As such, the proposals reflect this and should stop the tax system, of itself, preventing investment in the shale gas sector.&lt;/p&gt;

It&amp;#39;s unclear whether such a revolution can occur in the UK. Shale gas is only a low carbon transition fuel if we are making the low carbon transition more broadly across the energy and transport sectors. Some environmentalists may question whether these trade-offs are worth it, or whether other low carbon technologies are worth more investment.&lt;/p&gt;

The increases to the annual tax free limits for the Share Incentive Plan (SIP) and Save as You Earn (SAYE), which are favoured by a significant number of UK companies, will make a big difference to a significant number of UK companies and workers. The changes will be particularly welcomed following the cuts to pension relief over recent years.&lt;/p&gt;
  182. &lt;p&gt;Employers will now be able to award employees in a share incentive plan (SIP) for 2014/2015 free shares worth £3,600 (up from £3,000).&lt;/p&gt;
