IGT’s <a href="https://www.casino.org/news/igt-upgraded-on-constructive-lottery-outlook/">contract with the Italian lotto</a> is run through a joint venture with Allwyn and data confirm it’s an important contributor to IGT’s adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA).</p>

114. <p>IGT has held the rights to operate Italy’s lottery for more than three decades and while that could imply the company has a leg up in winning another bid, Flutter Entertainment (NYSE: FLUT) is expected to pursue the contract as well.</p>

Prior to that acquisition, Flutter’s PokerStars and Betfair were operational in Italy with significant market share.</p>

118. <p>“While lottery sits outside of FLUT’s strategic focus, cross-sell rates of Superenalotto lottery players to OSB/iCasino have been attractive, and we believe FLUT management perceives the Lotto contract as primarily additive to the existing Superenalotto contract,” adds Stantial.</p>
119. <p><strong>Italy is an attractive market for gaming companies because it’s Europe’s largest wagering market outside of the UK and it’s the Eurozone’s third-largest economy behind only Germany and France.</strong></p>
120. <h2>IGT Could Have Some Advantages</h2>
121. <p>It’s possible other bidders could emerge for the Italy contract and Flutter certainly represents credible competition, but IGT could have some advantages in terms of retaining the agreement.</p>
122. <p><strong>“While the scoring matrix ascribes a higher weighting to price than the European (50%/50%) or U.S. (30%/70%) average, this compares to 70%/30% in the prior Lotto RFP (which we think the buyside was anchored to) with the slightly higher technical weighting benefiting IGT given incumbency, deeper lottery operator experience, and tech ownership,” concludes Stantial.</strong></p>
123. <p>The deadline for submissions is March 17, which the analyst believes could favor IGT as the incumbent because that might not be enough for rivals to formulate adequate, competing proposals.</p>

We did go down to 2.5 at some point yesterday, for a short period of time. Now we’re back to 3.</p>

204. <p><strong>This is mostly Chargers money</strong>. If we’re somewhat lopsided on any game – and there’s a long way to go, these games could even change by the time we get to game time. But the Chargers do have quite a bit of money on them for this one.</p>

206. <p>“I think it’s that whole Jim Harbaugh and Justin Herbert connection. I think that bettors really like that. And especially Harbaugh, coming to the team and taking them to this spot in his first year (as coach). And Herbert’s a good quality quarterback.</p>
207. <p>“The Texans coming into the year were looked at as a Super Bowl contender, and they still are. They could still get there, but things haven’t panned out that well for them. C.J. Stroud struggled a little bit lately, and I think the bettors have picked up on that, and that’s why that they’re on the Chargers. Now, with that being said, this could be a close one. But the bettors see this as the Chargers coming in with more momentum and playing better football at this point.”</p>

Then they’re at home, a little bit later in the year, we opened them up at 4, and the game got bet to 7. They actually buried the Steelers in that second game.</p>
215. <p>“Now, when you look at these two teams, they are traditionally close games. They’ve always been. It doesn’t matter the makeup of the roster. They hate each other, that’s really what it comes down to. We opened at 9.5, and we’re still at 9.5. The totals came down a bit from 45.5 to 43.5.</p>

217. <p>We’re going to be absolutely loaded up on Baltimore money line and Baltimore money line parlays. Now you’re laying a stiff price. 227. <p><strong>Josh Allen has no problem with wind up there. As a matter of fact, he’d rather it be windy.</strong> Other quarterbacks would struggle. Then you have Bo Nix coming in, who’s had a great season. But this is his first time, in playoff territory, and you know the Bills. The one thing I don’t like about the Bills – their pass defense is very suspect. Their secondary doesn’t seem to have the coverage, and they let teams score a lot of points on them. But that’s their game. Can we score more points than the other opponent?</p>

229. <p>“We have them as the favorite. And most people expect them to win this game. But are they going to cover that 8.5? The bettors will probably lay the money line. Allen’s a gamer. His (injury problem) is his left hand. I don’t have any concerns about his health. He’s one of those guys who goes out and just wants to win, does anything he can to win.”</p>

And this number that we opened up, 4.5, was with him playing, and that number has held up. I’m 99% sure he’ll play. If he doesn’t, I’ll be shocked, and this number will fall like a rock.</p>

238. <p>But the Packers issue is they didn’t play that well at the end of the year. Love maybe not be 100%. Christian Watson, to me, is a big deal on this team. To have him on the field, they seem to always play much better. The Eagles are just a complete team all around. I mean, running back, Saquon Barkley, just a tremendous year. He had a week off last week, so he’s certainly ready to go. <strong>Good wide receivers, probably the best defense of all the teams in the playoffs this year.</strong></p>

240. <p>“So, I see them as a real deal, and probably can go far. But the 4.5, I don’t know if the 4.5 is going to hold up. And in my opinion, I think this game probably goes to 5, maybe even 5.5 by the time we get close to game time. It’s just settled right now and hasn’t moved much. The totals come down a little bit from 46.5 to 45.5. But, you know, we’ll see where the line goes. I don’t see it coming down, but I could see it going up a tick as we get more clarity on the health of the quarterbacks.”</p>

The team is kind of one dimensional. You’ve got Mike Evans, that’s his go-to guy, and Bucky Irving, a good running back. They’ve got some good pieces, but I see them as an above-average team. I don’t see them as much more than that.</p>

249. <p>And, do you go with a rookie here on the Commanders’ side, at quarterback (Jayden Daniels)? I think the end of the season wasn’t as good as the beginning of the season (for the Commanders). It wasn’t bad. He’s capable of running and throwing the ball downfield. He can do a lot of good things. But again, he’s in a playoff atmosphere. Baker Mayfield has been in his atmosphere before, whereas Daniels has not.</p>

251. <p>“<strong>But I certainly think the 3 points is exactly where the spread should be</strong>. Anything higher than that, which we were at the opener, 3.5, that was taken early. People saw that as value. So it’s been sitting at 3 now, and not a lot of movement there. It will probably fall down to 2.5.”</p>

This is a good game for the Rams, because it’s a good matchup for them. But the concern with the Vikings coming into this game was that were playing Sunday night (against the Lions). They’re playing for No. 1 seed, which means that they get a bye week. They win the division. Everything was looking positive they could win that game. Well, they lost that game, and now they are a five seed. I don’t think the coach did a good job in that game. They should have kicked field goals when they had the opportunity, instead of playing the Lions game and going for it all the time.</p>

260. <p>I don’t know if this is on players minds or not, but if Sam Darnold takes this team deeper into the playoffs, he becomes the quarterback, and then maybe they think about trading the rookie when he comes back next year, trying to get some draft picks. So I don’t know if that’s in a player’s mind. I think at hand right now is to go in and try to win this football game.</p>

262. <p>“But (Darnold) has no proof that he’s excels in these type of games, and last week was part of that, to show that he doesn’t, although I don’t give him the full blame. 293. <p>While there, he purchased 10 “Pick 5” game tickets, according to a <a href="https://www.casino.org/news/maryland-igaming-bill-filed-state-voters-would-have-final-say/">Maryland Lottery</a> statement released on Friday.</p>
294. <p>The man “played the number straight for $1, pocketing 10 identical but separate tickets,” the lottery statement added.</p>

298. <p>Rather than immediately check his numbers, he went back to his residence and went to sleep. After all, it was a trying day.</p>

300. <p>“I scanned the tickets using the Lottery <a href="https://www.casino.org/news/jackpot-news-man-wins-cash-at-casino-next-day-wins-10m-in-lottery-then-wins-again/">app</a> on the phone,” the man recalled.</p>
301. <p><strong>He immediately realized he had won $500K. He broke into a smile. The lucky winner quickly alerted his mother about the payout. She also was happy with the news, according to lottery officials.</strong></p>

303. <p>What will he do with the newly-found fortune?</p>
304. <p><strong>He told lottery employees he will divide the jackpot between paying off current bills and saving for the future by making <a href="https://www.casino.org/news/michigan-lottery-player-loses-jackpot-by-one-number-then-wins-800k-the-next-day/">investments</a>.</strong></p>
305. <p>He also told lottery officials he had occasionally played “Pick 5” before the day he won the $500K.</p>
306. <p>Because the liquor store sold the winning tickets, Doc’s F&#038;B Liquors will receive a $5K bonus from the Maryland Lottery. The store sells beer, wine, and spirits. It’s located in Burwood Village Center.</p>
307. <p>No word if the lottery player alerted Maryland State Police about being cut off by the other driver. After all, he could have given state troopers the vehicle’s license plate number. But he learned a lesson from the experience.</p>

336. <p>Kraig Walter Benson, 49, was convicted in October of murdering Jenny Benson, 49, and Logan Gardner, 43. The defendant believed the victims had been having an affair.</p>
337. <p>In August 2023, Benson pleaded not guilty to two counts of deliberate homicide and use of a weapon in a violent crime, despite the killings being captured by the bar’s security video and observed by multiple witnesses.</p>
338. <h2><strong>Shocking Attack</strong></h2>
339. <p>The footage shows the Bensons sitting together at a table inside the Four Aces. At one point, the defendant leaves the bar, ostensibly to smoke a cigarette. At the same time, he retrieves a gun from his car, a Chevrolet Tahoe, before returning to his seat in the bar.</p>
340. <p>At 9:19 p.m., he reaches into his waistband, pulls out the gun, and shoots his wife in the head as patrons scatter.</p>

342. <p><strong>He then points the gun at Gardner, who is making a break for the front door, and fires once. He turns to his wife and shoots her again as she lies on the floor.</strong></p>

344. <p>He then fires three more shots at Gardner, sets off the fire alarm, and drives away in the Chevrolet. Benson was later arrested driving along a highway with a flat tire.</p>
345. <p>In court, Benson testified as a witness. He claimed that he had no memory of the incident and attempted to put the blame on his wife. His testimony at times drew gasps from those assembled in the courtroom, local news outlets reported.</p>
346. <h2><strong>Jaw Dropping Testimony  </strong></h2>
347. <p>“At trial, the state made Jenny seem like an angel, a person with no flaws. They were wrong,” Benson said, as reported by NBC Montana. “Since my arrest, through the discovery process, it shows another side of my wife of 22 years.”</p>
348. <p>The prosecution objected several times to Benson’s description of his wife as a “liar and a cheater.”</p>
349. <p>“I, too, lost my best friend that night, my best friend and the love of my life,” he claimed.</p>

429. <p>In terms of sports betting revenue, Nevada ranks fifth behind New York, New Jersey, Illinois and Pennsylvania. By handle, the state that’s home to the most casinos ranks third behind New Jersey and New York.</p>

431. <p>Still, Nevada’s status as the leader in per-capita sports betting is impressive for multiple person. First, <a href="https://www.casino.org/news/nevada-in-person-regs-hampering-sports-betting-revenue/">the state requires in-person visits</a> to casinos to sign-up for mobile betting accounts. That’s burdensome and it’s policy experts believe is costing the state money.</p>

433. <p>Second, by virtue of the requirement that sportsbook operators have ties casinos located in the state, <a href="https://www.casino.org/news/fanduel-might-need-an-acquisition-to-enter-nevada/">FanDuel and DraftKings</a> — the two largest sportsbook companies — don’t do business in Nevada. Should Nevada loosen the in-person registration mandate and if FanDuel and DraftKings eventually enter the state, it’s possible the state’s sports wagering and handle and revenue will grow.</p>
434. <p><strong>At the moment, there’s no movement among Nevada politicians and regulators to do away with in-person registration requirement</strong>.</p>
435. <h2>Other Sports Betting Per-Capita Stalwarts</h2>
436. <p>After Nevada, New Jersey, and New York, Massachusetts ranks fourth in terms of per-capita sports betting. Arizona, a state that’s viewed as a credible threat to pass Nevada in revenue terms, ranks fifth. Maryland and Illinois are sixth and seventh, respectively, with Colorado, Kansas, and Iowa rounding out the top ten.</p>
437. <p>Interestingly, Pennsylvania, which is a behemoth in handle and revenue terms, ranks just 19<sup>th</sup> on a per-capita basis with an average of $484 in annual sports wagers placed by bettors in the state.</p>
438. <p><strong>At the bottom is South Dakota, which has an annual per-capita sports betting spend of just $7.63, according to Gamdom. That could be the result of the state allowing sports betting only at tribal casinos and at gaming venues in Deadwood.</strong></p>

513. <p class="p1"><span class="s1">Judge Rita Lin agreed with the Graton’s claims that the BIA might have rushed its review of the Koi Nation’s claims that it has ancestral ties to Windsor and that the 68 acres of land it acquired in September 2021 should be taken into the federal trust.</span></p>

515. <p class="p1"><span class="s1">“The court decision was absolutely correct in understanding the haste with which the Department of Interior is trying to push the Koi decision forward and issuing an injunction,” said Graton Rancheria Chairman Greg Sarris.</span></p>
516. <p class="p1"><span class="s1">Lin’s ruling was imperative, as the BIA in November issued its <a href="https://www.casino.org/news/koi-nation-casino-environmental-impact-report-released/">Final Environmental Impact Statement</a> on the Koi tribal casino that initiated a 30-day public comment period. The Interior Department was expected to take the land located along E. Shiloh Rd. at Old Redwood Highway into the federal trust sometime after the public comment period closed on December 22. Lin’s granting of the temporary restraining order came on December 20.</span></p>

520. <p>The Koi further stated that the Graton know “full well that there are no human remains or culturally significant artifacts on the Shiloh property,” adding that the Gratton’s own archeologist was onsite during the forensic excavations the tribe itself requested of the BIA during consultation.</p>
521. <p>“This motion is a pretext designed to use the federal courts to protect its competitive superiority in the Sonoma County gaming market much like it deployed political antics to bring undue political pressure on the Interior Department to deny our fee-to-trust application,” the Koi concluded.</p>

523. <p class="p1"><span class="s1">The federal restraining order halts the BIA and DOI from taking the Koi property into the federal trust until representatives from the federal agencies and attorneys from the Koi Nation and Graton Rancheria present additional comments in her courtroom on January 9.</span></p>

They say due diligence was performed, including a site survey and canine forensic search for human remains on the property. They also claim no final decision on whether to take the land into the trust had been determined before the temporary restraining order was issued.</span></p>

527. <p class="p1"><span class="s1">No human remains were found on the property. Only a single chipped piece of obsidian was discovered. Obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass that was used by tribal nations as tools, weapons, and ornamental objects.</span></p>
528. <p class="p1"><span class="s1">Lin’s temporary restraining order is expected to run through January 20 when President-elect Donald Trump is sworn in and current Interior Secretary Deb Haaland exits. Haaland, the first tribal member to head the DOI, has been a strong ally of tribes, specifically smaller tribes seeking to have new lands taken into trust.</span></p>
529. <p class="p1"><strong><span class="s1">Her likely successor, former North Dakota <a href="https://www.casino.org/news/odds-good-north-dakota-gov-doug-burgum-will-lead-interior/">Gov. Doug Burgum</a> (R), is expected to retain strong tribal relations. However, DOI decisions have been overturned from one administration to the next.</span></strong></p>
530. <p class="p1"><span class="s1">Under the first Trump administration, land in Massachusetts that had been deemed sovereign under President Barack Obama’s DOI was overturned. That halted work on a $1 billion tribal casino resort in Taunton.</span></p>
531. <h2 class="p1"><span class="s1"><b>Local Opposition</b></span></h2>
532. <p class="p1"><span class="s1">Many in the Sonoma County region have <a href="https://www.casino.org/news/california-gov-newsom-opposes-koi-nation-scotts-valley-casinos/">expressed opposition</a> to the Koi casino, which includes more than 500K square feet of indoor space and a casino measuring 114K square feet with 2,750 slot machines and 105 table games. A 400-room hotel, a spa, five restaurants, retail shopping, and convention space are also in the blueprint.</span></p>
533. <p class="p1"><span class="s1">Brenda Alarcon, a lifelong Santa Rosa resident and small business owner, says the region most famous for its picturesque wine vineyards is becoming a sort of “mini Lake Tahoe.”</span></p>
