144.

The Client

 145. Mariana Peña is a learning design expert who helps busy service providers repackage their knowledge into digital products, group programmes and courses.
 146.
 147. Mariana was happily celebrating all-booked-out months for her premium 1:1 services. But she couldn’t shake off this one thought: without a team to help, how could she possibly tidy up the backend of her business before the growing pains caught up with her?
 148.
 149. So she set aside a couple of hours every week to research standard processes and popular tools that could help scale her business sustainably.

 150.

 151.

The Challenge

 152.

 153.

 154.
“But without a solid background in online business admin, I soon realized creating systems isn’t my forte. And, though I’m a quick learner, I wasn’t willing to pour my time and energy into understanding concepts that would never be a core offering in my business.

 155.
So I thought – how can I make my processes simple enough that I can still handle them on my own and comprehensive enough so I can deliver a stellar client experience?”

 156.

 157.

 158.
Before Mariana could get over this hump, another challenge cropped up.

 159.
Mariana’s services are designed to cultivate close relationships with her clients, and she loves staying in touch with them well after the services are delivered.

 160.
But as her business grew, so did her roster of former clients and business connections. And she was struggling to keep up.

 161.

 162.

 163.
“My intimate circle keeps me in mind and refers me constantly. I love keeping them in the loop, but it can be time consuming. I needed an efficient way to nurture my connections, without automating everything or making the outreach feel perfunctory.”

 164.

 165.

 166.
Overall, it came down to solving two pieces of the puzzle for Mariana:

 167.

 168.
Organizing the backend of her business so she could easily increase the number of clients she serves, while rocking it solopreneur style (for now)

 169.
Creating an efficient process to keep her clients (and business connections) in the loop once the first round of service is done, without losing that personal touch

 170.

 171.

 172.

 173.
“Paty knows there’s more than one way to organize your business and that’s what I love about her”

 175.

The journey

 176.

 177.

 178.
Designed to give my clients the maximum ROI on their time, the Map to Success VIP Intensive is based on my signature 5-step framework: data collection, deep dive, gap analysis, problem solving, and solution plan.

 179.
After Mariana signed up for the Intensive, we kicked off with a pre-work questionnaire that covered everything she wanted to achieve in her business and her personal life.

 180.
Next, armed with her responses, I switched to research mode and emerged with the process foundations outlined for our first 60-minute deep dive call.

 181.

 182.

 183.
“I really appreciated Paty asking questions about both my lifestyle and my business. While lengthy questionnaires can put some people off, I loved it and here’s why – Paty had half the processes mapped out for our first session.
Normally, an OBM would take 60-90 days to figure out what’s going on in your business, strategize, and implement a system. But Paty’s process is incredibly efficient!”

 184.

 185.

 187.

 188.
With a clearer picture of her goals after our first call, I went back to the drawing board. The objective was to identify missing strategies, tools, and practices and then create an aligned business ecosystem for Mariana.

 189.
Once the action plan was completely mapped out, it was time to help Mariana execute it.

 190.
On our second call, we discussed the entire process map and reviewed her existing business tools to check if anything could be replaced or eliminated for maximum day-to-day ease in her business. We also had plenty of time left for a Q&A sprint.

 191.

 192.

 194.

 195.
“We went really deep, but Paty made sure I wasn’t overwhelmed at any point. Process discussions can scare people, so she eased me into it.”

 196.

 197.

 198.
Finally, with the strategy in place, I shared checklists with Mariana so she could effectively bridge the gap between planning and implementation.

 199.

 200.

 201.
“Paty’s action-packed Intensive with clearly defined outcomes was exactly what I needed”

 281.
“The business model we had wasn’t scalable or sustainable, and of course – doing everything alone was time consuming and exhausting.”

 282.

 283.

 284.

 285.
Tracy loves working with her brilliant clients, and she’s inspired by them everyday. Solving complex problems they face when it comes to both systemic and self-limiting barriers lights her up.

 286.
However, holding space for their growth started to take an emotional and energetic toll on Tracy.

 287.
Besides, keeping up with a rapidly evolving business, while doing #allthethings wasn’t getting any easier.

 288.

 289.

 290.
“We serve both B2B and B2C audiences – progressive organizations and women who want to make power moves in their career. And before meeting Paty, I was handling all aspects of the business: admin, marketing, delivery, sales – you name it.

 291.
Everything became a little intense, you know?”

 292.

 293.
Tracy realized that her company BossmakeHer™ was at that stretchy (and exciting) point where they needed to shift their business model from 1:1 to 1:many.

 294.
A couple of things supported this decision:

 295.

 296.
She already had a repeatable framework that got results for her 1:1 clients

 297.
By creating a group program, she could make her pricing accessible, while still ensuring a high level of revenue for BossmakeHer™.

 298.

 299.

 300.
Tracy tried to package up her 1:1 framework into an MVP to launch quickly, however, all the moving pieces – outlining the program, choosing and setting up the right tech, designing the customer experience – held her back.

 301.

 302.

 303.
“The good news was the methodology was adaptable. The bad news? It was all too much for me to handle. Even with a VA – whom you’d have to train and teach anyway.”

 304.

 305.
That’s when Tracy realized she needed a high-level strategic partner who could organize her thoughts, give her clarity on the next steps, and help her launch the program – sooner rather than later.

 306.

 307.

 308.

 309.
“In the next few weeks, I interviewed a lot of strategists, but none of them felt right for my business. Some of them were process heavy or needed a lot of info – nothing wrong with that, but that’s not how I work.

 310.
I chose to partner with Paty because she seems to have a really cool blend of ease and flow and advanced knowledge of tech. There’s a sense of calm about her that really compliments my personality.”

 311.

 312.

The journey

 313.

 314.

 315.
Organizing and aligning Tracy’s ideas with her company’s goals, while creating systems that supported her vision

 316.
Tracy had a great sense of what worked for her clients and in which order.

 317.
So the first step was to structure the program and lay out the specifics including: the content and sequence of the videos, relevant homework and resources to support each milestone, how to keep them engaged with the content, etc.

 318.

 319.

 320.
“Paty pulled every little detail out of me and created a roadmap. The way she approached it, I knew she had done this many times before.

 321.
Paty knew exactly what she needed and she helped me organize my thoughts around it.”

 322.

 323.
The next step was to design a high-touch customer experience, while giving Tracy back her time and brainspace.

 324.
This involved mapping out the onboarding process, the cadence for the check in and update emails, designing a comprehensive welcome packet, as well as selecting and setting up the right tech for evergreen enrollment.

 325.

 326.

 327.
“These were all Paty’s ideas. The way she set it up.. it was automated – yet so high-touch. Everyone got a welcome packet to review and at regular intervals they received emails asking for updates and homework.

 328.
It was amazing to see how my clients interacted with this kind of communication. I never thought this level of personalization was possible!”

 329.

 330.
Since this was a beta launch, the marketing was mostly organic. Tracy is active on LinkedIn, and we shared the offer with her warmed up audience on the platform as well as her email list – and it worked!

 331.
Currently, we’re in the process of refining the program and setting up comprehensive funnels to meet her goal of enrolling 10-20 people per month in the program – a major shift from working with only 5 private clients 1:1.

 332.

 333.

 334.
“Paty has a cool sense of every aspect of a launch from high-level strategy, to marketing, to advanced tech builds.

 335.
It’s amazing how she can be front-facing (She was my Program Manager and engaged with the clients when they needed help) as well as so knowledgeable about the backend of a business.

 336.
We had a number of tech issues to sort out to make the experience seamless for our clients, and Paty was up for the challenge every time because her knowledge is platform agnostic.”

 337.

 338.

The Impact

 339.

 340.

 341.
“By organizing the chaos and laying it out like a true game plan, we just left $10k months along the side of the road.”

 342.

 343.

 344.
The launch catalyzed a key shift in Tracy’s belief: that it was possible to scale her business – earn more money and serve more people – without doing more.

 345.
And, having someone handle the strategy + execution was as much about staying in her zone of genius as defining and defending her boundaries.

 346.

 347.

 348.
“I got really uncomfortable with the perceived kind of silence – you know, from talking to my clients every day to meeting them only once a week. Initially, it felt weird to shift to this model – and I kept thinking ‘Are they getting value?’

 349.
But then I attended the calls and everything was working. They were thriving!”

 350.

 351.
In her own words, Tracy has a “bias for action,” and she needed a partner who could match the momentum of her visionary ideas and execute on them: I was honored to support her.

 352.
Phase 1 of her launch involved conceptualizing and launching a minimum viable product (MVP).

 353.
The MVP version had fewer students – and 4 integration calls per month was enough to guide them through the process.

 354.
However, over the past 6 months we’ve been enrolling clients consistently, with most of them opting for the VIP tier ($7000 value). In the meantime, we also gathered feedback about their experience in the container.

 355.
That’s why we in Phase 2 (rolled out in June 2022), we focused on maximizing the value her thriving evergreen community can get from the program by including 6 calls per month:

 356.

 357.
2 weekly coaching calls (led by Tracy)

 358.
1 weekly networking call

 359.
1 monthly community (led by Tracy)

 360.
1 monthly guest expert session

 361.
1 monthly mindset session

 362.

 363.
This helped Tracy strike the perfect balance between scalability, profitability, and quality.

 364.

 365.

 366.
“A launch is complex right? And yes, there were curveballs – followed by tears. Paty stayed calm and held space for me without any judgment when I was freaking out.

 367.
She’s the kind of person who can walk into any situation, be agile, and get a handle on it.

 368.
A creative, visionary mind has so much to share, but it can be difficult to figure out how to deliver it. And it was such a relief that I could finally share my program with the world – exactly the way I had envisioned it.”

 397.
How to grow my online business is a question that does not leave a business owners mind.

 398.
Growing a business nowadays seems easy but it is not.

 399.
We are in the era of information and truth is, too much information is overwhelming and can do more harm than good.

 400.
We are constantly being pointed in different directions with many experts telling us “do this one thing and you’ll be successful”, showing their “success” or sharing how many figures they’ve made.

 401.
You probably did just like me and gave it a shot on one of those things but didn’t quite work out for you.

 402.
I know I’ve been there but finally decided to focus on my unique gift and do what I’m good at.. So, hear me out!

 403.
I’m NOT going to give you ONE solution.
404. I’ll give you key market information and actionable steps, so you can decide what is best for you!

 405.
I’ve created this guide after doing A LOT of research and checking out all the business trends for 2022.

 406.
My purpose here is to make your life easier and save you time, by presenting you with a summary of the top trends so you can up your business game in 2022 and make smarter decisions.

 407.
I want you to ditch the one-size-fits-all experts and start creating a custom strategy that will be effective for you and help you thrive.

 408.
I do believe is that every business is unique and with the right information and strategic planning, you can achieve great things.

 409.
Let’s get to the list and not waste any more time, shall we?

 410.

 411.

1. Make your online business services “shoppable” anywhere

 413.
If you are not making money, you don’t have a business!

 414.
So starting with the $$$ the first trend in 2022 is “shoppable” content.

 415.
According to google e-commerce sales has grown 30% last year and in 2022 people are looking for new ways to buy.

 416.
Shopping from social media, your TV, YouTube and while navigating through the content you love will be more real than ever.

 417.
The key here is making it easy to the customer and you can do that as a service provider as well.

 418.
ACTION: Setting your own e-commerce platform to sell your services, courses, templates or other will allow you to link your services on social media and take advantage of this growing trend but don’t forget to have an engaging content and tell a story – nobody likes to feel they are being sold to and that is not changing!

 420.

2. Double down on Customer Experience

 421.

 422.
Another trend which is directly connected to the one above is Customer Experience!

 423.
Making it easy and delightful to your customers is on the spotlight. Creating ways for your clients or potential clients to connect with you before or after they make a purchase is crucial. We live in an instant communication era and that should be applied to your business as well (but strategically)

 424.
You can do that by applying an Omnichannel strategy to your business, using chatbots and other communication apps to make sure you are in touch with your clients and always caring for them.

 433.
You don’t need to be in front of the camera to explore video marketing and to create video content, however if you are comfortable putting your face out there, it is the easiest way.

 434.
If you thought creating social media posts and graphics are very time-consuming, having a good video strategy and executing on it is even more.

 435.
It will be an investment to explore storytelling through video and to use it as part of you content strategy, but video is not going anywhere so you may want to consider putting some budget and time aside to consider this option.

 436.
Another trend is video selling!

 437.
Having a video on your sales page, thank you page and even sending videos to your leads via DMs, e-mails or other communication channels has proven successful.

 497.

 498.

 499.
One of the most important parts of the coaching process is goal setting. Without it, clients have nothing concrete to work towards. Setting a specific goal (or several) allows someone to identify what’s important to them, make choices, and take control of how they will spend their time and effort. Once you’ve coached your client on how to set their goals, you can start developing a strategic plan to achieve them. But how do you set goals in the first place? Let’s take a deep dive into effective goal setting in coaching by assessing the most important goal-setting tools.

 500.

 501.

1. Identify the Type of Goal

 502.

 503.
Each goal requires effort and motivation, and clients can only summon these up when they tap into their deepest desires, greatest dreams, and highest aspirations. While you can make suggestions, you should never set a goal for your client. Instead, you want to guide them to come up with goals that are meaningful to them.

 504.
Not everything is in your client’s control; therefore, different goal types can help them understand where potential failures may come from. That way, if something doesn’t work out in the future, they won’t default to blaming themselves. So, before anything else, help your client figure out which of the following types of goals they want to achieve.

 505.

 506.

 507.
Dream Goal – A dream goal serves as someone’s North Star, the very thing that inspires them to work hard every day and carry on when the going gets tough. It’s the vision of their desired future, which makes their efforts worthwhile.

 508.
End Goal – End goals maintain a client’s enthusiasm and are what they ultimately hope to achieve. An end goal is something attainable that may not be 100% in their control, i.e., landing a specific job that someone else could be hired for instead.

 509.
Performance Goal – Clients are fully in control of the performance goal, which stands for the level of performance required to achieve their end goal. Achieving it may require smaller goals that help inch them closer to their desired level of performance.

 510.
Process or Work Goals –The process/work goal ensures that the client does what is necessary to achieve their end goal. It compels them to be honest and introspective, assess their level of commitment, and be truthful about how much they are willing to invest to reach their performance goals.

 511.

 512.

 513.

2. Follow the SMART Goals Strategy

 514.

 515.
SMART is an acronym that can help you set goals optimally and efficiently. The individual letters stand for specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-bound.

 516.

 517.
Specific – Identify a clear, specific outcome or event that you aim to achieve

 518.
Measurable –Measurable goals and their benefits should be quantifiable

 519.
Achievable – Given appropriate resources, the goal should be achievable

 520.
Realistic – While setting high goals can act as a motivator, each goal must have a realistic likelihood of success

 521.
Time-bound –Set a date or time period in which you will achieve the goal

 522.

 523.
First used in 1981 by George T. Doran in the November issue of the Management Review, the term is now widely known among project management, employee performance, and personal development circles. The advantage of SMART is that it provides users with a clear roadmap for identifying and developing their goals. At the same time, coaches have defined criteria to evaluate their clients’ progress.

 524.

 525.

3. Break Your Goals Down

 526.

 527.
Another important aspect of setting goals is deciding whether you are going for short-term or long-term goals. While long-term goals are usually bigger and provide purpose and direction, they are composed of smaller short-term goals. Each short-term goal serves as a stepping stone towards that one big end goal. Short-term goals also allow your ultimate objective to appear less daunting and more attainable.

 528.
For example, if your client wanted to lose 100 lbs, you would break that one big end goal into smaller, more manageable short-term goals. You would set a target for your client to lose 5 or 10lbs at a time and create an action plan that involves small lifestyle changes like walking more, avoiding processed food and soda, and creating a proper sleep routine. Each small-term goal achieved will eventually lead to that one central, long-term objective of losing 100 lbs.

 529.

 530.

4. Set Challenging Goals

 531.

 532.

 533.
“The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it.” –Michelangelo

 534.
While it’s important to identify the type of goal, use the SMART framework, and differentiate between long-term and short-term objectives, it’s equally important to set challenging goals. This helps motivate people to put their best effort forward and increase their performance. In fact, the more difficult a goal, the more effort someone will put in to reach it. In addition, achieving challenging goals is much more rewarding than reaching easy ones.

 535.
Whenever a goal is too easy or hard, it will impede motivation and decrease performance. The perfect goal is properly balanced, meaning it’s challenging enough to inspire hard work yet realistic enough to be attainable. Having a challenging goal helps bring out the highest level of motivation in a client — you just have to ensure your client can achieve it.

 536.

 537.

5. Write Down Your Goals

 538.

 539.
According to a study by Dr. Gail Matthews, a psychology professor at the Dominican University of California, writing down goals is crucial to achieving them. Dr. Matthews took a group of men and women, aged 23 to 72, from around the world and with different professions. These study participants were entrepreneurs, artists, health care professionals, educators, lawyers, and bankers. She divided them into two groups: those who wrote down their goals and those who didn’t.

 540.
The study found that those who wrote down their goals achieved their objectives at a significantly higher level than those who didn’t. She calculated that writing down your goals daily makes you 42% more likely to achieve them.

 541.
One way to do this is to encourage your client to write down their goals on post-its and put them up on mirrors, in their bedroom, or in their kitchen. Work-related goals can be posted next to their computer on their desks in the office. As long as they are visible on the daily, your client will be regularly reminded of what they set out to achieve.

 542.

 543.

6. Develop a Plan

 544.

 545.
Goal setting is only one part of the equation. Another one is developing a plan to achieve the set objectives. A good start is to identify actionable steps your client needs to implement on a daily. This can help them stay on track and can make evaluating their progress easier for you. Each actionable step will have a different level of difficulty. Encourage your client to start with what comes easiest to them and work their way towards more challenging steps. The most important part here is to simply get started.

 546.

 547.

7. Evaluate

 548.

 549.
Tracking progress requires evaluation. Once your client has identified their goals, broken and written them down, and developed a plan (with your help), you should decide on a regular time to meet to evaluate their goal-setting performance.

 550.
Whether you meet weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly, what’s important is that you reflect on your client’s journey toward their goal, ask how they’re doing, and check whether their progress is on schedule and whether anything needs to be changed. Clients will quickly realize whether what they’ve set out to do is too easy, too challenging, or just right for them. Plans can always be altered, as long as they help your client stay motivated to put in the effort necessary to achieve their dreams and desires.

 551.

 552.

Takeaway

 553.

 554.
One of your tasks as a personal development or life coach is to teach your clients how to set goals. Goal coaching is all about helping your client achieve what they want with professional guidance and support. By teaching them to identify the type of goal they aim for, by using the SMART goals strategy and defining one big long-term objective, broken up into smaller short-term stepping stones, your client is off to a good start.

 555.
Ensure that their goals are challenging enough to keep them motivated yet realistic enough to be attainable, and encourage them to write down their goals to increase their chances of success. All that’s left for you to do is to develop a plan with your client and evaluate their progress to ensure they stay on track and ultimately achieve their goal.

 579.
Once you get into the online space you quickly get caught up (and trapped) with all these entrepreneurs claiming they’ve built 6 figure business and they keep scaling it and making it sound like it was super easy.

 580.
“I’ve scaled a 6-figure business in 6 months”

 581.
“I’ve triple my revenue without a team”

 584.
All those messages makes you think that is what you should aim for, anything less than that means you are failing, and all of the sudden you’ve added a next level of pressure to a process that is already hard, which is building a business!

 585.
And then we start to see..

 586.
“I’ve a 6-figure business and only work 3 days a week”

 587.
“I’ve scaled my business working part time”

 588.
“Grow your business working 4h a week”

 589.
And again, you set yourself another “crazy” goal and unconsciously you start to believe having a successful business online means working very few hours while making 6+ figures a month.

 590.
But here you are, starting your business or maybe just a few years down the road, and your idea of success if to have a business that takes 10+ years to build (but you want it done on your second year otherwise you are failing)

 593.
Why being a solopreneur can be dangerous ?

 596.
Being a solopreneur (or self-employed) and running a business are two VERY different things.

 597.
When you are self-employed you CAN NOT stop working, because if you do you run out of business. It is that simple!

 598.
But something as simple as that seems to have been forgotten online.

 599.
I see a lot of coaches and online experts teaching you to build businesses where you are 100% the delivery person of your business and while you can make good money, it doesn’t mean is sustainable and something you can do on the long-run.

 600.
As a service provider, I’m on that trap myself but the difference is I’m aware of that trap and while I’m making money now as a solopreneur, I’m re-investing and building a business that will be sustainable in the long run.

 601.
Let’s illustrate this a bit more take a look at a few solopreneur traps:

 602.

 603.

 604.
#1 The Coach

 605.

606. Offers: 1:1, Events, Group Coaching and Mastermind

 607.
Team: 1 VA

 608.
Revenue: +6 Figures

 609.
The reality:

 610.
Coach has quite a few high-ticket programs and has built a good audience, which makes it easier for her/him to sell the high-ticket offer and be a 6 figure business.

 611.
The entire delivery of her/his offers are owned by her/his. If she/he is not around, the calls needs to be cancelled and/or rescheduled, any vacation time needs to be added within the programs curriculum because the coach won’t be available to support the clients at that time.

 612.
If something happens to this coach or she/he decide to take a longer vacation, the business has to be put on pause because the service can not be delivered if she/he is not around.

 613.

 614.

If your service can not be delivered when you are not around, you don’t have a sustainable business!

 615.

 616.

#2 The VIP Day Service Provider

 617.

 618.

 619.
Offer: VIP Day Build Out

 620.
Team: 1 VA

 621.
Revenue: 6 figure

 622.
Service provider only work 3 days a week.

 623.
The reality:

 624.
The entire business is build around a 3 day work week, which is when the service provider deliver the VIP days. A VIP Day has a higher ticket which allows for a 6-figure business.

 625.
This service provider has the same issue the coach, the entire delivery is owned by her/him and if she/he is not around, the service can not be delivered.

 626.

 627.

The dangerous of being a solopreneur is that you are your biggest liability. When you don’t have processes in place, a good framework, a strong business model and someone that can replace you, the moment life happens your business will suffer.

 628.
Usually, the moment life happens is the moment you need your business (its revenue) the most and you’ll realise you can’t count on it if you are not there to do the work.

 629.
That is the moment everything spirals and you enter the most challenging phase of your solopreneur journey!

 630.
Now, I understand, not everyone wants to grow a business and that is ok. There are strategies you can put in place to make your solopreneur business a bit more sustainable, for example, you can sell a course as part of your offers and that will give you at least one stream of income that will be around if you have to step away.

 631.
Basically, adding streams of income that doesn’t rely on your time and making sure you are investing on a personal level to have financial freedom it gives you more stability and reduces the risk of running a solopreneur business.

 654.
Have you ever wondered how to scale a 101 business and struggled to identify what business model is more aligned with you?

 655.
In this post we’ll explain the different business models you can use to scale your 101 business, the good and not so good side of each option.

 656.
We’ll provide you clarifying questions that will help you make a strategic decision of which model will suit you best and take action towards the growth you’ve been waiting for.

 657.
We will focus on the scalability options for service providers and coaches in the online industry.

 658.

 659.

 660.
What are the Different Business Models and Why Does it Matter?

 661.

 662.
Understanding your options is key to your business success. You don’t want to commit to something that is not aligned with you just to make more money, do you? That is usually not sustainable in the long run.

 663.
If you are like me and most of my audience, we are driven by helping people and by our mission – not by money – and if/when we make decisions solely based on money, we will get frustrated and unhappy with it. (Believe me, I’ve seen this happen many many times)

 664.
So let’s get to it.. Here are the most known options:

 665.

 666.

#1 Group Program

 667.
Most of the coaches or service providers take the route of creating a group offer to scale their business, which is a valid approach and works well for many of them.

 668.

 669.
#2 Courses

 670.
Creating and launching a course is another option and a bit less work then the group program, as you don’t need to add live components to it. Once you’ve developed it, you can sell on evergreen and have it as an extra revenue stream.

 671.

 672.
#3 Agency

 673.
Scaling through an agency means leveraging subcontractors or employers to do the work you are currently doing. Training them to be a version of you and deliver the same quality of work as you do.

 674.

 675.
Keep reading for pros and cons for each model and decide which one is the best fit for you.

 676.

 677.

 678.

 679.
There are 5 things you should keep in mind before choosing your next move.

 680.

 681.

#1 Choosing the right business model

 682.

 683.

 684.
One of the first steps you need to take is deciding which business model works best for you and what is your scalability plan.

 685.
As I mentioned before, you can scale by creating a group program, a course or going the agency route.

 686.
If you go the group program or course route, that means becoming a teacher which may be a completely new skillset you’ll need to develop.

 687.
It also means detaching from your client outcome/results and understanding you can not scale to a different business model and expect your clients to have the same results as they were having while working with you 101.

 688.
A course or group program can have many different structures as well but in general when you are starting to scale, you’ll most likely be the primary person delivering on that offer.

 689.
So the content, the calls, and anything else you include will mean more work for you.

 690.
You can open up your schedule as you won’t be doing as many 101 but you’ll have regular appointments on the group program model.

 691.
On the course model it will depend if you are running it live or if it will be pre-recorded.

 692.
As you can see, there are a lot of variables which means you need to really look at it strategically and see what will work best for you.

 693.

 694.
So far I’ve been mainly talking about group programs or courses but what about the agency?

 695.
If you want to scale through an agency, that means you’ll need to become a true leader and a master of delegation. You’ll also need to be a teacher and train your subcontractors or employees to perform the work you’ve been performing on your own.

 696.
The result/outcome your client will expect should not change, what changes is that you are not the only one delivering it.

 697.
That works whether you are a coach or a service provider.

 698.
If you are a service provider, you’ll be looking to hire people with a similar skillset and who knows how to work on the platforms or service you deliver and want to be part of a team.

 699.
If you are a coach, you’ll be looking for other coaches who work on a similar line of coaching or have relevant experience around that line, which you can then train them on your methodology and coaching style.

 700.
Either way means releasing control, trusting your team members and stepping up big time to a leadership role.

 701.
The idea is to remove you from client facing activities and let your team take over that. Your focus would be on team facing activities and ensuring they are happy, delivering results as expected and keeping your turnover rate low.

 702.
An agency style asks you to be a CEO more than any other scalability style mentioned above.

 703.

 704.

#2 Creating your new offer suit

 705.

 706.
Once you decide on the business model you’ll want to pursue, then you need to create your new offer.

 707.
The first thing is to design an offer that is in alignment with you, your style and how you want your business and life to be.

 708.
For example, if you are looking for more free time and a clean calendar.. you won’t want to add a lot of group coaching calls on your week, or even consider a biweekly or monthly call style instead of weekly.

 709.
For the course, considering how you’ll deliver and market it is extremely important. You wont need to add calls but you’ll need to have a great marketing plan to consistently sell it.

 710.
Here it is important to do some research, see what is already existing in the marketplace, understand your competition for that particular offer and price point as well.

 711.
Once you do your due diligence and have a clear picture of where your offer would stand in the marketplace, you can continue to develop it.

 712.
Quick checklist for you:

 713.

 714.
Define the outcome of the offer

 715.
Get clear on the results your client will get and the transformation you’ll provide

 716.
Define the scope of the new offer

 717.
Define the price point

 718.
Define how you’ll onboard new clients

 719.
Define how you’ll deliver the on the promise to your new clients

 720.

 721.

 722.

#3 Launching your new offer

 723.

 724.
When you are clear on your offer, it is time to launch it on the marketplace.

 725.
Creating a good marketing strategy and plan is essential to your success.

 726.
You may have great leads already that could buy a beta version of your new offer, or you may need to start from scratch sourcing your leads.

 727.
At this point, it is really relative to where you are with your marketing efforts and how much traffic and visibility you already have.

 728.
If you have an audience ready to buy, go for it and put your offer out there.

 729.
If you still need to build an audience for the new offer, then plan more carefully your marketing strategy to accomplish your goals.

 730.
A few prompts to help you decide:

 731.

 732.
Do I have a warm audience who is ready to buy my new offer?

 733.
Will my current sales and prospecting strategy work for the new offer?

 734.
Do I have a good size audience that can benefit from it? (Email list, social media followers, website traffic, podcast listeners, etc)

 735.
Have I ever launched an offer before? If yes, what worked and what didn’t work?

 736.
Do I have strategic partners that I could use to promote my offer? List a few names.

 737.
What would be the most aligned approach to launching an offer for me?

 738.

 739.

 740.

#4 Test, Tweak and Improve

 741.

 742.
Test, Tweak and Improve your offer and your launch strategy.

 743.
No matter how much we plan and prepare to put something out to the market, there is always room for improvement, so taking it as a new learning experience is crucial and it will be the differentiating factor to your success and scalability of your offer.

 744.
Be open to changing it and pivoting after your first try. You may realize it wasn’t what you expected and that is ok, you can change and adapt.

 745.
Ask for feedback from your clients to understand what you can do better on your next round.

 746.
Do your due diligence and evaluate what worked and what didn’t work on your launch, onboarding, delivery, sales and more..

 747.
Improvement is what makes growth happen. Remember that!

 748.

 749.

#5 Scaling

 750.

 751.
Here the fun begins.

 752.
When you hit the scaling stage, you’ve already delivered your offer the first time and notice a couple of improvements for the second round.

 753.
You realized what you liked and what you didn’t like, and you were able to adjust it accordingly.

 754.
You are happy with the results you are offering, you’ve a list of happy clients that got the transformation you’ve promised, you are confident on what you are doing and can’t wait to serve more people and help others with what you’ve built

 755.
So it is time to step up the game and bring more leads and more clients.

 756.
It is time to strategically plan your business growth and scalability.

 757.
For this next level..

 758.

 759.
How many clients do you want to have?

 760.
What do you need to have in terms of systems and operations to support that next level of growth?

 761.
What needs to change on your marketing efforts to attract qualified leads that will help you achieve your sales goals?

 762.
How many people will you need to hire?

 763.
What do you need to have in place to legally protect your business?

 764.
Are you ready to handle the growth you desire?

 765.
What will that mean for you? How much time will you need to dedicate to the business?

 766.
How will you need to grow and what skills will you need to develop to be the leaders of your own business once you hit the next level of success?

 767.

 768.

 769.
As you can see you’ve many options to scale your business and it’s possible to do it in a way that feels good to you.

 770.
So forget the cookie cutter options and the launch formulas out there.

 771.
Create something authentic and aligned with you that you will be passionate about in the long run.

 772.
Take your time to evaluate what the best option is for you and once you do, act on it!

 797.
Amy Porterfield is one of the big names when it comes to Online Marketing and Building a Course. She focuses on helping entrepreneurs build successful online businesses and profitable digital courses.

 798.
Amy has a great Instagram and Facebook community and she built a multi-millionaire business by selling Digital Courses – she achieved the dream of many entrepreneurs and course creators.

 799.
So let’s take a closer look at Amy Porterfield’s life-career-business history. Let’s uncover point A (the start) and point B (where she is at today).

 800.

“My business strategy has always been to learn from those that are getting results and model what’s already working” Amy Porterfield

 801.
Point A

 802.
Amy grew up in a blue-collar family. Her dad was a firefighter and her mom was a part-time hairstylist. They were a very traditional family in a way, but her dad always told her and her sister to grow up and find a way to be their own boss.

 803.
However, Amy followed the traditional path for quite some time..

 804.
She has a bachelor’s degree in communication worked for many years in various positions mostly in marketing departments.

 805.
Amy ended up working for over 6 years as a Director of Content Development for Tony Robbins.

 806.
In 2009 everything changed (turning point)

 807.
As Amy was sitting in one business meeting and watching the best online marketing minds and course creators brainstorm and talk about their lives, she got bitten by the entrepreneurial bug and wanted that freedom for herself.

 808.
She dedicated all her spare time to learn about the online world and leaped to start her own consulting business on the side..

 809.
She also hired a mentor, Marie Forleo who was hosting a mastermind for entrepreneurial women at the time, she says having a mentor was a secret weapon for her.

 810.
Once she had a good client-based, she made the move and quit her job at Tony Robbins however it didn’t take very long for her to realize instead of having 1 boss, she had 8.

 811.
Being a service provider on her social media business just put her into the “doer” shoes and did not give her the freedom she desired.

 812.
It took her 2 years, and in 2011, she decided to reclaim her freedom and fire all consulting clients to start building her business as we all know it today.

 813.
Her first launch was a complete flop, she spent hours creating a course and only made $247.

 814.
Although this put her down for a few days, it wasn’t enough to have her quit (thankfully)

 815.
She went back to work and started paying attention to her audience, and with that started creating courses that her audience would like. With every result that came in and success story she received, it just gave her more and more confident that she was on the right path.

 816.
Point B: Two years later, in 2013 she hit her first million.

 821.
There were a lot of ups and downs along the way but now, Amy has a Net Worth of $13 million.

 822.
She makes about $5 million per year and the majority of her income comes from her online courses. She is also an affiliate for different platforms and Marie Forleo program as well.

 877. Amy is a visionary and a digital marketing expert.

 878.
She knows how to leverage her strengths and is focused on getting known by one thing.

 879.
She worked hard and still works hard to keep her business running and be the expert she is.

 880.
She started just like many of us, being a service provider and working behind the scenes because she couldn’t see her worth and her own potential.

 881.
She struggled with her own mindset issues but was able to overcome that which made all the difference and allowed her to have the business she has today.

 882.
She hired experts, had help and guidance and she was open to learning along the way.

 883.
Just like Tony, she STAYED THE COURSE and didn’t give up.

 884.
She knew what she wanted to do and kept doing it until it started to work.

 885.
Here are my key takeaways from her history:

 886.
Amy’s path is super similar to mine and I’d say it took me the same 2 years to finally realize the service provider business I had built wasn’t gonna cut it..

 887.
It didn’t allow me to have the freedom I desired but I decided to solve the freedom piece differently!

 888.
She kept her mind open to learn new things, working with Tony Robbins and being mentored by Marie Forleo was huge for her entrepreneurial ship life but her ability to take it all in and act on it is what made all the difference.

 889.
Her resilience and ability to pivot are something to be highlighted as well.

 890.
Amy knew she was here for more, she found her bigger mission and went all in.

 891.
In sum:

 892.

 893.
Strategically develop the skills you need.

 894.
Be a great student

 895.
Be coachable

 896.
Invest in a good mentor

 897.
Don’t be afraid to take risks

 898.
Stay the course

 899.
Take action

 900.

 901.
It won’t be easy, and it won’t happen overnight. But it will happen if you don’t lose sight of it and focus on the right things.
