Reymundo F. Dela Cruz, the artist behind the exhibit, refers to his works as sculpted acrylic paintings, as they combine paint, metal, canvas, and <em>semento</em>, the Filipino loanword for cement.</p> <p>Born in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, Dela Cruz earned a degree in Marketing Management from De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde in 2011. He started as a security officer and eventually rose to management roles in the security sector. He later founded a company specializing in commercial pots and manufacturing sales. Currently, he serves as a board member of Likha ng Bulacan Entrepreneurship Inc. and presides over the art-civic organization Obra ni 1 Bayan.</p> <p>Notably, the NCCA Gallery exhibition marks Dela Cruz’s first solo show.</p> <p>More than a mere display of mixed media, the exhibit is a testament to the regeneration of natural ecologies, the empowerment of women, and the upliftment of the common citizen. Dela Cruz believes that while his works are pre-conceived, they ultimately evolve into a final, textured abstraction—a calcified yet ethereal resolution.</p> <p><em>Ethereal Resilience: Sculpted Stories</em> runs from March 12 to 30 at the NCCA Gallery. Furthermore, Members of the NCCA Board of Commissioners, SCA committee heads and members and NCCA secretariat graced the prestigious event.</p> <p>In his welcome speech, Chair Manalo highlighted the significance of the artists’ contribution to both national and global culture.</p> <p>“They (artists) open doors for future generations of artists, inspiring young talents to pursue their passions with confidence … When they see someone from their homeland winning awards, they believe that they, too, can achieve greatness,” he added.</p> <p>Wearing their Barong Tagalog and Filipiniana, the awardees accepted their trophy full of honor, embodying the nation’s pride that continuously put the Philippines in the map of arts.</p> <p>Maria Ira S. Reyes, president of BAWZ—a group recipient for dance, delivered an acceptance speech on behalf of the awardees. </p> <p>“This recognition affirms our dedication, hardwork, passion we pour to our craft as artists … While winning internationally is an incredible achievement, nothing compares to the pride of being recognized at home by a national institution,” Reyes said. </p> <p>The Ani ng Dangal, or Harvest of Honor, is a state acknowledgment granted by NCCA This uear’s Ani is both a highlight activity and marks the conclusion of National Arts Month (NAM).</p> <p>ED Zerrudo shared that each artist are ambassadors of the country’s culture and our creativity wherein it has also become a contribution towards the betterment of the world with culture and the arts.<img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" src="https://lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com/docsz/AD_4nXdctoXiHruLdab6vChmfb8vPcg0rK_IM2gBvrtjhy_eVFl-5DHETDYplirkGLLR98uqMSDbzjjrkOknQHj5UyHYjXIxBBSADoxbbCBt41x9AT6NQCbdn8Ix8jjNqq63ksw8Z_MQnmCFnP04KGhEz-w?key=qmxtIJMCFeWgGuFi_fZqIscv" width="270" height="395"></p> <p>“You have big responsibilities, you’re not just a champion, but the champion of the world,” he added during his closing speech.</p> <p>The <em>Ani ng Dangal </em>trophy is stylized <em>sarimanok</em> sculpted by National Artist for Visual Arts Abdulmari Imao, which represents the Filipino artist’s achievements in the global stage. The logo of <em>Ani ng Dangal</em>, stylized rice stalk, alludes to the rice harvest as metaphor for an art harvest: a product of the creative process that expresses the dreams, aspiration, and ideals of the Filipino artist. It bears seven grains, which is representative of the seven arts, while its bright colors evoke the festive mood of NAM, symbolizing the abundance and excellence of Filipino artistry.</p> <p>This year’s Ani ng Dangal honorees from the Architecture and Allied Arts are: Frenjick Quesada of Design Hirayama +Quesada who won the Titan Property Awards, Residential High-Rise, 2024, Christina Periquet who won the Asia Pacific Property Award’s Residential Show Home category for the Filigree Showsuites; Chartra Paz “Chat” Fores who won the International Property Award 2024-2025, Winner for Leisure with 5 Stars; Royal Pineda who won the Travel Trades Excellence Award for Clark International Airport 2024; William Ti, the Overall Winner of the WAFX Awards, World Architecture Festival (WAF) 2021 Masterplan; the LPPA Design Group, Inc./ L.P Parinas & Associates-Architecture who brought home the 5-Star Best Mixed-Use Architecture award twice at the Asia Pacific Property Awards in Thailand and International Property Awards Global in United Kingdom; and lastly, Archiglobal which won the 2023 Best Architecture Design and 2023 Best Commercial Building Architecture Design.</p> <p>For Cinema, eight (8) honorees are recognized: Rian Simon Cabatingan Magtaan who won the Golden Kinabalu Award for Best Documentary for his film “The Night is Drunk When We Suffer” at the 14<sup>th</sup> Kota Kinabalu Award International Film Festival 2023; Cris Bringas, writer and producer of “All These Wasted Space” which won the Golden Reel Award – Best Narrative Short; Sasa Cabalquinto who won the Best Performance Award in the film “Vox Humana” during the Singapore International Film Festival; Sonny Calvento, a writer who won the Asian Academy Creative Awards in Singapore and Best Short Form Content in the Philippines by Singapore’s Asian Academy Creative Awards for “Primetime Mother”; Carl Lara who directed Berlin Newgen Best Short Film “Rumbles of the Earth”; Director Sheron Dayoc for his film “Gospel of the Beast” which won the Best Feature Narrative at the 17th Bali International Film Festival/ BALINALE 2024; actress Max Eigenmann as Best Actress for her performance in the Film “Kargo” at the ASEAN International Film Festival and Awards (AIFFA); and Carlo Obispo, Best Director for the film “A Baseball Player” at the ASEAN International Film Festival and Awards (AIFFA).</p> <p>Six (6) dance groups in various genres are recognized as Ani ng Dangal honorees: Bailes De Luces, the winner of multiple awards at the 27<sup>th</sup> World Championship of Performing Arts in Long Beach, California, USA; Halili Cruz School of Ballet, multiple awardee at the Asia Pacific Dance Competition in Bangkok, Thailand; UPEEPZ, World Champion at the Mega Crew Division during the 2024 Hip Hop Dance Championship in Phoenix, Arizona; The Isabelenos really look forward to this yearly because the provincial government makes sure to come up with musical extravaganza and events that could rival concerts in Manila.</p> <p>Governor Rodito T. Albano III and Bambanti 2025 Director General and Vice Governor Faustino “Bojie” G. Dy wants to make the Isabelenos truly happy for a week of the non-religious feast highlighting the province’s bountiful harvests, its hard-working farmers and their allies in the fields – the bambantis of the scarecrows.</p> <p>For the Bambanti Festival 2025, Isabela made sure that the big names in the OPM industry were there to entertain and serenade the Isabeleños who came from all over the province’s 34 municipalities and three cities and join the fun in the City of Ilagan.</p> <p>Nightly, from January 20-25, the festival held shows at the Queen Isabela Park for its music festival component that included “Acoustic Night,” featuring the bands of Over October, ShortNoticed Unplugged, and DJ Dom; “Rap Night,” featuring upcoming rappers kiddotin, Robledo Timido, Dyco and the group Halfway Velocity; “Battle of the Bands,” participated by Midnight Cravings – Farah, Rivals Of Tomorrow, Bandila, 5id, Myx-Ture, Reverie, Kahidlaw- Maria, And Banyuhay; “Acoustic Night 2,” featuring the MYMP and Marya Klara; and “Ginuman Night,” featuring Nik Makino, Shao Lin, and the bands Hale and Cosmic Superstition.</p> <p>The finale night witnessed an electrifying performance by Maki, known for his viral songs “Saan?” and “Bakit?” The crowd roared with excitement as the talented artist took the stage, captivating everyone with his strong charisma and undeniable charm. His hit song, “Dilaw” became an anthem of the night, with the audience enthusiastically singing along to every word. DJ Mayel and the Pulse Melody band provided support to Maki.</p> <p>Two major musical events were also held at the Isabela Sports Complex in the last days of the festival. First was the “Bambanti Festival 2025: Ang Piyesta ng Bagong Pilipinas!” featuring Lara Maigue, Gian Magdangal, and local talents led byRalph Angelo Babaran (grand champion of Isabela Got Talent 2025),together with the Whiplash Dance Company.</p> <p>For the grand concert,</p> <p>Moonstar88, led by its newest main vocalist Maysh Baay crooned “Pag-ibig Kong Ito” “Migraine”, “Torete”, “Panalangin,” and other hit songs.</p> <p>Meanwhile, versatile actress Alonzo mesmerized Isabela with her exuberance and beauty. The featured guest artist for the festival finale and grand concert, she sang “I Can Buy Myself Flowers” by Miley Cyrus and Sitti’s “Para sa Akin.”She also sang Popoy and Basha theme song, “I’ll Never Go,” that made the audience swoon.</p> <p>The magical night lingers on as the iconic Ely Buendia appears on the stage. He wowed every Isabeleño, both young and old, singing the artist’s songs to heart like a prayer. Fresh from his November 2024 concert at The Capital Arena, Buendia serenaded Isabela anew with phenomenal hit songs: “Pare Ko,” “Tamang Hinala,” “Spolarium,” “Maling Akala,” “Ligaya,” “Alapaap,” “With a Smile,” and saving the best for last, “Huling El Bimbo,” before calling it a night.</p> <p>The night is capped with the grandest of them all — the fireworks display that could rival exhibits in international competitions!</p> <p>Magical Isabela! Stell won the Wish Ballad Song of the Year (“Di Ko Masabi”) and Wish Breakthrough Artist of the Year awards. FELIP, on the other hand, took home the trophy Wish Rock/Alternative Song of the Year (“Kanako”). Meanwhile, Josh Cullen got the Wish Hip-hop Song of the Year (“GET RIGHT”). PABLO received one of the night’s highest awards: Wish Artist of the Year.</p> <p>Stell bagged this year’s Wishers’ Choice award after garnering the most number of votes across all nominations.</p> <p>Justin had his own moment when he and labelmate dwta capped of the night on a magical note. They graced the WMA stage with the yet-to-be-released song, “Sampung Mga Daliri.</p> <p>A momentous celebration of music and charity, Wish 107.5’s 10th Wish Music Awards at the Araneta Coliseum on Sunday, January 9, was WMAs’ biggest edition yet. The milestone celebration also honored two new KDR Icons, Ogie Alcacid and apl.de.ap. in recognition of their contributions to the industry.</p> <p>Hit maker Alcasid is currently OPM president while, apl.de.ap, a member of the Grammy-winning group Black Eyed Peas and founder of Apl.de.Ap Foundation International, is recognized for the foundation’s help in nurturing young creatives and his committment to giving back to communities and children.</p> <p>Kuya Daniel Razon, the man behind Wish 107.5, shared an inspiring message during the awards night.</p> <p>“We at Wish consider ourselves blessed because we were given the opportunity to help share your music with the world.
