11. Immersing myself in a house full of pretty color (Wythe Blue!), fun pattern and fabulous furniture is what I call the perfect end to the week! This fabulous home was designed by Abbe Fenimore of <a href="http://studioten25.com/" target="_blank">Studio Ten 25</a> out of Dallas, Texas (and photographed beautifully by <a href="http://www.melaniejohnsonphotography.com/" target="_blank">Melanie Johnson</a>) for a newlywed couple that wanted a chic modern look for their first home together. The builder’s standard and more traditional finishes weren't working for them so Abbe had dark espresso hardwoods installed, dated lighting changed out and unveiled a black and white color palette with pops of turquoise and yellow! She also incorporated the wife's love for mirrored pieces while bringing in the bold graphics and masculine touches the husband was after. All in such perfect balance! Isn't the bedroom amazing?! (The couple–and Abbe's favorite room!) The curtains and bedding are so luxurious, not to mention that incredible headboard! <br />

44. Is this room not entirely darling?! Interior designer Tawna Allred of <a href="http://revedecorinteriors.com/1207/a-girls-bedroom/" target="_blank">Rêve Décor</a> out of Star Valley, Wyoming created the cheery space, photographed beautifully here by <a href="http://www.rebeccawhitephotography.com/" target="_blank">Rebecca White</a>. The room actually belongs to Tawna's two lucky little girls, ages 9 and 4, so she wanted it to be a little more grown up and fun...but also flexible! My favorite thing here is the adorable artwork. Her oldest daughter actually drew the pictures years ago and Tawna turned them into oil paintings! 106. Laundry rooms aren't usually the first spaces to get decorated, but I feel like we ALL love and appreciate a pretty laundry room! Kim Wilson of <a href="http://www.sandandsisal.com/2012/05/laundry-room-makeover.html" target="_blank">Sand & Sisal</a> decided that since she had to spend so much of her time doing laundry ("with two messy teen girls, two dirty, sweaty, little boys, a hubs who never unrolls his gym socks!" Ha!!), then her laundry room had to at least be beautiful! She did a stellar job on the makeover, don't you think?? She used one of my favorite paint colors on the walls–<a href="http://www.sherwin-williams.com/homeowners/color/find-and-explore-colors/paint-colors-by-family/SW6211-rainwashed/" target="_blank">"Rainwashed" by Sherwin Williams</a>. I especially love it next to the fresh white beadboard ceiling and crown molding that they installed. The sorting station is absolutely genius too!! 113. We spent this past weekend decorating our home for the holiday, now it's time to decorate the blog! When the owners of this cozy mountain home moved from D.C. to Park City, Utah, they hired interior designer <a href="http://www.elizabethhagueinteriors.com/" target="_blank">Elizabeth Hague</a> and architect <a href="http://www.gtmarchitects.com/" target="_blank">George Myers</a> to design them a home with a traditional Eastern aesthetic...no typical timbered mountain home for this family! My favorite feature in November's issue of <a href="http://www.lonny.com/magazine/November+2012/exBLL1AV0gR/1#81" target="_blank">Lonny</a> was this Hollywood Hills home belonging to interior designer <a href="http://interiordesign.markdsikes.com/index.html" target="_blank">Mark D. Sikes</a>. The dining room took my breath away with the stunning hand-painted <a href="http://www.graciestudio.com/pages/wallpaper/chinese-scenics.html" target="_blank">Gracie</a> Chinoiserie wallpaper, but I also adore the bathroom with the hand-painted Portuguese tiles! Wish I could snag that entire breakfast area for myself too...love those director's chairs! Designed and built by <a href="http://echeloncustomhomes.com/gallery/the-sanctuary/" target="_blank">Echelon Custom Homes</a>, the spacious home located at the <a href="http://www.peninsula-delaware.com/index.php" target="_blank">The Peninsula</a> overlooking the Indian River Bay is so open and welcoming. Don't you love the paint colors?? My parents gave us the vintage Ethan Allen canopy bed, and in spite of my affinity for canopy beds, even I wouldn’t do that to the boy.  So, we left the top rails off and shortened the posts on the foot board.  My mother and I made the buffalo check and burlap shams and duvet cover.  My upholsterer made the bolster.  The sheet set is from <a href="http://www.potterybarn.com/products/grand-embroidered-sheet-set-white/?pkey=csheet-sets">Pottery Barn</a> in Sandalwood, the diamond matelasse spread was from Target about ten years ago, the polka dot blanket is from <a href="http://dixiedelights.blogspot.com/2011/12/new-orleans-shoppes.html">Aux Belles Choses in New Orleans</a>, and the Pottery Barn Kids monogrammed quilt was a baby shower gift! <br />

The two bedside tables were originally mismatched pieces from an antique/junk store and from my<a href="http://dixiedelights.blogspot.com/2011/06/foyer-freshening.html"> foyer</a> many moons ago.  I wasn’t in love (or really even in-like for that matter) with either of them to start, but they were the right size, the right height and the right price (free) so I painted their tops with Annie Sloan’s chalk paint in old white and then skirted them in burlap to hide their different bases.  After scouring the Ballard Designs outlet for months on end (seriously…I’m talking at least 7 months), I finally found a pair of the Suzanne Kasler <a href="http://www.ballarddesigns.com/suzanne-kasler-large-gourd-lamp/209497">large gourd lamps</a> in gray green for a song.  The drum shades were also lucky outlet finds (that didn’t require seventeen trips.)  The table decor was picked up here and there over time.<br />

The dresser wall is probably my favorite in the room.  The dresser was my husband’s as a child and I <a href="http://dixiedelights.blogspot.com/2012/09/at-long-last.html">made it over</a> by stripping and staining the top, painting the base in Annie Sloan’s duck egg blue chalk paint and adding new mercury glass knobs from Anthropologie.  Oh, and speaking of those knobs, while they are undoubtedly easy on the eye, they are really the devil to work with since they simply won’t stay screwed in.  (Read: steer clear of these knobs!)  I purchased the mirror a few years ago from a local boutique.  <a href="http://www.restorationhardware.com/catalog/product/product.jsp?productId=prod1619056&cm_ps=modal_add_to_cart-_-none-_-other_items_you_may_like&categoryId=cat1580144">Restoration Hardware</a> carries an almost identical version, but I don’t want to make y’all cry when I tell you that it costs at least double what I paid.  The chippy corbels are the same us under the bar in <a href="http://dixiedelights.blogspot.com/2012/02/look-at-den.html">the den</a>.  I’ve had them for a few years (purchased from the same shoppe as the mirror - G. Scott Interiors) and I really cannot say just why I purchased two sets of the same corbels but boy am I glad I did!  The <a href="http://www.bbraithwaite.com/shop/pc/home.asp">B. Braithwaite</a> bear was a welcome to the world gift from Mimi and Ampa.  The W is done in a map of the Savannah River (<a href="http://dixiedelights.blogspot.com/2012/10/mapped-out.html">see how here</a>) and sits atop a collection of favorite books.  The jar is from Target (I spray painted the lid in oil rubbed bronze to look like a pricey set I loved in New Orleans) and holds my own set of Beatrix Potter books and the baby’s monogrammed baby shoes.<br />

In the corner of the room sits a little <a href="http://dixiedelights.blogspot.com/2012/09/a-new-old-chair.html">antique chair</a> that I had covered in the Como Gris velvet.  My parents gave the baby the linen pillow for Christmas last year and my mother was a doll to applique it with his initial in the same velvet.  The metal crate holds more books and was purchased last year from <a href="http://dixiedelights.blogspot.com/2011/12/polar-express.html">Gracious Home in Blue Ridge</a>.<br />

535. I have quite the obsession with all things Nantucket, so imagine my delight when I saw <i>this</i>! The chic boutique hotel was designed by the Boston-based interior designer <a href="http://www.rachelreider.com/portfolio-chapman-house.html" target="_blank">Rachel Reider</a>, and I have to say I've never seen such a cool hotel, a hotel <i>so</i> up my design alley, in all my life...forget that it's even in Nantucket! <a href="http://www.theverandahouse.com/chapman-house/" target="_blank">Chapman House</a> was built in 1717, but Rachel recently gave it one heck of a facelift. Public areas and each of the 11 unique guest rooms, captured here by <a href="http://www.rarebrick.com/#index.htm" target="_blank">Rare Brick</a>, are brought to life with fabulous fabrics, bold colors and yummy prints, not to mention way-cool lighting, furniture and floor coverings. I love that there's still a coastal vibe (it is Nantucket after all) but not a whale to be seen! Sheree Harrison, the owner of <a href="http://www.frostedrobincupcakes.com/" target="_blank">Frosted Robin Cupcakes</a>, chose the captivating combo for her delightful and delicious cupcake cafe in Seaport Village, San Diego. (She was actually inspired by photos on my blog!) I'd say the wall color she used inside is darn right perfect...so of course it has to be custom! I can tell you though that the yummy doors and windows are painted Dunn-Edwards "Teal Me No Lies". Other than the color scheme, I love that Sheree instilled a home-away-from-home vibe in her cafe, inspired by childhood family gatherings in the kitchen. I was excited to learn the owner of this beautiful kitchen designed by <a href="http://lanebuilt.com/" target="_blank">Lane Homes & Remodeling</a> out of Richmond, Virginia was actually inspired by my blog when choosing the color palette for her new space. (How happy that makes me!) There are so many great details, all captured here by photographer <a href="http://www.johnmagor.com/" target="_blank">John Magor</a>. I love the mix of tile on the backsplash–especially the quatrefoil pattern, and the glass cabinets on top and their cool design. So glad they included some open cabinets as well, no better way to show off that lovely turquoise dinnerware!
