43.
Do you watch long YouTube videos? Do you listen to podcast episodes over 30 or even 60 minutes?

 44.
People question whether anyone reads my articles because they are so long or wasting a lot of time working with them.

 45.
Replace the word “long” with comprehensive, profound, or relevant. Not because these are synonyms, but because we’re talking about quality instead of just quantity. And then the question sounds completely different, doesn’t it? I also like to differentiate between having read and understood. The latter is even more difficult to achieve.

 46.
How long a blog article or text should be or how short a video has to be so that people consume this content is not the decisive question, in my opinion. Much more important is how much “scope” is necessary to achieve the goal – please think of your “business goal” and that of your target group – and how you manage to design your content in such a way that people want to have to consume it.

 47.
How much “scope”?

 48.
The answer to this is so individual that it cannot give across the board. Even if many supposed experts like to do that, it’s not working. Of course, there are recommendations from platforms and best practice experiences from competitors, but these are anything but general. It is better to find out what works and what doesn’t: through systematic testing based on specific hypotheses.

 49.
And not just with a view to the scope, but also the effectiveness of your content in every respect.

 50.
I am writing this article about “Content Testing” because I am convinced that many questions in content marketing can be answered much better through targeted experiments – because they are more individual and data-based. We just have to get into the habit of actively asking these questions and always questioning the answers.

 51.
In this article, you will find a total of 11 examples, including the following questions:

 52.

 53.
Does the visual design of texts impact the achievement of goals, for example, the newsletter subscription rate? ( for example )

 54.
Is the length of a text decisive? ( for example )

 55.
How can I design long texts to motivate users to read them in full? ( for example )

 56.
Which headline is the best? ( for example )

 57.
Which cover picture works better? ( for example )

 58.

 59.
Experiments in content marketing, why not?

 60.
Experimentation is a great way to measure the effectiveness of your content. The findings will help you with the production, distribution, and, above all, the continuous optimization of your content portfolio. A / B tests, in particular, are important to find out which content works, which doesn’t, and, above all, why. So how (so) different elements such as headings, formatting, visual design, or other types of content affect traffic, customer behavior, and the conversion rate.

 61.
Testing is almost common in e-commerce, especially in usability and other user experience (UX) tests. Amazon, Shopify, Booking, Netflix – they all benefit from testing. But the content (in marketing) can also be tested excellently, for example, to validate assumptions about your target group, to formulate positively resonating texts (brand promises, unique selling points, purchase arguments, etc.),

 62.
or to determine the headlines with the highest clicks for blog articles and advertising texts.

 63.
“When it comes to testing, people love concentrating on UX, design, layout, and call-to-actions, yet they often ignore copy. In my opinion, you should concentrate on nailing your value proposition; everything else is just window dressing.”

 64.
Sandra Wu, Director of Growth, Himalaya

 65.
The strengths of content testing

 66.
In two cases, in particular, we can develop effective solutions through experiments: on the one hand, when we do not know what to do, for example, because we lack information, and on the other hand when we do not know or can not estimate what effect an intended change will have on a goal will. Or, to put it briefly: through testing, we can do the what, how? and above all, the why? Respond.

 67.
Whether blog articles, email marketing, social media, copywriting, visual design, landing pages, or search engine optimization – quantitative and/or qualitative tests can integrate practically anywhere.

 68.
We can test many variables:

 69.

 70.
Title and meta title

 71.
The description of structured data

 72.
The article length

 73.
The introductory paragraph

 74.
The integration of image and video content

 75.

 76.
The primary distribution channel

 77.
According to Edward Wood, Chief Marketing Officer at CareerFoundry and previously Head of Content Marketing at Babbel, the key factor is the primary distribution channel. For example, if that’s an organic search, we should probably test the meta title, the inclusion of rich media, and the addition to the FAQ schema. On the other hand, if it is a paid distribution via content discovery networks like Outbrain and Taboola, we focus better on the iteration of titles/headings and the article length and template.

 78.
Content testing is particularly exciting on “Value Pages,” i.e., on those websites through which you boost your business – be it through traffic generation via blog articles, product communication via product pages, or acquisition via contact pages. Just take a look in your web analytics tool to see which pages are accessed particularly often or have a particularly high conversion rate.

 79.
At Babbel, we divided blogs into three broad categories; Performance, Organic, and Social. While many companies and agencies will probably concentrate on the latter two, the Performance blogs brought in the leads, the traffic, and the sales. They were the concentrate of our optimization efforts. At CareerFoundry, organic – and particularly organic search – content is internal to the company’s achievement. Therefore, we spend more time testing there than in content discovery.

 80.
Edward Wood, Chief Marketing Officer, Career Foundry

 81.
The different types of testing

 82.
Many of the following examples are based on A / B / n tests in which different variants are compared in randomized segmented target groups. It happens dynamically on the same page with the help of appropriate testing tools. In this case, we speak of split testing through the targeted distribution of traffic to different pages.

 83.
But there are also other types of testing. For this article, for example, I did what is known as “preliminary testing.” This form of testing is typical for TV advertising, which is shown to a small audience before it, broadcast to avoid blunders and ensure that the advertising message gets across.

 84.
What exactly did I do?

 85.
I sent this article to a few volunteer “beta readers” in advance (which is not ideal for sample selection but completely sufficient in my case) and asked them for feedback. It was particularly interesting for me to know.

 86.

 87.
What terms appear that are unclear; I then explained that.

 88.
Which statements/passages/images caused AHA moments; I highlighted these visually and used them as a teaser for the promotion.

 89.
Whether there are still questions on the topic open at the end; (Which resulted in the fact that I will write a second article about content testing.)

 90.
How motivating the article is, on the one hand, to read it in its entirety and on the other hand to start testing yourself; so that I have adjusted the structure of the article slightly.

 91.

 92.
More about the different types of (content) testing follows in another article.

 93.
Before we look at specific examples, I would like to outline the proven process for content testing briefly.

 94.
Content testing: step by step to the first experiment

 95.
Once you have identified promising pages or perhaps entire page types (for example, “blog articles,” “pillar pages,” or “service pages”), you can start.

 96.

 97.
Specify your problem: Based on which observable, thus measurable symptoms do you suspect potential through optimization? It could be, for example, an increasing bounce rate as in the screenshot below or a low or falling newsletter subscription rate.

 98.

 99.
We should take a closer look at above-average and above all increasing bounce rates (screenshot: Google Analytics)

 100.

 101.
Identify test fields through user research, such as jobs-to-be-done interviews, copy testing or usability tests. Such qualitative research methods are important because only they provide information about why, for example, the bounce rate is increasing.

 102.

 103.
While analytics provide metrics on how a site or its elements are performing, it doesn’t give you any input on what resonates with your readers and creates friction. Based on this open-ended feedback, we can work out a hypothesis for A / B testing. You can’t customize copy without qualitative user research.

 104.
Viljo Vabrit , Founder & Partner at Speero

 105.

 106.
Formulate a hypothesis based on your findings: Which changes in your content (textual/linguistic, visual, structural, etc.) will positively influence the target metrics? What leads to this change in your users’ behavior: inside; which cognitive distortion or which psychological behavior pattern (we speak of “behavior pattern“) is this underlying?

 107.

 108.
The assumption was that the length of the content might even have triggered fears and uncertainty, which is why users jump off. The hypothesis was then:

 109.

 110.
If we shorten the article without changing the story, we can increase the likelihood that users will read to the end and convert.

 111.
Since that guess didn’t come true, they turned the experiment 180 degrees, so to speak, and doubled the content and page length to increase engagement. So it was obvious to test images, quotes, headlines, etc. Adding more images to make the page longer and more engaging will help increase engagement and drive more conversions.

 112.
A simple scheme for good hypotheses is “If …, then …, because …” – the last part, in particular, is important to generate insights and thus impulses for further tests from each test, regardless of the result.

 113.

 114.
A good hypothesis also describes the reason for the expected result.

 115.

 116.
Create the concept for your variant (s), carry out the test, and evaluate it. I simply summarize these three steps here because a detailed explanation would go beyond the scope. What we need is a high-contrast variant, in which we ideally only test a specific change to be able to prove not just a correlation but, at best, a causality. It refers primarily to “principles” (behavior pattern) and not individual text or visual elements. When testing The Motley Fool, it was less about the length itself than about the emotions it generated.

 117.
I also recommend these basics about A / B testing statistics and these tips by Dr. Julia Engelmann, Head of Data Analytics at konversionsKRAFT.

 118.

 119.
An often neglected step

 120.
Undo the changes (optional). If you want to know exactly, you should validate by restoring the control variant after testing whether the change in the target metric, caused by the changes to the content/design. If so, the numbers should go back to what they were before the test. It would validate the hypothesis, and you can roll out the new variant again without hesitation.

 121.
When experimenting, always be open to unexpected results; often, the reasons for a change are not what you anticipated!

 122.
We can solve an issue in different ways. It is therefore important that you test individual solutions one after the other. And it is best to prioritize your hypotheses in advance based on the expected business impact (e.g., the percentage increase in the conversion rate) and the associated effort for implementation.

 123.
It ensures that you optimize the most important aspects and benefit from content testing right from the start.

 124.
Important: prioritize your ideas!

 125.
I don’t want to open a barrel because this task is not as trivial as it sounds, and I prefer to dedicate a separate article to the topic in the future. But at least I will create awareness that the potential of individual ideas varies and that we should invest our resources very specifically in selected optimization projects. You may be familiar with frameworks such as ICE, PIE, or the Moscow method, but I also find the “PXL Framework” from Speero exciting. Viljo Vabri explains it this way:

 126.
This structure helps us measure signal strength based on how many data points we have to help a hypothesis, combined with an “ease of implementation” metric. With objective at its core, this model requires data to impact the scoring. It breaks down what it wants to be ‘easily implemented.’

 127.
I find it exciting because it can, adapted for different content use cases, such as SEO or lead generation. You can find details and a template here on the Speero blog.

 128.
Now let’s look at a few examples and empirical values. It will surely also inspire your experiments.

 129.
Examples and inspiration for goal-oriented and data-driven content strategy

 130.
In our book Content Design, Ben Harmanus and I describe many ways to visually design texts through headings, paragraphs, lists, line spacing, etc. These tested design elements make a text appear more harmonious, but please never do that more effectively. You will only be able to answer this statement objectively through appropriate tests!

 134.
With this book, you will learn to consider the conception and audiovisual design of content holistically and implement it in a targeted manner.

 135.

 136.
Some of my favorite examples of content testing come from Blinkist. The company tests an incredible amount, mainly generating leads through their magazine, thus forming the foundation for user acquisition. Every percentage point more concerning the conversion rate means real money. The same applies to The Motley Fool, which markets subscription products and premium reports through their magazine.

 137.
You can find a summary of the most important learnings at the end of this article; Feel free to jump right there if that’s what you’re looking for.

 138.
Does the visual design of texts impact the achievement of goals, for example, the newsletter subscription rate?

 139.
Yes, the look can have a positive as well as a negative influence on the conversion rate. With an increase – we call this uplift – of 16.5%, the test at Blinkst, in which they primarily experimented with subheadings, was extremely positive (see screenshot below). The Motley Fool was also able to measure a significant uplift in experiments (see point 4).

 141.
Is it worth revising texts for the sake of good language?

 142.
Not in 75% of the cases tested (!) By Blinkist. As long as the quality of the writing is acceptable, there is often no reason to embellish the language because it does not create any additional value for the user.

 143.
Say what you have to speak in a way that everyone will understand. A good text doesn’t necessarily need more (Screenshot: Sandra Wu, Blinkist)

 144.
Is the length of a text decisive?

 145.
So there is the question every content marketer asks himself sooner or later; Blinkist and The Motley Fool are no exception. We argued for short texts in the previous example: Hardly anyone reads everything but scans extensive texts searching for relevant key terms. But the counter-argument is simple: What if users want more information or simply need more information to explain a product?

 146.
The answer is just as simple in a certain way, and it can even objectify through appropriate tests:

 147.
As long as more text means more value for the user: inside (ergo relevant), the length does not matter.

 148.
In over two dozen experiments, Blinkist has expanded the scope of texts with mostly positive effects on the conversion rate (screenshot: Sandra Wu, Blinkist)

 149.
In the test at The Motley Fool, long-form content won over the short version (screenshot: WiderFunnel)

 150.
How can I design long texts to motivate users to read them completely?

 151.
As the tests from the previous example show, relevance is crucial for a basic interest of the user: inside. For James Flory, Director Experimentation Strategy, and his colleagues at WiderFunnel, this first test was the starting point for further experiments. With graphics within the articles, visually high-contrast quotes, infoboxes, and other content elements that, on the one hand, add value for users: present inside, but simultaneously loosen up the text and make the “content experience” more varied. In total, they have generated a sales uplift of 26% to date. Long-form content can become more and more effective iteratively – and with the help of targeted experiments, we also learn why.

 152.
Iteratively, long-form content can become more and more effective – and with the help of targeted experiments, we also learn why (screenshot: WiderFunnel)

 153.
Which headline is the best?

 154.
The question is legitimate, but at the same time, we should also ask: When is the title the only thing that has to motivate a person to click, for example, in a search or on an overview page, and when can you provide more context with a supplementary article text?

 155.
It is not anymore a hidden truth that the New York Times, for example, tests the titles of its articles. However, it is exciting to see how many articles she tests, how many variants she tests, and how successful she is with them. Tom Cleveland, the software engineer at Stripe, analyzes exactly that with his NYT tracker. Unfortunately, this analysis can already recognize a pattern of headlines that become more and more dramatic over time.

 156.
Development of an NYT headline over time.

 157.
Overall, the data shows that tested items are 80% more likely to land on the most popular items list. In addition, the number of tests correlates with the engagement rate (e.g., reactions in the form of comments or social media shares). Nevertheless, the proportion of tested headlines is quite low at 29%, and most tests (79%) only include two alternatives. Cleveland suspects one reason for this rather rudimentary testing is that the NYT earns less than a third of its sales from advertising (and the trend is downward). A front page full of clickbait headlines are likely to be a deterrent to potential subscribers, with whom the company generates almost two-thirds of its sales.

 158.
Wait, do headline tests even work?

 159.
As Alex Birkett (former Growth Manager at HubSpot) rightly notes in his article on cxl.com, a headline usually only has a very limited lifespan – especially in media that publish with high frequency, such as the NYT. An A / B comparison that, for example, needs to run for four weeks to get a reasonable confidence level to achieve is not effective. So, strictly speaking, the NYT example is not an A / B test. Rather, it is about finding out as quickly as possible which title generates the strongest response. In doing so, we face the risk of succumbing to the so-called “confirmation bias” because, on the one hand, we cannot control external variables (especially segmented target groups) and, on the other hand, we consider more than one metric (clicks, shares, etc.).

 160.
Confirmation bias describes the tendency to select, determine and interpret information so that it confirms one’s expectations.

 161.
Testing headlines using advertisements is the better alternative, but it does involve additional costs and time.

 162.
The premier class is certainly so-called “multi-armed bandit tests,” but I refer to this article to not go beyond the scope here.

 163.
The bottom line is the following:

 164.
Headline tests are possible, but the time window is extremely small, and it requires an enormous amount of traffic to the individual (!) Articles/pages to achieve meaningful results.

 165.
How aggressively can I advertise products within my articles? Will advertising be tolerated at all?

 166.
Many companies want to boost their sales through content – in the long term and perhaps more indirectly, but often also directly and in the short term. Depending on what goal you are pursuing with a blog article, for example, your “advertising” looks different: If your primary aim is branding, then your focus is more on a sympathetic story. If, on the other hand, you will generate leads or convert visitors in another way, then you need effective calls-to-action.

 167.
Blinkist has also dealt with how aggressively – or let’s better call it self-confidently – they can advertise their product and when they first point it out within an article. Your conclusion:

 168.
Don’t be afraid to say about your product. Be proud of it!

 169.
Sandra Wu

 170.
CXL

 171.
Another example of this type of “copy testing” is CXL, which optimized the pitch on their homepage last year through qualitative user feedback. What previously came across as elitist and arrogant (on the left in the picture is then understood as helpful information on the necessary work effort (center). And a look at today’s variant (far right in the picture below) shows that it is now fully on social proof in the form of leave a testimonial.

 172.
Testing pitches, introductory texts, and offer descriptions can reveal valuable information. (Source: cxl.com)

 173.
How can I make my content more talking?

 174.
Is there anyone who doesn’t ask this question regularly? But how do we define “interaction”? For many, scrolling is an interaction, while others understand it to be commenting on a post or sharing on social media. It is also the case for a customer of WiderFunnel, who was able to achieve positive results in a test with a view to the offer

 175.
and the design (including positioning) of share buttons:

 176.
Preformulated tweets, sticky social sharing icons, and mouse-over effects – if you want to generate clicks, you should try out what triggers users the most (source: WiderFunnel)

 177.
What is the best email subject line?

 178.
Besides the short description, the subject line is the first and is often the only thing that users see from an email. It is, therefore, the most important decision-making basis for whether users open an email or not. Does a personal address via name tokens make sense? How do emojis work? Are Questions Effective? How long should / may a subject line be?

 179.
In his role as a content editor at Wishpond at the time, James Scherer asked himself exactly these questions with his team and prepared their experiences in an article: The Highest-Impact Email A / B Tests We’ve Ever Run. The results are sometimes surprising, and I find the following test on upper and lower case particularly exciting! The hypothesis: If we remove capital letters from the subject lines, the email will look more personal and make it look like a real person wrote it and clicked “send” too quickly.

 180.
A simple test showed but in the case of Wishpond with an extremely positive effect.Emails were originally very personal. What if we imitate that quality? (Source: Wishpond)

 181.
Newsletter tools have long offered such features. And I would always test the subject lines of newsletters. To understand what influences the opening rate in the long term.

 182.
Which cover picture works better?

 183.
Better in what way? Attract attention? Trigger emotions? Pictures, too, should always have a function, a specific goal.

 184.
As you may have seen, I no longer have any cover pictures in my articles. Images for link previews in social media posts. Yes, but no longer as the “standard” at the beginning of an article. How come? Because they simply didn’t add any concrete added value at that point and kept the users away from the actual content (I recall the long-form content tests from above).

 185.
In this case, no cover picture means that readers get to the content faster – or see more content at first glance. And can benefit from my articles more quickly.

 186.
One possible metric, in this case, would be “Time to Value.” I didn’t test it (unfortunately). But since I haven’t seen a downcast in the numbers since then. I rate this change as a success. * duck and away *

 187.
How quickly can users derive added value from our (text) content?

 188.
Read more: {Content marketing}

 189.
(When) do users need a summary, a table of contents, and/or jump labels?

 190.
The idea behind it is: Do such elements help users navigate the content, understand it more easily, and get to the information they are looking for more quickly? Such content elements can increase the usability of your articles. And ensure that users find the instruction they are looking for (easier / faster). WiderFunnel also went in a similar direction with their tests for The Motley Fool. And with the publication of this article, a corresponding test is also running here.

 191.
How can I improve the click rate on search results pages?

 192.
Crazy that we don’t just talk about rankings, right? Often the “snippet optimization” (keyword: title tag, meta description, and schema markup) is a real quick win to increase the value of existing rankings. Because what we ultimately want – besides pure visibility in search engines – are clicks.

 193.
The SearchPilot team (an “SEO A / B testing software”) experimented with this in a local context and integrated the name of a – admittedly very well-known, but anonymized in the example – brand into the page title – with a positive result on the click rate, more precisely 15% uplift.

 194.
If your brand strength is influential, putting it prior in the title tag for users to see could influence more of them to click through to the page. Just because your name has more views, we trust this content testing performed as well as it did. Because portraying a powerful brand in the search results guided make these pages more noticeable to the user. Resulting in developed click-through rates.

 195.
Rida Abidi, Web Analyst at SearchPilot

 196.
More on SearchPilot

 197.
Edward and his team also test the CTR in the search results with a view to the effect of emojis in meta titles, the FAQ dropdown scheme, the use of “power words,” the alignment of terms with the Insights from the Search Console and the Use of brackets – all aspects from a HubSpot study on data-driven headline writing.

 198.
The SearchPilot example also clarifies how important a good hypothesis is. And how tough it can be to show the results of a test without carrying out additional tests to validate these findings. If we want to be sure, we must never stop testing content.

 199.

 200.
You can already see that we can add countless questions to this list. That’s what I meant initially. As content marketers, we have so many questions, but we rarely bother to find real (objective) answers. The potential is enormous! Just imagine if you could cumulate the uplifts from all these examples.

 201.
Findings from content testing

 202.

 203.
Structure your texts so that users can scan them and make them easy to understand. As long as it represents added value, the scope of the content testing does not matter.

 204.
Don’t be afraid to promote your service. Especially in corporate blogs, every reader expects it. The decisive factor is how you pack your “pitch”: native, that is, “editorial-looking,” or visually contrasting “in your face” – it can do both.

 205.
Build new tests on the insights of previous tests. Regardless of the result of a “long-from vs. short-form content” test; This can be the starting point for further tests in the corresponding direction.

 206.
Use the findings from your tests to define quality criteria for future content. And your content design with a view to article templates, for example. It enables you to brief (external) creatives and authors better and achieve better results over time.

 207.

 208.
My thanks for the many examples and insights go in particular to James Flory, Director Experimentation Strategy at WiderFunnel, who shared his experience from a good five years of experimenting for The Motley Fool. Also to Sandra Wu, formerly Paid Content Marketing Lead at Blinkist and today Director Growth at Himalaya. She was responsible for many of the experiments described in Blinkist Magazine and presented them at CopyCon 2020.

 210.
An outlook: will we see even more content testing in the future?

 211.
I think the most necessary learning I’ve found in content testing is that UX / UI almost always comes second to content. Best practices, stylistic design, modern layouts won’t trump content testing. And in many cases, it can detract from the efficacy of good content.

 212.
James Flory, Director Experimentation Strategy, WiderFunnel

 213.
I agree with James Flory: design doesn’t work without content. But without design, content doesn’t work either. Unfortunately, there are no blueprints for this, and rather the design is an iterative, experimental process. There is nothing wrong with orienting oneself towards design standards. And following conventions, but, as the name suggests, the user experience, decided by the user. And they are different from case to case, so that effective content, designed individually.

 214.
So test your content and your design whenever you can.

 233.

While virtual reality (VR) aims to create an entirely immersive experience, augmented reality (AR) takes a slightly more modest approach by layering digitally created elements over the real world. This can be accomplished by using special wearable devices, like glasses or headsets, that project a digital image onto the lens or by inserting those same elements into a camera image, like a smartphone screen.

 234.
Unlike VR, which generates massive amounts of data and blocks out the real world, AR is more like a filter that alters how people perceive the world around them. This means that AR users are untethered from a purely digital environment; they can walk around and interact with the physical world while still viewing digital elements.

 235.
Who Uses Augmented Reality?

 236.
The most exciting aspect of AR technology is that millions of people are already using it in some capacity. Many industries have unveiled a new generation of AR applications as devices become more powerful, and networks continue to grow their capacity. Edge computing and 5G connectivity have made the technology much more viable, opening several new potential users.

 237.
From smartphone applications aimed at the individual consumer to more sophisticated data visualization tools used by enterprises to interpret big data analytics, AR technology will continue to reach more and more people in the coming years.

 238.
Augmented Reality Applications

 239.
In fact, there are already more than a handful of companies exploring ways to get more AR opportunities into the hands of consumers and businesses alike.

 240.
It’s worth checking out the way AR has already been used for movie promotions, by the USPS (in 2014!), by IKEA to imagine how furniture would look in your home, and much more. From marketing opportunities to sharing information, the potential for commercial and entertainment use is significant.

 241.

 242.
Social media applications use AR to create those fun filters we see on so many pictures.

 243.
Mobile game Pokémon GO revolutionized mobile gaming a few years back using AR to allow people to hunt Pokémon.

 244.
The WWF created an app allowing users to explore landscapes and see wildlife (thereby boosting interest in their organization and, hopefully, donations to save these areas).

 245.
Modiface has an app used by popular cosmetics brands to see how shades and makeup products will look.

 246.
And Manchester United Football club created an AR experience that enabled fans to sit with the coach.

 247.

 248.
Currently, there are plenty of companies beginning to explore the opportunities AR will provide for customer engagement and experience and marketing and sales. The only limit on what companies can and will create will be imagination, now that the technology is finally catching up.

 249.
Why is Augmented Reality Important?

 250.
There are a few key advantages to augmented reality, but one of the most important is usability. True AR interfaces provide an intuitive and elegant user experience for a variety of services and technologies. As touchless interfaces become more versatile, AR applications can be paired with them to create truly innovative interaction methods and make existing data and systems far more user friendly than they are today.

 251.
For decades, digital interfaces have been limited by the amount of data and interactive elements presented upon a single screen. With AR applications, however, those elements can be displayed in various innovative ways that make them much easier to manage and understand. Technology is already redefining how people interact with digital applications, and it will only become more intuitive and efficient in the future.

 252.
Top 7 Augmented Reality Trends for 2021

 253.
There are several significant use cases for this groundbreaking technology, but it’s also important to consider how it’s already impacting the world in terms of raw numbers. In fact, the augmented reality market is expected to hit $70-$75 billion in revenue by 2023. So, exactly where is AR headed in 2021, and what can we expect?

 254.
1. The Arrival of AR Glasses

 255.
Thanks to more robust cellular networks, most AR capabilities have been available primarily on smartphones. However, it’s looking like 2021 might finally be the year that Smartglasses technology hits the market with a release possible from Apple. The combined installed base of mobile AR devices and smart glasses could exceed two and a half billion units by 2023, creating huge opportunities for innovative AR applications. As these devices become more ubiquitous, AR will become less of a novelty technology and form a more integral part of consumers’ everyday technology experience.

 256.
2. AR Sports and Events

 257.
As noted above, Manchester United’s squad already found a way to utilize AR, and with event cancellations due to the Coronavirus, the entertainment sector is eager to find ways to supplement and drive income with both virtual and AR events and experiences. In the sports world, the uses range from broadcasting to in-stadium experiences, and it won’t be long before concert venues, theme parks, and other event venues pick up on the trend.

 258.
3. AR in the Classroom

 259.
One of the challenges facing schools today, in addition to remote learning due to the Coronavirus, is expenses. From budget cuts to infrastructure expenses, students are missing out on out-of-school learning experiences. Similarly, some districts can’t provide the learning opportunities that require expensive equipment or components. However, even in 2018, research suggested that 95% of students had smartphones. While typically disallowed in the classroom, 2021 might be the year they are recognized as a valuable tool for improving learning outcomes.

 260.
Not only can students use AR to explore science in their surroundings (growth cycles, species ID, geometry, and other coursework, but in many cases, it can also supplement field trips, historical or regional social studies learning. While the initial cost of equipment seems significant, the long term savings and opportunities are even more impressive.

 261.
4. AR in Medicine

 262.
Again, the need for social distancing in response to Covid-19 may be seen as one of the biggest drivers for new technology and advancements. Even in the medical field, in hospitals, med schools, and your doctor’s office, you’ll start to see the ways that AR can benefit patients and doctors alike. From assisting with blood draws (finding a vein) to improving diagnoses, the potential is massive. Not only might AR assist doctors, but it can also assist in the case of an emergency by providing information about life-saving measures.

 263.
5. AR in Your Car

 264.
From a safety perspective alone, AR in your car is something the big automakers hope to realize in the next year. Imagine driving and getting real-time data from your GPS or about road conditions and hazards, your speed, or any mechanical issues directly in your line of sight.

 265.
You’ve likely seen something similar with a heads-up display (HUD), but AR can bring so much more information in a way that lets drivers keep their eyes on the road. Further, it’s suggested that AR might even move to the rearview mirror with blind-spot vehicles projected there to prevent crashes.

 266.
While the safety features will put many drivers at ease, the opportunity also exists to send drivers data about the area they’re driving through, features, sites, and even your standard rest area information (gas, food, lodging). Imagine a road trip where you can get a lesson in geography, geology, or even history as you’re driving.

 267.
6. AR Your Workout

 268.
Any runner or cyclist can tell you that the indoor version of their workout, on a treadmill or stationary bike, is pretty brutal compared to being outside. While Strava and Peloton already offer AR experiences (via screens showing different terrains/locations/events), expect this to grow even more.

 269.
For runners, apps like Zombies, Run! already allow an AR experience (gamified) via audio while running outdoors. However, expect to see real-time data, like in your car, visible to runners and cyclists alike, including speed and distance, appear soon.

 270.
And it’s not just runners and cyclists who’ll get some great benefits; gyms may use it soon to assist members on equipment and provide AR training sessions.

 271.
7. Increase in Mobile AR and Accelerated Growth with 5G

 272.
What will make much of this possible is the increase in mobile technologies, like smartglasses and smartphones, which will put the power of AR in everyone’s hands. However, even with devices in consumers’ hands, the power of AR cannot be harnessed without networks that can handle the amount of data and speed with which it will need to be transferred.

 273.
Much AR relies on complex and responsive networks, and only 5G, paired with edge computing, can provide that kind of capability. The need for speed will drive faster 5G adoption in many areas. As we have seen with other technologies (like the growth of data centres), the availability of the technology will also drive the industry.

 274.
The Future of Augmented Reality

 275.
Augmented reality applications are already being put to use in several industries. Despite the relative youth of technology, the future is looking pretty bright across a variety of industries.

 276.
Augmented Healthcare

 277.
The healthcare industry will drive much future growth in the augmented reality market, largely because AR presents many unique opportunities for patients and health providers. Whether it’s medical students using training programs to practise surgical techniques or doctors being able to observe a patient’s vitals and refer to images from MRI or CT scans during treatment, AR technology will help bridge the gap between digital data and medical professionals who are medical professionals utilize it. Not only will improvements be seen in treatment in care, but it may have the potential to impact access to specialists and providers in regions that face scarcity issues.

 278.
Military AR Investments

 279.
Of course, government investment will always be a major factor in technology’s development and growth. The US military has been experimenting with different augmented reality trends for several years to deliver actionable data to personnel without overloading them with choices. By incorporating data drawn from multiple sources, augmented reality devices will allow soldiers to identify threats, access GPS data, and obtain remote battlefield views. Perhaps the most noteworthy (and expensive) success in this regard is the F-35 fighter jet’s $400,000 helmet, which not only allows the pilot to look through the plane itself but also identifies and provides information about any object in the pilot’s field of view.

 280.
The AR Shopping Experience

 281.
AR will become an even larger part of the retail market. Many retail chains have gone to great lengths to roll out augmented reality technology that allows shoppers to use their smartphones to learn more about products and make better choices that suit their needs. Wearable AR devices will allow retailers to send notifications and deliver a customized shopping experience based on consumer preferences.

 282.
AR in the Classroom

 283.
Augmented reality market size and awareness will continue to grow as it is adapted for educational uses. The interactive nature of the technology makes it an ideal fit for the classroom of the future. An augmented reality device or program can scan materials like books, worksheets, or flashcards and provide additional information and resources for students to engage with on their own terms. Interactive games and activities can also be designed to reinforce key concepts and help students learn more effectively. The technology can also help students with disabilities overcome challenges in the classroom, making education one of the best use cases for AR.

 284.
Auto Investments in AR Technology

 285.
Automotive companies will continue to be a major force in AR development. Many manufacturers are investing in far more ambitious projects. Paired with other smart city technologies, AR could help to improve safety and optimize traffic patterns to alleviate highway congestion.

 286.
The AR Factory

 287.
Judging from AR statistics, industrial and mixed manufacturing will also benefit immensely from augmented reality. The factory floor has always been a complex and potentially hazardous environment, but AR technology will provide a new level of visibility. Workers can now use augmented reality devices to have ready access to important technical information and identify what machinery is in use and where danger zones are located. Boeing, for instance, now utilizes AR glasses to assist technicians while wiring many of its planes, cutting production time by 25 per cent and greatly reducing errors. Expect this to become cross-industry, improving production speeds and product innovation.

 288.
AR in the Travel Industry

 289.
The extreme portability of AR applications already has an impact on the tourism industry. With AR technology, visiting popular tourist sites will become a dynamic and interactive experience. Smartphone apps and wearable augmented reality devices will allow visitors to museums and historical sites to learn everything they ever wanted to know about them with a quick scan of the area. Imagine visiting Rome’s Colosseum and seeing it as it might have looked in its heyday through an AR display or augmented reality games. As augmented reality trends and technology develop, the tourism industry will surely be one of the leading AR use cases.

 290.
AR Smart Glasses and Field Service

 291.
Smartglasses will fundamentally transform many field service roles. Field service technicians are faced with the difficult task of working on myriad equipment with varying technical specifications, often in confined or hard to reach spaces. With AR headsets, they will have all of the information they need to be displayed right before them while keeping their hands free to work. Sophisticated sensors will also deliver real-time data about equipment status, helping to identify parts that need to be replaced soon or highlighting potential dangers that might not be visible to the naked eye. Field service may not be one of the first areas that come to mind with this new technology, but it represents one of the best places for growth in the augmented reality market.

 292.
Wearable AR Devices

 293.
Combining AR and wearable devices that gather physiological data will continue to revolutionize the way people exercise and train, creating a range of opportunities for ambitious startups willing to think outside the box. Although various smartphone apps are already cleverly using augmented reality games to promote a more active lifestyle, wearable augmented reality devices will take these concepts to the next level while integrating health information to help people customize the ideal workout for their fitness needs.

 294.
Augmented Reality and the Data Center

 295.
As these augmented reality statistics and use cases demonstrate, the future of AR is already here. To deliver quality AR experiences, companies will need to invest heavily in edge computing frameworks that help them to deliver content to end-users with minimal latency. While 5G technology will certainly help enhance AR functionality, the interactive nature of augmented reality devices will force many companies to rethink their overly centralized cloud computing networks to deliver content faster and gather data more efficiently. Edge data centres will play a key role in these strategies as consumers become more aware of the augmented reality market and incorporate more AR devices into their everyday lives.

 296.
vXchnge data centres provide a combination of reliability and connectivity that can help organizations implement their AR services across various platforms. With data centre locations optimized for edge computing and direct cloud on-ramps capable of delivering scalable processing and storage quickly and easily, we provide a solid infrastructure foundation to build your next generation of digital services upon. 315.

New technologies and digital media that enable people to exchange ideas with one another, to network and generate media content individually or in a community are known as social media. They are characterized by relatively low barriers to entry and simplify the publication and distribution of the content of any kind considerably compared to traditional mass media. Experts differentiate between ten categories of social media.

 316.
In the meantime, doctors, nurses, and other providers are also increasingly using social media. Many clinics and medical practices use them, for example, to increase awareness, image building and patient loyalty. In addition to an official website, they also maintain a Facebook page or a Twitter account to address current topics and present themselves specifically. Used correctly, it can achieve a wide reach and target group-specific information, for example, to improve therapy adherence and prevention. Doctors in private practice can use these media to remind their patients, for example, about vaccinations, inform them about therapies and share news from their practice (such as the hiring of new employees).

 317.
Social media in their various forms should be understood as another channel that can be used for conveying information and for communication between providers and patients. The special thing about it is that the patients can also create content themselves. The idea of “empowerment of the patient” in increasing patient autonomy by transferring responsibility is only really put into practice through social media. Although there are also risks in this open communication and the associated handling of information responsibility – the quality and correctness of the health information are not guaranteed – but offers such as Wikipedia prove that the “wisdom of the masses” usually works.

 318.
In the area of rare diseases, the advantages of social networks are quickly apparent: those affected have the opportunity to find other sufferers and experts, to set up groups with them and to exchange ideas as if in a self-help group. These possibilities are already used many times. Experts report that they are informed about new developments more quickly via social networks than via specialist magazines or other previous information channels. These groups, which are often founded and maintained by patient associations, parents’ associations or other committed people, make it easier for patients to be recruited for studies.

 319.
However, this example also shows possible risks that lurk in the virtual world. In addition to false information or even forms of identity theft, it is difficult to ensure that patients are always well-informed and enthusiastic about studies. Therapeutic misunderstandings (such as the idea that participating in a “phase I” study could alleviate a patient’s suffering) cannot be recognized and cleared up based on short or lack of personal communication, just as in anonymous surveys, for example, age limits can be safely maintained. So if the Helsinki Declaration ( 2) in Section 30 requires the consent of legal representatives if incapable of consent, e.g. minors, are to take part in studies, it cannot be determined with certainty on social media whether a participant is of legal age. Specifications of applicable rules or new standards seem to be necessary here.

 320.
In addition, people post a lot of personal information on social networks, even if only for those with whom they are “friends”. There is a risk that users inadvertently reveal so much information about themselves that their identity can be determined or pass on information that could be used against them in the event of an insurance claim while looking for a job or stigmatizing them in a private context.

 321.
Disclosure of private information

 322.
Many also readily share that they or one of their relatives is affected by a certain disease. When one is hit by a bad stroke of fate, privacy often plays a subordinate role. Since the technology makes it possible to systematically and automatically access “open data” and to create profiles, this open information appears problematic for several reasons: Its consequences are often not recognized and are also not manageable, and data protection is hardly guaranteed. In addition, research with this data is made possible without a “data donor” ever having given their consent to use the data. It can therefore happen that a person concerned takes part in research and contributes to research goals without actually wanting to do so 3).

 323.
For doctors, however, role conflicts can arise. In the best sense of the word, they perform “telemedical” work in social media, the effects of which they cannot control. Your generally applicable information is used by patients in individual situations, and their individual advice is generalized. As a result, doctors lose control of their information. Their expert knowledge can also damage instead of use. When doctors talk to each other about patients, it should be noted that the networking of different information from social media may enable individuals to be identified. This brings the duty of confidentiality or a questionable release from the duty of confidentiality into focus. Collegial criticism of the actions of other doctors,

 324.
These problems seem solvable, but they must be discussed transparently and in compliance with the applicable professional, ethical regulations. This also applies to the application of professional law to social media because the telemedical aspects, the problem of confidentiality and collegiality pose professional legal challenges.

 325.
Communication via social networks always touches on questions of data protection. This applies above all to medical confidentiality as one of the basic duties of a doctor. Section 9 of the MBO-Ä stipulates that doctors must remain silent about what has been entrusted to them or become known to them in their capacity as doctors – including beyond the patient’s death. Last but not least, the duty of confidentiality also includes the fact that the individual patient is actually the doctor’s patient. The possibility of the disclosure can only arise from the statutory provision or the express or presumed consent of the patient.

 326.
Legal Implications

 327.
Particular caution is therefore required when using social networks. When actively contacting the patient, it should be ensured that third parties do not have any insight into the communication. If the patient agrees and can see the range, communication should be possible. However, the worldwide data transfer and the often unclear location of the storage of such data in countries with different data protection levels make the procedure problematic. The patient’s consent to the revelation also appears difficult. The doctor would have to point this out clearly and also carefully document the consent. Consent should also not presumably be given, as is the case with the use of special doctor software,

 328.
As part of the communication, the patients’ wish could be brought to the doctors to answer smaller inquiries. Even though the personal examination and advice as professional treatment are usually owed under civil law from the treatment contract, the legal problem of remote treatment is also important. Exclusive individual medical treatment and advice via print and communication media is prohibited. Even with telemedical procedures, it must be ensured that a doctor treats the patient immediately. Transferred to social media, communication between doctor and patient can become problematic if it leaves the purely administrative framework and specifically serves the purpose of the treatment.

 329.
In principle, social media can also be used for advertising purposes. For doctors, however, the special advertising law also applies here, which is particularly strictly regulated in the health sector for patient protection. As a result, advertising via social networks is not prohibited if they are within – otherwise – the given framework. In principle, factual and job-related information is permitted to the doctor; Misleading, promotional or comparative advertising is not permitted.

 330.
recommendations

 331.
The German Medical Association (BÄK) recently published a handout for doctors on dealing with social media ( 4 ). This is based on the recommendations of the 115th German Medical Association ( 5 ) and the World Medical Association ( 6 ) and is aimed at newcomers and experienced users. It explains what doctors should pay attention to when using this tool and sets out ten rules for safe use by professional law (box “10 rules”).

 332.
Observe medical confidentiality: patient-related information should not be published and, if so, only with the patient’s consent. Even then, confidentiality vis-à-vis the patient must be maintained. It must also not be possible to draw any conclusions about the patient’s identity from the sum of the information available online.

 333.
Do not defame colleagues – observe netiquette: Following professional law, the rules for collegial cooperation are also valid in social networks. Unobjective criticism of the method of treatment or the professional knowledge of a doctor, as well as disparaging statements, are unprofessional. Patients must not be defamed either.

 334.
Do not exceed the limits of the doctor-patient relationship: The relationship between patient and doctor must remain professional and separate from purely personal relationships. Requests for friendship from patients should be politely declined because online friendships with patients are not regularly established.

 335.
Separate professional and private profile from one another: Professional pages and profiles should be set up as far as possible to avoid mixing professional and private interests in advance.

 336.
Observe the ban on remote treatment: According to professional law, doctors are prohibited from giving individual therapeutic recommendations exclusively via print and communication media. Answering general health questions are permitted. Basically, it should be pointed out that an online offer cannot replace a consultation with a doctor.

 337.
No unprofessional advertising via social media: Promotional, misleading and comparative advertising is prohibited as unprofessional. The statement “Advertising and information technology: Effects on the professional profile of the doctor” by the Central Ethics Committee at the BÄK provides guidance.

 338.
Observe data protection and data security: not only in terms of patient protection but also in your own interest, the legal requirements according to the Federal Data Protection Act / State Data Protection Act and recommendations, for example from the Federal Office for Information Security, must be taken into account. The review of the general terms and conditions (GTC) of the provider must be checked for the aspects of data processing, data protection and copyright before use.

 339.
Prevent self-disclosure by patients: In contact with patients, they should not be tricked into disclosing personal information and especially health information to prevent abuse.

 340.
Reluctance to make product-related statements: statements made must be true according to a factual assertion. Expressions of opinion are possible, but they must not be defamatory since defamatory criticism is no longer covered by the constitutionally protected freedom of expression. Since the boundaries here sometimes blur, the author should be cautious about product-related statements in order not to become the target of injunctive relief.

 341.
Check liability insurance: Due to the liability risks described, the doctor using social media should check whether his liability insurance covers them.

 342.
Safety precautions

 343.
Most social media offerings offer the option of making settings for privacy. Whether for private or professional use – users should familiarize themselves with the setting options and have an overview of who can read what and how. Facebook, for example, offers the option of looking at your account from a different user perspective. Many believe that they can protect themselves in social networks with a pseudonym and cannot be found by third parties. The networking among each other and the friends list nevertheless allow conclusions drawn in many cases as to who is hiding behind an account. It is therefore important to be as professional and authentic as possible (box “Safety precautions”).

 344.
Training

 345.
Many players in the healthcare sector may be familiar with the possibilities of social media from their private environment. Still, they do not know how and for what they can and are allowed to use this media. Out of uncertainty and in order not to make mistakes, they avoid the new techniques. This is a mistake, however, because doctors and other health professionals must participate and steer developments for the benefit of patients. To do this, they must know and master the techniques. In addition to guidelines and recommendations, practical training is therefore important.

 346.
At the University Medical Center Mainz, the AG eHealth of the Institute for Medical Biometry, Epidemiology and Computer Science has developed various courses as part of internal university funding for innovative teaching. In October 2013, a one-day workshop on “Communication between doctors and patients – how new media pose new challenges” was successfully offered nationwide for the first time to medical students. The teaching concepts, which are also being developed as part of a doctoral thesis at the institute there, have been expanded to include other target groups. At the beginning of 2014, two nursing courses were offered through the advanced training program of the Mainz University Medical Center. The offers are to be further expanded and offered at other locations, such as the Hannover Medical School.

 347.
Outlook and conclusion

 348.
Social media will change and potentially improve the interaction and communication between everyone involved. A greater reach with simple means (including a targeted transfer of information) is possible. The knowledge of patients is made easier to use and visible. Social media will not only help generate new information but also ensure that the wheat is separated from the chaff. Networking among all actors is becoming increasingly important. Personal recommendations from your own network will gain importance, for example, when looking for a new doctor. The health sector must consider the potential dangers in this progressive networking and, if necessary, develops suitable solutions for identified problems or ensures that appropriate alternatives are promoted.

 349.
Compared to clinics or doctors, other institutions in the health sector are much further ahead. One example is the German Bone Marrow Donor File (DKMS): To reach new target groups, the DKMS has been on Facebook for a long time. So-called communication teams keep in contact via Facebook with potential donors and those who have been typed. The “followers” are informed about campaigns, receive book tips and find out firsthand how transplant recipients have fared. The topic of bone marrow donation becomes personal and “gets a face”.

 350.
Society is moving towards the preferred exchange of digital information via social media. Doctors and other members of the health professions must not ignore this trend not to miss the boat and experience a “communication deficit”. Dealing with the topic is important because it creates new ways of exchanging information with the potential for the healthcare sector. If you follow simple rules, nothing stands in the way of use. Help with questions can also be obtained from the responsible state medical association.

 369.

“If you are not embarrassed by the first version of your product, you have brought it to market too late”. This quote from LinkedIn co-founder perfectly captures the importance of being agile in the new digital economy. In the age of digital transformation, having user feedback as soon as possible enables better market adaptation and higher competitiveness.

 370.
The data product

 371.
A digital data product solves business challenges through the use of data. It integrates three components: technical infrastructure, business logic, and data. A data product can save costs, as is the case with predictive maintenance products, or increase sales, e.g. B. with a personalization engine for e-commerce shops. Like all digital products, data products are evolving with new functionalities, using more data or employing more software. In any case, the complexity of software development is compounded by the difficulty of data analysis. Both dimensions of the digital product need to be integrated so that the way the data product is built combines the best of both worlds.

 372.
Use of technology designed for more speed

 373.
The public cloud is the new paradigm of technology consumption. It provides computing power, storage, databases, and other functionality on demand and a pay-per-use basis. Both digital native startups and large multinational companies use the public cloud to accelerate the delivery of their products and services. The primary public cloud platforms on the market are Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. The scope and depth of services and reliability and innovation are the main criteria when choosing one cloud platform over another.

 374.
Creation of software with agile methods

 375.
Software construction has evolved in recent years thanks to DevOps techniques that enable faster build cycles with fewer errors and better traceability of software state. However, many companies continue to conduct projects traditionally, with long cycles of requirements gathering, design, and testing. The traditional construction of software often mismatch user expectations as market conditions, customers, or the business evolve and change during software development. Agile methods prioritize getting early feedback and delivering functionality to users at shorter intervals. The product is built incrementally and iteratively, and there are frequent deliveries, which are placed at the customer’s service from the first moment. The delivered product is usable for the customer and offers end-to-end service. The product grows around users’ needs: continuous feedback flowing into the product optimizes its value and reduces the risk of investing in features that are not of interest.

 376.
The priority is to create a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and quickly make it available to users, choosing at any given moment the functionality that best meets market demand. Optimizes its value and reduces the risk of investing in features that are not of interest. The priority is to create a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and quickly make it available to users, choosing at any given moment the functionality that best meets market demand. Optimizes its value and reduces the risk of investing in features that are not of interest. The priority is to create a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and quickly make it available to users, choosing at any given moment the functionality that best meets market demand.

 377.
The analytics skills

 378.
Suppose the digital product involves data processing and analysis, whether descriptive, predictive, or prescriptive. In that case, it is necessary to integrate different skills in the team: on the one hand, the software development skills, which are more deterministic and follow the DevOps processes; and on the other hand, data analysis skills that are more exploratory and experimental. Both skills must work together to deliver new features regularly, match the cycles of data exploration to those of software construction, and understand that ongoing experiments are conducted until the analytical part of the product is debugged. These experiments will be part of the software and will receive feedback from the users, just like the software’s functionality.

 379.
Avoid silos and frustration.

 380.
One of the main frustrations of software professionals and analysts is working within digital production lines. These production lines are intended to scale by distinguishing activities that start with data exploration and continue with data engineering, ingests and transformations, model development and training, visualization or delivery of the data through dashboards or other interfaces, and operation of the resulting product. The lack of visibility causes developers and analysts to feel frustrated because they don’t have a complete view of the end product goal and have to make a lot of mental context switches, moving from one product to another without any continuity. The best solution for this is product teams. Dedicated to a single product, these teams have the skills to deliver the end product and even operate it. In this way, the whole team participates in the feedback dynamic of the agile methodology and has a clear goal and total focus on the product. The size of product teams should be small. As Amazon founder Jeff Bezos said, the team should be small enough to be supported on two pizzas.

 381.
Scale through automation

 382.
The model of digital product design with agile methods and product teams is not without problems. Scalability is complex, as the number of teams must be multiplied by the number of products being built simultaneously in the company. Even products are so complex that they require separating development teams and using agile scaling methodologies. When many product teams work simultaneously, there can be inefficiencies, e.g. B. when a standard functionality between two products is created twice or when further development or production tools are used. Communities of practice are organized to bring people together who have shared skills, such as data scientists or software developers. In these communities of practice, collegial decisions are made that ensure a certain degree of homogeneity but do not slow down the progress of the products.

 383.
On the other hand, Shared Service Centers create reusable artifacts that implement standard functionalities for the projects, such as security and authentication, auditing, etc. These artifacts are made available to the product teams via vending machines in a way that serves to accelerate the delivery of values and, at the same time, create a certain degree of homogeneity. The Catalog of Reusable Artifacts is a digital product in its own right and the teams that create it.

 384.
Summarized

 385.
The most competitive companies on the market choose to use digital products because they strengthen the ability to customize and flexibility, understand the success of software development as continuous improvement of business parameters, often provide added value to the user, and invest only in what makes economic sense worthwhile and valuable. They use the most versatile and flexible technology: the public cloud; they build digital products instead of executing projects and scale through automation techniques and agile methods.

But they can only be realized through blockchain technology, which can be applied to many different areas.

 405.
When the person or group of people, who has remained anonymous to this day, called themselves “Satoshi Nakamoto”, implemented the Bitcoin software in 2009, it was the starting signal for the world’s first publicly accessible blockchain.

 406.
Why do you want to invest money?

 407.
Build wealth

 408.
Fulfill dream

 409.
Save for children

 410.
Make provisions for old age

 411.
No specific goal

 412.
Take an investor test now

 413.
1 | What is a blockchain?

 414.
Put; a blockchain is a digital and decentralized database or register that can be expanded chronologically and linearly with new data or information. For this reason, one speaks of a chain that keeps getting longer.

 415.
People often speak of “the blockchain”. This is misleading because there is no such thing as one blockchain. Any number of blockchains can be created. For example, each cryptocurrency has its own blockchain.

 416.
In principle, any digital (or digitizable) information can now be recorded and secured with a blockchain.

 417.
The technical innovation of blockchains is that the recorded information is valid and transparent, while users remain completely anonymous and can interact directly with one another. So far, this has been a contradiction.

 418.
An example

 419.
This can best be illustrated using currencies: the transfer of fiat money is only possible with a personalized bank account. In this way, intermediary banks can check and safeguard the correctness of the transaction.

 420.
Units of a cryptocurrency based on a blockchain, on the other hand, can change hands via wallets without their identity being known. Still, the transaction is valid and secure. In addition, no financial institution is required to secure the corresponding transactions. This is also an absolute novelty.

 421.
How does this work?

 422.
Simple explanation: This video explains briefly and clearly how this works without going into too many technical details.

 423.
Video (youtube)

 424.
More detailed explanation: A slightly more detailed explanation of the technical functioning of a blockchain, however, shows this video.

 425.
Video (youtube)

 426.
What are the advantages?

 427.

 428.
Decentralized structure: Control bodies (such as banks) are replaced by a network of electronic end devices (e.g. computers). That saves time and money.

 429.
Validity: The network checks and legitimizes new information and adds the data as blocks to the blockchain.

 430.
Transparency: The expansion of the blockchain can be tracked (and checked).

 431.
Security: Once the information has been added to the blockchain and verified, it can (in principle) no longer be changed:
 432.

 433.
Each end device connected to the network contains a copy of the complete blockchain file.

 434.
If information is changed within a block, all subsequent data blocks change and the entire blockchain file.

 435.
Comparing a manipulated file with the other files in the network would expose the manipulation. As a result, it would be excluded, and the correct data set would be certain. In this way, the blockchain is protected against corruption.

 436.

 437.

 438.

 439.
2 | Why the hype?

 440.
Blockchain is on everyone’s lips and across all industries. But why is the new technology causing so much enthusiasm?

 441.
In principle, independent parties who do not trust each other are allowed to conclude agreements – even without involving a third party. In this way, immense sums of money could be saved in the future and economic processes accelerated. And that makes blockchain interesting for many companies.

 442.
In a study of the consulting firm Deloitte from 2019, over half (53%) of the 1,300 executives surveyed said that blockchain technology is now a top priority for their companies. In addition, the study shows a particularly high level of investment in the blockchain area among those surveyed. The authors of the study conclude that blockchain technology is increasingly understood and used by entrepreneurs.

 443.
In the follow-up study, This assumption is confirmed: The 1,500 executives surveyed have lost their doubts in 2020. They use blockchain technology and see it as an integral part of entrepreneurial innovation.

 444.
Tech giants Facebook and Google also want to use blockchain potential. Facebook founded its own think tank to examine the possible uses of the technology and is also planning its own blockchain-based cryptocurrency with “Diem” (formerly “Libra”). Google, on the other hand, is currently working on making blockchains searchable with the “Blockchain ETL” tool.

 445.
3 | Is Blockchain Overrated?

 446.
The unbridled enthusiasm for new technology can lead to future developments being assessed disproportionately positively. That such a process can have unpleasant consequences was felt by numerous small investors in 2000 when the dot-com bubble burst.

 447.
Because of the complexity in the blockchain area, it is difficult to assess whether a new business idea, company formation or initial coin offering ( ICO ) is about the next big thing or hot air.

 448.
For this reason, the Hasso Plattner Institute for Digital Engineering carried out a study in 2018 on the subject of “Blockchain – Hype or Innovation” carried out and published. The study classifies many of the numerous expectations placed on blockchain technologies as exaggerated. Nevertheless, the institute’s researchers see a wide range of potential if initial weaknesses in blockchain technology are corrected.

 449.
On the technical side, the disadvantages mentioned include inadequate standardization and the inability to work together between different systems. In addition, drastic power consumption is a major obstacle.

 450.
Overall, according to the study, the technology is still in its infancy but could be used in many areas and industries in the future.

 451.
4 | In which areas can blockchain be used?

 452.
The study by the Hasso Plattner Institute came to the result that contracts secured in a blockchain, so-called smart contacts, could unfold a wide range of possible uses.

 453.
Smart contracts enable the secure exchange of data and the management of digital identities. For example, they could be used to rent out real estate digitally and save time, trade works of art or manage health data.

 454.
Blockchain could also offer good solutions in the logistics sector. The city of Dubai announced that it wanted to handle all supply chains automatically using a blockchain.

 455.
The following list contains a selection of other areas for which blockchain solutions are conceivable and are currently being discussed:

 456.

 457.
Banking

 458.
Insurance

 459.
Finance

 460.
Healthcare

 461.
Public administration

 470.
Even if the implementation of blockchain technology in these areas has so far been more discussed than implemented, the question of any security gaps arises.

 471.
Security is guaranteed by the decentralized storage and validation of the blockchain. In theory, the stored information can still be manipulated if more than half (51%) of the decentralized network can be hacked. In this way, a manipulated file could be recognized as the correct one because it would be represented most frequently. However, since such a state is tough to achieve, a blockchain is generally considered secure.

This leads to new blockchain systems, and it can therefore be assumed that all currently existing systems will be replaced by improved alternatives in the future.

 498.

Whatsapp has become an indispensable part of everyday life for many people. Overall, the messaging app belonging to the Facebook group has around 1.5 billion monthly active users worldwide. As a rule, they should know how to write text messages or send voice messages, but Whatsapp now offers many other functions. In the following, we want to show you some of these Whatsapp tricks and also go into the most crucial setting options.

 499.
Whatsapp: Bluetick and last online

 500.
Since 2014, blue ticks in a Whatsapp chat have shown that your counterpart has read the corresponding message. This is a handy feature, especially when it comes to telling someone something that doesn’t require a direct response. But unfortunately, there are those incorrigible contemporaries who don’t want to see that you can’t or don’t always want to react immediately to one of their messages. For them, a blue tick is an open invitation to ask questions or even to criticize why they don’t get an answer to their message.

 501.
Blue ticks indicate that your Whatsapp message has been read. (Screenshot: Whatsapp Web)

 502.
Anyone who is in contact with such people can consider simply deactivating the blue tick. To do this, go to Settings > Account > Privacy and disable read receipts. But beware: You will no longer see if someone has read your messages. In addition, in the same menu, you can also ensure that WhatsApp no longer displays when you were last online. Although you should note here that you will still be displayed online if you are. Only the time of your last Whatsapp use is no longer displayed to your contacts.

 503.
Whatsapp trick for more peace: This is how you mute group chats

 504.
Loved and Hated: Group chats provide an easy way to connect with friends or family. Depending on the people in a group who need notification, the many notifications can get on your nerves very quickly. Fortunately, you can also mute groups. You have to click on the menu icon at the top right-hand edge within the group to do this. Then select the Mute menu item. You can choose whether you want to “mute” the group for eight hours, a week, or forever. You can also specify whether you still want to receive notifications from the muted group.

 505.
Pin Whatsapp chats: This is how you keep your favorites.

 506.
Suppose you don’t always want to scroll through the chat overview to find the message history with a specific person or favorite group. In that case, you can also pin individual chat histories in the chat overview. The respective chat is then displayed at the top – even if there are more recent messages in other chats. On Android, you have to press longer on a chat. Several icons then appear above the overview. The first shows a thumbtack. If you select that, the chat will be fixed. On iOS, you have to swipe from left to right over the desired message history to see the option.

 507.
Whatsapp trick for a better organization: save posts for later

 508.
Depending on how active your chat contacts are, exciting links or pictures can quickly get lost in the flood of messages. Conveniently, you can also save messages for later. To do this, press and hold the respective message and select the star icon in the top bar. You can then retrieve messages marked in this way by clicking the ⁝ icon in the chat overview and selecting Starred.

 509.
Delete Whatsapp messages: How it works

 510.
If you have accidentally sent a message to the wrong recipient, there is now the option of subsequently deleting this message. To do this, press and hold the corresponding message and then select the trash can icon. Then you have to click on delete for everyone. But beware: You can only delete messages about an hour after they were sent.

 511.
If you want to pimp your text messages a bit, you can also include animated GIFs. The highlight: Whatsapp allows you to access the GIF search engine Giphy via Messenger directly. On iOS, you have to go into a chat and click on the sticker icon directly in the chat field. Then select the GIF icon at the bottom of the screen. On Android, you will find the function if you select the emoji overview in the text input field.

 512.
How to make your GIFs with Whatsapp?

 513.
If you want, you can also create your GIFs with Whatsapp. Select the camera icon in a chat and then hold down the virtual shutter button to record a video. The clip will then be shown to you again, and you can convert the video into the popular moving image file format by clicking on the GIF lettering at the top. You can also edit the video length and enhance the GIF with texts, emojis, or drawings.

 514.
Protect Whatsapp account with 2-factor authentication

 515.
Since November 2016, Whatsapp has offered the option of protecting your account with optional two-factor authentication. You can use it to set a pin to secure your account further. However, if you forget this pin, you can no longer move to a new smartphone with your Whatsapp account. To protect against this, the Facebook subsidiary offers you to deposit an e-mail address for recovery. However, this potentially reduces the security of the whole mechanism again.

 516.
To enable two-factor authentication in Whatsapp, you need to follow the steps below:

 517.

 518.
opens WhatsApp

 519.
then go to your settings and select 2-Step Verification

 520.
now you have to set your six-digit pin and remember it well

 521.
In the last step, you can also enter your e-mail address

 522.

 523.
This is how you can format your Text

 524.
Since March 2016, you can also format your texts on Whatsapp. This is how it works:

 525.
Bold: *text*

 526.
Italics: _Text_

 527.
Strikethrough: ~ Text ~

 528.
Block Whatsapp contacts: How it works

 529.
We don’t want to evaluate at this point why or why one of your contacts should no longer contact you. But the fact is that there is a practical function in Whatsapp for this. To use them, all you have to do on Android is call up the menu in the chat history with the person concerned. Here you select More and then go to Block. On iOS, you can find the option by tapping on the person’s name and selecting Block this Contact.

 530.
We have no time! This is how you play Whatsapp voice messages faster.

 531.
Since May 2021, you can change the playback speed of voice messages on Whatsapp. It works like this: First, you press the play button. The speed button will then be displayed instead of the profile picture on the right edge of the voice message. If you press the once, the playback speed increases to 1.5 times the speed. The message will be played at double speed if you press it again. If you press the button again, the actual speed will be restored.

 532.
Nothing lasts forever: Send self-deleting Whatsapp messages.

 533.
Like other messaging services, Whatsapp now offers the option of adding an expiry date to messages. However, you have to activate this function individually for each chat. To do this, press the recipient’s name at the top of the screen in the respective message history. Now a menu will appear where you have to click on Self-Deleting Messages. But be careful: If your message is quoted, it will still be visible after the seven days have expired. Even if the message is forwarded to another chat, it will still be visible. In addition, these messages are also saved in the recipient’s backup file. Apart from that, you can never know whether the recipient has taken a screenshot of your message.

 534.
Broadcast Lists: One message to many recipients

 535.
Whatsapp groups are a great way to communicate with multiple contacts simultaneously. However, if you want to send a message to several contacts without the other recipients noticing, creating a broadcast list is suitable. The respective answers of the recipients then appear as individual chats. On iOS, select Broadcasts in the top left of Whatsapp and then create a new list. On Android, you will find the corresponding option in the main menu. However, you can only send broadcast messages to people who have also saved your number in their phone book.

 536.
No preview of Whatsapp messages

 537.
At least on iOS, you can rule out that you get a preview of incoming messages on the lock screen. For example, you can prevent someone near you from seeing a private message. To turn off the preview, go to Settings, select Notifications, and turn off showing the preview.

 538.
Whatsapp: Show profile picture, info, and status only to friends

 539.
Anyone who has your number can add you to Whatsapp and see your self-written info text, profile picture, and status by default. Thankfully, you can prevent this by making the appropriate settings. You can find it under Settings > Account > Privacy. You can set separately for the profile picture, your info, and the status whether everyone, only your contacts, or nobody should see them.

 540.
Whatsapp Web reflects the messages from your Whatsapp client in your Chrome, Firefox, or Opera browser, so you can conveniently receive and send messages from your desktop. The service can also be used on a tablet with a bit of a trick: If you are using Chrome on an Android tablet with a screen size of ten inches or more, it should be sufficient to request the desktop version of the page via the menu button. Then you scan the displayed QR code with your smartphone, and you’re good to go. However, with smaller tablets, the QR code may not be displayed correctly.

 541.
Whatsapp:

 542.
How do I secure my chats?

 543.
On Android, you can back up your chats to Google Drive. To create a Drive backup, go to Settings, select Chats, and then Chat Backup. Here you can also specify whether you want to start the backups manually or whether WhatsApp should automatically save backup copies in the Google cloud daily, weekly or monthly basis. You can also determine whether backups should only be carried out via the WLAN or the mobile data connection.

 544.
WhatsApp Backup with Google Drive – Here’s how it works.

 545.
On iOS, you can back up your chat history to iCloud. However, you must first activate iCloud Drive under iPhone Settings > iCloud > iCloud Drive. You can then initiate a backup under Whatsapp > Settings > Chat Backup or specify the interval at which the app should automatically create an iCloud backup. You can deactivate the Use mobile data entry under iPhone Settings > iCloud > Documents & Data to save your data volume. Then backups are only carried out if you go to the Internet with your iPhone via WLAN.

 546.
Important note:

 547.
Your chats are not stored encrypted in the cloud. This applies to iCloud and Google Drive.

 548.
The possibility of sending one’s location via Whatsapp has been available since March 2012. Nevertheless, many people do not seem to use this function. It’s pretty handy when you want to meet someone. Especially if the person isn’t overly familiar with a city. Incidentally, you add your current position just like pictures or other media using the paperclip symbol on Android or the plus symbol on iOS.

 549.
How can I use my Whatsapp account with a new phone number?

 550.
If you get a new phone number, you don’t have to create a new Whatsapp account right away. Instead, you can change the number associated with your account. Your previous chats will also be retained if you use the same phone. You can find the function to change the number in the menu under Settings > Account > Change number.

 551.
Whatsapp: Ban incoming media from the gallery

 552.
There can be various reasons why we do not want to see pictures or videos sent via Whatsapp in the media gallery of our smartphones. Thankfully, this can be prevented. This is particularly easy on iOS: you go to the iOS settings menu, and from there, you select Privacy > Photos. Now all you have to do is press the corresponding switch on Whatsapp.

 553.
Unfortunately, on Android, the whole thing is a bit more complicated. To prevent the Google operating system from scanning a folder for media files and displaying them in the gallery or elsewhere, it must contain an otherwise empty file named media. Therefore, you must create such a file in the corresponding folder for images and videos under Whatsapp > Media on your SD card. You either do this with a file browser like the ES File Explorer File Manager, or you make it a little easier for yourself and use unique apps designed precisely.

 572.

Are you attacking robots? Seriously?

 573.
“War is the father of all things,” the Greek philosopher Heraclitus knew more than 2,500 years ago. The Internet and Silicon Valley are children of the military. In the beginning, Silicon Valley, a hotbed of digital superpowers like Facebook and Google, was a branch of the US Department of Defense. One of the great pioneers and masterminds was Norbert Wiener. He founded the new science of cybernetics at the end of World War II and remained a realist. In his last work, “Gott und Golem,” Wiener also warned against the “apparatus worshipers” who, like Goethe’s sorcerer’s apprentice, forgot the password with which they can turn off their magic.

 574.
Thomas Rid describes cybernetics as a general theory of machines in his new book “Maschinendämmerung.” Rid researches and teaches in England at the Department of War Studies and is a military researcher. He considers the rise of machines to be a useful myth. The technological promises have so far never been kept. At the turn of the millennium, the Pentagon pursued a new dimension of the war in space with “cyberspace.” It is not the machines that take over; the cybernetic myth takes over. It is not man and machine that merge, but myth and machine.

 575.
Rids successful short story of cybernetics is a story of creative failure: every machine myth either awakens a new false hope for a more peaceful, fairer world or stirs up fears of the uncontrolled automation of learning machines that will eventually replace humans.

 576.
Martin Ford also sees the age of robots, artificial intelligence, and automation coming in his new book “The Rise of Robots.” Machines, according to Ford, will not only increase our productivity, but they will also transform themselves into workers and replace people in the long run. The new “unemployed future” has serious socio-political consequences: The world of work and capital are becoming more blurred than ever.

 577.
In the future, the wave of automation will not only affect transport companies, loan officers, insurance experts, and service staff. Even executives and superiors – from doctors to lawyers to supervisory boards – can no longer be sure of their role in the future: All routine activities can be digitized and automated. The average hourly wage for a robot is less than six euros. Even in developing and emerging countries, their use is already worthwhile. For Ford, the stagnation of average wages in many Western countries is proof that the automation of work is already having an effect: no office job is safe anymore.

 578.
Will the digital market economy replace the social economy in the future?

 579.
The book “Smarte Maschinen” by Ulrich Eberl delivers the all-clear. For the longtime head of innovation communication at Siemens and today’s science and technology journalist, the advantages of the new, intelligent working environment outweigh the rest. We will get used to robots that can build houses, write articles, and take care of us in the future.

 580.
Eberl predicts that the jobs that have been outsourced to China or India will return because intelligent machines are now taking them over. It will be much more important to be close to the customer and to produce as flexibly and individually as possible. When and where the work is done will become less important. Eberl sees the age of networked virtual teams coming, the proportion of freelancers will increase significantly. The biggest challenge is the restructuring of our education system. Creativity is becoming the key to the new digital world of work.

 581.
During the First Industrial Revolution, John Stuart Mill wrote that “there could be no more legitimate concern for government” than to look after the livelihoods of those being replaced by machines. Martin Ford also advocates an unconditional tax-financed basic income – and thus joins a growing movement. Many venture capitalists from Silicon Valley and also the head of Deutsche Telekom are campaigning for the new social benefit. Finland is currently the first country to test the basic income and justifies the experiment with the advance of robots.

 582.
But maybe everything will turn out differently. More than 50 years ago, the “Spiegel” with the title “Entry of Robots” opened and warned of the era of automation. A few years later, the computer age also reached Germany, which the same magazine welcomed with the title “Progress makes you unemployed.” The picture shows a robot grabbing a worker and moving him to one side.

 583.
First the revolution, then the execution?

 584.
Automation is not a curse but a blessing for humanity. Instead of running against the machine and fighting it, we should run and cooperate with it. Every activity that a machine can do, it should do. That’s why we developed it: Machines should give us more time that we can use for other, more meaningful activities.

 585.
The real activity of man lies in his creativity; reproduction is a matter for the machine.

 586.
Sure: we will have to learn to work with robots in the future. Nevertheless, the machine remains our tool, our golem. We stay the original. The price we have to pay in the end in the age of machines and robots is different. We will have to learn what we really want.

An adaptable and convergent network is badly needed, argues Jürgen Hatheier, Chief Technology Officer, EMEA, Ciena, in a guest post.

 606.
Bandwidth can only be replaced by one thing: more bandwidth! That’s one of many service providers’ promises to attract new customers. However, bandwidth alone is by no means the most important factor for users when it comes to the Internet. A Ciena survey conducted in Germany shows that 35 per cent of consumers name a stable connection as the most important technical aspect. This means that stability is even more important than security and data protection, which only one in four (26 per cent) consider the most important aspect.

 607.
This is not surprising given that working from home has become the norm for many workers. It is possible to reduce bandwidth consumption by simply turning off video on conference calls and actively participating. On the other hand, having to keep dialling in because of interruptions in the Internet connection, even if conferences could be displayed in the highest video resolution, causes more dissatisfaction among users than a reliable connection to the network without video. Bandwidth is a key factor to allow for the overhead that a stable line requires without sacrificing the user experience. This shows that the way we use the Internet is changing and, as a result, so are expectations and demands.

 608.
An important factor that should ensure fast and reliable connections to the network, especially in Germany, is the expansion of the 5G network. While the fifth generation of mobile communications promises significant improvements in network performance and user experience, important improvements to the underlying network infrastructure are still needed before users reap the full benefits. Finally, some exciting applications enabled by 5G will require higher bandwidth and lower latency.

 609.
In this context, the new wireless standard offers the performance to enable modern and bandwidth-intensive services on the one hand. However, on the other hand, it is still dependent on wired networks and outdated infrastructure. This regularly negates the inherent benefits. Consequently, an adaptive network framework must be in place to support and accommodate the compute-intensive and latency-sensitive requirements.

 610.
The edge cloud also plays a critical role, as 5G deployment requires an approach where cloud resources are effective “closer” to end-users and systems at the edge of the network. As demand for 5G increases and adoption accelerates, a 5G and edge cloud ecosystem is emerging that must evolve to enable the deployment of intelligent and future-proof networks.

 611.
High demand for 5G connectivity

 612.
The demand for the new generation of mobile communication is unbroken. In the survey conducted by Ciena, more than half (57 per cent) of German consumers surveyed said they would be willing to pay more for internet access if it was 5G-based than they are paying today. Additionally, 54 per cent believe they will have better access to the Internet when 5G becomes widely available. This underscores consumers’ desire for faster speeds, ultra-low latency, and reliable connectivity.

 613.
Compared to the existing, older 4G networks (LTE), 5G will offer up to 100 times higher data throughput, 100 times more connected devices, 10 times lower latency times, 1000 times more data volume and perceived network availability of 99.999 per cent. The new cellular standard is essential as we increasingly rely on digital connectivity to be productive at home, at work, at school and in social interactions.

 614.
As working life evolves towards a hybrid model, people want to reap the benefits of great connectivity no matter where they are or which devices they are working on. However, it must be ensured that the underlying infrastructure allows this.

 615.
The Importance of the Edge Cloud

 616.
The challenge is that today’s consumers and businesses have completely changed the way consumers and businesses access and use network services. The home has now become the hub for work, school and entertainment. There are now more users and devices on the home network, all accessing different applications from the cloud simultaneously.

 617.
Therefore, a new generation of networks is needed. For example, the fibre optic connections (FTTH) market has steadily increased in recent years. This trend is driven by the accelerated adoption of IoT devices and growing demand for online gaming, high-definition video streaming, and, more recently, distance learning and remote work.

 618.
Also, the rise of remote working has prompted companies to change their work processes. This impacts the services businesses need. Therefore, the traditional distribution of access to the Internet is gradually shifting from network-based and private lines to fixed broadband connections, public IP, direct Internet access and cloud-based network and security services.

 619.
5G is of paramount importance because it is the new mobile communications standard that will enable an unlimited number of new services and applications, which would not be possible without the edge cloud. It’s about reliable bandwidth for thousands of smaller data centres deployed as close as possible to where content is created, consumed and processed by people and systems. The edge cloud will help reduce latency and transportation costs and accommodate our changing digital lifestyle.

 620.
However, there are concerns that new 5G sites and new edge computing data centres could put additional pressure on the environment. However, thanks to technological advances, it is possible to reduce power consumption while achieving unprecedented network performance significantly. Let’s take the advances in optical transmission technology as an example. With this technology, a bit of data travels through the network using only 10 per cent of the energy that it would have required 10 years ago.

 621.
Convergence of networks

 622.
The networks of today and tomorrow need convergence – not just of business, mobile and home networks, but multi-level convergence that integrates IP and Ethernet through an optimized optical layer. This results in less hardware and lower costs for the network operator. These networks must also be made up of components that can be deployed together or independently as required. This includes optimized routing and end-to-end, closed-loop automation that leverages advanced analytics and intelligence.

 623.
Therefore, realizing the benefits of 5G for all involved requires a network that uses open APIs and network interfaces and is designed for interoperability and performance telemetry. However, this is not the case today.

 624.
Furthermore, real-time network virtualization is only possible with best-in-class analytics across the entire multi-layer infrastructure. This is another way to reduce operational costs further, minimize hardware dependencies, and ensure faster updates and upgrades.

 625.
Conclusion

 626.
Today’s existing metro and edge network architectures will hardly be able to provide new services efficiently and profitably for the providers. For this purpose, the networks must be further developed in the interest of modern working and living methods of users and network operators. If network operators implement this evolution, all users will benefit from modern and innovative network services, regardless of where they work, study or are entertained.
