They sent me a box chock full of almond paste and several of their pastry and pie fillings and asked me to come up with an original recipe. I pondered over this for a while before I began to bake. I wanted to make something different and not the typical macaroon or almond cake. This little recipe has been one of the my most popular, only second to my <a href="http://dozenflours.com/2009/04/better-than-starbucks-lemon-pound-cake.html" target="_blank">Better Than Starbucks Lemon Poundcake,</a> and has a bit of a cult following. There are so many reasons to love this recipe: they take almost no time to make, their taste and texture appeals to the pickiest of palettes, they are inexpensive to make, they smell amazing when they are baking.. Why? Well, because I&#39;m a hard-headed dork, of course. Actually there&#39;s really no good reason. I wanted to make this in spite of the fact that I only had about four hours sleep AND got up at 5:30am to workout AND made dinner AND cleaned a good portion of the house (I even scrubbed a large swath of my kitchen floor on my hands and knees!) We&#39;ve had more cold, wet, and downright miserable game days than I can count. And through it all, the steadfast family and friends of the players sat huddled under blankets and umbrellas, clapping and cheering for every kid on the team. I cannot count myself among this incredible group of fans, I have only attended games when the weather was decent. Selfish? Probably. But considering all the games and practices I&#39;ve attended over the years and my sincere hatred of being cold, I felt it was okay. She just asked that whatever I came up with didn&#39;t include nuts. I wanted to make her something really unique and unexpected. After a few days of thinking about it I had the idea for creating a Snickerdoodle Blondie. I wanted to combine the same texture of a brownie with the crunchy cinnamon shell of a Snickerdoodle. I couldn&#39;t find any on the web, so I invented one. This recipe came out exactly as I wanted!
