RFMA is looking for sessions that cover a variety of restaurant facilities topics and most importantly provide educational value to our attendees. Joining a RFMA Committee or Task Force is a great way to get involved and engaged in RFMA.  At RFMA, we value the input of our diverse membership and our committees, groups and task forces exist to leverage our member's talents and experience to advance RFMA's mission. Committee Applications are open January 9 – January 27, 2023 Serving on a RFMA Committee:<ul style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; font-size: 14px; background-color: #ffffff;"><li style="box-sizing: border-box;">Must be a current RFMA member in good standing</li><li style="box-sizing: border-box;">One-year commitment (can serve up to two years on the same committee)</li><li style="box-sizing: border-box;">Work throughout the year on projects that align with RFMA’s mission and strategic plan set by the RFMA Board of Directors.</li><li style="box-sizing: border-box;">Participate in monthly conference calls (up to an hour) and a required in-person meeting at RFMA’s Annual Conference</li><li style="box-sizing: border-box;">Report to RFMA Board of Directors</li><li style="box-sizing: border-box;">RFMA members can only serve on one RFMA committee</li><li style="box-sizing: border-box;">Attendance on a RFMA committee is crucial to the productivity of the committee, each committee member is allotted two excused absences</li></ul>Serving on a Task Force:<ul style="box-sizing: border-box; Congratulations to our winners below who were recognized during our RFMy Awards luncheon on Tuesday, March 15th in Nashville, TN. <img alt="" src="https://www.rfmaonline.com/resource/resmgr/rfma_2022/terry_richardson_w_chalkboar.jpg" style="float: left; margin-right: 10px; width: 200px; height: 267px;" />CALM AFTER THE STORM AWARD The Calm After the Storm award goes to a RFMA restaurant member who demonstrated skill, experience and leadership preparing for or following a disaster-related situation in a restaurant. Terry Richardson, Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Terry showed exceptional skill, patience and goodwill during and after Hurricane Ida. The conditions were dangerous, with nowhere to sleep or eat for the majority of the impacted week. Company losses were nominal because of Terry's decision to immediately respond as the storm was approaching. Store management and employees were provided a safe shelter at Cracker Barrel when no other places had food and electricity. First responders, community members and the Red Cross benefited as well because of the speed at which store operations were restored in five locations. <img alt="" src="https://www.rfmaonline.com/resource/resmgr/rfma_2022/bob_blum_w_chalkboard_commun.jpg" style="width: 200px; height: 267px; float: left; margin-right: 10px;" />COMMUNITY CHAMPION AWARD The Community Champion Award goes to a RFMA member who has made an outstanding contribution to their community through volunteer efforts. Bob Blum, Hinckley Management Group Bob is very active within his organization and in his region for Dunkin's Joy in Childhood Foundation, where Bob serves as a board member. Hinkley Management was recognized as the top fundraising group in the most recent campaign for the Midwest region and second highest overall. Under Bob’s leadership, their group also helped raise more than $100,000 for local food banks last spring.   <img alt="" src="https://www.rfmaonline.com/resource/resmgr/rfma_2022/darrell_hooks_team_player_aw.jpg" style="float: left; margin-right: 10px; width: 200px; height: 267px;" />THE TEAM PLAYER AWARD The Team Player Award goes to a restaurant facilities professional who went above and beyond the call of duty to support their team members. Darrell Hooks, ZAX LLC dba Zaxby’s Darrell went above and beyond when his teammate, Tony Elrod, had open-heart surgery, doing both of their jobs for more than three months. That means handling more than 125 additional emails a day and single-handedly taking care of all of their 146 stores. Tony said Darrell happily took this on and is the hardest working person he knows.    <img alt="" src="https://www.rfmaonline.com/resource/resmgr/rfma_2022/mike_morman_w_chalkboard_the.jpg" style="float: left; margin-right: 10px; width: 200px; height: 267px;" />THE INNOVATOR AWARD The Innovator Award goes to a RFMA member who “thought outside the box” and created an innovative new initiative at their company. Mike Morman, Five Guys Burgers and Fries Mike is consistently reviewing his business to evaluate how to create more efficient processes. He is incredibly relationship-oriented, ensuring that his vendors’ needs are a priority. Mike is a class act in the restaurant industry. MARVELOUS MENTOR RESTAURANT AWARD The Marvelous Mentor Award goes to a RFMA restaurant member who has acted as a mentor to help develop a new young facility professional. Robert Cannalte, Caribou Coffee Company Rob takes time with his team. Real, focused time. He's not only trained new facility managers, but he continually, day after day, trains a plethora of other folks. From store managers to district managers, director of operations, construction, marketing—anywhere Rob goes, he shares his knowledge. He takes time. He listens. He learns. And then he helps the team get better. Rob’s team says working with him is a gift. <img alt="" src="https://www.rfmaonline.com/resource/resmgr/rfma_2022/rhiannon_huff_w_chalkboard_m.jpg" style="float: left; margin-right: 10px; width: 200px; height: 267px;" />MARVELOUS MENTOR VENDOR AWARD The Marvelous Mentor Award goes to a RFMA vendor member who has acted as a mentor to help develop a new young facility professional. Rhiannon Huff, North American Signs Rhiannon is part of the North American Signs leadership team, taking on the task of heading up a department once only considered a cost center and turning it into a multi-million-dollar revenue generator in two to three years’ time. Her team would do anything for her because they know she would do the same. She pushes them to be the best version of themselves professionally, and at the same time she can speak about them on a personal level as if they grew up on the same street. She's also quite humble, often attributing her success to her team. <img alt="" src="https://www.rfmaonline.com/resource/resmgr/rfma_2022/faith_trainor_w_chalkboard_r.jpg" style="width: 200px; height: 267px; float: left; margin-right: 10px;" />ROOKIE OF THE YEAR AWARD The Rookie of the Year goes to a RFMA restaurant member who has had outstanding achievement while being new to their position or field of facility management. Faith Trainor, Inspire Brands Faith is new to the facilities world, coming to Inspire Brands when they acquired Jimmy John's. They knew right away that she had what it takes to be an effective facilities manager. Since coming on board, she has made a huge impact in both the Jimmy John's and Sonic brands. She developed an online training seminar for Sonic, onboarded Jimmy John's into Ecotrak, established PM programs for Sonic, and passed the exam to earn her CRFP. It has been a big year for Faith, and she continues to grow and challenge her team every day. Jeannie Malone, Ecotrak Facility Management Software THE T.E.A.M. AWARD The T.E.A.M (Together. Everyone. Achieves. More.) Award recognizes a team for working together and going above and beyond this past year. Red Lobster Facilities Team Like so many other brands in the casual dining sector, Red Lobster saw a reduction in facilities managers when COVID-19 hit. This reduction increased the number of restaurants each FM supported from 70 to an average of 160. The FM team worked extremely hard to continue to deliver a high level of support to the Red Lobster operators. This included developing scopes and executing more than 2,000 projects while working remotely, conducting audits for the upcoming fiscal year for more than 700 locations, and closing and re-opening restaurants as required. <img alt="" src="https://www.rfmaonline.com/resource/resmgr/rfma_2022/nic_stoyer,_crfp_w_chalkboar.jpg" style="width: 200px; height: 267px; float: left; margin-right: 10px;" />RESTAURATEUR OF THE YEAR Nic Stoyer, CRFP, Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant Nic joined RFMA in 2015 and has been a highly engaged member ever since. He served as co-chair on the Resources Committee this past year as well as being a participant in the 2021 Leadership RFMA Class. He participates on nearly every Peer to Peer and Peer to Partner Call as well as serving as a moderator, was a panelist on the Supply Chain panel discussion, has been a RFMA Gives volunteer and is a newly-elected member of the RFMA Board of Directors    <img alt="" src="https://www.rfmaonline.com/resource/resmgr/rfma_2022/stacy_williams_w_chalkboard_.jpg" style="float: left; margin-right: 10px; width: 200px; height: 267px;" />VENDOR OF THE YEAR  Stacy Williams, CarePro National Painting Stacy has been a RFMA member since 2013. His RFMA involvement has included the RFMA Mentorship Program, being a RFMA Gives Volunteer, and serving on the Vendor Voice Committee, for which he received and RFMy last year as outstanding volunteer. This award is named after Jack McNertney, who retired in 2018 and set the bar for what it meant to be a volunteer leader in RFMA. Rob Wach, CRFP, The Habit Burger Grill Rob became a RFMA member in 2011. He is the vice president of facilities for The Habit Burger Grill recently purchased by YUM Brands, where he has worked for the past 8 years. In 1986 his career started the same as many RFMA restaurateurs - as a technician. And when he made the change to facilities, that knowledge has served him well throughout his career. He has also been very busy volunteering his time with RFMA, spending 2 years co-chairing the task force that developed the benchmarking study, servings as the first vice-chair in 2019, chair in 2020 and immediate past chair in 2021. And most recently, serving on the Advisory Council. Bottom line, Rob just keeps raising his hand!  ]]></description>

Our 2021 RFMy Awards were presented at the Tuesday General Session luncheon at RFMA 2021.

Nikki has been a RFMA member since its inception. She has been a Board Member (2018-2021), served as Treasurer (2020-2021) and been involved in various committees over the years. She is active in RFMA's Females in Facilities Group and consistently attends peer to peer calls and member events. Nikki is actively engaged in all aspects of RFMA including providing valuable restaurant facilities resources for our website and participating  in several RFMA Gives Volunteer Days. She is always willing to assist with any item within RFMA and very deserving
of this award.

Tarell is responsible for 40 Shake Shack facilities in five states. Throughout the pandemic, he continued to have a sense of humility, empathy and respect for coworkers, customers, vendors and his community. Tarell is proactive in every area, putting
plans in place so his colleagues can deliver a consistent Shake Shack experience. He is currently implementing a variety of creative programs that are essentially transforming the restaurants. This includes streamlining the curbside pickup process
and arranging for pleasing and safe indoor seating, as well as increasing outdoor seating to accommodate the growing customer base.

In May 2020, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Citrus County, Fla., began renovations of its Robert Halleen Club in Homosassa. This project began just as the COVID-19 outbreak halted programs all over the world. But Bell and the team at RFS stepped in to help
complete this project, which was a vision for organization leaders for many years. According to representatives at the Boys & Girls Club, working with Bell was easy and, through collaboration, they created a dream club for children to enjoy for many
years. The RFS team was excellent in taking construction ideas and turning them into a reality and exceeded the expectations of the organization’s leadership.

Over the past year, Small’s workload unexpectedly increased significantly. However, he still excelled in supporting others during a difficult time. Small has received many high regards from his operations team for this work, and he continues to go above
and beyond, including co-leading a very informative peer call forum and participating in a support development session for the southeast region’s black partner network, which is available for all positions across the region.

Torres was hired at Starbucks at the beginning of January 2020, and he completed his onboarding mid-March, right as the COVID outbreak occurred. Throughout the last year, he not only navigated the challenges caused by the pandemic but also took the time
to form relationships with his operators, vendors and peers. The use of technology has been tremendous at Starbucks, but even today there are many people in Torres’ close network who he has never officially meet in person. Even so, his operators rave
about his dedication to supporting the stores and his ability to invest in the stores that make significant impacts to the customer experience. He has even been able to share this successful work with his well-tenured peers and help them reimagine
what is possible in Starbucks stores to support them in new ways.

Last year Chung spearheaded a project to create a facility handbook for Panda Restaurant Group. This tool is instrumental for operations and facility managers and is used on a daily basis. Taking on a project like this is no easy feat, because it encompasses
service channel directions, parts ordering with all Panda vendors and some disaster preparedness. The handbook started out with more than 50 pages. Through a collaboration with some other great facility managers, it has grown to 70 pages and includes
hyperlinks to other active documents. Chung’s team is grateful for his support and for the advancement of the department.

Wilhite was one of RFMA’s original members, dating back to 2006 before RFMA hosted its first stand- alone conference. He has been an active member, serving on the Membership Development Committee and RFMA Gives Steering Committee as project co-chair and
volunteer. He served on the Facilitator editorial board and was a CRFP item writer for the prep course. And he was previously recognized for his contributions with the Certification Rockstar, RFMA Gives Go-Getter Award and the coveted Vendor of the
Year Award in 2015. After many years of service in the facilities management industry, Wilhite retired earlier this year.

<title>RFMA Announces Expanded Partnership with MultiView</title>

Over the past two years, many of our RFMA vendor members have utilized MultiView’s digital retargeting opportunities within their marketing strategy. RFMA will now be collaborating with Multiview again on our redesigned weekly Dish newsletter, debuting on November 6th, and our RFMA online vendor marketplace located on the RFMA website. </div>

We are so excited that the RFMA office will be moving this week to our new location. We want to make our members aware that there may be a delay in staff emails and overall communications while we are transitioning. <title> RFMA Gives 2020 Project Wish List Announced</title>

RFMA Gives 2020 Project Wish List Announced 
 
 
 
Consider donating your time, talents or resources to our 2020 project in Denver! 
 
RFMA is humbled and pleased to be partnering with the <a href="https://www.stoutstreet.org/">Stout Street Foundation</a> located in Commerce City, CO for our RFMA Gives 2020 project! Below are some of our potential RFMA Gives 2020 projects and needs.  
 
Please review the list to see if there is a product or service that your organization  
would be able to donate to RFMA Gives!  
 
Residents Building 
• Grease Services: Provide pumping/maintenance for in-ground grease trap for one (1) year 
• Kitchen Equipment Repair: Service providers willing to provide repair service to hot and cold side equipment at no charge to the facility as needed with their current equipment 
• Hood Cleaning: Routine Hood Cleaning Program for one (1) year 
• Waste Services: Provide roll-off container(s) for some projects 
• Shelving for storage rooms on the 4th floor- Metro Style 
• Painting: Paint entire exterior of building (6 stories) 
• Paint Sundries Supplier: Provide paint and sundries for building exterior and interior work for Volunteer Day  
• Landscaping: Provide materials for minor landscaping needs for Volunteer Day  
• Ceiling Tiles: Provide new ceiling tiles for 1st floor of building, mainly the hallways 
• Cabinetry: Supply & install new counter-tops for reception desk 
• Lighting: Supply 20-30 can light fixtures (LED) for existing dropped ceiling 
• Lighting: Supply 20-30, 2'x 4' LED fixtures to replace existing fluorescents 
• Flooring: Supply and install new vinyl flooring in laundry room on 1st floor (~300 sq. ft.) 
• Kitchen Equipment: New 4-6 ft. S/S tables  
• General Contractor: Remodel exiting restrooms (10) to include new walls, flooring, vanities, plumbing, lighting. Most are individual bathrooms. 
• Window Covering/Shades: Provide and install window shades for the residents rooms (70-75 required) 
• Bedding: New mattresses for residents 
• Lighting: Replace wall lights in residence rooms (70-75) 
• General Contractor, Electrician, Flooring: Remodel existing two (2) elevator interiors to include upgraded lighting, flooring, and wall coverings 
 
Residents Building - Women's Rec Room 
• General Contractor: General remodel to include: new lighting, flooring, window coverings, lights & fixtures, remove ceiling slats, existing bar cabinetry, and floor riser to make all one level. 
• Window Supplier/Installer: Replace broken windows in solarium room 
 
Residents Building - Men's Rec Room 
• Paint & Sundries: Supply paint & sundries for walls 
• Ceiling Supplier: Repair/replace exiting ceiling 
• Lighting: Replace exiting 2'x 4' ceiling light fixtures with LED 
 
Residents Building - OT Cove 
• Flooring: Replace exiting carpeting 
• Ceiling Supplier: Replace ceiling 
• Lighting: Replace exiting 2'x 4' ceiling light fixtures with LED 
 
Kitchen Equipment 
• Air curtain for back door 
• Counter top mixer 
• Counter top electric steamer 
• Landscaping: Planter for exterior windows 
• Demo Crew/Awning Vendor: Either remove canopy framing over back door or add awning on existing frame 
 
Administration Building 
• Painting: Paint entire exterior of building, 4 stories 
• Paint Sundries Supplier: Provide paint and sundries for building exterior and interior work for Volunteer Day 
• Lighting: Supply/install replacement lights over the vanities in the restrooms (6 total) 
• Exterior Building Materials: Replace the exterior insulated panels where birds are nesting 
• Plumbing: Remodel small mop sinks to include sinks, walls (FRP), flooring, and plumbing fixtures for three (3) mop sinks 
• General Contractor, Electrician, Flooring: Remodel one (1) elevator interior to include upgraded lighting, flooring, and wall coverings 
 
3rd Floor Admin/Gathering Room 
• Flooring: Replace carpet and replace with new flooring 
• Furniture: Need 20 new round and 15, 8 ft. rectangle tables 
• Equipment: New refrigerated salad and buffet style hot bars 
• Lighting: Upgrade existing 2'x 4' fluorescent fixtures to LED (approx. 100) 
• New ice machine & bin (smaller capacity) 
• HVAC Contractor: Replace one (1) Carrier Heat Pump system 
 
Exterior Patio Area/Garden 
• Awning: Supply & install sail type awning system over 1/3 of patio 
• General Contractor: Install concrete bollards for sail type awning system 
• New exterior picnic tables 
• Landscape: Prep/landscape back lot garden area 
 
Parking Lot 
• Concrete/Asphalt: Repair approximately 100 linear feet of pavement from drainage damage 
 
Volunteer Day 
• Volunteer Day shirts, gloves, medical supplies, safety googles 
• Water: Supply water for approx. 150 volunteers
