These sample question papers each contain 40 questions and have a suggested time limit of 30 minutes each. The questions are presented in Letter/A4 format for easy printing and self-marking.

Designed to be low maintenance, this front garden has massed plantings and no lawn. 567 Photography This California yard features low maintenance, yet lively plants.Shades of Green Landscape Architecture in Sausalito, CA. Low Maintenance Landscaping Ideas Use quality, long-lasting materials Reduce or replace your lawn Install garden edging Opt for perennials rather than annuals Install an efficient automatic irrigation system Low maintenance landscapes must be planned ahead of time. Many homeowners make the mistake of piecing their yard together here and there. This typically creates a landscape that requires more time and money to maintain than was anticipated. The best way to avoid this problem is to hire a professional landscape designer or architect to plan out your garden with reduced maintenance in mind. Simplicity of DesignLandscaping experts agree that a simple design is the key to a low maintenance landscape. Christopher Starbuck, an Associate Professor for the Division of Plant Sciences at the University of Missouri Extension, says, "Simplicity is characteristic both of good design and low-maintenance landscapes. Eliminate frills such as statues and water features, or design them for easy care and maintenance." Let the landscaping professional that you choose to work with know up front that you would like a simple, low-maintenance landscape. Low Maintenance PlantingAccording to Robert F. Brzuszek, an Assistant Extension Professor for The Department of Landscape Architecture at Mississippi State University, a low maintenance landscape must have the right size plant in the right place. If your designer keeps this in mind it will help you avoid constant pruning. Brzuszek also recommends planting in masses because plants are easier to care for and mow around when grouped. For the most success, mass plants with similar light, water and care needs. Mulching Skip Richter, the director of the Travis County AgriLife Extension (Texas A&M), recommends mulching as a way to reduce landscape maintenance needs. Benefits of mulching: Acts as a weed barrier Holds in moisture, which reduces watering Releases nutrients into the soil Improves the appearance of garden beds

This is a great question and very timely since, like yourself, most of the country is dealing with winter weather that is not always conducive for running outdoors. Winter is a great time to cross-train, so take advantage of adverse weather conditions and build yourself into a better runner! Yes, there is a recommended minimum distance for running and 3 miles is that magic number. Along with cutting back on mileage for the winter, it's also important to cut back on pace too. Keep winter runs at an easy conversational pace for maintenance purposes and to avoid burn out. In terms of weekly mileage, a maintenance schedule of 10 to 15 miles a week for 5k/10k training is perfectly adequate. A suggestion for minimal maintenance mileage is 3 miles, two times a week, with one slightly longer weekend run of 4 to 5 miles. When running outside is not an option, create a flexible winter training schedule that allows you to maintain your running fitness and do something different. Some suggestions are using the treadmill, the elliptical, or the stair master as an alternative. Indoor swimming, a rowing ergometer, or spin classes are also good aerobic substitutes. These aerobic options can be substituted for running or, even better, alternate them with your run days for additional aerobic base building. In addition to the aerobic benefits, mixing it up also recruits different muscle fibers, which helps to build additional strength, transforming you into a well-balanced and sound athlete. Use the winter months to work on muscular strength, endurance, and flexibility too. Weight training, and exercise classes like yoga, pilates, core, or stretching classes will also benefit your running. By the end of winter, you will be stronger, more flexible, and have a solid running base. With a little speed work, you will be ready to race!

1. Heat Exchanger – Inspected for cracks & deterioration Heat exchangers can develop cracks with age. If they exist, there is a risk of serious illness from the toxic fumes emitted. 2. Burners – Removed & cleaned if necessary Dirty burners can cause poor combustion, soot, condensation, and will shorten the life of the furnace. You pay for useful heat that ?goes up the chimney? instead of going into your house. 3. Fan Switch – Checked & adjusted A fan switch that is not properly adjusted can waste energy and cause nuisance fan cycling 4. Pilot & Pilot Assembly – Cleaned & adjusted as necessary Weak or dirty pilots can easily be extinguished causing the furnace to shut down 5. Safety Controls – Operationally inspected Safety controls that do not operate can cause dangerous problems. 6. Gas Line – Leak checked from the furnace shut off valve to the burners Undetected gas leaks are dangerous. 7. Combustion Air – Openings will be checked Blocked or restricted combustion air openings can be dangerous. 8. Flue Pipe – Inspected Flue pipe corrosion or leaks are dangerous. 9. Temperatures & Performance – Recorded An accurate record of vital data can indicate potential problems that can be eliminated. 10. Panels – Secure all panels Loose panels can increase operating costs and cause either a shutdown or a dangerous condition. 11. Controls & Safeties – Inspected & tested Controls and safeties that do not function properly can increase operation cost and cause other components to fail. 12. Lubrication – Application to motors & bearings Improperly lubricated rotating equipment will eventually fail. 13. Belts & Pulleys – Inspected & adjusted Loose belts and worn pulleys decrease air flow, increase operating costs and shorten the compressor’s life. Belts crack and break with age. 14. Air Filter – Replaced at customer’s option A restricted air filter can cause your air conditioning unit to waste energy and shorten the compressor’s life. 15. Voltage & Amp – Draw of the blower motor, compressor & condenser fan motors checked & recorded
