That was a lot of learning about weather and stuff but not a lot of flying. Along with my coworker we created some <a href="https://www.losmedanos.edu/tours/">assets for the college</a> but I haven’t had a chance to do anything commercial with it until now.</p> <p>This advertisement is the brain child of our marketing team and we had a fun time creating the story board for this 30 second commercial. The commercial will be played during the 2023 Women’s World Cup on the Spanish language station, Telemundo48, a television broadcasting company owned by NBC Universal.</p> <p>These are our own soccer players along with our own staff as actors in the crowd. It was fun to see the film production crew come shoot and assemble this video. They didn’t have a drone person to shoot the spot that comes in at the 15 second mark which is where I come in. Another drone pilot shot a clip of my drone and then the footage switches to a fly-in from my drone. Don’t blink though – you might miss it! </p> <p>In addition to the drone footage there is some static slides that come in with with some photos of our campus and student life. Some of those photos are mine as well. I just used the photoshop quick selection tool to prepare the image and then used the two websites above to complete the rest. Neither one of these links are affiliate links. I don’t know if this is the best choice or not but it’s what I got. </p> <p>For the dragonfly above I just positioned the iphone on the back looking through the circle to give the subject a nice even bright soft light. Cheap and easy to do! </p> <figure class="wp-block-image"></figure> <p>When I got the lens kit I played around with textures to see how sharp I could get it. From what I can tell the sharpness is not edge to edge but where it is sharp it has good clarity. I could certainly use some of these images in the background of designs or perhaps as a texture in a 3D art project or something. So when I saw the course they had as an opportunity to learn what other features they have I jumped at it.</p> <p>Let me show a little bit of how I’ve used it to demonstrate the possibilities.</p> <p>My first project I used it for was a way to dress up a PDF map of our college. I could highlight different areas of the map to say a little bit about what to expect in each building and in some cases take a virtual tour of the facility.</p> <figure class="wp-block-image"></figure> <p>The next application was to create a poster presentation for a data coach program I was involved in. I had the typical abstract/summary, then conclusions and results from a marketing survey I ran. With ThingLink I was able to make it interactive so I should expand various sections to show a deeper dive into the results.</p> <iframe width="960" height="507" data-original-width="2404" data-original-height="1270" src="https://www.thinglink.com/card/1440880689636442115" type="text/html" frameborder="0" webkitallowfullscreen="" mozallowfullscreen="" allowfullscreen="" scrolling="no"></iframe><script async="" src="//cdn.thinglink.me/jse/responsive.js"></script> <p>Then I used Thinglink to teach a visual concept of the process of web design thinking that I call the 5 D’s of web design. Using a graphic created in Canva I used the linkup feature and then created a information graphic as to what is involved in each step of the process.</p> <iframe width="960" height="540" data-original-width="1920" data-original-height="1080" src="https://www.thinglink.com/card/1607209917842718721" type="text/html" frameborder="0" webkitallowfullscreen="" mozallowfullscreen="" allowfullscreen="" scrolling="no"></iframe><script async="" src="//cdn.thinglink.me/jse/responsive.js"></script> <p>I also utilized a new function of Thinklink for creating a quick survey. This allowed me to start off a zoom presentation and ask a quick two question gauge of my audience.</p> <iframe width="960" height="384" data-original-width="1000" data-original-height="400" src="https://www.thinglink.com/card/1594117126375866371" type="text/html" frameborder="0" webkitallowfullscreen="" mozallowfullscreen="" allowfullscreen="" scrolling="no"></iframe><script async="" src="//cdn.thinglink.me/jse/responsive.js"></script> <p>Lasty, in the same session I used Thinglink o create a powerpoint style presentation but with greater visual interactivity with animation and embedded google slides from another presentation. The trick is you must design with accessibility in mind because it’s not going magically create it if you don’t have the end user in mind.</p> <p>It’s not a free program but it has some very specific uses in the future of the whole metaverse concept of a virtual immersive world.
