65.
According to the Federal Reserve, Americans carry around $5,800 in credit card debt from month to month. Making the minimum monthly payment on that debt would take 30 years to pay off, and include an additional $15,000 in interest. According to the Administrative Office of the Courts, 2,078,415 bankruptcies were filed in 2005–the largest number of bankruptcy petitions in the history of the federal courts. With the new tougher bankruptcy laws, people are looking for alternative ways of managing their debts.Debt consolidation loans are a popular way for people to free up money each month by consolidating several monthly credit card payments into a single lower interest loan. But, the question is whether it’s best to consolidate those debts into a home equity loan or an unsecured debt consolidation loan.Debt Consolidation Home Equity LoansA home equity loan is a one-time lump sum of money you receive in the form of a second mortgage that is secured by the equity in your home. Equity is the difference between how much the home is worth and how much altogether you own on it.A second mortgage loan is usually a fixed interest loan with rates that runs slightly higher than those of a first mortgage loan, unless it’s a 125% Loan To Value (LTV) loan that allows homeowners to borrow beyond the value of their homes. Those rates usually run much higher that other second mortgages and origination fees can be as much as 10% of the loan balance.Home equity loans usually are repaid in a shorter time than first mortgages, with repayment periods typically being between 5 and 20 years. Like a first mortgage, you have to pay off the balance of a home equity loan when you sell your home, so it’s best to find out if there are any prepayment penalties or balloon payments on your loan in case you decide to pay the loan early or sell your house before the loan matures.Benefits and Drawbacks of Home Equity LoansThe main benefit of a debt consolidation home equity loan is that most states allow you to deduct up to 100% of the interest you pay on your taxes. Other benefits include the fact that home equity loans typically have a lower interest rate than unsecured loans, and borrowers can get relatively large amounts of money. While home equity loans have attractive benefits, there are also major drawbacks. One is that if you fail to meet the payment schedule required by the loan, the lender can foreclose on your home and you will lose it even if you go into bankruptcy. Secured loans are not dischargeable by Chapter 7 bankruptcy.Another major drawback is that exploitative lenders target homeowners, especially those with low incomes or poor credit. According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), there are many predatory scams, including:· Equity Stripping: The loan is based on the equity in your home, not on your ability to repay it.· Credit Insurance Packing: The lender adds credit insurance to your loan, which you may not need.· Bait and Switch: The lender offers one set of loan terms when you apply, then pressures you into higher charges when you sign to complete the transaction.· Deceptive Loan Servicing: The lender doesn’t provide you with accurate or complete account statements and payoff figures. That makes it nearly impossible for you to determine how much you’ve paid and how much you owe.If you are not sure whether a home equity loan is right for your needs, you may want to consider an unsecured personal debt consolidation loan.Personal Unsecured Debt Consolidation LoanIf your credit is relatively good, and you are employed, you may be able to obtain an unsecured personal loan to pay off some or all of your high-interest credit card debts. With a personal unsecured debt consolidation loan, there is no collateral against the loan. This means that the lender is relying only on your promise to repay the loan according to the loan’s terms and conditions. While the loan amounts are not as much as those of debt consolidation home equity loans, they can amount up to $10,000. Loans up to $1,000 may not even require a credit check. When shopping for a personal unsecured debt consolidation loan, it is important to shop around for the best rates and loan terms. Unsecured debt consolidation loans have lower interest rates than credit cards, but they generally have higher interest rates than secured personal loans like home equity loans. Some loans allow you to take anywhere from one to five years to repay, which can ease financial stress.Benefits and Drawbacks of Personal Unsecured Debt Consolidation Loans
66. The main benefit of getting an unsecured debt consolidation loan is that if you are forced into bankruptcy, the unsecured debt may be discharged in the bankruptcy proceedings. The main drawback is that you must have good to excellent credit to get an unsecured debt consolidation loan, and the loan amounts are typically less than a home equity loan. The interest rates on unsecured debt consolidation loans are typically much higher than that of a home equity loan, and it is not unusual for a debt consolidator to obtain a commission of 10% or more on your new loan.In ConclusionThe answer to the question of whether you should get a debt consolidation home equity loan or unsecured personal loan all depends on your financial circumstances. If you have relatively good credit, are employed and only a few debts you need to consolidate, you may benefit from getting an unsecured personal loan. However, if your credit is not so good or you have a lot of debts, a home equity loan may your best answer.

 84.
I often speak to groups of small business owners and I keep hearing the same comment over and over again with many of them saying that marketers don’t matter or marketing doesn’t matter anymore. There are many reasons I’ve heard as to why marketing doesn’t matter: “all my business comes by referral,” “I never spent money on marketing and my business grew,” “marketing is a waste of money,” “I see no value in marketing,” “marketing is all luck so why spend money on it,” and so on.Oh, how they are so very wrong! Below are the top 3 reasons why:1. Their definition of marketing is wrongWhen business owners tell me that marketing doesn’t matter, they usually have a totally different understanding of what marketing is than those who recognise how marketing contributes to business goals where it enables you to charge the most money you can for your services and products.Marketing is first about spending time building a solid foundation based on strategy before proposing a series of tactics aimed at lifting sales. Until the business finds a way to change the context of how their ideal customer views what they do, and then becomes become the obvious choice provider, they’ll find that their marketing efforts never seem to build momentum or gain any return on investment. You must be able to enter the conversation taking place in the head of your customers. Or, to look at it in a different way, to be able to address the number one question on your customer’s mind at exactly the right time. So, how do you do this? The conversation that is taking place in every prospective customer’s mind revolves around two major points. There is a problem they have, and that they don’t want… and there is a result that they want, and they don’t have. Those who often misunderstand marketing believe that it is only about advertising campaigns, brochures, flyers, website, email marketing, SEO, tradeshows, social media, copy, etc. These are the tactics – the way you implement your marketing. I’d argue that marketing is essentially the core of business strategy because it is about understanding the current customer, tapping into their fears, their goals and their aspirations and then creating products and services that the ideal customer is willing to buy from a brand they now they know, like and trust.2. They believe either they or their co-worker can do itSometimes in the “do it all yourself” world of small business (or even big business when it comes to it), it’s difficult to identify the areas that require outside help. A business may be able to set up their newsletter, add plugins to WordPress, write a Facebook or LinkedIn post, and clumsily create header graphics, but you need somebody who is trained, practiced, and skilled at looking strategically and holistically at the marketplace, understanding the customer, and then creating unique opportunities based on this understanding.Just think about it for a minute; just because you have a calculator and excel does that mean you are an accountant? If you have a ruler, pencil and have watched some episodes of Grand Designs – does that make you an architect? If you post regularly to your friends on Facebook and Instagram – does that mean you are a social media expert? So why do small businesses believe that by buying a Mac and some software they will become a designer, marketer and communications expert? It needs to be led by a strategic marketer who can then develop an integrated marketing approach. Can you or your co-worker do this? In some cases, you can. But those who can are most likely to either come from marketing or consulting backgrounds where they have transferable skills and experience defining AND delivering against a growth strategy. If you are a small business, you need somebody who will have a very solid, process, streamlined, consistent, repeatable approach. First, they will research and learn about your company in great depth, the dynamics of the marketplace and identify shifts, trends, and changes. From there, the strategic marketer will be able to present the different elements of your marketing plan in logical order of how you should construct them, update them, or revise them; and identify the key areas you should be focusing on – be it generating leads, converting leads, increasing transactions right down to changing prices.3. They hire the wrong marketing helpThere is a huge misunderstanding around marketing strategy, marketing tactics, and marketing execution. There is a difference between being strategically capable, creatively capable and executionally capable.Small business owners don’t hire a strategic marketing coach/firm to develop creative graphics and headers; nor should you hire an advertising/graphic design agency to handle marketing strategy. A small business doesn’t need to hire a consultant or a firm who is a strong marketing executor when their biggest need is a strategy for sustainable growth. You may get more attention, but not the best results.

 102.
Approaching the purchase of a new car can be both an exciting and a daunting experience. The thrill of considering a new vehicle in which to commute, run errands, and simply let loose on the road of life can bring a lot of positive images and ideas to mind, but the high costs of automobiles means that there are typically financing considerations to be made before a new car or truck can be driven off the lot. A number of options exist for the modern car buyer, whether the object of sale is a new or used vehicle, is associated with a special period or type, or has any number of esoteric attributes when it comes to seeking financing. Frequently, car buyers may choose to work with the sellers themselves or with dealerships to arrive at a workable financing solution, but this is not always the best choice. Consulting with a vehicle finance broker is an excellent way to ensure that the maximum value is obtained with a minimum of hassle and needless expense.Vehicle finance brokers are fairly unique among sources for financing as they work independently, and are not answering to the policies or procedures of parent companies or associations. This often translates to increased value and greater attention to taking care of each client’s individual needs; if you’re concerned about being treated like just another customer in a long line of financing seekers, working with a vehicle finance broker may be an excellent option. The personal service afforded by a vehicle finance broker is matched by such a broker’s ability to reach far beyond the boundaries of other financing sources. Brokers must obtain extensive training to meet local professional requirements, and arrange their deals through making new contacts and arrangements with lenders. This process demands an extraordinary level of skill in negotiation and the ability to identify or create a great deal, attributes which a vehicle finance broker can in turn bestow upon a client.Choosing a vehicle finance broker is a wise move when buying a new car, whether the expense is significant or will only require a short-term commitment. Vehicle finance brokers are extremely knowledgeable about their field, and can help clients understand the particulars of a given arrangement, from the terms of a loan to the specific way in which an arrangement will benefit a client’s tax profile. This personalized and distinctive service is one which can make the car purchasing experience much more pleasant, and can yield quick and efficient progress towards getting a new vehicle out of a lot -and into all the gears of your life. With a professional vehicle finance broker on your side, you can say goodbye to confusing repayment terms, anxiety over scams or bad deals, and generic, cold service. Experience the difference that a dedicated professional can make and consider using a car finance broker for your next car purchase.

 120.
These days, you will find that skiers on ski slopes around the world wear ski goggles as protection from the glare and from flying objects that could cause serious injury to the eyes. Many of these ski goggles are made in fashionable designs and trendy colors by manufacturers for skiers to use for both enjoyment and to protect the eyes of people competing in ski competitions. Overall, the key reason for people who wear this type of equipment is to basically protect the eyes from injury and other possible harm.In high speed sports there are also motorcyclists, racing car drivers, drag racers and stock car drivers who also routinely wear safety goggles to ensure their eyes are protected from injury during regular use and while driving in competitive racing. This same situation is evident in horse racing where jockeys wear safety goggles to protect their eyes from flying turf and dirt while riding in races and during routine training and track-work.There are also many other sports where sports people wear safety eyewear and sports goggles to protect the eyes from being damaged in hard-ball type sports such as baseball, hockey and cricket to name just a few. In these sports where the ball can travel at high speed through the air, wearing modern eyewear with frames made of sturdy polycarbonate with lightweight shatter-resistant lenses can be a good choice for most sportspeople. In situations where a sportsperson is required to wear regular glasses because of an eye condition, it may be necessary for you wear prescription safety glasses as a protective measure. In such situations you will need to consult an optician so your sports safety eyewear is fitted with durable lenses and frames.Because of the wide variety of different sports goggles available on the market looking online to find a suitable pair for your particular sport can be a good option. By comparing designs and costs will give you some idea if you decide to buy at a specialty sport store that sells safety sport goggles. If safety eyewear is required for hunting activities it can be a good idea to secure a cord to the side frames to go around the back of the head. By fitting a cord you will be able to avoid having your eyewear accidentally knocked off your head in the darkness by the branch of a tree or some other object.

 138.
One of the key differences between conventional skin care and natural or organic skin care is not the “active” ingredients such as green tea or vitamin c, which excluding water may make up to about 5% of any product, rather it lies with the base ingredients. In natural skin care, the base ingredients are often a mix of vegetable oils and butters or waxes in contrast to the synthetic ingredients often found in conventional skin care. The use of base oils has enormous benefit for the skin. Instead of being an inert (non-active) synthetic carrier for the active ingredients, base oils contain nutrients such as vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids that support and nourish the skin. I would go so far as to count base oils as active ingredients in skin care. So, in fact, in natural products up to 95% of any product has a supportive “active” effect on the skin. In comparison, the synthetic base ingredients in conventional skin care by enlarge, lack significant therapeutic benefit. There are many factors that affect the absorption of topical ingredients into the skin and in reality, many topical creams just sit on the surface of the skin, effectively plumping the superficial skin cells but rarely having any effect on deeper layers. The skin is designed to be selectively absorbent, being relatively permeable to fat soluble substances and relatively impermeable to water and water soluble substances. Fat soluble ingredients such as oils are absorbed more effectively and have greater effect on the cell membrane and skin matrix, supporting skin nourishment. As carriers, oils can also transport essential oils, phytonutrients, vitamins and minerals into the skin where they are most effective, rather than just having a “surface” effect. In addition, oils also help prevent skin dehydration by providing an effective water loss barrier which in turn leads to plumper, more hydrated skin.Oil absorption is influenced by the viscosity or thickness of the individual carrier oil with thicker oils tending to be absorbed more slowly through the skin. Generally fine light oils are preferable for use on the face as they absorb quickly, easily penetrating the surface layer of skin without leaving a greasy feel. Heavier oils are suitable for dry facial skin, skin on the body, as bath oils and massage oils. The degree of unsaturation will also impact on oil absorption. In general, the more polyunsaturated fat content of the oil, the better the absorption. For example Rose Hip oil is high in polyunsaturates and has quite low viscosity, making it ideal for use in face serums and creams as it absorbs quickly into the skin.It is worth noting that cold-pressed oils tend to have a greater degree of unsaturates than heat-extracted oils and for this reason are preferable. The process of cold-pressing involves the nut or seed being placed in an “expeller” which squeezes the oil out. There is some heat created by friction however, it causes little damage to the oil or its constituents. Heat-extraction uses temperatures up to 200 degrees Celsius which dramatically increases the yield of oil, making it far more cost effective but at the same time damaging the nutrient content of the oil. Unsaturated fatty acids are easily damaged by high temperatures and so heat-extracted oils will have significantly lower levels. While these oils are commonly used as cooking oils, they should be avoided for use in skin care and aromatherapy as they lack the therapeutic benefits of the cold-pressed versions.A common misconception when it comes to the use of oils is that applying them to the skin will only worsen oily skin and further create congestion. Heavier oils may sit on the surface of the skin longer before absorption, which is not ideal for already oily skin. However, the lighter, less viscous oils will be absorbed quite quickly and in many cases help to balance skin oiliness rather than contribute to it.Oils are effectively absorbed into the skin rather than sitting on the surface layer and therefore they are unlikely to cause or worsen congestion. However, many natural skin care products rely on waxes and butters as base ingredients. While enormously beneficial for the skin, they are more likely to sit on the surface and therefore have a greater likelihood of contributing if congestion is already an issue. They are unlikely to cause congestion that wasn’t previously present and the skin response really does depend on individual skin type. The percentage of waxes to butters to oils will vary in different products for different skin types. If you are unsure about what product to use for your skin type, it is worth asking the manufacturer or supplier which of their particular products will be most beneficial for your skin type. There a quite a number of nourishing carrier oils used in both skin moisturizers and serums and the range of natural products available that using nutritional base oils is ever increasing. Different oils are suitable for different skin types so knowing some basic facts about base oils will help you find the most suitable product for your skin.Sweet Almond Oil – A common used oil in skin care, it is rich in nutrition including vitamin E, unsaturated fats and essential fatty acids. It has a softening action on the skin and is useful for lubrication in massage because while not a heavy oil, it is not absorbed rapidly.Olive Oil – A heavier oil, rich in monounsaturates including oleic acid. Extra virgin olive oil come from the first pressing of the olives and is dark green in color indicating the presence of antioxidant polyphenol. It is suitable for use with dry skin as it helps stabilize the cell membrane increasing the skins ability to hold onto moisture. Olive oil also contains squalene, a hydrating and anti-inflammatory agent, ideal for skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema.Tamanu Oil – Tamanu oil has powerful healing properties in its unique ability to promote the formation of new skin tissue. Traditionally used by the Polynesians as first aid for the skin and mucous membranes, the oil can assist with scars, burns, skin cracks, cuts, dry skin and wounds. Used cosmetically, Tamanu has healing, mild antibiotic and anti-inflammatory activity 2. For these reasons it is used in both protective and regenerative products aimed at restoring skin appearance.Evening Primrose Oil – Evening Primrose Oil (EPO) is a valuable source of gamma linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid with potent anti-inflammatory effects. Useful for dry, damaged, sensitive skin EPO helps to maintain the skin’s normal barrier functions. It is also useful topically for eczema and psoriasis.Rosehip Oil – With up to 80% essential fatty acid content, Rosehip oil is very fine and quite easily absorbed by the skin. Rosehip encourages regeneration and repair of the skin and is renowned for its skin benefits, particularly in the treatment of scars and burns. It is also known for its rehydrating effect as well as improving dry, aged and wrinkled skin.Jojoba Oil – Actually a fine wax rather than an oil, Jojoba oil is very fine in consistency and readily absorbed by the skin. It is light and non-greasy and for this reason it is ideal in face serums and creams. Jojoba closely resembles the sebum of the skin and so is beneficial for skin and scalp problems such as psoriasis and eczema. 156.
Another great part of experiencing classic English country towns is going out and traveling and touring through Bude, Cornwall. Sitting on the very topside at the mouth of the Cornwall peninsula, the seaside resort of Bude is a small, quaint town of approximately 9,000 people. It started its life as a harbor town, naturally enough, only later changing to the role it now plays today in Cornwall’s tourist industry.Bude has an interesting history, which included its popular use as a source of sea sand that was collected and then used to stabilize and improve various English moors. In the Victorian Era, it became a well-known stopover, and then a seaside holiday destination for most of the 20th century. The coastal scenery in the Bude area is impressive, indeed. In the 1800s, it was well-known to mariners, who were advised to steer well-clear of it treacherous reefs, which were responsible for causing the foundering of many ships. Geologically, there are cliffs in the region that are estimated to be at least 300 million years old.Bude today, is an attractive town which boasts two wide, sandy beaches that lie close to the town itself. Because of the direction in which the beaches lay (to the west) Atlantic ocean wave action is vigorous enough to attract surfers, which is a site one wouldn’t normally see in an English coastal town.Examples of early English architecture exist in and around the town, with a prime example being that of Saint Olaf’s parish church. Tourism is the main industry nowadays, with Bude Canal and its wharf being an attractive picture-taking opportunity.Cornwall itself is a notable peninsula and county of England in the United Kingdom. It has a population of around 530,000 people, and is one of the six original Celtic nations, which reach back into antiquity. Bude and the surrounding area are sure to please the desire of any tourist for picturesque seaside villages in the English countryside.

 174.
When you need quick cash, what could be more convenient than taking out a same-day payday loan that is deposited directly into your bank account? On your next payday – a week or two later – the loan is automatically repaid because the creditor has your bank information. Sure, there is a fee, but there’s no credit check, no collateral, and no lengthy application process like there is for a personal loan. You just walk into the payday loan office or go online, fill out a few forms proving that you have a steady job and a checking account, and you get up to $2,000 the same day.It sounds easy, but it may not be such a good deal. Payday loans are defined as short-term loans with an interest rate above 36%. That sounds like a high rate, doesn’t it? After all, you see new car loans advertised for zero percent, and home mortgages for 6%. Personal loans from banks are generally between 10% and 15%. Even credit card cash advances can be cheaper. A $300 cash advance on the average credit card, repaid in one month, would incur a finance charge of $13.99 at an APR of 57%.To make it sound less expensive, payday loan providers don’t advertise their annual percentage rate (APR) the same way credit card and personal loan providers do. They state the interest in terms of a fee per $100 loaned. Here’s a typical example. How the Fee Translates to APR You walk into the payday loan office or apply online. You need to borrow $500 until your next payday, which is in seven days. The fee for your loan is $15 per $100 borrowed. You think, “That’s not so bad, it’s 15%, isn’t it”? You agree to the loan terms and you give the lender a check in the amount of $575, dated in seven days. When your loan is due to be repaid in seven days the creditor will cash the check or debit your checking account. If you have $575 in your account, then you are finished and the transaction is completed. You will have paid $75 for your loan. That translates into an annual percentage rate (APR) of 780%. It’s very high, but that’s because calculating the APR is complex and involves not only the loan amount and the fee, but the period of the loan-how long until you pay it back. The big danger is that many customers can’t pay back the loan on time. Think about it – a customer who does not have $500 in his or her bank account this week is unlikely to have $575 in their account next week. Many customers “roll over” their loans. They cannot pay on the due date, so the creditor charges the $75 fee and agrees to collect on the next payday. Are You the Average Payday Loan Customer?According to the Consumer Federation of America, from a single lender each year the average payday loan customer takes eight to thirteen payday loans or loan renewals. So if you are the average customer, let’s say you roll over or renew your $500 loan 10 times in one year. To borrow $500 for 10 weeks, you will pay a total of $750 in finance charges plus repay the amount borrowed. Your $500 payday loan will end up costing you $1,250.There are additional risks and fees. To get a payday loan you are required to give the creditor a personal check as repayment. If your check bounces, your bank will charge you a fee – often as high as $40. You can lose your bank account or have difficulty opening a new bank account if you develop a record of bouncing checks used to get payday loans. Before you take out a payday loan, carefully consider the real cost – and ask yourself if it’s worth it.

 192.
You can enjoy the benefits of gardening without having a green thumb or being an expert. Even beginners can quickly appreciate the satisfaction of watching something that you planted grow into a healthy plant. This article will look at some of the well-known benefits of gardening as well as some that aren’t quite as well known. If you do not yet have a garden you might think about starting one because the exercise you will get is highly beneficial in many ways. You can, for example, lower your risk of osteoporosis. A condition prevalent among the older female population, osteoporosis is when bones become brittle and weak. Despite the fact that there are lots of exercises useful for improving your chances of prevention, gardening seems to be among the best because of the various types of exercise involved covering everything from flexibility, strength and aerobics due to the physical tasks you have to undertake. Symptom alleviation in the case of diabetes is another issue gardening is useful for. Eating a healthy diet, just like regular exercise, is vital to managing and preventing diabetes, which is much easier to do when you grow your own vegetables. You can use your imagination and garden in any way you would like. Certain gardens represent an image of ingenuity. When you go on the internet or check out a book on gardens; you will see some spectacular gardens. While you may not be able to match the appearance of a garden featured in a book or magazine, you can still plan it out and make it your pet project. How you arrange your garden could be what will make your experience successful or fail, along with the design you choose. As you gain experience, you’ll find that your ability to plan and design your garden becomes more sophisticated.Rebuilding your relationship with nature is a vital advantage of gardening. This is something that wasn’t an issue a hundred or more years ago, but it certainly is today. Many of us spend most of our time either at an office, or in front of some electronic device. Fresh air and plenty of sunshine are what you will enjoy when you take up the simple and natural hobby of gardening. Once you start gardening you will begin to discover the advantages to these two things, even if you never knew you missed them. As little as a few hours per week spent in your garden will help you become more grounded and improve your connection to nature, thanks to quality time spent outside.Gardening in a group setting, especially when it involves your entire community, is very worthwhile and beneficial. Whether you are dealing with a cooperative project that everyone works on or if you start a community garden, this can contribute to many people. This provides a sociable atmosphere that everyone can enjoy. Gardening is so much more fun when you do this with people with the same frame of mind and have goals similar to yours. You may have questions about gardening that more experienced gardeners can answer. The community can trade what they grow with one another. There’s something inherently social about gardening that brings people with the same interest together. You’ve probably come to see that there is much more to the benefits of gardening than you previously thought. The advantages themselves will be impacted by the sort of garden you have. For example, a vegetable or herb garden will give you benefits you can taste, whereas flowers are more for appearance. Yet no matter what kind of garden you have, there are some undeniable benefits that make this one of the most worthwhile activities you can practice.

 212. Treasury yields have pulled back after touching new highs, which served as an additional positive catalyst for S&P 500.
213. A move above 3730 will push S&P 500 towards the resistance level at 3760.
215.
Pfizer Rallies After Announcing A Huge Price Hike For Its COVID-19 Vaccines
216. S&P 500 is currently trying to settle above 3730 as traders’ appetite for risk is growing. The U.S. dollar has recently gained strong downside momentum as the BoJ intervened to stop the rally in USD/JPY. Weaker U.S. dollar is bullish for stocks as it increases profits of multinational companies and makes U.S. equities cheaper for foreign investors.

 217.
The leading oil services company Schlumberger is up by 9% after beating analyst estimates on both earnings and revenue. Schlumberger’s peers Baker Hughes and Halliburton have also enjoyed strong support today.

 218.
Vaccine makers Pfizer and Moderna gained strong upside momentum after Pfizer announced that it will raise the price of its coronavirus vaccine to $110 – $130 per shot.

 219.
Biggest losers today include Verizon and Twitter. Verizon is down by 5% despite beating analyst estimates on both earnings and revenue. Subscriber numbers missed estimates, and traders pushed the stock to multi-year lows.

 220.
Twitter stock moved towards the $50 level as the U.S. may conduct a security review of Musk’s purchase of the company.

 221.
From a big picture point of view, today’s rebound is broad, and most market segments are moving higher. Treasury yields have started to move lower after testing new highs, providing additional support to S&P 500. It looks that some traders are ready to bet that Fed will be less hawkish than previously expected.

 222.
S&P 500 Tests Resistance At 3730

 223.
S&P 500 has recently managed to get above the 20 EMA and is trying to settle above the resistance at 3730. RSI is in the moderate territory, and there is plenty of room to gain additional upside momentum in case the right catalysts emerge.

 224.
If S&P 500 manages to settle above 3730, it will head towards the next resistance level at 3760. A successful test of this level will push S&P 500 towards the next resistance at October highs at 3805. The 50 EMA is located in the nearby, so S&P 500 will likely face strong resistance above the 3800 level.

 225.
On the support side, the previous resistance at 3700 will likely serve as the first support level for S&P 500. In case S&P 500 declines below this level, it will move towards the next support level at 3675. A move below 3675 will push S&P 500 towards the support at 3640.

 244. SPDN is not the largest or oldest way to short the S&P 500, but it’s a solid choice.
245. This ETF uses a variety of financial instruments to target a return opposite that of the S&P 500 Index.
246. SPDN’s 0.49% Expense Ratio is nearly half that of the larger, longer-tenured -1x Inverse S&P 500 ETF.
247. Details aside, the potential continuation of the equity bear market makes single-inverse ETFs an investment segment investor should be familiar with.
248. We rate SPDN a Strong Buy because we believe the risks of a continued bear market greatly outweigh the possibility of a quick return to a bull market.
252.
Summary
253. The S&P 500 is in a bear market, and we don’t see a quick-fix. Many investors assume the only way to navigate a potentially long-term bear market is to hide in cash, day-trade or “just hang in there” while the bear takes their retirement nest egg.

 254.
The Direxion Daily S&P 500® Bear 1X ETF (NYSEARCA:SPDN) is one of a class of single-inverse ETFs that allow investors to profit from down moves in the stock market.

 255.
SPDN is an unleveraged, liquid, low-cost way to either try to hedge an equity portfolio, profit from a decline in the S&P 500, or both. We rate it a Strong Buy, given our concern about the intermediate-term outlook for the global equity market.

 256.
Strategy
257. SPDN keeps it simple. If the S&P 500 goes up by X%, it should go down by X%. The opposite is also expected.

 258.
Proprietary ETF Grades
259. Offense/Defense: Defense

 260.
Segment: Inverse Equity

 261.
Sub-Segment: Inverse S&P 500

 262.
Correlation (vs. S&P 500): Very High (inverse)

 263.
Expected Volatility (vs. S&P 500): Similar (but opposite)

 264.
Holding Analysis
265. SPDN does not rely on shorting individual stocks in the S&P 500. Instead, the managers typically use a combination of futures, swaps and other derivative instruments to create a portfolio that consistently aims to deliver the opposite of what the S&P 500 does.

 266.
Strengths
267. SPDN is a fairly “no-frills” way to do what many investors probably wished they could do during the first 9 months of 2022 and in past bear markets: find something that goes up when the “market” goes down. After all, bonds are not the answer they used to be, commodities like gold have, shall we say, lost their luster. And moving to cash creates the issue of making two correct timing decisions, when to get in and when to get out. SPDN and its single-inverse ETF brethren offer a liquid tool to use in a variety of ways, depending on what a particular investor wants to achieve.

 268.
Weaknesses
269. The weakness of any inverse ETF is that it does the opposite of what the market does, when the market goes up. So, even in bear markets when the broader market trend is down, sharp bear market rallies (or any rallies for that matter) in the S&P 500 will cause SPDN to drop as much as the market goes up.

 270.
Opportunities
271. While inverse ETFs have a reputation in some circles as nothing more than day-trading vehicles, our own experience with them is, pardon the pun, exactly the opposite! We encourage investors to try to better-understand single inverse ETFs like SPDN. While traders tend to gravitate to leveraged inverse ETFs (which actually are day-trading tools), we believe that in an extended bear market, SPDN and its ilk could be a game-saver for many portfolios.

 272.
Threats
273. SPDN and most other single inverse ETFs are vulnerable to a sustained rise in the price of the index it aims to deliver the inverse of. But that threat of loss in a rising market means that when an investor considers SPDN, they should also have a game plan for how and when they will deploy this unique portfolio weapon.

 274.
Proprietary Technical Ratings
275. Short-Term Rating (next 3 months): Strong Buy

 276.
Long-Term Rating (next 12 months): Buy

 277.
Conclusions
278. ETF Quality Opinion
279. SPDN does what it aims to do, and has done so for over 6 years now. For a while, it was largely-ignored, given the existence of a similar ETF that has been around much longer. But the more tenured SPDN has become, the more attractive it looks as an alternative.

 280.
ETF Investment Opinion

 281.
SPDN is rated Strong Buy because the S&P 500 continues to look as vulnerable to further decline. And, while the market bottomed in mid-June, rallied, then waffled since that time, our proprietary macro market indicators all point to much greater risk of a major decline from this level than a fast return to bull market glory. Thus, SPDN is at best a way to exploit and attack the bear, and at worst a hedge on an otherwise equity-laden portfolio.
