everyone than to find their soulmate.

 67.
However, before you make the appointment with the wedding officiant, there is one tinsy (tiny) detail that you have to hammer out…

 68.

 69.
The ring.

 70.

 71.
As you can probably know, there is no way to force a man to do anything. On the flip side, if he does want to do something, there is nothing that can come between him and his dream. To clarify, a man behaves a certain way when he is planning something big, especially as massive as a marriage proposal.

 72.

 73.
Without any more caveats and contigients, here is my list of 10 signs that a man is marriage-minded.

 74.

 75.

 76.

He introduces you to his closest family and friends.

 77.

He does not hide his phone.

 78.

He discusses; buy a house, school choice, or family dinners.

 79.

He takes the time to get to know young children around your social circle.

 80.

He invites you to a wedding, showing interest in the event.

 81.

He is involved in organized cultural or religious events. Discusses traditions, morals, or legacy.

 82.

He has friends who are married, discussing hanging out with them on a “double date”.

 83.

Has a fiscally conservative mentality, thinking about the future and planning accordingly.

 84.

He holds himself out as your boyfriend, behaving chivilous and so forth.

 85.

He asks you what your ring size is and whether you prefer princess-cut or something different.

 86.

 87.

 88.
Obviously the last one was pretty obvious but allow me to have a little fun.

 89.

 90.
Here are some definite signs that we are not going to book a rehearsal anytime soon.

 91.

 92.

 93.

He cannot stop talking about another woman (or women).

 94.

He talks negatively about marriage, seeing it “unfair” or “archaic”.

 95.

He discusses the irrelevant nature of marriage, name-dropping friends who are happily common law.

 96.

He is highly critical of social institutions, especially the government itnerfering in personal matters.

 97.

He does not believe in monogamy or having children.

 98.

 99.

 100.

 101.
I sincerely hope that you are in a relationship with a man that exhibits the first categories and not the latter.

 102.

 103.
Whether you want to elope in the park, have a Jewish Wedding in Toronto, or have a breathtaking wedding under the stars, I hope that all your dreams come true.

 117.

 118.
I got the news from a local Facebook group.

 119.
I don’t remember exactly when I found out, sometime on January 15th.

 120.
No context was given, simply that a rabbi was held hostage alongside fellow congregants.

 121.
I told my wife what happened, opining that it was likely Islamic Jihadists.

 122.
It is not a mystery.

 123.
Nor was Munich nor the Tree of Life Synagogue.

 124.
They all constitute a different iteration operating within a different zeitgeist.

 125.

 126.
I prayed for people that I had only just read about, never met.

 127.
I have never heard of Colleyville, CBI, or Rabbi Cytron-Walker.

 128.
May the Almighty Deliver the Captives.

 129.
As He did in Egypt.

 130.
And throughout our generations.

 131.

 132.
Omein

 133.
Baruch Shemo

 134.

 135.
Prayers Answered

 136.

 137.
After 11 hours of intense negotiations.

 138.
Captives freed.

 139.
Terrorist dead.

 140.

 141.
This is the time for reflection.

 142.

 143.
Rabbi Cytron-Walker is on the extreme-left side of the Jewish Political Spectrum. While he has not come out against Israel as an idea, he has supportive initiatives that would jeoporadize the safety of Jews in Israel. Charlie is not a bad person by any stretch of the imagination, simply a product of his environment. Reform Judaism requires a bachelor's degree (prior to graduate studies and subsequent ordination), usually taken in one of the social sciences. This serves to fuse Faith with Social Justice, adding an air of legitimacy to American progressive values.

 144.

 145.
Rabbi Cytron-Walker has spent his life at the forefront of radical social change, electing to adopt his wife’s surname as his own. Furthermore, he was worked with a variety of socially marginaled groups, prioritizing the needs of the most vulnerable in some of the most dangerous settings. While these things are positive on its face, it ignores the reality of choice. When faced with ultimatums, whose interest comes first?

 146.

 147.
If I were to sit down with Rabbi Walker-Cytron,

 148.
Perhaps over the same coffee that he offered the assailant.

 149.

 150.

 151.

If given two choices, should you protect your family first or the family of another?

 152.

Did you think that your “wokeness” would serve as a “get out of jail free card” in this type of situation?

 153.

Has this experience changed your view on Israeli security?

 154.

Which takes priority; external-autraism or community safety?

 155.

The gun used was not acquired legally but (instead) purchased illegally from the black market. How would increased gun restrictions–on legal gun owners–prevent foreign terrorists like this?

 156.

 157.

 158.
The media has spun this story, deferring to the narrative that Jews are oppressors and Muslims are victims. This is a laughable–yet widely held–view in the Arab World. We are their eternal antagonist, serving as the reason for drought, misfortune, poverty or wealth.

 159.

 160.
If you ask them why they hate us, they give us isolated reasons while rejecting the notion that they hate us outright.

 161.

 162.
They hate us because…

 163.

 164.

 165.

We are too rich.

 166.

We are too poor.

 167.

We are too smart.

 168.

We are too stupid.

 169.

We think we are too Holy.

 170.

We think we are just like them.

 171.

We are trying too much to be like them.

 172.

We are not assimilated enough.

 173.

We are too liberal.

 174.

We are too archaic.

 175.

 176.

 177.
In realistic terms, this creates a problem for many North American Jews.

 178.
Since many lack in Jewish education, reform offers easy access without prior knowledge.

 179.
As with everything, nothing valuable is free.

 180.
The more you study your heritage, the more you want to protect it.

 181.

 182.
It is natural to build a wall when threatened.

 183.
The Chinese spent their human capital doing exactly this.

 184.
While the rabbi is sincere, his ideology will guarantee disaster for our small community.

 185.

 186.
There are 15 million of us.

 187.
Billions that do not like us.

 188.

 189.
Jewish Lives Matter

Like me, he serves all nations, crafting unique ceremonies for the most lush of backdrops. This is not to say that Ontario is not beautiful, it truly is. The difference comes when discussing wedding season, especially in the context of weather and preference. James Chun is a great guy all around, the correct choice for the perfect Hawaiian Wedding.

 197.

 198.
People are open to booking wedding year-round in Hawaii while in Canada people flock to the months between May and September. Instead of having to be productive in society, progressivism became a vocation in itself, seeking to smash everything that was “out of date”. Since Jews are quite out of fashion-even reading a book over 5k years-they are first on our list. While it used to be taboo to rag on the Jews, today’s world allows unbridled criticism of the Zionist Enterprise. Just a brief caveat before we go any further; make sure that you target Israel as a nation, not that people that live there. You see, “good Jews'' will grant us legitimacy, solidying ourselves as those “on the correct side of history”. While most Jews are “cursed” there remains a special remnant that will serve as our mouthpiece. In other words, our politics sound much more “nuanced” and “reasonable” when they come out of the lips of a Jew or Jewess. (Can I erase this? I meant Israeli).

 207.

 208.
If you are a D grade academic, look no further in your pursuit of a worthy cause. Throw your literature texts in the trash and take up Saul Aulisky’s “Rules for Radicals”, “Mein Kumpt” or “Brokeback Mountain”. Each will appeal to your unique hipster image, leaving just the necessary vintage t-shirt and cream sneakers.

 209.

 210.
Ok, so we have now established that you want to use Israel as your obsession, at least in your oppositional position to the Jewish State. You might get accused of being a “Zionist Operative” so be sure to show your progressive credentials.

While both inhabit the same block of the continent, they are sharply different, each a product of how they came to statehood. While Americans rebelled against King George, the Canadian pioneers waited patiently for their time to arrive. Even after getting independence, we still maintained strong relations with the Queen, refusing to burn bridges while others were eager to do so.

 229.

 230.
Of course I am going to offend someone so please insert the typical caveat here. If you are really offended, you can call up Prime Minister Trudeau and ask him to write me a firm letter. All I ask is that the letter is given in both official languages, so I can feel shame in a uniquely Canadian fashion.

 231.

 232.

 233.

Do All Canadians live in igloos? While all Canadians are known to prefer this frozen housing arrangement, only the richest Canucks can afford their own ice palace. Trudeau has announced a new ice block tax, causing outrage among citizens coast to coast. There are alternative parties advocating for a social igloo program but it hasn’t gotten any traction. Every time progress is made, they slide right on down.

 234.

Do all Canadians say “aboot” instead of “about”? Again, yes. The biological construction of the Canadian mouth is unable to say this vowel, having to compensate in an especially funny fashion. While American have tried to teach us how to vocalize the “owe” sound, it just sounds more flamboyant and ridiculous.

 235.

Are all Canadians good at hockey? While, yes. Yes we are. We come out of our mother’s wombs wearing skates, causing some discomfort upon exit. Canadian moms complain of being jabbed from the inside, an acute pain caused by a mini baby hockey stick. In fact, some mothers complain that they do not get enough of these jabs, suggesting that their child will not advance to the NHL. These are problems, Canadian problems.

 236.

Are all Canadians lumberjacks? Well, just the men. Even though the women do the same work, there is some cultural pushback on this issue. Even if the woman does all the logging, it is the man who reserves the right to use this title. The truth is that the title isn’t assigned to people working in the lumber industry, instead it is given to men who wear the plaid overcoat. As per Canadian law, if a business executive wears this ethnic attire, he too is a lumberjack. At least until he takes off the outfit.

 237.

Do Canadians only eat Tim Hortons? This is the only incorrect stereotype of this list. While Canadians consume over 80 percent of their diet from this drive thru staple, we also eat Nanaimo bars, butter cups, and smoked meat sandwiches. While poutine is a common sight on most dinner takes, this Canadian Jew must abstain. While I can eat a vegetarian edition-with mushroom gravy-it feels too taboo to consider. The Canadian way is to steer on the side of caution, not taking risks that have little consequences. Canadian hospitals have announced a new remedy for homesickness, delivering an intravenous dose of Timmies right into the bloodstream. Despite being a mild inconvenience, it is still cheaper than flying in Celine Dion.

 238.

 239.

In fact, we share the greatest border in the world, living in relative peace since the War of 1812. While not as noisy as our American cousins, we have contributed many scientific innovations, making the world better for everyone. Here are my top 5 favourite Canadian inventions, sure to satisfy your daily Canadiana.

 246.

 247.

 248.

Canada Invented basketball. Well not exactly, let me explain. Basketball was invented in 1891 by James Naismith, a Canadian educator from Almonte Ontario. While he got his career started in the “Great White North” he actually developed the game in Massachusetts, USA. This is not a reason to discount our connection, especially since the game would have been developed for this Canadian migrant’s contribution. Of course, you can suggest it was a joint effort, but that wouldn’t be fun, would it?

 249.

Canada invented ice hockey. Again, I should have started the statement with a qualifier, but what can you do. Hockey was originally developed in the British Isles, played on grass with “golf-like” clubs. While there is little evidence to support it being played on ice, it was the Canadian landscape that caused it to develop into the sport it is today. There is some documentation of Mi'kmaq Native Canadians playing a similar sport, although far removed from the current set up that we enjoy today. Further contributing to the Canadian story, there are accounts of settlers playing hockey (with First Nations) on St. Lawrence, the waterway connecting the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean. While some things have roots abroad, it is the Canadian experience that changes them into something original, something new.

 250.

Canada invented the CanadArm. Finally we can take all the credit for ourselves, sharing little with the Americans. There I go again, forgetting that this technology was used in tandem with NASA, on their Space Shuttles. It was integral in the development of the International Space Station, making engineering and construction easy and safe. While fading out of commission in 2011, its legacy remains to this day.

 251.

Canada invented Superman. While not a tech invention, it is a cultural contribution of the highest order. While original as a character concept, there are many parallels with the Biblical Narrative, especially their names. If you notice the suffix “El”, it is the Hebrew word for God, found in related names like Samuel, Michael, and Daniel. In fact, Superman can be considered a cultural manifestation of our Messiah obsession, waiting for a superhero to save us. This makes sense considering that both Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel were Jewish, most likely exposed to these types of narratives in synagogue. The stories were rather human, despite the powers displayed by many of the characters. Through Superman we learn that even the most powerful people have a vulnerability; kryptonite or other.

 252.

Canada invented insulin. Diabetes hits many families, forcing a strict regimen of eating, testing, and medication. While this may seem burdensome now, many of these same patients would not have lived but for this medical innovation. Developed by Dr. Frederick Banting (1922) of Alliston, Ontario, Insulin allows excess sugar to be mobilized effectively, based on a chemical mechanism that forces expulsion through urination. While it has been standard care for many years, it is incredible to think of all the lives saved by this noble Canuck, and his team from Western Ontario University. You will see his name plastered over many Canadian schools, inspiring young minds to follow suit.

I am not saying that there were no people here, quite the contrary in fact. Since time immemorial the Native Canadian tribes have used the areas as a meeting place, exchanging goods and services between themselves and ethnic outsiders.

 260.

 261.
Toronto is new as a Metropolis, having climbed the dominance hierarchy in the years after World War 2. Once considered a “sleepy town”, Toronto was catapulted to the global state by an influx of immigrants from around the world. Each adding their unique flair, the city filled in and developed. While it is easy to look to the skyline and think of the future, Toronto offers a variety of historical attractions, each adding a different element to the story.

 262.

 263.
History is important, giving us direction and an appreciation for the giants of whose shoulders we stand on. While covered in the school curriculum, the textbooks cannot compare to the insight developed by a first-hand visit. Toronto is an interesting city, littered with historical artifacts among the Contemporary architecture. Sometimes the marker is hidden, sometimes integrated in newer structures. Let your children know why you are taking them here, and why learning about the past is important.

 264.

 265.
Parents are teachers regardless of whether they acknowledge it.

 266.
Parents constitute the foundation for learning, a stable bedrock of security and assurance.

 267.
Let’s get started.

 268.

 269.
You might have driven past it, just west on Steeles pass Keele. The park recreates pre-Confederation (1860s) Canada, employing a variety of character actors and historic interpreters. Chances are that your kid will ask them if they are really from the past, kind of in the same vein as trying to make a British Guard move. I noticed this trend during my last visit, giving credit to the skilled actors (and actresses) who reflected all of the questions with ease. Even after they tried their foolishness, many wanted to stay and listen. If your children want to learn, encourage them, even if it is inconvenient. Your investment will pay off, seeing them gain access to the highest echelons of society. As we all know, we are judged by the way we speak, affording few opportunities to make a second impression. History gives people the capacity for understanding context, placing events into a timeline. By engaging the past you become able to accept the future.

 270.

 271.
The park is located beside the York University campus, in the North York borough of Toronto. Tucked away from the traffic, the entrance is nestled amongst a series of trees and greenery. You first must enter through a wooden-type building, hosting the ticket kiosk and gift shop. Please arrange for your tickets beforehand, especially if there is a Covid-related limit on admission numbers. After proceeding through the building you will exit into a wide open space, populated with a series of antique structures and artifacts. Each building is attended by an actor, providing some enrichment and context. Their job is to bring the story to life, adding a voice to a person who is long gone. While they might not be here in the literal sense, their legacy lives on here. Their story is marked by hardships, tragedy, and a little good luck.

 272.

 273.
As you walk straight ahead you will see a setup similar to Main Street USA at Disney World. In total you will see 40 heritage buildings, some built on the original property and some taken apart and reassembled here in the 1960’s. Consider the Apple Storage Cellar, originally located in Edgeley Ontario. Built from “discovered” material, it was built using only manpower and primitive technologies. Even considering this, the architects designed a ventilation system, allowing for climate control. That way the workers could counteract the external temperature, the biggest threat at the time. This was before running water, air conditioning, and heating. With such dangers lurking, no wonder the pioneers valued their apple products so much!

 274.

 275.
As you continue you will see Dickson’s Hill School, one of the prime locations to get married in Toronto. True to its form, the backdrop is amazing for wedding pictures, connecting the past to the future. Not quite sure the connection between schools and weddings but there seems to be a trend, at least here in southern Ontario.

 276.

 277.

 278.
The school has two entrances, one for boys and one for girls. I wasn’t sure whether this was still in effect, seeing the marriage officiant scurrying in and out of the female corridor. Maybe he wanted to be the Rosa Parks of historical attractions, or maybe I am just reading too far into this. Carry on.

 279.

 280.
Like all of the buildings, all are deficient of internal facilities, forcing guests to return to the gift shop when nature calls. This is not a big deal, especially considering the gift shop in the foyer. Full of chachkas and other collectibles, it is a great place to find things to put in your house. This will connect your child to both Canadian history and the memory of the family outing to the Village.

 281.

 282.
On a last note, be sure to check out the church cemetery. Rest assured that you do not need to walk on the premises to see the monuments. Many of the homesteaders are buried here, many perishing at a young age. Their story is the pioneer story, people leaving the security of their homes for life in the wilderness. While they faced many hardships, their luck eventually manifested and they went on to establish respectable communities. Tell your children why this is important, why people came to Canada for a better life.

 283.

 288.
Money is a fuel source, propelling you towards one destination or another. Money is indifferent, not caring about your emotional (or spiritual) well being. It can be used to feed the poor as well as hire an assassin. It does not cry when it changes hands, not caring who is carrying it in their pocket. It is an amoral bartering tool, exchanging one form of value for another. While money can buy many things, it cannot buy the things illustrated below.

 289.

 290.

 291.

The genuine love between a husband and wife.

 292.

The warm embrace of your children, reminding you that it was all worth it.

 293.

Real friends, not people who see you as a means to an end. Instead they value the time you spend together, see it as valuable for its own sake.

 294.

Respect, not the type you can buy. Having a strong reputation, built on trust and longevity.

 295.

Appreciation for one's heritage, something that only comes after spending time learning about it.

 296.

The development of a moral compass. Knowing how to distinguish ethical Light from darkness.

 297.

Strong communication ability. This takes resilience, even if the speaker has fears or insecurity. It takes practice, far harder than doing a public school language test.

 298.

Self confidence. In contrast to the current status quo, it requires some ability as a precursor. Your confidence should be built on merit, by offering society something of value.

 299.

Hunger. Not just in the literal sense, but the animalistic desire to conquer and dominate. This explains why many of the greatest ideas were developed by people outside the mainstream. People on the margins have less to lose, and more to gain.

 300.

Sense of purpose in the world. The materialist worldview denounces any notion of meaning, design, or direction. While many atheists are moral people, they cannot explain the foundation for their morality. This only comes with an open mind, weighing the probability of it all coming together as it has.

 301.

 302.

 303.
Our Universe is a system of interconnected microcosms, all working together in perfect unity. While we accept the fresh oxygen from the trees, we rarely question the system that allowed us to live so comfortably.

 304.

 305.
Money can only be realized among certain people, the rest occupying their lives with distractions. There is joy in buying a house, but no more than buying the first. After a week your new car turns into just your car. It provides a spike of dopamine before crashing you lower than you were before. Money can be a drug, but it need not be. When you seek Wisdom first, the material will follow.

James Chun. He has a charming personality, putting people at ease in every situation. Despite coming from different backgrounds, we both believe in the magic of marriage, something that is unique and deserving of care.

 310.

 311.

 312.
Hawaii wedding locations are some of the best in the world, with everything from breathtaking ocean views to exquisite estates, exquisite ballrooms, elegant guesthouses, and serene casual caf s. Any vacation filled with excitement is sure to be cherished as much as the honeymoon. Couples that have gotten married in Hawaii have always stated that it is one of the nicest places they have ever traveled to. There is just something about Hawaii that makes you feel at home.

 313.
When planning your upcoming wedding in Hawaii, you want to choose a location that will make your guests feel like they have truly been transported back in time. Whether you are looking for a beachfront wedding on a posh island like Oahu or a wedding at one of the many resorts on the Big Island, you will find that Hawaii has it all.

 314.
Beautiful beaches and mountains surround the islands of Hawaii. Some of the most popular wedding locations are Diamond Head Crater and Kapueokahi Bay, where the ceremony and reception will take place. Other popular beach wedding locations are the Makapuu, Magic Island Lagoon, North Shore, Kualoa, and Koolina. The Island of Oahu (Honolulu) features a number of great beaches including Diamond Head, Lanikai and Waikiki. Honolulu has several top-notch resorts. You can also choose a mountain wedding location such as Kualoa (where Jurassic Park was filmed).

 315.
If you are looking for a place to have an outdoor ceremony and reception, there are many wonderful options. Many couples prefer to wed at a location with breathtaking scenery. One popular choice is having an outdoor ceremony on private vacation property. These types of locations are often secluded, private, and only allow a small group of people onto the property for the ceremony and reception.

 316.
If you prefer an indoor ceremony, you have several options. One popular option is renting an indoor facility on Oahu. There are breathtaking views of the ocean from every angle. The location is secluded, yet very close to all the action in the area. Another excellent location for an indoor ceremony is the Koolau Ballroom.

 317.
Koolau Ballroom is one of the finest ballrooms in the world. With sweeping windows and beautiful floors, this venue is perfect for an outdoor reception or ceremony. This venue is also ideal for a large family or couple.

 318.
Hawaii is known for its beautiful scenery. Many couples want to take advantage of this scenery by choosing island wedding locations that are breathtaking. Some of the more lush islands to choose from include Oahu, Maui, and Hawaii’s big island. Oahu and Maui have lush groves of trees that surround the beaches. Hawaii’s big island is the home of the famous Hawaii Magazine Festival.

 319.
Maui has some great beaches to choose from. Many Hawaii wedding venues are located near the beaches. Whether you want an indoor venue or an outdoor reception, you can find the perfect location for your big day on the south shore of Maui.

 320.
There are many tropical fruits to choose from in Hawaii. If you are looking for a wedding venue that is not located on the beach, Hawaii offers some fantastic oceanfront locations. These locations offer tropical cuisines that will make your guests feel right at home. Consider an indoor or outdoor reception on the north shore of Oahu, a private ceremony on the south shore of Hawaii or a fabulous reception on the Koolau Peninsula.

In their eyes, sex was only permissible within the confines of marriage, an institution mandated by the Almighty Creator. These teenagers adopted an extreme materialist worldview, one devoid of spirituality and objective meaning. They would have countered with a retort, asserting their personal definition of spirituality.

 325.

 326.
This “spirituality” was not the of their parents, instead it focused on exploration and self gratification. Contrasting with their parents (and their generation), Baby Boomer teenagers felt no need to defer to Scripture, a perceived relic with nothing of value to contribute. This period saw a major Exodus from the Church (and Synagogue), with stores electing to open on Sundays, the day traditionally allocated for religious services and family.

 327.

 328.
This period also saw the birth of “no fault divorce”, the ability to seek marital termination without cause or reason. While the libertarians saw this as a milestone towards complete emancipation, the family breakdown had a devastating impact on people for generations to come. Instead of a divorced family being a social pariah, it became the norm, not the exception. Over time it became normalized, developing the sentiment that marriage is not for life but (instead) for love.

 329.

 330.
Of course, life and love are two completely separate concepts. The former suggests a permanent commitment, one ending only upon death. On the other hand love is a fleeting emotion, a rush that can go up only to crash back down. Should you base your life on an emotion, especially one that is subject to fluctuation? What if you decide that you love someone only to change your mind the morning after?

 331.

 332.
The Judeo-Christian premise asserts that love is a byproduct of commitment, not the other way around. Instead of living just in the moment, Scripture instructs all people to put the marriage before one's own personal interest or agenda. Is this easy? Of course not. Then again, if it were easy it wouldn’t be valuable.

 333.

 334.
Does this sound preachy, perhaps a bit cliché and dated? Perhaps to the Boomers, a generation that experienced traditional religious life. Consider the Millennials-and Gen Z’ers-two generations who have never known a world structured in this fashion. Perhaps some children attend religious services, especially among the ethnic-immigrant communities to the West. However, for the average White Canadian (or American) there is little familiarity with such things, despite interest growing (in online religious queries) after Covid manifested. Despite the immediate gratification of commercialism, it provides nothing worth living for, nor a hill worth dying on.

 335.

 336.
As the old mantra goes “the best way to predict the future is to understand the past”. Life is about change, unceasingly change, reflected beautifully in the seasons. When one ideology gets pushed to the margin, a greater force demands change in the opposite direction. This can be seen clearly with elections, cycling rapidly between conservative and liberal priorities. Putting this into context, the emptiness of materialism forces people to search deep for meaning, the kind that cannot be bought at the local mall.

 337.

 338.
Marriage is a gamble, perhaps the biggest gamble that one can make. However, if done correctly, can lead to a lifetime of happiness, children, grandchildren and legacy. Jewish marriage seeks to connect past couples to the (specific) couple getting married that day, bridging the generations; connecting the nation of Israel beyond time and space. The Christian view sees marriage as the ultimate reflection of God’s love for humanity, demanding spouses be selfless in their dedication to the family. Both teach that honouring one's wife (or husband) is a form of service to the Creator.

 339.

 340.
In conclusion, marriage isn’t dying, instead it is being delayed. This can be problematic for women, especially considering the fertility clock that beats louder after age thirty. As unfair as it seems, men are given more time to decide, a recipe for disaster when courting a woman nearing that age threshold. This (in itself) can cause problems in dating, with the female rushing towards marriage in a way that can make the man uncomfortable.

 341.

 342.
It is easy to cite all the divorce statistics, highlighting the reasons why marriage is unfavourable and so forth. However, (in my opinion) this is very shallow thinking, suggesting an insecurity with one’s ability to select a good mate. This is difficult-clearly-but doable, especially with a little support.

 348.

 349.
Paris may be most popular destination for couples, but it is not the only romantic destination! Today, one of the most trusted celebrant partners, Rev. James Chun, gives all the inside secrets on how a couple can have a dream beach wedding at Hawaii.

 350.

 351.
Today, many couples are considering getting married in Hawaii because of the romantic atmosphere and the great weather conditions. As a result, many couples are hiring the services of a professional wedding planner to handle all their details from the planning to the final details of their weddings. A Hawaii wedding minister can often do this same thing-planning, executing and monitoring weddings that are taking place in Hawaii and even offering consultation and feedback on how to make their special day even more special.

 352.

 353.
There are some couples who have no idea what they want except for a Hawaii wedding minister to plan their special day. However, there is no such thing as a typical destination wedding. Instead, there are a variety of different options for weddings in Hawaii. For example, couples can choose between a grand beach wedding ceremony or even a private, intimate ceremony held by a family member or friend. It all depends on the individuals and the relationships that are involved.

 354.
In addition to having a variety of different options, there are also some top destinations that are considered to be the finest wedding establishments in Hawaii and these include the Aloha Stadium, Pearl Harbor and the Polynesian Cultural Center on Oahu. There are also many couples that would love to get married in Paris, France, or at the Chateau de Versailles on Maui. However, because these options are so varied, it is up to the bride and groom to find a Hawaii wedding minister that they are comfortable with. Fortunately, there are many ministers in Oahu and other islands that are willing to assist with any wedding arrangements that need to be made.

 355.

 356.
When it comes to the actual ceremony, many couples like to get married in an elope on Oahu. This is one of the most popular locations for elopement ceremonies. This is because the weather on Oahu is wonderful year round. The waters of the Pearl Harbor and the nearbyalias are beautiful all year around and there is very little else that you need to worry about. Couples that decide to get married on Oahu need to remember that there may be some damage that will need to be repaired prior to the ceremony.

 357.
If you would prefer to get married in another location than on Oahu, there are also a number of different locations that are considered to be the best wedding venues in Hawaii. Some of the most popular are the Big Island of Hawaii. These have some of the most spectacular views and the most beautiful settings that can be found in Hawaii and with an outdoor wedding ceremony. You can even have your ceremony under the stars on a night wedding if you wish.

 358.

 359.
Another option that couples who wish to get married in Hawaii have is to have their wedding in a church or temple. There are a number of great temples in Hawaii that are available to rent for the duration of your wedding ceremony. Of course, not everyone is allowed to wed in a temple so it is important to make sure that you do your research prior to arriving on the island. Hawaii has an authorized reverend that can come to your wedding and officiate. This is a very popular option for people who would like to have the religious element of the wedding without needing to worry about performing the ceremony in a church. Many of the hotels in Oahu even allow you to perform your ceremony in their hallowed halls.

 360.
Finding the right Hawaii wedding minister is not that difficult. Hawaii has plenty of different options that you can choose from when making up your plans. You can also hire a wedding planner that will take care of all of the details of the planning and execution of your wedding ceremony. The best thing to do in order to find the right official is to consult with different professionals that can provide you with their expertise in this area. This way you can easily get the information you need in order to choose the best officiant for your special day.

 369.
Generally there are two main worldviews, one belonging to the East (China, Japan, Korea) and the other to the West. The West currently is dominated by the Anglosphere (United States, Canada and so forth) but has its roots in Mesopotamia (modern Iraq), Israel, Greece and Italy. One could simplify by saying that the Western Tradition is the marriage of the Judeo-Christian Worldview to the Greco-Roman Philosophers.

 370.

 371.
The goal of this article is to simplify the concept, allowing the unfamiliar to become familiar. The list is not exhaustive, simply a collection of points that point to the concept, giving vague information for mass consumption.

 372.

 373.
The paradigm started in the fertile Levant Crescent, specifically centered on Jerusalem, the socio-economic corridor at the time. Far from monolithic, the geographic location (of the city) required travellers to pass through, creating one of the first prominent multicultural communities. While all tribes believed in a Diety, some worshiped idols while others attached to Ethical Monotheism. In other words, the belief that there is a God and that He expects moral conduct from us.

 374.

 375.
The Bible is its founding Document. Scripture is broken down into two parts, the Torah (or Old Testament) and the Gospel (New Testament). While Christians (generally) believe in the merit of both, the Jews reject the latter, claiming that it is inauthentic. In spite of these theological quarrels, both faiths progressed in tandem, working off one another. In other words, in the pursuit of defending their own dogma-and attacking others-critical thinking developed. This is summarized in the principle that the Creator is Ordered; He can only create a world that reflects his nature.

 376.

 377.
Knowledge is not just about making money or practical affairs. People have a unique ability to be conscious, aware of their own experiences and conduct. While animals can perceive stimuli, they cannot make moral judgements. There is a great emphasis on exploring our origins, even if the thinker assumes an atheistic position. Instead of forcing conformity-like the Eastern Tradition-the Western equivalent prioritizes creativity and innovation. This is why inventions are developed in the West but manufactured in the East.

 378.

 379.
Greek Philosophers Matter. Aristotle and Socrates are described using the term “Pagans” meaning that they subscribed to folk religions, including nature and ancestor worship. Of course they didn’t use this term themselves, instead it was later instilled by Christian missionaries. Over the generations, each side had taken aim at the other, all in the pursuit of being crowned “The Truth”. Without going too much into detail, this conflict was not simply theoretical, but instead resulted in mass slaughter and systematic oppression.

 380.

 381.
The Western Tradition results from conflict between two sides trying to assert legitimacy. In other words, if the other was absent, it would not have developed as it had. The Eastern Tradition heavily weighs the collective over the individual, (generally) discounting any concepts of an Afterlife. This is not to say that the Western Tradition wasn’t (or isn’t) populated by atheists, instead that the atheists exist as result of their rejection of the status quo. Even though they may “oppose” each other (Theists and Atheists) both value freedom of speech.

 382.

 383.
Personal Freedom is a Priority. Many foreigners are confused about Westerners, especially Americans. The country is the essence of the Western Ideal, allowing freedom of religion, speech, movement and assembly. Enshrined in the Declaration of Independence, these rights are inalienable, coming directly from the Creator.

 384.

 385.
Humor Soothes the Soul. Even when discussing grave topics-like death-Western thinkers are quick to offer a joke. Also called “Black Humour'', it serves to mitigate people's fear, by giving them an outlet for their insecurities. While the Eastern Tradition discusses death, it frames it as a naturally occuring endeavor, not dissimilar from leaves changing colour in the fall. As such, there is no personal chance at redemption, nor a chance at a meaningful afterlife. In Buddhism (which fueled Eastern Philosophy) the goal is to erase the self, entering into a state of Nirvana. The Western would not see this as meaningful, at least from their point of origin.

 386.

 387.
Obsession about Progress. Of course, not all progress is good. Consider the situation of the atomic bomb, which destroyed two prominent Japanese cities in the 1940’s. Had the technology not been developed, a less lethal alternative would have been employed. This begs the question, if Westerners are obsessed about progress, what is the ultimate goal? Will (Westerners) stop pushing the envelope once their goals are realized? I say not. One could describe this phenomenon as fear, being afraid of living in the here and now. If we are always focusing on tomorrow, we can never concentrate, living in the moment.

 388.

 389.
Westerners love to help, to assert their dominance. While America delivers vast quantities of resources-to the developing world-it does so under the guise of supremacy. The recipients know who is boss, who is dependant. The money is not free, requiring countries to acquiesce to American interests, providing favours without hesitation. Furthermore, Western families feel better when they help those less fortunate, an ethos birthed in the Judeo-Christian narrative. It teaches that charity does more for the giver than the receiver, giving them an elevated social profile in addition to benefits in the hereafter.

 398.

 399.
On Death and Dying

 400.
I remember when I was a small child, accompanying my father to a variety of Jewish functions. The weddings were magical, despite not understanding what exactly was going on. I saw my father serving his community, our community.

 401.

 402.
The funerals were almost hushed, as if not to offend the evil eye. Of course these are my words, based on my understanding of Jewish culture and practice.

 403.

 404.
It was clear that funerals were not weddings, quite the antithesis of the latter. Their parents' eyes were different, something removed that was previously there. Now I see it for what it is, rightful mourning. An appropriate reaction to life's greater tragedy. Regardless of what happens to the soul, we all leave behind an empty spot in the interconnected web of life. Unlike machines, people cannot be replaced.

 405.

 406.
As a thirty something year old man, I started thinking about death roughly ten years ago. Like many young people, I saw myself as invisible, with really bad things only happening to other people. Once death hit my family, it transitioned from the realm of theory to the realm of the personal.

 407.

 408.
Death is usually hidden, discussed with euphemisms and allegory. This can do a disservice to those who wish to avoid the subject, and I am not just talking about wills and estates. In fact, death does much to impact the realm of the living. It forces other people to take notice, to look into the mirror, and to assess their own mortality. This can be a breakthrough moment, causing someone to make greater use of their time.

 409.

 410.
On Purpose

 411.

 412.
If death is the end of life, what is life? What is our purpose? Why did so many things happen, in perfect order, for you to be reading this post at this time? Think of the insane number of factors that had to line up perfectly, one deviation removed from never have existed. Let that fact humble you, as it surely humbles me.

 413.

 414.
As with cars being designed by a designer, people have the same essence. Our body parts are perfectly engineered, discarding any emphasis on sickness or defect. For life to manifest, in any fashion, begs the thinking man (and woman) to look closer.

 415.

 416.
Scripture speaks greatly on death, planting it firming within the narrative offered in the text. The Abrahamic Tradition (Jewish, Christianity, and Islam) proclaim Ethical Monotheism, as revealed through the Prophets. In other words, there is One God and He cares about the condition of our soul. Both collectively and as an individual.

 417.

 418.
I do not find it productive to overwhelm people with Scripture, especially if the person comes with little familiarity on the subject. The best approach (in my opinion) is to let the person lead, providing an ear and company. Few people are in the mood to be preached at, especially if time is limited. However, many people have questions, perhaps answered they have pondered over the years. Even if someone is a staunch atheist, they might ask what the traditions teach, even if it provides no comfort. The idea is to be there, both in body and in spirit.

 419.

 420.

 421.
Moral Foundation for the Afterlife

 422.

 423.
Let’s assume the premise that there is a Creator, one that gave humans agency (freedom to choose Good over Evil). If this God is a Moral God, how can the innocent be murdered while criminals are exalted? This would create a problem, necessitating intervention. While God has (and does) interfere in our world, most conditions are earned by our own hubris. With freedom comes rights and responsibilities, unique in the world, unknown to other living creatures.

 424.

 425.
Humans have freewill, the ability to act in accordance with one's own personal volition. This is not afforded to animals, who can only act in accordance with their nature. Thinking about it like this, do lions murder zebras or kill them? Is the lion evil? What did he do that deviated from His design, His Essence?

 426.

 427.
Of course not! Evil is within the scope of morality, completely foreign to animals and other forms of life. Furthermore humans have a much greater impact on our environment, able to change it due to the organized nature of the universe. This is another argument for Intelligent Design, a topic that I will explore further in future blog posts and so forth.

 428.

 429.
Is it possible to comfort someone facing death? Yes, it happens all the time. Some people expect an affirmation of the afterlife while others seek to repent for their sins. The human relationship (with God) needs no middle man, regardless of what the Pope may say. He has given all of us the chance to approach Him, personally, without fear or hesitation.

 430.

 431.
In the Jewish Tradition, the sick are asked to recite a Vidui Prayer, a petition (to God) for the cleaning of the soul. There are several traditions kept-at least offered-which prepare the Soul for its return. The Jewish view sees life as a duality, a complementary relationship between the soul and the body. Without a body, the soul would have no way of interacting with the material world. On the other hand, a body without a soul cannot do anything but remain dormant.

 432.

 433.
Christian tradition asks believers for a reaffirmation in Jesus and in the promises of everlasting life. The Christian rite is based on the Jewish system, breaking away due to a disagreement on the identity of the Messiah. Like Jews, Christians read from the Psalms, especially 93 and 121. Christianity is built on the theological framework of Judaism, inheriting the same eschatology and imagery. The educated Christian will understand the nature of the Torah, including the poetic discourses found in the Prophetic Writings.

 434.

 435.
Consider the Lord's Prayer, the ultimate confession that Christians make when facing death. It is very similar to the Jewish equivalent, placing absolute Sovereignty in the Highest Judge on the Highest Court. It demands that the person accept their place in the Cosmos, completely subservient to the Creator. By proclaiming God, you are proclaiming purpose, a promise in of itself.

 436.

 437.
I believe that God has a purpose for everyone, regardless of their background, ethnicity, or personal history. I believe that He is accessible to all, without caveat or exception.

 438.

 439.
Practicalities

 440.

 441.
Like birth, death is a magical moment, demanding our attention and care. It should not be ignored, spoken about in hushed tones. Instead it should be discussed with honesty and transparency. It is wrong to lie to children, even if the answer is potentially hurtful. They should be taught to understand the human life cycle, giving meaning to their lives from an early age. When something is limited in quantity, it rises in value.

 442.

 452.

 453.
Unlike what our wedding industry may claim, there is no correlation between amount paid (for the wedding) and the longevity of the marriage. The wedding is a celebration of the vows, binding two people together for the purpose of edification. Marriage is difficult, requiring both parties to give it their all, putting other people before their own interest. Of course there are many benefits to marriage, but none of them are connected to the wedding celebration itself. While the day can be magical, it need not be so expensive that you need to mortgage your home, or leverage it at collateral. Furthermore, many newlyweds lack a personal home, whether they live at home or rent.

 454.

 455.
Just to be clear, you will not get a Kennedy-esque wedding on a shoestring, but you can make it just as memorable. Here are some tips to help guide your wedding planning, ensuring that the right things are emphasized and the thrills are reduced.

 456.

 457.

 458.

Instead of booking the biggest wedding venue, look for offseason deals in November through to April. Many are will to offer significant discounts, especially since the Covid Pandemic has hit this industry particularly hard.

 459.

If you have a cottage, consider getting married there. If you have your wedding ceremony on private property (whether owned by family or friends) it will allow more resources for other endeavors.

 460.

As your friends who they have used (as vendors) and see who they liked. Many vendors are thrilled to offer a discount, especially if referred by a satisfied client. Use your personal network to see who is in the wedding business.

 461.

If your synagogue or church requires you to book the entire facility for the service, you can elect to hire another wedding officiant, who can come to you or you can come to them. If you are working with a lower budget, many religious wedding officiants will appreciate the situation and charge accordingly.

 462.

There is no need to have a huge wedding, where the guests are (generally) unknown to the couple. This could be due to the parents (of the bride and groom) inviting all of their friends, colleagues, and acquittances. You have the right to chose who comes to your wedding, especially if you want to keep the ceremony low key and intimate.

 463.

If you are booking a wedding venue, ask if you can bring in outside food. This could be relevant if the food is overpriced or subpar. While many wedding venues refuse such requests, this can be an area of negotiation, especially during the offseason. Even if they have accepted outside food (in the past) they may no longer agree to do so, especially after the new Provincial Covid Guidelines.

 464.

If you are keen on hiring live entertainment, it may be advantageous to do some independent research, especially on social media. While it is unethical to offer nothing, many musicians are willing to lower their price, especially since the industry has no fully recovered (as of 2021).

 465.

If you are interested in a legal wedding ceremony-but under 20 people-one option is to reserve a restaurant room. There you can ensure intimacy, with only the most important people being present. To execute the legal wedding requirement, a wedding officiant can be hired to attend the wedding, doing the ceremony before everyone years.

 480.

 481.
The wedding is highly personal, a reflection of unique tastes, preferences, and faith. Some people are not religious and elect a civil ceremony, focusing on the legal aspect and not the religious implications. However, many secular (or unaffiliated) people value tradition, connecting the past, to the present, to the future. These type of couples enjoy referencing God, especially the romantic aspects of the Bible.

 482.

 483.
A civic ceremony can be done by a judge, justice of the peace, or clerk at town hall. They cover just the legal requirements, ensuring that both parties are eligible (for marriage) and understand the nature of the process. This is not to say that it cannot be romantic, instead that it is the exception not the norm. Most marriages (in Ontario) are officiated by religious clergy, such as myself. To summarize this point, you do not need to be "religious" to have a religious ceremony. All you have to do is see value, chasing this format the the right one for your big day!

 484.

 485.
In addition to the Ontario legal requirements, I contextualize the event by referencing bible passages, stories, or relevant Proverbs (the writing of King Solomon of Israel). Used in both Jewish and Christian services, both traditions tend to ground the proceeding in the same traditions, passed down thousands of years, generation to generation. Jewish Weddings have unique attributes, both in language and in appearance. Jewish weddings are held under a Chuppah, or a decorative canopy. It is designed to represent a house, in a way the first home that the couple will occupy. Furthermore, there are individual traditions that are based on the ethnicity of the Jew, whether it be Ashkenazic, Sephardic or Mizrahi. While they vary in constitution (food, order and so forth) the same elements are included, making the ceremony binding according to the Laws of Moses (the Father of Ethnical Monotheism).

 486.

 487.
Christian Weddings make use of Paul's Epistles, the 1st century Jewish writer who developed said Theology. It is quite poetic, drawing parallels between God's love for Humanity and a husband's love for his wife. In addition, they also reference the Song of Solomon, said to be the most romantic passages found in Scripture. Christian weddings are multifaceted, with this paragraph focussing on Protestant Weddings. However, other branches have their own rites and liturgy.

 488.

 489.
If a couple is interested in a Rabbi, I am happy to coofficiate the service with them. A Rabbi chants the traditional prayers, grounded in Halacha (Jewish Law) making the wedding "Kosher". Furthermore, it is a Rabbi who signs the Ketubah, or Jewish legal marriage certificate. This is separate from the legal process (which I am licensed to do) but is a benefit for people seeking access to the formal Jewish community. As well, A Jewish Marriage license will help any potential immigration to the State of Israel.

 490.

 491.
Regardless of your background, I am here to serve you and your family. I will customize the vows, ceremony, procession, and signing. My job is not only to execute the civil responsibilities, but ensure that your day is perfect, to be remembered fondly for years to come.

You get to marry the love of your life, in front of your community, friends, family, and Creator. You get to wear special clothes, eat special foods, and dance! I am talking about the legal aspect, here in the Canadian Province of Ontario.

 505.

 506.
According to the Federal Marriage Act (2005) there are conditions that must be met before the marriage is registered and a permanent marriage certificate is received in the mail. While the process is not difficult, I have written this blog post to simplify it as much as possible.

 507.

 508.
To officiate a wedding (in Ontario) one must be either a civil officer (like a judge or justice of the peace) or a registered religious clergy. Each registered wedding officiate is issued a unique number, imputed and signed by the officiant, the bride and groom, and witnesses. This is a formal legal ceremony, binding together two people into one common household. My role (as wedding officiant) is to get to know the couple, generate a customized ceremony, help draft vows, and discuss the religious aspect of the event. As the lynchpin of society, God has mandated marriage as the preferred context for human relationship and development. In fact one can say that it is a miracle, a token of God's love for us, and his unyielding commitment to his people.

 509.

 510.

 511.

Choose your date of marriage, taking note that marriage licensed expire if not used in time.

 512.

Get your fiancé's driver's license (or passport) and head down to city hall. Only one of you has to go.

 513.

Show the ID to the clerk, get the completed form, save for the area completed by the officiant.

 514.

Let me know the date, and (if available) will secure your place.

 515.

At the place of marriage, the signing parties will congregate and satisfy the legal questions mandated.

 516.

The document is signed, the newlyweds received a signed certificate, I will send the completed form to Service Ontario via Canada Post Xpresspost.

 517.

Wait 3-6 weeks and, VOILA, your official marriage license arrives in the mail! Congratulations!

 518.

 519.
This signifies only the legal requirement, not the spiritual dimension. Marriage is a Holy Union, bringing with it unique benefits and responsibilities. In a sense, the vows are the religious element of the wedding, pledging to ve virtuous, loyal, and charitable. The secular law does not make character demands, simply that the candidates are eligible for marriage. As with all things, the wedding must be a balance between the material and the spiritual.

 520.

 521.
As always, I am here to help.
