49.
The 2024 World Poker Tour Season 22 schedule has traversed the world. In the next month, Asia and North America are on the schedule, with one tournament in Osaka, Japan, and another (arguably more notable) stop by the circuit in one of their familiar stomping grounds. On Friday, the WPT Choctaw will kick off action and is expected to draw a sizeable field for the tournament.

50.
51.
52.
53.
Oklahoma the “Hot Spot” for Poker

54.
55.
56.
57.
The Choctaw Casino & Resort in Durant, OK, will serve as the home base for the U. S. version of a WPT event. Beginning on Friday, the WPT Choctaw Championship will be contested, with a $3500 buy-in event featuring two Day Ones. What will make this tournament is the fact that there is a $2 million guaranteed prize pool, plus the unlimited reentries should a player bust out from either Day 1A or Day 1B.

58.
59.
60.
61.
Day 1A will kick off on Friday at noon, with the players receiving 50K in chips and looking to play through Level 10. Late registration for the event (as well as reentry) will cut off with the start of Level 9 on both Day Ones. This is NOT a “best forward” tournament, meaning that players who take part in Day 1A will either have to be happy with their stack for Day 2 on Sunday, or they will have to sacrifice that stack and take another shot on Day 1B on Saturday with no guarantee of making it through.

62.
63.
64.
65.
For the tournament, the levels will be an hour long, enough time for skillful play to have an effect but rapid enough to force the action. The two-Day Ones will feature ten levels of play, while Day Three will play down to the six-handed WPT final table on Monday. At that point, play will be suspended until May 30, when it will be concluded as a part of the WPT’s Weekend of Champions before the start of the 2024 World Series of Poker.

66.
67.
68.
69.
Strong History of Large Fields

70.
71.
72.
73.
The stop in Choctaw has become a tradition for the World Poker Tour. It started in 2015 when the tour made its first foray into Oklahoma, and the players have always come with their games ready. That first stop in 2015, one of the first events following that year’s WSOP, saw 1175 entries put their money on the line and a final table that featured Jake Schindler, Darren Elias, and Andy Hwang. Topping them all was Jason Brin, who took home his largest-ever poker payday of $682,975 for his efforts.

74.
75.
76.
77.
Since 2015, the WPT Choctaw has continued to have large fields and excellent players. James Mackey, Jay Lee, Brady Holiman, Dapo Ajayi, Chance Kornuth, and defending champion Jared Jaffee have all had their names etched on the Mike Sexton WPT Champions’ Cup and, in every year the WPT Choctaw has been contested, the prize pool for the tournaments cracked the 2024 guarantee of $2 million. Jaffee is expected to be back in the saddle in Oklahoma to defend his championship. Action from the 2024 WPT Choctaw will kick off bright and early (for poker players) at noon on Friday, with complete coverage and a live stream from the WPT.

78.
79.
80.
81.
Can Jaffee come back and go back-to-back (and win his third WPT title)? Or will another notable name – or potential breakthrough star – capture the Mike Sexton WPT Champions’ Cup? Although we will have to wait until the end of May to find out, we will know who the six players in contention are by the end of Monday evening.

105.
Despite falling squarely in a gray area of the law, poker rooms are becoming increasingly popular in Texas, as is evidenced by the inaugural Texas Poker Open that just completed. With that fuzziness, though, can come problems. Recently, poker players have accused Legends Poker Room in Houston of rigging decks in cash games.

106.
107.
108.
109.
The latest comes from poker pro Shaun Deeb, who shared a “pretty disgusting video” of what he says is an example of a “mechanic” dealer who “isn’t actually shuffling the cards,” but rather arranging cards how they want them dealt.

110.
111.
112.
113.
Now, the video certainly isn’t definitive proof of anything. It could just be that the dealer is bad at shuffling. It doesn’t look great, though. In the short video, it appears that the dealer quickly inserted certain cards into the deck and then kept part of the deck from being properly shuffled. After the dealer riffles the two halves of the deck, the halves are never combined.

114.
115.
116.
117.

118.

I got a better quality video I have spoken to a floor person of legends who confirmed multiple dealers were fired for messing with the decks in the past month I am disappointed that no players were caught and the dealers were not prosecuted or outed so they can go do it elsewhere pic.twitter.com/rEOgQ2ly4k
— shaun deeb (@shaundeeb) May 1, 2024

119.

120.
121.
122.
123.
To play devil’s advocate, it doesn’t look like the dealer can see which cards he is arranging – the camera sees them because the cards are facing the player, not the dealer. But then again, those might be cards that were visible when the dealer scooped them up from players’ hands. It’s a very short video that doesn’t show the entire process. But the fact that the dealer never actually slides the two halves of the deck together is very suspicious.

124.
125.
126.
127.
The video in and of itself probably isn’t enough to draw a definitive conclusion. Again, maybe the dealer is just sloppy. But Deeb did say in the post above (the video was not his, by the way), “I have spoken to a floor person of legends who confirmed multiple dealers were fired for messing with the decks in the past month.”

128.
129.
130.
131.
Commenters in Deeb’s video threads said that they have seen problems at Legends in the past. One person said, “Legends is rife with this, and they don’t just setup the hands to make you lose either. They will also set it to make u win when you first sit down to reel you in…”

132.
133.
134.
135.
Many others pointed out telltale moves of a mechanic (a mechanic is simply the term for a dealer who unfairly manipulates the deck). One wrote, “dealer put an ace on top of the deck when bringing in the cards from last hand. they then shuffled the cards but the top card always remained on top. on the 3rd shuffle mistake, had to reshuffle to get the right card on top.. false cut, ace still on top.. small blind gets an A.”

136.
137.
138.
139.
Another: “That’s clearly a pass through shuffle. He’s quite smooth at it too. One of the times he passes through one of the other times he pulls out.”

140.
141.
142.
143.
If the dealer in the video is, in fact, cheating, the next question is if he was doing it on his own or at the direction of management. Regardless, the sheer fact that the shuffling even looks slightly suspicious is very concerning and will hopefully be investigated further.

164.
Before you read this, please be sure you are sitting down. What you are about to learn is so shocking that you might need some time to recover. Researchers from UNLV and the University of New Mexico (UNM) have found that sports bettors are more likely to binge drink than non-gamblers or those who partake in different types of gambling.

165.
166.
167.
168.
I know it’s unbelievable, but researchers surveyed more than 4,000 people and…there you have it. The trend held the same whether or not the sports bettor was male or female.

169.
170.
171.
172.
Joshua Grubbs, an associate professor at UNM and investigator at the Center on Alcohol, Substance use and Addictions, told the Las Vegas Sun what we’re all thinking: that people often drink when they watch sports, so naturally sports bettors might follow the same pattern.

173.
174.
175.
176.
His advice is for sports bettors to “make a plan and stick to it,” when it comes to both gambling and drinking.

177.
178.
179.
180.
“I tell gamblers all the time, ‘Look at your betting history when you’re drinking and not drinking — actually do a test of your own bets.’ And, invariably, what they find is that they make dumber bets when they’re drunk, which is not surprising, right?”

181.
182.
183.
184.
Shane Kraus, UNLV psychology professor and Director of the Behavioral Addictions Lab, said that people should avoid live betting.

185.
186.
187.
188.
“Don’t be four beers in and then suddenly start betting on all the parlays in the game, Kraus advised. “So that’s gonna be, I think, a risk factor…that’s where I think we can tell people, ‘Maybe, use some caution here. If you’re drinking, don’t be betting.’”

189.
190.
191.
192.
Nevada Council on Problem Gambling Executive Director Ted Hartwell said a “co-occurring substance use disorder” is not at all uncommon among those with gambling problems and that “cognitive distortions” often exist among younger gamblers.

193.
194.
195.
196.
“I think a lot of that is tied into the belief that, if I’ve played sports growing up — which lots of us have — it gives me an edge in knowledge of the sport,” he told the Sun. “So all of these things are interconnected, and it’s not surprising that we see, I think, sports betting in particular wrapped up with other types of risky behavior.”

197.
198.
199.
200.
The next step, Kraus said is to figure out if the binge drinking in turn leads to problem gambling.

201.
202.
203.
204.
“And that’s a question, I think, for our community,” he said. “People like having adult beverages and drinking and that’s fine. It’s just how do we make sure, though, people who are really drinking heavily are also not putting themselves at risk for risk-betting — getting … in trouble?”

205.
The post Study Finds Sports Bettors Binge Drink More Than Non-Gamblers appeared first on Poker News Daily.

226.
The inaugural Texas Poker Open Main Event is in the books and the honor of being the tournament’s first-ever winner belongs to Ren Lin, who earned $400,000 for his achievement.

227.
228.
229.
230.
Lin nabbed 400 PokerGO Tour points for the victory, which, when the leader board is updated, should put him just on the outside of the top 20 for this season. It is his third career PokerGO Tour (PGT) title and 38th career cash. Lin now has over $11 million in lifetime live tournament earnings and $5.3 million on the Tour.

231.
232.
233.
234.
Going into Monday’s action, Lin wasn’t in great shape, holding one of the smaller stacks of the 15 players remaining. Yunkyu Song was far and away the chip leader with 11.050 million chips, followed by Miguel Use with 4.750 million. For comparison, Lin had just 1.650 million.

235.
236.
237.
238.
He did double-up early to give himself some breathing room and was then able to pick up an uncontested pot worth millions to climb to 7.750 million chips. Going into the nine-handed final table, Ren Lin was up to second place with 7.550 million chips, still only half of Song’s 15.150 million.

239.
240.
241.
242.
Lin busted players in 7th and 5th place to get up to 11.400 million, but again, Song was still well ahead. Shortly after four-handed play started, Lin made a huge move, picking off Song’s bluff on the river to overtake him for the lead, just barely.

243.
244.
245.
246.
Song regained the lead, but then Lin put the hammer down, out-flopping him with a boat-over-boat to take a massive chip lead. Lin was up to 22.525 million, while Song fell to 7.375 million. Lin eventually made it to over 30 million and looked like he was going to run away with the title, but Daniel Moran proceeded to eliminate Song in 4th place and Jonathan Tamayo in 3rd to go into heads-up play just slightly behind Lin, 20.625 million to 23.475 million.

247.
248.
249.
250.
And then, within minutes, it was all over. Lin raised to 700,000 pre-flop, Moran three-bet to 2.800 million, and Song responded with another raise to 6.500 million. Undaunted, Moran shoved and Lin called. Moran showed pocket Tens, but Lin had pocket Jacks – it’s no wonder they were so eager to get their chips in the pot. Nothing helped Moran and Lin flopped a set for good measure to take down the Texas Poker Open Main Event.

318.
In what seems like just an awful, awful idea and just a cynical money grab, Dave & Buster’s has announced that it will soon offer customers the ability to place bets on games. The restaurant-arcade giant will seemingly get around gambling laws because the wagers will be on “skill” games, not games of chance. Dave & Buster’s will not be the house or operate the gambling in any way.

319.
320.
321.
322.
“Gamification” software company Lucra will provide the betting technology, which will be accessed through the D&B app. The idea is to allow people – adults 18 and over – to bet a few bucks with their friends on, say, who will win a game of Skee-Ball. Obviously, people can make friendly bets with each other without an app, but Dave & Buster’s and Lucra hope that this makes it more fun and encourages people to do it.

323.
324.
325.
326.
“Lucra helps our partners drive user adoption, increase retention and engagement and add new monetization streams to their business,” said Lucra co-founder and CEO Dylan Robbins.

327.
328.
329.
330.
“We’re creating a new form of kind of a digital experience for folks inside of these ecosystems,” added Lucra co-founder and COO Michael Madding. “We’re getting them to engage in a new way and spend more time and money.”

331.
332.
333.
334.
So, once the Lucra functionality is added to the D&B app in the next couple months, you will not only be able to watch your kid blow Power Card credits on Doodle Jump just so they can earn enough tickets to buy candy, but you can also bet your buddy that your boy will hit a certain score.

335.
336.
337.
338.
Social betting apps are not a new thing. Wagr, for instance, launched a few years ago, allowing people to place bets with each other instead of against the house. Bets could be made between friends, facilitated by the app, or even with complete strangers. Wagr was acquired by Yahoo in 2023.

339.
340.
341.
342.
At its most harmless, social betting apps just make wagering among friends easier and potentially more fun if there are other features added. Most of us have bet our college buddy or sister five bucks on the outcome of some event – these apps just provide a central hub for doing that. But inserting it into Dave & Buster’s, a place where kids go with their parents, does feel a bit more sinister. Lucra’s offering is intended only for those 18 and older, so hopefully it stays that way.

364.
All signs point to yes?

365.
366.
367.
368.
No official announcement has been made, but it sounds like WSOP.com might soon be linking players Michigan with those already playing on its shared liquidity platform in Nevada and New Jersey. Though all three states, along with West Virginia and Delaware, are in the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA) and thus can have their players share virtual poker tables, WSOP.com players in Michigan are currently separated from their counterparts in Nevada and New Jersey because they use a different version of the software platform. According to a report from Pokerfuse, this may be changing within the next couple weeks, thus allowing the WSOP.com interstate network to expand from two states to three.

369.
370.
371.
372.
Pokerfuse points to the announcement of the May 11-22 WSOP Online Circuit Series as a major sign of what is to come. The Series was announced for all three states and even had the phrasing “shared liquidity with Nevada and Michigan (as permitted by law).”

373.
374.
375.
376.
It is also assumed that New Jersey is included in that shared liquidity, as well, since it most certainly intermingles its players with Nevada already.

377.
378.
379.
380.
Sign number two is that there is a Mystery Bounty event that is part of the mix and Mystery Bounty tournaments only run on Poker 8, the newest version of the 888-powered software used by WSOP.com. Poker 8 is used in Michigan, but not Nevada and New Jersey, hence why Michigan doesn’t have shared liquidity with the other two states. Thus, the implication is that Nevada and New Jersey will soon transition to Poker 8 and the three states will hold hands in poker harmony.

381.
382.
383.
384.
Other states?

385.
386.
387.
388.
What would be really nice, regardless of whether or not the above comes to pass, would be to get Pennsylvania in on the action. Pennsylvania also has a WSOP.com site, but the Keystone State is not part of MSIGA and thus all of its online poker rooms (it also has PokerStars and BetMGM) are ring-fenced from the other states. A bill to allow the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) to join MSIGA was introduced in March, but has made no progress. One would think the state will eventually get it figured it out, it’s just frustrating for players that it has to take so long.

389.
390.
391.
392.
Delaware used 888’s software for a decade and thus shared tables with Nevada and New Jersey, but it changed its operator to Rush Street Interactive this year is therefore cordoned off from the other states.

393.
394.
395.
396.
Online poker is legal in West Virginia, but no online poker rooms have sprouted there, likely because the market is too small.

420.
Casinos are often known for the varied entertainment options they have. Sometimes they are concerts, but sometimes they are sporting events like boxing or Mixed Martial Arts. In Delaware, that “fight night” attitude spilled over into the casino itself as a fight in a poker room resulted in one of the pugilists being arrested for felony assault.

421.
422.
423.
424.
Bad Things Happen After Midnight

425.
426.
427.
428.
According to the Delaware State Police, officers were called to the Delaware Park Casino at around 2:30 in the morning. The report was about a fight at the poker room but, once they responded to the call, DSP officers didn’t find anything going on. In fact, the alleged combatants – and we are not talking about battling it out on the felt – were back in the poker room and weren’t mixing it up any longer.

429.
430.
431.
432.
The troopers began their investigation and found that one of those involved, Taylor White of Newark, DE, had gotten into a verbal altercation with another player (who was not named). Instead of letting it go there, White allegedly pushed it into a physical confrontation by repeatedly punching the victim in the face.

433.
434.
435.
436.
This was not just a small beatdown, either. The duo continued to duke it out, knocking over a poker table before others stepped in to separate them. Once the police completed their investigations, it became apparent that the victim was injured seriously enough that he was sent to the hospital to check out his damage. White, on the other hand, was arrested for assault in the second degree (a felony in Delaware) and criminal mischief. His bond was set at $10,500 and White appears to have bonded out at this time.

437.
438.
439.
440.
Do You REALLY Want to Fight in a Poker Room?

441.
442.
443.
444.
Yes, poker can be a maddening game. It can drive preachers into Tourette’s levels of verbiage that would make the saltiest sailor blush. But you really must consider a few things as to whether you REALLY want to have a knock-down, drag-out knuckle buster in the middle of a poker room.

445.
446.
447.
448.
It isn’t like you are fighting in a back alley or abandoned warehouse. You are fighting in the middle of a well-lit room, with plenty of security around that is probably more versed in physical combat than you are. Putting this public scrutiny aside, there is also one other thing that you are not going to find on the street – the “eye in the sky” or the surveillance cameras. You can be sure that, in the above situation, they tried to play it off until Five-O got to examine the video footage.

449.
450.
451.
452.
The normal SOP for poker rooms and casinos in a situation like this is to ban the people who were fighting, whether they instigated it or not. Poker rooms and casinos are wont to have physical altercations on their property – it is not good for business, unless it is inside the squared circle or The Octagon. Thus, when there are people who are physically squaring off on their property, the casino (and poker room) is sure to enforce some sort of ban, even if it is for a brief time.

453.
454.
455.
456.
Knowing these things (and utilizing your natural intelligence), you can see that having some sort of physical altercation in a casino or poker room is probably not a clever idea. The moral of the above story is that, even though it may seem like the right thing to do, fighting in a poker room is a bad way to try to settle some differences. How about just stacking the guy (or girl) on the felt?

484.
Yes, we are a month away from the 2024 World Series of Poker. There are probably thousands of poker players, however, who will not be able to make it to Las Vegas for the festivities, especially those outside of the States. PokerStars is looking out for these players in announcing four different tournaments that will rove across the European continent at the close of the WSOP to give all poker players a chance at a “moment in the sun.”

485.
486.
487.
488.
Action Begins in Germany

489.
490.
491.
492.
The Eureka Poker Tour is one of the regional circuits that is sponsored by PokerStars, and they will be the first to add to the storied history of the tour (has been around since 2011). Coming off an exciting stop in 2023, the Eureka Poker Tour will head back to the Casino Schenefeld for the Eureka Hamburg. From July 1-7, the Eureka Poker Tour will hold a €1000 Main Event, along with plenty of side events and cash game action for players to take part in. PokerStars ambassador Felix Schneiders is expected to be in attendance for the series.

493.
494.
495.
496.
The Casino Barcelona has long been a popular stop for the main European Poker Tour schedule, with the EPT Barcelona celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2024. A player who remembers Barcelona well is Lex Veldhuis, who will be bringing his Lex Live festivities to the Spanish city from July 9-15 after visits to both Namur and London. During that six-day run, Veldhuis will play host to a Main Event that is only €400 (plus juice), but there will probably be more fun to be had in the side events and various activities that Veldhuis is organizing for players.

497.
498.
499.
500.
Two more special events will be held to round out the summer schedule. Cyprus’ Merit Crystal Cove Hotel & Casino will play host to the Dolce Vita Series, right before the Grosvenor Casino in Coventry brings its Goliath tournament to England. That Goliath event, with a buy-in of £160, is expected to draw well over 10,000 entries and might challenge the 2023 record of 11,493.

507.
508.
The United Kingdom/Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) and Estrellas Poker Tour (ESPT) will combine for a trip to Malaga in June that should draw those who have not already jetted off for Las Vegas. The UKIPT/ESPT Malaga will feature a Main Event that goes for the low price of €1000; that tournament will be held between June 12-16. The ESPT Malaga Cup, a €500 event, will play out on June 15-16, while the ESPT High Roller will open the festival on June 11-12 with a €2000 buy-in tournament.

509.
510.
511.
512.
All roads will be leading to Barcelona, however, and the 20th Anniversary of the EPT Barcelona. PokerStars is expected to make every effort to impress for this historic achievement (not many poker tournaments make it this far), which plays out from August 26-September 8. Final scheduling is being settled at this time, but there will be something for all on the Mediterranean coast for the EPT Barcelona.

513.
514.
515.
516.
Toss in the UKIPT stops in London and Nottingham later this year, the France Poker Series beginning next week, and the EPT Monte Carlo getting started next week, there should be plenty of poker action to keep those European players who could not make it to the U. S. busy despite missing the WSOP.

553.
With the end of the 2024 U. S. Poker Open last week, the 2024 PokerGO Tour season seemed to be at a good point to examine the standings. After a couple of tournament series off because they were not his games (Omaha and the Mixed Game series), David Coleman dropped out of the lead in the race for the top slot in the Overall Championship. The 2024 USPO turned out to be just the tonic that Coleman needed, however, to get himself back into the top slot on the PGT Overall Championship leaderboard.

555.
556.
557.
Ho Hum…Another Win

558.
559.
560.
561.
Coleman has been the player that has lit up the scoreboard over the first four months of this year. He had won three tournaments to surge out to the lead, then had to sit down for a spell during the PGT’s Mixed Game Series and the PLO Series in March. With the switch to April, and the return of the USPO, Coleman could get back into the fray.

562.
563.
564.
565.
He did not waste the opportunity. During the run of the USPO, Coleman won Event #4 for slightly more than $202,000. More important was the fact that Coleman garnered 322 points during the USPO (three cashes) and was able to pull back into the lead of the PGT Overall Championship race. Those 322 points allowed him to bypass a couple of players who surged up the standings with their work.

566.
567.
568.
569.
One of those players was the eventual USPO Overall Champion, Aram Zobian. Zobian picked up the “big bird,” the Golden Eagle Trophy, while simultaneously winning Event #6, a $15,000 buy-in event, to push his total earnings to just under $1 million for the year on the PGT. It also pushed him up to third overall in the race.

570.
571.
572.
573.
The other major mover after the USPO was its Main Event champion, Stephen Chidwick. Chidwick banked the $25,000 Championship Event for the USPO to earn $429,000. That and the remainder of Chidwick’s performance during the USPO (427 points) pushed him into the Top Ten, where he should be a threat for the remainder of the PGT season.

574.
575.
576.
577.
Here are the Top Ten currently on the PGT Overall Championship leaderboard:

1. David Coleman, 1259 points (four wins)
2. Dylan Weisman, 1126 (three wins)
3. Aram Zobian, 1048 (one win)
4. Daniel Negreanu, 896 (one win)
5. Samuli Sipila, 749 (two wins)
6. Stephen Chidwick, 711 (one win)
7. Kristen Foxen, 678 (one win)
8. Jesse Lonis, 634 (one win)
9. Jonathan Little, 591 (two wins)
10. Seth Davies, 590 (one win)

580.
581.
Positioning for Season-Ending PGT Championship

582.
583.
584.
585.
All the tournaments that make up the PGT season are earning these players points toward the season-ending PGT Championship. That tournament is an invitation-only event, with the Top 40 players on the PGT Overall Championship Leaderboard being invited to play in the tournament. The PGT Championship has a million-dollar prize pool, with the eventual champion not only earning the PGT Championship but also $500,000.

586.
587.
588.
589.
Currently, there are notable names that are trying to stay on the board – and, on the other end of the spectrum, other notables looking to eke their way in. In Positions 35-40 are such players as Victoria Livschitz, Alex Livingston, Daniel Smiljkovic, Jerry Wong, Dylan DeStefano, and Bruno Furth. Right now on the outside looking in from Positions 41-45 are players such as John Riordan, Joao Simao, Lautaro Guerra, John Racener, and Nick Schulman.

590.
591.
592.
593.
The next few months will be critical for all the players who find themselves in contention for one of those forty seats. The inaugural Texas Poker Open at Champions Club in Houston is hosting five events that will count toward the standings. Following the close of those festivities, the 2024 World Series of Poker kicks off with 28 total PGT-points tournaments and the ARIA High Roller Series. By the time we reach the end of the 2024 WSOP, we may have an entirely different look to this leaderboard.

616.
The 2024 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Championship is down to just six players. Leading the final table is Dylan Smith, who bagged up 28.400 million chips at the end of Tuesday night. The chip leader going into the past two days, Josh Reichard, is second with 20.575 million chips.

617.
618.
619.
620.
There is quite a gap between Reichard and the rest of the final table. Aaron Kulpin is the short stack with 4.925 million chips, but the rest of the pack is bunched up. Landon Tice has 13.700 million, Alex Queen has 13.450 million, and Jesse Lonis has 12.350 million chips.

621.
622.
623.
624.
Smith began Day 4 with about 5 million chips and used some big hands to grow his stack by huge chunks.

625.
626.
627.
628.
One such hand came with 15 players remaining. Jackob Datashvili raised to 250,000 pre-flop and Smith called. On the Qh-7s-5s flop, Datashvili bet 275,000 and Smith once again made the call. With the 9c on the turn, Datashvili bet 1.100 million, prompting another call from Smith, albeit with much pondering. After using two time bank chips, Datashvili moved all-in for 4 million when the 6d came on the river. This time, Smith made a fast call.

629.
630.
631.
632.
It was good luck turned bad for Datashvili. He had pocket Sevens for a flopped set, but Smith held Queens for a better flopped set. Datashvili was out in 15th place and Smith was up to 11.700 million chips.

633.
634.
635.
636.
Right after that, he forced a fold by Reichard on the river by going all-in to claim a pot of over 3 million chips and overtake Reichard for the chip lead.

637.
638.
639.
640.
In another leap, Alex Queen, who was second in chips going into the day, raised to 400,000 pre-flop. Smith re-raised to 1.400 million and Queen called. An all-red flop of 6h-2h-5d prompted Smith to bet 800,000 which Queen called. Smith then went big with a 4 million-chip bet when the 5c came down on the turn and Queen called again. The 7h was dealt on the river and Smith shoved, having Queen covered. Queen eventually folded to drop to 9.500 million chips, while Smith climbed to 26.500 million, not far from where he currently sits.

641.
642.
643.
644.
The tournament is now paused. It will resume on May 29th at the televised final table in Las Vegas.
