Growing up Filipina in Canada, she experienced firsthand the challenges of fitting into a society dominated by Eurocentric ideals.

47.
Having previously worked as a journalist and now presently as a full-time creator in the beauty space, Roshelle continuously utilizes her platform to ensure others can see themselves celebrated in the beauty narratives prevalent on social media and beyond. “I just want people to know that you can succeed just by looking like yourself,” the 25-year-old tells us. “It’s so important to radiate that in my work.” From her everyday glam, which she describes as glowy with blush for a pop of color, to her minimalist yet constantly evolving style, there’s so much to love about Roshelle.

49.
50.
51.
In her daily beauty routines and the content she shares, Roshelle further emphasizes authenticity and exploration. Whether discussing the newest makeup trends or her go-to looks, she invites her audience to celebrate their individuality alongside her. “I love to enhance my natural beauty and what makes me feel confident,” she explains. “I think trends are fun and that’s what makeup should be—at the end of the day, it should be fun.” Through her platform, Roshelle continues to inspire others to embrace their identities and experiment confidently, demonstrating that beauty is a personal journey unique to each individual.

61.
62.
63.
Tell me about your relationship with beauty — what’s different from when you were a child compared to now?

64.
65.
66.
67.
Growing up in Canada, being Filipino in a society that highly valued Eurocentric beauty really discouraged me from seeing my own unique beauty. I was always constantly wanting to be white, rejecting my heritage, and I just wanted to fit in. It never helped that the mainstream media and advertisements never really had anybody that looked like me. I feel like that distorted my identity completely. That’s really where my goals were came to light. Even at such a young age, I just deeply wanted to be valued and seen.

68.
69.
70.
71.
I think that really helps me now: Representation is my goal. I want anyone who watches my content to see themselves in it and see that it’s not just Eurocentric beauty that’s beautiful. We should celebrate our uniqueness and we should understand that our differences are our strengths. We shouldn’t aim to look like somebody we’re not. Representation became something I really valued and something that I continue to want to radiate in my work today.

72.
73.
74.
75.
I want to emphasize that you can succeed just by looking like yourself. It’s so important for me to have that radiate in my work – I never try to alter how I look; I always do me and do what I feel comfortable and confident in. It took me a long time to feel comfortable in my skin and I hope that by doing what makes me feel good and happy – I inspire others to do the same.

76.
77.
78.
79.
Speaking of, how do you feel about the industry in terms of representation?

80.
81.
82.
83.
I grew up during the YouTube beauty guru era. So you were only seeing white girls in the space and maybe a couple of handful of girls that kind of looked like me, but none that I truly resonated with. I think the current beauty space is definitely more diverse and inclusive than it was before but it has a long way to go. There is room for everybody in the space — in my opinion, I think that more creators of color deserve a greater spotlight on how talented they are.

84.
85.
86.
87.
How about your everyday makeup look?

88.
89.
90.
91.
What makes me feel the most confident is enhancing my natural features and focusing on what feels good for me. Right now, my go-to look is glowy makeup. I love the glowy makeup look, and the Sabrina Carpenter blush thing is going around, which I love because I love blush. I hopped on that trend. I think trends are fun and that’s what makeup should be — at the end of the day, it should be fun.

92.
93.
94.
95.
Trends build community and help you step out of your comfort zone. Like, there was this one trend – the latte makeup that used latte browns and bronzy tones, which isn’t my normal go-to look, but trends help push you to try new things you might not otherwise. I just love glowy, fresh skin. I love when you can feel fresh and look like yourself, that’s kind of my go-to makeup style right now. It makes me feel put together, confident, and ready to take on my day.

107.
Oh my god, I started with 2016 makeup, and if you know anything about 2016 makeup, it was the dark dip brow, the harsh contour, the cut crease — I was doing that in high school. I probably won’t be rocking that look anytime soon but that’s the beauty of the evolving beauty community. You’re able to express yourself through trends and have your own spin on things. It kind of pushes you to say, “Oh, this is something that I wouldn’t normally do but I actually like how this turned out so it’s staying in the routine!” That’s one of the best ways to learn new tips and keep your makeup looking fresh. and I can actually keep doing this with my everyday makeup.”

111.
When it comes to fashion, how would you describe your style?

112.
113.
114.
115.
I wore a uniform until I was about 17, and I’m 25 now. So, my style is relatively young and still developing but I have transitioned from younger, trendy pieces to more of a “capsule” wardrobe — with good quality, staple pieces. As I’ve gotten older, I prefer to spend more on items I’ll wear a lot, rather than trendy pieces that have a short shelf life. My style now focuses more on comfort and less about fitting into something that I won’t feel comfortable in.

119.
What are your wardrobe staples?

120.
121.
122.
123.
It’s crazy that you asked because I donated half my closet last week. I just turned 25 last month so it was important for me to have my style reflect the individual I want to grow into. My closet staples are definitely a good oversized leather jacket, good quality denim and a bunch of good quality blanks like black, white, and grey tees — that’s literally all you need. You can accessorize that, and makeup is an accessory, too, so of course I use that to enhance my looks. I also got a new pair of Miu Miu glasses that I’m obsessed with right now.

132.
133.
134.
135.
I would love to continue creating beauty content and evolving in the space and potentially creating my own makeup product or line. This is one of my more ambitious ideas, but anyone that knows me knows I love beauty but I also love fitness and wellness.

136.
137.
138.
139.
That said, I would love to open a self-care studio. I love Pilates and skincare, so combining my love for beauty, wellness, and fitness could be really cool. I would love to also see myself at a Sephora or as the face of a beauty brand that I really align with for a fun beauty campaign.

145.
146.
147.
I would say don’t be afraid. Don’t be afraid to fail, don’t be afraid to start, don’t be afraid of what others think of you. The first step is always the hardest. If you love it, and at the end of the day, when you’re in bed and you’re thinking about what you really want to do, listen to that voice. That voice will always tell you exactly what you want to do, whether or not you want to listen to it. It’s always just going to be that North Star for you.

148.
149.
150.
151.
Never allow other people’s opinions to stop you and make you feel like you’re not doing the right thing or doing enough. The right people will always support and love you. We’re always so fixated on whether or not we’re making the right choice – but the truth is, there’s no right or wrong choice. The right choice is the choice that you make, wholeheartedly.

172.
Julia Pratt’s latest project, Family Feud, is finally out now. The five-song EP builds on the buzz of previous singles like “Carolina” and “Chronos, Cruel Handler.” The latter offering centers on domestic imagery and questions of fault, the energy ramping to a pained confrontation, whereas its predecessor touches upon returning to someone, something, someplace you used to love.

176.
Family Feud marks Pratt’s first body of work since 2023’s Two to Tango, which housed fan favorites such as “A Little Love” and “Julia, Baby.” Beginning in her voice as a child consumed with her OCD, the songs on the latest EP progress into her teenage years as the scapegoat of the family, into the haunting direct addresses to her father who abandoned her. By the close of Family Feud, Pratt has reached her present voice as an adult, where she can face her trauma with no malice.

180.
“The project is about my family and my relationship with them. I knew I wanted it to be something that made it clear that it’s about a family,” she shares. “This EP is really about me competing with my own family members and trying to be part of the team. It was kind of a joke, but I felt like it fit the project perfectly.”

190.
191.
192.
Let’s take it back to the beginning. What role did music play in your life growing up?

193.
194.
195.
196.
Definitely a big role. I played saxophone for a lot of my life. I was in jazz band and played in an orchestra. Music taught me a lot of discipline growing up and gave me a lot of structure. It was also a really big emotional part of my life. Outside of playing, I listened to music a lot. My parents played music in the house a lot. I found solace in listening to people’s songs. I grew up moving around a lot, and it was nice to hear that, around the world, there were people who felt similar things to me. We don’t express a lot of those things in conversations. So, music was just really big for me in feeling like a person and feeling accepted, I guess.

197.
198.
199.
200.
Are there any anecdotes you maybe haven’t told people before?

201.
202.
203.
204.
I think one thing I haven’t really said before is that I didn’t grow up singing at all. I only started singing publicly when I was in high school. I sang a lot to myself, but I was always embarrassed to sing in front of people. I thought singers and performers were kind of attention-seeking, and I didn’t want to be that person taking up space. So, I looked down on that for a long time and didn’t allow myself to be center stage.

205.
206.
207.
208.
I felt more prideful, wanting to be off on the sidelines. I felt like I had more power that way, which was weird. It was just interesting. Also, growing up playing in ensembles, I really saw music as a collective effort. I felt like if I became a singer, I was taking up all the space. So, I had a hard time stepping into that role. But now, I’ve definitely grown out of that as time has come. But when I was younger, that was a big dilemma for me, like, how do I tell people that I do this and not seem like an asshole.

209.
210.
211.
212.
Tell me about your life as a teenager going into adulthood. What were some of the pivotal moments that defined who you are today?

213.
214.
215.
216.
I lived in Asia for a couple of years as a kid, and I think moving back to the US when I was 13 was the biggest shift for me in my life. Coming back to America was just so different from what I had been living in, and it was a big culture shock. I kind of didn’t feel like home was home anymore. That experience has dictated a lot of my adult life because once I came back to the US, I never really found a place again that was mine and that I felt really comfortable in.

217.
218.
219.
220.
Growing up moving around, I’m very restless, and I struggle to settle down anywhere and define anything about myself. That’s probably the most impactful thing. You can hear it in my music in that I write across genres. I just make music that I enjoy, and one day that could be more country-influenced, the next day it’s very poppy. I don’t like to decide, so I’m just indecisive as a human being.

221.
222.
223.
224.
Before we get into the EP itself, can you explain the reasoning behind the title, Family Feud?

225.
226.
227.
228.
Yeah, so the project is about my family and my relationship with them. I knew I wanted it to be something that made it clear that it’s about a family. But I grew up watching the show “Family Feud” a lot with my grandma. I just thought it would be a funny nod to that, you know, this game show where families compete against other families. But this EP is really about me competing with my own family members and trying to be part of the team. It was kind of a joke, but I felt like it fit the project perfectly.

229.
230.
231.
232.
Starting with “Visions,” the opening track, what inspired this song?

233.
234.
235.
236.
I was just sitting playing guitar, and I wrote it really quickly. There aren’t a lot of words in that song, so it was just a quick write. I was thinking a lot about death, and I don’t think I was feeling panic necessarily, but I was thinking about the panic attacks I used to have as a kid and trying to put into words the weight that death felt like on my shoulders as a kid. It’s like this thing that’s coming and we all know it’s coming. We try to sugarcoat it, but it’s going to come. It was a very fast write, just about that fear, I guess.

243.
244.
245.
246.
Sonically, the final cut, “Michael,” is very different from the other songs on this EP. Can you tell me more about it?

247.
248.
249.
250.
“Michael” is about my dad. I knew stylistically that it was going to be the only piano song on the project. I wanted it to sound old and vintage, so we have this really cool delay on the vocal that makes it sound a bit from a different era. I wanted it to feel very classic, almost like a classic rock ballad, processed and affected but also very raw. The vocal take was done in one or two goes; I didn’t want it to feel polished. I wanted it to feel very natural and authentic. It’s about my relationship with my dad and kind of updating him on who I am as a person since he hasn’t been in my life for a long time. That’s the basis of the song, and I felt the production highlighted the story behind it.

251.
252.
253.
254.
What was your proudest moment while making the record? Did anything surprise you about the creative process?

255.
256.
257.
258.
Producing it was a really cool experience for me because this project feels very organic. We didn’t really use any electronic sounds in it, and some of my music is a bit more produced out, bigger, bolder, electronic. This one just felt organic and natural, yet it had a lot of groove to it. I was really proud of how real it felt. I wanted everything to feel rustic, and that was achieved. That was, I guess, my proudest part of making the record.

259.
260.
261.
262.
How do you think your sound has evolved since your early releases?

263.
264.
265.
266.
I think it’s kind of all over the place, and I think it will continue to be. One way it’s evolved is in how I sing my songs now, especially live. I’m trying to capture that live essence in the recordings a bit more. In my older stuff, I was very focused on making sure the vocal was as perfect as it could be, wanting to feel like this was the perfect take.

267.
268.
269.
270.
Whereas now, I’m more focused on whether it feels the most authentic to the song. Sometimes, my voice will crack, or it’ll be raspy, and over time, I’ve started to really respect those flaws a lot more. I kind of enjoy listening to things on their rawest, realest level. So, I think that’s the major development because, sonically, it’s all over the place, and I have no idea what’s happening next.

271.
272.
273.
274.
Pivoting away from music for a bit, what role does fashion play in your everyday life?

275.
276.
277.
278.
I do love fashion, especially makeup, jewelry, and hair. Getting my hair done is a big part of my life. I love getting my hair braided, trying new styles, and dyeing my hair. But I think fashion and music really go hand in hand. Every time I write a song, and I’m feeling a certain way, I put that feeling into the song. Similarly, when I wake up in the morning and put on an outfit, I want it to represent how I feel at that moment. I wouldn’t even really say that I have a style because it changes by the day. I just like to reflect how I feel at any given moment. So, I like how the two are connected in that way, and it feels very fluid.

279.
280.
281.
282.

283.

284.

285.
286.
287.
288.
Also, I noticed that you have a whole sleeve of tattoos on your arm — do they have any significant meanings?

289.
290.
291.
292.
Not anymore. When I started getting tattooed, everything had a meaning. My first tattoo is this little timer that says “10 seconds” on it. It was about the idea that you can do anything for 10 seconds, and it was very empowering. Initially, my tattoos had to be empowering. Now, I’m at the point where I just got a bird a couple of days ago because I kind of wanted a bird. There’s no rhyme or reason to it. I just love art and other people’s art. I can’t draw, but if I could, I would totally make my own tattoos. There’s something about being covered in other people’s art, whether it’s tattoos, jewelry, or clothes, that makes me feel so connected to myself. My goal is to be fully tatted at some point in the next couple of years, so I’m working towards that.

293.
294.
295.
296.
Are you worried about what people will think of you afterward?

297.
298.
299.
300.
I definitely was at first. Everyone tells you growing up that if you have too many tattoos, you won’t be able to find a job. In response, I got both of my hands tattooed because I guess I was taking myself out of the running for a corporate job. I’m at the point where anyone who would look down on me or judge me for having tattoos is not someone I want to be involved with in any way, shape, or form. Actually, my tattoos draw people who understand me closer because people will come up and say, “I love your tattoos,” and it’s a great conversation starter.

301.
302.
303.
304.
I really loved the glam for the cover of Family Feud. Did you have any say in how it all came together?

305.
306.
307.
308.
Oh my gosh, that was so fun. Yeah, I work with this photographer, Maddie Napieralski. She takes all my photos, and I love her. That day, we didn’t have any idea what we were going to do. But we had ordered those fabrics from Amazon. I got there, and I knew we wanted to do something with flowers, but we didn’t know we were going to end up gluing them onto my face.

309.
310.
311.
312.
Once I saw, I got this red eyeshadow that day, did the eye look, and then I was like, “Oh my god, we should totally stick them on my face like flower petals.” It was really cool and organic. There wasn’t much direction to what we were doing. What I love about Maddie is, like me, she captures how we were feeling that day, which was pretty and soft and dreamy and glowy and flowy. We just kind of cultivated that image together. It was really fun.

339.
A bustier often reminds people of ornate Victorian outfits or bold looks sported by contemporary pop icons. Essentially, it’s designed to sculpt the torso, enhancing the bust by tightening around the upper midriff and defining the waist. The garment serves as both support and style accessory.

340.
341.
342.
343.
So, what is a bustier exactly? It’s a form-fitting garment that combines the functionality of a supportive bra with the silhouette of a corset. Unlike its restrictive ancestors, today’s bustiers balance comfort with style, making them suitable for various occasions, from formal events to casual outings. They’re crafted from materials like lace, silk, or sometimes even leather, and are often adorned with intricate details such as hooks, zippers, or romantic lacing.

344.
345.
346.
347.
Design and Features

348.
349.
350.
351.
Bustiers are characterized by their snug fit, which supports and shapes the torso. Key elements include built-in cups that enhance the bust and boning that reinforces the shape, providing a silhouette-enhancing structure similar to a corset but with less constriction. The boning in a bustier is typically made from flexible materials like plastic or steel, which helps maintain the garment’s shape while allowing more freedom of movement than traditional corsets.

352.
353.
354.
355.
Materials used in bustiers vary widely, encompassing everything from delicate lace for a romantic touch to robust leather for a bolder look. Not to mention, these garments often feature fastenings such as hooks, zippers, or laces at the back or side, making them adjustable to different body sizes and shapes. It’s worth mentioning that adjustability is crucial because it ensures that the style fits snugly without being uncomfortably tight.

356.
357.
358.
359.
In addition to their structural components, bustiers also come in various styles. Some are designed to be worn as lingerie, while others are embellished with ornate details or made from luxurious fabrics, making them suitable for outerwear.

365.
366.
367.
History and Evolution

368.
369.
370.
371.
The bustier has evolved significantly from its historical origins. Initially derived from the corset, it was designed to mold the body into a fashionable silhouette typical of various historical periods, emphasizing a cinched waist and uplifted bust. Over the centuries, as fashion and social norms changed, so too did the structure and purpose of the bustier.

372.
373.
374.
375.
In the early 20th century, as corsets became less popular due to their restrictive nature, the bustier emerged as a more comfortable alternative that still offered shaping benefits without extreme constriction. By the mid-20th century, it began to gain popularity not just as undergarments but as part of women’s outerwear, influenced by women’s changing roles in society and their desire for both style and comfort. Its evolution reflects broader trends in fashion and culture, showcasing how garments adapt to changing times while retaining their core elements.

376.
377.
378.
379.
Fashion and Styling

380.
381.
382.
383.
Bustiers have found their niche in both formal and casual fashion, serving as versatile pieces that can elevate any outfit. As an undergarment, a bustier helps create a smooth silhouette under dresses and tops, ensuring outfits look flawless. For a bolder statement, many choose to wear them as outerwear, pairing them with everything from high-waisted jeans for a casual look to elegant skirts for evening wear.

384.
385.
386.
387.
For more formal occasions, bustiers are often seen as part of evening wear, paired with high-waisted skirts or elegant trousers to create a sleek, streamlined silhouette. In bridal fashion, they are frequently chosen for their flattering fit and romantic allure, often featured in wedding dresses or as part of the bridal lingerie set. Whether styled subtly under a piece of clothing or showcased prominently as the centerpiece of an outfit, styling is more so about finding what works best for you.

394.
395.
Care and Maintenance

396.
397.
398.
399.
Proper care and maintenance are essential to preserving the quality and shape of a bustier. Due to their intricate design and the delicate materials often used, the style often requires specific attention to ensure they last long and continue to fit well.

400.
401.
402.
403.
For washing, it’s recommended to hand wash bustiers — similar to how you would with lingerie — gently with a mild detergent, especially if they are made of lace or silk. This method helps prevent damage to the fabric and boning that machine washing might cause. Air drying is preferred over machine drying, as the heat from a dryer can degrade the fabric and distort the boning, which is crucial for maintaining the garment’s structure.

404.
405.
406.
407.
If a bustier features steel boning or other non-washable elements, spot cleaning might be necessary. For leather, using appropriate leather care products is essential to keep the material supple and prevent cracking. Regular checks for any loose threads or stretched elastics can help catch issues early, preventing further damage and extending the life of the bustier.

414.
415.
FAQ

416.
417.
418.
419.
What should you consider when choosing a bustier if you have larger busts?

420.
421.
422.
423.
For those with larger busts, it’s essential to pick a bustier that provides both support and comfort. Look for bustiers with wider straps, full coverage cups, and sturdy underwire for adequate support. A wider band under the bust and multiple hook-and-eye closures in the back can also help distribute weight evenly. Additionally, robust boning is key to maintaining shape without digging into the skin. Opt for materials that offer a bit of stretch to comfortably accommodate your bust while keeping everything in place.

424.
425.
426.
427.
How does a bustier differ from a corset?

428.
429.
430.
431.
Bustiers and corsets are both designed to shape the torso, but they serve different purposes and are constructed differently. They’re usually used for fashion and moderate shaping, providing breast support and smoothing the waist. They typically have lighter boning and are made from more flexible materials. On the other hand, corsets are meant to significantly cinch the waist and create a dramatic hourglass figure. They’re built with much sturdier boning, usually steel, and include a lacing system in the back for tight cinching.

432.
433.
434.
435.
Can bustiers be a practical option for bridal wear?

436.
437.
438.
439.
Absolutely, bustiers are a popular choice for bridal wear due to their ability to provide a flattering silhouette and substantial support. They work exceptionally well under wedding dresses as they smooth the torso and enhance the bust, creating a perfect base for the dress to sit beautifully. For brides looking for a romantic and structured look, a bustier can also be a stylish component of the wedding outfit itself, paired with a high-waisted skirt or pants.

455.
Frizzy hair can be a relentless challenge for many, appearing when you least want it—whether you’re stepping out for an important meeting or trying to look your best at a social event. Whether due to humidity, hair damage, or simply your hair’s natural texture, frizz is a common challenge that spans hair types and climates.

456.
457.
458.
459.
If you’re wondering how to get rid of frizz, understanding the underlying causes is key. The answer involves a combination of proper hair care techniques and selecting the right products. That’s right: It’s not just about taming flyaways for the day but nurturing your hair to prevent frizz from taking hold in the first place Throughout this article, we’ll explore various techniques, from washing routines to styling tips, that can help you achieve a sleeker look.

460.
461.
462.
463.
Understanding Frizz

464.
465.
466.
467.
Frizz occurs when the outer layer of your hair, the cuticle, becomes raised, allowing moisture to pass through and swell the strands. This can happen for various reasons, including humidity, hair damage from heat styling or chemical treatments, and naturally dry or curly hair types that are more prone to frizziness. The raised cuticles create a rough texture and appearance, making hair look dry and unruly.

468.
469.
470.
471.
To effectively combat frizz, it’s crucial to understand the specific factors contributing to it in your hair. For instance, those living in high-humidity environments might experience more frizz because the air causes more moisture to penetrate the hair. Similarly, using heat styling tools excessively without proper protection can damage the cuticle, leading to more pronounced frizz. By pinpointing the causes specific to your situation, you can tailor your hair care regimen to address these issues more effectively.

472.

474.
475.

476.
477.
478.
479.
Proper Hair Washing Techniques

480.
481.
482.
483.
The way you wash your hair can significantly influence how much frizz you contend with. Overwashing can strip away the natural oils that help smooth and protect your hair, leaving it more vulnerable to frizz. To maintain these oils, it’s beneficial to wash your hair only a few times a week rather than daily. When you do wash, choosing the right shampoo is crucial—opt for sulfate-free formulas that provide gentle cleansing without drying out your hair.

484.
485.
486.
487.
Temperature also plays a role; hot water can further raise the hair cuticle and lead to frizz. Instead, use lukewarm water for washing and finish with a blast of cold water to help seal the cuticles, locking in moisture and making your hair smoother. After washing, gently pat your hair dry with a microfiber towel instead of vigorously rubbing it, which can also roughen the cuticle and create frizz.

488.
489.
490.
491.
Moisturizing Treatments

492.
493.
494.
495.
Keeping your hair well-moisturized is key to combating frizz. Dry hair tends to be more frizzy because it absorbs moisture from the air, causing the hair to swell and create frizz. To prevent this, incorporate hydrating products into your hair care routine. Regular use of conditioners and deep conditioning treatments can significantly improve hair hydration. Choose products enriched with natural oils like coconut oil, argan oil, or shea butter, which can penetrate the hair shaft to nourish and smooth the cuticles.

496.
497.
498.
499.
Additionally, consider applying leave-in conditioners or hair masks once a week. They provide an extra layer of moisture that lasts longer and helps keep your hair manageable between washes. For an even deeper treatment, you can use DIY masks made from ingredients like avocado, honey, or yogurt, which are great for natural hydration and can help tame frizz effectively.

500.
501.
502.
503.

504.
505.
506.
507.
Drying and Styling Tips

508.
509.
510.
511.
How you dry and style your hair can also affect frizz levels. After washing, gently blot your hair with a microfiber towel, which is softer and more absorbent than regular towels. It minimizes friction and helps prevent the hair cuticle from becoming rough, which can lead to frizz. Avoid wringing out your hair, as it can damage the hair shaft and increase frizziness.

512.
513.
514.
515.
When it comes to drying, air drying is often the best option for reducing frizz. However, if you need to use a hair dryer, opt for the coolest setting and keep the dryer at least six inches away from your hair. Using a diffuser attachment can also help distribute the heat more evenly, reducing the chance of heat damage and frizz.

516.
517.
518.
519.
For styling, use minimal heat. Heat tools can strip moisture from your hair, making it more prone to frizz. If heat is necessary, always apply a heat-protectant product first to shield your hair from damage. Additionally, consider using styling products specifically designed to fight frizz, such as smoothing serums or anti-frizz creams.

520.
521.
522.
523.
How to Prevent Frizz

524.
525.
526.
527.
To keep frizz at bay effectively, it’s essential to integrate preventive measures into your daily hair care routine. Start by choosing hair products that are specifically formulated to control frizz. Look for serums, creams, or sprays that contain ingredients like silicone, which coats the hair and helps seal the cuticle, keeping moisture out and preventing it from puffing up.

528.
529.
530.
531.
Incorporating protective hairstyles can also help manage frizz, especially in humid or windy conditions. Styles like braids, buns, or twists keep your hair contained and reduce exposure to the elements that can lead to frizz. Additionally, sleeping on a silk or satin pillowcase can prevent your hair from rubbing against harsher fabrics, reducing friction and overnight frizz.

532.
533.
534.
535.
Another key factor is protecting your hair from environmental stressors. Before heading out, apply products with UV protection to shield your hair from sun damage, which can dry out hair and increase frizz. During extreme weather conditions, consider wearing a hat or scarf to protect your hair from the elements, further helping to maintain smoothness and manage frizz.

564.
Determining the right number of underwear to keep in your drawer isn’t just a question of personal preference—it’s a matter of practicality and hygiene. Most of us don’t consider the logistics of our lingerie until we find ourselves running low before laundry day. With different lifestyles and individual habits, the magic number can vary, but there are some general guidelines that can help streamline your wardrobe.

565.
566.
567.
568.
So, how many pairs of underwear should you own? The answer ties directly to your daily activities, your access to laundry facilities, and how often you find yourself needing a fresh pair. Whether you’re a gym enthusiast, a frequent traveler, or someone who prefers to do laundry less often, balancing the number of your underwear with your lifestyle ensures you’re never caught off guard.

569.
570.
571.
572.
Daily Use and Laundry Habits

573.
574.
575.
576.
Your laundry habits are a pivotal factor in determining how many pairs of underwear you should keep on hand. Ideally, you’ll want enough underwear to last until your next laundry day, plus a few extras for unexpected delays or emergencies. For someone who does laundry once a week, owning about 10 to 14 pairs is a practical range. This allows you to have a fresh pair for each day, plus a couple of spare sets just in case.

577.
578.
579.
580.
However, if you’re someone who tends to do laundry less frequently, perhaps every two weeks, you might consider increasing that number. In such cases, having around 15 to 20 pairs ensures you’re well-prepared without the need for mid-week washing. On the other hand, for those who prefer more frequent laundry days, such as twice a week, owning fewer pairs could suffice, focusing on quality over quantity. Each person’s routine varies, so adjust the count based on how often you find yourself running the wash.

581.
582.
583.
584.

585.
586.
587.
588.
Lifestyle Considerations

589.
590.
591.
592.
The number of underwear you need can also depend significantly on your lifestyle. For example, if you have a physically demanding job or exercise regularly, you might find yourself changing underwear more than once a day. In such cases, it’s practical to have a larger stash to avoid frequent laundry runs. Likewise, if you travel often for work or pleasure, keeping extra pairs on hand ensures you’re always prepared, regardless of your access to laundry facilities while on the road.

593.
594.
595.
596.
Additionally, consider your comfort preferences and seasonal changes. Some may prefer lighter fabrics or specific styles depending on the weather, requiring a variety in their underwear drawer to suit different conditions. Whether you’re dealing with hot summers that call for breathable materials or cold winters where extra layers are necessary, having the right underwear for the right situation can enhance your comfort and hygiene. Adjust your underwear inventory not only based on the frequency of use but also on these environmental and personal comfort factors.

597.
598.
599.
600.
Quality vs. Quantity

601.
602.
603.
604.
When stocking up on underwear, it’s important to strike a balance between quality and quantity. Investing in high-quality underwear can mean they last longer and provide better comfort and support, potentially reducing the need to own a very large number. On the other hand, having a sufficient quantity ensures you’re never in a pinch on laundry day.

605.
606.
607.
608.
Quality underwear might cost more upfront but can withstand the wear and tear of regular use and frequent washes better than cheaper options. This means they maintain their shape, elasticity, and comfort over time, reducing the frequency of replacements. However, if you are on a tighter budget or your underwear undergoes heavy use (like intense gym sessions or long workdays in varying climates), having a greater number of moderately priced items might be more practical.

609.
610.
611.
612.
Ultimately, consider how each pair fits into your daily life and how often you can realistically manage laundry sessions. For those who can wash their underwear frequently and delicately, fewer high-quality pieces might suffice. For others, a blend of both quality for everyday comfort and quantity for practical readiness might be the best approach.

613.
614.
615.
616.

617.
618.
619.
620.
Replacement and Rotation

621.
622.
623.
624.
It’s crucial to regularly assess and rotate your underwear to maintain a hygienic wardrobe. Even the best quality underwear eventually shows signs of wear—elastic begins to loosen, fabric thins, and colors fade. These are clear indicators that it’s time for a replacement. Typically, it’s a good practice to review and possibly refresh your underwear collection annually, ensuring that each pair is in good condition and meets your standards for hygiene and comfort.

625.
626.
627.
628.
Regularly rotating your underwear also helps to distribute wear more evenly, extending the lifespan of each piece. Keeping an eye out for any signs of deterioration not only keeps your collection fresh but also prevents discomfort or skin irritations that can arise from worn-out materials. When you notice that a pair is starting to degrade, replacing it promptly ensures that your collection remains functional and comfortable.

629.
630.
631.
632.
Final Verdict

633.
634.
635.
636.
For most adults, a practical number of underwear to own ranges from 14 to 20 pairs. This amount ensures that you have a fresh pair for each day of the week, plus several extras for convenience or emergencies, accommodating both regular wear and unexpected situations. It also allows for a comfortable buffer between laundry days, reducing the likelihood of ever running short.

637.
638.
639.
640.
Ultimately, the exact number you choose should be tailored to your personal habits, washing frequency, and lifestyle needs. Adjust the number up if you find yourself frequently needing more due to active routines or down if you have regular access to laundry facilities and prefer a minimalist approach.

645.
646.
647.
648.
FAQ

649.
650.
651.
652.
How do seasonal changes affect the quantity of underwear you should have?

653.
654.
655.
656.
Seasonal considerations might also impact how many pairs of underwear you need. In warmer months, you might find yourself wanting to change underwear more frequently due to sweating, thus needing more lightweight and moisture-wicking options. In contrast, during colder months, you might lean towards materials that provide better insulation and require fewer changes if you’re less active or sweating less.

657.
658.
659.
660.
Does the type of underwear matter when deciding how many to own?

661.
662.
663.
664.
Yes, the type of underwear you prefer can affect how many you should keep in your drawer. For example, if you wear specific types for different occasions—like seamless styles for tight clothing, more breathable materials for workouts, or more formal options for work—your needs will vary. It’s practical to have a good mix that covers all aspects of your lifestyle, from daily wear to special occasions.

665.
666.
667.
668.
What’s a good strategy for rotating and replacing underwear to maintain a healthy rotation?

669.
670.
671.
672.
A good strategy is to mark the purchase dates on your underwear tags or keep track in a calendar to monitor their age. Rotate your stock by putting freshly laundered pairs at the back or bottom of your stack so you wear older pairs first. This helps wear them evenly and makes it easier to see which ones are starting to wear out and need replacing. Regularly checking for signs of wear, such as thinning material or loose elastics, and removing any that don’t meet your standards will keep your rotation fresh and functional.

688.
Choosing the right face powder is crucial in creating a flawless makeup look, but with so many options on the market, it can be hard to know where to start. Whether setting your foundation, controlling shine, or achieving that perfect matte finish, the choice between loose powder and pressed powder is more significant than it might appear.

689.
690.
691.
692.
So, what should you pick: loose powder vs. pressed powder? Both options play a pivotal role in enhancing your makeup routine, but they do so in different ways. Let’s explore what sets these two staples apart and how you can decide which one might be the best fit for your skin type and lifestyle needs.

693.
694.
695.
696.
What is Loose Powder?

697.
698.
699.
700.
Loose powder is a finely milled cosmetic powder that typically comes in a container with a sifter to help control the amount you use. Its texture is light and airy, making it excellent for achieving a smooth, natural finish on the skin. Loose powder is often favored for setting makeup because it can provide a more even application without caking, which is particularly ideal for those looking to lock in their foundation and concealer for extended wear.

701.
702.
703.
704.
The main advantage of loose powder is its ability to seamlessly blend into the skin, offering a flawless, almost airbrushed appearance. It’s particularly effective for people with oily skin as it tends to have superior oil-absorbing properties compared to pressed powder. However, its fine texture can be a bit messy to work with, especially if you’re applying makeup on the go.

709.
710.

712.
What is Pressed Powder?

713.
714.
715.
716.
Pressed powder is compact and convenient, formed by compressing loose powder into a solid cake. Much like the name hints, it comes in a compact case, often accompanied by a mirror and an applicator, making it an excellent choice for touch-ups throughout the day. Pressed powder is typically denser than loose powder and can be applied using a sponge or brush for a quick fix or a more polished look.

717.
718.
719.
720.
The main benefits of pressed powder include its ease of transport and less messy application, which are big pluses for those who prefer to apply makeup outside of home or need to reapply during busy days. It offers a slightly heavier coverage than loose powder, which can be advantageous for covering blemishes or evening out skin tone. However, the compact nature means it might settle into fine lines or wrinkles more readily, which is something to consider if you have dry or mature skin.

726.
727.
728.
Durability and Portability

729.
730.
731.
732.
When it comes to durability on the skin, both loose and pressed powders have their strengths. Loose powder tends to stay put for hours, making it a reliable choice for those long days where you need your makeup to hold up without frequent touch-ups. Its ability to control oil and blend invisibly into the foundation helps maintain your look from morning until evening.

733.
734.
735.
736.
On the other hand, pressed powder scores high marks for portability. Its compact format fits perfectly in a purse or pocket, ideal for quick fixes on the move. The included mirror and applicator make it easy to manage shine or freshen up your makeup no matter where you are. While it might require a bit more attention to keep from settling into lines, the convenience of pressed powder is unmatched for active, on-the-go lifestyles.

737.
738.
739.
740.
Pros and Cons

741.
742.
743.
744.
Choosing between loose and pressed powder involves understanding their benefits and drawbacks to match your makeup preferences and lifestyle.

745.
746.
747.
748.
Loose powder provides a natural finish that enhances the skin without appearing caked. It’s excellent for oily skin types as it effectively absorbs excess oil and creates a flawless look suitable for long events or professional settings. However, its fine texture can be messy, requiring careful application to avoid spills, which makes it less ideal for quick touch-ups when you’re out and about.

749.
750.
751.
752.
Pressed powder, in contrast, is known for its convenience. The compact design, complete with a mirror and applicator, makes it perfect for on-the-go use. It allows for quick and clean applications, making it a favorite for midday refreshes or travel. Pressed powder can cover blemishes and even out skin tone with precise application. However, it may provide a heavier look and can highlight dry areas or fine lines if not blended well, which may detract from a natural makeup goal.

753.
754.
755.
756.
Each type has its place in a makeup bag, depending on your needs for portability, ease of use, and the desired finish on your skin.

It featured micro-crystal studs and sand pressed directly onto the fabric, shaped using the singer’s bodice as a mold. She took the theme of the “Sleeping Beauties: The Garden of Time” literally and even carried an hourglass as an accessory to the event.

781.
“It feels amazing. Like, I’m so excited to go inside and see all the pictures when I go home,” the singer said. Not only did the dress flare out into a mermaid train, but it sparkled even more as she walked because of the cameras’ flashing lights. Tyla also accessorized with crystal dangling earrings, a gold and silver necklace, and a few silver rings. The hourglass she brought also served as a ‘bag’ as she described it, though it had nothing inside but sand.

782.

784.
785.
The fashion brand shared a carousel on its Instagram account showing Tyla at the event. “You nailed it. She is this year’s best dressed on the theme!” one commented. Another fan also noted, “Seems simple but so extravagant. Great use of the earth element in such a unique way. Absolute favorite.”

True to the theme, Olivier Rousteing said they were inspired to transform a “transient material into an everlasting masterpiece.” He was overjoyed by the project’s result and praised the singer, saying he couldn’t think of a better woman to wear the ensemble.

The 22-year-old first emerged on the scene in 2019 but only gained international recognition for her 2023 single, “Water.” That same year, she won a Grammy. 828.
Kim Kardashian unsurprisingly surprised everyone, like she does each time she attends the Met Gala. On Monday (May 6), she walked the red carpet in a Maison Margiela Gown by John Galliano. It featured a silver corset rewoven from antique brocade that cinched at the waist. To go with the “Sleeping Beauties: The Garden of Time” theme, her floor-sweeping skirt had leaves, flowers, and lace details connected by a silver chain.

832.
According to a press release, the skirt had crystal pendants, pearls, and floral motifs cut from mirror fragments. Given that the look was already high jewelry, it’s understandable why Kardashian’s accessories were minimal. She was only wearing a diamond ring the night of the event.

Even her sister Khloe Kardashian couldn’t help but gush over the metallic ensemble, saying, “I am not well.”

883.
Her debut at the 2013 event, themed “Punk: Chaos to Couture,” remains unforgettable. Kardashian embraced her pregnancy with a floral-printed Givenchy gown paired with matching gloves, a look that sparked as much controversy as admiration. Reflecting on the night, she told Vogue in 2019, “There were all these memes about me and this couch,” acknowledging the outfit’s impact on pop culture.

884.
885.
886.
887.
In 2019, she made headlines in a custom Thierry Mugler “wet” dress, perfectly embodying the camp theme. Despite the gala’s hiatus in 2020, Kardashian returned in 2021, opting for a striking all-black Balenciaga gown. Each look reflects her affinity for body-conscious fashion and leaves a lasting impression on the red carpet.

888.
889.
890.
891.
Arguably, one of Kardashian’s most talked-about fashion moments came in 2023 when she adorned herself in over 50,000 pearls, creating a couture masterpiece by Daniel Roseberry at Schiaparelli. As the SKIMS founder continues to define her legacy at the Met Gala, her outfits reflect her personal style and her ability to embody the event’s thematic essence, ensuring her looks are both avant-garde and historically significant.

1143.
Wide-leg jeans have made a major comeback, riding the wave of revived fashion trends from past decades. Having a loose fit from thigh to hem, they offer a refreshing departure from the skinny styles that have dominated the industry for years. That being said, wide-leg jeans can be styled in numerous ways to suit different occasions, body types, and personal tastes.

1144.
1145.
1146.
1147.
If you’re wondering how to style wide-leg jeans, you’re in the right place. Styling them can seem daunting due to their distinct shape and volume, but with the right pairings, they can be incredibly versatile. Whether you’re dressing up for a night out or keeping it casual for a day at the park, there are plenty of ways to make these jeans work for any occasion.

1148.
1149.
1150.
1151.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through key tips on choosing the right fit, selecting tops that complement the jeans’ wide silhouette, and picking shoes that enhance the overall look.

1152.
1153.
1154.
1155.
Top Pairings

1156.
1157.
1158.
1159.
Choosing the right top to wear with wide-leg jeans is essential for creating a balanced and stylish outfit. Fitted tops work well to counterbalance the voluminous shape of the jeans. A simple fitted t-shirt or a snug sweater can streamline the upper body, making the outfit look well-proportioned. For a more dressed-up look, a tucked-in blouse or a crop top can accentuate the waist, enhancing the flattering high-rise of the jeans.

1160.
1161.
1162.
1163.
Layering adds versatility to wide-leg jeans. A cropped jacket or a tailored blazer can refine the whole look, adding structure to the flowing silhouette of the jeans. During colder months, an oversized sweater can be a cozy option that still maintains a chic aesthetic when paired correctly. It’s all about maintaining a balance between the upper and lower halves of your outfit to achieve a cohesive look.

1164.
1165.
1166.
1167.
When styling for different occasions, consider the fabric and color of your top. Lighter, breezier fabrics like cotton or linen are perfect for casual daytime settings, while silk or satin blouses elevate the jeans for evening wear. The color choice also plays a role; neutral tops allow the jeans to stand out, while bold or contrasting colors can create a more eye-catching ensemble.

1168.

1179.
The right footwear can enhance the look of wide-leg jeans by elongating the legs and complementing the overall silhouette. Ankle boots are a great choice, especially with a slight heel, as they help to lift the hem off the ground and prevent the jeans from dragging. This is particularly beneficial for creating a sleek, uninterrupted line that adds to the illusion of height.

1182.
1183.
For a more casual or retro vibe, platform shoes can make a statement while also giving you a height boost. The added height helps balance out the volume of the jeans, ensuring the proportions look flattering. If comfort is a priority, consider pairing your wide-leg jeans with sleek sneakers. Opt for a pair that offers a bit of lift, like those with a thicker sole, to maintain a balanced look.

1185.
1186.
1187.
In warmer weather, sandals or espadrilles can also work well with wide-leg jeans. Choose a style with some height, like a wedge or a platform, to keep the jeans from appearing too lengthy. The key is to find shoes that keep the jeans off the ground, preventing wear and tear on the fabric.

A statement belt is a practical and stylish addition that defines the waist, particularly useful with high-waisted styles. It not only adds a focal point but also enhances the jeans’ flattering silhouette by emphasizing a narrow waist.

1199.
Chunky necklaces or bold earrings can balance the voluminous nature of wide-leg jeans, drawing the eye upward and creating a harmonious visual flow. When choosing accessories, consider the occasion and the top you’re pairing with the jeans. For instance, a sleek leather belt and minimalist jewelry are perfect for a polished, professional look, while colorful beads or a large boho-style belt fit well for casual outings.

1203.
Bags also play a crucial role in complementing your outfit. A crossbody bag adds a laid-back, functional charm, perfect for daytime wear, while a chic clutch elevates the jeans for evening events. It goes without saying the size and style of the bag should match the overall tone of your outfit.

1221.
1222.
1223.
When selecting wide-leg jeans, consider your body shape to find the most flattering fit. If you’re petite, look for a high-waisted pair to lengthen your legs. Those with curvier figures might choose a style that fits snugly at the waist but flows out from the hips to balance their proportions. It’s also important to pay attention to the scale of the flare in relation to your height and build.

1239.
To elongate the legs when wearing wide-leg jeans, choose shoes with a bit of a heel, such as wedges, heeled boots, or block heels. The hem of the jeans should just graze the ground or your shoe to create a streamlined look. Pointed-toe shoes can also help extend the line of the leg, making you appear taller.
