The Chancellor of Justice and the Parliamentary Ombudsman monitor the actions of all public servants from the highest level on down. Both are independent, with authority to investigate the actions of members of Parliament, ministers and even the head of state. The efficiency and high profile of these posts also help prevent abuses.<o:p></o:p></span></p>  <p style="text-align: justify; line-height: 150%;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;">The <i style="">courts </i>exercise judicial power, that is, they decide individual cases. The courts are independent: They are bound only by the law in force.
