118.

 119.
 120.
And it is quite the schedule.

Ahead of its 2024 expansion with the addition of new members Texas and Oklahoma, the Southeastern Conference released each team’s conference foes on Wednesday night to show a preview into what life in the new SEC will be like — including the lack of divisions.

 121.
Although kickoff times and other specifics are still unknown, South Carolina will face LSU, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, and Missouri at home, while the Gamecocks travel to take on Kentucky, Alabama, Vanderbilt, and Oklahoma.

 122.
My rapid reaction? Man, this is weird. The Gamecocks lose two of their primary conference rivals in Georgia and Tennessee, and Florida is nowhere to be found either. In fact, since joining the SEC themselves in 1992, South Carolina has never not played those teams.

 123.
The Gamecocks also failed to escape their largely ill-fated (and much-derided) connection with Texas A&M, and picking up heavyweights like LSU, Alabama, and Oklahoma makes for some tough sledding, to put it mildly — especially since two of those three are away from home.

 124.
As for out-of-conference opponents in 2024, the Gamecocks are scheduled to take on Old Dominion, Akron, Wofford — and, of course, Clemson. That (mostly) soft OOC slate could help take the sting out of a challenging SEC draw, but moreso than any perceived difficulty, I’m having trouble wrapping my head around a season without playing the three biggest teams in the East. My current hope and assumption is that this is a stop-gap schedule until the SEC gets a better grasp on its new expanded format, votes to approve a nine-game schedule, and so on and so forth.

 125.
What do y’all think? Are you excited to see Oklahoma immediately in the mix, bummed about losing key historical opponents, all of the above...?

 145.
USC’s offense was unable to get anything going

South Carolina’s offense went back to its unproductive ways in the second game of the Gainesville Super Regional, as the Gamecocks were blanked 4-0 by Florida to end their season.

 146.
The Gators got on the board early, going up 2-0 in the second inning after BT Riopelle walked and Luke Heyman singled with one out, then later scored on a double by Colby Halter. UF added another run in the fifth, when Wyatt Langford walked with one out and came home on a Josh Rivera single, making it 3-0. The final run of the game came in the eighth, after Riopelle walked to start things off and later scored on a fly out by Halter.

 147.
USC starter Jack Mahoney worked 4.1 innings and allowed four hits and three runs. He also walked four batters, struck out four, and took the loss, making him 7-4. Chris Veach and Eli Jones also pitched in this game. Gators starter Hurston Waldrep went eight innings and gave up three hits and no runs. He issued two walks, struck 13 batters out, and got the win, making him 8-3.

 148.
Will McGillis, Braylen Wimmer, and Ethan Petry each had one hit for the Cocks. Rivera paced Florida with three hits, while Halter tallied three RBI.

 149.
Carolina finishes the season with a record of 41-19, while the Gators are now 45-14.

 168.
 169.
USC lost the lead late and couldn’t quite rally enough

South Carolina got off to a hot start but missed chances to build a big early lead against Florida on Friday night and couldn’t recover from losing the lead, dropping the first game in the Super Regional 5-4.

 170.
The Gamecocks got on the board early, going up 1-0 in the first inning when Will McGillis hit a leadoff homer. Braylen Wimmer followed with a single, Cole Messina knocked a base hit with one out, and Gavin Casas singled with two outs to bring Wimmer in and make it 2-0. The Gators answered in the bottom of the inning, tying the game at 2-2 on a home run by Josh Rivera.

 171.
USC regained the lead in the next inning, after Dylan Brewer singled to start things off and later scored on a base hit by McGillis to make it a 3-2 game. That score held until the fifth, when UF again tied it up again on a solo shot by Tyler Shelnut, making it 3-3. The Gators took the lead for good in the sixth, going up 4-3 when BT Riopelle went yard. Their final run of the game came in the eighth on a single by Shelnut that made it 5-3. The Cocks scored the game’s final run in the ninth on another McGillis homer.

 172.
Carolina starter James Hicks worked five innings and allowed six hits and three runs. He didn’t walk any batters and struck two out. Will Sanders and Nick Proctor combined to go the rest of the way for the Gamecocks, and Sanders took the loss, making him 4-4. Florida starter Brandon Sproat pitched six innings and gave up nine hits and three runs. He also issued two walks and struck out seven batters, and he earned the win and is now 8-3.

 173.
McGillis paced USC at the plate with hits, and he also recorded three RBI. Four Gators had two hits each, while Rivera and Shelnut tallied two RBI apiece.

 174.
The Cocks are now 41-19, while UF is 45-14. They’ll meet again on Saturday, with South Carolina needing to win to stay alive. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. in Gainesville.

Casas followed with a double as well to get LeCroy in and push the score to 5-2, then Braswell knocked a base hit and Will Tippett laid down a sac bunt to bring Casas home and extend the lead to 6-2. Brewer hit a single that got Braswell in and made it a 7-2 game, then Will McGillis went yard to put the Cocks up 9-2. Campbell got a few runs back in the bottom of the inning, when Jordan homered again to make it 9-5.

Braylen Wimmer blasted a solo shot to lead off, pushing the lead to 11-5, then Petry walked, Messina singled, and a ground out by LeCroy got Petry home to make it 12-5. Casas was hit by a pitch, Braswell walked, and a wild pitch allowed Messina to come in and put USC up 13-5. Tippett then hit a sac fly to score Casas and make it a 14-5 game. The Camels scored once in the bottom of the inning, making it 14-6 on a double by Drew Winters.

Campbell’s run in the bottom of the inning came on a Jarrod Belbin fly out and made it a 15-7 game. South Carolina’s final run was scored in the eighth inning, after Wimmer doubled with one out and came in on a two-out base hit by LeCroy.
