  41. <p>It looks like the Blair Witch is about to awaken once more as Blumhouse has promised to plunder the mythology of the 25-year-old franchise.</p>
  42. <p>The fourth movie in the series will be produced once again by Roy Lee who produced 2016&#8217;s Blair Witch and will kick off Blumhouse&#8217;s reimagining of Lionsgate classic horrors.</p>

  48. <p>Blum said of the project: <em>&#8220;I’m a huge admirer of The Blair Witch Project, which brought the idea of found footage horror to mainstream audiences and became a true cultural phenomenon. I don’t think there would have been a Paranormal Activity had there not first been a Blair Witch, so this feels like a truly special opportunity and I’m excited to see where it leads.&#8221;</em></p>
  49. <p>Look, they can make as many of these movies as they want but, three movies in so far and as someone who was there in 1999 when the original movie came out and took the world by story with it&#8217;s is it/isn&#8217;t it real marketing, I can promise you that nothing will ever come close to that again.</p>
  50. <p>That said, the mythology behind the Blair Witch is a rich one with a lot of great opportunities to be explored and, as long as it&#8217;s done well, I&#8217;ll be happy to return to the woods in Burkittsville to see what evil lies waiting.</p>

  85. <p>It seems that the Avengers will be fighting cinema&#8217;s greatest Xenomorph in a new limited series this July as Marvel have announced Aliens Vs Avengers.</p>
  86. <p>Following on from Wolverine fighting Predator &#8211; wait, how did that turn out? I completely forgot to get it! &#8211; back in 2023, it appears that FOX&#8217;s other terrifying alien is set to make its way to the Marvel universe&#8230; why not? In the 90s and 2000s they fought Batman, Judge Dredd, Archie and many others, so it was always going to happen, right?</p>

  90. <p><em>&#8220;I&#8217;ve never worked on a licensed or &#8216;non-superhero&#8217; property the entire time I&#8217;ve been at Marvel, so when all of this came together almost two years ago, I kind of jumped at the opportunity,&#8221;</em> says Hickman.</p>
  91. <p><em>&#8220;I love the Aliens universe and the mythology, and obviously just how atmospherically and well-designed everything is has always gotten my creative juices flowing. It was tricky finding a way to make these two things work together, but I think Esad and I landed on something that works for fans of both franchises.&#8221;</em></p>

  128. <p>If you&#8217;ve been keeping up with my articles over the last few weeks, you&#8217;ll know that I was sure that the awesome vampire ballerina movie Abigail, playing in cinemas right now, is connected to the amazing 2019 horror/comedy/thriller Ready Or Not.</p>
  129. <p>Both movies come from Radio Silence, better known as Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and are written by Guy Busick and R Christopher Murphy both are seemingly set in a real-world before everything literally goes to hell and both have the same clever, witty and fun tone that makes them feel like that are part of the same world&#8230; I was sure that, with Ready or Not 2 just confirmed, there would be a connection in Abigail that would prove both movies co-exist.</p>

  133. <p>In a new interview with film critic Perri Nemiroff, below, Gillet and Bettinelli-Olpin confirm that there is indeed a link in the movie, although it&#8217;s a deep-cut.</p>
  134. <p>The duo say that in the mansion in Abigail, there&#8217;s a portrait of Henry Czerny&#8217;s great, great, great grandfather and as fans will know Czerny plays the matriarch Tony in Ready of Not and it&#8217;s his distant grandfather who made a deal with the devil &#8211; here called Mr Le Bail &#8211; that sets in motion the insane events of that movie.</p>

  136. <p>This is an awesome bit of news and a wonderful confirmation that Radio Silence may just be building their own shared monster universe and I&#8217;m really hoping we&#8217;ll see more of that world in the Ready or Not sequel.</p>

  215. <p><em>Fifteen years after Smallville wrapped up, one of its stars is once again talking about how the story may yet continue.</em></p>
  216. <p>Lex Luthor star Michael Rosenbaum has been discussing &#8211; not for the first time &#8211; bringing the world of Superman back to the fans only this time, it will continue in animated form.</p>
  217. <p>We first reported on this back in 2021 when Rosenbaum revealed he and Superman/Clark Kent star Tom Welling were developing the show (<a href="http://www.followingthenerd.com/tv/watch-michael-rosenbaum-and-tom-welling-working-on-bringing-us-a-smallville-animated-show/">here</a>) and then in 2022 Welling <a href="http://www.followingthenerd.com/tv/tom-welling-says-everyone-is-on-board-and-hopeful-about-smallville-animated-sequel-series/">updated the news</a>, saying the plan was looking good and they were hopeful to get the original all the cast back (probably not ALL the cast at this stage, let&#8217;s be honest) and now Rosenbaum has revealed that he&#8217;s still hopeful but we might have to wait a while longer for it.</p>

  223. <p>There&#8217;s no denying that Smallville still has a big following and when Welling appeared in the Arrowverse&#8217;s Crisis on Infinite Earths as Clark Kent a few years back, it was massive news for fans and, let&#8217;s be honest, had it not been for Smallville, there would never have been an Arrowverse, so it&#8217;s hard to argue with Rosenbaum&#8217;s &#8216;no-brainer&#8217; argument.</p>

  261. <p>While I was excited to hear about the sequel, I was worried when Escape Room director Adam Robitel was attached &#8211; not because he&#8217;s a bad choice but just because Radio Silence themselves weren&#8217;t attached to direct but now that I know the sequel is being fully developed by them, I&#8217;m officially very excited again (yeah, like I never was!).</p>

  300. <p><em>It looks like the future of the Monsterverse is looking pretty bright as Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire continues to fill seats on the big screen while the fans also loved the Monarch series on the small screen.</em></p>
  301. <p>The Monsterverse kicked off with Garth Edwards&#8217; Godzilla a decade ago and the series has become crazier and bigger ever since over the course of five movies, a TV series and an animated show (plus comics, novels etc) but after the massive $80 million in North America opening of the new movie, Legendary and Warner Bros are feeling confident that there&#8217;s more monster mayhem coming to the big screen..</p>
  302. <p><em>&#8220;This is certainly an exciting result,&#8221;</em> says Mary Parent, chairman of worldwide production for Josh Grode’s Legendary, adding: <em>&#8220;We are in a good position to continue the journey.&#8221;</em></p>

  306. <p>Taking to social media, Apple TV+ revealed that a second season of Monarch was coming as well as spinoffs!</p>
  307. <p>This is great news as the first season was a lit of fun and dug into the workings of the mysterious Monarch from the Monstervese universe &#8211; having Kurt Russell in it was an added bonus.</p>

  309. <p>As for the spinoffs, we can only speculate at this stage but given that it&#8217;s a story spanning the entire history of mankind and beyond, there are a million places they could go and characters &#8211; and monsters! &#8211; they could explore.</p>
  310. <p>Wherever it goes, I&#8217;ll be waiting like the fanboy I am.</p>
  311. <p>But, I hear you all ask! What about Skull Island, the fun animated series that aired on Netflix last year, is a second season coming? After all, it had an intriguing story and ended on a cliffhanger that I and many other fans want to see resolved.</p>

  314. <p>&#8220;Scripts are all done and I hope it sees the light at some point – I think we got unlucky with timing and story changes in the bigger &#8216;Verse. But I had a great time, which is all that matters,&#8221; says writer Brian Duffield, implying that the newly confirmed expansion of the Monsterverse in film and on Apple TV+ may have unraveled plans for the second season.</p>
  315. <p>This reminds me a little of the animated series TRON: Uprising series which was brilliant but had its second season cancelled when it covered similar ground as the then-planned third movie which never came to light.</p>
  316. <p>Skull Island aside &#8211; though I am still fully batting for it &#8211; it looks like Monarch and its adventures with the Titans will continue for a long time to come and that&#8217;s great news as far as I&#8217;m concerned.</p>

  390. <p><em>Given how well it was received by newbies and fans alike and how watched it&#8217;s been, it shouldn&#8217;t come as that big of a surprise that we&#8217;re getting more post-apocalyptic action on Amazon.</em></p>
  391. <p>Yes, Fallout has been greenlit for a second season on Amazon Prime!</p>
  392. <p>We <a href="http://www.followingthenerd.com/tv/fallout-tv-series-producers-explain-where-it-takes-place-in-relation-to-the-games-lore/">reported</a> on the State of California awarding a second season (should it happen) a $25m tax credit, which made the renewal very likely and here we are.</p>
  393. <p>Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon MGM Studios, said of the renewal: <em>&#8220;The bar was high for lovers of this iconic video game and so far we seem to have exceeded their expectations, while bringing in millions of new fans to the franchise. The cast led by Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Walton Goggins, and Kyle MacLachlan have knocked it out of the park! </em></p>
  394. <p><em>&#8220;We are thrilled to announce season two after only one week out and take viewers even farther into the surreal world of Fallout.&#8221;</em></p>
  395. <p>I&#8217;ve not gotten to it yet but I&#8217;ve heard nothing but great things, so there&#8217;s a binge in my near future, I&#8217;d say.</p>

  423. <p><em>Rounding off tonight&#8217;s trilogy of Zack Snyder news, it seems the director, not unknown to love a director&#8217;s cut, is trying to get another director&#8217;s cut released. Sort of.</em></p>
  424. <p>Between Watchmen, Batman V Superman, Justice League and the currently on Netflix Rebel Moon movies, Snyder has an impressive list of extended movies and it looks like his very underappreciated and misunderstood 2011 movie Sucker Punch is in his sights now too.</p>
  425. <p>In a new interview, Snyder was asked if there was anything in his movies that he&#8217;d like to change or fix and his replay was pretty concise: &#8220;<em>The only movie I would change is Sucker Punch, because it never really got finished correctly.</em></p>
  426. <p><em>&#8220;Even the director’s cut is not really the correct cut. It’s really just an extended version. If I had the chance, I would fix that movie.&#8221;</em></p>

  432. <p>I really like Sucker Punch, although I didn&#8217;t initially, and I&#8217;d certainly like to see what Snyder has still to tell in that story but honestly, without another fan movement, I&#8217;m not sure this will ever happen.</p>
