50.
Rounding out the Razorbacks to watch out for at the plate is Hudson White as, thus far in conference action, he has posted a .268 batting average, .349 on-base percentage and a .304 slugging percentage.

 51.
Arkansas will lean on Stovall’s team-leading production, Sparague-Lott’s slugging ability and White’s season-long consistency to lead its offensive attack.

 52.
Looking at the home Wildcats, Ryan Waldschmidt leads the team with a .422 batting average and a .524 on-base percentage in conference action. Waldschmidt has also posted a .723 slugging percentage in conference play.

 53.
The power for the Bat Cats has come from Ryan Nicholson, who has posted a team-leading .857 slugging percentage while also hitting to a .364 batting average and a .467 on-base percentage in conference action.

 54.
Rounding the Wildcats’ offensive players to watch is Nolan McCarthy, who has been on an extended hot streak during conference play, posting a .361 batting average, .398 on-base percentage and a .675 slugging percentage.

 55.
The Wildcats will look to Waldschmidt’s consistency, Nicholson’s power and McCarthy’s conference hot streak to guide their offensive attack at home.

 56.
Pitching matchups

 57.
Every game one thus far, the Razorbacks have sent Hagen Smith to the mound and he has developed into not only one of the premier arms in the SEC, but also in the entire country.

 58.
During conference play, Smith has pitched to an SEC-leading 1.05 ERA while also leading the conference in strikeouts at 71 and earned runs as he has only surrendered five across 43 innings pitched in seven conference starts.

 59.

Kentucky pitcher Dominic Niman pitches during the Kentucky vs Tennessee baseball game on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Kentucky Proud Park in Lexington, Kentucky. 60.
On Friday the Wildcats will also be sending statistically their best starter to the hill in Trey Pooser, who leads Wildcat starters with a 3.28 ERA, 35.2 innings pitched, 13 earned runs and 33 strikeouts in his six conference starts.

 61.
In game two, it appears the Razorbacks will send Brady Tygart to the mound and he has posted a 3.74 ERA in his seven starts as he has given up 14 earned runs in his 33.2 innings pitched and also struck out 36 batters.

 62.
Game twos for the Wildcats have belonged to Dominic Niman, who has posted a 5.14 ERA in 35 innings in which he has given up 20 earned runs and struck out 32 batters.

 63.
In the series finale it appears Arkansas will be sending Mason Molina to the hill as he has posted a 3.41 ERA and has surrendered 11 earned runs in 29 innings pitched and has also struck out 35 batters in his conference starts.

 64.
Series finales for the Wildcats have belonged to Mason Moore, who has pitched to 6.94 ERA as he’s given up 27 earned runs in 35 innings pitched while also striking out 30 batters.

 86.
In the 2024 Division-I Men’s Tennis Championship, 64 teams will compete to win a national title.

 88.
When it comes to national tournaments, upsets, crazy moments and unexpected hot streaks are common.

 89.
However, what if the Kentucky Wildcats stand in the way of one of these Cinderella teams? Kentucky isn’t looking for an unexpected hot streak, it’s just expecting to stay red hot.

 90.
No. 5 Kentucky was selected as a host site for rounds one and two of the tournament and are looking to make the trip to Stillwater, Oklahoma, for a deep run.

 91.
The Wildcats are coming off of a SEC Championship win and have won 17 matches in a row.

 92.
It’s fair to say, with a 24-2 overall record, that the Cats don’t lose very often.

 93.
Kentucky will host its first two matches in Lexington, where it has lost only once at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex, dating back to Saturday, Jan. 27.

 94.
The Cats have played 15 opponents ranked in the top 60 in a row, not only cementing how impressive it was that they didn’t lose one match during this stint, but that they play in one of the most competitive conferences in Division-I tennis.

 95.
They are nearly at the top of the mountain of success, scaling toward Stillwater in hopes of bringing the University of Kentucky a national title.

 96.
As Kentucky prepares for its first match of the tournament, here are the anticipated threats to the Wildcats.

 97.
Gibson: The Bigger Picture

 98.
Illinois poses the biggest threat in Kentucky’s quarter as the team once sat comfortably in ITA top 25, but missing key player Karlis Ozolins has significantly hindered the team.

 99.
Kentucky should, in theory, be a lock for its quarter of the bracket, but don’t be surprised if it isn’t playing No. 12 Harvard in the Super Regionals.

 100.

Kentucky fifth year Taha Baadi celebrates during the Kentucky vs Notre Dame mens tennis match on Friday, Jan. 26, 2024, at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Center in Lexington, Kentucky. Kentucky won 4-0. Photo by Sydney Yonker | Staff (Sydney Yonker)

 101.
Harvard has a deep roster overall, having seen five singles players see action on all six courts this season, but Denver is also in Harvard’s quarter and is undefeated, sitting at 23-0 with anchors on courts one and two for singles play.

 102.
If the Wildcats make it to the quarterfinals, they’re most likely to see No. 13 Duke, No. 4 TCU or unranked Alabama.

 103.
Kentucky’s only losses on the season came on the road at Duke and at home to Alabama. The Wildcat’s managed to get revenge over the Tide during regular season conference play, so the question stands: will it get the chance to do the same to Duke?

 104.
TCU and Kentucky have some recent history as well, with the Horned Frogs knocking the Wildcats out of ITA National Indoors in 2022 and 2023. Led by No. 7 singles player Jake Fearnly, the Horned Frogs are 22-4 this season but have struggled with the nation’s top talents with losses to Texas and Ohio State.

 105.
Unfortunately for the Wildcats, to make it to the national championship they might have to go through the No. 1 team in the nation: Ohio State.

 106.
Unless the top teams in the Buckeyes region, No. 8 Columbia or No. 9 Arizona, take down Ohio State, fans are likely to see Kentucky face the top team in the nation with a near perfect record (30-1) if the Wildcats are going to make a championship push.

 107.
The road to the National Championship and Stillwater will begin on Friday, May 3, where Kentucky will take on DePaul at 4 p.m. ET. Kentucky will play at 4 p.m. again on Saturday if it wins versus the winner of Toledo and Illinois.

 420.

No. 22 Kentucky softball ( 30-18, 8-13 SEC) lost two out of three games to the unranked South Carolina Gamecocks (32-18, 8-13 SEC) in its final home series of the season.

 421.
The Wildcats struggled mightily in terms of hitting the ball all series, and it showed as they recorded just five hits in games one and three, and seven hits in game two, almost exclusively in the sixth inning.

 422.
Game one would see the Gamecocks get off to a hot start, going up 1-0 in the first inning, followed by three more runs in the second inning.

 423.
The Wildcats, having their backs against the wall, responded in the third as Erin Coffel advanced home off a fielding error by South Carolina.

 424.
After another run by South Carolina in the fourth, the Cats’ hitting woes continued, failing to score again until the seventh inning, where Jaden Vickers grounded out to send Peyton Plotts home. Kentucky would go on to lose the game 5-2.

 425.
Game two was much of the same for Kentucky, as it once again trailed to start the game, falling behind 1-0 in the top of the second inning.

 426.
Both teams from this point forward were held scoreless until the sixth inning and that’s when the momentum began to rapidly shift.

 427.
The Wildcats had numerous points in the game where they looked like they were about to finally erupt until Grace Lorsung hit a double to start the sixth inning.

 428.
The rest of the team would follow as Kentucky began to go nuclear, with Lorsung being sent home off of a fielding error on a grounder by Vickers.

 429.
A double by Vanessa Nesby would then send Vickers home, giving the Cats the lead.

 430.
Kentucky would extend its lead to 3-1 after Nesby was sent home from a triple to right center field by Riley Smith that was mere inches shy of being a home run.

 431.
“I actually felt no pressure because we were winning, and I just already knew what I was going to do,” Smith said.

 432.
Stephanie Schoonover would ice the game in the seventh, completing the comeback victory 3-1.

 433.
The third and final game of the series was now a winner take all, and South Carolina would quickly strike first with two home runs in the first inning, taking the lead 2-0.

 434.
Kentucky was never able to recover from the initial onslaught, as its hitting woes continued, leading to a 3-0 defeat.

 435.
Despite the loss, coach Rachel Lawson had nothing but praise for the seniors on the team who just played their last ever home games.

 436.
“Four 30-win seasons in a row and we’re not the committee, but we believe we’re on track to go to another postseason. They’ve done it every time they’ve been in Lexington,” Lawson said. “To be able to hold the line like that during such a change in college athletics has been huge for the Wildcats.”

 437.
Kentucky will travel to Knoxville, Tennessee, on Thursday, May 2, where it will begin its final series of the regular season against No. 3 Tennessee, beginning at 7 p.m. ET at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.
