70.

Traveling overseas and staying at one of luxury family resorts Maldives is always an adventure. But the fun side of that adventure can turn to pain if you aren’t prepared.

 71.
Making sure the devices we rely on to keep us connected is one of the top challenges.

 72.
After booking an Istanbul trip at madeinturkeytours.com, one of my big questions was how I would keep my devices charged. Different countries use different outlets and voltages, many of which aren’t compatible with the chargers we have in the U.S..

 73.
We relied on our ability to purchase an adapter once we got there which proved more challenging than expected.

 74.
When we asked, some said we just needed an adapter, others said we would need a converter. Others said it depended on what we were plugging in and where.

 75.
We opted for a $20 universal adapter. It was the only thing we could find while stumbling around Venice trying to find anyone that had anything that could help.

 76.
It turned out the adapter was the same make we would find throughout Italy.

 77.
It is a cheap, mass-produced, made for a tourist universal adapter.

 78.
The good news is it worked!

 79.
The bad news is it only worked once.

 80.
We bought more than one and none lasted. It felt like a racket, but it was just a poorly made product.

 81.
Even when it did work, it only allowed us to charge one device at a time. For two people traveling with iPhones, apple watches, laptops, and a camera, it only went a small way toward solving the problem.

 82.
After returning to the U.S. I set out to find something that would be more suitable for our future travels. Then, OneAdaptr reached out asking if I would like to review their new universal charging station. Given my recent experience, seemed like a pretty good idea!

 83.
Twist Plus Design

 84.
Gone are the days of needing multiple, changeable adapters with several parts.

 85.
The Twist Plus is a compact single unit, and designed to stay firm in when plugged in. Even when plugged into older outlets that are a little loose, the Twist stayed secure. In every case we tried the charging station, it left enough room next to it not to obscure the adjacent outlet.

 86.
The added weight of the MacBook power brick doesn’t leave the Twist Plus feeling any less sturdy in the wall.

 87.
One of my favorite decisions of the OneAdaptr team is the use of a rotating dial to flip through the different plug options. Just push a button and turn. When the one you want pops all the way out, just let off the button and it’s locked in place.

 88.

 89.
The twisting motion isn’t quite as smooth on my demo unit as I would prefer but that is a small gripe and doesn’t detract from how well this product solves the charging dilemma.

 90.
The barrel shaped design is also far more attractive than other chargers we’ve seen.

 91.
Twist Plus Features

 92.
The built in adapters will cover you in over 150 countries so the moniker “universal” is more than fair.

 93.
One of the keys to a universal charging station is showing only the plug you need for the given location while hiding the rest.

 94.
The Twist accomplishes this using a rotating dial that cycles through the various plugs when you turn it, exposing one and retracting the others.

 95.
We always travel with several devices so the 4 USB ports are a huge benefit. The USB ports run up to 4.0Amp while charging multiple devices at once.

 96.
The also Twist has built in 3A fuse protection in case of a surge and can handle outlets from 110 – 240Vac.

 97.
The addition of the MackBook adapter is a must-have if you are a Mac user. It will keep your workspace tidy while freeing up plugs for other travelers or devices which may need them.

 98.
Should I Buy The Twist Plus

 99.
If first impressions matter, they had me at hello. After traveling the US with it, I’m still a fan.

 100.
I’m not traveling outside the U.S. for a while so I won’t get to test it overseas until then but I’ll be sure to report back when I do.

 101.
But based on our experience so far, the Twist Plus is a bargain.

 102.
If you’re searching for a well built universal charging station that will help you keep several devices charged on your trip take a look at the Twist Plus.

 103.
If you’re not a MacBook user, you they also have devices without the MacBook charging port.

 104.
The device is $44.99 (USD) which I would consider a bargain. Remember we spent $20 each on devices while overseas that weren’t lasting more than one use. Not to mention the inconvenience of having to keep hunting them down.

 105.
Not only will this device last, it will give you peace of mind knowing that you will be able to charge your devices in many locations.

 106.
Buy the Twist Plus Universal adapter on Oneadaptr.com.

 126.

Uncovering the iPhone 7: A10 chip 2.4 GHz, better cameras, water resistance, new colors, and more…

 127.
There are a lot of ways to sell electronics online, but online buyback programs are probably the most convenient.

 128.
Here are the final details about the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus that Apple will present this Wednesday. Although we already knew many of the new features of this new generation of iPhone such as the iPhone Xr Refurbished, Well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has gone one step further and is much more specific about the features and specifications of the new iPhone 7s. This article is a spoiler of the highest magnitude. If you want to hold on to the few minor surprises which may be left in the keynote, maybe you should not read this article… or the internet or talk to anyone, or get out of bed. Remember in case your device gets damaged, iPhone back glass repair has an affordable and quick solution for you.

 129.
Kuo confirms the design we have seen in recent weeks: The new phone will retain the current generation chassis with antenna redesign and new cameras as the only significant outward change. Internally, the iPhone 7 will be a completely new phone, especially when it comes to processing power.

 130.
The iPhone 7 will come with the brand new Apple A10 chip – a CPU capable of running at 2.4 GHz. A significant change from the current A9. The processor will be manufactured by TSMC and will use a new 10nm process that will improve performance and speed. RAM will also be increased in the iPhone 7 Plus to 3 GB, while the 4.7 inch model will retain its current 2 GB of RAM. The reason for the bump in RAM on the larger model is due to the dual camera which imposes a greater processing burden on the device.

 131.
4 + 2 – 1 = 5

 132.
As rumored for the past few weeks, Kuo has also confirmed 2 new colors for the iPhone 7: Dark Black and Piano Black. The first will be slightly darker than the current Space Gray and the second will have a glossy finish similar to the MacPro desktop. Who would have thought that when Phil Schiller said “Can’t innovate anymore, my ass!” during the MacPro announcement at WWDC 2013, he was actually referring to the finish on the computer.

 133.
Apple will discontinue the current Space Gray with the introduction of the iPhone 7. Moving forward, there will be five color options available: Silver, Gold, Rose Gold, Dark Black and Piano Black. Kuo has indicated the Piano Black may be exclusive to the iPhone 7 256GB models.

 134.
Soon after the real iPhone 7 leaks started in July, we began hearing about the device’s camera. Apple will improve the cameras in both models, but the big changes come with the iPhone 7 Plus and its unique dual-lens camera. This camera will allow optical zoom similar to a light field camera. One camera will host a wide-angle lens and the other will have a medium focal-length lens. I expect both to have 12 megapixel sensors and optical image stabilization. The final result will be different from other camera phones on the market with dual cameras like the Huawei P9. For the exact details… we will have to wait a few more hours.

 135.
This is not the only new feature being introduced with the iPhone 7 camera. It appears that Apple will also include a new flash LED that will enhance the result of images taken in low light conditions. If rumors are to be believed, we will have three new LEDs to illuminate our images: 2 warm and 2 cold.

 136.
Waterproof?

 137.
Another new feature which has been all but confirmed by Apple is the IPX7 water resistance certification of the new iPhone 7, which is similar to the Apple Watch. IPX7 certification would allow for the phone to get completely wet under a water fountain for a half hour without any detrimental effects. If true, I will be able to leave my Samsung Note home on shoots. I have always used the Samsung phones in inclement weather… no more. Will you be brave enough to try it?

 138.
The iPhone 7 screen will also see a small improvement, although it will retain the current resolution. Apple will include the same technology found in the 9.7-inch iPad Pro to render a much wider range of colors and improve the appearance of photographs taken with the iPhone’s camera.

 139.
Several sources have indicated the iPhone 7’s box will have EarPods with a Lightning cable and a 3.5 mm headphone adapter. No one is expecting a set of wireless “AirPods” with any of the models. The space left by the missing headphone jack will not be used to incorporate a new speaker, but is expected to instead include a new sensor to enhance the 3D Touch device. Check out this site instead for the best airpod alternatives.

 140.
The proximity sensor on the new iPhone 7 will increase recognition and distance accuracy while allowing new gesture recognition. I hope we also find a new internal amplifier to improve the external sound.

 141.
32GB, 128GB and 256GB, Oh My!

 142.
Finally, several analysts are expecting new storage capacities in the iPhone 7: 32GB, 128GB, and 256GB. Apple will remove the current 16GB model, which was expected for some months, along with the 64 GB model.

 143.
As for sales, Apple is expected to sell 65 million iPhone 7’s in 2016, a decrease from the 82 million iPhone 6s’ that were sold last year.

 144.
If you want to watch the announcement live, Apple will be streaming it here http://www.apple.com/apple-events/september-2016/ at noon CST on Wednesday, September 7th.

 145.
Now it’s your turn: What do you think about the specifications of the iPhone 7? Leave a comment.

 163.

I’ve had the opportunity to listen to the evolution of in-ear monitors from Rock Jaw Audio, known for mid-range headphones and earphones. My most recent pair dubbed “Clarito” are a solid next step.

 164.
The British firm is targeting frugal customers looking for a higher quality audio experience at a great price.

 165.
If that sounds like you, give these earbuds serious consideration.

 166.
Clarito Aesthetics & Fit

 167.
How your earbuds look is of much less importance than the sound they produce. But aesthetics are not without their place and Rock Jaw has produced monitors that look more expensive than they are.

 168.
The aluminum dark gray casing looks elegant and is more classy than the plain white or colored earbuds you’ll get out of the box with most devices. The bullet shaped design means the earbuds will protrude a little from your ears but not uncomfortably so.

 169.
The cord is a simple, black, and rubber coated, some what more indicative of the price. It looks good and feels nice but is otherwise unremarkable.

 170.
The design is nice, but not opulent, which is spot on for its intended market. If you want to look like you spent more on your earphones than you did, these will get you there.

 171.
The earbuds use interchangeable silicon tips which fit comfortably in your ears. Small, medium, and large sizes come in the package. I’ve found that the snug fit and design do a good job of blocking out most external sounds. Even while flying there is a noticeable reduction of ambient sound even when no music is playing.

 172.
Clarito are also comfortable to wear for long periods of time. I’ve worn them during several 1 – 1.5 hour walks and workouts without developing any soreness or fatigue in my ears.

 173.
As for working out, these earbuds are a good choice. They’re snug enough and light enough to stay in your ears during most activities including running. If you’re into particularly aggressive workouts or activities that are high-impact, theses monitors may not serve you as well as some specifically designed for those activities. But for the rest of us, they will perform just fine in most active scenarios.

 174.
Clarito Electronics & Construction

 175.
Inside the aluminum bodies the Clarito put to work 8mm drivers that resonate a frequency response between 20 – 20,000 Hz. The drivers and frequency response are inline with earbuds in this price range.

 176.
The 3.5mm jack extends at a right angle from the end of the cord eliminating some of the stress tat is often put on the cord when plugged in. The base of the jack is also covered in rubber and is reinforced where it connects with the cord.

 177.
Clarito Sound

 178.
Strongest in the bass-range, these monitors still deliver respectable mid-range and high-end audio. It is a solid audio experience across a variety of music, particularly for earbuds at this price point.

 179.
The lows are deep and rich across almost every musical genre I tested.

 180.
The highs were there but don’t get the same treatment as the bass range.

 181.
The mid-range is quite clear but also sounded a touch flat to me. While it wasn’t at all bad, it sounded a touch overlooked. That said, I wouldn’t consider that a detractor for these earbuds. Rock Jaw is still over-delivering on sound for the price.

 182.
While the earbuds remained reasonably clear across the sound spectrum, at volume they loose a little clarity. I found this particularly with music that has a lot going on by way of voices and instrumentation. If you want to keep the audio experience at its best with the Clarito, I’d keep the volume to an 8 or less.

 183.
If you love that amped up hyper-bass at volume experience, knock yourself out.

 184.
The Test Playlist

 185.
I tend to be a Rock guy but put the Clarito monitors through a variety of songs across musical genres to offer a sense of what you might expect depending on your preference in music.

 186.
I tested all songs playing through a MacBook Pro and iTunes to reflect what I believe will be a common experience for a lot of listeners. What follows are rough-notes form 15 songs, jotted down while listening.

 187.
Don’t Stop Believin’ – Journey:

 188.
Since this song is pretty much universal loved I thought it would be a good place to start.

 189.
The piano bass is rich and full. Steve Perry’s voice is clear, though a pinch more high would be nice. Rhythm guitars sound a pinch flat but not bad. The bass line really stands out.

 190.
I can hear all of the individual instruments clearly.

 191.
Smooth Operator – Sade:

 192.
Again, the bass jumps out. Sade’s voice is very clear. The high/low separation is clearer on this song that some others. Harmony vocals also sound good and clear. The saxophone has classic raspy sax sound and is distinct in the mid-range.

 193.
Sade sounds great on these monitors.

 194.
El Tango De Roxanne – Moulin Rouge Original Motion Picture Sound Track:

 195.
The bass is rich and the opening violin is clear in the highs. The bass (or double bass) really fills your head with music. Vocals by Jose Feliciano get a little lost in the bass. You can hear him but the bass seems to over power him a bit.

 196.
Ewan’s early high notes sound clear and as the song builds and more instruments and voices overlay this is where the earbuds struggle a bit at volume. The clean separation gives way to less distinction of individual instruments and vocals. It’s not bad, but noticeable if you’re listening for it.

 197.
Rainbow In The Dark – DIO:

 198.
Classic metal sounds surprisingly good on these monitors. Ronnie’s voice jumps out and the guitars sound good. Bass still dominates a bit but not as much as with some of the other songs tested. Music of this era was mixed flatter than current music tends to be which is why it suits these earbuds so well.

 199.
The highs of the keyboards is also nice and clear.

 200.
No One Like You – Scorpions:

 201.
Guitar harmony right out if the gate is clear and distinct. Bass is rich and not as overpowering here. Klaus’ vocals sound amazing and the clean guitar part really sounds nice. More 80’s metal guitars sounding good here taking good advantage of the mid-range these earbuds produce. The guitar leads sound good too.

 202.
Just A Kiss – Lady Antebellum:

 203.
This song sounds particularly well balanced through the Clarito earbuds. Female and male vocals are well balanced and the harmony parts are clear. The bass is very present when it kick in but vocals still sound good. Other instruments seem to get overshadowed a bit.

 204.
Before He Cheats – Carrie Underwood:

 205.
Lots of clean bass in this song. Carrie sounds good and overall vocals are clear and clean including the background vocals. Guitars blend a bit but are distinct in their solo parts and riffs. I’d like the hear the steel slide a little better but given the emphasis on bass this is inline with expectations.

 206.
Tonight I Want To Cry – Keith Urban:

 207.
Ballads seen to do especially well on these earbuds. His voice is full and clear. The strings are easy to hear without overpowering anything else or loosing clarity. Bass is still rich but a little less overpowering than on some other songs.

 208.
You Know My Name – Chris Cornell:

 209.
The full range of this song fills your ears through these headphones. Bass might be a little bit much here as it really overpowers other instruments. There are some subtleties in this song that get a little lost. Cornell’s voice still stands out well. The brass instruments definitely get knocked back a bit.

 210.
Bad Romance -Lady Gaga:

 211.
Lot’s of bass again, it’s clearly the strongest point for these earbuds. In this case the bass is a little too much and causes a pinch of distortion. Gaga sounds good and the subtle notes are still audible, though during the chorus the bass really takes over.

 212.
Bleed it Out – Linkin Park:

 213.
This song sounds like it might have been engineered on these earbuds. Everything is well balanced, vocals are clear, and instruments are present but not overpowering. Even the bass seems a little toned down on this one.

 214.
The Mission – Queensryche:

 215.
Acoustic guitars and Geoff Tate’s voice come through with great clarity. I love the way the bass in his voice sounds on these monitors. Guitars are well balanced in the mid-range. Harmony vocals are clear and crisp.

 216.
The lead guitars are also clean and crisp. All-in-all this is an excellent experience.

 217.
This song is from the album Operation:Mindcrime and is a great album to kick back and listen to through headphones, as if it was engineered with that intent While I would recommend doing so through the highest-end pair of headphones you can get your hands on, you won’t be disappointed with the experience with the Clarito earbuds. It’s quite notable that this album performs well through them.

 218.
Umbrella – Rhianna:

 219.
I love the bass on this song, the earbuds really bring it forward. Rhianna’s voice is upfront but the bass is keeping pace. The keyboards get a little lost but still play their part well. Harmony parts are easy to here but get a little lost at high volume. If you’re into R ‘n B or Hip-Hop you’ll love the Claritos.

 220.
Fleurs du mal – Sarah Brightman:

 221.
Sara’s voice will test any audio system so I was really looking forward to how this one would turn out.

 222.
The orchestral intro on the song plays well in the mid-range and is nice across the full dynamic range.

 223.
Sara’s voice sounds extremely clear and the notable bass in these monitors puts a nice underscore on her vocals. The subtlety of the music doesn’t get lost at all which was a bit of a surprise given then tendency of bass to dominate here.

 224.
The backing chorus sounds very good as well. Sara’s neo-classical music is a great fit for these earbuds.

 225.
Symphony 40 – Mozart, Conducted by Christopher Hogwood:

 226.
Strings are clear and crisp and the bass isn’t overwhelming, thought it’s present when things kick in. Getting through the first movement, which is rather dynamic in it’s range, these earbuds provide a nice listening experience for classical music.

 227.
Should I Buy Clarito from Rock Jaw

 228.
The short answer is yes. If you wan an attractive, well built, good sounding pair of in-ear monitors. Clarito will definitely up the game from the stock earbuds that came with your device.

 229.
I would give you a particularly strong “Yes” if you love emphasis on bass.

 230.
They’re also good for workouts, unless you’re doing something very high-impact or aggressive.

 231.
At this price the Clarito In-Ear Monitors from Rock Jaw are hard to beat.

 232.
You can get yours on the Rock Jaw website. At the time of this writing they were going for $31.55 USD (converted from GBP).

 274.
DJI and uAvionix Corporation announced Wednesday they will collaborate on an ADS-B based collision avoidance developer kit to help integrate drones into the national airspace system and help keep America’s skies safe.

 275.
“DJI and uAvionix share a passion for safety and are motivated by the improvement that real-time air traffic information will provide to our developers using our software development kit,” said DJI VP of Engineering, Darren Liccardo. “DJI developers will now be able to process ADS-B data and close the loop all within an embedded computer onboard the vehicle.”

 276.
The uAvionix line of “Ping” sensors are the smallest and lightest ADS-B based hardware available for unmanned aircraft. The Ping ADS-B receiver allows a drone to sense surrounding aircraft and initiate collision avoidance maneuvers based on that information. The DJI Onboard Software Development Kit (SDK) enables this interaction by providing a flexible means of accessing the drone’s flight control systems. Developers can now create customized applications that use Ping ADS-B data to implement collision avoidance to suit their needs.

 277.
“Working in concert with the DJI Onboard SDK, our aircraft avoidance technology will provide a more complete picture of potential conflicts in the airspace,” said Paul Beard, uAvionix’ Founder and CEO. “Through our collaboration, DJI and uAvionix will add the necessary synergy and momentum behind safely integrating drones in the national airspace.”

 278.
Adding Ping ADS-B into a collision avoidance system can help prevent conflicts if a drone pilot loses situational awareness, operates too close to other aircraft or inadvertently strays into restricted airspace. A drone paired with the uAvionix ping2020 transceiver can transmit its position to surrounding aircraft and air traffic control, helping integrate drones into the national airspace. uAvionix’ Ping transmitter network marries with existing radar systems to provide manned aircraft pilots with early warning of drones operating in their vicinity.

The NAOPA awards were presented at the SP Richards (SPR) ABC show in Washington D.C. on July 21.

 297.

 298.
The awards were launched in 2010 by Office Products International (OPI) in association with SPR. Now in their seventh year, these awards set the industry standard and aim to find the best business products in North America. They were judged by a panel of leading resellers and the winners were announced during a packed General Session at SPR’s ABC.

 300.
“The judges recognize the need in offices and home working environments for great, hardworking solutions to the problem of using laptops comfortably and conveniently. This new, low-profile docking station enables users to quickly connect and disconnect their laptops with their entire desktop setup – not just some parts – with a single USB cable. And the mounting option can reduce desk clutter completely – which is ever more important where space is limited. The judges thought this was a great product that would sell very well.” Steve Hilleard, CEO of OPI.

 305.
How the product has improved upon previous designs/models

 306.
The benefits for the reseller and the consumer

 307.
The level of marketing support, innovation and initiatives in promoting the products to the end-user

 332.

 333.
95 million Americans are over the age of 50. And they are the first generation to grow up listening to LOUD rock music – so many suffer from minor hearing impairment. Combine those rock-impaired ears with the puny sound systems built into flat screen TVs and you get an epidemic of people who are constantly asking “What did he say?” while watching TV shows. Millions of people simply can’t understand dialogue on many shows.

 334.
The new AccuVoice TV Speaker from ZVOX is the best, smartest solution for this problem. Only 17” wide, it uses a computer processor that mimics the functionality of a hearing aid. It applies an advanced compression/equalization algorithm that lifts voices out of background sounds to create the clearest dialogue reproduction ever. This proprietary (patent-pending) technology is activated only when voices are detected in a soundtrack.

 335.
“I went to my first concert in 1966. The Who. Fargo Civic Auditorium. Admission $1.25. My hearing was better when I walked in than when I walked out. I’m not alone. Millions of baby boomers with “rock tested ears” are now listening to the worst sound systems in TV history. But Baby, AccuVoice can fix that!” Tom Hannaher, CEO and long time Who fan.

 336.
The AccuVoice TV speaker is enclosed in an elegant aluminum cabinet and uses three high performance full-range speaker drivers to create realistic, room-filling sound. ZVOX’s proprietary PhaseCue virtual surround system produces three-dimensional sound from a speaker that’s half the size of a loaf of French bread.

 337.
The AccuVoice TV Speaker will be available at selected retail and online stores (including bestbuy.com, amazon.com and crutchfield.com) and direct from the zvoxaudio.com web site. Shipping September, 2016.

 338.
Kickstarter Introductory Campaign. This week ZVOX will launch a Kickstarter.com campaign to help introduce this revolutionary new product. Consumers who pre-order the system will receive special Kickstarter discounts on their speakers. During singer Georgia Nott’s performance, the team translated her biodata and energy – as captured by her Microsoft Band – into stunning geometric visuals in the music video. The brother-sister duo wanted to rethink the music video experience and create a deeper, more emotional layer for their second single “HEARTLINES,” co-written with fellow New Zealanders singer-songwriter Lorde and Joel Little.

 395.
To celebrate the worldwide premiere of the music video, Capitol Records hosted a special performance and panel session at the Microsoft Venice Lounge in Los Angeles. The intimate invite-only event included a special stripped down performance by Broods and an exclusive look at the Microsoft enabled live show which fans will be able to experience during the band’s upcoming US tour, which kicks off today, August 1, in Washington D.C.

 419.
A couple of days ago the folks at Tylt sent over one of their new ENERGI Desktop Charging Station’s, and I’ve been using it ever since. It’s a wonderful little unit that has a reasonably small footprint, good looks, and one very special feature – a built in removable battery!

 421.
Tylt’s new ENERGI Desktop Charging Station is currently in the middle of a crowdfunding campaign, and doing quite well over on Indiegogo. From the first look, the packaging is attractive and functional.

 422.

 423.

 424.
And so is the actual unit. It offers 4 ports that can charge with up to 2.4amps of power, depending on what the device being charged is capable of, and also has a slot for a 3,200mah battery that can be ejected and carried with you to top off a mobile device on the go.

 425.

 426.
When you return, just pop the battery back in the charger and the lights will blink to indicate that its refilling the juice for later.

 427.

 428.
The ENERGI Desktop Charger is due to cost $99 when it hits the shelves, but early backers can pick one up for $55 on the Indiegogo campaign, or $65 with a pair of Tylt charging cables.
