54.
Ibn Umar r.a reported that the Messenger s.a.w said, “Hijamah (cupping) on an empty stomach* is best. It increases the intellect and improves the memory. It improves the memory of the one memorising. So whoever is going to be cupped then (let it be) on a Thursday in the name of Allah. Keep away from being cupped on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Be cupped on a Monday or Tuesday. Do not be cupped on a Wednesday because it is the day that Ayoub was befallen with a trial. You will not find leprosy except (by being cupped) on Wednesday or Wednesday night.” [Saheeh Sunan ibn Maajah (3488)]. * ‘alaa ar-reeq in arabic means to fast until after being treated with cupping. Once the treatment of cupping has been completed, one may eat and drink. The cupping operation must be done before the breakfast. The Messenger of Allah s.a.w said, Hijama (cupping) before breakfast is optimal, and it has cure and benediction. It is forbidden for a person to be cupped to take in any morsel whatsoever in the morning of cupping, but to remain fasting until it is performed upon him. He is permitted to drink a cup of coffee or tea for the sugar it contains is little and it does not need complicated digestive operations which stir the blood, activate the blood circulation, affect the blood pressure, and the heart beats. Also this little quantity of tea or coffee contains a simple nerve stimulant which makes the person undergo cupping in a wakeful case. For this reason the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w prohibited eating before applying cupping for it activates the digestive system and the blood circulation in order to recompense the digestive operations which lead to the increase in heart beats, blood flow, and a high blood pressure. This case will move the precipitated residues of the sluggish and retired blood in the superficial and deep blood vessels and capillaries in the region of the upper back (these unwanted materials of blood gather during sleeping). Also blood flow is activated during the distribution of the digested nutrients in order to feed the body tissues. Such a situation does not fit cupping. If cupping is performed in similar condition, the blood isn’t filtered by this operation (Cupping), so the withdrawn blood is the working blood (not the spoiled blood which is full of impurities as dead red blood cells and R.B. cell ghosts) and we have lost the expected benefit from cupping. In this case, the cupped person will also suffer from slight vertigo or syncope as a result of the insufficient quantity of blood which irrigates the brain.

 87.

 88.
Fast food has a long history. It started in America in the 18th century. Initially, cheap and substandard types of burgers were available only at stalls in fairs and circuses etc. Later in the 19th century, the first food chain called “White Castle” came into existence, which served high-quality burgers to its customers in restaurants. After that, McDonald’s brothers started their food chain McDonald’s in 1948 and soon the trend of fast food started to develop rapidly in the rapidly changing world.

 89.
Fast food not only emerged as a trend among the youth of this era, but it also benefited those who could not afford home-cooked meals while working. And they were eager to eat clean and healthy food during their short break time.

 90.
Gradually, the popularity of fast food began to spread throughout the world with Europe and America. During this time, famous foreign food chains expanded their network and fast food culture began to develop rapidly in countries around the world. The fast food culture from the West reached the East and other regions of the world. Medical experts and health related organizations have declared fast food as harmful, but due to the rapid development of the times and lack of time, this culture started spreading rapidly all over the world.

 91.
Medical experts recommend avoiding excessive consumption of fast food, as they are very high in calories.

 92.
The increasing use of fast food has completely changed the social life of Pakistanis. Due to late breakfast and late dinner, people’s social life is now limited to hotels instead of home and family. People who were fond of eating and being fed well, now prefer to eat and feed in hotels instead of having traditional food feasts at home, which is de-emphasizing traditional family systems and relationships. Fast food restaurants have also significantly reduced the prices of their products after midnight, forcing people, especially the youth, to stay out of their homes after midnight.

 93.
30 years ago there used to be famous ‘dhabas’ in Lahore for various food items. Now there are around 20 thousand hotels and restaurants in Lahore.

 94.
The number of shops selling burger, biryani, haleem, roast, gola kebab, chapali kebab, nihari, pie, sandwich and other food items in Karachi has exceeded three lakh. At present, the most popular business in Karachi is food and drink.

 95.
Today, we see burger houses, pizza shops, yogurt shops, round-gap carts everywhere. Whenever you pass by them, it feels like the whole nation is spending on fast food instead of eating at home. These foods are many times more expensive than home food and are also harmful to health. By the way, we keep crying about inflation everywhere, but even if you go to a shop, a carriage or a restaurant, you will see people from all walks of life.

 96.
According to medical experts, it is very disturbing that a child whose body is still going through the stages of development should prefer a cold drink to milk and a burger to bread. Due to the lack of any kind of check on advertising, there has also been a problem. Television and newspapers also feature cute advertisements of different types of burgers by big corporations and cheesy pictures that change the minds of innocent children. Children are highly influenced by these advertisements and then demand from their parents that they must eat burgers, pizza and chips. Parents generally cannot disown children. As a result, unhealthy habits are being promoted. According to experts, if these types of diets are not controlled, soon the majority of boys and girls between the ages of 13 and 20 will be seen turning to health clinics. Due to the growing trend of fast food, obesity is increasing rapidly, especially among girls. A girl has a tough time when obesity takes hold and this obesity is caused by excessive consumption of burgers and cold drinks. She realizes this when her friends make fun of her for being lazy.

 97.
If you want to avoid this disease, strictly control your eating habits. Instead of burgers and cold drinks, use milk and vegetables in your diet. They help in reducing excess fat on the body. While obesity not only affects the physical structure but also has bad effects on the child’s mind. When a child gains weight, a social problem also arises along with it. The IQ level of the child also becomes very low. In ancient times, when people went on a long journey, they would carry weeks and months of food and rations with them. After traveling for miles, if they found an inn in a city, they used to rest there for a while and eat food. As time progressed, dirt roads gave way to paved roads and highways, and inns, restaurants, and hotels began to change. Now you don’t have to worry about food on the way when you travel from one city to another or from one country to another.

 98.
At the time of creation of Pakistan, we neither had any motorway nor any international highway. Now you will find all kinds of hoteling services from Truck Hotel to McVay Hotel. In our country, going out to eat is considered a “status symbol”. In some cities, “food streets” have also been created to attract the attention of tourists. Roadside hotels and food streets in big cities attract a large number of people. Nowadays, eating by sitting on the roadside is becoming a culture.

 99.
Nutritionists say that sharp spices are used in some foods, and various chemical ingredients are added to quickly digest the meat, which play an important role in destroying the human stomach after consumption. Spice rush and loss in its place Another thing that harms human health is the open air of these eating places. The ratio of pollution and dust in the atmosphere of Lahore is high compared to other regions and cities of Pakistan.

 100.
Most months of the year are subject to intense and moderate heat. Such a climate is conducive to the breeding of mosquitoes, flies, germs, viruses, insects, red bugs, rats. Since these eateries are located in dirty roadside areas, a layer of dust usually forms on the food items. In this environment, the invisible effects of particles of garbage, fine powder of soil and dirt flying from the friction of shoes add another layer to it. After that, the smoke of rickshaws, buses and stoves plying in the city puts a third layer on these food items in the form of pollution. After that, the movement of bees, the appetizing food is loaded with various germs and viruses. In this way, these so-called delicious foods become an anti-gastric rocket and land in the human stomach and along with the stomach, intestines, liver and kidneys.

 101.
Nutritionists say that every fourth person in Pakistan is a patient of ulcer. These ulcers spread from the stomach to the small and large intestines. The main cause of stomach and intestinal ulcers is excess of hot spices and red pepper. Cheap ghee and fat are used instead of standard ghee. This oil has been declared as a poison for human health by the Ministry of Health, as cheap ghee and oil contain a toxic element that injures the intestinal membrane. Unhealthy fats also play an important role in throat and tonsil disorders and raise blood cholesterol levels dangerously. Then it reaches a certain limit and freezes in the delicate veins of the human heart. Therefore, first the human heartbeat loses its regularity, then heart attacks appear as a permanent disease threatening the human life. Excess of acidic element has harmful effects on kidney and liver.

 102.
It is said about Thils Lams etc that food is provided here at low cost. This is true to some extent, but these people sometimes resort to actions that are not morally or legally correct in order to compete with each other. There have also been instances where the meat of sick and half-dead animals was seized from these stalls. Such acts are done just for the sake of a few bucks, as if human life has no value in the eyes of those who sell these things.

 132.

 133.
The most common misunderstanding regarding one of the most powerful and beneficial after effects of cupping is the marks that sometimes result.

 134.
When injuries take place deep in the muscle, bleeding often occurs causing deep bruises. There will also be edema in the area involving the coagulation of sticky proteins. The combining presence of these elements usually results in stagnation of circulation of the area – resulting in pain, dysfunction, and chronic conditions.

 135.
The vacuum formed by Cupping draws up the old non-circulating stagnant blood and sticky fluids from the area, bringing them up to the surface and away from the injury so that healthy free circulation can be restored to the affected area, thus make space for oxygen, living cells and nutrients for faster recovery.

 136.
Where there is dead, static blood, lymph, cellular debris, pathogenic factors, and toxins present in the body, Cupping can leave marks which indicates that the stagnation or disease has been moved from the deeper tissue layers to the surface.

 137.
In many countries – this is a non-issue; they’ve experienced themselves the amazing detoxifying effects suction therapy can provide. But in some industrialized countries where Allopathic Medicine still over shadows more holistic, natural approaches, these surface discolorations are misinterpreted as damage rather than result of debilitating agents being drawn to the surface. Westerns also live in an image conscience society that also has a heightened sensitivity to domestic abuse so without sufficient understanding some people are unnerved upon seeing this important after effect.

 138.
Once people understand what these marks are, and feel the results, the concerns disappear.

 139.
The color and pattern of the marks depend on the level of stagnation in the area, and range from a bright red to dark purple, usually lasting three days to a week. Sometimes longer if the person is very sick or sedentary. If there is no stagnation present, there will be only a light pink mark which disappears in a few minutes to a couple of hours. Sites where there is old trauma or injury may require multiple cupping sessions to remove all stagnation. You will find in follow up sessions the marks will be visibly lighter and lighter as the pathogens are systemically removed from the body.

 140.

 141.
The chemicals used in the pools that these athletes train and compete in for many hours every day is highly toxic. Cupping draws these toxins out of the body which would otherwise lead to stagnation, blood poison, pain and dysfunction.
142. Many athletes turn to cupping on a regular basis to detoxify and enhance their performance.

 143.
Many unfamiliar to Cupping Therapy refer to the Cup Marks as Bruises. In our society Bruising is considered an injury.

 144.
Bruising is caused by impact trauma with breakage of capillaries and a reactionary rush of fluids to the damaged location from the tissue injury. There is no compression in correctly performed suction cup therapy. Although it is quite common during Stationary Dry Cupping (left static for 5-20 minutes – see below) to achieve dramatic “marks” or “discolorations”, the less aggressive action of moving the cups, minimizes the intensity and duration of the discolorations.

 145.
Often, when a condition exists within deeper structures where sufficient pathologic factors and stagnant fluids (toxins, blood and lymph) are dredged up during treatment, discoloration will appear on the epidermis. As sessions cumulate and the release of stagnation and buildup has been released, dispersed and drained – (sometimes quickly after the 2nd session) no discoloration is likely to occur at all – even though each time the cupping may have been focused on the same area, for the same duration, and with the same amount of suction. This action is clearly the result of having internal unwanted toxins systematically purged.

 182.
When circulation is sluggish or compromised in an injured or diseased area of the body, insufficient oxygen gets to the cells, and there will be a local build-up of waste products. When the skin is pressed, the blanching that occurs is slow to fade.

 183.

 184.
Suction pulls toxins, pathogenic factors, dead lymph and cellular debris from deep within the tissues to the surface. These debilitating agents are then more easily expelled from the body. The deposits dissipate from a few hours up to several weeks, depending on the amount of stagnation and the patients post treatment activities.

 185.
The quality of the pathogenic factors varies according to the severity of the patient’s blood stasis—which correlates with the nature, severity and type of condition they have.

 186.
These are all results of disease and toxins being removed from deep within the tissues.

 187.
The more discoloration that surfaces – the greater level of stagnation and toxicity needed to be purged from the body. Usually, I will see the greatest amount of deposits being drawn to the surface in the first few sessions – this is a good thing. The deposits will lessen in intensity as the deeper tissues are resolved and the stagnations and toxins have been dredged up and flushed out via the body’s own circulatory systems, expulsion from the pores and sweat. Sweating is a great after treatment follow up for clients to help get rid of the garbage you have released.

 188.
Although the marks look painful, they are not. Clients usually feel an immediate sense of relief.

 189.

 190.
Blisters on Skin:
191. They are bubbles that pop up when fluid collects in pockets under the top layer of your skin. They can be filled with pus, blood, or the clear, watery part of your blood called serum. Most are shaped like circles. Depending on the cause, your blister could itch or hurt a lot or a little. They can appear as a single bubble or in clusters. This usually happens with people having a greasy skin; such patients release lesser blood & may need deeper incisions for a good drainage.
192. With the very first incision, a good Hijamah/Cupping therapist should be able to predict skin’s condition.

 193.
For such patients (oily skin), suction should not be very tight; and if the patient is not draining enough blood, cups should be removed after 5 minutes & applied on other areas. This technique will prevent the formation of blisters.

 225.
The Syrians were used to betake themselves to the British capital seeking for channels of treating their diseases of which they were desperate, or they came to make medical checkups or to perform some complicated medical operations. Such a way of acting on the part of the Syrians seemed very normal, but the unexpected act was the change in their destination from Great Britain towards the Syrian capital. A scientific medical team representing the British Royal Family began communications and dialogues with a group of Syrian physicians in Damascus in search for the cupping operation for the treatment of the hereditary disease, hemophilia. The disease confirmed its recovery in a number of sick people in Syria by means of cupping operations.A spokesman on behalf of the professor Abdul-kader Dayrani, a verifier and a publisher of the books of the Damascene erudite who vitalized the cupping operation and restored its correct methods. The spoke man added that a delegation communicated with him to acquaint themselves with the medical studies done on hundreds of Syrian and Arab patients through the precise and accurate procedures which led to astonishing results for most diseases, especially hemophilia. He also mentioned that the first start for cupping in history was during the era of the most highborn the Arab Messenger. He also added that the scientific techniques and procedures of cupping were lost as time passed until the late Damascene erudite and scholar Mohammad Amin Sheikho brought the procedures of cupping to light anew.

 226.
Dr. Abdulmalek Al-Shalati, a specialist in neural diseases from UK and a professor in Damascus University, said to the BBC, in his talk, that the performance of cupping operations in its strict regular conditions on a group of patients gave amazing results in the complete recovery of many cases of cancer, paralysis, the problematic hemophilia, angina pectoris, Hodgkin’s disease, and some improvements in asthma, rheumatism, and other cases of disease. All these cases were confirmed foundings in clinical examinations, radiological and laboratory investigations performed on patients.

 471.
Blood is classified as a connective tissue and consists of two main components:

 472.

 473.
Plasma, which is a clear extracellular fluid

 474.
Formed elements, which are made up of the blood cells and platelets

 475.

 476.
The formed elements are so named because they are enclosed in a plasma membrane and have a definite structure and shape. All formed elements are cells except for the platelets, which tiny fragments of bone marrow cells.

 477.
Formed elements are:

 478.

 479.
Erythrocytes, also known as red blood cells (RBCs)

 480.
Leukocytes, also known as white blood cells (WBCs)

 481.
Platelets

 482.

 483.

 484.
Leukocytes are further classified into two subcategories called granulocytes which consist of neutrophils, eosinophils and basophils; and agranulocytes which consist of lymphocytes and monocytes.

 485.
The formed elements can be separated from plasma by centrifuge, where a blood sample is spun for a few minutes in a tube to separate its components according to their densities. RBCs are denser than plasma, and so become packed into the bottom of the tube to make up 45% of total volume. This volume is known as the haematocrit. WBCs and platelets form a narrow cream-coloured coat known as the buffy coat immediately above the RBCs. Finally, the plasma makes up the top of the tube, which is a pale yellow colour and contains just under 55% of the total volume.

 486.
Blood plasma

 487.
Blood plasma is a mixture of proteins, enzymes, nutrients, wastes, hormones and gases. The specific composition and function of its components are as follows:

 488.

489. Proteins

 490.
These are the most abundant substance in plasma by weight and play a part in a variety of roles including clotting, defence and transport. Collectively, they serve several functions:

 491.

 492.
They are an important reserve supply of amino acids for cell nutrition. Cells called macrophages in the liver, gut, spleen, lungs and lymphatic tissue can break down plasma proteins so as to release their amino acids. These amino acids are used by other cells to synthesise new products.

 493.
Plasma proteins also serve as carriers for other molecules. Many types of small molecules bind to specific plasma proteins and are transported from the organs that absorb these proteins to other tissues for utilisation. The proteins also help to keep the blood slightly basic at a stable pH. They do this by functioning as weak bases themselves to bind excess H+ ions. By doing so, they remove excess H+ from the blood which keeps it slightly basic.

 494.
The plasma proteins interact in specific ways to cause the blood to coagulate, which is part of the body’s response to injury to the blood vessels (also known as vascular injury), and helps protect against the loss of blood and invasion by foreign microorganisms and viruses.

 495.
Plasma proteins govern the distribution of water between the blood and tissue fluid by producing what is known as a colloid osmotic pressure.

 496.

 497.
There are three major categories of plasma proteins, and each individual type of proteins has its own specific properties and functions in addition to their overall collective role:

 498.

 499.
Albumins, which are the smallest and most abundant plasma proteins. Reductions in plasma albumin content can result in a loss of fluid from the blood and a gain of fluid in the interstitial space (space within the tissue), which may occur in nutritional, liver and kidney disease. Albumin also helps many substances dissolve in the plasma by binding to them, hence playing an important role in plasma transport of substances such as drugs, hormones and fatty acids.

 500.
Globulins, which can be subdivided into three classes from smallest to largest in molecular weight into alpha, beta and gamma globulins. The globulins include high density lipoproteins (HDL), an alpha-1 globulin, and low density lipoproteins (LDL), a beta-1 globulin. HDL functions in lipid transport carrying fats to cells for use in energy metabolism, membrane reconstruction and hormone function. HDLs also appear to prevent cholesterol from invading and settling in the walls of arteries. LDL carries cholesterol and fats to tissues for use in manufacturing steroid hormones and building cell membranes, but it also favours the deposition of cholesterol in arterial walls and thus appears to play a role in disease of the blood vessels and heart. HDL and LDL therefore play important parts in the regulation of cholesterol and hence have a large impact on cardiovascular disease.

 501.
Fibrinogen, which is a soluble precursor of a sticky protein called fibrin, which forms the framework of blood clot. Fibrin plays a key role in coagulation of blood, which is discussed later in this article under Platelets.

 502.

 503.
Granulocytes

 504.

 505.
Neutrophils: These contain very fine cytoplasmic granules that can be seen under a light microscope. Neutrophils are also called polymorphonuclear (PMN) because they have a variety of nuclear shapes. They play roles in the destruction of bacteria and the release of chemicals that kill or inhibit the growth of bacteria.

 506.
Eosinophils: These have large granules and a prominent nucleus that is divided into two lobes. They function in the destruction of allergens and inflammatory chemicals, and release enzymes that disable parasites.

 507.
Basophils: They have a pale nucleus that is usually hidden by granules. They secrete histamine which increases tissue blood flow via dilating the blood vessels, and also secrete heparin which is an anticoagulant that promotes mobility of other WBCs by preventing clotting.

 508.

 509.

510. Vascular spasm

 511.
This is a prompt constriction of the broken blood vessel and is the most immediate protection against blood loss. Injury stimulates pain receptors. Some of these receptors directly innervate nearby blood vessels and cause them to constrict. After a few minutes, other mechanisms take over. Injury to the smooth muscle of the blood vessel itself causes a longer-lasting vasoconstriction where platelets release a chemical vasoconstrictor called serotonin. This maintains vascular spasm long enough for the other haemostatic mechanisms to come into play.

 512.

513. Platelet plug formation

 514.
Under normal conditions, platelets do not usually adhere to the wall of undamaged blood vessels, since the vessel lining tends to be smooth and coated with a platelet repellent. When a vessel is broken, platelets put out long spiny extensions to adhere to the vessel wall as well as to other platelets. These extensions then contract and draw the walls of the vessel together. The mass of platelets formed is known as a platelet plug, and can reduce or stop minor bleeding.

 515.

516. Coagulation

 517.
This is the last and most effective defence against bleeding. During bleeding, it is important for the blood to clot quickly to minimise blood loss, but it is equally important for blood not to clot in undamaged vessels. Coagulation is a very complex process aimed at clotting the blood at appropriate amounts. The objective of coagulation is to convert plasma protein fibrinogen into fibrin, which is a sticky protein that adheres to the walls of a vessel. Blood cells and platelets become stuck to fibrin, and the resulting mass helps to seal the break in the blood vessel. The forming of fibrin is what makes coagulation so complicated, as it involved numerous chemicals reactions and many coagulation factors.

 548.
Abu Hurairah r.a reported that the Messenger s.a.w said, “If there was something excellent to be used as a remedy then it is hijamah (cupping).” [Saheeh Sunan abi Dawud (3857), Saheeh Sunan ibn Maajah (3476)].

 549.
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “When Allah creates a disease, He also sends down its cure and its cure.” Al-Bukhari

 550.
Hazrat Abu Huraira (RA) narrates from the Prophet (PBUH) that among the things you treat with, there is good and improvement in it, it is Hijama. Ibn Majah, Abu Dawud

 551.
Hazrat Abu Bakshah Anmari (RA) says that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) used to apply hijama on the head and between the two shoulders, and he used to say that the person who has removed his dirty blood through the nose has no fear, because he Do not treat any disease. Ibn Majah, Abu Dawud

 552.
Imam Malik, may God have mercy on him, has written in his work “Al-Muta'” that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: If there is any remedy that eradicates the disease, it is hijama. Imam Malik

 553.
These hadiths prove a very important point that in Hijama there is a cure for every disease for which a cure has not yet been discovered.

 554.
Al Hijamah (Cupping Therapy) is the blessing and cure to every disease. Go through with this treatment with full Yaqeen and cure by Sada’qaat. Allah s.w.t has the only authority to cure us.

 555.
See the following list of diseases which are cured by Hijamah (Cupping Therapy). The list of diseases is taken from book “Al Hijamah Elaaj Bhee Sunnah Bhee” by Dr. Amjad Ahsan Ali d.b.

 1471.

 1472.
Cupping is an ancient method of causing local congestion, were a vacuum is created with the use of vessels, which are placed on the skin either by means of heat or suction, which then draws up the underlying tissues. When the cups are left in place on the skin for a few minutes, blood stasis is formed and localized healing takes place.
1473. Cupping is considered with others to be the oldest natural healing therapies. History tells us about Archaeologists who found evidence of cupping therapy being practiced from as early as 3000 B.C. Also in the evidence that was uncovered there were documents supporting the application of the cupping vessels and instruments used on the body as therapeutic procedure?
1474. The earliest record of cupping is around 1,550 B.C. by the Egyptians .This document was called Ebers Papyrus; one of the oldest medical textbooks in the world, which was dated by the material it was written on, called papyrus, this papyrus like paper was prepared in ancient Egypt from the pithy stem of a water plant. The Papyrus like paper was also widely used throughout the ancient Mediterranean world in the writing of important documents. Anthropologists also found evidence in China of cupping dating as far back as 1,000 B.C. The history of Chinese cupping is a long history of healing and innovation. It was an ancient Taoist medical practice was widely used in the courts of Imperial China.

 1475.
Its administration was first documented by Ge Hong, in an ancient article called Handbook of Prescriptions for Emergencies. Ge Hong was a practicing Taoist, an alchemist, and a medicinal herbalist. He was famous for his accomplished of being a healer and a trusted confidante of many high officials in ancient China.
1476. Ge Hong along with other medicine men used animal horns for cupping. That is why in some medical articles of the empire, cupping was referred to as the horn technique of healing. This led researchers to believe that cupping was indeed a Chinese invention and its practice was older than stated in recorded history. This ancient method has been proven effective against common disorders associated with the pulmonary system. The Chinese expanded the use of the cupping technique to surgery, this was called wet cupping. Other ancient cultures including the Egyptians and early Greeks are all embraced the therapeutic value of cupping. Hippocrates (c. 400 B.C.) used cupping for internal disease and structural problems. Hippocrates was known as the Father of Modern Medicine, during this golden era of the early Greek state Hippocrates and his followers were devoted to an empiric approach to healing and sought naturalistic explanations of why people became ill.
1477. The Cupping technique soon spread through the medicine world, throughout Asian and European civilizations. Each country is having their own name for cupping therapy and having their own methods of cupping. Here are some of the names that cupping is referred to in other cultures;

 1478.
Hijamah / Hijama / Baguanfa / jiaofa / Bentusa /
1479. Vendouse, Gac Hoi / Bahnkes, Kyukaku / Ventosaterapia /
1480. Schr–pftherapie / Kupa Cekme / Jiaofa / Bankovani /
1481. Ventouzzes and Vacuume Terapi.

 1482.
History also tells us of the cupping devices used in conducting the cupping technique. In the ancient scrolls , anthropologists deciphered and described from the scriptures of how hollow animal horns were used and oral suction was applied to create a vacuum to drain toxins and draw out illnesses, whether they were bites, stings, infections or any other forms of disease in that era. With the pointed end of the horn pierced the horn was then placed on the surface of the skin. The vacuum was then created by orally sucking the air out of the horn through the hole. when the vacuum was achieved, the end of the horn was then sealed with a wad of dried grass which would be immediately placed into the opening by the nimble workings of the tongue, another way to cause suction was for the medicine men to burn dry leaves or paper which would place it inside the horn to produce suction and left until the heat dissipates.
1483. History also tells us that not only was cupping used for healing but they also had beliefs about what could enter the body and mind, such as evil spirits which could cause pain and suffering. Many researchers including anthropologists described how healers of these super naturalistic traditions applied oral suction to the surface of the body to withdraw the effects of these evil influences.
1484. Through all the different cultures and civilizations different forms of cupping vessels were used. Along shoreline of the west coast of North America, Vancouver Island, sea shells were used, In Europe, Asia, Africa, and North America, horns from various animals were made into cupping devices, among the Kelantanese Malays were buffalo horn.

 1485.
As time moved on the horns then devolved into bamboo cups, bamboo cupping still is practised today in some regions of china. The bamboo cups were immerged in boiling water to absorb the liquid heat, the heated bamboo cups were then positioned to specific points on the body, resulting with the hot and cold imbalances which created a vacuum inducing suction to the skin, the healers would leave the bamboo cups stationary for about 10 minutes, the cups would be reheated again and the procedure continues. Throughout history eventually cupping vessels changed and have been replaced by glass, plastic and rubber with exceptions of the bamboo cup still used today.
1486. The two main methods of cupping practised wildly throughout history and also documented in the Ebers Papyrus, and Hippocrates were, Bleeding or wet cupping and Dry cupping.

 1487.
Dry cupping – This procedure involves creating a vacuum into the cup bringing blood and lymph to a pacific area, promoting circulation and healing, In addition it will help break adhesions between the skin and underlying connective tissues, allowing for freer movement, pulling the local underlying tissue up into the cupping vessel.

 1488.
Moist or wet cupping – This is the oldest and the most effective method. A surgical tool called a lancet is used to scrape the skin, the glass is then placed over the manipulated area, and with the suction pulling the blood, which is then drawn up into the glass cup.
1489. As history moved on and we moved on in centuries, more cupping therapy methods devolved and have become more into worldwide use.

 1490.
Fire Cupping – Another traditional Chinese method of cupping used worldwide. A small cotton ball is lightly coated with alcohol. The cotton ball is then ignited and inserted inside the cup which will evacuate the air, creating the vacuum. The cotton ball is then withdrawn from the cup; the cup is then quickly placed onto the skin to the chosen area.

 1491.
Massage or moving cupping – This is done by applying oil to the skin, by moving the cup or glass around with a weak suction over the area that needs to be worked on.

 1492.
Needle cupping – This method is a combination of acupuncture and cupping. The acupuncture needle is applied first, and then the glass is applied over it.

 1493.
The hot cupping technique – This is done with moxa, also known as dried mugwort. This herb is a warming herb. To do this treatment the needles are warmed with smoldering dried mugwort, and then applied to the appropriate area. The cups are then applied over the top.

 1494.
The flash technique – This is a method where several medium cupping are done several times in quick succession. This stimulates the tissues in the area to speed up the healing process.

 1495.
Herbal cupping – This is done by applying the appropriate herbal tincture to the inside of the glass, and then the glass is applied to the skin.

 1496.
The water technique – This would be the least used method of cupping. It is a very difficult method to learn. One third of the glass is filled with warm water and held very close to where it’s to be placed onto the body. Burning cotton wool is quickly inserted inside the glass, while the glass is swiftly turned over and placed in position. If done correctly, no water should be spilled.

 1497.
Stationary cupping – The cups are placed onto the desired location and left on the same spot for ten to fifteen minutes. Several cups may be applied in a single treatment. To release the cups, press the skin around the cup this will breaks the seal ready for removal.

 1498.
Momentary cupping – The cups are ‘popped’ on and off rapidly

 1499.
Magnetic / Hand – Pump This have become the most modern way of cupping for many practitioners, the use of a hand pump to obtain suction. This can give several advantages to the practitioner, no need for a flame or flammable liquids. It is also easier to judge the amount of suction needed, the magnetic are placed inside the cups the cups are then placed on allocated points, and suction is then applied.

 1500.
At the beginning cupping method was mainly used for miner elements but as time has moved on, we have found that cupping has many more benefits and healing powers,

 1501.

 1502.
Common cold and cough

 1503.
Menstrual pain (endometriosis)

 1504.
Headaches including migraine

 1505.
Infertility

 1506.
Breathing difficulties (asthma)

 1507.
Urinary incontinence

 1508.
Diarrhea and constipation

 1509.
Hypertension (high blood pressure)

 1510.
Hypotension (low blood pressure)

 1511.
Tonsillitis and sore throat

 1512.
Angina pectoris (heart pain)

 1513.
Stomach aches and heart burn

 1514.
Hand, leg, neck and back pain

 1515.
Neuralgia (nerve pain)

 1516.
Osteoarthritis and gout

 1517.
Diabetes

 1518.

 1519.
The benefits of cupping therapies are endless due to its stimulating and the strengthening effects. Although cupping is brilliant treatments in it there are some diseases that cupping therapy can not treat,
1520. Congenital (present at birth) and genetic diseases like down syndrome, cerebral palsy, cleft lip, hole-in-heart, congenital dislocation of the hip, Trauma and accidents, broken bones and joints, open wound, torn muscles, tissue and organ damage, internal bleeding, and excessive bleeding. However Cupping Therapy can promote quicker recovery and better healing of these conditions due to improvement of the blood circulation.
1521. Although cupping therapy can treat everybody, there are some exceptions, Children below 10 years old, adults above 70 years old with heart problems, pregnant women, patients recovering from surgery, weak and thin people suffering from lack of blood. And people with threatening conditions, heart attack, asthmatic attack, trauma and accidents.

 1522.
In the mid-1800, s there was a decline in cupping therapy, it was sharply criticized by the medical community making cupping therapy fall away as a popular method. There are a number of issues related to why this was happening, during this period [mid – 1800] there was a newly established scientific model of medicine, discrediting all other previously established Traditional therapies in order to gain medical dominance. It was said that treating the inside was preference to the outside. More and more research was being put into the science of illnesses and diseases and more medics were becoming more available to help combat these diseases and were becoming widely used in hospitals and clinics achieving what were thought to be impossible.
1523. However over the 19th, 20th and 21st century the tides have turned and people are rediscovering and some practices have welcomed the acknowledgment, as well as reinstating alternative therapies.
1524. Although the use of Cupping has remained popular throughout many cultures who kept to their traditional ways, the 20th century witnessed a widespread decrease in many Anglo-Saxon societies. Even the North American Indians who used Buffalo Horn, seashells, gourds and bones for Cupping, but their culture have been decimated and the people herded into reservations, their traditions of health maintenance and healing were also lost.

 1525.
The most common and misunderstanding regarding one of the most powerful and beneficial after effects of cupping is the marks that are left on the skin. Cupping can leave marks which indicate that the stagnation or disease has been moved from the deeper tissue layers to the surface, allowing fresh oxygenated blood to nourish and heal the underlying areas. Any suction device left long enough in one place will loosen and pull this agent out and up to the skin surface.
1526. In many countries this is a non-issue, they’ve experienced themselves the amazing detoxifying effects that suction therapy can provide. But in some industrialized countries, where Allopathic Medicine has over shadowed more holistic, natural approaches, these surface discolorations are misinterpreted as damage rather the result of debilitating agents being drawn to the surface. People don’t look upon these marks as a healing process or the importance of the after effect they just see circular markings, but once people understand what these marks are, the colour the patterns of the marks depending on the level of stagnation in that area, the range of colour from the marks can vary from bright red to dark purple, usually lasting up to 3 days to one week sometimes longer if the person is very sick or sedentary. If there is no stagnation present, there will be only a light pink mark which disappears in a few minutes to a couple of hours. Where there is old trauma or injury may require multiple cupping treatments to remove all stagnation. You will find in follow up treatments the marks will be visibly lighter and lighter as the pathogens are systemically removed from the body.

 1527.
Now in the twenty first century alternative therapies are becoming more popular, cupping therapy is now receiving additional credit and the world of medicine are recognizing that alternative therapies do have great beneficial to our health. More people are turning back to the beginning to find alternative healing. People are now looking for more choices, other than drugs, their wanting something none invasive, calming, and relaxing. Cupping has developed into a very popular technique. By what we see and read through the media, papers and magazines, especially in America,
