25.
Goalkeeper is one of the heroes of the 1994 Tetracampeonato conquest and immortalized one of Galvão Bueno's most famous shouts: "Get out, it's yours, Taffarel!"

26.
This Wednesday (8th), Taffarel celebrates his 58th birthday, with a beautiful career that is still ongoing with the Brazilian National Team. The goalkeeper of the 1994 Tetracampeonato continues to be active in football as the goalkeeper coach for the Seleção and Liverpool (ENG). Born in Santa Rosa (RS), in 1966, he was revealed by Internacional and joined the club in 1985.
27. At Colorado, he remained until 1990, a period in which he consolidated himself as one of the great goalkeepers in the country. With the prominence at the Gaucho club, he earned his first chances with the Seleção in 1988, a jersey he wore for 108 games until 1998, with 64 wins, 31 draws and only 13 losses. Throughout his career, he won the Copa América (1989 and 1997), Pan-American Games (1987) and was a silver medalist at the Seoul Olympics (1988), in addition to being called up for the 1990 and 1998 World Cups.

32. In his last World Cup with Brazil, his performance in the penalty shootout against the Netherlands, in the semi-finals, immortalized one of the most memorable narrations in the history of the Brazilian National Team. When he prevented a shot, Galvão Bueno narrated Taffarel’s save as follows: “Get out, get out, get out, it’s yours, Taffarel!”
33. After his stint at Internacional, the goalkeeper moved to Parma (ITA), where he was a two-time Italian Cup champion (1991/92 and 2001/02) and a European Cup Winners’ Cup champion (1992/93). In his last season, he was loaned to Reggiana (ITA), the club for which he was called up for the 1994 World Cup.
34. In 1995, Taffarel returned to Brazil to play for Atlético-MG. With the Galo, he lifted the Campeonato Mineiro (1995) and the Copa Conmebol (1997) trophies. He then moved to Galatasaray (TUR), where he built a beautiful history until 2001, winning the Turkish League (1998/99 and 1999/00), the Turkish Cup (1998/99 and 1999/00), the UEFA Cup (1999/00) and the UEFA Super Cup (2000). After leaving the big clubs, he returned to the Turkish team to work as a goalkeeper coach for seven seasons.
35. Before retiring, Taffarel played for Parma until 2003.

51.
Tite's team lost 1-0 on their visit to Chile and complicated their qualification to the round of 16

52.
Flamengo lost 1-0 away to Palestino (Chile) in the Copa Libertadores and complicated their qualification to the round of 16. With two rounds to go, the Carioca team is third in Group E after one win, one draw and two losses, so they no longer have any margin for error.
53. The only goal of the match played at the Francisco Sánchez Rumoroso stadium in Coquimbo was scored by Fernando Cornejo in the 63rd minute. The midfielder, who had come on five minutes earlier, connected a beautiful volley that found the back of the net after a corner kick clearance.

58. The victory left Palestino in second place with four points. The surprise leader is Bolívar (Bolivia) with a perfect score and one match less to play tomorrow against Millionarios (Colombia), who are at the bottom of the table with just one point.
59. The top two teams qualify for the round of 16, so Tite’s team has to start earning three points to turn the situation around. The positive note is that the two remaining matches are at the Maracanã: on May 15 against Bolívar and on May 28 against Millionarios.
60. On the other hand, Palestino, Flamengo’s main rival in the battle for qualification, will have to play their two remaining group stage matches away: on May 14 in Bogotá and on May 28 in the always difficult La Paz altitude.
61. A concerning factor for the Carioca club is that if Bolívar win their match against Millionarios tomorrow, they will become unreachable at the top. Flamengo’s only chance of qualifying would be as the second-placed team, meaning they would face one of the group leaders in the round of 16. If they finish third, the 2022 Libertadores champion will drop down to the Copa Sudamericana.

77.
With the defender's return to Fluminense, the Brazilian league will have another player with World Cup experience

78.
Brasileirão usually lands world-renowned players every year, and 2024 hasn’t been the exception. Even though the transfer window is closed, Brazilian football already anticipates the arrival of a national hero in the winter market: Thiago Silva, who runs out of contract with Chelsea, will return to Fluminense as a free agent.
79. The defender’s arrival not only means a huge signing for the defending Libertadores champions but also strengthens the presence of stars in the Brazilian Serie A. In addition to his past in Europe, which includes a UEFA Champions League title, Silva represents a local legend with World Cup experience.

114.
With the defender's return to Fluminense, the list of Brazilian Serie A footballers who have played in the English top-flight increases

115.
Thiago Silva has finally made it official: in July, he will return to Fluminense as a free agent. The Brazilian’s contract with Chelsea expires at the end of the season, and after pondering it for some time, he decided to pack the bags and go back to his boyhood club.
116. Therefore, the center-back will join the list of Brasileirão footballers who played in the Premier League. While some of them, like his future teammate Marquinhos (on loan at Flu from Arsenal), spent a short time in England, others (like Silva himself) left a mark on English football.

205.
Casemiro has been dribbled past 52 times, but he's not the most beaten defender in the Premier League.

206.
Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has been criticized for his performance this season, but Opta’s data offers a broader perspective.
207. Despite being dribbled past 52 times, Casemiro is not the most bypassed player in the Premier League; that dubious honor goes to Brentford’s Mathias Jensen, with 69 instances.

212. Top players like Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister and Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes have also been outmaneuvered more frequently, with 62 and 57 times, respectively. Comparatively, Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold and Tottenham’s Pedro Porro each have been dribbled past 53 times.
213. Here’s a breakdown of the top ten:
214.
215. Mathias Jensen (Brentford): 69 times in 30 starts
216. Alexis Mac Allister (Liverpool): 62 times in 31 starts
217. Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United): 57 times in 33 starts
218. Antonee Robinson (Fulham): 56 times in 35 starts
219. Pedro Porro (Tottenham): 54 times in 32 starts
220. Christian Norgaard (Brentford): 53 times in 29 starts
221. Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool): 53 times in 26 starts
222. Joao Gomes (Wolves): 53 times in 32 starts
223. Casemiro (Manchester United): 52 times in 22 starts
224. Joao Palhinha (Fulham): 47 times in 31 starts
225.
226. Casemiro’s fewer starts — 22 compared to others — highlight his limited opportunities to defend these statistics. Despite this season’s struggles, the data shows his challenges may stem more from adapting to manager Erik ten Hag’s tactics rather than a decline in his abilities.

368. Players report a war scenario
369. Defensive midfielder Lucas Oliveira
370. “Whenever it rains a lot, the field gets completely flooded and it starts coming out through the streets. On Thursday, May 2nd, the water started rising and didn’t stop. That’s when it started to come into the house and flooded the entire neighborhood, something that had never happened before.”
371. Right-back Itaqui
372. “There was an evacuation request from the city hall in the early evening, I took my wife and son away. I stayed at the house and around 4am, the water hadn’t reached yet and even so, I moved the car to a higher place. Around 6am, our house started to have a little water and by 7am we were already out with water practically up to our waists. Later, the images we receive are of water hitting the ceiling in a matter of hours.”
373. “The speed of the water was very, very fast. The scenario there is of war, it’s desolating.” I went back to the house to lift the furniture, in a preventive thought because it’s an area that has never been hit. I thought that in the worst case, water would enter the yard or even a little in the house. But I never imagined it would reach the ceiling.”
374. Patrick, who had a stint in the youth categories of Internacional in 2019 and Novo Hamburgo
375. “People notified us at 5 o’clock in the morning on Friday that there was a prediction of flooding, but I left home, looked around and everything was fine. At 8 o’clock, my brother-in-law came to pick us up. My daughter’s delivery was supposed to be on Saturday, not Sunday as it ended up being.”
376. “We had no idea how high the water would rise. So we arranged the essentials and left. My wife went to his house and I went out to the street to help the people who had been affected. When I went to see, my brother-in-law was calling me, asking me to come back because it was already flooded. When I arrived, everything was flooded. It was time to lift a few things, throw some clothes for my little girl and leave.”
