Maybe you took it with a disposable camera and scanned. Or, maybe you took it with a digital camera, but it still does not look right. Here's a better way to slightly enhance the quality of a digital photo for printing purposes :-

1. Open your photo taken via Photoshop application that you already installed into your PC. If you need to, crop your photo using the CROP tool on the left tool bar. This can help remove any unnecessary background that may be in there.

2. Crop the photo to focus on the subject. Photoshop have provided a simple command to crop your photo. To crop a photo in Photoshop, use the Photoshop "Crop Tool" on the toolbar or press "C." This will allow you to box in on the area you want to keep.

Correct color. To correct the colour to get the best quality of your digital photo, Click on Enhance -> Color to bring up the Saturation dialog. Move the Saturation slider until the photo looks correct.

4. Finally, try resize your photo for printing purposes, emailing or posting your photo on the web. When you are make editing of your photos, of sure you would like to keep them at the highest resolution, but you must remember, by sending with high-resolution over the Internet is not practical exercise. To resize the photo for the web or email, click on Image -> Resize -> Image Size.

online digital photo printing services
</v:imagedata></o:lock></v:path></v:f></v:f></v:f></v:f></v:f></v:f></v:f></v:f></v:f></v:f></v:f></v:f></v:stroke>

Print Your Photos Like A Pro At Home

online digital photo printing services

Even with the lowest pixel available in your digital camera, you too can produce photos and prints at home that can look better than those made in photo labs. Digital photo printing has come to a point where everybody is given the choice to either produce the output by themselves or to get assistance from outside. So when you opt to do it yourself, avoid the two mistakes often made by first timers of digital photo printing.

Mistake # 1: Digital camera is not set to the highest image quality.

Solution:

The first thing you should do is to set your digital camera to the highest picture resolution available. This can be found in the camera’s setup menu, and usually indicated as either “quality” or “size”.

In addition, when your digital camera offers you to select between TIFF and JPG when saving your photo, opt for TIFF. TIFF images appear much cleaner, crisper, and more detailed than the JPG version. However, you have to take note that TIFF files have larger sizes than JPG that your digital memory card may not be able to save many photos.

Moreover, most digital cameras have memory cards that could only hold a few high resolution TIFF images. To answer this problem, you could either buy a larger memory card that will cost you almost $100, or just settle with choosing images you like best and discarding those not at par with your tastes.

Mistake # 2: Printer is not set up for the right resolution and paper type.

Solution:

Second, when you go to your printer’s settings in your computer find your printer’s setup and put to highest quality color digital photo printing. This is sometimes indicated in dpi (dots per inch). Still, some printers have a “Quality versus Speed” setting which makes you choose between faster printing or better looking photos. When you’re doing documents, it is better to use the Speed setting, while for photos, go for Quality.

Finally, choose a photo paper rather than plain paper. The reason why manufacturers produced and named them “photo” papers is because they’re definitely for this type of use. Photo papers come in either glossy or matte finish.

And take note of the brand of the photo paper. Particular printers choose to work only with photo paper of the same brand. It’s not that manufacturers wanted to get even the paper market to their side; it’s just that printers and papers are usually designed around each other.

For better results, just stick to the same brand as that of your printer. Even with the introduction of third party substrates, certain problems such as smearing and unnatural color balance will just show in the end when you choose to use other brands.

About Digital Printing Company

Digital Printing Company offers high impact digital printing solutions from prepress scanning and graphics design to customizing documents using Variable Data Imaging technology. With this much of an audience imagine your ebook in their hands. Your ebook is the new medium people look for to gain information, ideas, techniques, and expert knowledge. It's no wonder why electronic self-publishing has become so popular so quickly.
Printed books may still be the choice for some readers. However what we find is that as more users come online, more content and information are being placed in ebooks. This makes is easier to access and obtain to anybody all over the world.

Having said that, let's look at what makes ebooks so important and so unique. Ebooks have certain abilities and qualities that other mediums do not possess.

What makes ebooks so attractive is how inexpensive it is to make one. You don't need a printing press, a publisher, an agent, or distributor. Those needs are no longer there. What you do need is good content, ideas and expertise conveyed into your ebook. Either by you or by a writer that can be hired to do it.

The beauty of ebooks is that you can make continuous changes without shelling out tons of money to reprint. All you need to do is modify your original creation of the ebook. They are also easily and rapidly distributed online. You no longer need to give up much of your profit to get someone to distribute your book.

With ebooks all you have to do is download it from a website and it's on your computer. You don't have to wait on long lines in bookstores or search through endless titles. You can find them online.

The potential with ebooks is limitless. You can make them interactive by including surveys, links to video or audio, or direct your reader to links relevant to your ebook. This is one of the unique and specific qualities that ebooks can generate traffic to your website. Now go out and create that ebook.

About the Author
Yomi A. is a freelance writer for Fire Your Boss Network. You understand that there is an increase in the need to self-market your title, but there is also a correlating increase in profit margin. Other risks have been assessed and you're comfortable moving forward in the direction you've chosen.

Have you applied for an ISBN number?

"What's that?" You might be asking yourself. Well, an ISBN (International Standard BookNumber) is a specific number that helps identify your book and has provided the standard of book identification since 1970.

Some brick and mortar stores as well as online retailers have policies that disqualify the sale of a book that does not contain an ISBN.

The cost to purchase an ISBN may seem prohibitive for many. Here's the basic cost structure...

Registration Fee: $24.95

Service Fee for 10 ISBN's: $225.00

Annual Fee: $25

Manual Processing Fee (if you file a print application): $50

Express Service (if required): $125

If you needed an ISBN number quickly you would spend close to $450 to get one. The truth is, you receive up to ten ISBN's for the price listed above, but the acquisition of an ISBN doe note provide a distinction between the need for one or ten separate numbers, ultimately you pay the same price. This can be a benefit I you have additional titles planned, but can be a hefty expense for a single book

The online web address for ISBN acquisition is http://www.isbn.org/standards/home/isbn/us/secureapp.asp

You should know that there are resellers of International Standard BookNumbers and you can purchase a single ISBN for around $50 through these services. Another alternate avenue for the purchase of an ISBN is through your book printer. These printing firms often provide this as a service to their printing customers simply because they realize that you may not need 10 ISBN numbers and you may not wish to pay $300-400 for the use of a single ISBN.

The task of self-publishing may seem daunting, but it can be successfully done. Just as you spent time researching the subject matter for your book, so too is the process for the publication process. Beyond the need for an ISBN you will also need to manage copyright issues as well as filing your work with the Library of Congress. Again in many cases a qualified book printer can address these issues although you may find a less expensive alternative with a little online comparison-shopping.

Scott Lindsay is a web developer and entrepreneur. If you are already an experienced author and you used such tools for your writing, you know what you are dealing with. You probably have a blog or a website where you showcase your skills.

If you monetize your blog, you are even one of the self-published authors who makes money from his/her work. Many bloggers refuse to display AdSense ads or other such distracting features. They fear that displaying moneymaking widgets lowers the credibility of the blog and their own credibility. If we analyze the Web and the online self-publishing channels we find even more controversial opinions. But no matter how we look at it, self-publishing is more than a trend: it is a way of publicizing content quickly and freely.

The debate begins when the readers start doubting the quality of self-publicized content (particularly when we speak about self-publicized books). Ebooks don’t trigger so many controversies as printed books. The problems appear because of free self-publishing services where no proofreading is ensured and the books come from print without a proper quality check, hence many spelling and grammar errors.

Any professional writer knows that it is human to err, no matter how great the skills. Even academics use proofreaders prior to publishing their essays and treatises. But some young authors are not so careful. Many dream and pray for overnight success. They forget that sudden fame has the same value as a shooting star: it’s pretty as it glows, but soon forgotten. Real success is a marathon, not a sprint.

Considering these facts, should we vote against free self-publishing providers? Not really.

The ones who should care about the quality of their work are the authors. They should understand that “free” is not always the best choice.

For example, many foreign authors choose to write in English, because, let’s face it, the English speaking public segment is broader – hence the chances to make an author known are higher. Some of these authors are confident in their skills (and generally they have no reasons to doubt themselves), but they still choose to hire a proofreader prior to publishing their work.

Others are too confident and they forget that any language has subtleties mastered solely by natives. These “too confident” authors go on publishing their works without proofreading. Sometimes the results are not bad, but in most of the cases the readers will find enough reasons to complain.

The readers don’t really care where the books are coming from. They don’t really want to know who published the book (unless we talk about famous publishing houses or collectible books). But they do have the tendency to blame the printing house if they find spelling and grammar errors.

The readers don’t know that the modern authors tend to skip the proofreading process just to save a few bucks. However, even if your “name” as an author will not have too much to suffer, do you really want to deliver a poor quality book on the shelves of your readers? Do you really want the libraries to store something that later, when you are a famous writer, will come back to you like a boomerang? Think about it!

Michael Russell

Your Independent guide to Publishing

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Michael_Russell

15th book edition manual own print publishing self sell write

Five Profitable Ways To Self Publish Books

by: Hal Gieseking

15th book edition manual own print publishing self sell write

"Build your advertising campaign around a BIG IDEA or it will fail."

David Ogilvy, certainly one of the five greatest advertising people who ever lived, constantly preached that advice to his staff. I was a creative supervisor for his agency, Ogilvy & Mather, Inc. in New York for eight years, creating print and TV ads for clients that included American Express, IBM, KLM Airlines, United States Travel Services and others. I tried very hard to find the "big idea," not always successfully. I hit more "doubles" than "home runs" but D.O., as Ogilvy was referred to in interoffice memos, always stressed swinging hard at every advertising pitch.

I often learned more from my strike outs than my occasional home runs, and I later applied what I learned when I started my own book publishing firm. Look for a "big idea" for the book. Decide who can most benefit from the book and write it for that audience. Consider how you can test the waters for a book and presell it to reduce the costs of failure (which are common and high in the book publishing field).

Here are five things I have learned about reducing the risks and increasing the rewards of self publishing books. I hope some of these may help you.

1. Build a reputation in the field that you know by writing about what you know.

I knew a great deal about travel advertising and marketing. I wrote to Gordon Greer who was then travel editor of Better Homes & Gardens and proposed a series of consumer-oriented articles about how to read travel brochures and ads, how to reduce the costs of trips, and how to avoid the growing number of travel scams. I wrote three articles for BH&G and had my first journalist credits in a national magazine.

2. Earn money as you write your book by creating a subscription newsletter

Everything in life can be a stepping stone. Based on my experience in travel advertising and travel journalism, I interested a large corporation in sponsoring the Travel Advisor - a monthly consumer newsletter with an annual subscription price of $35. Because of the direct mail marketing expertise of the corporation, we had more than 30,000 subscribers. I researched the articles carefully, e.g., "Why you may pay twice as much as the person sitting next to you on the airline," and "Why hotels overbook." I then selected the best of these articles and combined them into a book that was published by Simon & Schuster, CONSUMER HANDBOOK FOR TRAVELERS. Several years later I developed a newsletter of job hunting techniques. The newsletter never sold well, but I had all the chapters for a new book, 30 DAYS TO A GOOD JOB. sold in a record 48 hours to Simon & Schuster.

3. "Package" books for publishers.

I looked for Big Ideas that might interest publishers. A simple way to look for trends is to type key words into google search. Then check how many pages are listed for Bed & Breakfast, Home Exchanges, Time sharing, etc. A semi-annual check of the increase in pages indicates the subject is getting "hotter" in the minds of the public. I have brought together writers, photographers and artists to create new books for major publishers on bed & breakfasts, travel and nature guides, etc. You can check some of these books under my name in amazon.com.

4. Learn through trial and error how to self publish books"

I never met a vanity publishing company that I liked. Some companies that promise great rewards for unknown authors have turned out to be more scamsters than publishers, charging outrageous fees and providing few marketing services for writers. My first self published book, CARING FOR PETS, turned out to be a dog. I got good publicity but sold only about a hundred copies. Then I had to pay warehouse storage fees on the unsold books. Finally I offered the lot to Doris Day to use as premiums for donors to her pet foundation. Got a nice letter from Doris and a decent tax deduction. But now print on demand has become a godsend for writers. There are a growning number of these publishers, but my favorite is lulu at www.lulu.com They don't charge for prep work and guide you with online help. They also help sell your book on their website and send you royalty checks.

Customize self published books for higher profits

Print on demand and fast turnaround (a printed book within a week) allows me to create books that are as current as weekly magazines and to create special editions of books for "sponsors." For example, I put the ReMax logo on the cover of the WILLIAMSBURG ONE-DAY TRIP BOOK and some of a ReMax agency's property listings in the back of the book. I sold 5,000 copies to a large timeshare comany that gave them to prospects. I am working with a leader of the Lutheran Church who has written a wonderful book, LAUGHTER - using good humor to raise your spirits and celebrate the risen Christ. Individual churches can add their own messages to this book. My current nonfiction book, REINVENT YOURSELF. features advice from 40 successful Americans that I interviewed. CEOs and individuals can customize this book with their own messages of advice. Best selling self published books are internet marketing, web design, travel guides, other self-help guides. Novels, in general, do not sell well either as self published books or on the Internet.

About The Author

Hal Gieseking is a past president of the Society of American Travel Writers and former Consumer Editor of Travel Holiday magazine. He is currently CEO of the Business Scribe, Inc. and can be reached at halron8@yahoo.com. Graham

15th book edition manual own print publishing self sell write

It seems that a lot of people dream of getting a children's book published. Knowing that I am in the publishing business, I have had scores of people over the years tell me that they either have an idea for a great children's book or have already written one. But how many of these ever got published? Not many.

A lot of them just aren't that good, but some of them may be gems. The reality is that, even though you have a good story, it is not easy to find a publisher. Some people resort to paying a company to publish their book. That isn't really a viable alternative because you have to invest a lot of money up front before you know if your book will sell.

One solution is to take advantage of modern technology and publish your book yourself. So how do you go about publishing a book that you have written? Fortunately, you have several options. With today's powerful desktop publishing tools it's not too hard to do a layout all by yourself, print the pages on a laser printer, and take it somewhere like Kinko's to be put in a generic binding.

If you want the book to be personalized with the child's name and the names of friends and relatives as well, it's possible to do that with word processing software, although you have to be pretty good at using the software. One alternative would be to find someone experienced at word processing to do your layout for you on a contract basis.

Another alternative would be to use a custom book service Custom Books that would take your story and illustrations, place them into a scripted format, and provide you with customized software and binding materials for making your books at home, one at a time, as your customers order them.

Once you have the production aspects of your book handled, you can decide how you're going to market your book. Thanks to the internet, it is now possible for an author to market his or her books directly to the public. You probably aren't going to get rich this way, but that's not really the point in most cases.

It is satisfying to see your creation in print and to know that others are enjoying your book. By doing a little research on the web you can quickly learn how to develop a website to market your book. There are many hosting companies from which to choose, and it's surprising how little it costs to operate a small site. You can easily set up a PayPal account so your customers can pay by any means they wish to use.

Instead of just dreaming about being a published author, why not just make it happen? I recently read an inspirational poster in a classroom to this effect. It said something like this: Don't sit around and wait for your dreams to come true; instead, work hard to make them come true.

About The Author

Bill Graham,
Vice President, Jiff-e-Books Personalized Children's Books
20 years experience in publishing
B.A. English, author of numerous popular children's books.
http://jiff-e-books.com
billgraham@jiff-e-books.com
Personalized Books
512-784-9787

15th book edition manual own print publishing self sell write
