KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee will play in its 52nd bowl game on Dec. 30, when the Vols take on No. 24/21 Nebraska in the 2016 Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.
The ESPN broadcast will feature Tom Hart and Andre Ware in the booth and Cole Cubelic reporting from the sidelines. Fans can also listen live on their local Vol Network affiliate with Bob Kesling, Tim Priest and Brent Hubbs in the booth and John Brice on the sidelines. ESPN Radio will also carry the game with a broadcast featuring Anish Shroff, Ahmad Brooks and Dawn Davenport.

Tennessee (8-4) and Nebraska (9-3) have played each other just twice in the combined 247 seasons of football history between the schools. The Cornhuskers defeated the Vols, 42-17, in the Orange Bowl on Jan. 2, 1998. Nebraska also took a 31-21 win over UT on Jan. 2, 2000, in the Fiesta Bowl. Tennessee faces a Big Ten opponent in postseason play for the third-straight year as the Vols defeated Iowa two years ago in the TaxSlayer Bowl and Northwestern last season in the Outback Bowl.
At 8-4, the Vol shave posted their third-straight winning season under head coach <a href="http://universityoftennesseeathletics.cmail19.com/t/d-l-duskul-wavuuk-v/" target="_blank" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?hl=en&q=http://universityoftennesseeathletics.cmail19.com/t/d-l-duskul-wavuuk-v/&source=gmail&ust=1482403589138000&usg=AFQjCNHejikWp8Z6w1QSdsM8C3LbkI0_gg" rel="noopener">Butch Jones</a>. Tennessee has averaged 36.2 points for the season and the Vols have seen their scoring output expand to 50.2 points per game over the last four games. Senior quarterback <a href="http://universityoftennesseeathletics.cmail19.com/t/d-l-duskul-wavuuk-e/" target="_blank" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?hl=en&q=http://universityoftennesseeathletics.cmail19.com/t/d-l-duskul-wavuuk-e/&source=gmail&ust=1482403589138000&usg=AFQjCNFpgbmUWzn-PhKSLTvPqxdpKFJqSQ" rel="noopener">Joshua Dobbs</a> leads the SEC in touchdown passes (26), passer efficiency (152.6) and points responsible for (216). Junior defensive end <a href="http://universityoftennesseeathletics.cmail19.com/t/d-l-duskul-wavuuk-s/" target="_blank" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?hl=en&q=http://universityoftennesseeathletics.cmail19.com/t/d-l-duskul-wavuuk-s/&source=gmail&ust=1482403589139000&usg=AFQjCNEPKyZ2OlOgjOUQN9tTEz6wau6Tyw" rel="noopener">Derek Barnett</a> leads the SEC and is tied for sixth in the nation with 12.0 sacks and his 18.0 tackles for loss lead the league and rank 15th nationally. Barnett’s 32.0 career sacks also rank second nationally and he is tied with the late great Reggie White for the most sacks in UT history.
Nebraska, which is No. 21 in the latest Amway Coaches Poll and No. 24 in the latest AP Top 25 Poll, is 9-3 and finished the regular season with the fifth-best overall record in the Big Ten. The Cornhuskers have averaged 26.8 points per game and feature an outstanding offensive line that has allowed just 11 sacks on the year, which is the fewest in the Big Ten and ties for the sixth-fewest in the nation. Senior quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr. has passed for 2,180 yards with 14 touchdowns and eight interceptions and has run for 512 yards and eight scores. On defense, Nebraska ranks second in the Big Ten and 12th nationally in interceptions with 16.
This year’s game against Nebraska will mark Tennessee’s second appearance in the Music City Bowl. The Vols previously played in the bowl in 2010, falling to North Carolina, 30-27, in double overtime.
Established in 1998, the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl has transformed the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day into one of the city’s busiest times of the year for tourism. Since its inception, the Bowl has produced over $268 million in direct economic impact to Nashville.

The Vols are making their 52nd bowl appearance all-time and tied with Georgia for the fourth-most among all FBS programs. Tennessee owns a 27-24 all-time record in bowl games and has won two in a row.
With a win, the Vols would claim three straight bowl victories for the first time since the 1994-96 seasons.
Nebraska is making its 53rd bowl appearance all-time. The Cornhuskers are tied with Texas for the second-most bowl game appearances and trail only Alabama (63).
Over his last four games, Dobbs has completed 69-of-86 passes (86 percent) for 969 yards with 11 touchdowns and one interception. He is 22-12 as UT’s starting quarterback. With a win, Dobbs, who earned Second Team All-SEC accolades from both the coaches and the AP, would tie <a href="http://universityoftennesseeathletics.cmail19.com/t/d-l-duskul-wavuuk-g/" target="_blank" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?hl=en&q=http://universityoftennesseeathletics.cmail19.com/t/d-l-duskul-wavuuk-g/&source=gmail&ust=1482403589139000&usg=AFQjCNEUNZzArG43PrsRu7oM13r4dShxeA" rel="noopener">Condredge Holloway</a> (1972-74) for the fifth-most wins by a UT quarterback.
Barnett earned consensus All-America honors with All-America recognition from the Walter Camp Football Foundation, the Associated Press, Sporting News, the Football Writers Association of America and the American Football Coaches Association. He was also named a First Team All-SEC selection by the coaches and the AP. Barnett, who has 12.0 sacks on the year, is the only player in SEC football history to record three seasons with 10 or more sacks.
<h2>Tennessee vs. The Big Ten</h2>
Tennessee’s last game against a Big Ten team was its 45-6 win over Northwestern in last year’s Outback Bowl.
Several of UT’s games against current Big Ten teams have been in bowl games. The Vols are 11-10 against current members of the league in bowl games.
<h2>Tennessee’s Bowl History</h2>
Tennessee is 27-24 all-time in bowls and the Vols’ 27 bowl wins are tied with Texas for the sixth-most in NCAA history.
<h2>Malone Taking Flight</h2>
Junior wideout <a href="http://universityoftennesseeathletics.cmail19.com/t/d-l-duskul-wavuuk-w/" target="_blank" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?hl=en&q=http://universityoftennesseeathletics.cmail19.com/t/d-l-duskul-wavuuk-w/&source=gmail&ust=1482403589139000&usg=AFQjCNH-y5rheirtut7uw2AT6hC_kpN0OA" rel="noopener">Josh Malone</a> has caught a touchdown pass in each of the last four games, including a 27-yard score in the regular season finale vs. Vanderbilt (Nov. 26). It his second streak of four-straight games with a touchdown pass this season and he has amassed five total touchdowns in that span.
Malone has a career-high 10 receiving touchdowns this season, tied for the fifth-most in a season in school history and is the most by a Vol since <a href="http://universityoftennesseeathletics.cmail19.com/t/d-l-duskul-wavuuk-yd/" target="_blank" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?hl=en&q=http://universityoftennesseeathletics.cmail19.com/t/d-l-duskul-wavuuk-yd/&source=gmail&ust=1482403589139000&usg=AFQjCNFfYU1KdSreNVJAr0U57K1LwKEXIA" rel="noopener">Robert Meachem’s</a> 11 in 2006.
<h2>Dobbs Moving Up The Charts</h2>
Statistically, Dobbs has put together his finest season in 2016. Dobbs put together one of his best-ever performances throwing the football at Vanderbilt, going 31-of-34 for 340 yards and two touchdowns. He opened the game by completing his first 11 passes, including one touchdown strike.
Dobbs has thrown for a touchdown in all but one game this season and has thrown for multiple scores in four straight.
Dobbs has accounted for 12 total touchdowns over the last three games of the regular season (eight passing, four rushing) and now stands alone in second place on UT’s career list for touchdowns accounted for. Dobbs has accounted for 83 TDs and trails only the great <a href="http://universityoftennesseeathletics.cmail19.com/t/d-l-duskul-wavuuk-yh/" target="_blank" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?hl=en&q=http://universityoftennesseeathletics.cmail19.com/t/d-l-duskul-wavuuk-yh/&source=gmail&ust=1482403589139000&usg=AFQjCNF0htxSJ3khdR_OA_d6d-jFG0dCVg" rel="noopener">Peyton Manning</a> (101).
This season, Dobbs has accounted for 36 of Tennessee’s 58 offensive touchdowns (26 passing, nine rushing, one receiving).
Dobbs has thrown for a career-best and SEC-leading 26 touchdowns this season.
He is responsible for 216 Tennessee points this season (26 passing TDs, 9 rushing, 1 receiving). That figure also leads the SEC and ranks 12th in FBS.
Dobbs needs just one rushing touchdown to become only the third QB in SEC history with 15 passing and 10 rushing touchdowns in multiple seasons. He had 15 passing touchdowns and 11 rushing last season. He would join Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow and two-time first team All-SEC selection Dak Prescott as the only quarterbacks to accomplish the feat.
<h2>Senior Bowl</h2>
Dobbs and senior defensive back <a href="http://universityoftennesseeathletics.cmail19.com/t/d-l-duskul-wavuuk-yk/" target="_blank" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?hl=en&q=http://universityoftennesseeathletics.cmail19.com/t/d-l-duskul-wavuuk-yk/&source=gmail&ust=1482403589139000&usg=AFQjCNGLAT1hjU2YrTbH1tSaTSSCfjB4-A" rel="noopener">Cameron Sutton</a> have accepted their invitations to the 2017 Reese’s Senior Bowl.
The 68th Annual Reese’s Senior Bowl is set for Jan. 28, 2017 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Alabama. Players will report on Jan. 23 for the week of practices. The practices will be televised live on ESPN2 and NFL Network while the game is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. ET kickoff on NFL Network.

The Vols are ranked No. 21 in the latest College Football Playoff Rankings. The Cornhuskers are No. 21 in the latest Amway Coaches Poll and No. 24 in the latest AP Top 25 Poll.
Jones and the players spoke about the Music City Bowl and also about the recent wildfires that have impacted Gatlinburg and other parts of Sevier County.
 
<h2>Butch Jones | Head Coach</h2>
“First and foremost, our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in Gatlinburg and we are looking into doing some different things as a football team in moving forward. The way this state, this community, has embraced them is truly remarkable. From my perspective and our football family, our thoughts and prayers are with everyone associated with that tragedy.
“I would personally like to thank Scott Ramsay from the Music City Bowl. I know our players our looking forward to playing in-state with a very, very good opponent. When you look at Nebraska just from the outside, obviously, they sit at 9-3. Two of their losses have come to two top-10 football programs. They started the season off 7-0. Two historical teams, two historical programs that are going to come together; so we are excited about that with a quality opponent and it’s going to be a great challenge in moving forward.
“Currently with our football program is our players getting ready to go through final exams. Our staff and myself are in the middle of recruiting. Actually got back in around 4 a.m. this morning, and we’ll head right out after this press conference entering into the beginning stages of bowl preparation. We did practice yesterday. I thought it was a very spirited, competitive practice. These practices are going to be critical for the development of our younger players but also for our seniors. It’s very important these individuals finish their career the right way.
“Our time as a football, and Team 120, is very limited but there’s a lot of things we have to get accomplished throughout the course of bowl preparation which will really heat up after this week, heading into the stages of early next week. That’s when we will really start our bowl preparation.
“I know there’s been a lot of questions in terms of the program. I’ll tell you this. I will thoroughly examine everything in our football program in moving forward. Every amount of time I’m not recruiting, not in a home, not in a high school, I am examining that and will continue to do that. That’s a process. You have to take the emotion out, you have to look at where you’re at, you have to look at how far you’ve come, and then you have to look at your deficiencies as a football team and a football program in being nine-strong from positioned groups and everything associated with that. I’ll continue to address our football program over the next few weeks and upcoming months as well.”
 
<h2>#4 LaTroy Lewis | RS Senior Defensive Lineman</h2>
Lewis said that the younger players on the team will have an opportunity to continue to improve with this month’s bowl practices. Lewis is part of a UT senior class that has led the Vols to three-straight bowl appearances. Tennessee last played in three-consecutive bowls following the 2002, 2003 and 2004 seasons. Lewis spoke about the importance of finishing the season with a win.
“It’s important, it’s definitely important. We’re still focused on Team 120, but moving forward that’s huge momentum for Team 121 and the great things I think they’re going to accomplish. It’s definitely setting a standard. It’s the last three years in a bowl game and I don’t think that’s something to take lightly and not feel accomplished about. We’re proud about that, especially our senior class, talking about the legacy we’ve been able to bring and leave and excited about the things to come.”
 
<h2>#11 Joshua Dobbs | Senior Quarterback</h2>
Last week, Dobbs, some of his teammates and UT dancers and cheerleaders visited with the people of Gatlinburg who have been affected by the wildfires. The senior quarterback has used his platform to inspire and help others and he and his friends jumped at the opportunity to give back to the community. Dobbs and his fellow seniors will suit up one more time for the Big Orange in the Music City Bowl, capping an impressive four-year stretch in which they helped return Tennessee to national prominence.
“Before the season everyone has their expectations and goals. Everyone wants to win the championship. There is no sense in shying away from that. The key to that is you have to focus on each game and you can’t look at the big picture. You have to focus on the small details. Each practice, each game and taking advantage of those opportunities add up in the end. As for moving forward, that’s what this team needs to continue to do. We have had a lot of growth over these last four years. It has been really cool to continue to grow and to continue to take steps in the right direction to get Tennessee football where it should be. That’s the goal. Every time you step on the field you have to play your best because you’re going to get the other team’s best shot. You can’t take any opportunities for granted.”

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The University of Tennessee football team has accepted an invitation to play the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl on Dec. 30 at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tenn.

UT took a 45-28 win over Iowa in the TaxSlayer Bowl on Jan. 2, 2015. The Vols capped their 2015 campaign with a 45-6 victory over Northwestern in the Outback Bowl on Jan. 1, 2016. UT is playing in its third-straight bowl game for the first time since UT played in three bowls from 2002 to 2004. Tennessee is looking to win bowl games in three-consecutive seasons for the first time since winning postseason bowls following the 1994, 1995 and 1996 seasons.

The Vols are 8-4, marking their third-straight winning season. Tennessee has averaged 36.2 points for the season and the Vols have seen their scoring output expand to 50.2 points per game over the last four games. Junior defensive end <a href="http://universityoftennesseeathletics.cmail19.com/t/d-l-dhlhtyl-wavuuk-c/" target="_blank" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?hl=en&q=http://universityoftennesseeathletics.cmail19.com/t/d-l-dhlhtyl-wavuuk-c/&source=gmail&ust=1481070757870000&usg=AFQjCNH0-SY80I3p2iRoZYFFWQTY7HqWIw" rel="noopener">Derek Barnett</a> leads the SEC and is tied for sixth in the nation with 12.0 sacks and his 18.0 tackles for loss lead the league and rank 15th nationally. Barnett’s 32.0 career sacks also rank second nationally and he is tied with the late great Reggie White for the most sacks in UT history.
Tennessee and Nebraska have played each other just twice in the combined 247 seasons of football history between the schools. The Cornhuskers defeated the Vols, 42-17, in the Orange Bowl on Jan. 2, 1998. Nebraska also took a 31-21 win over UT on Jan. 2, 1999, in the Fiesta Bowl. Tennessee faces a Big Ten opponent in postseason play for the third-straight year as the Vols defeated Iowa two years ago in the TaxSlayer Bowl and Northwestern last season in the Outback Bowl.
Nebraska, which is No. 21 in the latest Amway Coaches Poll and No. 24 in the latest AP Top 25 Poll, is 9-3 and finished the regular season with the fifth-best overall record in the Big Ten. The Cornhuskers have averaged 26.8 points per game and feature an outstanding offensive line that has allowed just 11 sacks on the year, which is the fewest in the Big Ten and ties for the sixth-fewest in the nation. Senior quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr. has passed for 2,180 yards with 14 touchdowns and eight interceptions and has run for 512 yards and eight scores. On defense, Nebraska ranks second in the Big Ten and 12th nationally in interceptions with 16.
This year’s game against Nebraska will mark Tennessee’s second appearance in the Music City Bowl. The Vols previously played in the bowl in 2010, falling to North Carolina, 30-27, in double overtime.
Established in 1998, the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl has transformed the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day into one of the city’s busiest times of the year for tourism. Since its inception, the Bowl has produced over $268 million in direct economic impact to Nashville.

Saturday’s game will have a SEC Network broadcast with Tom Hart (play-by-play) and Andre Ware (analyst) in the booth and Cole Cubelic reporting from the sidelines. Tennessee (8-3, 4-3 SEC) is 4-0 when on the SEC Network or SEC Network alternate this season. Hart, Ware and Cubelic were on the broadcast for UT’s wins over Ohio (Sept. 17) and Kentucky (Nov. 12).
Fans can also listen live on their local Vol Network affiliate with Bob Kesling, Tim Priest and Brent Hubbs in the booth and John Brice on the sidelines.

Tennessee and Vanderbilt (5-6, 1-6 SEC) will square off for the 110th time on Saturday. The Vols hold a 75-29-5 edge in the all-time series and have won the last two meetings. In 2015, Tennessee took a 53-28 win over the Commodores at Neyland Stadium.
The Vols are coming off of a 63-37 win over Missouri in which quarterback <a href="http://universityoftennesseeathletics.cmail20.com/t/d-l-dikhat-wavuuk-c/" target="_blank" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?hl=en&q=http://universityoftennesseeathletics.cmail20.com/t/d-l-dikhat-wavuuk-c/&source=gmail&ust=1479923351029000&usg=AFQjCNEELbb07Cc0P0W90sp2gFABieh84g" rel="noopener">Joshua Dobbs</a> accounted for five touchdowns (three passing, two rushing) and ran for a career-high 190 yards. Vanderbilt is fresh off of a 38-17 victory over Ole Miss.
<h2>TENNESSEE-VANDERBILT</h2>
·  Saturday’s contest is the 110th meeting between the programs in a series that dates to 1892. Tennessee is seeking its third straight win in the series and its 15th win over the Commodores in its last 16 trips to the capital city.
·  The Vols have won 30 of the last 33 games in the series.
·  UT is 37-18-4 against Vanderbilt when the game is played in Nashville.
<h2>OFFENSE CLICKING</h2>
·  During its current three-game winning streak, the Tennessee offense has come to life. The Vols are averaging 55.7 points, 559.7 yards of total offense and 313.0 rushing yards per contest during that span.
·  Tennessee’s 167 points are the most it has scored in consecutive games since 1915 when it scored 181 points over two ballgames.
·  Over its last three games, Tennessee has averaged 9.4 yards per offensive play (1,679 yards of total offense on 178 offensive plays).
·  Most recently against Missouri (Nov. 19), the Vols racked up 609 yards of total offense on just 67 offensive plays, including 386 rushing yards on 45 attempts (8.6 yards per carry).
·  Against Kentucky (Nov. 12), the Vols finished with 599 yards of total offense on 59 plays. UT’s 10.2 yards per play in that game were its most since 2009 when it set the school record with 10.9 yards per play (also against Kentucky).
·  After scoring just 23.0 points per game in its three October losses, Tennessee’s offense has averaged 55.7 points per game through three wins in November.
·  Tennessee has scored 40 or more points in three straight games for the first time since 1995.
·  The Vols have scored 49 or more points in at least three games in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 1995-96.
·  The 63 points scored vs. Missouri were most against an SEC opponent since 2000 (vs. Arkansas, 63-20).
·  UT is averaging 559.7 yards of total offense over its last three games with 21 offensive touchdowns (12 rushing, 9 passing).
·  The Vols are also averaging 381 rushing yards over their last two games with 9 rushing touchdowns. Tennessee posted a season-high 386 yards on the ground vs. Missouri last week.
·  Of Tennessee’s 21 offensive touchdowns scored over the last three games, 12 have come in drives consisting five plays or fewer, 10 have been scored in drives lasting two minutes or fewer and seven were scored in less than a minute.
<h2>RED ZONE EFFICIENCY</h2>
·  Tennessee ranks 10th in the country and 2nd in SEC in red zone offense, scoring at a 92.5 percent clip (37-of-40) when moving the ball inside the opponent’s 20 yard line.
·  Of the Vols’ 37 red-zone scores, 31 have been touchdowns (13 pass, 18 rush).
·  Tennessee’s Sept. 24 victory over Florida is the only game this season in which the Vols failed to score in the red zone. UT went 3-of-6 in the red zone against UF, but have scored at a 100 percent rate in the red zone across its other 10 games.
·  Over its last three games, Tennessee is 10-for-10 in the red zone. UT has had to settle for a field goal only one time during those 10 trips, scoring nine touchdowns during that span.

·  Having missed the previous two games with an injury, redshirt junior tailback looked sharp in his return to the field last week against Kentucky.
·  Kamara rushed 10 times for 128 yards and two scores. It was the fourth 100-yard game and the fifth multi-touchdown game of his career.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Tennessee senior quarterback <a href="http://universityoftennesseeathletics.cmail20.com/t/d-l-diddiit-wavuuk-t/" target="_blank" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?hl=en&q=http://universityoftennesseeathletics.cmail20.com/t/d-l-diddiit-wavuuk-t/&source=gmail&ust=1479766336784000&usg=AFQjCNH8xaSHK7jamXXNyG51WoABclWYyQ" rel="noopener">Joshua Dobbs</a> has been named the Walter Camp National FBS Offensive Player of the Week, presented by Generation UCAN, as announced on Sunday by the Walter Camp Foundation.
Dobbs earns the honors for the games ending Nov. 19. This week’s award marks the second time Dobbs has been named Walter Camp Offensive Player of the Week as he previously earned the award on Oct. 11, 2015. He is the fifth Tennessee honoree since 2004.
Dobbs accounted for five touchdowns (three passing, two rushing), completed 15 of 22 passes for 223 yards and ran for a career-high 190 yards on 10 carries to lead No. 19 Tennessee to a 63-37 Senior Day win over Missouri on Saturday.

Dobbs passed for 223 yards and three touchdowns on Senior Day. He rushed for two more scores — including a career-long 70-yard breakaway touchdown gallop down the Missouri sideline — to finish with a career-best 413 total yards.
The Vols (8-3, 4-3 SEC) took the lead over Missouri (3-8, 1-6) midway through the first quarter, and while the Tigers’ kept pace with Tennessee’s scoring through three quarters, the Vols never trailed the rest of the way.
Tennessee forced four turnovers and did not commit any themselves. Two Tennessee interceptions resulted in 14 points for the Vols, including an 59-yard interception return by <a href="http://universityoftennesseeathletics.cmail20.com/t/d-l-didtyud-wavuuk-c/" target="_blank" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?hl=en&q=http://universityoftennesseeathletics.cmail20.com/t/d-l-didtyud-wavuuk-c/&source=gmail&ust=1479699691338000&usg=AFQjCNGVJzB_FZ588VU2vlGmSP2MyZFNDA" rel="noopener">Jonathan Kongbo</a>.

Tennessee broke away in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Tigers 28-10. It marked the most points the Vols had scored in a quarter this season and the first time the Vols had passed the 60-point marker in a game since a 63-7 win over Western Kentucky in 2009.
The Vols amassed 609 total yards, 223 passing and 386 in the air, averaging 9.1 yards per play.

Missouri finished the game with 740 total yards, the most yards the Vols have given up in a game in program history.

Dobbs gave the Vols a 14-10 lead with 1:30 left in the first quarter when he punched in a one-yard touchdown. The score marked the 26th rushing touchdown of his career, making him Tennessee’s all-time leader in rushing touchdowns by a quarterback. With a 45-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, Dobbs now has 27 career rushing touchdowns, including seven in 2016.
With 370 total yards (223 passing, 147 rushing) against Kentucky, Dobbs now has 8,145 yards of total offense (passing, rushing, receiving) in his career. The Tennessee offense averaged 10.2 yards per play against the Wildcats, which was the Vols’ best mark since averaging a school-record 10.9 yards per play against Kentucky in 2000. The Vols also averaged 9.2 yards per rush, marking their best rushing average since 9.5 yards per carry against Auburn on Dec. 4, 2004.
Tennessee will celebrate Senior Day on Nov. 19 when the Vols take on Missouri at 3:30 p.m. ET. The game will be televised on CBS.

The Vols (7-3, 3-3 SEC) are receiving votes in the latest AP Top 25 and Coaches Poll and are No. 19 in the latest College Football Playoff Rankings. Tennessee will play Missouri (3-7, 1-5 SEC) on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. The game will feature a live broadcast on CBS, featuring the crew of Verne Lundquist, Gary Danielson and Allie LaForce.

On Saturday, the seniors will play their final game at Neyland Stadium. Jones spoke about what this year’s seniors have meant to the Tennessee football program.
“Resolve, resiliency, been through a lot, very high-character individuals, college graduates. You look at what they’ve been able to do and accomplish and so much of it is leaving with rings. These individuals right now have a couple of bowl championships. Those things are very very important, the experiences that they’ve had. They’ve made a lasting impact on Tennessee football. We always talk about, ‘Is Tennessee football better because you are part of it? How have you impacted the football program?’ All of these individuals have impacted the football program in a very very positive manner. You just look at a <a href="http://universityoftennesseeathletics.cmail19.com/t/d-l-diykuyl-wavuuk-m/" target="_blank" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?hl=en&q=http://universityoftennesseeathletics.cmail19.com/t/d-l-diykuyl-wavuuk-m/&source=gmail&ust=1479438942290000&usg=AFQjCNFH9G8NkS6N7jNQMzWpXaqnrqx-ag" rel="noopener">Cameron Sutton</a> and everything he has brought to the table. He is going to be a college graduate and with the devastating injury, he has worked and willed himself back into playing now. I said, ‘If we can find our quarterback for the future…’ – this was four years ago – ‘then this was a class that we did well in.’ I just felt that we needed to find the future and the consistency at quarterback and if we could find a couple of impactful players that could impact our program, not only on the field but off the field, then it would be a successful recruiting class. We were able to do that. I’m proud of them for staying. We talked about leaving a legacy and they will definitely leave a legacy when their time ends.”
 
<h2>#90 Charles Folger | RS Senior Defensive Lineman</h2>
As a redshirt senior and former walk-on, Folger has experienced a lot over the last five years. Folger earned a scholarship this past August and has already earned a bachelor’s degree in special education. He spoke about the lasting relationships he has formed over the years and how he has enjoyed being one of the elder statesmen among UT’s walk-ons. Folger admitted that he will likely be emotional running through the “T” one final time.
“My dad won’t like this but I’m going to cry like a baby. It’s going to be so emotional seeing my family; my mom, my dad, my brother, my sister down on the field. The five of us being together one last time before we all get going. Come on, asking me questions like that I’m going to get emotional up here. It’s been five years. It’s been the best thing ever. It’s going to be emotional for the last Vol Walk. I think it was my first or second year, there’s a picture that’s still the background on my phone of my hugging my mom at the Vol Walk. She just came of ankle surgery, I think it was my redshirt year, and it was the best thing ever. It’s one of the best pictures I think I’ve ever taken. It’s going to be emotional especially looking back. I got emotional last night watching film from the past four or five years, especially watching my film, watching my guys. Anything from Circle of Life to making tackles against Tennessee Tech. It’s going to be a whirlwind to be honest.”

Like Folger, Bynum has already earned his bachelor’s degree in Recreation and Sport Management. For UT’s SAM linebacker and punter protector, there was never any doubt that he would return for his fifth season on Rocky Top.
“I am an education first kind of guy. I am in graduate school in the Sports Management Department. I didn’t want to leave. I wanted my masters. I work hard and as far as taking hits, I play probably the worst position on the team which is PP or punter protector and I kind of like it. I used to hate it, but now I kind of like being the PP and being out there and controlling.””
 
<h2>#18 Jason Croom | RS Senior Tight End</h2>
As a redshirt senior, Croom has been through both the highs and lows of Tennessee football over the last half-decade. Even with injuries hampering part of his career and consistent playing time, he has continued to improve the program and serve as a leader for Team 120 as he finishes out his final season as a Volunteer.
“I’m not one to be in everybody’s face. I correct things that I see going on, and I really try to lead by example. I don’t want to be out there telling somebody to do something and then I’m not doing it myself. I hold myself to a standard, and then I hold my teammates to the same thing.”

The seniors spoke about how the program has grown over the past four years and what they hope their legacy will be.
The Vols (7-3, 3-3 SEC) are receiving votes in the latest AP Top 25 and Coaches Poll. Tennessee will play Missouri (3-7, 1-5 SEC) on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. The game will feature a live broadcast on CBS, featuring the crew of Verne Lundquist, Gary Danielson and Allie LaForce.
 
#50 Corey Vereen | Senior Defensive Lineman
Four years ago, it would have been almost unimaginable to picture a late-season scenario where the Vols were in position to compete for the SEC East crown. Today, Tennessee needs two wins and a Florida loss to earn its first trip to the SEC Championship Game since 2007. Vereen spoke about what it would mean if Team 120 was able to achieve this major goal.
“It would mean everything. That’s what we work towards every day. That’s what we worked towards in the offseason. Everybody was talking about it, including the media. We took it upon ourselves to make sure that we work hard in the offseason. It’s here, so we have got to go take it.”
 
#4 LaTroy Lewis | RS Senior Defensive Lineman
Tennessee football has come a long way from the 5-7 season Lewis experienced when redshirting as a freshman back in 2012. Lewis and several of the senior leaders on Team 120 have played a major part in returning Tennessee football to national prominence. “Brick By Brick” was <a href="http://universityoftennesseeathletics.cmail20.com/t/d-l-dixukl-wavuuk-m/" target="_blank" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?hl=en&q=http://universityoftennesseeathletics.cmail20.com/t/d-l-dixukl-wavuuk-m/&source=gmail&ust=1479371700913000&usg=AFQjCNEnfNJjOy4qCC6_wmEnd000q3VvoQ" rel="noopener">Butch Jones’</a> rallying call back in 2013. These seniors helped lay the foundation for the program that thrives today.
“We have established and built a culture that exceeds what we do on the football field. That’s something that I’m excited to come back and see. It’s bigger than myself. #13 Malik Foreman | Senior Defensive Back
An East Tennessee native, Foreman has been a consistent performer during his four years on Rocky Top. “I feel like I’ve matured over the last four years. I feel like I struggled early on in my career but as I’ve matured and got to learn football and got to know the game more. I got better as a person and a player … There’s going to be some ups and downs in your career and in life. You can’t let them set you back. I just feel like I just kept my head down and kept on pushing and I’m content with where I’m at right now.”

As Dobbs winds down an impressive Tennessee career as the Vols’ starting quarterback, he continues to climb UT’s career stats charts. Entering Week 12 of the 2016 season, Barnett has also been named a semifinalist for the Chuck Bednarik Award for Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year, a candidate for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and a watch list nominee for the Ted Hendricks Award, honoring college football’s best defensive end.
Through Tennessee’s first 10 games this year, Barnett owns 42.0 total tackles, 10.0 sacks, 16.0 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, two pass breakups and eight quarterback hurries. He is the only player in the Southeastern Conference with double-digit sacks this season, with all 10.0 of his sacks coming in SEC play. He ranks in a tie for sixth-most sacks on the season, nationally.
Barnett ranks second in career sacks for Tennessee with 30.0 and is just the second Volunteer in history to record 30.0 career sacks, chasing UT legend Reggie White with 32.0. Players earned a position on the preliminary Rotary Lombardi Award watch list by receiving All-American honors, being named to their respective all-conference teams or by receiving 2016 preseason honors. The Top 20 nominations were narrowed by votes from an electorate made up of head coaches from all FCAA FBS winners and finalists, as well as sports journalists and members of the Football Writers Association of America. Currently there are approximately 400 voters.
Since 1970 the Lombardi Award has been presented to the nations’ top college football lineman. In 2016, eligibility advanced to include all player positions who demonstrate outstanding performance and skill in offensive or defensive positions and best exemplify the discipline, virtue and wisdom that defined Vincent Lombardi’s exceptional brand of leadership. The Top 20 selection includes a variety of player positions including four quarterbacks, five offense and 11 traditional defensive positions.
The award ceremony, that will be broadcast nationally, will be held in Houston on Saturday, February 11, 2017.
