<br />
With this post you may begin to think I am setting myself up to become an AlunaGeorge fan-site, so I would like to assure you I am not... However, I am a fan, I went to this last night, and I feel they're good enough to merit 2 posts. In a row. My next post will be about something completely different, honest.<br />
<br />
SO ANYWAY: Sunday night, Old Blue Last, AlunaGeorge single launch. Unfortunately I was running a little late, but I did manage to catch most of <a href="http://soundcloud.com/superrecordings/sets/spr006-throwing-snow-py">Throwing Snow &amp; Py</a>, who were pretty damn good. Lacking in the crowd interaction front maybe, but musically I liked it alot.. There are definite similarities with AG which go beyond the producer-with-female-vocals-on-top theme, but that is in no way a bad thing. In fact this is probably why they both have releases on/coming up on&nbsp;<a href="http://www.superrecordings.net/">Super</a>.<br />
<br />
Up next were Aluna &amp; George, complete with band. Here's a (blurry) picture for your enjoyment:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9KN00wcBnhGQ0lgeC-lO6Bh9HlaB5cM0i4ROzLvQ2CdL4fNZl0WyHj9vNBO9xES3u3Ze1saEz6qjKUsQlBp0bGVLHbujeBgj1DqEFDU7lZhQ-9mHAxhIV-HAXD9ac-uxkKtmF-bEP6xoz/s1600/agstage.jpg" /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="-webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: none; color: #444444;">seriously need a better camera</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Once again they smashed it. It's not often I go to see a band at OBL and see people look like they're actually having fun, (although I could be going to the wrong nights) but tonight they definitely did. The band were tight as fuck and everything just worked together really well. <a href="http://www.alunageorge.com/">AlunaGeorge</a> sound great on record but live it's a completely different experience and I personally much prefer it, even if their sets are a little on the short side.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I think I've spoken about these guys enough for now. Seriously, just go see them. You'll love it.</div></description><link>http://fasteddiie.blogspot.com/2011/08/alunageorge-single-launch-old-blue-last.html</link><author>noreply@blogger.com (FAST EDDIIE)</author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYzYLpWsetwapiPtJCGZZHOmQjX0N2UJA635lgIDRXZtkH4MOmDF1S909hSY_79_0WtgNx46QP21WYXWwwwTIrN1l4DNm4_pAytMaSKTh4B9SbYEk2-DPELQlZXKEBybOtGu7HJafeSw2o/s72-c/superalunageorge.jpg" height="72" width="72"/><thr:total>0</thr:total></item><item><guid isPermaLink="false">tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7036574440188667025.post-8174085809265681751</guid><pubDate>Wed, 06 Jul 2011 20:36:00 +0000</pubDate><atom:updated>2011-07-12T00:20:24.854+01:00</atom:updated><title>ALUNAGEORGE</title><description><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrtLXQj0Mf8j5DpB7hOrEdiPnLBZ7M6PKy5IoXQcTdxEg-l9Jvvv6VjmakaaOInomqjx9zOsF8Vql2RrwZSuP83C4JJRtda5o__ZDePcoM2-lWe5SM2C1dxcyoQB4V81GwvG7hnD35dcvJ/s1600/alunageorge.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrtLXQj0Mf8j5DpB7hOrEdiPnLBZ7M6PKy5IoXQcTdxEg-l9Jvvv6VjmakaaOInomqjx9zOsF8Vql2RrwZSuP83C4JJRtda5o__ZDePcoM2-lWe5SM2C1dxcyoQB4V81GwvG7hnD35dcvJ/s1600/alunageorge.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<br />
St. Albans' <a href="http://www.alunageorge.com/">AlunaGeorge</a> make noise that's so catchy it hurts. Combining vocals&nbsp;à la Sharon Woolf on <i>Sweet Like Chocolate </i>with melodic hooks and syncopated&nbsp;rhythms, they come out with bright pop that's pretty much irresistible. By cherry picking the best bits of garage, R&amp;B and pop, AlunaGeorge make music that sounds seriously fresh; it's deep enough to keep you coming back for repeated listens, while using that magic spark that pop has to instantly grab the ear.<br />
<br />
<object height="225" width="100%"> <param name="movie" value="http://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Fplaylists%2F426146&amp;show_comments=true&amp;auto_play=false&amp;show_playcount=false&amp;show_artwork=true&amp;color=697be3"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed allowscriptaccess="always" height="225" src="http://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Fplaylists%2F426146&amp;show_comments=true&amp;auto_play=false&amp;show_playcount=false&amp;show_artwork=true&amp;color=697be3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="100%"></embed> </object> <span><a href="http://soundcloud.com/alunageorge/sets/alunageorge">AlunaGeorge</a> by <a href="http://soundcloud.com/alunageorge">AlunaGeorge</a></span><br />
<br />
Producer George Reid, formerly of <a href="http://www.myspace.com/colouruk">Colour</a>, maintains a great sound throughout their recordings. The songs themselves are pretty eclectic; ranging from the radio friendly<i> Analyser</i> to the far more difficult,&nbsp;progressive&nbsp;sound of&nbsp;<i>Double Sixes</i>. He has though managed to mould a sound which ties the whole thing together, keeping the emphasis on the bounce,&nbsp;and using plastic synths throughout that suit the vocals perfectly.&nbsp;Songs like the smooth, mid-tempo&nbsp;<i>Body Music&nbsp;</i>may trick you into thinking you know what to expect from the outset, but the textures used give everything a bright, complex sound that just keeps giving as you listen.<br />
<br />
On vocals we have the lovely Aluna Francis, whose voice is distinctive yet familiar, harking back to the days when <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yGT8QzVzKU">garage was king</a>. Combined with the synths we get a sound that verges on artificial, yet comes straight from the vocal chords. This isn't a voice that brims with passion; as Aluna instead aims for a more conversational style of singing, using her voice to show character above all. This all adds to the charming, at times sickly-sweet sound, which I&nbsp;personally&nbsp;can't get enough of.<br />
<br />
On&nbsp;Saturday&nbsp;AlunaGeorge were the opening band for the launch night of <a href="http://www.ilovethenest.com/lemonade-launch-party/">Lemonade</a>, at the Nest in Dalston, and they were great. George and Aluna were joined by a drummer and bassist (of&nbsp;<a href="http://www.myspace.com/colouruk">Colour</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="http://www.asktubelord.com/">Tubelord</a>&nbsp;respectively), and they fucking smashed it. On record, they're great. Everything sounds perfect, but live with a full band they're even better. Songs like&nbsp;<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmjaGTOgQn4">You Know You Like It</a>&nbsp;are transformed with the&nbsp;addition&nbsp;of live instruments, and the sound at the venue was spot on.<br />
<br />
Aluna makes a great front-woman; stunning and talented, expressive and strong, and the band as a whole looked like they were genuinely into what they were doing. They communicated with the crowd, and got a great reception back. It's not often I go to see a band I haven't previously heard and enjoy it as much as this, so I seriously recommend you get down and see these guys ASAP. Failing that, their first single is <a href="http://recordings.sweetgroup.co.uk/">out now</a>, and next single <i>You Know You Like It</i>&nbsp;is out on the 22nd.</description><link>http://fasteddiie.blogspot.com/2011/07/alunageorge.html</link><author>noreply@blogger.com (FAST EDDIIE)</author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrtLXQj0Mf8j5DpB7hOrEdiPnLBZ7M6PKy5IoXQcTdxEg-l9Jvvv6VjmakaaOInomqjx9zOsF8Vql2RrwZSuP83C4JJRtda5o__ZDePcoM2-lWe5SM2C1dxcyoQB4V81GwvG7hnD35dcvJ/s72-c/alunageorge.jpg" height="72" width="72"/><thr:total>0</thr:total></item><item><guid isPermaLink="false">tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7036574440188667025.post-4837888303146007302</guid><pubDate>Sat, 04 Jun 2011 08:44:00 +0000</pubDate><atom:updated>2011-06-04T09:44:52.073+01:00</atom:updated><title>CLAPTON + WINWOOD @ THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL</title><description><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4vSCxFYJPLHj4yWIEvsrlP1Kin4IrAjr8smgtkA3_ZDieSV1G8pJ__1pvJBG-zTIiX0nKOHp-EJpIoBveemgul4AQR1wf60ed3jf2NgPMJWVtezzTv4BI3f1uxFJgXwkA-0kz90hx3Ec-/s1600/clappers.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4vSCxFYJPLHj4yWIEvsrlP1Kin4IrAjr8smgtkA3_ZDieSV1G8pJ__1pvJBG-zTIiX0nKOHp-EJpIoBveemgul4AQR1wf60ed3jf2NgPMJWVtezzTv4BI3f1uxFJgXwkA-0kz90hx3Ec-/s1600/clappers.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<br />
As Tuesdays work was drawing to a close, I got a sudden invitation to attend Eric Clapton with Steve Winwood at The Royal Albert Hall (cheers wig). How could I turn that down? I still had a few bugs to go, so I stuck on EC's <i>Unplugged, </i>and hastily finished up my work.<br />
<br />
These guys may have been playing the circuit for quite some time now, but they've definitely still got it. Winwood started out on the organ, and was great. Clapton's guitar playing was flawless, and both main vocals were spot on. The sound in the place was MASSIVE, while managing to be crystal clear throughout.<br />
<br />
They played for about 2 hours in total, (including an unexpected 20 minute cover of Voodo Chile) and even managed to rouse the audience of baby-boomers onto their feet for the electric finale. I didn't know all of the material they covered, but I actually enjoyed that stuff more than some of the stuff I'd heard before. The low point of the set was probably Layla, which just felt a bit flat and overplayed. Wasn't expecting that to be the case.<br />
<br />
After the set we went to the bar, and paid £4 for a bottle of beer. Seemed a bit excessive, so we left shortly after that. All in all it was a good night with two of the greats, both of whom I never expected to see live. I'm glad I did.<br />

It's actually pretty close to being my all time top record. I seriously love it. Everything on that record sounds amazing, and (with the exception of Pump Pump) they're so easy on the ears.<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="27" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/FTH2fDzyqOM?rel=0" width="900"></iframe><br />
<br />
So on Tuesday I got to actually go and see the man himself. I was pretty&nbsp;apprehensive, his recent releases being far below the high bar he set with his debut. I was preparing myself for a massive let down. In the end though, everything turned out great.<br />
<br />
First up was Beardyman, a beatboxer from London via Brighton (whey) who I also had never seen before, and he started out well. He can make an amazing range of sounds using only his voice, and his set varied from hip-hop through DnB to Dubstep. The hip-hop was great, the dnb was ok, and the dubstep was pretty average, but he did good as a warm up. He got pulled off stage eventually, and to take his place we had about 45 minutes of Snoop tracks playing through the sound system, which was pretty unorthodox... This went on for so long that by the time Snoop appeared they crowd were booing and whistling.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJnGGExSbh-Avrns-QAqHmFOONDnGuANWZp_04QrFZXztUo9iWGqWPpq9-jOAsBsMdvFu2WQu-69WBBXYeEE6YS6X4SJY_5-EI5MJSuEq_GVC9il7s0OaMev1ETbpQ44SMllCBRBL2aRdH/s1600/snoopy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; margin-bottom: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJnGGExSbh-Avrns-QAqHmFOONDnGuANWZp_04QrFZXztUo9iWGqWPpq9-jOAsBsMdvFu2WQu-69WBBXYeEE6YS6X4SJY_5-EI5MJSuEq_GVC9il7s0OaMev1ETbpQ44SMllCBRBL2aRdH/s1600/snoopy.jpg" /></a></div><div style="color: #444444; text-align: center;">yep, that's a QPR top</div><br />
Eventually though, he did appear, and he was great. He played a load of classics, Gin and Juice being my personal favourite, a fair few covers ranging from Biggie to Tupac via Nate Dogg, and a couple of new ones, which fell pretty flat tbh.&nbsp;Fortunately&nbsp;he didn't dwell on these for long though, so overall it was a great night.<br />
<br />
Rapping along to tracks which I've rapped a hundred times before never felt as good as doing it at the same time as the man himself, and it was an experience I'll never forget. He did a great selection of tunes, the sound was pretty good (way better than Wu-Tang anyway) and it was quite a show. The whole place was on their feet dancing and rapping, even in the upper seated section, and the vibe of the place couldn't have been better.<br />
<br />
This was definitely the best gig I've been to so far this year (closely followed by Entrepreneurs). I might have to get a Lovebox ticket now, as he's playing Doggystyle IN FULL! If you're a fan of Snoop, and get the chance to go see him, just do it. It'll be worth it I'm sure.</description><link>http://fasteddiie.blogspot.com/2011/05/snoop-dogg-kentish-town-forum.html</link><author>noreply@blogger.com (FAST EDDIIE)</author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="https://img.youtube.com/vi/FTH2fDzyqOM/default.jpg" height="72" width="72"/><thr:total>0</thr:total></item><item><guid isPermaLink="false">tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7036574440188667025.post-7687375931839210059</guid><pubDate>Mon, 25 Apr 2011 11:30:00 +0000</pubDate><atom:updated>2011-05-18T23:38:59.012+01:00</atom:updated><title>BEACHED</title><description><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifoYFJQH98gKINHNUjpWdFK_S1JZAlLFHWW_YR_QhAy_Nu0ln3nzYCnKNTLmOvXnIt3BEmfmowopGfnKmVQZi91IUvDk6UjKd0TyiTkUCVf4v4WrpP_JMm0yQ2D7ts9XRbHjG5B5gF9poA/s1600/brighton.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifoYFJQH98gKINHNUjpWdFK_S1JZAlLFHWW_YR_QhAy_Nu0ln3nzYCnKNTLmOvXnIt3BEmfmowopGfnKmVQZi91IUvDk6UjKd0TyiTkUCVf4v4WrpP_JMm0yQ2D7ts9XRbHjG5B5gF9poA/s1600/brighton.jpg" /></a></div><br />

What is it that makes me enjoy this show? I mean, I <u>do</u> actually enjoy it. Even the songs. And I like to think I have good taste in music, so what the hell is going on here?</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">I'm not gonna try and claim that what Glee do with the songs they perform is some sort of genius, but they must be doing something right. Something about that autotuned sound does grab my ear. Occasionally it sounds like they've taken it a bit too far, and by making everything so fucking <i>pitch perfect</i> they've literally sapped the song of all emotion, but more often than that I just settle into it and enjoy the music.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">I mean, I guess sometimes they aren't doing anything that hard at all. They take a big tune, get some 'high school' kids to cover it fucking <i>perfectly </i>and they've got an instant hit. But then sometimes they even manage to turn a song I hate into something I kind of enjoy. Take the Justin Beiber Experience episode. I am in no way a fan of the Beibs, but witnessing his songs being performed by characters I know I couldn't help but start to enjoy it.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />

</div><div style="text-align: left;">When I was thinking about this earlier, I was thinking that it was all down to the power of pop. And I do think it's a big part of it, although perhaps not the full story. Like it or hate it, it's pretty hard to deny that there is something about pop which differentiates it from other music (apart from it being "shit", haters). I personally, am a fan. There's just something special about pop which gives it a place in my heart.&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">I've never agreed that it's easy to make a manufactured pop star. To write great pop, you do need talent of some sort, and done right it can blow you (me) away.&nbsp;To me, pop music sets itself apart by striving to sound perfect to as many ears as possible. The chords and melody may not be groundbreaking, but damn do they do sound good, and a good producer can take the predictable and turn it into something unique.&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">With Glee, they don't even bother to do this. They take polishing to an extreme, with everything in the track sounding absolutely dead on, and it makes it incredibly hard for me to dislike it.&nbsp;Combining that with characters who I have watched for a while, and almost feel I can relate to, they've got a great recipe for success. Hit songs + that personal connection = instant win. I just can't resist that.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Maybe they're geniuses after all?</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">400+ badly written words on Glee? Damn. I swear I used to be cool.</div></description><link>http://fasteddiie.blogspot.com/2011/04/guilty-pleasures.html</link><author>noreply@blogger.com (FAST EDDIIE)</author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdoIm_biEbbWQZ5-LUo-V3Zc4CbgUPRmehAy-oBM70JX2pxZPrmpT-b0xZJ-j_CL3X-haUr-movQ2ZMk2m8ID82Rc5Otkrr9sFDdI-v3L25GRY24AUn9kUSc9tcmO9UTqag4tpHbgKUtTp/s72-c/glee.jpg" height="72" width="72"/><thr:total>0</thr:total></item><item><guid isPermaLink="false">tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7036574440188667025.post-5944964913246671117</guid><pubDate>Thu, 14 Apr 2011 08:16:00 +0000</pubDate><atom:updated>2011-04-14T09:16:25.399+01:00</atom:updated><title>ENTREPRENEURS @ THE MACBETH</title><description><iframe frameborder="0" height="675" src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/10114686" width="900"></iframe><br />
Last Friday was the launch of <a href="http://stellamortos.tumblr.com/">Stella Mortos</a>, a new record label from the man behind <a href="http://shatteredsatellite.blogspot.com/">Shattered Satellite</a>,&nbsp;(a now defunct but in it's time fantastic music blog) and to celebrate he brought Entrepreneurs, FOE, Evryone and a host of DJ's along to The Macbeth in Hoxton for a night.<br />
<br />
The venue was completely rammed by the time I arrived, and having made a wrong turn on the way I missed most of <a href="http://www.evryone.co.uk/">Evryone</a>'s set. I did manage to catch their last song, and having seen them before I thought it all sounded a little off... The keys, normally the driving force behind it all, were pretty much absent, and it all just felt a bit empty, which was a shame really. I'm still reserving judgment on these guys. They've got something but I'm not sure what exactly it is yet.<br />
<br />
After a fag it was <a href="http://soundcloud.com/foe-mania/">FOE</a>'s turn. FOE seem to be on the receiving end of a fair bit of hype at the moment, and they've just released their first E.P on Stella Mortos.<br />
<br />
<object height="225" width="100%"> <param name="movie" value="http://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Fplaylists%2F590844&amp;show_comments=true&amp;auto_play=false&amp;show_playcount=true&amp;show_artwork=true&amp;color=531ca8"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed allowscriptaccess="always" height="225" src="http://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Fplaylists%2F590844&amp;show_comments=true&amp;auto_play=false&amp;show_playcount=true&amp;show_artwork=true&amp;color=531ca8" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="100%"></embed> </object> <a href="http://soundcloud.com/foe-mania/sets/hot-new-trash-ep-1">Hot New Trash EP</a> by <a href="http://soundcloud.com/foe-mania">FOE</a><br />
<br />
I hadn't seen them before, and I definitely liked what I heard. There were a fair few handbags whacking me in the groin at the time trying to ruin it for me, but eventually I managed to get past that and I enjoyed their set. Definitely gonna be keeping an eye on what happens next with these guys, I expect to see them in the NME within about 6 months. (If, that is, they haven't been already. I don't tend to read that particular magazine).<br />
<br />
After this, the venue was literally full to bursting point. If I had a choice of venues to watch bands do their thing, I definitely wouldn't pick this one. Struggling to see an act because you're stuck behind shitloads of people who&nbsp;act like they're not that bothered by the music just isn't that fun, although I guess the sheer density of people did create an atmosphere of sorts... Seriously though, I struggle to stand still when I'm watching a band I like, but most of these guys were pretty much glued to the spot. I don't get it, dancing's FUN. At least nod your head a little, honestly it makes a big difference.<br />
<br />
Anyway, next up was <a href="http://entrepreneurs-incorporat.tumblr.com/">Entrepreneurs</a>, the real reason I came along. (Careful, that site <u>will</u> hurt your eyes). Entrepreneurs, one of many projects by Adam M Crisp, is an act I've been pining after for some time, and he definitely didn't let me down. It was loud. It was messy. It was definitely not easy-listening.<br />
<br />
It was great.<br />
<br />
Check out their most recent EP below:<br />
<br />
<object height="225" width="100%"> <param name="movie" value="http://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Fplaylists%2F613199&amp;show_comments=true&amp;auto_play=false&amp;show_playcount=true&amp;show_artwork=true&amp;color=530998"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed allowscriptaccess="always" height="225" src="http://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Fplaylists%2F613199&amp;show_comments=true&amp;auto_play=false&amp;show_playcount=true&amp;show_artwork=true&amp;color=530998" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="100%"></embed> </object> <a href="http://soundcloud.com/entrepreneurs/sets/bubblegunk-fuck-tactics">Bubblegunk / Fuck Tactics</a> by <a href="http://soundcloud.com/entrepreneurs">Entrepreneurs</a><br />
<br />
Honestly, I can't think of a single thing Mr. Crisp has done that I haven't liked, and here he is again making noise that I love. Seriously this guy has talent, and if you haven't heard his stuff I urge you to give Entrepreneurs a go.<br />
<br />
Then once you've done that,&nbsp;go check out <a href="http://soundcloud.com/thepremaritalsect">The Premarital Sect</a>, <a href="http://www.myspace.com/ellemilano">Elle Milano</a>&nbsp;and <a href="http://www.angelfire.com/alt/psirens/what.htm">Psirens</a>&nbsp;as well. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">K<span class="Apple-style-span" style="-webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: none;">anye West is seriously dominating my listening recently. Everyone else seems to kind of pale into insignificant background noise, I honestly can't stop listening.</span>&nbsp;In fact he's about to overtake Lady Gaga in total number of listens. I would never have predicted that.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="http://lastfm.dontdrinkandroot.net/">http://lastfm.dontdrinkandroot.net/</a>&nbsp;make these cool last.fm visualisers, this one showing my top artists from the last 6 months.&nbsp;Apparently the image will update automatically, so maybe Kanye won't be there for much longer?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I always thought last.fm could do more with their data. Why not show the information in other ways? Even something simple like this, but better (<i>much</i> better), would be a big improvement IMO.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">What do last.fm actually do with their data anyway? This company knows exactly what I listen to, and when. If they cant take that and use it to sell me more music then they're doing it wrong. &nbsp;Everyone's always talking about the impending death of the music business, if I were a major label I'd definitely want to have a look into what last.fm knows about who listens to what.</div></description><link>http://fasteddiie.blogspot.com/2011/03/kanye.html</link><author>noreply@blogger.com (FAST EDDIIE)</author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPNzy49MDTpmGFpxAd8LqNYv6caB4GCe9scBLrihokZOU36S5_DyRc9LUqQx2PJ16zjMk5Dcj8kKVbXN7oP1J9HrXZfPmyu7ouJ1rXErdCZW_Hb-LFG6jyUqaOPQAgo9eo4f8lDNXPRtYu/s72-c/lastgraph.jpg" height="72" width="72"/><thr:total>0</thr:total></item><item><guid isPermaLink="false">tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7036574440188667025.post-4131794936116793900</guid><pubDate>Wed, 16 Mar 2011 16:34:00 +0000</pubDate><atom:updated>2011-03-16T16:38:48.608+00:00</atom:updated><title>TRAVIS BARKER FEAT. EVERYONE</title><description>I'M BACK ON THE WEB. 2 months later, my laptop is fixed, AT LAST.<br />
<br />
Firstly I'd like to say a big fuck you to Stormfront for trying to charge me £900 for something which should have been free. Wankers.<br />
<br />
Anyway, since my last post some stuff's happened, including getting a new job. Such a relief to no longer have to work in B&amp;S, it was so shit. Finger's crossed the new career will be better. I'm pretty confident it will be!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFpf8HEBLaBM1eO4ZrkJol0YFSTMhtONuBNzH2J5T5AqW4t4bu19y5EVOYZvyyufUidHt70PhxIclu3y7TEuvURWcakSRt3pk69KTytNQYum2pWoYL9azqMWQ6Cu9ZUkKNO9_jJe4XcYXO/s1600/travis_barker_cover.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFpf8HEBLaBM1eO4ZrkJol0YFSTMhtONuBNzH2J5T5AqW4t4bu19y5EVOYZvyyufUidHt70PhxIclu3y7TEuvURWcakSRt3pk69KTytNQYum2pWoYL9azqMWQ6Cu9ZUkKNO9_jJe4XcYXO/s1600/travis_barker_cover.jpeg" /></a></div><br />
So, in other news, Travis Barker released his 'solo' album yesterday. It includes the likes of Rick Ross, &nbsp;Ludacris, Swizz Beats, The Game, Snoop, Lil Wayne, Corey Taylor, Cypress Hill, The Transplants, Busta Rhymes and more. Quite some roster.<br />
<br />
Track one, <i>Can a Drummer get some?</i>&nbsp;is a great start to the record, with a heavy riff, a nice beat from Travis, and guest slots for Weezy, Rick Ross, The Game and Swizz Beats. It sets the tone for the next hour:<br />
<br />
<object height="536" width="900"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube-nocookie.com/v/qX9g5KuEsO4?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube-nocookie.com/v/qX9g5KuEsO4?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="900" height="25"></embed></object><br />
<br />
Musically, the album is pretty broad. The majority of the album is hip-hop but by no means all, which is quite refreshing in a way. Although the rockier tracks are not so much to my tastes it's good to mix it up a bit, and honestly I think the album would have gotten a bit tiring without them.<br />
<br />
So far, I like this track, <i>Raw Shit</i>, the most:<br />
<br />
<object height="705" width="900"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube-nocookie.com/v/Yxq_Ycm-2Nc?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube-nocookie.com/v/Yxq_Ycm-2Nc?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="900" height="25"></embed></object><br />
<br />
While it's not likely to be my album of the year or anything, it IS good. A few tracks drag a little, but it's definitely worth a listen.<br />
<br />
And now, a joke about drummers:<br />
<br />
<blockquote>A drummer, sick of all the drummer jokes, decides to change his instrument. After some thought, he decides on the accordion. So he goes to the music store and says to the owner, "I'd like to look at the accordions, please."<br />
The owner gestures to a shelf in the corner and says "All our accordions are over there."<br />
After browsing, the drummer says, "I think I'd like the big red one in the corner."<br />
The store owner looks at him and says, "You're a drummer, aren't you?"<br />
The drummer, crestfallen, says, "How did you know?"<br />

<br />
I've finally changed the design of this, and even if it's not perfect it's pretty much what I want. I wanted to make everything wider and in particular have a drop down menu linking to my previous blog posts, but it took me an awful long time to figure out. I could find instructions on making drop down lists, and obviously most people have an archive on their blog, but I could find nothing about combining the two. Has nobody tried to do this on blogger before? <br />
<br />
Surely not. Anyway I couldn't find any instructions on the web so I'm going to write some myself. Maybe someone else would find it useful one day? It's far from perfect but for someone like me with not alot of knowledge of this sort of thing it does the job.<br />
<br />
Basically I used CSS to tell blogger to show a list of posts when the mouse is over an image (the ARCHIVE button above.) Click on Design, then 'Add a Gadget', and choose the HTML/Javascript option. Call it what you like and paste this into the content section:<br />
<br />
<blockquote>&lt;div class="menu" id="menu"&gt;</blockquote><blockquote>&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&lt;div class="eddiearchive"&gt;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;</blockquote><blockquote>&lt;img src="<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #ea9999;">https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkbTCZgfWzE9Yuaoa8v1y0FoS3elSO5g_WtL8Vj1MfS4B6fO5GJ6lDZYUdBVJEn-bQ6OCjcvh6dWj_KLqhpGXFWcBWj_MOs_NXgBQbWBX1BqfvPf3r9xC0ERqr_J37Y5QtemOx_kKilqE/s800/ARCHIVEBUTTONw.jpg</span>" /&gt;</blockquote><blockquote>&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&lt;div class="eddiepopup"&gt;</blockquote><blockquote>&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f9cb9c;">&lt;script language="JavaScript" src="http://itde.vccs.edu/rss2js/feed2js.php?src=http%3A%2F%2Ffasteddiie.blogspot.com%2Ffeeds%2Fposts%2Fdefault%3Falt%3Drss&amp;chan=n&amp;num=10&amp;desc=0&amp;date=n&amp;targ=n" type="text/javascript"&gt;&lt;/script&gt;</span>&nbsp;&nbsp;</blockquote><blockquote><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f9cb9c;">&lt;noscript&gt;</span></blockquote><blockquote><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f9cb9c;">&lt;a href="http://itde.vccs.edu/rss2js/feed2js.php?src=http%3A%2F%2Ffasteddiie.blogspot.com%2Ffeeds%2Fposts%2Fdefault%3Falt%3Drss&amp;chan=n&amp;num=10&amp;desc=0&amp;date=n&amp;targ=n&amp;html=y"&gt;View RSS feed&lt;/a&gt;</span></blockquote><blockquote><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f9cb9c;">&lt;/noscript&gt;</span></blockquote><blockquote>&lt;ul&gt;</blockquote><blockquote>&lt;li&gt;</blockquote><blockquote>&lt;a href="<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #8e7cc3;">http://fasteddiie.blogspot.com/</span>search?updated-min=2000-01-01T00:00:00Z&amp;updated-max=2099-01-01T00:00:00Z&amp;max-results=999"&gt;&lt;b&gt;ALL POSTS&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/a&gt;</blockquote><blockquote>&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</blockquote><blockquote>&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&lt;/div&gt;</blockquote><blockquote>&lt;/div&gt;</blockquote><br />
Then just replace each coloured section of text with your own. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #ea9999;">red section </span>is where your archive button is located. I just uploaded mine to Picasa as it's what blogger normally uses.<br />
<br />
For the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f9cb9c;">orange section</span>, go <a href="http://itde.vccs.edu/rss2js/build.php">here</a> and put "http://YOURBLOGNAME.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?alt=rss" into the URL field. I left everything else at it's default and set it to display 10 posts. Click generate javascript to get the code for it on the next screen.<br />
<br />
The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #b4a7d6;">purple section </span>is simply your blog's address.<br />
<br />
Then I used CSS to tell blogger to show the list of posts when the mouse is over the 'ARCHIVE' image. For this click design, then Template Designer, Advanced, Add Css. Paste this in:<br />
<br />
<br />
<blockquote>div.eddiearchive div.eddiepopup {<br />
&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;display: none;<br />
&nbsp;}<br />
<br />
&nbsp;div.eddiearchive:hover div.eddiepopup {<br />
&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;position: absolute;<br />
&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;display: block;<br />
&nbsp;}<br />
.tabs .widget li, .tabs .widget li {<br />
float: none;<br />
}<br />
.content-outer, .header-outer, .main-outer, .main-inner, .footer-outer, .post, .comments, .widget, .date-header, .inline-ad {<br />
z-index: 1;<br />
}<br />
.tabs-outer {<br />
z-index: 2;<br />
}</blockquote><br />
Click apply and you're done!<br />
<br />
{{{PS. Since I wrote this I've changed it again, and it's now slightly more sophisticated. Not much, but this doesn't match what I've done above!}}}</description><link>http://fasteddiie.blogspot.com/2011/01/drop-down-archive.html</link><author>noreply@blogger.com (FAST EDDIIE)</author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="http://i380.photobucket.com/albums/oo242/katiegrace47/Heroes/th_Hiro_yatta_saved_the_world.jpg" height="72" width="72"/><thr:total>0</thr:total></item><item><guid isPermaLink="false">tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7036574440188667025.post-1215550628927111079</guid><pubDate>Tue, 28 Dec 2010 15:55:00 +0000</pubDate><atom:updated>2011-01-04T01:20:01.229+00:00</atom:updated><title>NOOOOODLE</title><description><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7Dk_KOsGmqlhR9_jSLh2mpRrmt86i0_4_JHbXqRgtmgMmf8YtF64it2WwkYJ6k4X6FpUqGJflYbnJ7wJqCJKFUp6hMaddNowxp6o2SWoHTikWNQ6sIgAzJdP9Dqqmjedc2pL1o33hlU84/s1600/nood1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7Dk_KOsGmqlhR9_jSLh2mpRrmt86i0_4_JHbXqRgtmgMmf8YtF64it2WwkYJ6k4X6FpUqGJflYbnJ7wJqCJKFUp6hMaddNowxp6o2SWoHTikWNQ6sIgAzJdP9Dqqmjedc2pL1o33hlU84/s1600/nood1.jpg" /></a></div><br />

Kanye's back with a new album, and it's good. Seriously good. Nobody likes the man, but everyone loves the music, and this record has been getting rave reviews from everyone (just&nbsp;<a href="http://www.metacritic.com/music/my-beautiful-dark-twisted-fantasy/critic-reviews">look here</a>).<br />
<br />
It's a bit annoying, because he claims to be the best, acts like a dick, but then drops something like this. Maybe he was right all along, and does deserve all the hype. Anyway it doesn't matter, the fact is the album's GREAT. It reaches a real climax with this track, featuring Bon Iver:<br />
<br />
<object height="700" width="900"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube-nocookie.com/v/qhQaVZcnj9I?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0&amp;color1=0x402061&amp;color2=0x9461ca"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube-nocookie.com/v/qhQaVZcnj9I?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0&amp;color1=0x402061&amp;color2=0x9461ca" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="900" height="25"></embed></object><br />
<br />
I feel bad that I didn't pay for this album, maybe I'll shell out. He doesn't exactly need the dough, but I feel I should show my appreciation. Especially as West gradually released tracks from it for free prior to release.<br />
