  37. <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Court HAS orderED Mohbad’s wife Wunmi to do DNA test. Wunmi who is the wife of the late signer Ilerioluwa Aloba popularly known as Mohbad.</p>
  38. <p>A Magistrate Court sitting in the Ikorodu area of Lagos has ordered that singer late Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi, be served notice of a pending DNA test application, by substituted means.</p>
  39. <p>The DNA order has come soon after Nigerians started saying that the child is not Mohbad’s son. Is Sam Larry son because he looks exactly like him not his late father Mohbad.</p>
  40. <p>Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known professionally as Mohbad or Imole was a Nigerian rapper, singer and songwriter from Lagos. He was formerly signed to Naira Marley’s Marlian Records and left the label in 2022.</p>
  41. <p>Mohbad died on 12 September 2023, at the age of 27, in Lagos. The nurse who administered a Tetanus vaccine on him, was arrested and found to be an unlicensed nurse on 19 September 2023 by the Lagos state police Command.</p>

  66. <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Minister of Homeland Security Ken Zikhale Ng&#8217;oma has said he will not resign over issues surrounding hitches surrounding the resumption of passport issuance at the Immigration Department.</p>
  67. <p>The Immigration Department suspended passport printing two months ago after unknown people hacked the system used to print passport.</p>
  68. <p>Last month, Ng&#8217;oma and some official from the Immigration told Malawians that the state owned institution has resumed printing of the passport.</p>
  69. <p>But since then no Malawian has been issued with the new passport.</p>
  70. <p>This afternoon Ken Zikhale Ng&#8217;oma stormed Immigration Department to see for himself the challenges that Malawians are facing in the course of pushing for their passport.</p>
  71. <p>Speaking to press after the meeting with Immigration officials Zikhale Ng&#8217;oma said he will not resign from his post.</p>
  72. <p>Ng&#8217;oma said the Tonse Alliance government is currently working on solutions to end the challenges hindering the passport printing in the country.</p>

  99. <p>The just registered political party, National Development Party (NDP), Frank Mwenifumbo has vehemently distanced itself from media reports that it is behind political misunderstandings in Alliance for Democracy (AFORD).</p>
  100. <p>On Wednesday, some media houses reported that NDP leadership was the one who sponsored AFORD youths to chase their Secretary General, Wakuda Kamanga out of his office and party.</p>
  101. <p>They further alleged that NDP is getting fund from the ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP) in order to kill AFORD.<br />
  102. But reacting to the development on Thursday, the party&#8217;s interim President Frank Mwenifumbo described the accusations as political propaganda that aimed at destroying NDP image.</p>
  103. <p>According to him, NDP leadership  has nothing to do with internal squabbles of AFORD or any other political party in the country.</p>
  104. <p>He wondered how Kamanga joined NDP especially if its leadership was behind political thugs who were baying for his blood early this month at AFORD&#8217;s office.  </p>
  105. <p>&#8220;It doesn&#8217;t make sense. You sponsor a group to chase someone from his or her house and that person decided to seek a refugee in your house despite having a knowledge? I don&#8217;t think Kamanga would have joined NDP if indeed we were behind that,&#8221; said Mwenifumbo.</p>
  106. <p>On allegations that his party is funded by MCP in order to kill AFORD, Mwenifumbo said NDP is not has never been in alliance with the ruling party and there is no any connection.</p>
  107. <p>He said if NDP has big sponsors like the ruling party, it would have been able to hold number of political rallies as well as buying party materials.</p>
  108. <p>&#8220;The party is struggling to complete some of its activities on the ground just because of financial problems. If we had enough cash or big sponsors the party status would not have been the way it is. And I wonder how a sane sponsor can invest cash in such organization especially if it, he or she want to achieve its agenda,&#8221; said Mwenifumbo.</p>
  109. <p>He also said that the NDP would not have joined the Karonga by-elections race or it would have endorsed MCP&#8217;s candidates.</p>
  110. <p>The interim President, Mwenifumbo told this reporter that those behind this &#8220;baby&#8221; are afraid of NDP especially because of its attractive political ideologies and the way it grows in the country particularly the north.</p>
  111. <p>&#8220;We know how NDP has been welcomed in the north where some parties regarded as their political bedroom. But they need to know the truth that it&#8217;s not because of financial support but ideologies. Voters are tired of political party families,&#8221; he added.</p>
  112. <p>He then urged journalists to desist from being political partisan especially when writing their stories saying &#8220;some stories tell us thag pens are politically compromised.&#8221;</p>
  113. <p>&#8220;Such stories are aimed at bringing disagreement between NDP and AFORD. Journalists must not be on forefront doing that,&#8221; he condemned.</p>
  114. <p>Mwenifumbo started his political career with AFORD in 1999 when the party was led by its founder, Thom Chakufwaw Chihana.</p>

  187. <p>Despite her efforts, bank employees were suspicious and alerted the authorities.</p>
  188. <p>The victim, identified as Paulo Roberto Braga, had been dead for hours before the incident.</p>
  189. <p>Erika faces potential charges including theft through fraud, embezzlement, and abuse of a corpse, while police investigate the circumstances surrounding his death and potential involvement of other family members.</p>

  219. <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Consumers Association of Malawi has raised a concern to the Ministry of Water and Sanitation on claims that the Blantyre Water Board (BWB) has raised unannounced water tariffs.</p>
  220. <p>Chief Executive Director for CAMA said he is seeking the Ministry’s intervention for the matter because water is a commodity that must not to be used to discriminate against people especially the poor.</p>
  221. <p>Meanwhile, he said the unorganized water tariffs mainly affects poor people who are already facing economic challenges and that careless increase of tariffs have a trigger negative effect on prices of many goods and services on the Market.</p>
  222. <p>“They need to balance the process to avoid hurting people who already have financial problems and above all, people are experiencing various health pandemics such as cholera and others” reads kapito’s letter.</p>

  249. <p>According to the funeral program, the body of Dossi is scheduled to be collected this afternoon at Mthunzi Funeral Services and it will be taken to Manja at Mr. Moses Dossi Jnr Residence where Vigil is taking place.</p>
  250. <p>&#8220;Tomorrow, the 19th April 2024, around 9am, Body will be taken for Church service at St Pius, thereafter, will proceed to Chapananga, Chikwawa.</p>

  276. <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Consumers in Malawi are still struggling to purchase one packet of sugar which has become so rarely to have like gold dust.</p>
  277. <p>Today on Thursday 18 April 2024, large number of consumers in Lilongwe were queuing to buy sugar at Lilongwe Shoprite.</p>
  278. <p>As it has become the norm these days, each person was only allowed to buy one packet at k1,999.</p>
  279. <p>To beat the system, some customers, after buying their 1Kg, had to engage others to enable them to buy more than two packets.</p>
  280. <p>Currently, vendors are selling one packet of sugar at k,3000</p>

  338. <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Silver Strikers football club has been fined with k3.5 Million after the misconduct acts that happened at end of the Castel Challenge cup between FCB Nyasa Bullets and Silver Strikers at Bingu National Stadium on 30 December last year.</p>
  339. <p>According to the statement released by Football Association of Malawi competitions and Marketing committee indicated that, out of k 3.5 Million, k1.5 million is a suspended sentence for 12 months and the Bankers will replace 40 damaged plastic chairs at the facility.</p>
  340. <p>“Silver have been fined k500,000 for failing to take necessary precautions to prevent supporters from displaying unsporting behavior by inciting violence and damaging stadium property contrary to articles 24.1 and 24.18 of the Castel cup Rules and Regulations and article 67.2 and 67.3 of the FAM Disciplinary code and article 17.2 of the FIFA Disciplinary code.” Reads part of the statement.</p>
  341. <p>Silver strikers have been ordered to pay k 500, 000 for failure to control their supporters from doing the misconduct and for showing unsporting behavior by beating fans around stadium. On top of that they have been charged to pay k 500,000 to Mike Tembo and Davis Ziyaya who were injured during the fracas.</p>
  342. <p>However, the committee said will engage silver strikers on finding a permanent solution to enforce Mulo Makin Sanctions.</p>
  343. <p>The chief executive officer for silver strikers said, he was consulting important authorities for that matter.</p>
  344. <p>“We will see what we can do in the next 48 hours.” Chimimba said</p>
  345. <p>Silver lost 4-2 to FCB Nyasa Bullets in penalties.</p>

  371. <p>According to him, he once had a girlfriend who was at university, and he was helping her with everything, from tuition fees to accommodation, with the hope that one day, after she finished her studies, they would be back together and get married.</p>
  372. <p>In his explanation, he seems to have had a big plan with her, but it all ended in tears. The man spent over 1.9 million on the woman, but this yielded nothing.</p>
  373. <p>One day, he received a call from her girlfriend to visit her home just for a talk.</p>
  374. <p>To his surprise, he found another man in the house whom she introduced as her boyfriend, effectively dumping the man who had been supporting her.</p>

  529. <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A sleepover has turned tragic for a 26-year-old woman of Lusaka, who lost her life after allegedly being electrocuted</p>
  530. <p>The victim who has only identfied as Catherine, is believed to have gone to stay over at her boyfriend John Banda&#8217;s house in Mazabuka.</p>
  531. <p>While there, she allegedly touched an extended cable and was electrocuted.</p>
  532. <p>The victim was discovered by the boyfriend&#8217;s friend, who owns the house, and the matter was reported to the police.</p>
  533. <p>Police have launched investigations into the incident and are searching for the victim&#8217;s boyfriend, whom they need to question.</p>
  534. <p>Southern Province Commanding Officer Auxensio Daka, who confirmed the incident, said it occurred on Wednesday, April 17th, around 22:10 hours.</p>
  535. <p>He said the incident was reported by Christopher Lubasi, a housemate of the victim&#8217;s boyfriend.</p>
  536. <p>&#8220;The reporter reported that Catherine, aged 26, of Kaleya Station, believed to be from Lusaka, was electrocuted by electricity.</p>
  537. <p>This was after the deceased touched an extended cable, which was connected from the one-way socket to the adapter, using her left hand.</p>
  538. <p>Physical injuries were seen on the left hand fingers, with some skin coming out due to burns, and no other physical injuries were seen on the body,&#8221; he said.</p>
  539. <p>Mr Daka said the deceased is believed to have been staying at her boyfriend&#8217;s house, John Banda, believed to be around 20 years old and a herbalist who is currently at large.</p>
  540. <p>He said the reporter had left home around 10:00 hours for his personal business and returned around 21:00 hours to discover the deceased in his house.</p>
