50.
Before hopping on to the list of enticing destinations, here’s some advice.

 51.
Get an internet connection that won’t restrain your enjoyment. Your loved ones may want regular updates on your vacations. Or in the wilderness of the Chihuahua desert, GPS may be our only hope. Plus, don’t forget local eateries that you may search for online.

 52.
Well, Optimum is offering millions of free high-speed hotspot zones throughout the country. What’s more, with rare outages, you can stay in touch with your loved ones and find out more about your destination. Connect to atencion al cliente de Optimum en español to explore more about Optimum’s plans and packages.

 53.
Without further ado, let’s get started.

 61.

 62.
Big Bend National Park:

 63.
With miles-long paved roads to leisurely drive on, Big Bend National Park is a must-visit travel destination in Texas. Not only this, but with hiking trails stretched over to couple of hundred miles, you’re destined for some breathtaking sceneries.

 64.
However, the biggest attraction of the Big Bend National Park is the rare birds that you may find. One can find more than 450 bird species, with different kinds of woodpeckers and sparrows.

 65.
Fredericksburg:

 66.
If you’ve grown tired of visiting metropolitans or extended coastlines, head to a small city with a rich history. Apart from being a great tourist attraction, such cities preserve long-forgotten traditions better than anyone.

 67.
Fredericksburg is one such city situated in the Texas Hill Country. The buildings, streets, local shops, eateries, and the city’s name, everything showcase a rich German culture.

 68.
Local shops are the biggest attraction in Fredericksburg. With a lot of German items on display, it’s become hard for one to stop shopping.

 69.
While you’re on a shopping spree, don’t forget to educate yourself about the city. Pioneer Museum is the best place to know why there is a German-themed city in the U.S.

 70.
One can find hundreds of wineries around the city, each offering its distinguished taste. Also, with most wineries offering free tasting rooms, you don’t have to spend anything to taste the finest wines.

 71.
Guadalupe Mountains National Park:

 72.
Hiking lovers may not find a better place to visit than Guadalupe Mountains National Park in Texas.

 73.
Why?

 74.
Because out of the 10 highest peaks in the state, 8 of them belong to this national park. Peaks like El-Capitan and famous hiking trails like Devil’s Hall and Guadalupe Peak Trail are also situated in Guadalupe Mountains National Park.

 75.
Although the scenery remains astounding throughout the year, it’s best to visit Guadalupe Mountains National Park in the fall. Simply because yellow, orange, and red leaves on sky-reaching trees are no less than a treat for the eyes.

 76.
Port Aransas:

 77.
Tired of steep hikes or long walks? All you want is to lay down and relax? How about a satisfactory sunbath on a stretched coastline? If you’re all in for such a trip, there’s hardly a place better than Port Aransas.

 78.
What’s more, Port Aransas offers parasailing for hardline adventurers. You can also book a Dolphin-watching cruise and experience how friendly they are.

 79.
Port Aransas is home to endangered birds like the Whooping Crane. Although they may not roam freely around humans, chances are high that you may encounter one.

 80.
Although, Port Aransas is open all around the year, if you’re looking for extra enjoyment, try to coincide your trip’s dates with an event. You may find a lot of fun things to hop on and a lot of rare food items to suffice your hunger at those events.

 81.
Palo Duro Canyon State Park:

 82.
Home to the second-largest canyon in the U.S., there’s nothing that Texas doesn’t offer. If you’ve mustered up the courage to hike on steep canyons, Palo Duro Canyon State Park is the best opportunity to test your limits.

 83.
Stretching over 120 miles and around 20 miles wide, it’s around 800 feet deep at some points. Also, if you’re in to spend a night under the sky full of stars, you’ll find plenty of camping spots around the park. You can also avail services of camps available around the State Park.

 84.
Bottom Line: Being the 2nd biggest state in the U.S., Texas offers one of the best travel attractions. Be it long, scenic coastlines, deep canyons, or historic cities, Texas brings everything to the table. So, do visit these beauties whenever you’re visiting Texas. Also, let us know of any hidden gem worth visiting in the comments section below.

 109.
In today’s fast-paced world, road travel has become an integral part of our daily routines, especially in bustling metropolitan areas like Houston. Whether it’s commuting to work, running errands, or embarking on a road trip, ensuring safety on the road should always be a top priority.

 110.
With Houston’s growing population and the increasing number of vehicles on the road, coupled with various distractions vying for our attention, it’s crucial for drivers to be vigilant and proactive in maintaining maximum safety.

 111.
Here are seven essential road travel tips every driver should know:

 112.

 113.
Buckle Up Every Time

 114.

 115.
Wearing a seatbelt is the most effective way to reduce the risk of injury or death in a car accident. Before starting the engine, ensure that all passengers, including yourself, are securely buckled up.

 116.
Seatbelts spread the force of a collision across the strongest parts of the body, preventing occupants from being ejected from the vehicle and minimizing the impact of a crash.

 117.
Remember, seatbelts save lives, so make it a habit to buckle up every time you get behind the wheel.

 118.

 119.
Obey Speed Limits and Traffic Signs

 120.

 121.
Speeding is a leading cause of accidents on the road, significantly increasing the likelihood of a collision and the severity of injuries sustained.

 122.
Always adhere to posted speed limits and pay attention to traffic signs, especially in areas with heavy pedestrian traffic, school zones, and construction zones. Speed limits are set based on road conditions, visibility, and other factors to ensure the safety of all road users.

 123.
By obeying speed limits and traffic signs, you not only reduce the risk of accidents but also contribute to smoother traffic flow and overall road safety.

 124.

 125.
Be Prepared for Emergencies

 126.

 127.
Be prepared for unexpected situations by carrying an emergency kit in your vehicle. Your kit should include essentials such as a first aid kit, flashlight, batteries, jumper cables, reflective triangles or flares, basic tools, and non-perishable food and water.

 128.
However, despite taking all necessary precautions, emergencies can still occur while on the road. In case of a car accident, it’s crucial to know who to turn to for legal assistance.

 129.
That’s why it’s wise for drivers in Houston to be aware of skilled car accident lawyers in Houston who can provide expert guidance and representation in the event of a collision.

 130.
Having the contact information of reputable lawyers readily available in your emergency kit can offer peace of mind and ensure that you’re prepared for any legal challenges that may arise following an accident.

 131.

 132.
Maintain a Safe Following Distance

 133.

 134.
Maintaining a safe following distance is essential for preventing rear-end collisions, one of the most common types of accidents on the road. The general rule of thumb is to keep at least a three-second gap between your vehicle and the one in front of you.

 135.
This allows you enough time to react and brake safely in case of sudden stops or emergencies. In adverse weather conditions such as rain, snow, or fog, increase your following distance to account for reduced visibility and longer braking distances.

 136.

 137.
Avoid Distractions

 138.

 139.
Distracted driving is a major contributor to road accidents, posing a serious threat to everyone on the road. Avoid distractions such as using mobile phones, eating or drinking, adjusting the radio, or engaging in lively conversations while driving.

 140.
Keep your focus on the road ahead and scan your surroundings regularly for potential hazards. If you need to attend to something urgent, such as a phone call or text message, pull over to a safe location before doing so.

 141.
Remember, no text or call is worth risking your life or the lives of others.

 142.

 143.
Regular Vehicle Maintenance

 144.

 145.
A well-maintained vehicle is essential for safe and reliable road travel. Schedule regular inspections and maintenance checks for your vehicle, including brakes, tires, lights, and fluid levels.

 146.
Replace worn-out tires, brake pads, and other critical components to ensure optimal performance and safety. Pay attention to warning signs such as unusual noises, vibrations, or dashboard lights indicating potential issues with your vehicle.

 147.
By staying proactive about vehicle maintenance, you can avoid breakdowns and mechanical failures that could compromise your safety on the road.

 148.

 149.
Stay Sober and Alert

 150.

 151.
Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs significantly impairs your judgment, reaction time, and coordination, increasing the risk of accidents and fatalities. Never drive if you’re under the influence of alcohol, prescription medications, or recreational drugs.

 152.
If you plan to drink, designate a sober driver or arrange alternative transportation such as a taxi or rideshare service. Additionally, ensure that you get an adequate amount of rest before embarking on a long journey to stay alert and focused behind the wheel.

 153.
That’s A Wrap

 154.
Maintaining maximum safety on the road requires a combination of vigilance, preparedness, and responsible behavior.

 155.
By following these seven essential road travel tips, drivers can minimize the risk of accidents and ensure a safe and enjoyable journey for themselves and fellow road users. Remember, safety should always be the top priority when behind the wheel. Safe travels!

 193.
Dogs are masters of eating things they shouldn’t, whether it’s stealing food from our plates or tasting that new plant you bought. When it comes to human food, plenty of things are safe for them (though not necessarily healthy), but a few foods can be toxic. So, if your pet has just eaten something they shouldn’t, finding out how safe it was is vital.

 194.
A food that dogs are particularly fond of is sausage, but can dogs eat sausages? It depends on the ingredients, but, without seasoning, sausages aren’t toxic. However, they aren’t healthy for them either. Read on to learn why sausages are not the best treat to give your dog.

 196.
Benefits and Negatives of Sausage for Your Dog

 197.
Unfortunately, there aren’t really any nutritional benefits to letting your pup eat sausage. Yes, dogs need meat and require protein to stay healthy, but the negatives of sausage far outweigh the protein boost your pet would get. What are those negatives?

 198.
For starters, sausages are high in fat, which is unhealthy for your pet. Did you know that sausages can have as much as 50% fat? That’s a lot! A one-off high fat meal such as a sausage can sometimes trigger pancreatitis in susceptible dogs.

 199.
Adding that much extra fat to your dog’s diet can, over time, lead to obesity. Obesity, in turn, predisposes your dog to pancreatitis, joint disease, and even some cancers.

 200.
Then there are seasonings sometimes found in sausages. If sausage has spicy seasonings, it could seriously upset your dog’s stomach, leading to vomiting or diarrhea. And if the sausage you’re feeding your pet has onion or garlic, it could be downright dangerous, as both are toxic to canines.

 201.
Finally, if sausage is undercooked, it could put your pup at risk of becoming ill from a bacterial or parasitic infection, such as trichinosis or Salmonella.

 218.
Are sausage substitutes safe to feed to my dog?

 219.
It depends on the substitute. If it’s a plant-based sausage alternative, the answer is probably no. It depends on the ingredients, cooking method and fat content but if in doubt it’s better to avoid giving these to your dog.

 228.
Though a bite or two of sausage may not harm your dog, it could trigger pancreatitis in sensitive dogs. This food is extremely unhealthy for your pet. It contains too much fat and may contain harmful seasonings. Instead, give your four-legged friend a treat made specifically for them, as this will always be your safest bet!

 260.
 261.
 262.
 263.

The idea of ‘living in the present’ is one that’s become so widespread, usually heard through general advice as to how to improve your mental health, that it can feel almost useless. It’s vague and sometimes it can even seem like it’s unclear what it means. However, while you might not have personally found it useful up to this point, it is something that can have a profound impact on your perspective, potentially even helping you through more difficult periods in your life. Therefore, getting to grips with what it means and how you can go about living in the present might be something that’s well worth your time.

 264.
 265.
 266.
 267.
Breathing Exercises

 268.
 269.
 270.
 271.

Alongside the idea of living in the present, you might also hear about the concept of mindfulness. You might feel similarly about this – as well as meditation, which can have benefits on your mental health but can also be difficult to get into if you’re skeptical.

 272.
 273.
 274.
 275.
You might find it helpful, then, to strip this back to simple breathing exercises – something that is often at the core of both meditation and mindfulness. The idea is to become observant of your breathing, ultimately bringing your attention onto that forever present action and away from your internal world. It can be difficult at first, and it can feel as though you’re constantly slipping back away to your thoughts, but it’s important to realize that this is okay, it’s all part of the process. Over time, you might find that gently coming back to your breathing becomes more habitual and, as a result, grounding.

 276.
 277.
 278.
 279.
Taking It for Granted

 280.
 281.
 282.
 283.

The thought of focusing on the present might seem especially strange to you if you feel as though you’re unhappy with your situation. It might be that you feel lonely, or perhaps you’re faced with the prospect of moving into residential care or going through something difficult. However, you might find that once your attention is more firmly in the present moment, you begin to appreciate and value aspects of your life that you previously didn’t focus on – it might help you to enjoy hobbies again or get more out of simple socialization. This kind of revitalization can help you take a more active approach – in the case of moving into residential care, it can make you more positive about the kinds of options waiting for you, like how Morris care at Corbrook Park offers activities and social elements for you to look forward to.

 284.
 285.
 286.
 287.
What You Can Control

 288.
 289.
 290.
 291.

The difficulty with getting stuck in your head is that you begin to get dragged down by anxieties about what you can’t control. This can only add to feelings of despair and helplessness. Therefore, the grounding practice of focusing on the present moment can help to rectify this by drawing your attention back to your sphere – back to what you can control. Once this becomes your focus again, you might find that these anxieties gradually hold less of an impact on your mood and mental health. In short, relinquishing the idea of control can be difficult, but it might be more beneficial than you expect.

Yes, the trees may be smaller but you can still wander outside with a basket and fill it up with fresh fruit.

 317.
When you decide to create a mini orchard in pots, the fun begins. Yes, you can grow trees with normal-size, colorful fruit in containers in a small yard or patio. Many of the regular orchard fruits – like apples, peaches and plums – are happy and grow well in pots. These container plants not only provide you with fresh fruit, but also are appealing ornamentals that make your backyard look lovely.

 318.

 319.
You’ll need to locate a sunny spot, select the fruit trees for your backyard mini orchard, and pot them up appropriately. Learn about their maintenance needs before you buy.

 320.
Choosing the Right Spot For Your Mini Orchard

 321.
The right spot for your container orchard is an easy-to-access area that gets good sun. Protection from winds may be necessary if your backyard is subject to gusts. While full sun is always desirable for fruit trees, potted fruit trees will do just fine on five to six hours a day of sun.

 322.
What are the Best Fruit Trees for a Small Orchard in Containers?

 323.
Not every fruit and nut tree will do well in a container orchard. For instance, walnut trees not only are enormous, but they also take almost two decades to fruit. On the other hand, any regular fruit tree will grow in a pot – at least for a short period.

 324.
Columnar trees – that is, fruit trees with a narrow shape and a single truck – work well in containers. They grow essentially without branches and the fruit clusters against the trunk.

 325.
Dwarf trees are great too. Dwarf fruit trees are created from a process called grafting. Essentially, it is a melding of two trees – the root system of a dwarf tree with the top (or scion) of a fruit tree. It is the species of root system that determines the size of the tree.

 336.
Genetic dwarfs are trees that are naturally dwarfed. These make good selections since they don’t need a different rootstock. You can also plant berries – blueberries, strawberries and raspberries – that are naturally small and do not require grafting at all.

 337.
Which Size Container Do You Need for a Mini Orchard?

 338.
Most fruit trees are sold in small containers and will require transplant quickly. What size container to choose?

 339.
You’ll have to strike a balance between big and small when it comes to containers for a mini orchard. The bigger the container, the longer the tree will be able to survive in it. But the bigger the container, the heavier it will be to transport indoors for overwintering. So if overwintering indoors is part of your plan, be sure your container can be relocated without too much effort. Many gardeners start with a smaller container of 3 to 7 gallons (11 to 26 L), moving up in size over time to a 15-gallon (56.7 L) container for long-term use.

 340.
Shape is easier to dictate: pick a lower, wider container over a tall, slender container every time. Be sure that the container has water drain holes.

 341.
Caring for Your Container-Based Mini Orchard

 342.
Like other potted plants, container orchard plants require irrigation, fertilizer, an occasional prune, and a warmish place to spend the winter. Here are the details.

 343.
Watering

 344.
Containerized plants always require more regular irrigation than plants with their roots deep in your soil. They dry out, and during hot spells, can get very dry, very quickly. The smaller the container, the quicker the soil gets dry. Drip irrigation is considered the very best system for container orchards.

 345.
Take your irrigation cues from the weather and check the soil regularly. I recommend the finger-in-the-pot method. If the soil is bone dry an inch (2.5 cm) down, water the plant again, even daily or twice daily.

 346.
Feeding

 347.
Fertilize your little fruit plants frequently, using less product than for regular-sized fruit trees. Start the process the minute new growth appears.

 348.
Pruning

 349.
Prune to maintain the shape of each tree’s canopy. But the most important pruning will be of the roots. Take a look at each fruit tree’s root ball in spring. Root prune if the roots are spiraling around the inside of the pot, or if they fill up the pot.

 350.
Overwintering

 351.
Fruit tree varieties that are not cold hardy in your region should be overwintered indoors. Judge this in the same way you would for other potted plants: determine the plant’s hardiness zone, then compare it to your own. In close cases, you can wrap the little trees to protect them from dropping temperatures.

 388.
On Friday, I shared that I was going to be away from Matt overnight for the first time in over a decade. If you missed that, you can read about it here. Well, the weekend was a success all around. Matt and my mom had a very uneventful time, which is a very good thing. And of course, my mom spent the whole time not only making sure that Matt was taken care of, but also cleaning and doing laundry for me. She’s such a blessing and an amazing help to me.

 389.
Having my mom here with Matt while I was gone really put my mind at ease and allowed me to have a wonderful time at the retreat. There were about 40 women in all, and I had such a good time getting to know new people, talking, laughing (so much laughing!), eating good food, and trying a new-to-me art.

 390.
The whole theme of the weekend was brokenness. We talked a lot about personal brokenness and how God can bring beauty out of our brokenness. So as a practical illustration of this concept, we all spent Friday evening doing a kintsugi project. We were all told to bring a piece of broken pottery (with all of the pieces) so that we could use those for our project.

 391.
Kintsugi is a Japanese art of repairing a broken piece of pottery (or glass) in a way that the goal is not to hide the break or imperfection, but rather to highlight and beautify the break or imperfection using gold. The idea is that the cracks and imperfections are part of the life of the object and should not be hidden, but should be seen and celebrated. If you’ve never seen kintsugi before, you can see all kinds of examples here.

There are many of them on Amazon, and this is the particular one that I used (affiliate link).

On a deeper philosophical level, I love the whole idea of highlighting those imperfections and celebrating them as part of the “life” of the object. And on a spiritual level, I love how that idea can be applied to our lives, as we all have to deal with individual brokenness to some level. And personally, as a Christian, I love to think about how God can take my brokenness and mend my brokenness back together for His glory.

 433.
So that is a little glimpse into my weekend, and my first time away from Matt overnight in over a decade. It was such a good weekend for me, and I’m so thankful that my mom was willing to stay with Matt so that I could go. It was just one night, but it was so refreshing, and I needed that. And now I’m ready to get back to work on my studio. I had a goal of getting it finished by the end of this month, and there are only nine days left in the month. Eeekkk!! I have no idea if I can get it done, but I’m certainly going to try!

 475.
1. What’s the thing you always end up picking out of your salad?

 476.
Raw onions. No thank you! They taste too strong for me.

 477.
2. Gummi bears or M&M’s?

 478.
Gummi bears please, but only if they’re Albanese Gummi Bears.

 479.
3. Did you spend any time outside over the weekend?

 480.
Just a little bit. It was sunny and warm here in the Bay Area but my allergies have been on fire lately, so I mostly stayed indoors.

 481.
4. Something you’re working on?

 482.
LOL, don’t laugh, but I’m getting better about my poker face at work! I’ve been working really hard at keeping a neutral face and tone of voice when I’m feeling, um, heated.

 483.
5. What’s hitting the spot in terms of your makeup lately?

 484.
I’ve really been enjoying Westman Atelier Baby Cheeks Lip + Blush Stick in Poppet. 512.
Hi, I’m Savanna Stanfield, a former science teacher and now a writer and editor at Dogster. I’ll be sharing my life with Penny, a sassy and spunky Chihuahua mix, on a weekly basis. Penny is my first experience with dog ownership, and my husband, daughter, and I certainly have our hands full with her, but every day is something exciting and new because we truly never know what she’ll do next. I can’t wait to share Penny and my experiences with dog ownership with you!

 513.

Penny’s favorite spot on the couch

 514.
A Little Background

 515.
I’ve never been much of a dog person. Growing up, my family had dogs, the most memorable being a black Lab named Beauty. But Beauty was my sister’s dog, and while I of course loved her as the family dog, other dogs were just dogs to me.

 516.
One day, my niece told me that she had found an abandoned puppy and wanted to know if we’d be interested in taking it. I wasn’t too keen on the idea, because being a mom and having three cats at home already, I didn’t need anything else to take care of, nor did I know hardly anything about caring for a dog. But my husband and daughter seemed excited about it, so I finally caved because the puppy needed someone to take care of her forever.

 517.
Even though I was still sure that I wasn’t a dog person, we took in the cutest little puppy I had ever seen.

 518.

Penny on the day we got her

 519.
Meet Penny

 520.
My niece cared for the puppy for several weeks before we took her in; she named her Penny and took her to the veterinarian for initial care. The vet said that just going by her physical appearance, Penny was a Chihuahua and that she was a few months old.

 521.
But after taking her in, as Penny grew, I noticed that she seemed bigger than most Chihuahuas I had ever seen. She weighs about 10 pounds fully grown. I figured she must be some kind of mixed breed, but I wasn’t sure what she was mixed with.

 522.
I used a DNA test kit from DNA My Dog, and when the results came back, they said that Penny was mostly Chihuahua (62%), but also part Miniature Poodle (20%) and part Pekingese (18%). So now it was starting to make sense why she’s a little bigger than most Chihuahuas and why she looks the way she does.

 523.
I was thinking to myself, “That’s sort of an odd breed combination. What can I call her when people ask what breed she is?” Sure, “Chihuahua mix” is fine, but I wanted something more fun and unique that combines all of her breeds. I saw a Pikachu from Pokémon, and a lightbulb went off. Now I have my own little Pekachoo, and that’s a lot more fun to tell people than “Chihuahua mix.”

 524.

Penny as a fully grown Pekachoo

 525.
I’m a Dog Person Now

 526.
Having owned Penny for a few years, I can safely say that I’m a dog person. When I see a dog out in public, I have to at least wave and say hello to them, but sometimes pet them (with permission from the owner and dog, of course). I definitely see dogs as more than just dogs now. I see them for the companionship and loyalty they provide and how they weasel their way into our hearts before we know it.

 527.
After originally saying that I didn’t need anything else to take care of, now I’m not sure whether Penny needs me more or I need her more. She takes care of me just as I take care of her, and I can’t imagine my life without her. I hope you’ll enjoy getting to know a little bit more about Penny the Pekachoo and her personality each week.

 563.
Date April 22, 2024

 564.

 565.
Last year, Jordan Samuel Pacitti, aesthetician and founder of Jordan Samuel Skin, posed a question on Instagram: “Why does bad skincare advice gain so much traction on social media?” In the slides that followed, Pacitti answered his own question: “Because skincare — when done right — is often boring. Good skincare is consistent. But doing the same routine day in and day out doesn’t make for compelling content.” And perhaps the most “boring” of all when it comes to a solid skincare routine is that “there are no instant results.”

 566.
Dr. Barbara Sturm, founder of the beloved eponymous skincare line, echoes the sentiment. “Usually the quick fixes in a skincare routine cause a lot of inflammation,” she said during a recent visit to Toronto. “These products — think harsh cleansers, masks, exfoliants and scrubs — are popular on TikTok, but they can be catastrophic for your skin barrier, especially if you have sensitive skin.”

 567.
Indeed, #SkinTok has a staggering 18.1 billion views on the video app, and search results vary from terrifying-looking at-home peels to promises of instant unclogged pores to fast-acting acne-clearing solutions. It’s enough to make your head spin and your skin barrier disintegrate. But it sure is entertaining.

 568.
Good skincare recognizes nuance, says Pacitti. “But the internet is where nuance goes to die,” he laughs over a video call. Pacitti notes the de-influencing trend that became popular on TikTok last year as an example. The movement saw content creators calling out products deemed to be unnecessary buys. De-influencing started as a response to over-consumption and, on #SkinTok specifically, a rejection of over-exfoliation, over-cleansing, overly complicated routines, over-everything.

 569.
“It began with good intentions,” says Pacitti. “People were saying ‘If you enjoy these products, great! But they’re not necessities.’” Then, he adds with an eye roll, “it turned into people bashing skincare products because they didn’t work for them.” Nuance, where art thou?

 570.
“The overriding goal of skincare is to reduce inflammation and be as gentle as you can with your skin,” said Paula Begoun, founder of cult-favourite skincare brand Paula’s Choice, during a trip to Montreal last year. “That’s it. Bottom line.” Her suggestions for how to build a solid routine that features just the basics, sans bells and whistles? Avoid the sun when you can, and wear sunscreen when you can’t. Antioxidants are good. Retinol is also good — if your skin can tolerate it. Begoun recited the list with her signature deadpan “Are we really still going over this?” tone. Its purpose wasn’t lost. “You need consistency with a good skincare routine, but consistency is boring and boring is bad for views,” she said. “The endless hacks and myths and misinformation are mind-numbing.” They are also the reason she’s not on social media.

 571.
“I used to say that all you needed was a cleanser, a moisturizer and a sunscreen,” says Pacitti of his own list of musts. But today he’s able to break it down even further. “Do you need to cleanse your skin? No, I guess not. You might not have great skin, but you’re not going to die if you don’t. The problem is that people want a black-and-white, one-size-fits-all solution. But there’s just no way to provide that.”

 572.
All three skincare experts agree that for the safety of your skin and your overall health, SPF is one of the rare necessities. Sturm also pointed out that all skin types can benefit from hydration. “If you have oily skin, you’ll need a lighter cream; if you have dry skin, you’ll need a richer cream,” she explained. Yes, it really is that simple — and that boring. “You have to see skin as an organ and not as a marketing playground,” she said.

 573.
As for the worst offenders, Sturm, Pacitti and Begoun all agree that inflammation-causing harsh scrubs, peels and exfoliants, which take centre stage in skincare video content, are the most damaging. These products also happen to be utter TikTok sensations. “I think they’re the most overused steps in a routine because they’re some of the only skincare products that provide instantaneous results,” says Pacitti. “When you exfoliate and feel that smoothness and see an immediate glow, you can’t help but be like, ‘Damn, that’s nice.’ It’s instant gratification.” Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of using the same ol’ cleanser, moisturizer and SPF every single day — and it certainly doesn’t make for thrilling video content.

 574.
Pacitti offers tips to make a “boring” skincare routine a little less so — much like spicing up a solid, long-term relationship. “Texture is important,” he says. “Use products that feel lovely and luxurious to apply. Take your time. Maybe switch up the order in which you apply your products.” And if you simply cannot resist the allure of experimenting with the latest ingredients and trends? “Use them on your body,” he suggests. If you love a heavily scented, acid-loaded moisturizer, try it out on your hands, which are much less likely to react to new ingredients.

 575.
Begoun’s advice was a little less gentle. “Don’t do what’s stupid,” she laughed. “Can that be the headline?”

 576.
Ahead, six products to help you pare down your skincare regimen.

 741.

 742.
Buttermilk: Buttermilk is a key ingredient in this cookie salad! I’ve tried making it with heavy whipping cream and half-and-half, but it’s just not the same! The buttermilk adds a little tang to balance out the sweetness. It also helps create a perfect creamy texture.

 743.
Fruit: Switch up the fruit by adding pineapple tidbits, pineapple chunks, grapes, or banana slices.

 744.
Pudding Powder: This salad would be so tasty with banana instant pudding or cheesecake instant pudding. Have fun with the flavors!

 745.
Add-ins: Try adding mini marshmallows because the kids would love it!
