18.

While Bajirao Mastani's collections registered a jump on weekdays, Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol's Dilwale had an upper hand on weekend. While Shah Rukh Khan's Dilwale earned Rs. 102.65 crore in its first week, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh's Bajirao Mastani earned Rs. 86.15 crore. 'Bajirao Mastnai' earned Rs. 10.25 cr on Monday and Rs. 9.40 cr on Tuesday, whereas 'Dilwale' made Rs 10.09 cr on Monday and Tuesday collections were Rs. 9.42cr. Read: Dilwale box office collections: SRK, Kajol film crosses Rs 100 cr worldwide Read: ‘Bajirao Mastani’ starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh collects Rs. 12.80 cr on opening day Both films has a good run in the international markets as well, but ‘Bajirao Mastani’ may have slightly suffered due to ‘Dilwale’ overseas. Expectations were sky high from both of big releases – Rohit Shetty’s ‘Dilwale’ starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Bajirao Mastani’ with Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra. Read: Dilwale review Read: Bajirao Mastani review Bajirao Mastani narrates the love story of the Maratha warrior Peshwa Bajirao I and his second wife Mastani. While Ranveer and Deepika play the eponymous roles, Priyanka is seen playing Bajirao’s first wife Kashibai. Directed by Rohit Shetty, “Dilwale” reunites the iconic pair of Shah Rukh-Kajol after five years and is a commercial potboiler with a dose of romance, comedy and action. The word of mouth for ‘Bajirao Mastani’ is very strong, and it might gain momentum during the weekend, but the masses are loving ‘Dilwale’. It is an open ground for both the films as we have Christmas weekend followed by New Year. Both movies have the advantage to score more but it will be interesting to see which movie will take the royal seat at the box office.

 36.

PK review: Aamir Khan plays PK not only to his strengths, but adds something new: we’ve seen his earnestness several times before, but not artlessness. PK movie review Star Cast: Aamir Khan, Anushka Sharma, Saurabh Shukla, Boman Irani, Sanjay Dutt, Sushant Singh Rajput Director : Rajkumar Hirani Is that a bird or a plane? Old question, new answer. No, it is ‘PK‘. And who is PK? A guy in madly printed shirts, buttoned tight around the neck, eyes glinting green, mouth ringed paan-red. And what is PK? A voice of wisdom and reason, in a Bhojpuri accent. (Read: Aamir Khan – The versatile, Dhoom-ster and PK) Laden with so many distinctive tics, the lead character in Rajkumar Hirani’s latest could have been a mess. But Aamir Khan plays PK not only to his strengths, but adds something new: we’ve seen his earnestness several times before, but not artlessness. That lack of guile leads us to believe in PK, and makes the film, up till the seamless first half, a terrific watch. (Read: Five reasons you must watch PK) Till then, we get freshness and fun. PK’s journey from a distant Rajasthan village– where he meets colourful characters (Sanjay Dutt, in a ‘lahariya safa’), and a lady of ill-repute from whom he picks up a couple of crucial learnings– to Rajdhani Delhi, is gone through smoothly. His bumping into TV reporter Jaggu aka Jagat Janani (Anushka Sharma, trying for elfin charm) leads him to unburden his soul. And his problem: something that belongs to him is lost, and until that is found, he cannot go home. Post interval, it slumps. The focus, which till then is on a character who intrigues us while interesting things are happening to him, gets diluted by a wholly superfluous romance (and songs, tuneful as a couple are), and a face-off between the guy awash in goodness who asks all the right questions and the bad godman who has all the wrong answers. The robustness of the dialogue (it has a word which made me gasp and laugh out loud, but I’m not telling which) and the sting in the situations way to exposition. From this point on, ‘PK‘ becomes a message-y let-us-expose-those-who-give-religion-a-bad-name, just like the magnificent ‘Munnabhai’ took the pants off bad medical practice, its sequel docked legal sharks, and ‘3 Idiots’ taught a lesson to misguided educators. The portly Saurabh Shukla, playing a white-robed crafty godman, is made up of all the ‘dhongi babas’ we’ve seen in the movies, and this movie’s taking the confrontation to the media (as a TV debate, because all media boils down to television, right?) makes it something we see all the time. On our TVs, right there in our drawing rooms. Rajkumar Hirani’s gift of telling the stories which are disappearing from mainstream cinema makes him the last man standing in Bollywood. ‘PK’ goes after religious fraudsters that divide and rule, with lines that speak of old-fashioned but crucial connections between ‘dharm’, ‘imaan’ and ‘mazhab’. What you need to re-purpose these themes is nuance, which, after a point, goes missing. This is where the Hirani magic recedes, and the film becomes commonplace. What keeps `PK’ afloat is Aamir. He holds on to the uniqueness of the lead character and helps us ignore the contrivances, right from when he appears with a tatty tape recorder as sole raiment, ears sticking out, and an expression which requires him to widen his eyes, and keep them wide open. Take a peek. (You can reach Shubhra Gupta on Twitter @shubhragupta

 54.

Gangster (Hindi: गैंग्स्टर) is a 2006 Indian romantic crime drama film that premiered on 28 April. It stars Shiney Ahuja, Emraan Hashmi and Kangana Ranaut. The plot is that of a bar girl who falls in love with two people, one a layman and the other a gangster. The music is composed by Pritam. The film was rumoured to be based on the life of mobster Abu Salem and former actress Monica Bedi, but the director Anurag Basu said that it is not based upon any real characters or incidents. Gangster was a hit at the box office. Simran (Kangana Ranaut) drowns her misery in booze. Her one friend in Seoul is Aakash (Emraan Hashmi), a singer in an Indian restaurant. Originally a bar dancer in Mumbai, India, Simran is the girlfriend of a notorious gangster, Daya (Shiney Ahuja). Five years ago, Daya's boss Khan (Gulshan Grover) ordered him to give Simran up. When Khan threatened Simran, Daya turned on him and Khan cut Daya loose from his gang. She and Daya were forced to flee to Seoul. They took a small boy named Bittu with them. After an encounter with the Mumbai police, Bittu was killed, causing a strain in the couple's relationship and pushing Simran toward alcoholism. Leaving Simran alone in Seoul, Daya went to work in Mauritius and then Dubai. Aakash tells Simran that he cares for her despite her past, and their relationship gradually develops from friendship to love. Daya, who is still in Dubai, suddenly comes to Seoul. When he learns of Simran's affair with Aakash, he attacks and severely beats him in a fit of rage and jealousy. Daya then professes his love for her and promises to reform and fulfill her dreams of a normal life; he also tells her that if she truly loves Aakash he will not hold her back. Before Simran can respond, the police arrive in pursuit of Daya and Simran. The two flee. Daya gives up murdering innocents and begins working odd jobs, admitting to Simran that he has found peace in doing honest work. He says that he would like to return to his village in India with her, so that they might live there peacefully. To do so he would have to perform one last crime: fake passports for him and Simran.

Salman Khan’s films have been witnessing great response at the Box office, and the Dabangg Khan acknowledges the festival of Eid for making his movies a big hit every year. Ever since ‘Wanted’ released on Eid in 2009, Salman Khan has been consistent in delivering Rs 100 crore films on Eid every year. Here is a list of Salman Khan’s movies that have released on Eid in the past: Salman Khan in ‘Kick’. ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ director Kabir Khan, who worked with Salman for ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ as well, said: “Three years ago I witnessed from close quarters the hysteria that surrounds a Salman release on Eid. The “Ek Tha Tiger” release hysteria was a phenomenon that had to be seen to be believed. Over the past decade watching a Salman film has almost become an integral part of Eid celebrations. And this year as we are approaching Eid… I can already feel that now familiar sense of public euphoria building up. Can’t wait for EID to bring on Bajrangi Bhaijaan.” “With every passing year EID has become synonymous with Salman Khan. Traditionally in Bollywood-Diwali, 15th Aug, 26th Jan and Christmas have been considered big release windows but it was Salman with ‘Wanted’ who created Eid as a lucrative window. Every year since 2009 he’s set new box office records. This year as well with Bajrangi Bhaijaan, where Salman is also a producer we hope to go past previous records” shares Amar Butala, co-produced and COO of Salman Khan Films. Share This Article Trade analyst Taran Adarsh said, “Salman Khan and Eid are synonymous. People await a Salman Khan film during Eid and this year is no exception. Bajrangi Bhaijaan caught the attention of the viewers from the first promo itself and you could make out that there was a strong story and an undercurrent of emotions. Also, with Kabir Khan on the director’s chair and the duo (Kabir Khan and Salman Khan) having offered a thorough entertainer – Ek Tha Tiger, the last time, definitely raises the bar and expectations this time.” He further adds, “What also works in favour of Salman Khan is that he has got a soft face and tough physique which can suit any role offered to him. ” Salman Khan’s next film titled ‘Sultan’ has already acquired the Eid 2016 slot and reports also suggest that he will be releasing Dabangg 3 on Eid 2017.

 72.

Here’s a situation where privacy matters: watching movies with your parents. A scene that might not make you think twice when you’re in the privacy of your own room or hanging out with your friends could be the most awkward experience ever when you add mom or dad to the equation. Even if you’re one of those people who says, “I don’t care about privacy; I have nothing to hide” (which isn’t a valid argument, by the way), there are still certain films or scenes that you just don’t want to watch with your parents (unless you’re a fan of extreme social discomfort). To spare you the pain, here’s a list of the top ten movies to avoid watching with your parents. Of course, we can’t help you if they happen to walk in during a bad moment (and doesn’t it seem like they always do?), so watch those doors. Some guidelines: We’re only including mainstream, wide-release movies on our list, and we’re excluding indies, horror, gore, exploitation, porn, and other genres that go for shock or titillation by definition. We’re also avoiding movies that are known almost exclusively for being erotic, like “Unfaithful.” We’re focusing instead on movies with scenes that can sneak up on you; scenes that you wouldn’t necessarily expect to pop up when you’re sitting down with mom and dad. We’re sticking to US releases in English (just because these are what we know). If we didn’t have these guidelines, something like “Irreversible” or “A Serbian Film” would probably be at number 1. *Cringe.* Without further ado, here are… (WARNING: SPOILER ALERT) It’s a great movie, but it’s got uncomfortable scenes involving prostitutes and Christian Bale flexing and pointing at himself in the mirror while he’s, uh, on the job. And we don’t mean the investment banking one. Now if you’ll excuse us, we have to return some videotapes. It’s bizarre and complex in typical David Lynch fashion, and it has some pretty graphic lesbian sex scenes between Naomi Watts and Laura Harring. You might find yourself watching it with the ‘rents because it’s a well-known “see if you can figure out what on earth is going on” film. It’s film school complicated with surprise sex on top. Trey Parker and Matt Stone aren’t exactly known for censored, family-friendly stuff, but they make even South Park look tame with an absurd puppet sex scene that spans several minutes and increasingly ridiculous positions. And whatever you do, don’t watch the unrated version around the parents. Trust us.

 81.

I used to think hindi movies were bad, but the dubbed versions of South Indian movies made me realize they weren't so bad after all. The hindi titles given to these dubbed versions are nothing but a ridiculous joke. For example 1) The movie Wanted (2009) starring Salman was actually inspired from the Telugu film Pokiri (2006) starring Mahesh Babu. This movie was remade in Tamil and kannada as well. The hindi movie channels have dubbed all of them into hindi and have created their titles by somehow making minute adjustments to the title of the original hindi remake Wanted. As the dubbed versions changed their host channels, so did their titles but the Editors found it difficult to come up with new names because of their reluctance to somehow make sure that the titles contain the word 'wanted'. This resulted in creating a whole new movie franchise with the following titles Tapori Wanted Wanted Baghi Main Hoon Wanted Ek aur Wanted Aaj ka wanted 2) The similar case happened with the dubbed counterparts of Rowdy Rathore(2012) and Ready(2011), giving rise to an array of similar looking titles . But the biggest array was created by the Chandramukhi series . God knows how many remakes, sequels and reboots (and their own sequels) were made, that happened in all the Dravidian languages. All the movies were dubbed in hindi and given titles. Chandramukhi Chandramukhi 2 Chandramukhi 3 Chandramukhi returns Return of Chandramukhi Chandramukhi ki Hunkar Chandramukhi ki Pratigya Return Of Chandramukhi 2 Return Of Chandramukhi 3 (drona) 3) The funniest has to be ' Mumbai ki Kiran bedi '. Apart from the title, the movie itself is pretty hilarious. You start watching this movie thinking this is some serious stuff but then it becomes frustrating after 10 odd minutes into the movie, but if you show the patience to tolerate this for a few more minutes, then the rest of the movie becomes a laugh riot. First of all, the city shown ain't Mumbai. The woman looks nothing like Kiran Bedi. She looks like a mob dealer herself, wearing a halloween police dress with black shades on her eyes that never come out, not even when it gets dark. But the most absurd thing is that I never heard of Kiran Bedi ji taking the police jeep out on Delhi streets and directly confronting the law breakers. And moreover, she never even bothers to take one or two constables with her while heading for armed conflicts, only to find herself outnumbered but somehow she manages to survive . This doesn't happen once or twice in the movie, but actually it's the entire plot of the movie, the same exact thing happening again and again.
