I am a former Canadian journalist and five-time author. I truly appreciate the effort (and sometimes agony) that goes into writing a full-length book. Any author will tell you that it is akin to giving birth to a new entity - an extension of self. I hope your work will move me, change me, give me pause for thought, take me on a wonderful journey or otherwise impress me in some way.

Murder on the Naval Base offers Chilling Tale of Jealousy & Revenge

By Behcet Kaya
Published by Book Baby
Copyright @ 2011
ASBN: B006MIJ8B6

This novel is the second work of fiction by Behcet Kaya that I have had the pleasure of reviewing and it is easy to see that this author has improved greatly, both in character development, plot, word usage and overall writing skills.

In Murder on the Naval Base, he offers up an intriguing tale of jealousy and revenge. The story follows the life and career of Lieutenant Anderson Garrett Belguzar, who learns that his wife of only a few years is having an affair with his best friend and a fellow officer.

"The heavy double doors of the Murat Officers' Club flew open... A solitary khaki-clad figure wearing tan combat boots, dark sunglasses, and a cap slung low over the face entered the lobby with a Beretta clutched in one hand."

By the time it's all over, "The dead officer lay on his right side with both hands balled up into tight fists. His eyes were wide open and took on the appearance of terror, as if he had been aware of his own death. The woman's body tilted to the side, as if suspended in mid-air. Her French-manicured fingernails were bloodied, and even more red liquid ran down her legs, pooling below her chair."

Kaya takes the reader along as he is arrested, charged and faces a jury for the execution-style murder of both of them in military court. As the defense and prosecution each present their cases, it seems that Belguzar is headed to jail for a very long time.

This wonderfully written work also offers insights into military life and the fast-paced world of Navy pilots of F-18 Hornets. It also includes some hot and steamy sexual liaisons, making this work a captivating read.

But did Belguzar really commit the heinous act of murdering his wife and best friend? Well, you'll have to read this murder mystery to find out.

Murder on the Naval Base is available as an ebook for Kindle, Nook, Apple i-tunes and Sony Reader on Amazon.com HERE.

For more on this book, go HERE.

To learn more about this author go HERE.

Previous novel: Voice of Conscience.

Visit the #1 Boomer's Writing Site http://www.boomers-write.com

House of Darkness – House of Light

The True Story, Volume 1

By Andrea Perron
Published by Author House
Copyright 2011
ISBN: 978-1-4567-4761-9

Having lived in a few haunted locations, it is not much of a stretch to imagine a house brimming with spirits – more particularly a colonial farmhouse built in 1736.

Roger and Carolyn Perron, along with their five young daughters thought they discovered their own Garden of Eden when they moved from the Cumberland, Rhode Island suburbs to a remote and natural area in Harrisville. They were excited to live in a fascinating old farmhouse with plenty of room for everyone.

The oldest child, Andrea Perron is the author of this book, which relates the family’s entirely unexpected and truly frightening experiences in a house with a long history of agony and death. Two former residents hung themselves - one from the rafters of the old barn. The final fate of many others is unknown but their continued presence eventually becomes obvious.

Andrea relates how the massive property provides an unbounded playground for the children within the woods and crystal clear ambling streams. However, what begins as a paradise for the Perron family quickly transforms into a house of horrors as specters of formerly living souls roam the old house causing havoc.

There are benign acts, such as a ghost that smells of flowers and fruit kissing the children goodnight in their beds, and a phantom youngster playing with unattended toys. Items move about, including chairs pulled from beneath innocent and unsuspecting mortals, and a female ghost who constantly picks up a broom to sweep the kitchen floor - benign but frightening, nonetheless. Doors slam shut, whispers are heard, shadows are seen and something has a habit of slamming into the front door in the middle of the night shaking everyone from their beds.

When the malevolent spirit of the former mistress of the house begins to assert her control over Carolyn the constant barrage of paranormal activity from the other side becomes too much to bear. This repugnant spirit seems bent and determined on frightening Carolyn to her very core, approaching her in the night – her face misshapen, neck broken and horrible to behold - along with a gut wrenching stench in the air and threats of impending doom – primarily that she and her family would succumb to a vicious and unrelenting fiery death.

Carolyn is left in a perpetual state of fear and shock as to how she could possibly protect her brood from the wiles of a nasty ghost over which she has absolutely no control.

This is truly a book to be read with the lights on. Add to that Andrea Perron’s wonderfully expressive writing and you will find yourself turning one page after another while she takes you through time in a profound and thought provoking way.

To pick up a copy of House of Darkness – House of Light, The True Story, Volume 1, go HERE

Video: House of Darkness House of Light

Visit the #1 Boomer's Writing Site http://www.boomers-write.com

The Secret School - Preparation For Contact

By Whitley Strieber
Published by Harper Collins Publishers
Harper Paperbacks
Copyright 1997
ISBN: 0-06-109618-0
Pages: 268

Whitley Strieber is well known in UFO circles as the man who reported an alien abduction from his upstate New York cabin in December, 1985 in his book Communion (1987).

In The Secret School – Preparation For Contact, he attempts to explain some unusual events that occurred when he was 9 years old. It is an odd tale of a youngster that takes off on his bicycle at night to attend a secret school in the Olmos basin in the woods of San Antonio, Texas near his home. He says that author and reporter, Ed Conroy confirmed his claim by finding others in the area, who also went to the basin in the middle of the night.

Overall, this book seems to be a mixture of odd memories and possibly even stranger facts about a school where he and other children were taught different lessons by what he perceived as the Sisters of Mercy. Those lessons involved such viewing the universe through a neighbor’s telescope, in the woods with other children wearing some type of helmet to see a comet striking Earth in ancient times and traveling in time.

“Many witnesses besides myself have written me about helmets being put on their heads,” he writes. “Often, the helmets leave painful marks on their temples, usually triangular in shape. If you wanted to project images into a human brain, the temples, close to the temporal lobes, would be the place to do it.”

He adds that this type of technology was not even known back in 1954.

Strieber also relates how he ran into himself one day as an older man.

“I would swear that this happened, on pain of death,” he writes.

Despite the author’s seeming confirmations of events that occurred when he was a young boy, one is left with the impression that much of what he relates might be the remnants of dreams mixed with a youngsters imagination. However, The Secret School is still a most intriguing book that will capture your imagination as well.

To pick up your copy, go HERE.

Some of Strieber’s Other Books:

The Key: A True Encounter (2011)

Hybrids (2011)

2012: The War for Souls (2008)

The Grays (2007)

Confirmation: The Hard Evidence of Aliens Among Us (1998)

Breakthrough: The Next Step (1995)

Majestic (1989)

Transformation: The Breakthrough (1987)

Communion (1987)

Visit the #1 Boomer's Writing Site http://www.boomers-write.com

Book Review: Prayer Never Fails - Especially During Trials

<img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; Dorton
Published by Wasteland Press
Copyright 2011
ISBN: 978-1-60047-534-4
Pages: 170

When Berney Dorton first contacted me, I assumed I was communicating with a male. However, when I received the book in the mail, it was clear that the author was a woman – and a dedicated, God-fearing one at that!

In her book, Dorton clarifies what it means to pray with fervor, and purity of body and spirit, so what you ask of God will be heard. But she makes it clear that being heard does not mean you always get what you want.

“If God answered every petition favorably, would we exclusively serve God?” she writes. “Absolutely not!”

She added that people tend to become ungrateful when they get everything they want.

“It’s impractical to think that God owes us anything; He blesses us because of His abundant mercy and grace.”

Dorton also expounds on the importance of Christians being ‘prayer warriors,” to help others. Using an example from her own life, she noted how she was asked as a nurse to pray for a man who was ill.

“My patient was sincere in his request but at that very moment, I hesitated to respond.”

She had backslid, forgotten to pray and doubted if God would even hear her prayer. She then got back on track and intercedes in prayer for others.

“To prevail in intercessory prayer, one must not be fearful but rather fearless,” she writes. “You must have a personal relationship with God and a heart for people’s problems and well-being.”

The author also impresses upon the reader the importance of praying both in good times and in bad. Relating her own struggles due to personal losses in her life and caring for a sick child, she notes that prayer and praise must not be set aside. During difficult times, they become even more important to help you survive the unanticipated trials of life.

Prayer Never Fails - Especially During Trials is not only an uplifting book but one that will teach you how to pray effectively, what to expect and why – a must-have for anyone who wishes to draw nearer to God.

To view a video on this book go HERE.

To pick up a copy of this book go HERE.

Author Profile

Author's Web Site

Visit the #1 Boomer's Writing Site http://www.boomers-write.com

Change in Review Price

Due to the many request I receive for book reviews and the time it takes to read and write reviews, I have raised my rate to $35. I spent – as I recently learned from my daughter – five days in a coma (for some reason, I previously thought it was only three) and I believe that every moment of those precious days was spent in heaven.

In 90 Minutes in Heaven, author Don Piper relates an accident that sent him to heaven for an hour and a half. A Baptist minister, he recalls an accident he had while driving his red 1986 Ford Escort. He had just left a Baptist General Convention in Texas in 1989.

Driving in a steady rain at about 50 miles per hour on a two-lane highway out of Trinity Pines and across to Lake Livingston, he reaches a bridge over the Trinity River. That’s when an 18-wheeler “driven by an inmate from the Texas Department of Corrections” crosses the road’s center line and slams head-long into his car.

Piper then shares his time in heaven during which he met a throng of people just outside of heaven’s gates that he says he “intuitively knew were my celestial welcoming committee.” He recognizes his grandfather with whom he had a joyful reunion, a childhood friend and others. He also describes what it is like there and how our senses seem to be intensified.

If course following the nearly fatal accident, Piper suffers many months of excruciating pain and during that time, seriously wonders why God sent him back to this Earthly life. He grows more and more depressed until he eventually realizes that God sent him back with a mission to fulfill.

This book, like most others I have read about near death experiences, offers not only a glimpse of life after death but also great hope and faith that there is indeed, “life after death” for those who believe in God. As a believer and having had such an experience, I do not have to be convinced that the soul survives death.

Like Piper, I am no longer afraid to die. We also share a burning desire to return to the joy of heaven but of course, not until God calls us home.

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to strengthen their faith in God and learn more about the reality of life after death.

To learn more about 90 Minutes in Heaven, go HERE. style="font-family:times new roman, times;">Rachel Madorsky’s latest book rests on the premise that everything we experience in life is the result of karma – our own and that of our ancestors. In other words, if your great, great grandfather was a violent man who deliberately set out to hurt people, you could be paying for it.

“Everything that happens to us is a direct result of the actions of our ancestors,” she writes.

As a long-time researcher on the subjects of karma and reincarnation, this is a new theory that I have not encountered before. I was aware of the concept of paying for one’s own karma due to one’s thoughts, words and actions, but not that of others in our particular soul group. A soul group means souls who reincarnate together again and again over many lifetimes. These souls interact with each other while learning their lessons from each particular life.

Madorsky notes a question asked of Jesus about why a person might be blind from birth. In John 9:1-3 He says, “Who did sin. This man or his parents?”

She also backs up her belief in reincarnation by citing specific examples from such religious texts as the Bible, Kabbalah, Koran and Dead Sea Scrolls. She also notes that our karma is recorded in the Akashic Records or a universal archive or library of sorts where all of our deeds – good and bad – are listed.

Even though karma is a “law of nature,” Madorsky says we don’t necessarily have to suffer because of it. Since the universe and everything in it is constantly in motion, she says karma is subject to change but only if we exercise our free will to change it. And we should, she says, because it can have a detrimental affect on our health.

We do not realize that we have “the inborn desire and power to prevent the karma that will come our way,” she says. “It is through our power of choice.”

If we so choose, we can redirect this karma, says Madorsky, by utilizing both physical and spiritual forces. In Maestro, she relates a few experiences she had with clients to help them do this. In her work as a psychic healer, she found that karma could cause specific illnesses.

She claims to access a person’s Akashic Records to find the reason for specific illnesses due to thoughts, words and/or actions in the past that have created harmful karma. The theory is that certain individuals, such as psychics and mediums can find and read the Akashic Records in a subconscious state.

Madorsky then utilizes this information to ‘draw out’ the illnesses within a person’s body with help from the Creator. She does this in such unconventional ways as visualizing what she calls “Quasiworldä” energies and in some cases, entities. Quasiworldä energy is then directed toward the ailing area in order to heal it.

“From the metaphysical point of view, just like the physical world, the Quasiworldä consists of two opposite forces, without which the universe can’t develop. These are positive and negative forces of the same size and influence,” she explains.

Although I do not fully comprehend her methods as a mode of healing, her clients seemed to be most happy with the positive changes to their health. The author also offers some tips on how we can alter our karma through such things as meditation and dreams, which are well worth the read.

For more information on Maestro: Unveiling Karma and Reincarnation go HERE.

To pick up a copy of this book go HERE.

Other books by Rachel Madorsky include:

Symphony of Your Karma – Healing Destiny of Soul

Your Choice: A Healer’s Vision on the Metaphysical Truth Behind Health and Disease

Create Your Own Destiny – Spiritual Path to Success

For more of Madorsky’s books go HERE.

Profile: Rachel Madorsky

Visit the #1 Boomer's Writing Site http://www.boomers-write.com

E-Book Review – Fast Forward: Into The Future

<img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; In this somewhat older work, Colombo presents stories from old newspaper clippings about ghosts and hauntings, as well as more recent tales from across Canada.

One that is particularly interesting is took place in the basement apartment of an old house at 56 Huron Street in Toronto. Two college students had rented the apartment: Flavio Bellis, who was an art student at the time and now curator of the Joseph D. Carrier Art Gallery and John, a photography student at Ryerson College.

Bellis noted that the minute they moved in, they heard “odd noises.” At first they believed it was just the settling sounds of an old house but other incidents made them wonder if they were dealing with something more. There were knocks on their door but no one was there and the thermostat, which was taped to the off position during the summer, would be found on high sending hot air blasting from the furnace.

One night while entertaining friends, a watermelon placed on a table began “to eject its seeds, wildly shooting them into the air! Seeds were zipping across the room and landing everywhere!”

Finally, one of the guests asked whatever was causing this to stop and it did.

The two students had some other startling experiences as well, including a tremendous boom that shook the house but they could find no reason for it, a glowing globe of light that Bellis saw one night and a small tile flying off and window sill across the room. They never could find out who or what was haunting the apartment but they would certainly never forget it.

For many more chilling tales of the paranormal, you can pick up a copy of True Canadian Ghost Stories by John Robert Colombo HERE.

Other Books by This Author:

The Big Book of Canadian Hauntings

Ghost Stories of Canada

Haunted Toronto

Ghost Stories of Ontario

The Little Blue Book of UFOs

(and there are many more if you Goggle this author’s name)

John Robert Colombo Web Site

Visit the #1 Boomer's Writing Site http://www.boomers-write.com

Book Review - The Lonely Walk: You Can't Escape Your Past

Fast Paced Novel is chock full of Imagery & Intrigue

By Jonathan Shaw
Copyright © 2008
Published by Xlibris Corporation
ISBN: Hardcover 978-1-4363-6720-2
ISBN: Softcover 978-1-4363-6719-6
Pages: 185

Normally, I would not pick up a book like The Lonely Walk simply because it is fiction. However, I found myself unable to close this one – caught up in the intrigue and mystery surrounding a man named Jif Kitchen.

This rotund figure of a man originally from England, finds himself dropped into dire circumstances on a man-made island called Frontiera where he is to assume the position of building manager for a somewhat shady company called Lime Inc. that the author suggests is a cover for a business that sells arms and other weapons of destruction.

First he meets Kensuka Kemashi from the Japanese interior ministry but soon finds himself caught in an earthquake, a subsequent tsunami and a run for his life.

The Lonely Walk takes the reader on a hectic ride from past to present, present to past at an almost dizzying pace. People are killed – or so it seems, people are enemies – or so it seems. Events occur – or so it seems, which reminds me of a quote by Oprah Winfrey:

“The best thing about dreams is that fleeting moment, when you are between asleep and awake, when you don't know the difference between reality and fantasy, when for just that one moment you feel with your entire soul that the dream is reality, and it really happened.”

Little more can be said without giving away too much of the storyline. It can be noted that Jif becomes captivated by a young, Japanese girl – Yuzuyu - but their true relationship is also fraught with mystery and like the plot, carefully unravels as the story is told. And perhaps most disturbing, Jif’s world is turned upside down when he believes that a young protégé has been killed due to his own decision to hire him when he might not have been ready to take on the job.

Suffice to say, the reader will be swept away by the diverse cast of characters, the ever-twisting plot and especially the author’s ability with creative and effective word usage that leaves one spellbound. Here is an example that occurred just before a train derailment.

“The Kensuka man clutched the yellow pole tightly, wrapping his arms around it and himself. His face shrank from smiling to bewilderment and disbelief. His mouth was wide open. He kept glancing around, waiting for it to be over.

Jif couldn’t bear to watch. He didn’t want to see himself die. He screwed his eyes shut and clenched his teeth, gripping the seat. He heard the windows breaking and metal tearing. The rocking was jumbling his intestines about. He lost his grip and fell near vertically onto the train wall. His head smacked whatever there was in front of him. He couldn’t breathe under his own weight. He passed out.”

For more information on this amazing first novel by English writer, Jonathan Shaw, go HERE. The author claims throughout our many lifetimes, we lived on some or all of these planets.

Barbara Hand Cow (The Pleiadian Agenda: A New Cosmology for the Age of Light presents the forward. She introduces this book and notes that both she and Quan Yin are emmissaries and former Pleiadians who have returned at this time to guide others to the light consciousness. But what does this mean?

According to Quan Yin, the experiences we all had previously as inhabitants of Venus, Mars and Maldeck have imprinted upon our spirits our present habits, fears, beliefs and more. Our own human evolution that involved not only daily life's joys and sorrows, but also cataclysmic disasters and of course death has left us feeling frightened, vulnerable and powerless in our current physical existence against any outside influences. These can include anything from the church's doctrines, to politics and Mother Nature. We fear most what the future might hold for us.

The truth, Quan Yin says, is that we feel the illusions of separation and duality (right from wrong, male and female, black and white, etc.). The author writes of the "Spirit of All That Is" of which we are each an integral part. Through our spiritial evolution over many, many lifetimes, we come closer to and ultimately reunite with the "Spirit of All That Is" and our higher selves.

How much of what is written by Quan Yin is actual truth is impossible to determine and or verify by the usual methods.(Quan Yin claims all of the information was channeled through her by the god, Ra - a Pleiadian archangel of the light.)It will likely leave you with more questions than answers. Nevertheless, this book is certainly an interesting read.

Take it with a grain of salt and remember that with so many people channeling who knows what today, it is ultimately necessary to be discerning as to what you believe.

To pick up a copy of this book go HERE.

Other works by this author:

The Pleiadian Workbook - Awakening Your Divine Ba

Visit the #1 Boomer's Writing Site http://www.boomers-write.com

Secrets of the Light reveals Levels of Heaven

When I had a near death experience near Hamilton, Ontario in 1998, I underwent a past life review. According to Dannion Brinkley, who wrote Secrets of the Light – Lessons From Heaven (Harper One 2008), he experienced a past life review as well - in fact, he had three of them!.

Brinkley actually traveled to the great beyond three times - once when he was struck by lightening while talking on the phone in 1975, a second time from and near-fatal infection and a third during brain surgery in 1997 – and each time, he underwent a life review that showed his spiritual progress along the way.

However, the most revealing aspect of his heavenly encounters with what he calls 13 Beings of light was that there are actually varying levels of heaven. Brinkley struggled for some time as whether he should reveal this information fearing it might frighten rather than inspire people.

In the book, he recalls looking downward where he saw a “blue-gray place” where lost souls wandered aimlessly – a kind of purgatory for souls who lost their desire for life and/or could not forgive what had been done to them during their lifetime.

Brinkley learned that life is a precious gift and forgiveness – no matter the crime – is vital to accomplish before we die. Otherwise, we will be among the lost in the hereafter.

Secrets of the Light offers a wealth of information on the power of love, choice, belief and prayers as well. He then goes on to relate the seven lesions he learned during his time in heaven. Perhaps the most revealing is that the Beings of light told him: “we are great, powerful, and mighty spiritual beings,” but we do not realize our true value here on Earth.

The first lesson focuses on our ability to show love and compassion, and to offer kindness to others. As human beings, we must strive to make our world a better place.

“As I stated earlier, during my first near-death experience, I was shown that one of the fundamental lessons every soul in human form must learn is how to use our uniqueness to assist in unfolding perfection on the earthly planes,” he notes.

To learn more about the Secrets of the Light, you can pick up a copy of this book HERE. www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0061671762/wwwdannioncom-20

Brinkley is a hospice worker and chairman of the board for Compassion in Action and the Twilight Brigade. It begins with the unfortunate death of Fabian Hightower, a young but reckless fellow who was killed in a motor vehicle accident, along with his friend.

When advised of Fabian’s death, his mother, Alex Hightower, refuses to believe it. She could have sworn that she’d seen him that very night standing in her bedroom. As this riveting tale unfolds, it seems Mrs. Hightower never really knew the son she bore. And to top it off, she had no idea of his true nature.

You see, Fabian has no intention of remaining among the dead and will do anything he can – even possess his own mother – to live again.

Possession is one of those books that keep you turning page after page in eager anticipation of what is to come. I have already read Crossing Over: The Stories Behind the Stories and One Last Time: A Psychic Medium Speaks to Those We’ve Loved and Lost, so the process he uses when giving readings are well known to me. I have also seen him many times on his former television show, Crossing Over.

In this book, Edward reflects on his 20-year career as a psychic medium and presents readings that stand out most in his memory. Some are quite comical as spirits of the deceased vie for his attention during public events – each one trying to get and keep his focus over the others. The end result is often quite humorous as both Edwards and those he’s reading try to keep up with their demands.

Then there are the more serious readings where folks receive much-needed insights into both their deceased loved ones and the after life in general. There are also a couple of instances where Crossing Over staff unexpectedly have deceased relatives showing up during public readings to get their two cents in.

I really enjoyed this book perhaps more so than Edward’s other efforts because he reveals some things about himself in a more personal and intimate way. For instance, I learned for the first time that he did not get along with his father, who was also a heavy drinker and showed little affection toward Edward when he was alive. Yet after his death, Edward finds a way to forgive this man, whom he is sure came to realize the error of his ways once he crossed over to the other side.

“I believe that now, every day, I move forward and will develop a better relationship with my father – maybe not with the same man who was here on Earth but instead, with the energy that was inside that man, that still exists,” Edward wrote.

Overall, this book lets you know that death is not the end and encourages folks to carry on their relationships – good or bad – to continue to work on them and/or foster them after a loved one is no longer physically present.

For more information on John Edward and his book, After Life, go HERE.

Visit the #1 Boomer's Writing Site http://www.boomers-write.com

My Mother: A global tribute to all mothers (Volume 1)

By Dan Verghese
Published by CreateSpace
© March 2010
ISBN-10: 1449963293
ISBN-13: 978-1449963293
Pages: 252

Mothers are perhaps the one person in our lives who care for us and love us unconditionally no matter what we say or do. Unfortunately, four years after my adoption, she was diagnosed with cancer and I became the one to take care of her. However, I loved her so much that her death when I was 19 came as a serious blow. Such is the case with this treatise on the social, political and economic issues facing underdeveloped, developing and developed nations.

Although I’m not thrilled with the title of this book, Maiya offers sound and practical solutions to many of the above-mentioned problems. He notes how most people in underdeveloped countries are simplex thinkers who are primarily concerned with their everyday survival, giving little if any thought to the rest of the world or the betterment of mankind as a whole. Often ruthless dictators lead such nations and could care less about making life better for even their own people.

Developing nations, on the other hand, strive in some ways to improve their social, economic and political systems but still might not have the drive or will to face their problems head on. And finally, the developed countries like the United States not only tackle their own deficiencies but also attempt to help others around the world.

Maiya discusses a multitude of issues from poverty, pollution, illiteracy, health care, child labor, military aid, government bailouts, “greedy” corporations, free trade, labor unions and unemployment, domestic violence, political corruption, terrorism, the death penalty and population control, to drugs, same-sex unions and even the workings of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). As you can tell an exhaustive list of issues are discussed with suggestions on how to handle them.

As well, Maiya relates most of these issues to India and how his homeland is doing with regard to social, political and economic progress. He gives this nation where more than 30 million people live in poverty, low grades on most issues due to “government corruption” and its ineffective multi-party system.

“In a developing country like India, the poverty rate and conditions of people living in poverty are more dismal than in any developed country,” he wrote.
Although India does have universal health care, he notes that even that is not handled properly to help those in need. He even takes a stab at Bollywood and its stars for their lack of concern and inaction with regard to charitable giving.

The only thing Maiya has very few complaints about is the United States and more specifically, President Barack Obama. However, he notes that the U.S. should provide universal health care – “piece by piece” if necessary - to appease health insurance lobbyists, overpaid doctors and the private health care industry in general.

On a worldwide scale, he suggests that the U.S. should re-evaluate its aid to countries led by dictators, and increase political and economic sanctions against those nations that cannot provide even basic human rights for their people.

As for the “stupid terrorists” who seek to frighten others into giving into their demands, Maiya notes: “they can only achieve their goals… by engaging themselves positively in modern society.” He adds: “The extreme ideologies of promoting violence has nothing to do with childhood abuse and trauma as some experts claim but is due to the teachings of hatred to kids about religions and the notion of perceived injustice.”

Throughout the book, Maiya, an Oregon resident who is obviously well educated, proves himself as one of the world’s foremost critical thinkers. It’s a shame, however, that he did not seek a traditional publisher who could have presented his work in a more professional manner. Even the book cover – as you can see – is plain and uninteresting. Hopefully, future editions will give this book the dignity it deserves.

To purchase a copy of this book go HERE.
Visit the #1 Boomer's Writing Site http://www.boomers-write.com

Book Review: Blue Star Fulfilling Prophecy

By Miriam Delicado
Published by Trafford Publishing
© Copyright 2007
ISBN: 978-1-4251-3207-1
Pages: 198

Mariam Delicado was a young woman in her early ‘20s when she experienced her first contact with extraterrestrials.

“In 1988 (in British Columbia) when I was 22 years old, I was riding in a car with three other people – two adults and one child,” she explained. “We thought the lights behind us must be massive truck lights. It ended up being a UFO. I got out and was led to the UFO by these little beings about three and a half to four feet tall, with large black eyes.”

Just outside the alien craft, two tall blond aliens stood waiting for her to come inside. What she learned from them was a startling revelation about the state of our world and our future. She also learned that their vast knowledge of both the past and the future correlate with the Hopi Indians have always known.

That knowledge includes the Hopi story of three worlds, all of which were populated by them but the species did not learn to evolve and grow spiritually. However in the third world, there were a few people who understood the importance of caring for the Earth, did not commit violence toward anyone or anything and abided by the universal law of gratitude.

“It was decided that these people – pure of heart – could be taken from the third world and brought into the fourth. They would be taken from the planet by the Aliens and given safe harbor until the world was cleansed once again and it was time for them to live on the Earth, this time in the fourth world.”

But now the Earth is headed once again for catastophe. She noted that the world is currently undergoing “great change and it is time to prepare. We no longer have the luxury of time on our side. We have affected the Earth in such a negative way that she has begun to shake us off.”

We see this affect in our environment, our weather, floods, droughts, tornadoes, earthquakes, and more, she said.

“The signs that the end is near have begun to be see and recognized: climate change, world unrest, complete disregard for fellow man and disconnect from the Earth itself.”

In her book she noted: “One day, a star will appear in the sky for all of man to see. Nothing or no one will be able to hide its presence from the world. It will be a sign for the people that the end is near and it is time to prepare.”

What she learned from her star visitors is almost identical to what the Natives of North America have always known. She wrote on her web site: “The tall blond aliens spoke in a language I had never heard before and 16 years after my encounter in 1988, I learned this language was that of the Hopi Indian in the southwestern USA. This also led me to learn that some of the other languages these beings spoke were Navajo and Mayan.”

The first night I began reading this book, I got to a part where she talked about “clones” that she kept running into contact with. In each case, “they had the same hair, glasses, skin tone and beige pants. They also carried identical black backpacks.”

I gotta say, that really freaked me out. However as I read further the next day, I realized that these “clones” were simply keeping track of her to ensure her safety because she was told by the aliens that she must get their message out to the world.

I also learned the truth about the MJ12, where reverse engineering of alien technology is done, how the Russian Psychic Army hounds those with psychic ability who have had alien contact, how the U.S. government is involved, where the U.S. military has secret underground bases and much more.

Blue Star Fulfilling Prophecy will completely change your view of what is going on in our world. The book lifts the veil of secrecy surrounding UFOs and aliens, and is a must-read for those interested in surviving the coming catastrophic events.

For more on Miriam Delicado’s life and purpose as set out by the aliens, please visit my Examiner.com page.

Visit the #1 Boomer's Writing Site http://www.boomers-write.com

Ghosts: An Investigation into a True Canadian Haunting

By Richard Palmisano
Copyright © 2009
Published by Dundurn Press
ISBN: 978-1-55488-435-3

It’s more than a little interesting for me to read about an actual ghost hunting investigation, but even more so in this case because the massive mansion is not far from where I live. I’m in Hamilton and the old house overlooking Lake Ontario is in Mississauga, Ontario and I’m sure I’ve passed by it many times in the past without knowing about its haunted history.

Currently called Fusion, the mansion is currently owned by the City of Mississauga and is considered to be of historical interest. Most recently, Ontario Hydro used the mansion as a test site. Before that, however, it was a private home that included servant’s quarters.

The total land area covers 48 acres and was lived on by the Ojibwa Indians who hunted and fished there from the 1700’s to the late 1800’s. The site was purchased in 1937 by Charles Powell Bell, a prominent and well to do defense attorney. Bell had the mansion and nearby buildings, including a coach house built for his family. As fate would have it, he died three months later at the age of 30 and the site was then sold to artist James Gairdner.

The city had actually asked The Searcher Group to investigate the property after a number of paranormal events were reported at the site by the groundskeepers and security personnel. One of the groundskeepers was cleaning up the back yard when he saw a black figure.

“At first I thought it was a person; it looked like a person except it was all black like a shadow,” he said. “It had a head and shoulders, arms and legs, but there were no features. It approached me and directly behind it was another one. It didn’t have eyes but I could feel it looking at me. I turned and ran for the truck.”

Another groundskeeper saw the spirits of a man and woman in wedding attire on the back of the property near the lake, while security personnel were often called after alarms were triggered but there was never anyone there.

During the group’s three-year investigation, they recorded countless EVPs of various people who once resided on the property. What is really interesting, however, is that the spirits, particularly those inside the mansion, coach house and adjoining farm spoke not only to the investigators but also to each other. What is even more disturbing is that the ghosts were completely aware that the investigation was occurring and often reacted to it as evidenced by the EVPs. For those who don’t know, EVP stands for Electronic Voice Phenomenon and is disembodied voices caught on tape.

The investigation also included many sightings of the ‘black figures’ and ghosts by members of The Searcher Group and others in the paranormal field that joined in to assist them. As well, there was one spirit in particular, who frequently displayed his anger and threatened physical harm to those he considered as intruders in his home.

If you want to learn more not only about how ghost hunters operated but also what it’s like to be on the other side of the veil, then this book is most definitely for you. I found it fascinating that those who have passed over are still so aware of those of us still in the physical world.

Richard Palmisano, who lives in Toronto, has researched the issue of life after death for 30 years and has written two other books: Overshadows and Journeys into the Unknown. The story follows the beautiful and intelligent Marguerite, a young woman of both French and African blood, who upon reaching the shores of America falls madly in love with wealthy landowner, Thomas Burnett.

They quickly marry and travel by coach across several states, while Thomas, who was born in Scotland, takes care of business. Along the way, they are both stunned to learn of the nasty way landowners deal with their slaves – beating, raping and sometimes even killing them. The softhearted Thomas buys as many of them as he can in the hopes of taking them to freedom in his homeland.

Meanwhile, Marguerite endures a difficult journey as she is with child. There is grave concern over her welfare because of an African curse that followed her maternal ancestors for 12 generations – a curse that was too horrible to imagine and one that no one wanted to believe.
Author Vangie Williams has developed her characters well and we quickly come to care for them as if they, indeed, were family. The plot is also well thought out and the story is written with great care when dealing with delicate subjects.

Overall, this book is a great read, especially if you are interested in understanding life and how people thought during America’s early days. And as noted in the title, this book is called ‘Book 1,’ so it can be assumed that the story of this unrelenting curse is not yet over.

To get your copy of Broken Life, A Fight for Forever, Book 1 go to Me Really Publishing, Inc. at http://www.mereally.com or http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1448608554/ref=tag_nof_ap_edpp.

Become An Established Author

Want to know what it takes to become an established author? Instead, Danny finds her in Kabul amid the turmoil of the 1979 Soviet invasion of Pakistan. He hopes she’ll explain why she opted to travel and find herself rather than marry him and live the life of a doctor’s wife in California.
As fate would have it, a bomb blast sends them in different directions before any explanation can be made and Danny finds himself stranded in this foreign land not knowing what became of his beloved Heather. Of course, the search for her continues but with a surprising twist that brings him more happiness than he could ever have imagined.
It is clear that a great deal of thought went into the plot of Overland – the title taken from a travel guide book entitled Going Overland that features various countries including Pakistan and India. The first chapter takes the reader back to a time when Danny visited Ireland, where a lovely lass with sparkling green eyes enters his life. The story then moves ahead 11 years to Washington, D.C. where Heather and another man enter into a heated discussion at a local bar. Both of these events are tied up nicely at the end of the book as to how they relate to the overall story.
The characters are well developed and the reader soon becomes attached – particularly to Danny. The descriptions of the various locations are full and captivating, letting the reader take them in with all senses. In the end, we celebrate along with the main character and share fully in his joy.
There are, however, a few minor spelling errors (typos?) throughout the book. (ie.) (“…everything swum as in a dream,” “…letting her shoulders slump in heap,” “…moved in overnight night,” “Heather looked at him with exhausted, perhaps….” “He leafed though the pages.”) There are also a few run-on sentences but not enough to become distracting to the reader. (ie.) (“This wasn’t his trip, he wasn’t prone to stop and linger at the sights.”)
What is more disconcerting though is the frequent repetition of words. For example: “She said she felt more at home there than in her own neighborhood back home. She is still looking for that place. Home.” Or “Within the hour, they arrived at the Afghani border. The bus stopped at the border.” The use of “Istanbul repetitively in Chapter 9 is another example.
But what is most irritating is the never-ending use of the name, Danny. Here is just one example: “Sergeant Chernoff ordered Danny to halt. The tank just behind them moved ahead of Danny then stopped. Danny remained handcuffed and hoisted on top of the tank, then shoved into the tank’s belly. The Soviets were forceful and unkind. They tossed Danny around and let him fall to the floor without any assistance.”
Four times in one paragraph is just too much. The reader knows after the first chapter, whom he is and by using more creative sentences, this repetition can easily be avoided.
Now everyone knows that I truly hate having to point out such things but would it be fair to those whose work does not contain these problems? As much as I’d love to give everyone a raving review, it cannot be done with honesty and integrity on my part. Writing is in itself, a learning process and the best way to learn is to take constructive criticism with grace. That way, an author’s future books will undoubtedly be much better.
Overland is a great story, full of adventure, humor, and life and death situations that put the reader on the edge of his or her seat. Regardless of the errors noted, it’s still a good effort by this author and I suspect his future works will be much improved. My only suggestion to this and other authors in the same boat is to ensure that they hire a competent editor before sending their manuscript off for publication.
To get your copy of Overland, go HERE.
Visit the #1 Boomer's Writing Site http://www.boomers-write.com

Book Review - Arousing the Goddess

By Tim Ward
Published by Somerville House Publishing
ISBN-10: 1-895897-64-5
ISBN-13: 978-1895897647
256 Pages

After reading and reviewing two very similar books about traveling and searching for enlightenment in the far East, Arousing the Goddess offered a refreshing change.

While this book by Tim Ward does include vivid descriptions of his travels in the 1980’s along the Dharma Trail throughout India, Thailand, China and Tibet, he focuses more on an unexpected sexual relationship with Sabina, who came to the area to record and photograph rare statues of Buddhist touching the earth beneath him, and asking it to bear witness for him. The Earth Goddess is depicted rising in his defense the moment before he achieved enlightenment.

Throughout this true adventure tale, Ward is torn between following an austere monastic existence or following his heart (and hormones). As a Canadian travel writer, he takes us along on his journey from the grimy, overpopulated streets of Calcutta where beggars and invalids roam, to wandering through the museums and ruins of Patna, taking in a Buddhist conference in New Delhi, search out temples and monasteries, and finally relaxing in Puri with Sabina – a blonde-haired Austrian who stirs in him not only sexual desire, but also intense tantric energy that overwhelms his being and leaves him wanting more.

It seems odd to think of the sexual act as a mystical experience and it’s likely that very few people have actually achieved it. The tantric energy that can be unleashed during sex is believed to stem from a single “Source of all being.” Ward learns that by idolizing his lover as a goddess and carrying out a few simple rituals, this height of physical pleasure can be achieved without orgasm. He also discovers that doing so can be painful because mishandled, the energy can turn out of control.

Nevertheless, once experienced, Ward is captivated and chooses to follow Sabina – to the ends of the earth, if he must – to capture this ecstasy just one more time. But Sabina is intent on completing her research above all else and Ward is left like a puppy dog chasing its master in what becomes an amusing situation that the author parlays with both wit and an ounce of fun. This is a book to be savored and enjoyed.
To get your copy of Arousing the Goddess go
HERE.

Other books by this author:

What the Buddha Never Taught (Somerville House Books – June 1998)
Arousing the Goddess: Sex and Love in the Buddhist Ruins of India (Monkfish Book Publishing – October 2003)
Visit the #1 Boomer's Writing Site http://www.boomers-write.com

No Justice

By Darcia Helle
Published by Quiet Fury Books
Copyright © 2008
ISBN: 978-1442195332
Pages: 229

I love it when a book begins with an intriguing first line – one that immediately captures my attention and draws me in through the need to know more. No Justice does that. I instantly wanted to sit for the rest of the day just reading it.

This book tells the tale of a man who lost his loved one to murder and the criminal was never brought to justice – hence the name. What do you do when the justice system fails you? Do you take matters into your own hands or hope that an all-knowing and loving God would eventually be meted out that justice? Michael Sykora chose the former.

Author Darcia Helle has written a riveting story, albeit somewhat predictable. As the reader follows Michael on his quest of fury and murder, I found myself turning each page faster than the last to find out what happened. It will certainly keep you rapt from beginning to end.

And speaking of the end, I somehow felt that there was more that should have followed – some explanations – some climax to it all. Was there still no justice? I guess not. Did they live happily ever after? Perhaps I was to assume so. Fortunately, Darcia Helle is already planning a sequel to this book!

It’s a great read if murder and suspense are part of your reading ‘cup of tea.’ I must say that I did enjoy it.
