20.
Jacob Cowing took a chance when he decided to transfer to a program that was coming off a 1-11 season. That gamble paid off for him and Arizona.

 21.
The former Wildcat wide receiver was chosen by the San Francisco 49ers in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft on Saturday, becoming the UA’s first drafted wideout since Juron Criner in 2012. Cowing was selected 135th overall and the last pick of the fourth round.

 29.
The 5-foot-8, 168-pound Cowing caught 175 passes for 1,882 yards and 20 touchdowns in two seasons for Arizona, setting a school record with 13 TD catches in 2023 in helping the Wildcats go 10-3 and win the Alamo Bowl.

 30.
A native of Maricopa, Ariz., Cowing played three seasons at UTEP where he had 141 catches for 2,595 yards and 13 TDs. For his career, Cowing ranks seventh in FBS history in receiving yards (4,477) and tied for ninth in catches (316), and his 33 career TD catches is also top 50 all-time.

 50.
 51.
Arizona will host its annual Spring Game on Saturday night inside Arizona Stadium, but don’t expect anywhere close to the amount of flair, pomp and circumstance that existed under the previous coaching staff.

 52.
“Saturday is I think it’s going to be a little bit more (of a practice),” UA coach Brent Brennan said. “There’s gonna be some live work in there, but it’s not going to a divide the team ... type of deal.”

 53.
The event, which begins at 6 p.m. PT and will air live on the Pac-12 Network, will mark the end of spring for a program that is coming off one of the best seasons in school history but is also in a transition. Brennan and his staff arrived in late January after the abrupt departure of Jedd Fisch et. al to Washington.

 54.

 55.

 56.
See you tomorrow, Wildcat Nation!

️: https://t.co/uv9bRMMiOK pic.twitter.com/fsrXxdKlvh
— Arizona Athletics (@AZATHLETICS) April 27, 2024
 57.

 58.
 59.
 60.

 61.
“I think the development over the 14 practices has been great,” linebackers coach/special teams coordinator Danny Gonzales said. “Championship teams that I’ve been around don’t hit walls during spring practice. And I think this team has done a phenomenal job of being together with all the distractions that are out there, with the transfer portal and academics and late spring ball and a new coaching staff.”

 62.
The Spring Game costs $5 to enter, but UA boosters Humberto Lopez and Jim Click bought up all the tickets for the community and are giving them away. Fans can claim tickets online using the code SPRING.

 63.
“I mean, how good is that?,” Brennan said. “What great people to do that for the community here in Tucson. I’m fired up about that, we want to pack the house. We want there to be a great crowd, we want it be a great day. Kind of a great celebration of this group of young men that’s chosen to stay together and kind of battled through a tough transition and had a great spring practice. So we want to share that excitement and that enthusiasm with our fanbase, with the students.”

 64.
Brennan said some players may be held out of the Spring Game as a precaution—“the biggest thing for us is that we want to get to fall camp with everybody as healthy as we can possibly be”—and others will be limited. One notable absence from participation will be wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, who on Wednesday had a “little procedure” to address a lower leg injury suffered last weekend.

 65.
“We’re gonna be smart about who plays on Saturday, we’re going to be smart about the rep count,” Brennan said.

 66.
Among those expected to participate, though, are a few Wildcats who have put their names into the NCAA transfer portal during the spring window but who have remained with the team. Brennan said he hopes they will all stay, but understands it’s a personal choice and he wishes well anyone who moves on.

 67.
“I think as long as they’re out there, as far as the team is concerned, they’re in it, they’re going through the work, they’re in the fight with the guys are out there on the field, with the coaches that are out there on the field,” Brennan said. “And so I think that looking at it any other way is foolish because again, it’s a personal decision, an individual decision, but they’re busting their tails for their teammates, for this coaching staff and this university, for this community. That’s been that’s been really fun to watch.”

 68.
Brennan said more than 200 former players are expected to attend the Spring Game—no Gronk this time, sorry—and the UA will have several recruits, both high school and transfers, in attendance.

 69.
Asked what his message has been to visitors during spring, Brennan said it’s the team that has done most of the heavy lifting in this area.

 70.
“I think the best football programs, the players are the best recruiters in the building,” he said. “Players are the ones who are able to communicate what kind of experience they’ve had. And so that’s been really important for us as a coaching staff to get to know this team, and for them to get to know us, and get a feel for them. They already had such a strong culture and such a strong brotherhood and we want to double down on that.

 71.
“I think that’s one of the ways that you can be highly competitive is being more connected than everybody else. At a time when it’s harder to be connected than it’s ever been, just the way people are getting pulled out from all these different outside sources. I think all those guys are fun to be around. They’re great with the players that we brought in, they do a heck of a job, because they’re all there. They’re so committed to the program that they show up in a great way on official visit weekends. And it’s authentic, it’s real, and I think the recruits and their families feel it.”

 89.

 90.
 91.
The No. 19 Arizona Wildcats came into the opening game of their series at No. 9 UCLA having only lost two games in April. Their six wins had come against pitching staffs with ERAs of 3.09, 3.14, 4.41, and 4.62. The Bruins’ staff is third in the Pac-12 at 2.68.

 92.
The question was whether the Bruins were pitching that well because they had three games canceled. Two of those missed games were against California, which hits more home runs and doubles than any other team in the league. Another was against Oregon, which is one the best in runs scored and total hits.

 93.
On Friday evening, the Bruins showed that their pitching can hold up regardless of who they play. A combination of Taylor Tinsley and Kaitlyn Terry held UA to four hits in five innings in a 10-2 UCLA run-rule victory.

 94.
The Wildcats have more hits (402) and RBI (261) than anyone else in the league. They are one walk behind Stanford for the most walks in the conference. However, they once again showed that they struggle against the better pitchers in the conference. The pitching also had another tough day against a top team.

 95.
Since Pac-12 play started, UA is 2-7 when it scores fewer than six runs. It was the same story on Friday night. The schedule got tougher again and the Wildcats struggled to pitch and to hit.

 96.
The heart of the order—Carlie Scupin, Allie Skaggs, Blaise Biringer, and Olivia DiNardo—could get nothing working. The four hitters went 0-for-8 with three strikeouts. Skaggs’ RBI on a fielder’s choice and Scupin’s two walks were the only real production from the middle of the lineup.

 97.
The top and bottom of the order were a little more successful, but it was not nearly enough. Leadoff Dakota Kennedy went 0-for-2 with one walk. Regan Shockey was 1-for-3 and got a runner in when her short game caused a UCLA error. She also stole a base. Meanwhile, the bottom of the order—Emily Schepp, Tayler Biehl, and Kaiah Altmeyer—all went 1-for-2. Both Biehl and Altmeyer scored a run.

 98.
The offensive futility is not a surprise considering that both Tinsley and Terry sport an ERA below 2.00. Arizona needed its own pitchers to respond, but they couldn’t.

 99.
The Bruins scored every inning beginning with a solo home run by Maya Brady against Wildcat starter Brooke Mannon in the bottom of the first. Mannon put two more runners on base after Brady, but she got the final two outs without giving up another run.

 100.
Things got out of hand in the bottom of the second. A leadoff walk and a single put two on. That forced the pitching change.

 101.
Aissa Silva came in to relieve Mannon, but she couldn’t stop the UCLA defense either. She walked former Wildcat Janelle Meoño on four pitches to load the bases and bring the top of the order back around. There were still no outs.

 102.
Brady once again made the Wildcats pay. She drove in two of the three runners on base with a one-out single that left runners on the corners. Up came former Wildcat Sharlize Palacios. Her sacrifice fly brought in Meoño. Jadelyn Allchin’s RBI single followed.

 103.
Silva allowed two more singles after Allchin to load the bases again. Miranda Stoddard came in to try to end things. She did that, not allowing another run to cross, but the Bruins led 5-0 after just two innings.

 104.
Arizona finally answered in the top of the third when the bottom of the order came up. Biehl got a hit to lead things off. Altmeyer followed with her own single. Dakota Kennedy’s groundout moved both into scoring position.

 105.
Shockey made things happen with her speed and guile. Her grounder ate up third baseman Thessa Malau’ulu, allowing Biehl to score and Altmeyer to reach third base. Shockey then stole second to once again give the Wildcats two in scoring position.

 106.
Skaggs’ groundout scored Altmeyer, cutting the UCLA lead to 5-2. It seemed like Arizona might be making some inroads.

 107.
The Bruins immediately slammed the door on those thoughts in the bottom of the third. They tacked on a run via Megan Grant’s solo home run to extend the lead to 6-2. Jordan Woolery drove in Allchin in the fourth to add another run to UCLA’s total.

 108.

 109.
The Bruins needed three outs and three runs in the fifth to end things early. They got them.

 110.
Arizona put two on in the top of the fifth, but the inning ended when Skaggs hit into a double play.

 111.
Stoddard came back out in the fifth to try to keep the score at 7-2, but things went sideways from the start. Two walks gave the Bruins two baserunners with one out. A fielder’s choice put runners on the corners with two outs.

 112.
Two-out rallies have been the bane of Arizona pitchers’ existence, and they were again on Friday night. An RBI single for Palacios put one run on the board in the bottom of the fifth. Allchin’s triple followed, driving in the other two runs the Bruins needed to finish the game.

 113.
The result reinforced the concerns that Arizona struggles both in the circle and at the plate against the better teams in the league. The Wildcats are now 2-5 against the three teams at the top of the Pac-12 standings. They have been outscored 53-20 in those games with 11 of their runs coming in one game against Stanford.

 114.
Oregon is the only team above them in the standings whom the ‘Cats have had real success against. UA won the series against UO, but the Ducks have many of the same issues as the Wildcats. Arizona outscored Oregon 14-12 in three games.

 115.
If they want to keep their slim hopes of hosting regionals alive, the Wildcats must find a way to overcome a top team like the Bruins. They have less than 24 hours to figure that out.

 139.
16 out of 17 overall

Arizona has decided to just not lose in conference play.

 140.
The Wildcats (26-14, 14-5) extended their school record to 11 consecutive Pac-12 victories on Friday night, beating Washington 3-2 on the road.

 141.
Mason White’s RBI single in the top of the 8th drove home Garen Caulfield to break a 2-2 tie, then Kyler Heyne and Anthony ‘Tonko’ Susac shut the door in the eighth and the ninth for the UA’s 16th win in 17 games overall.

 142.
Arizona managed only two hits and four baserunners in the first six innings against Washington starter Jared Engman before Adonys Guzman opened the top of the 7th with his first home run of the season. The Wildcats added another in the inning after Emilio Corona walked, stole second, moved to third on an error and scored on a wild pitch.

 143.
Corona reached base three times and had two steals, while Caulfield was 3 for 5 with a pair of doubles and freshman Andrew Cain had two hits and a walk.

 144.
Lefty Jackson Kent worked in and out of trouble over six scoreless innings, allowing seven hits and hitting a batter with four strikeouts but left in line for the win. That went away, though, when Washington (14-20-1, 6-13) tied it in the bottom of the 7th on a 2-run homer by Aiva Arquette against Casey Hintz.

 145.
Hintz walked three batters in 0.1 inning—after not issuing a walk since March 10 and only four all season—and came out with two on for Heyne. Heyne got a strikeout and a groundout to escape the 7th and then threw a scoreless 8th for the win.

 146.
Susac came on for the 9th and, after giving up a leadoff single struck out the next two and induced a game-ending groundout. It was the first career save for Susac, a junior who has been lights out since moving to the bullpen at the beginning of April.

 147.
In six appearances he’s struck out 13 while yielding two hits and a walk in six innings, dropping his ERA from 10.29 to 7.20.

 148.
Arizona and Washington continue their series Saturday at 2 p.m. PT, with righty Clark Candiotti (4-1, 3.34) on the mound. The Wildcats’ lead atop the Pac-12 is two games on Utah (27-13, 12-7) and 2.5 on Oregon State (32-9, 11-7).

 166.

 167.
 168.
The Pac-10 didn’t start sponsoring women’s sports until almost 15 years after Title IX passed in the fall of 1986. That’s four years after the Arizona Wildcats and UCLA Bruins played the first game of what would become the most storied rivalry in the sport of softball. On Friday, the teams begin their final series as members of the same conference.

 169.
When the rivalry began, the sport wasn’t yet under the aegis of the NCAA. Women played under the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) until 1982. The two teams began their time as members of the same league in 1980 when both were part of the Western Collegiate Athletic Association which became the Pacific West for one year in 1985-86.

 170.
The next year marked something big in Arizona softball history. It was the inaugural year of Mike Candrea’s 36-year tenure at the head of the program. UCLA already had four national titles by that time—one in the AIAW and three in the NCAA.

 171.
It wouldn’t be long before the Wildcats started adding some hardware of their own. The run started in 1991. There were five titles in the 1990s. Many fans think there should be a sixth but for the UCLA recruiting scandal that ended with the Bruins’ 1995 title being vacated. It was a title they took against the Wildcats, keeping Arizona from having five straight national championships.

 172.
The two teams have been either champions or runners-up a combined 32 times in the 42 years the NCAA has sponsored the sport. The Wildcats had to go through the Bruins for five of their eight titles. The Bruins’ 1992 title and vacated 1995 title both came against the Wildcats.

 173.
Does all of that end after Sunday?

 174.
Not if Arizona head coach Caitlin Lowe has anything to say about it.

 175.
“I know we’re gonna play them a ton in the future, too, and it’s just going to be in a different capacity,” Lowe said. “So, yeah, sad to see this be the last. We just got the Pac-12 tournament rolling and for this to be the last one, it’s a bummer. But at the same time, we’re making sure that we continue those relationships with a lot of our rivals, and I think we’ve developed a lot of rivalries throughout the top to bottom with the Pac-12. So, we’re making sure we get those games in pre-conference, and it won’t be the last time that we see them.”

 176.

 177.
In some ways, it could be a blessing in disguise. Arizona can play its former conference mates during the major tournaments early in the season. Whether it’s the Mary Nutter Classic in Cathedral City, Calif. or the Clearwater Invitational in Florida, the Western teams will no longer have to avoid each other in big events. They also can play in the smaller on-campus tournaments like the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe or the Candrea Classic in Tucson.

 178.
The ability to have high-level competition within easier travel distances could take the place of long trips to Tallahassee, Fla. or Tuscaloosa, Ala in the nonconference portion of the schedule. Unlike teams in the eastern part of the country, Pac-12 teams have not had the advantage of major-conference opponents in their own part of the country. By and large, the only major conference opponents within reasonable distance were in their own league.

 179.
Whatever the future holds, the players are trying not to stress about the current occasion.

 180.
“I do [think about it] a little but try not to go too deep into it because I know...it is this historic matchup always but I’m just trying to think like it’s another Pac-12 weekend,” freshman centerfielder Regan Shockey said. “Gotta grind. Not make it too big than it is really.”

 181.
There are things at stake in the series that have nothing to do with historic matchups, anyways. The Wildcats headed into three games that could potentially push them high enough in RPI to earn a top 16 seed in the NCAA Tournament. That would mean hosting regionals.

 182.
As of Apr. 25, Arizona (31-13-1) is No. 21 in the RPI. The Wildcats are 4-9 against teams in the RPI top 25 and have only lost one game to a team outside the top 50. That was a 3-2 loss at Oregon State that came in extra innings of the first game of an unusual doubleheader. The Beavers currently sit at No. 79.

 183.
The team heads into Westwood on a four-game winning streak. It has lost just two games in the month of April.

 184.
UCLA is riding high right now, too. It just completed a road sweep of Stanford to take over first place in the league standings. While the first game ended on a controversial call, the Bruins backed up that win with two more, including a second win over Cardinal ace NiJaree Canady.

 185.
The Wildcats will need to prove they can beat tough pitching. They have scored seven or more runs in seven of their 11 games in April, but they will be facing two strong young pitchers including reigning Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week Taylor Tinsley.

 186.
Freshman Kaitlyn Terry (1.97 ERA) and sophomore Tinsley (1.99 ERA) are ranked second and third in the Pac-12, respectively. While the Bruins have missed three games against the better offensive teams in the Pac-12 due to weather, they have been effective against other teams near the top in several offensive categories.

 203.
Arizona Athletics

 204.

 205.
 206.
Shortly after Arizona’s men’s basketball team was eliminated by Clemson in the Sweet 16 in Los Angeles on March 28, the Wildcat baseball team kicked off a weekend series at Hi Corbett Field against UCLA. Three games below .500 and losers of their last two Pac-12 series, the season was teetering on the brink of being lost.

 207.
About three hours later, Brendan Summerhill hit a walkoff 2-run homer to beat the Bruins in 10 innings, completing a comeback from down 3-0 and starting a run that is still going almost a month later.

 208.
That win was the second of what’s now 10 consecutive Pac-12 victories for Arizona, the longest streak in school history. It’s also part of 15 wins in 16 overall, elevating the UA from a team with almost no chance to make the NCAA Tournament to one that’s in the conversation to host a regional.

 209.

 210.
“I just think we’re never out of the fight,” junior second baseman Garen Caulfield said earlier this week. “I just think it’s the preparation and the confidence that we carry with us every day. Everybody’s focused right now. And really it started back in the fall. We knew we had a good group of guys, we were telling you in the preseason, and a lot of people didn’t really know about us, and we kind of used that as a motivation for this year and we’re just taking it day by day.”

 211.
Picked to finish ninth in the preseason, 16th-ranked Arizona (25-14, 13-5 Pac-12) takes a 2-game cushion on first place to Seattle for a 3-game series at Washington (14-19-1, 6-12). The Wildcats are 9-8 in true road games this season, including four in a row in Pac-12 play, after going 4-14 on the road last season.

 212.
D1Baseball.com has the UA as the No. 16 overall seed in its latest NCAA tourney projection, meaning it would host a regional at Hi Corbett. The Wildcats hosted in 2012 and 2021, making the College World Series both times.

 213.
The national ranking and NCAA projection weren’t around when Arizona went to Cal three weeks ago and swept a Golden Bears team that has since won nine of 10. Washington is battling just to get a spot in the final Pac-12 Tournament next month, and no doubt will give the Wildcats their best shot.

 214.
“We’re not sneaking up on anybody,” UA coach Chip Hale said. “There will be a little extra pressure on us.”

 215.
Arizona’s extended run has included six walkoff wins at Hi Corbett, including two of three last weekend against Washington State. But both of those games required the last at-bat drama after the bullpen gave up a multi-run lead, and in four other wins the Wildcats have lost a lead in the seventh or later.

 216.
Signs of concern for the bullpen? Not according to one of its most veteran members.

 217.
“I think some people from the outside see it as a negative thing, like we can’t finish games,” senior right-hander Dawson Netz said. “But when you realize that different teams play in different ways, like Washington State was a team that was going to sell out just to put the ball in play. So it’s going to be harder to strike more hitters out that way. So when you understand that like they’re just trying to put the ball in play. We’re not going to strike a bunch of guys out but we’re trying to get hitters out.”

 218.
Arizona’s bullpen has a collective 3.88 ERA, which ranks 14th in the country, fitting in with a team ERA of 3.75 that is 6th nationally. Netz is one of eight relievers that have rotated through a variety of roles in the pen, with his 13 appearances ranging from the second inning to extras, going 2-0 with a 3.95 ERA.

 219.
“Every inning is the ninth and you’ve gotta get everybody out,” said Netz, whose 87 career appearances are tied for fourth-most in school history.

 220.
One of two holdovers from the 2021 CWS team, along with senior righty reliever Trevor Long, Netz said he’s made sure to remind the many younger players on the team that it’s a privilege to play at Arizona. He’s one of five captains, and fellow veterans Caulfield and senior outfielder Emilio Corona have been at the forefront of keeping the team focused and motivated throughout the season.

 221.
“I would say that Garen, Emilio and Dawson as the captains did an unbelievable job of just keeping every as positive as we could, and being honest,” Hale said. “There was a lot of honesty that was shared, especially Garen did a good job of that of just sort of setting guys straight. We want to be positive, but honesty is important too.”

 222.
On Wednesday night, Arizona run-ruled New Mexico State 12-2 in Las Cruces to avenge one of its worst losses of the season, a 12-9 setback at Hi Corbett on March 26. That NMSU loss included a lengthy delay in the middle, due to lightning, during which Caulfield said Hale was “getting honest” with the team in the clubhouse.

 223.
“We went in there Chip had a good message for us and it kind of turned things around,” Caulfield said. “He said, just turn the scoreboard off and let’s fight to the end, and if we lose by nine, then we lose by nine. And if we come back and win we come back and win. He refocused us and we put together some really good at-bats to end that game.”

 224.
Down 9-1 at resumption, Arizona would outscore the Aggies 8-3 down the stretch. Include that in the 15 of 16 stretch and the Wildcats are outscoring opponents 111-52.

 225.
Morales remains out, Mihalakis filling void

 226.
Junior third baseman Richie Morales did not make the trip with Arizona to Las Cruces and Seattle, still recovering from taking a ground ball to the face April 16 at GCU. Thankfully, his absence hasn’t been felt much.

 227.
Sophomore Maddox Mihalakis has started the last four games at third, going without an error and starting a double play at NMSU. Meanwhile, at the plate he’s 8 for 18 with eight RBI including the walkoff RBI single against WSU on April 19 and a 3-run home run on Wednesday.

 228.
Milestone on horizon for Hale

 229.
If Arizona pulls off another sweep it would get Hale to 100 wins at Arizona. He sits at 97-65 in two-plus seasons coaching his alma mater.

 230.
The coach to reach 100 wins quickest is Jerry Kindall, the school’s all-time wins leader. He needed 124 games, while Frank Sancet did it in 145 and Jay Johnson (155).

 231.
Assuming Arizona gets into the NCAA tourney, though, Hale will do something almost none of his predecessors did: reach the postseason in his first three seasons on the job. Only Sancet, who made it every year from 1950-63, qualified more than two years in a row to start their UA coaching career.

 251.
Had he not suffered a season-ending knee injury in November 2022, Jordan Morgan would have been drafted a year ago and kept Arizona from going two years in a row without a selection. As a result, he became the Wildcats’ first opening-round pick in 16 years.

He is the first Wildcat offensive lineman picked since Eben Britton in 2009 and the first UA player to go in the first round since defensive back Antoine Cason went to the San Diego Chargers in 2008.

 260.
At No. 25, Morgan is the 10th highest-drafted player in school history, highest since Chris McAlister was 10th in 1999. He is the Wildcats’ 11th 1st-round pick.

 261.
The 6-foot-5, 311-pound Morgan started 37 games at left tackle for Arizona from 2019-23, a local product out of Marana High School who started twice as a true freshman and 21 games in a row from 2021-22 before injuring his left knee at UCLA. He was expected to be a high draft pick in 2023 before the injury, but because of it he returned to the Wildcats for a fifth season and ended up improving his draft stock.

 262.
Last season Morgan graded as the ninth-best offensive tackle in college football, per Pro Football Focus, allowing only two sacks on 459 dropbacks.

 283.
Meanwhile, another true freshman is in the portal

One of the biggest pieces of Arizona’s offense won’t participate in Saturday’s Spring Game. And with fall camp not starting until late July, it’s going to be a while before he’s seen in action by the public.

 284.
UA coach Brent Brennan announced Thursday that wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan had “a little procedure” on Wednesday, noting that he is expected to be healthy for the start of the 2024 season.

 285.
“We’re expecting a full recovery,” Brennan said. “I think you’ve see him cruising around on a scooter. He’s in good spirits. He’s a total warrior and we expect him back this season.”

 286.
McMillan, a projected first round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, appeared in suffer a lower leg injury late in last Saturday’s practice. He limped off the field and did not return, and Tuesday and Thursday was seen with a boot on his left foot.

 287.
Brennan did not provide details on the type of procedure or a timeline for McMillan’s return.

 288.
“It’ll take a little time,” he said.

 289.
The 6-foot-5, 210-pound McMillan has started 21 games the past two seasons for the UA, leading the Wildcats with 1,402 receiving yards in 2023. His 2,104 career yards ranks eighth in school history and he’s 1,248 yards away from breaking the school record held by current receivers coach Bobby Wade.

 290.
McMillan, along with quarterback and longtime friend Noah Fifita, have been credited with keeping together the bulk of Arizona’s team after Jedd Fisch left for Washington in mid-January.

 291.
Jordan Washington enters portal

 292.
Not long after Fisch’s departure, the majority of the players he signed in the 2024 recruiting class followed him to Seattle, including several who had already enrolled at the UA. Jordan Washington opted to stick with Arizona, participating in spring practice.

 293.
Now he’s in the NCAA transfer portal, entering Thursday and becoming the sixth UA player to go in this spring.

 294.
A 4-star prospect out of Long Beach, Calif., the 5-foot-10, 170-pound Washington was the No. 340 overall prospect in 2024 according to 247Sports. He picked the Wildcats over offers from Colorado State, Fresno State, Hawaii, Oregon, San Jose State and Washington.

 295.
Washington’s departure leaves Arizona with three scholarship running backs on the roster: senior Quali Conley, junior Rayshon ‘Speedy’ Luke and redshirt freshman Brandon Johnson. The Wildcats were supposed to be adding former Alabama State/New Mexico RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt this summer but he has since flipped to New Mexico.

 296.
Arizona had ex-Oregon State rusher Damien Martinez, the 2022 Pac-12 Offensive Freshman of the Year, in for a visit last week and are battling with Miami and Mississippi State for the projected 2025 draft pick.

 297.
Washington is the ninth prep signee from the 2024 class to either enter the portal or ask out of their national letter of intent with Arizona. Of that group, almost all have ended up in Seattle with Fisch.
