Hello Windows Insiders, today we are releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26200.5600 (KB5058493) to the Dev Channel.
Changes in Dev Channel builds and updates are documented in two buckets: new features, improvements, and fixes that are being gradually rolled out for Insiders who have turned on the toggle to get the latest updates as they are available (via Settings > Windows Update*) and then new features, improvements, and fixes rolling out to everyone in the Dev Channel. For more information, see the Reminders section at the bottom of this blog post.

New Copilot+ PC experiences

Intelligent text actions in Click to Do for AMD and Intel™-powered Copilot+ PCs

We’re introducing more intelligent text actions to enhance your Click to Do experience even further on AMD and Intel™-powered Copilot+ PCs. Use WIN key + mouse-click or WIN + Q to select a text block and then drag to select the text that you want. You’ll see options to Summarize, Create a bulleted list, or to help you Rewrite your text, so it sounds more causal, more formal, or more polished.
[caption id="attachment_177861" align="alignnone" width="1920"] More intelligent text actions in Click to Do with options to Summarize, Create a bulleted list, or Rewrite.[/caption]
Click to Do leverages the capabilities of Phi Silica, the on-device Small Language Model (SLM) that is built right into Windows. Results from our local model will show directly inline and if you’re happy with the rewrites you can copy them directly to your clipboard for use anywhere.
The intelligent text actions are available when your default language is set to English, at least 10 words are selected, and you’re signed in with either a Microsoft account or Microsoft Entra account. You can learn more about using Click to Do here.
FEEDBACK: Please file feedback in Feedback Hub (WIN + F) under Desktop Environment > Click to Do.

Changes and Improvements gradually being rolled out to the Dev Channel with toggle on*

[Click to Do (Preview)]

For Windows Insiders using French or Spanish as their primary language on their PC, Click to Do will temporarily only provide Summarize, Create a bulleted list, Refine as intelligent text actions. Rewrite and its options, including Refine, will return in a future update.

[Dynamic Lighting]

Dynamic Lighting compatible devices can now be safely removed using the "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" taskbar icon.

[Settings]

The new agent in Settings experience is currently beginning to roll out to Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel first and once the right ML models are set up for the Dev Channel, we will begin rolling this experience out in the Dev Channel with a future flight.

We’re making it easy to find answers to comSat questions about your PC and Windows 11 with a dedicated FAQs section on the Settings > System > About page, providing quick and helpful insights for using your PC all in one place. Whether you’re curious about system configuration, performance, or compatibility, this experience ensures you get the information you need for the frequently asked questions for those topics. We hope these FAQs will help you make informed decisions about your PC with ease.

Fixes gradually being rolled out to the Dev Channel with toggle on*

[Start menu]

Fixed a few crashes impacting Start menu reliability for Insiders in recent flights.

[File Explorer]

Fixed a deadlock which could occur when loading File Explorer Home, causing it to hang.

Fixed an issue where Shared by and Activity information was missing in the tooltip when hovering over recent documents in File Explorer Home.

Fixed an issue which could cause explorer.exe to crash when closing File Explorer.

[Voice Access]

Fixed an issue which was causing voice access crashes when using Spanish.

[Taskbar]

Fixed an issue where when using Tab and Shift + Tab to move keyboard focus around the taskbar, if you went backwards at least once you could get keyboard focus stuck on the taskbar frame, which would potentially lead screen readers to just say “pane”.

Fixed an issue which could cause the media controls in the preview windows for apps in the taskbar (that support it) to flicker.

[Windows Spotlight]

Fixed an issue where the Windows Spotlight flyout for “learn more about this picture” (when using it as your desktop background) might get stuck above other app windows.

[Live captions]

Fixed an issue causing live captions to crash in the previous build.

[Other]

Improved the colors used in MMC when items are selected, both generally, and when contrast modes are enabled.

Fixed an underlying issue which could make some apps like Word hang when trying to print.

Known issues

[General]

After you do a PC reset under Settings > System > Recovery, your build version may incorrectly show as Build 26100 instead of Build 26200. This will not prevent you from getting future Beta Channel updates, which will resolve this issue.

[NEW] The option to reset your PC under Settings > System > Recovery will not work on this build.

[Xbox Controllers]

Some Insiders are experiencing an issue where using their Xbox Controller via Bluetooth is causing their PC to bugcheck. Here is how to resolve the issue. Open Device Manager by searching for it via the search box on your taskbar. Once Device Manager is open, click on "View" and then "Devices by Driver". Find the driver named "oemXXX.inf (XboxGameControllerDriver.inf)" where the "XXX" will be a specific number on your PC. Right-click on that driver and click "Uninstall".

[Recall (Preview)]

[REMINDER] You are always in control and can always choose to remove Recall anytime via “Turn Windows features on or off”. Removing Recall will delete entry points and binaries. Like any feature, Windows sometimes keeps temporary copies of binaries for serviceability. These Recall binaries are not executable and are eventually removed over time.

[REMINDER] Make sure you update Microsoft 365 apps to the latest version so you can jump back into specific documents.

[Click to Do (Preview)]

[REMINDER] The intelligent text actions are now locally moderated to ensure the safety of prompts and responses and has replaced the cloud endpoint. Now that these intelligent text actions are fully local, they are also available in Click to Do in Recall.

[REMINDER] If any of your actions on image entities are no longer appearing, please ensure you have the latest updates for the Photos and Paint app from the Microsoft Store.

The following known issues will be fixed in future updates to Windows Insiders:

[NEW] Image actions may not show up in Click to Do.

[NEW] Windows Insiders on AMD or Intel™-powered Copilot+ PCs may experience long wait times on the first attempt to perform intelligent text actions in Click to Do after a new build or model update.

[NEW] For Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel, Click to Do's intelligent text actions may not offer support for Spanish or French.

[Improved Windows Search]

[REMINDER] For improved Windows Search on Copilot+ PCs, it is recommended that you plug in your Copilot+ PC for the initial search indexing to get completed. You can check your search indexing status under Settings > Privacy & security > Searching Windows.

[Start menu]

We’re investigating reports that clicking your profile picture isn’t opening the Account Manager for some Insiders after the last flight.

[Task Manager]

After adding the new CPU Utility column, you may notice that System Idle Process always shows as 0.

The CPU graphs in the Performance page are still using the old CPU utility calculations.

[Narrator]

[NEW] We are investigating an issue where the richer image descriptions on your Copilot+ PC with Narrator do not work.

[Voice Access]

[NEW] We are investigating an issue where support for more descriptive and flexible language on Copilot+ PCs does not work as expected.

Entra ID support for AI features in Paint and Notepad

We are rolling out Entra ID support for AI features in Paint (version 11.2503.381.0 and higher) and Notepad (version 11.2503.16.0 and higher) to Windows Insiders on IT-managed PCs in the Canary, Dev, and Beta Channels. This update enables commercial customers to access AI features that were previously limited to consumers. In Paint, Entra ID unlocks access to Cocreator, which generates images by combining a sketch and text prompt and Generative Fill, which adds new elements to selected areas of a canvas based on descriptive input. These tools help teams explore ideas visually and speed up creative workflows. In Notepad, Entra ID unlocks the ability to quickly summarize or rewrite text content.

Reminders for Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel

Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel receive updates based on Windows 11, version 24H2 via an enablement package (Build 26200.xxxx).

Updates delivered to the Dev Channel are in a format that offers a preview of enhancements to servicing technology on Windows 11, version 24H2. To learn more, see https://aka.ms/CheckpointCumulativeUpdates.

Many features in the Dev Channel are rolled out using Control Feature Rollout technology, starting with a subset of Insiders and ramping up over time as we Satitor feedback to see how they land before pushing them out to everyone in this channel.

For Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel who want to be the first to get features gradually rolled out to you, you can turn ON the toggle to get the latest updates as they are available via Settings > Windows Update*. Over time, we will increase the rollouts of features to everyone with the toggle turned on. Should you keep this toggle off, new features will gradually be rolled out to your PC over time once they are ready.

Features and experiences included in these builds may never get released as we try out different concepts and get feedback. Features may change over time, be removed, or replaced and never get released beyond Windows Insiders. Some of these features and experiences could show up in future Windows releases when they’re ready.

Some features in active development we preview with Windows Insiders may not be fully localized and localization will happen over time as features are finalized. As you see issues with localization in your language, please report those issues to us via Feedback Hub.

Please note that some accessibility features may not work with features like Recall and Click to Do while in preview with Windows Insiders.

Because the Dev and Beta Channels represent parallel development paths from our engineers, there may be cases where features and experiences show up in the Beta Channel first.

Check out Flight Hub for a complete look at what build is in which Insider channel.

Thanks,
Amanda & Brandon

Introducing the new agent in Settings

Last week, we announced a change to Settings designed to help solve one of the most comSat frustrations we heard: finding and changing settings on your PC. With this update to Settings, you will be able to simply describe what you need help with like, “how to control my PC by voice” or “my mouse pointer is too small” and the agent will recommend the right steps you can take to address the issue. An agent uses AI on your PC to understand your intent and with your permission, automate and execute tasks on your behalf. This experience is rolling out to Windows Insiders on Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ PCs with support for AMD- and Intel™-powered PCs coming soon. Please note that this experience works if your primary display language is set to English.

Reminders for Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel

Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel on Windows 11, version 24H2 will receive updates based on Windows 11, version 24H2 via an enablement package (Build 26120.xxxx).

Updates delivered to the Beta Channel are in a format that offers a preview of enhancements to servicing technology on Windows 11, version 24H2. To learn more, see https://aka.ms/CheckpointCumulativeUpdates.

Many features in the Beta Channel are rolled out using Controlled Feature Rollout technology, starting with a subset of Insiders and ramping up over time as we Satitor feedback to see how they land before pushing them out to everyone in this channel.

For Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel who want to be the first to get features gradually rolled out to you, you can turn ON the toggle to get the latest updates as they are available via Settings > Windows Update*.

Hello Windows Insiders, we are beginning to roll out an update today for the Microsoft Copilot app on Windows via the Microsoft Store which introduces the following changes and improvements to Copilot Vision on Windows:
Highlights: Now when you share a single browser or app window using Copilot Vision, Copilot can guide, navigate, and coach you to complete a specific task using visual cues. Just ask Copilot to “show me how”, and Copilot will highlight where in the shared browser or app to click to help you accomplish your task. Today, Highlights works with a single app. Press the stop button to stop the Copilot highlights and resume your normal Vision session. Here are some examples of things to try:

Share your Settings window and ask Copilot “Show me how to turn on night light.”

Share your favorite productivity app and ask Copilot “Show me how to add a footer.”

Share your favorite video editing app and ask Copilot “Show me how to add text to my video.”

[caption id="attachment_177854" align="alignnone" width="2560"] Copilot Vision on Windows highlights – “Show me how to get started to create a video in Clipchamp”.[/caption]
2-app support: Copilot Vision on Windows now supports sharing up to two applications. Copilot can then help analyze, offer insights, and answer your questions across the shared apps. For example, share the apps for your backpacking adventure packing list and an online list, and ask Copilot “Is there anything missing from my packing list, compared to the online list?”
To get started with Copilot Vision on Windows click the glasses icon in your composer, select which browser window or app you want to share, and ask Copilot to help with whatever you’re working on. To stop sharing, press ‘Stop’ or ‘X’ in the composer.
This Copilot app update (version 1.25044.92.0 and higher) is beginning to roll out across all Insider Channels via the Microsoft Store. Currently Copilot Vision on Windows, including highlights and 2-app support is available to Insiders in the U.S. The above-mentioned features are gradually rolling out so not all Insiders will get the update right away. We are excited to be previewing improvements with our Insiders to ensure all our customers have a great Copilot experience on Windows.
FEEDBACK: Please provide feedback directly within the Copilot app by clicking on your profile icon and choosing “Give feedback”.
Thanks,

https://youtu.be/WUwK1Xux2J0
AI has moved from promise to reality — reshaping how organizations operate and make decisions. As today’s most advanced AI models intersect with growing economic pressures, the need for secure, high-performance, AI-ready Windows 11 PCs has never been greater.
At Microsoft, we’re committed to helping businesses unlock the full potential of AI. Last year, we introduced Copilot+ PCs: the fastest, most intelligent and most secure Windows PCs ever built. Designed to leverage both local and cloud-based AI.
We’ve been listening closely to our customers — especially IT decision-makers and business leaders — who are asking for more portable devices that empower employees to stay productive and secure, whether they’re in the office, at home or on the go.
Today, we’re expanding the Surface for Business Copilot+ PC portfolio with two new additions: the 12-inch Surface Pro and the 13-inch Surface Laptop.
Both devices are powered by the Snapdragon X Plus processor with an integrated NPU (neural processing unit) delivering 45 TOPs (trillion operations per second) of local AI processing power, and are designed for mobility — bringing the performance, battery life and security of a Copilot+ PC to even more portable and versatile form factors.

Surface Laptop for Business, 13-inch

https://youtu.be/v7T2mIKVpAk
Designed with mobility in mind, the new 13-inch Surface Laptop delivers powerful performance in our most portable design yet. It’s thinner, lighter and features the longest battery life of any Surface device, with up to 23 hours of video playback and 16 hours of active web browsing[i] helping employees stay productive on the move without worrying about outlets or chargers.
The new Surface Laptop has up to 50% faster performance[ii], double the battery life[iii] and more USB ports than Surface Laptop 5, making it easier to stay productive from anywhere. Knowing that work needs to happen in a variety of environments, the brilliant anti-reflective touchscreen ensures readability in all kinds of lighting conditions, while the durable aluminum chassis — tested against real-world scenarios — provides the strength and reliability today’s workforce demands. Designed for Surface accessories like the STM Dux Shell Case and UAG Plyo Series Case offer drop-tested durability without adding bulk[iv].
The new Surface Laptop also delivers an exceptional video calling experience, highlighting why Surface continues to lead as the best endpoint for Microsoft Teams. It features an AI-enhanced 1080p front-facing camera — our best yet in a Surface Laptop — combined with Auto HDR, AI Noise Reduction and Windows Studio Effects to help employees show up clearly and professionally on every call. Plus, with up to 10 hours of battery life on a Microsoft Teams video call, employees can stay connected and productive even during long meetings.[v]
With performance, portability and durability built in, the new Surface Laptop helps organizations equip their teams for the pace of modern work.

Surface Pro for Business, 12-inch

https://youtu.be/1_0kPRacAoY
The new 12-inch Surface Pro is the thinnest and lightest Copilot+ PC yet — delivering 50% faster performance[vi], and double the battery life of Surface Pro 9. With up to 16 hours of local video playback and 12 hours of active web browsing, it helps teams stay productive from the first meeting to the last.[vii]
It’s a device as versatile as your team, designed to adapt to almost any environment with features like an adjustable kickstand and a brilliant anti-reflective display. Accessories designed for Surface meet the needs of a wide range of industries and scenarios — including rugged cases, Point-of-Sale solutions and privacy screens from partners like Kensington, The Joy Factory and UAG.[iv]
As a tablet, it’s designed to get real work done with Windows and Microsoft 365. Employees can dictate ideas with voice input, flip through reports with touch and instantly take notes with their pen[viii] — now stored and charged securely on the back of the device.
The new Surface Pro also supports a full desktop experience for even more productivity. Attach the new Surface Pro 12-inch Keyboard[viii] for an incredible typing and touchpad experience, and use a dock to connect dual 4K Satitors[ix] and all the accessories teams rely on throughout the day.
With laptop-to-tablet versatility and the ability to run full Microsoft 365 apps, Surface Pro can replace the need to provide employees with both a MacBook and an iPad.

Secure by design and by default

In line with Microsoft’s Secure Future Initiative, security is our top priority. As Secured-core PCs, the new Surface Laptop and Surface Pro are designed to be secure by default. Windows 11 Pro, our most secure operating system yet, protects against phishing, malware, ransomware and other threats with advanced security tools and technologies.
With Windows Hello for Business, organizations can better protect against credential theft using advanced authentication safeguards — providing better peace of mind. The new Surface Laptop comes equipped with a fingerprint reader, while the new Surface Pro uses facial recognition with the built-in Windows Hello Camera. Additionally, the Surface Pro features a built-in NFC reader that supports security keys like the YubiKey 5C NFC, enabling fast, passwordless sign-in with phishing-resistant multi-factor authentication.
Beyond Windows, every layer of a Surface device, from chip to cloud, is maintained and protected by Microsoft, providing customers with ultimate control, proactive protection and peace of mind.
This commitment to security, privacy and responsible device design is resonating with customers. According to survey respondents, Microsoft Surface, despite the small customer base represented in this survey, showed customer-perceived strength in security, privacy and ESG, taking the highest score within each of these categories of the IDC Enterprise PC Trust Perception Index, 2025.[x]
Copilot+ PCs feature the Microsoft Pluton security processor, a chip-to-cloud technology embedded directly into the CPU, ensuring Zero Trust principles at the core. Pluton protects sensitive information like passwords, user identities and encryption keys, acting as a secure vault within the computer. Pluton receives regular updates directly from Microsoft, ensuring it always has the latest security features and protections against evolving threats.

Unlock efficiency with AI experiences

https://youtu.be/QLqgWZtHFEA
The new Surface Laptop and Surface Pro are Copilot+ PCs designed to help teams work faster and smarter. With features including Copilot on Windows 11 and Microsoft 365 Copilot, these devices help your team quickly uncover solutions, summarize long documents, find relevant information and visualize data efficiently.
One of the biggest challenges organizations face today is productivity lost due to the time spent searching for files, content and settings. The newly improved Windows search uses semantic indexing and local AI compute, so you can simply type what you’re looking for in your own words across files, photos and settings[xi]. This allows you to find and relocate images with ease — up to 70% faster compared to traditional search on a Windows 10 PC[xii].
For example, users can find images by typing “factory floor,” locate documents by describing their content like “Team budget” or adjust settings by asking to “fix your speakers.”
This capability helps organizations reclaim valuable time and can reduce the number of help-desk tickets that IT departments need to manage.

Easier to manage

Our commitment to IT professionals goes beyond performance and security — we’re focused on making device management simpler, more intuitive and more efficient from the start.
Both the new Surface Laptop and Surface Pro now feature QR codes etched directly onto the device, making it easy for IT teams to scan and retrieve serial numbers at a glance. No more manually entering long codes or struggling to read tiny print — just a quick scan for faster, more accurate asset management.
That same focus on simplicity extends to the Surface Management Portal in Microsoft Intune. Built to give IT teams detailed visibility into their Surface fleet, the portal enables proactive Satitoring, streamlined updates and issue resolution before problems escalate.
And now, with Security Copilot integrated into Surface Management Portal — available today in public preview — IT pros can ask Copilot to generate reports, uncover insights and get the information they need in seconds. It’s another example of how we’re designing Surface to save IT teams’ time and make managing devices easier at scale.

Embracing sustainability

In 2020, Microsoft committed to becoming carbon negative, water positive and zero waste by 2030. The new Surface Laptop and Surface Pro represent significant steps forward in this journey, as they are built with a focus on waste reduction and device repairability.
Both the Surface Laptop and Surface Pro are designed with sustainability in mind, featuring 100% recycled cobalt in their battery cells[xiii], reinforcing Microsoft's sustainable sourcing efforts to conserve rare materials. These devices are built for high performance and energy efficiency — exceeding industry standards. Surface Pro performs 48% better than the ENERGY STAR efficiency baseline, while Surface Laptop goes even further, outperforming it by 62%.[xiv]
Additionally, these devices are designed with circularity in mind to reduce e-waste. Almost all components are designed to be easily replaced by skilled technicians or authorized service providers[xv], ensuring that the devices can be maintained and repaired efficiently.

Inclusive by design

At Surface, we believe that every employee deserves to work comfortably. That's why we design inclusive features on every device. Surface Copilot+ PCs combine software and hardware experiences, empowering users to personalize their devices while enabling IT admins to create customized solutions for each employee.
For instance, the adaptive touch mode on the Surface Pro 12-inch Keyboard and the new Surface Laptop 13-inch touchpad allows users with varying mobility and dexterity levels to personalize their touchpad settings to better suit their individual needs.
The new Surface Pro 12-inch Keyboard also features an optional bold keyset with larger font, higher contrast and backlighting, making the keys easier to see.[xvi]
We also work with developers to unlock new ways for people to interact with their PC that matches their unique needs. For example, Cephable[xvii] is a powerful application that taps into the NPU on Copilot+ PCs and uses local AI processing to enable control through voice, head motions and expressions using the Studio Cameras, and Studio Microphones on the new Surface Laptop and Surface Pro.

New Surface for Business devices ship July 22

Available starting July 22 in select markets, the new 13-inch Surface Laptop and 12-inch Surface Pro expand the Surface for Business Copilot+ PC lineup — giving you even more flexibility to equip every employee with the right device for their role.
With Windows 10 end of support approaching on Oct. 14, 2025, now is the perfect time to transition to Windows 11 and Copilot+ PCs for the most modern and secure computing experience. Today, Microsoft and Surface expand the Copilot+ PC family with the new Surface Laptop, 13-inch and Surface Pro,12-inch, designed with performance and portability in mind. Last May, we introduced a new category of devices — Copilot+ PCs, the fastest, most intelligent Windows PCs ever, with our flagship Surface Laptop and Surface Pro representing the ultimate Copilot+ PCs from Microsoft. Copilot+ PCs are lightning fast, responsive devices with long battery life, built to be secure by design and by default, and unlock exclusive AI experiences, running locally thanks to the Neural Processing Unit in their advanced processors. Windows continues to invest in Copilot+ PCs, with a new agent in settings and new Copilot+ PC experiences announced today — rolling out first to Windows Insiders. Today, we are proud to introduce two new Surface Copilot+ PCs, powered by Snapdragon[i] X Plus processors, that deliver great experiences for great value. You now have more options to choose the right Surface Copilot+ PC to fit your needs.

“We are excited to continue to partner with Microsoft as we expand the Snapdragon Copilot+ PC ecosystem to include Surface Laptop and Surface Pro. Both devices are powered by Snapdragon X Plus (8-core) and a 45 TOPS NPU, delivering the performance, speed and battery life customers expect, alongside exclusive AI experiences designed to streamline workflows and help users focus on what matters most.” — Kedar Kondap, SVP & GM of Compute and Gaming at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.

Introducing the all-new Surface Laptop, 13-inch: A Copilot+ PC designed for the way you work and live

Available starting May 20, 2025, starting at $899
The Surface Laptop, 13-inch is our thinnest and lightest Surface Laptop yet — crafted for portability, built for performance and enhanced with the power of AI. The new Surface Laptop is smaller than a standard notebook, making it effortless to slip into your bag and take anywhere. It features a premium anodized aluminum chassis and comes in three stunning colors[ii]: Ocean, Violet and Platinum. To complete the look, you can pair your device with the Surface Arc Mouse, our most beloved and best-selling mouse, which is now available in matching Ocean and Violet[iii].
Powered by the Snapdragon X Plus processor including an integrated 45 TOPS (trillion operations per second) NPU, the new Surface Laptop is 50% faster than Surface Laptop 5[iv] and outpaces the MacBook Air M3[v]. It’s incredibly snappy and responsive, giving you all the speed you need to do more.
The new Surface Laptop delivers the longest battery life of any Surface, with up to 23 hours of video playback and up to 16 hours of active web browsing, allowing you to work from anywhere, without the need to plug in[vi]. With universal USB-C fast charging, it's never been easier to stay powered up on the go[vii].
The experience is elevated in every detail. A vibrant 13-inch full HD touchscreen display is framed by ultra-thin bezels, drawing you in whether you’re working, streaming or creating. The built-in AI-enhanced camera with Auto Video HDR and AI noise reduction ensures you look and sound your best in any environment.
Typing is quiet and comfortable, with a keyboard designed for all-day productivity. The fingerprint reader built into the power button enables seamless, secure sign-in, while the new Copilot key puts the power of AI right at your fingertips[viii]. With a customizable precision touchpad featuring adaptive touch mode, navigation feels natural and intuitive.
Surface continues to deliver sustainability advancements. The new Surface Laptop contains 100% recycled cobalt in the battery cell and 100% recycled rare earth metals in the magnets[ix]. Many components can be replaced by authorized service providers or skilled technicians — supporting a more repairable, circular approach to device design[x].

New Surface Pro, 12-inch: The thinnest and lightest Copilot+ PC yet

Available starting May 20, 2025, starting at $799
The all-new Surface Pro maintains the iconic versatility of the 2-in-1 form factor, providing the functionality of a laptop and the portability of a tablet, with the help of its built-in adjustable kickstand and detachable keyboard. Surface Slim Pen now magnetically attaches to the back of the tablet for charging and secure storage, ready for you when you need it. The new Surface Pro is built with creativity in mind, allowing you to type, write and draw, all on one device.
Also powered by the Snapdragon X Plus processor with an integrated and powerful 45 TOPS NPU, this new Surface Pro is fast and smooth with all-day battery life, delivered in a 1.5 pound package[xi] that can fit in your small bag.
The reimagined Surface Pro 12-inch Keyboard transforms your Surface Pro into a laptop. The new keyboard attaches easily and lies flat for a grounded and quiet typing experience. It features a smooth-matte palm rest for comfort and durability, a full-size backlit keyset and customizable precision touchpad with adaptive touch mode. The new keyboard now folds back completely flat against the Surface Pro, so you can sketch or write comfortably. With dedicated keys like the Copilot key and lock key, you have all the functions you need, right at your fingertips. The Surface Pro 12-inch Keyboard is available in three beautiful new colors to complement your Pro: Slate, Ocean and Violet.
Designed with sustainability in mind, the Surface Pro contains 82.9% recycled content in the enclosure and is the first Pro to contain 100% recycled cobalt in the battery cell[xii]. Pro is also designed to help reduce e-waste with many components designed to be replaced by skilled technicians or authorized service providers[x].

Windows has always been for doers. As we debut the newest Surface devices designed for a new generation, we're also excited to share the next wave of Windows experiences to help you get more done.
We believe that everyone should be empowered to achieve more on a Windows PC. That starts with exploring how we can make our experiences more intuitive, more accessible and ultimately more useful.
When I think about how we innovate on Windows, our team is driven by three principles:

We believe technology should adapt to you, not the other way around. As we continue to deliver new and unique experiences, we will increasingly seek to personalize features to your needs, with your permission, understanding your preferences to deliver a richer and more consistent experience.

We believe experiences should be meaningfully useful, and fundamentally trustworthy. Our features are customer focused and purpose-driven, addressing the real problems users face most. Before we even build, our features undergo rigorous assessments for safety, security and privacy.

We seek to solve the hardest problems users face on their PC. We are committed to going beyond incremental improvements to reimagine how Windows can empower people in new and groundbreaking ways on the devices they turn to when things matter most.

So, whether you're a student juggling a full course-load, an early-in-career professional trying to get ahead or a creative looking for professional-grade design tools built in free with your PC, Windows has something for you, which is why I’m excited to share the latest in innovation on Windows today.
Let’s talk about what’s new and coming soon for Windows 11 and Copilot+ PCs.

Copilot+ PC experiences coming to Windows Insiders

Copilot+ PCs are the fastest, most intelligent and most secure Windows PCs ever built.
We recently made improved Windows search, Recall (preview), Click to Do (preview), and more generally available across Copilot+ PCsi, so you can find what you’re looking for, pick up where you left off, and do more with less time and hassle.
Today, we’re sharing even more feature functionality coming soon to Copilot+ PCs — rolling out first to Windows Insiders over the next Satth.

Adding an agent to Settings

https://youtu.be/DeCG9-PYG2U
We've heard that our changes to Settings in Windows 11, like the left-hand navigation and the new homepage, have made Settings more usable and easier to find what you are looking for.
We’ve also heard that you would like to have more help to find and directly change settings or troubleshoot your PC. What if you could simply describe the change you want, in your own words, and get a fix instead?
We set out to solve one of the most comSat frustrations we hear — finding and changing settings on your PC — using the power of agents. An agent uses on-device AI to understand your intent and with your permission, automate and execute tasks.
With this update to Settings, you will be able to simply describe what you need help with like, “how to control my PC by voice” or “my mouse pointer is too small” and the agent will recommend the right steps you can take to address the issue.ii
With your permission and at your initiation, it can even complete the actions to change your settings on your behalf.
This experience will first become available to Windows Insiders on Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ PCs and is coming soon to Windows Insiders on AMD- and Intel-powered devices. Only English language inputs will be supported initially.

More actions coming to Click to Do and improved Windows search

https://youtu.be/zSlFNRv4JAM
73% of consumers report they’re using AI to get more done and feel productiveiii. Click to Do helps you stay in the flow with shortcuts from any text or image you see on your screen. From copying text from an image, to summarizing text, or even quickly removing objects or the background from an image, Click to Do cuts through context-switching, bringing actions directly into your workflow. More actions are starting to roll out in Click to Do, including the option to create a bulleted list from selected text.
Soon for Windows Insiders, you will be able to use Ask Copilot to act on your text or image, or even leverage the power of Microsoft 365 Copilot to draft content in Microsoft Word. You will be able to use Click to Do to engage a Reading Coach to practice reading selected text aloud, or use Immersive Reader to enhance your reading experience. You will even be able to use Click to Do to quickly schedule a meeting or fire off a chat in Microsoft Teams from a recognized email all without interrupting your work, or send the details of a table on screen directly to Microsoft Excel, saving you time and reducing the effort to get things done.
There are multiple ways to start Click to Do, including Windows key + mouse click, Windows key + Q, as well as via the Start menu and Snipping Tool. Click to Do also supports hardware-specific options like double clicking your pen on your pen-capable device or swiping from the right with your pen or finger on your touch screen.
New text and image actions such as Ask Copilot, Practice in Reading Coach, and Read with Immersive Reader are available now to Windows Insiders, with Schedule a meeting with Teams, Send a message with Teams, Ask M365 Copilot, Convert to table with Excel, and Draft with Copilot in Word coming to Windows Insiders later this Satth.
We are also continuing to enhance and expand improved Windows search, helping you find what you are looking for in more places. Coming to Windows Insiders later this Satth, we're introducing the ability to find Windows settings and to quickly find and install apps from the Microsoft Store. We're also bringing the same powerful search to the Photos app, making it faster and easier to find specific photos in your collection.

New capabilities in Photos, Paint and Snipping tool

Copilot+ PCs are the only PCs where you can find professional-grade AI editing tools included with no subscription required. As many as 75% of consumers today are using AI to have fun and be creative, so whether you’re a hobby creator or going pro, you can find all the tools you need on Windows 11.iv
Today, we’re introducing several new features to Photos, Paint and Snipping tool to make it even easier to edit and create.

Photos relight

https://youtu.be/ZyIp232fv_A
New to the Microsoft Photos app, relight adds dynamic lighting controls to pictures on your Copilot+ PC. Position up to three light sources, set their color and move a focus point that all lights automatically follow. Brightness and intensity controls provide additional finetuning to achieve the desired effect. For quicker edits, built-in presets offer ready-made lighting styles that can be applied with a single click. Relight simplifies complex lighting adjustments into a visual, intuitive experience for correcting poor lighting or applying creative effects.
Photos relight will first become available to Windows Insiders on Snapdragon X Series Copilot+ PCs with support for AMD- and Intel-powered devices coming later this year.

Paint sticker generator

New to the Paint app on Copilot+ PCs, sticker generator creates custom digital stickers from a simple text prompt.v Type a short phrase to generate ready-to-use stickers that can be added to the canvas, copied into documents or shared in chats. It’s a quick way to add creative, personalized visuals without needing to draw them manually. Paint sticker generator will be available to Windows Insiders later this Satth.

Paint object select

Use the power of AI to make your Paint creations even easier to edit — with object select, you can pinpoint specific elements on the canvas to select and make edits instantly.
Object select uses context-aware selection to highlight and isolate individual elements on the canvas. Quickly select objects for targeted edits like moving, erasing or applying generative fill, without manually tracing or outlining. The tool streamlines detailed editing by understanding the structure of your image, making precise adjustments faster and more intuitive. Object select will be available to Windows Insiders later this Satth.

Snipping tool perfect screenshot

https://youtu.be/Nja0P6E0_tA
Perfect screenshot automatically adjusts the capture area to tightly frame on-screen content, reducing the need for post-capture cropping. When activated, the tool uses a rectangular selection that analyzes the visible screen and snaps around the most prominent content in view. It provides crop handles for optional fine-tuning and is designed to make captures cleaner and more efficient with minimal effort.
Alongside perfect screenshot, Snipping tool is also introducing two new capture tools: text extractor allows users to extract and copy text directly from images and screenshots, while color picker enables capturing exact color values from anywhere on screen. These additional tools make it easier to work with text and design elements, giving users more flexibility when editing or sharing captured content.
In addition to new features in the inbox suite, this update includes improvements to the underlying diffusion-based model to deliver better results faster. This updated model is used in Cocreator and generative fill in Paint, as well as image creator and restyle image in Photos.vi You can explore these enhancements in Paint and Photos starting today. And, with built-in moderation, it’s a creative experience you can trust.

Accessibility

In March, we made flexible commands in Voice Access available to Snapdragon X Series Copilot+ PCs, so users can communicate using more descriptive and flexible language.
Now, Narrator is receiving an update designed to further enhance the accessibility and intuitiveness of Windows on Copilot+ PCs.
Narrator now offers rich image descriptions, which provide detailed context for visuals including charts, photos and UI elements. This feature assists blind and low-vision users in understanding content that lacks alternative text.
By pressing the Narrator key + Ctrl + D, Narrator will read out a contextual description of the image, describing people, objects, colors, text and numbers. These updates significantly improve user interaction with Windows through enhanced speech and screen reading capabilities.
Rich image descriptions in Narrator are available now to Windows Insiders on Snapdragon X Series Copilot+ PCs and coming soon to Windows Insiders on AMD- and Intel-powered devices.

New Windows 11 experiences available soon

For Windows 11 users, we’ll also be delivering several new experiences, first available to Windows Insiders over the coming Satth.

New Start menu with phone companion

https://youtu.be/KhhCJ_XNqyo
Start is getting personal – with more options to customize and organize your apps. The new all apps category view automatically sorts based on the apps and categories you use most, so you can quickly access all your favorites. And now with the phone companion in Start, your connected Android or iOS device is only a click away.vii

AI actions in File Explorer

With AI actions in File Explorer, you can interact more deeply with your files, right clicking to quickly take actions like summarizing content or editing images. Similar to Click to Do, AI actions in File Explorer allow you to stay in your flow while leveraging the power of AI to take advantage of editing tools in apps like Paint and Photos and Copilot functionality across Microsoft 365 without having to open your file.

Notepad

Notepad is gaining new capabilities that make it easier to generate, organize and format content.viii The new write function creates text from a prompt, helping users quickly build ideas or get started on a draft. Summarize condenses longer content into a concise overview for easier review. Notepad is also introducing lightweight formatting, including bold and italic styling, and support for simple lists and headings. The experience supports Markdown style input and files for users who prefer to work directly with the lightweight markup language.

Copilot on Windows

https://youtu.be/GaoMIpqJSBo
The Copilot on Windows app is bringing even more ways to interact with your AI companion right to the taskbar.
Copilot Vision on Windows, available now to Windows Insiders and generally available soon, allows you to share any browser or app window with Copilot.
Copilot can then help analyze, offer insights or answer your questions, coaching you through it aloud. Copilot Vision on Windows will first roll out to users in the U.S.
For Windows Insiders, you can also take advantage of Press to Talk — a long press of the Copilot key to engage voice. And soon, we are introducing the ability to invoke Copilot with the phrase “Hey, Copilot!” — this new ability will be fully opt-in and is starting with Windows Insiders while we test and learn.

Better 3rd party experiences leveraging NPU

We are continuously partnering with new Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) and welcoming them to leverage our platform capabilities and the power of the Neural Processing Unit (NPU) to benefit from ultra-low latency, higher performance and enhanced security with data staying on the device.
We are excited that Moises Live by Music.AI sets a new standard in real-time audio separation and control, such as isolating the volumes of percussion, vocals and other elements, enhancing the music learning and practicing experience. The experience is 35 times faster on the Snapdragon X NPU compared to the CPU.
Gigapixel AI by Topaz Labs revolutionizes the way you upscale images, allowing you to enlarge and enhance images up to 16 times their original size while maintaining high quality and detail.
Other AI apps that have been developed by leveraging the NPU include Capcut, DJay Pro, Davinci Resolve, Camo, Cephable and Liquidtext. These apps showcase the versatility and power of Microsoft's NPU in enhancing AI-driven functionalities across various domains, from video editing and music production to accessibility and note-taking and many more.

New Microsoft Store on Windows experiencesix

There’s even more to love in the Microsoft Store, starting with Windows Insiders.
Get started in the AI Hub – where you can check out the latest experiences for your new Copilot+ PC.
In the updated home section, you will now see personalized recommendations. If you’re looking to learn about new apps and games, Copilot is now available directly in the Store to ask questions while you’re browsing product pages — we are also adding badges on product pages to help you easily tell which apps are built exclusively for Copilot+ PCs and which experiences leverage AI.

Hello Windows Insiders, today we are releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26200.5581 (KB5055651) to the Dev Channel.

New features gradually being rolled out to the Dev Channel with toggle on*

Energy saver now available in Microsoft Intune

We are bringing the ability to manage energy saver in Windows 11 to Microsoft Intune to allow IT administrators to control the energy saver settings on Windows 11 PCs through group policies and Mobile Device Management (MDM) configurations.
This feature, when enabled, intelligently balances your battery use, so it can last longer between charges. It extends battery life by managing power usage efficiently. It limits background activity and reduces screen brightness, ensuring that devices consume less power while maintaining optimal performance. By automatically managing system processes and power usage, the energy saver group policy helps reduce overall energy consumption. This not only saves costs but also contributes to environmental sustainability.
IT administrators can activate the policy by using either method below:

Local Group Policy Editor in Windows 11

Microsoft Intune Admin Center

When joining the Dev Channel on Windows 11, version 24H2 – you will no longer be offered Build 26200.5518 first and will be offered the most current available update in the Dev Channel.

After you do a PC reset under Settings > System > Recovery, your build version may incorrectly show as Build 26100 instead of Build 26200. This will not prevent you from getting future Beta Channel updates, which will resolve this issue.

We’re investigating an issue where core Windows surfaces are not able to load in safe mode (File Explorer, Start menu, and others) after the previous flight.

[Live Captions]

[NEW] We’re investigating an issue where live captions is crashing on this build.

[Task Manager]

After adding the new CPU Utility column, you may notice that System Idle Process always shows as 0.

The CPU graphs in the Performance page are still using the old CPU utility calculations.

Hello Windows Insiders, today we are releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.3950 (KB5055653) to the Beta Channel for Windows Insiders on Windows 11, version 24H2.
REMINDER: Build 22635.5305 was the last update released to the Beta Channel based on Windows 11, version 23H2. All Insiders in the Beta Channel will be getting upgraded to Windows 11, version 24H2 soon. Until that happens, Insiders on Windows 11, version 23H2 in the Beta Channel can choose to upgrade to Windows 11, version 24H2 and this build today if they want.
Changes in Beta Channel builds and updates are documented in two buckets: new features, improvements, and fixes that are being gradually rolled out for Insiders who have turned on the toggle to get the latest updates as they are available (via Settings > Windows Update*) and then new features, improvements, and fixes rolling out to everyone in the Beta Channel. For more information, see the Reminders section at the bottom of this blog post.

New features gradually being rolled out to the Beta Channel with toggle on*

We're excited to announce the availability, as a developer and origin trial, of ARIA Notify, a new API that's designed to make web content changes more accessible to all users.
You can try ARIA Notify today as an Origin Trial starting with Microsoft Edge 136, or locally by enabling the
--enable-blink-features=AriaNotify
feature flag.
ARIA Notify is designed to address scenarios where a visual change that's not tied to a DOM change and not accessible to assistive technology users, happens in the page. Examples include changing the format of text in a document, or when a person joins a video conference call.
Developers have come to rely on ARIA live regions as a limited workaround. ARIA Notify is an imperative notification API that's designed to replace the usage of ARIA live regions, and overcome its limitations, in these scenarios.

The problems with ARIA live regions

For individuals who are blind or have low vision, identifying non-user-initiated changes in the content of a web page can be very challenging. ARIA live regions are the only mechanism available today that communicates dynamic content changes to users of assistive technology.
However, ARIA live regions are tightly coupled with DOM elements because they're built around the assumption that visual changes happen in sections or UI widgets of a web page. But many important changes can happen on a web page without the DOM of the page being modified. Consider these two examples:

The user is interacting with a text editing area. The user highlights a word and then presses the <kbd>Ctrl+B</kbd> shortcut to make it bold. In this scenario, no UI elements were used by the user, and the DOM didn't necessarily change. The user should still hear confirmation that the action was successful.

The user is composing an email and presses the Send button. In normal circumstances, the message is sent, and a focus change occurs, which confirms that the action was successful. But, if the action is delayed or later fails, the user should still hear a notification about the delay or failure.

In these scenarios, developers tend to resort to using workarounds where they mimic dynamically changing content using DOM nodes that are placed offscreen. Unfortunately, this can lead to unexpected side effects for end users, like making the offscreen content accidentally discoverable by screen reader users with their virtual cursor, or not accessible if a modal dialog is opened and the offscreen content is not placed within it.
In addition, using ARIA live regions in these scenarios also comes with timing issues that developers must deal with, such as having to wait for an undetermined amount of delay between creating a region and adding the content into it. The ARIA Notify API addresses these issues.

Introducing the ARIA Notify API

ARIA Notify is an ergonomic and predictable way to tell assistive technologies (ATs), such as screen readers, exactly what to announce to users and when.
In its simplest form, developers can call the
ariaNotify()
method with the text to be announced to the user. The method is available both on the document object and on DOM nodes.

// Dispatch a message associated with the document.
document.ariaNotify("John Doe is connected");
// Dispatch a message associated with an element.
document.querySelector("#text-editor").ariaNotify("Selected text is bold");

When called on the document object, the language of the provided notification string is assumed to match that of the document. When called on an element, the element's nearest ancestor's
lang
attribute is used to infer the language.
The ARIA Notify API also lets developers hint to an AT about the importance of notifications to ensure that important messages that the user should be aware of are announced with urgency.
To do this, developers can use the
priority
option. This option indicates how the AT should rank the notification with respect to other, pending, notifications:

high
- The AT should add the notification to the end of any other pending high priority notifications but before all normal priority pending notifications.

normal
(default) - The AT should add the notification to the end of all pending notifications.

Here's an example showing how to set priorities:

// Dispatch a normal priority notification about a background task status update.
document.ariaNotify("Background task completed", { "priority":"normal" });
// Dispatch a high priority notification that data may be lost.
document.ariaNotify("Unable to save changes, connection lost", { "priority":"high" });

In this example, assuming that the normal priority notification hasn't already been announced, the high priority notification is guaranteed to be announced first, followed by the normal priority notification.

Try ARIA Notify today and let us know what you think

We're excited that ARIA Notify is now ready to be tested by developers, either locally, or as part of a Microsoft Edge Origin Trial to gather developer feedback on the API.
If you want to test ARIA Notify in Microsoft Edge on your own device only, start Edge from the command line and use the
--enable-blink-features=AriaNotify
argument to enable the feature. For example, if you're using Microsoft Edge Canary on Windows, run the following command in a command prompt:

"C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge SxS\Application\msedge.exe" --enable-blink-features=AriaNotify

To test your entire website with users instead, register your website for an Edge Origin Trial:

Go to AriaNotify API on the Microsoft Edge Origin Trial site.

Sign-in to the site with your GitHub credentials.

And then register for the Origin Trial.

To learn more about the API, check out the ARIA Notify explainer.
And, if you're interested in using the API in other browsers, checkout out the ariaNotify-polyfill GitHub repository.
We'd love to hear your feedback about the API, to ensure that our solution meets your needs. Let us know your thoughts by opening a new issue on our GitHub repository.

Amidst these complexities, it is even more important to adopt new technologies in the age of AI to stay competitive and secure. According to the 2025 Work Trend Index report, 82% of leaders say this is a pivotal year to rethink key aspects of strategy and operations.
Another critical aspect that organizations must address is the impending end of support for Windows 10 in October 2025. As the deadline approaches, it is essential for companies to plan and strategize effectively to ensure streamlined operations and continued security.
Windows 365 is your solution for a secure and reliable AI and cloud-powered future. In our ongoing commitment to support our commercial customers during these changing times, we’re excited to announce that starting today, Microsoft will be offering a 20% discount on all Windows 365 plans to new customers.*

Cloud security and Windows 365 special offer: Rethinking IT strategies

We want companies to be well-prepared to transition to Windows 11 with the most modern and secure computing experience possible. When moving to Windows 11, companies can check if their current Windows 10 PCs are eligible for a free upgrade to Windows 11, purchase a new and more secure Windows 11 PC, or move to the cloud with Windows 365. Learn more about preparing for the end of Windows 10 support.
In the current economic climate, when businesses are looking for reliable and affordable alternatives to refreshing physical devices or extending the life of existing PCs, Windows 365 is a compelling option. It delivers a highly secure Windows 11 experience to your Cloud PC – your Windows in the cloud – that can be accessed from anywhere. Built according to Zero Trust principles, Window 365 continuously verifies the identity and trustworthiness of every user, device and network attempting to access organizational resources so you can be confident your organization’s data is secure and protected against evolving threats. With the power of the cloud, Windows 365 provides the flexibility to access your Windows environment from anywhere, on any device. According to Gartner® analyst Stuart Downes, "Today, 95% of work could be cost-effectively performed using virtual desktops compared to 40% in 2019."**
Additionally, transitioning to Windows 365 can help reduce your carbon footprint and contribute to sustainability goals. Microsoft commissioned a research study examining the potential for carbon emissions reductions and energy cost savings with Windows 365 and Azure Virtual Desktop. The study found that for high-intensity workloads, using Azure Virtual Desktop or Windows 365 on low-medium intensity physical machines results in lower emissions compared to using powerful laptops. As the end of support for Windows 10 approaches on Oct. 14, 2025, organizations have an opportunity to rethink their IT strategies. Windows 365 is not only a cost-effective alternative to replacing physical devices, but Extended Security Updates (ESUs) are also available at no cost to Windows 365 customers. This means that Windows 10 PCs connecting to Windows 365 will continue to receive critical security updates beyond the official support deadline while workers enjoy the enhanced productivity and improved user experience of Windows 11 streamed from the Microsoft Cloud.

Customers paving the way with Windows 365

Windows 365 is a great option across various industries and use cases – from information workers who need access to Windows all the time to frontline workers that may only need it during their shift.
