We got off to a fantastic start this week with a full house of 24 participants where those who are race training showed us how its done in some feisty winds! The Wednesday group had some better conditions as well as the Thursday night Adult group who got out there despite the chilly temperatures!</p>
34. <p>Each night has been concluded with smiles,  good vibes,  and some fab food courtesy of Chai Deli.</p>
35. <p>Our Training Principle, Richard Woffinden summarized; <em>&#8220;It&#8217;s great to be back training in the club, nearly as good as that rainbow we organized to open our season!. Seeing the club so busy, full of excitement and enjoyment again both on and off the water is what we&#8217;re all about. I&#8217;d like to thank all of our volunteers that assist with our training, along with all those who work tirelessly in the background to keep us all on the water. It&#8217;s a mammoth effort and weeks like this is our reward.&#8221;</em></p>

141. <p>It was an early start for our safety boat trainees this weekend. We gathered at the boat sheds for 8am sharp to haul out Merlin and Mari, get them fueled up and ready for a day on the water. Saturday&#8217;s weather was grey but dry with a decent breeze. Day one consisted of refreshing our powerboat2 skills &#8211; driving safely at speed, standing off, close maneuvering and the beginnings of how to tow different boats.<br />
142. We then headed back in to the club for a debrief and presentation summarizing what we had learned over some well deserved food served by Chai.</p>
143. <p>Day two started with dazzling sunshine &amp; blue skies with a lighter breeze &#8211; a complete contrast to the previous day. The crew met again at 8am sharp and headed out on the water, this time with several &#8220;rescue volunteers&#8221; to help us gain first hand experience at righting both mono and multihulls along with practicing skills at retrieving casualties from the water.<br />
144. The final task of the day was to demonstrate a range of useful knots and to celebrate a successful course!</p>
145. <p>If you are ever concerned about whether you will feel comfortable joining a course then come speak to any of us. Being part of a club is sometimes painted as an old fashioned notion that belongs to yesteryear, But when you gather a group of like minded enthusiastic people together to learn stuff in pursuit of a common goal it can serve up something special. Twelve of us met on Saturday morning, we didn&#8217;t all know each other and only a couple of us knew where the truck keys were, but by the end of the weekend there was a sense of camaraderie, shared knowledge and experience. We all worked in teams and learned skills that will contribute towards the safe running of the club. We&#8217;ll all enjoy catching up next time we are in the clubhouse, If you see another course on offer think about coming along to see for yourself!</p>

254. <p>Mumbles Yacht Club was warm and welcoming to all the members &amp; guests that attended the consultation last night. Firstly a huge thankyou to everyone who supported, participated and presented, It was wonderful to see so many people come together for the club.</p>
255. <p>The consultation began as any good gathering should &#8211; with delicious food from the galley served by Chai Deli and fresh drinks from the bar. The Commodore Louise Herbert-Evans welcomed and thanked everyone for being there and gave a short introduction on how the strategy group have worked tirelessly to ensure a future for MYC. The most prominent comment standing out from her speech being &#8220;if we do nothing, this club won&#8217;t be here in a couple of years&#8221;.</p>
256. <p>Kimberley Littlemore then addressed the members with a presentation, handing over to Russell who started by showing us the financial state of the club and the struggles we face. Kim then went on to show the dwindling memberships, participation and volunteers and the slow decline of the club&#8217;s facilities &#8211; all of which had been taken into consideration during their talks. She then launched into research &amp; statistics comparing generational trends, showing the stark change of the times in the last 4 years in how and what people want from watersports and clubs. Kimberly then presented the options that the strategy group had come up with for the members to consider, from refurbishing our current building to building a whole new facility on the knuckle and combining spaces, echoing from Louise that if we simply do nothing, the club will not sustain and that we need to evolve in order to remain.</p>
257. <p>With that Kimberley opened the floor for questions and concerns which started with a member commenting; <em>&#8220;Well done, thank you, I am inspired and motivated to get involved&#8221; [and that there is] &#8220;an exciting future.&#8221;  </em>A variety of questions and concerns were posed along with positive and hopeful remarks and overall the consultation was well received.</p>
