To our Track Judges Sharon Ward, Liz Neville and making his debut on the stand and loving every minute Richard Husselbee. Of course, our Field Judges, who still managed to keep all the Field Cards readable, To Gordon and Lorraine Densley, Matthew Hargreaves, Matt Evans, Dave Williams, Felicity Gray, Howard Bush, Catherine Pendlebury and Paul Tasker. To Matt Evans again, who arrived early to set up and stayed late to clear away along with Dave Williams. To Sam Husselbee for being on hand for any medical/first aid emergencies and of course Pat Wileman again here early to make sure everything ran smoothly catering wise. To Phil Owen and Ron Scholes our announcers who looked to be having fun all evening as well as making sure athletes were where they should be, when they should be. Finally, the family Godber, Andy for the wonderful job he made of recording, to Lorraine and Ben who made registration run smoothly in fairly difficult circumstances and assisted Andy. I understand Ben was also very helpful to the Track Judges. Everyone, thank you so much.</p>

  340. <p>Very contrasting weather in Daventry, but still some great performances to finish off the Lower YDL season for Tamworth AC youngsters. A couple of late injuries saw the team numbers drop slightly but we still managed to take 27 athletes for an away fixture, which was excellent.<br>Overall Tamworth finished 2nd in Division B behind Solihull, and finished the season in 2nd place in the division. It is also worth noting that Solihull picked up an average 10.4 points per athlete attending, compared to 12 points for Tamworth, so we need to keep recruiting more young athletes to get closer to winning the league!<br>All the results for the athletes will be on Power of 10, along with any England Athletics PB Award levels reached, but a summary of the performances below.</p>

He finished 3rd in the 100m with a grade 2 performance, 2nd in the B 200m, and then took 3rd place in the long-jump on his first outing. Great work!</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Zac Edwards</strong></td><td>As always Zac filled his quota of events without any fuss. He took 2nd place in the B shot-put straight after 3rd place in the 1500m. His first event was an excellent 2nd place and PB in the discus.</td></tr></tbody></table></figure>

A strong hurdles performance to equal her PB and take the win, and then a great javelin throw to add 2m to her PB and take 3rd place.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Holly Hancock</strong></td><td>Thanks to Holly for coming along to both run her 800m, and also provide support to all the other girls. In a tough race she finished as the 2nd place B runner.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Maggie Fulton-Pemberton</strong></td><td>Another new athlete was Maggie who took part in the long jump taking 2nd place in the B string, and then lead out the 4x100m team in style.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Niamh Springett</strong></td><td>Great to see Niamh in a Tamworth vest and she ran the B string of the 1200m to take 3rd place.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Ollie Francis</strong></td><td>A couple of sprints for Ollie at Daventry with a quick non-scoring 75m run, followed by her first run out over 150m to take 2nd place in the B string despite a fall at the line.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Robyn Edwards</strong></td><td>Robyn ran a really strong 1200m to take 2nd place, agonisingly just outside her PB but still in a very impressive time.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Rosa Farmer</strong></td><td>An outstanding run by Rosa in the 150m today who took a great win and also knocked 0.3s off her PB in the process. The 2nd fastest U13 150m run from a Tamworth athlete in 10 years, and a time that makes her the 3rd fastest 11 year-old in England over 150m this season.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Tilly Farmer</strong></td><td>Lots of activity in the morning for Tilly, followed by an afternoon of supporting. She took a PB and win in the B string hurdles, then came close to a PB in the 800m with 2nd place, and finally won the B string high jump with another PB. Well done!</td></tr><tr><td><strong>4x100m Relay Team </strong></td><td><strong>Finally! 413. <p>Following the third meeting, Tamworth are lying in 5th place, half a point behind Telford. Meaning if we can be if front of Telford at the final meeting at the Alexander Stadium on Saturday 19 August 2023, we would avoid being relegated for the second year running.</p>
  414.
  415.
  416.
  417. <p>We were able to field a much stronger team for this meeting, but of course the hosts were stronger too. Cheltenham have some very good athletes, but their ability to fill a team sheet, gives them a massive advantage.</p>
  418.
  419.
  420.
  421. <p>Star of the day has to be shared by two of our younger athletes. <strong>Stefi Honkowicz</strong>, who made her debut for the team, excelled in everything she tried, winning the 800m in 2:27.2, the “B” Triple Jump, before recording an outstanding time 18:09.8 in the 5000m. Less than an hour later taking a leg of the 4 x 400m a team that never really looked like being caught. Also starring was <strong>Isla Crameri</strong>, who won the “B” Long Jump, while waiting to start her Pole Vault competition which she won with a leap of 3.40m. Following this she won the Triple Jump with 10.34m, set a PB of 13.6secs in the 100m, before anchoring the 4 x 400m relay team to victory. The Relay was set up by <strong>Kat Kotlarzewski</strong> (nee Snowden) who came second in the individual 400m in 62.9 secs. She also competed in the 100m, 200m, Javelin, Shot and Discus. She&#8217;ll be good when she gets fully fit! Completing the relay team was <strong>Evie Caffrey</strong> who also won the “B” 800m in a season’s best 2:36.2 and was 3rd in the 1500m. <strong>Niamh Kilgallen</strong> came to do 5 events but after winning the Long Jump, her knee was not up to continuing, but she still stayed to finish 2nd in the Shot. Ribz (<strong>Rebecca Hobbs</strong>) who probably should have been at home with her kids, bless her, put in her usual “I’ll do that” performances in the 400m Hurdles and flat 400m plus the shot, before ending her day by winning the “B” 5000m, thanks as ever Ribz, always good to see you. Finally, <strong>Sarah Williams</strong>, who does not exactly live locally, got her Dad to bring her poles and vest to come 2nd in the Pole Vault and then compete in the Javelin and Discus.</p>
  422.
  423.
  424.
  425. <p>For the men, throwing stalwart <strong>Alex Berrow</strong>, gained his usual 5 point bonus by throwing 46.75m in the Hammer to finish 2nd place, also finished 2nd in Shot with 11.46m and chucked Javelin and Discus. <strong>Tom Ainsworth</strong> had a tough race in the 400m, but won as usual in 49.3 secs. Tom also ran 11.6 secs in the 100m and took a leg of both relays. <strong>Will Fleming</strong>, what a difference having a triple jumper makes! Will was 3rd with 10.67m, leapt a season’s best in the Long Jump, came 2nd in the “B” 400m and took legs of both relays. Also good to have a High Jumper for the first time this year, <strong>Ben Godber</strong> equalled his PB to finish 3rd. Ben also came 2nd in the “B” 800m and took a leg of the sprint relay. <strong>Chris Bruss</strong>, fresh for spending all day Saturday Officiating for the YDL team at Daventry, also helped out on the Women’s Hammer, as well as competing in the Men’s Hammer, Long Jumping, running in the 100m and taking legs of both relays. <strong>Max Kent</strong>, back from his holidays, won the 2000m Steeple chase, and ran in the 1500m. <strong>Reinis Baltins</strong> and his Dad <strong>Uvis</strong> also scored good points in the 1500m. <strong>Jolyon Leavesley</strong> finished 2nd in the 800m in 2:02.7 and Coach <strong>Matt Hargreaves</strong> scored useful points in the Shot, Javelin and Discus.</p>
  426.
  427.
  428.
  429. <p>Finally, last but definitely not least <strong>Pete Hackett</strong>, broke 16 mins in the 5000m for the first time winning in 15:57.8 lapping the rest of the field in the process, then took his usual place in the 4 x 400m relay, who came a very close second, caught on the line by a 48 secs runner from Yate.</p>
  430.
  431.
  432.
  433. <p>Thank you to our Officials on the day, Liz, Fiona, Dave Williams, Tom Caffrey, Chris, and Andy and Lorraine Godber.</p>

  453. <p>Another wonderful day at Tamworth Stadium yesterday for a match enjoyed by all, showing that there is a lot of optimism and positivity about the strength of Tamworth AC.</p>
  454.
  455.
  456.
  457. <p>An even bigger team of 30 young athletes appeared this time at the event with 4 of them making their debut, and a couple more competing for the first time this year. Overall Tamworth finished 2nd in Division B behind Solihull, but importantly score 43 points more than YDL 1 and closed the gap. &nbsp; This time we were the 3rd highest scoring out of 10 teams in the 2 divisions at the match, only 1 point lower than Northampton who won the other division.</p>
  458.
  459.
  460.
  461. <p>All the results for the athletes are shown on following pages, along with any England Athletics PB Award levels reached, but a summary of the performances below.</p>

He took 2nd place in the 200m with a strong performance, 4th in 300m, and in between jumped 1.45m for 2nd place in the high-jump. 3 PB’s for the day.</td></tr></tbody></table></figure>

  477. <figure class="wp-block-table"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Ella Moss</strong></td><td>Ella started the day winning the B hurdles race, ran a strong 800m for 2nd in the B race, and finished off with 2nd place in the high jump, narrowly missing out on 1.40m.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Emily Stephens</strong></td><td>A strong day on the track for Emily, with 2nd place and a Level 5 in the 100m and a Level 8 PB in the 200m to win the B string. Emily then anchored the 4x100m team home for a win in the Division B race, and took her part in the 4x300m claiming an excellent win.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Grace Hirst</strong></td><td>A mixture of track and field for Grace who started out the day with a PB throw in the hammer to claim the win. She equalled her PB in the 200m to take 2nd place, and then won the B string 300m. She ran an excellent third leg as part of the 4x100m win.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Grace Young</strong></td><td>A great start to the day for Grace picking up 3rd place in the long jump and adding 30cm to her PB. She equalled her PB in the 100m to take 2nd place in the B string, and finally took second leg of the 4x100m win.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Holly Preston</strong></td><td>Holly continued her improvement this season with another PB in the 300m to win the A race and a Level 7 performance. She continued her good form in the high jump to take 2nd place in the B with an equal PB, and then ran an outstanding leg to set up the 4x300m win.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Isla Rogers</strong></td><td>Isla had a great day at the track picking up 22 individual points plus the relay. After a B string long jump victory, Isla again won the 800m with a strong fought race. She took an excellent javelin victory by 1cm, and then ran a memorable anchor leg to win the 4x300m against a strong Sutton Coldfield team.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Lottie O&#8217;Donoghue</strong></td><td>Not the YDL season opener that Lottie would have hoped for, but valuable points scored on her recovery from injury. Lottie filled in 3 out of 4 throwing events with 2nd place in the B shot, winning the B hammer, and 3rd place in the B javelin. A great effort for the team.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Lucy Hornby</strong></td><td>Lucy put in a couple of great throws for her warm-up events to throw a discus PB for 2nd place in the B, and 3rd place in the shot. She then ran a really strong 1500m for 3rd place to stop the clock within 1 second of her PB. Her final event was to run a strong leg in the 4x300m as part of the win.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Sophie Godber</strong></td><td>Sophie led her hurdle warm-up collective first thing in the morning and took 2nd place in the hurdles with a PB-equalling time. She ran a quick 100m as a non-scorer, and extended her PB in the discus for 2nd place. Her last outing of the day was the lead-off leg for the 4x100m with an excellent run to set the team up.</td></tr></tbody></table></figure>

Alex also ran the anchor leg in the 4x100m for 2nd place.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Freddie Burgess</strong></td><td>Another PB day for Freddie who knocked 0.2s off his 75m for 2nd place in the B. He ran another PB in the 1200m in a calm and measured victory, and also took 2nd place in the B shot put along the way. He took his usual place on 3rd leg of the relay team and ran a great bend.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Jack Kettle</strong></td><td>A last minute entry for Jack gave great results with a victory in the 75m hurdles, and then ran an excellent 800m time to get under 3 minutes.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Jack Ladkin</strong></td><td>A debut for Jack who ran an excellent time in the 75m in a very strong run. He also took 2nd place in the B high jump, and pulled out a nerve-wracking third round jump to win the B string long-jump. Looking forward to seeing more of him competing.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Jacob Gray</strong></td><td>Kudos for Jacob to throwing himself into this competition, and picking up extra events along the way. He started with 2nd place in the B 150m, and then stepped into the high jump to take 3rd place and an equal PB. He ran a strong 1200m to win the B and ran a great relay leg.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Morgan Mackenzie</strong></td><td>Another athlete who stepped in for a last minute event, Morgan gained valuable points for the team in the javelin. He ran close to his PB’s in the 75m and 150m and was a great starter for the 4x100m relay team.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>William Kemp</strong></td><td>Well done to Will for a good day. He recorded a PB to win the B string 800m, and then took 2nd place in the shot and recorded another strong PB in the javelin for 3rd place.</td></tr></tbody></table></figure>

  493. <figure class="wp-block-table"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Brodie Horler</strong></td><td>Another speedy day for Brodie who ran a super-quick 75m for 2nd place and then went on to win the long jump. She ran a great 2nd leg in the winning 4x100m relay team.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Ellie Lewis</strong></td><td>An unsung athlete in the team who threw a great PB in the shot to take 2nd place, and then won the B string javelin.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Emily Webb</strong></td><td>The team managers didn’t really help Emily who had a timetable clash between her high jump and 150m meaning she missed the middle heights but still jumped 1.10m. She won the B string in her first ever 150m in a great time.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Freya Armitage</strong></td><td>Freya picked up a victory in the B string hurdles, and then went onto run a tough 1200m for 3rd place in the B string in the heat of the day.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Grace Thompson-Moore</strong></td><td>Grace continued her fine hurdles form with a victory in the first race of the day for Tamworth. She then had a long wait before claiming 3rd place in the javelin with an equal PB.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Matilda Husselbee</strong></td><td>Matilda picked up excellent points for the team with a 2nd place in the B high jump and also a strong non-scoring 800m to complete her day.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Niamh Springett</strong></td><td>A newcomer to the team, Niamh ran a tough 800m in warm conditions to give her the first taste of competition.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Olivia Francis</strong></td><td>Another debutante was Olivia who took 2nd place in the shot put B string, and then ran an excellent Level 5 performance as a non-scorer in the 75m.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Robyn Edwards</strong></td><td>A relatively quiet day for Robyn who had her first outing over 1200m and ran a very measured race to take 3rd place.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Rosa Farmer</strong></td><td>Rosa ran strongly as always to take 1st place in the B 75m with a PB, and then 2nd in the A 150m. She held onto a narrow lead in the 4x100m to anchor home the team to victory.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Rose Young</strong></td><td>The relay team had been led off by a strong leg from Rose, setting up the win. She had earlier ran a great non-scoring 75m, and won the B string 800m.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Tilly Farmer</strong></td><td>A great all round performance from Tilly on the day, knocking 4 seconds off her 800mm PB to run out winner. She also won the B string long jump to give Tamworth maximum points from the U13 long-jumpers.</td></tr></tbody></table></figure>

She finished the day in the 4x100m team.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Stefi Honkowicz</strong></td><td>An excellent day for Stefi who ran the 300m B string for 1st place in a time of 49.8s (Level 2) and a PB over the distance. Her next event was the 3000m where she ran very impressively without any real competition to win in a time of 10:32.9 (Level 8 performance) which took 19 seconds off her previous best, and 11 seconds off the Tamworth AC record. This also puts her ranked 35 in the UK for Under 17 3000m at the moment. She finished her day with a first competitive triple jump taking 2nd place with a jump of 7.43m.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Niamh Kilgallen</strong></td><td>Older sister Niamh followed Jess around the stadium for the most events, and had her usual high-scoring day. Niamh took first place in the long jump with a distance of 5.20m (Level 6) and a new PB. She moved onto the High Jump with a clearance of 1.60m for 2nd place despite back pain which was a Level 8 performance. She went onto anchor the 4x100m relay for 3rd place.</td></tr></tbody></table></figure>

  582. <p>Fantastic to see so many athletes and families there, with eight clubs competing in Division 2, now that the league format has changed from 4 divisions to 3 divisions.</p>
  583.
  584.
  585.
  586. <p>Competing in a tough second division, Tamworth finished this first meeting in an excellent 4th place. Points were as follows;</p>
  587.
  588.
  589.
  590. <figure class="wp-block-table"><table><tbody><tr><td>BRAT </td><td>807</td></tr><tr><td>Banbury</td><td>554</td></tr><tr><td>Kidderminster &amp; Stourport</td><td>500</td></tr><tr><td>Tamworth</td><td>480</td></tr><tr><td>Corby</td><td>469</td></tr><tr><td>Royal Sutton Coldfield</td><td>463</td></tr><tr><td>Bromsgrove &amp; Redditch</td><td>416</td></tr><tr><td>Worcester</td><td>413</td></tr></tbody></table></figure>
  591.
  592.
  593.
  594. <p>As per previous posts, we have always had quality performances from Tamworth athletes at league meetings but sometimes a lot less athletes than other clubs, which has affected league position. At this meeting we had <strong>39 ATHLETES</strong> competing compared to 24 athletes at the corresponding H of E meeting at Redditch last year, so an absolutely fantastic turnout. !!</p>
  595.
  596.
  597.
  598. <p>A big thank you as well to all of those athletes competing in new events for the first time, in addition to their usual events. All of these events earn vital points for the club and are invaluable in achieving a higher league position.</p>
  599.

  602. <p><strong>U11&#8217;s</strong></p>
  603.
  604.
  605.
  606. <p>One of the great things about the Heart of England league is that Under-11 age athletes can compete in them, and while not point scoring towards the overall league totals, they get vital experience of track and field competition against other clubs in a big event.</p>
  607.
  608.
  609.
  610. <p>So a big well done to <strong>Dylan Thomas, Felix Farmer, Henry Rogers, Raylan Murray, Ella George, Relayla Murray and Freya Draycott</strong> for competing for us in the U11 events, a Heart of England debut for most of these athletes.</p>
  611.
  612.
  613.
  614. <p>All results are now on the wall in the clubhouse and will soon be on the Heart of England website and Power of 10 website. It would probably take me until the next meeting to go through all results given the number of athletes and events that they did, but overall there were lots of fantastic performances and loads of PBs achieved.</p>

  622. <p>Tamworth did have athletes that won their entire event and were &#8216;Athletes of the Match&#8217;. These were;</p>

  631. <li><strong>U13 Female High Jump &#8211; Emily Webb 1.29m</strong></li>
  632.
  633.
  634.
  635. <li><strong>U13 Female Long Jump &#8211; Brodie Horler 4.20m </strong>(a titanic battle with <strong>Tilly Farmer </strong>who achieved a big PB of her own 4.08m, our 2 Tamworth athletes were the top 2 in the whole event!)</li>
  636.
  637.
  638.
  639. <li><strong>U13 Female 200m &#8211; Rosa Farmer 29.2s </strong>(again in this event our 2 athletes were top 2 in the whole event with <strong>Emily Webb</strong> running a time of 29.4s to win the B race)</li>
  640.
  641.
  642.
  643. <li><strong>U17/20 Female High Jump &#8211; Niamh Kilgallen 1.45m</strong></li>

  648.
  649.
  650.
  651. <li><strong>Our U13 girls relay team (Brodie Horler, Emily Webb, Rosa Farmer and Ellie Lewis) also won their 4x100m race in 58.1 seconds</strong></li>
  652. </ul>
  653.
  654.
  655.
  656. <p>A great day all round and big thanks go to Team Manager, <strong>Matt Evans</strong>, this took a lot of coordinating with so many athletes doing so many events, <strong>Rob James</strong> for leading our officiating of events, all parents that helped Rob out with officiating on the day and, of course, all of the TAC coaches.</p>
  657.
  658.
  659.
  660. <p>The next Heart of England event is at Banbury on Saturday 17th June. Here&#8217;s to another big turnout and seeing the quality performances that we saw last Sunday.</p>
  661.
  662.
  663.
  664. <p>Come on Tamworth!</p>
