Microsoft has introduced a new resource for all role-based Microsoft Certification exams. This resource is designed to help with all role-based (associate, expert, and specialty) certification exams. Starting from August 22, Microsoft will begin updating their exams so that you will be able to access Microsoft Learn as you complete your exam. <a href="https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-learn-blog/introducing-a-new-resource-for-all-role-based-microsoft/ba-p/3500870" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">This resource will be available in all role-based and specialty exams in all languages by mid-September1</a>.
This new resource is intended to be used for those questions that describe problems where you may need to look something up on Microsoft Learn. It is not something you should be leveraging to answer every question. You will have access to everything in the learn.microsoft.com domain except Q&A and your profile. Extra time will not be added. <a href="https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-learn-blog/introducing-a-new-resource-for-all-role-based-microsoft/ba-p/3500870" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">The exam timer will continue as you search Learn for whatever information you need1</a>.
To use this resource during your exam, you will select the Microsoft Learn button available on the exam question screen. This will open Microsoft Learn in a split screen to the right of the exam question. <a href="https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-learn-blog/introducing-a-new-resource-for-all-role-based-microsoft/ba-p/3500870" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">You can then navigate through the website as you normally would and expand it to full screen if you prefer1</a>. This is an exciting new development that should help improve the overall exam experience for those taking role-based Microsoft Certification exams.

Not one exam that has proved challenging, nor a group. Without any real predicted rhythm, many will not see the light of July. From Fundamental Padawans to Expert Jedi, the Certifications could not prepare for what came next. The coming battle would be cemented in the history of the galaxy. 
From the slaying of many Certification exams to the many Exam Takers forced to scurry to the closest Certification that provided a sense of familiarity, No one was safe!

– Microsoft Learn is in the process of doing its spring cleanup in its certification portfolio. We’re losing one associate-level certification and two different specialty-level certifications. If you’re looking at getting Microsoft 365 certified, make sure you watch that video as well.
– Microsoft has retired all its troubleshooting exams. Instead of taking the troubleshooting connectivity exam, Microsoft recommends that you focus on the associate-level exam called Azure Network Engineer Associate. This will also be available for renewal until January 31, 2024.
– Microsoft Certified Azure IoT Developer Specialty Certification. You can still take the exam until July 31, 2023. Even if the certification retires, it will still remain in your transcript. Azure is still the biggest and strongest certification portfolio by Microsoft Learn.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Video Transcript</h2>
In this video, we will learn to say goodbye to three <a href="https://vladtalkstech.com/az-900-study-guide-microsoft-azure-fundamentals" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">Microsoft Azure</a> certifications exams. Microsoft Learn is in the process of doing its spring cleanup in its certification portfolio.
And it’s not only about Azure. Two weeks ago, I did a video on how Microsoft cut half of the certification exams in their Modern Workplace portfolio. So if you’re looking at getting Microsoft 365 certified, make sure you watch that video as well at the end.
But today we are going to talk about what we’re losing in the Azure side. We’re actually losing one associate-level certification and two different specialty-level certifications. Let’s start talking about the exams.
The first exam we have to say goodbye to, and the first certification of course as well is the Microsoft Certify Azure Stack Hub Operator Associate. Their certification that we got after passing Exam AZ-600 exam. This certification exam and this certification will retire on July 31, 2023.
You can still take the exam before then, so it’s still available today and valid for another twelve months. Microsoft recommends that instead of trying to go for the AZ-600 instead, you will get those skills from the Azure Administrator Associate Certification exam. So the AZ-104 or the Microsoft certified Windows Server hybrid Admin associate certification path, which, of course, includes two different exams.
Remember that if you are a current certification holder, you will still have it, and you can still renew it. And in fact, the renewal window will stay open until January 31, 2024. So you can renew a certification six months before it expires.
So we will still see people have the certification until maybe even the end of 2024. The second certification that we have to say goodbye to is the Azure Support Engineer for Connectivity. This was a specialty-level certification, and it will retire on July 31, 2023, along with its associated exam, the Microsoft AZ-720 exam.
Many of you who have listened to my previous videos about the Modern Workplace exam retirements probably expected this one to be retired as well because Microsoft did completely retire the team’s troubleshooting and exchanged troubleshooting exams. This was the other troubleshooting exam in the certification portfolio by Microsoft. So the Azure one will bite the dust as well.
But you are more than welcome to take the exam anytime until July 31, 2023. And this one will also be valid for twelve months. Instead of taking the troubleshooting connectivity exam, Microsoft recommends that you focus on the associate-level exam called Azure Network Engineer Associate.
So the reason why Microsoft said they are retiring the troubleshooting exams is because so much more things are covered in how to configure tools rather than how to troubleshoot them. And in theory, if you understand how to configure and manage something, you should also be able to troubleshoot them. So that’s Microsoft’s reasoning behind retiring all their troubleshooting portfolio across different technologies similar to the previous exam.
This will also be available for renewal until January 31, 2024. So you could go take the exam today, renew it in January. Remember, you can do it six months before and have the certification still for an almost full two years or so.
You still have the opportunity to take it today. Last but not least, another specialty certification that I was not necessarily expecting. The Microsoft Certified Azure IoT Developer specialty Certification.
IoT stands for Internet of Things. Honestly, I really wasn’t expecting this certification to go away because the Internet of Things devices are still taking over the world, and using Azure as a back-end platform is a great skilling challenge for developers. So Microsoft, the way they explained it is that working with IoT is done by multiple roles.
You rarely have a dedicated role that only does IoT on top of Azure. Instead, both architects should know about IoT. Every developer should know about IoT.
So they found that the dedicated specialty certification exam did not have its place anymore. You can still take the exam until July 31, 2023. Again, it will be valid for twelve months.
And if you pass the certification before them or you have it today, you can still renew it until January 31, 2024. And after that it will remain on your transcript, but will just show up as retired. So if you’re thinking about getting those certifications, you’re probably asking yourself, what should you do? The first thing I want to talk about is remembering that at the end of the day, the skills you have, the demo projects, and the actual projects matter way more than a certification.
My tip for you, my recommendation, would be, if you’re already studying for the certification, you’re maybe halfway through 75% the way through. Don’t give up now. Finish your studies, go get certified.
And remember, even if the certification retires, it will still remain in your transcript, still something you’ll be able to talk about to potential employers, that you did that certification, that you have the skills to do those different tasks. Also, if you don’t want to go for that specific certification, remember you can focus on some of the recommended alternate certifications that we talked about. So instead of, for example, the troubleshooting networking in Azure, go for the configuring networking in Azure, and so on.
Even with those retirements, Azure is still the biggest and strongest certification portfolio by Microsoft Learn. I mean after retirements, for all of those, Azure will have 18 certifications. Dynamics 365 will have eleven.
Because they’re also losing a few certifications, Microsoft 365 or Modern Workplace is losing a lot of them. They will only have six. So Microsoft 365 will be the one with the lowest number of certifications.
And finally, both Security and Power Platform will have seven certifications each. So, as you can see, Azure is still the biggest by far. Now, everything I talked about here is also in an official announcement that Microsoft put out recently, the title of the blog is called Announcing Updates to Azure and Support Engineer Training and Certification Portfolios, and you will find it on the Microsoft Learn blog on the tech community.

Welcome to this YouTube video, where we have some good news for all of you working with Microsoft 365 and with the Modern Workplace in general. Microsoft Learning announced a brand new role called Employee Experience platform specialist.
I am super excited about this role. Why? Because in the past few weeks, we’ve only had bad news about the modern Workplace and associated exams and courses. If you haven’t seen my previous video, make sure you watch it right after.
Basically, Microsoft announced that they’re going to retire half of the current Modern Workplace portfolio. So that was really sad for all the Microsoft 365 professionals out there that want to get certified. So I’m really happy to make this video that has some good news.
But there is a catch. So make sure you stick around right after the intro so we can talk about this new worldwide learning Microsoft role. As we have already said, the name of the role is the Employee Experience Platform Specialist role.
So what is the definition? And this is directly from Microsoft. Microsoft Employee Experience Platform Specialists assess, plan, strategize, design, and manage digital employee experiences. They use Microsoft Viva, microsoft teams, SharePoint power platform, and more.
Employee Experience Platform Specialists empower organizations to improve productivity, nurture empathetic leadership, and transform how employees feel about their work by developing a culture of trust, collaboration, well-being, and active listening. They continuously improve employee experience based on data-driven insights and feedback. Employee experience.
Platform specialists collaborate with senior executive leadership, HR It professionals, employee engagement teams, change management teams as well as learning and organizational development teams. They help to identify requirements for experiences such as employee onboarding career and skill development, rewards and recognition, compensation as well as benefits, employee well-being and employee retention. They design a solution that meets requirements, then work with Microsoft 365 Admins, SharePoint, Admins Teams, Admins, Data Scientists, and Security Teams, of course, to implement the solution.
Employee Experience Platform Specialists have a foundational understanding of Microsoft technologies, including Microsoft 365 Teams SharePoint, and a deep understanding of Microsoft Viva features and capabilities. They have experience in one or more of the following disciplines HR, People Development, Change Management, Information Technology, or Culture Development. So, I don’t know about you, but reading this makes me excited.
Especially that I always thought that this Employee Experience Platform Specialist was a role that we had in organizations around the globe. And now that we have Microsoft Viva, which lives in part in the It department, but also half of it is with the HR and Change Management Teams, with the Learning Development team. And now that we have so many modules, I feel like every department that manages people is involved with Microsoft Viva.
But remember when I said it’s all really good news? However, there is a small catch. So what’s the catch? Well, this new role will only be provided as a course. There is no certification exam or assessment planned, at least as of now, for this role.
So it will be simply a role that Microsoft recognizes. There will be official courseware for it. However, there will not be an exam associated with it. So that’s a bit of the sad part.
If we take a look a bit more in detail, this will be an instructor-led training course, or ILT, that you will be able to either do at a Microsoft learning partner with the help of a Microsoft-certified trainer such as me. Maybe that will be able to teach the course, guide you through the different labs and things like that, and answer any questions that you might have. Or you can follow the content yourself on Microsoft Learn.
If you’re not aware of the change, there are no more Microsoft official courses with dedicated labs and things like that. Like back in the days now, all the instructor-led training with Microsoft Official Content, the actual student handbook that we had before is now the Microsoft Learn Pad. So everything is available for you to study yourself.
This will be a one-day course without any lab offerings. However, there are some self-paced projects you will be able to do. The course number is Ms 80 T.
And by the way, you will notice that all of the Microsoft roles that are not associated with a certification, are under 100. So if you see, for example, Ms 100 T zero, that’s usually certification related. But if it’s Ms 40 or 80, that’s usually an official course, but it’s not related to a certification.
This course should be available on April 27, 2023. So pretty soon, this course page is actually live right away. So let’s go and check it out.
Okay, so I’m on Microsoft Learn on the Ms 80 t page. I’ll put a link here in the description so you can easily reach it. But all of this is public at the time of recording this video.
So what do we have here? First of all, we see that this is a one-day instructor-led training. It was only in English at the time of recording this video. It might be available in multiple languages later.
As this course becomes more popular, we do have a bit of an introduction to the course, so we can see, for example, what you will learn. You will learn to bring people together to create an optimal employee experience that enables your organization to improve productivity. So we have that, we have the audience profile, and we also have the targeted job role, which is a business analyst, business owner, or business user.
From a prerequisite point of view, you can see that it requires a general understanding of Microsoft 365, Microsoft Viva, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint, as well as familiarity with employee experience, concepts, and methodologies. Of course, as the course is not fully out yet, you do not have the Learnpath or anything like that, but you’ll be able to quickly find it on Microsoft Learn, and I might do a quick video or at least post on social media once the course is fully out. But really, this is it for now.
I won’t read it all just because you’re able to do that yourself. But instead, let me actually go here and let’s talk a little bit about what are some of my talks around this new role. So, first of all, I think this is a step in the right direction.
Why? Because this role definitely exists in organizations. I do believe that most large organizations, and by that, I mean the ones that actually pay a license for Microsoft Viva, do have somebody filling this role. And there is a need for training material right now; I find that for Microsoft Viva especially, there’s a lot more marketing material than training material.
So we end up with so much sales stuff. And here are some numbers. Here’s why you should buy it, but when you come into implementing it, you don’t have that much documentation.
When I worked on my Pluralsight course on getting started with Microsoft Viva, it was, and it is still available today, a course for administrators on how to deploy Viva. I found so much of the documentation to be lacking for some products. So I definitely think there is a need for training material.
I wish there was a certification associated with this course because having a course is cool, right? And training is one of the most important parts of the whole certification program, in my opinion. However, I do wish there was still a way for people to showcase this expertise to potential clients or employers. What I would love to see now is that this is what we have today, and I said it’s a step in the right direction.
What would be the right direction? According to Vlad, this is a bit of my wish list for Christmas, and I know we’re still a bit far from Christmas, but I would love to see two different certifications. I’d love to see something like the Ms 310 employee experience platform specialist. So a certification associated with this specific role and a new certification, ms 320 employee Experience administrator.
So for the administrator of all those tools, so SharePoint Admin, OneDrive Admin, and Viva Admin together, especially since now yammer is Viva Engage, that would be included as well. So really, the person that’s in charge of managing and administering everything that the employee experience platform specialist works with. So this is my early Christmas wish list from Worldwide Learning.
Those are two certifications that, if we had the training and the certification for it, I would be a super happy guy. But right now, there are no plans or any news for those certifications. But now, what’s your take on it? Please let me know in the comments.

– Microsoft certification practice tests are free. It’s a great way to validate your knowledge and also to build confidence before an exam. I just wish they were not the same price as the exam. Practice assessments should be the final step in your learning journey.

Welcome to this video, where we will talk about some good news. For every Microsoft certification taker, Microsoft now offers over 15 free practice tests for Microsoft certification exams.
This is actually not a completely new topic. The two months ago, I did a video on the launch of the first one, the SC-900, and you all loved it. It was one of the most popular videos on my channel, so thank you for that.
However, one of the comments that you all talked about was that Vlad, this is really amazing, but I wish we had it for more than just one exam, which was the SC-900 when I recorded that video. Well, good news. We now have them for 16 exams, actually, to be exact, at the time of recording this video.
But there is a small catch. Not all of them are visible on the exam page, but there is a secret page that shows all of them to you. And, of course, I’ll share that with you right after the intro of you that missed my initial video.
Let’s do a quick recap. What’s this whole thing about Microsoft and free practice tests if we take a step back? For the past few years, Microsoft had a partnership with Measure Up. Measure up is a certification practice exam provider.
And as you can see on the screenshot on the left side of your screen, under each exam where you would go to schedule it, you would have the Measure Up practice test. However, they were quite expensive. And even one of the comments on my previous video was like, I don’t mind paying for practice tests, but I don’t want them to be as expensive as the exam.
It makes no sense. So don’t get me wrong, measure up had amazing quality exams. Many fellow Microsoft certified trainers that I know worked with Measure Up to give to create questions.
They had amazing explanations and everything. However, those practice tests were quite expensive, and even the $109 version would only give you access for a few months. Then, in early 2022, Microsoft started offering their own sample questions.
So they were not in a test interface, they were simply a PDF document with 20 questions at the top, and then at the bottom, you had all of the answers for the 20 questions above. This was an amazing start, right?Especially for people that just want to get started. They just want to see if, hey, how far am I from being able to take this exam? Did I do 20 out of 20, or am I out of at five out of 20, and I need to practice a bit more? But this was really a good start.
And then, in early 2023, Microsoft launched its first practice assessment. When I did the previous video that I talked about earlier, it was only for the SC-900. If we recap, what do we get with Microsoft practice assessments, they are free.
First of all, you can take them as many times as you want, and you have 50 randomized questions per assessment, and it’s best answer type questions only, so you will not have selected three that apply. You will always have one question, four answer choices, and you have to select the best answer. Also, something that is cool is that for each question, they actually provide you with the reasoning why that is the correct answer, as well as a link to Microsoft Learn where you can go and see the documentation or see the larger explanation about that piece of the exam.
Something else I don’t have here in the slides, which I’m not able to, of course, vouch for. But the theory as well is that they will be a lot more up-to-date. Because before, when it was working with Measure Up, Microsoft would decide to update an exam.
Then they would have to really work on it, publish the changes, and then Measure Up would start working on the questions. Now, because this is all Microsoft-owned, the theory is it should be more up-to-date with the exam. But that, of course, remains to be seen.
How well Microsoft handles the updates of those practice tests now? Works New, so this is everything that we’ve already covered in the past video. Works New why am I doing this video today? Today Microsoft has over 15 practice tests that are available for free. And it’s not only 900.
So fundamental levels exams, we even have some associate level exams in there. For example, the AZ-104, the Azure Administrator, the AZ-204, and even the MS-700 managing the Microsoft team. So it’s not only for fundamental level exams; we also have them for associate level exams.
That’s something that I was honestly not sure Microsoft was going to do. I thought they would really keep it to the fundamentals, but they really took it above my expectations, and they have it for associate as well. So I’m really, really happy about that.
Something I’m a bit more confused or less excited about is why some of them are not even linked on the exam page. So if we take a look at an example here, the AZ-400. If you look in the screenshot on the left under Schedule the exam, you will see it’s still linking to the Measure Up practice test.
However, we do have a free Microsoft Practice assessment available. Same thing for the MS-700. It only links to the Measure Up Practice test, not to the free one by Microsoft.
Now, I don’t know why that is. Is it just a miscommunication between teams, and they didn’t get around to updating it yet? Or maybe it’s a previous deal they had with a Measure app that they need to keep that exclusively there for an amount of time. I have no idea why, but if you’re watching this video, you’re lucky; you will know how to find all of them.
But I do wish that Microsoft Learn put it on the exam page for everybody, even people that haven’t watched this video yet. So how do we actually find that list? Well, there is a dedicated page on Microsoft Learn. We’ll take a look at it in just a few seconds.
And you will also have it inside the description of this video. So don’t worry; you won’t have to copy it or pause the video; you’ll just be able to click on it at the bottom of the video. So actually, let me put this on the screen now.
So once you go to this page, you’ll see we have the practice assessments for Microsoft certification. We have the overview of what they do and something that’s really interesting here at the top. These assessments provide you with an overview of the style, wording, and difficulty of the questions you’re likely to experience on the exam.
So that is quite cool. And you will see all 16 of them. And Microsoft has been pretty good at keeping this specific page up to date, even if, for example, let me go to the MS-700 page here and I’m taking the MS-700.
I just finished the last course of that pat on Pluralsight. So, by the way, if you’re studying for the MS-700, check out Pluralsight. There’s going to be a link in the description as well, over 20 hours of content, so you can study for that exam.
But if I scroll down here to the scheduling exam, you will notice we only have the measure-up practice test. Even here, we have only the exam sandbox and the study guide. No mention at all of the free practice test.
But now that you know this page that we have here, you’re able to go on it. We have MS-700 managing Microsoft teams, and we are able to really do the practice test for free. Again, it’s amazing that we have 50 practice questions that we can do for free.
No labs, nothing like that. But they do match the difficulty and the wording of the exam. So they are really a good way to test your knowledge against what you will be evaluated on on the exam.
So really make sure that you take note of that page because, for many exams, it’s not there yet on the exam page. So if you take an exam and it doesn’t have the practice test linked on the exam page yet, make sure you go to the page in the description or here on the slides to see if it’s there yet and maybe not updated or not before we finish this video. A bit of talk and conclusion.
Again, I’m not sure if you’ve seen it, but I love the idea that we now have free practice tests. It’s a great way to validate your knowledge and also to build confidence before an exam. I’m really happy that Microsoft provides those for free.
Again, I loved the quality of the stuff on Measure Up. I have nothing to say about the quality of Measure Up. They always provided good quality, good variety of questions.
I personally know many people that are working on those questions, so they’re good quality questions, but I just wish they were not the same price as the exam. And remember, practice assessments should be the final step in your learning journey. So make sure you have some real-life experience.
Make sure you study for the exam using either Microsoft Learn or a third-party resource such as Pluralsight or maybe in-person training. And at the end, do the practice test. This way, you can validate.

Passing a Microsoft certification exam always feels great! What doesn’t feel great? Studying for an exam that won’t exist anymore! Don’t worry! As usual, when it comes to Microsoft certifications and exams, I have you covered!
Read the highlights below to get a taste of what you can expect.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-video-highlights">Video Highlights</h2>
– Microsoft is just about to cut half its current portfolio right now. Microsoft currently has twelve different certification exams. It will go down to six. So if you want to make sure you’re not studying for an exam that’s about to be canceled. Also, learn about the latest exams because we’re also getting some new exams.
– The Teams Application Developer Associate will retire or have retired at this point in March 2023. For the general public, however, Microsoft partners can still take the MS-600 exam and certification until December 20 23. Microsoft did not announce any replacement. However, Microsoft did hint that there would be a new Microsoft 365 dev exam.
– Microsoft 365 Certified Security Administrator associate will retire in June 2023. Microsoft recommends that you focus on one of the exams from the Security, Compliance, and Identity Portfolio. No news yet if the AZ-500 will affect it.
– The exams MS-100 and 101 will be retired in July 2023. Instead of being an enterprise administrator expert, you will now just be a Microsoft 365 Certified Administrator Expert. You will still need an Associate Level prerequisite before you go pass the Expert Level Certification.
– Microsoft recommends focusing on the MS-203 and MS-700 exams instead. The exams will be retired again in July 2023. The exam page is not yet updated. However, the courseware retirement page is updated.
– Microsoft has been giving less and less importance to training new It professionals on Microsoft 365. Fewer exams mean fewer opportunities to get certified. For Microsoft, certifications are a marketing tool. I hope this will change in the future.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-video-transcript">Video Transcript</h2>
I am doing this video to make sure you’re not currently studying for an exam that Microsoft is just about to cancel, because there are some big changes coming, especially for the Modern Workplace exams, or Microsoft 365 exams. Microsoft is just about to cut half their current portfolio right now as I’m recording this video.
Microsoft currently has twelve different certification exams. It will go down to six, and the current portfolio that looks something like this will go down to something more like this. So if you want to make sure you’re not studying for an exam that’s just about to be canceled, and also you learn about all the latest exams because we’re also getting some new exams, which is exciting.
Make sure you watch the rest of the video right after the intro. First of all, before we talk about the new stuff, let’s do a quick recap of the current Microsoft 365 portfolio. Right now we have one fundamental level certification, five associate level certifications, two expert level certifications and two specialty level certifications.
As a summary, if we dive a bit deeper, the first certification is the Ms 900, Microsoft 365 Fundamentals Exam, which gives us the Microsoft 365 Certified Fundamentals Certification. This is an optional certification, but I highly recommend it before you move over to the Associate Level certifications. Now, if we talk Associate levels, our first exams are MD 100 and MD 101, which if you pass both of them will give you the modern Desktop Associate Certification.
We then have exam Ms 203, which gives us the messaging Administrator Associate certification. We then have Ms 500, which gives us the security Administrator Associate. We have the Ms 700 Managing Microsoft Teams exam, which gives us the teams administrator associate.
Then next up, Ms 600, which gives us the teams Developer Associate. So those are our associate level certifications. Then we have two different expert level certifications.
First of all, we need to have an eligible associate level Cert. Then we need to pass the Ms 100 and Ms 101 certification, which again, together those two exam plus a prerequisite will give us the Enterprise Administrator expert. We do have a second expert level certification, which is you need to have the team’s administrator associate.
So the Ms 700 plus the Ms 720 exam, which will give us the team’s voice Engineer expert. And for our specialty level exams, we have two of them. First of all, exam Ms 220, which if we pass it gives us the Exchange online Support Engineer specialty.
And the Ms 740 troubleshooting Microsoft teams, which if we pass it gives us the Teams Support Engineer specialty. So this is the current Modern Workplace portfolio as I’m recording this video. But things are about to change.
On February 1, Microsoft posted a blog post called evolving Microsoft 365 Certifications to help keep you in sync with a new era of work and they announced some of the portfolio changes in there. And I’ll make sure to add a link to this blog post in the description of this YouTube video. Okay, so what are our changes? First of all, for the Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, the certification name will change.
It will become Microsoft 365 certified Endpoint Administrator Associate. The MD 100 and 101 exams will retire in July 2023. So if you’re studying for those exams, you need to pass both of them before July 2023.
If not, they will be gone. They will be replaced by a single exam called MD 102 Endpoint Administrator. So the good news is that you will only need one single exam if you want to get the Endpoint Admin Associate certification.
So that’s the good news. And it will be available in beta starting in May 2023. So this is our first certification that will still be there, but will get an update.
Instead of two exams, it’ll be one exam and the name will change from Modern Desktop Administrator Associate to Endpoint Administrator Associate. Okay, next up, we have a retirement and a change. And let’s talk about the Team’s Voice Engineer Expert, which before you needed to have the Ms 700 and the Ms 720 to get this expert level certification.
Well, the Ms 720 exam and the related certification. So the team’s voice engineer expert will fully retire in June. Will fully retire in June.
2023. Instead, what Microsoft decided is to create a very similar role. So we will get a new exam and a certification, but the name will actually be called microsoft 365 Certified Collaboration Communication System Engineer Associate.
So this will be an associate level certification and it will add quite a few objectives, especially around meeting rooms and audiovisual installs, things like that to the list of evaluated objectives. The Ms 721 exam. So we will get this new exam called Ms 721.
This is available right away in beta at the time of recording this video again in April 2023. So if you’re interested in getting the new one, it’s available today. And I do have some good news for you as well.
Especially if you passed already the Ms 720 exam, you will automatically get the new certification. So if you are already a Team’s Voice Engineer Expert, you will automatically get the Collaboration Communications Systems Engineer Associate and you’ll be able to renew that certification for free for the next years. Of course, remember, we have to renew them every year now for free on Microsoft Learn.
Okay, next up, let’s switch over from administration, talk a bit about development, and we’ll talk about the Microsoft 365 Certified Teams Application Developer Associate Certification, the Ms 600 exam and its certification. So the Teams Application Developer Associate will retire or have retired at this point in March 2023. For the general public, however, the Ms 600 exam and certification can still be taken by Microsoft partners until December 2023.
Now you might find it super weird like Vlad, why would it be retired for the public but not for partners? That is because this certification is required for different Microsoft Partner program competitive for different Microsoft Partner program competencies competency. It’s because this exam is required for different Microsoft Partner program levels. So for example, I’m sure you’ve seen logos of companies saying we’re a Gold Partner or a Silver Partner.
Well, in order for them to get that Gold Partner or Silver Partner, they need to pass certain Microsoft exams and the Ms 600 was one of them. So that’s why if you work for a Microsoft Partner, you will need a Private Access code. So make sure to work with whoever manages the partner program with Microsoft in your company or with the Learning Partner that gave you the training.
This way, you get your Private Access code so you can still pass the exam until December 2023. Right now, Microsoft did not announce any replacement. However, Microsoft did hint that there will be a new Microsoft 365 dev exam.
So this is a quote from the blog post that I talked about a bit earlier. So what they said is that to focus on developing the right experience, will retire the certification and corresponding exam Ms 600 building Applications and Solutions with Microsoft 365 Core Services on March 31, 2023. The key is there at the bottom in green.
We’ll be sure to let you know when the new experience is available. So even if Microsoft did not say we will have a new exam, this is the number. Here’s everything you need to know.
They kind of hinted that we will have a new experience. Okay, so this is it for Ms 600. Next up, another retirement, the Ms 500 exam.
And the Microsoft 365 Certified Security Administrator associate will retire in June 2023. Microsoft recommends that you focus on one of the exams from the Security, Compliance, and Identity Portfolio. So the SC-900, 200, 300 or 400 and there are no news yet if the AZ-500 will affect and there are no news yet if the AZ-500 will suffer a similar fate.
Remember, before the Security, Compliance and Identity Portfolio even existed, we had three exams AZ-500, which was Azure Security and Compliance, and MS-500, which was Microsoft 365 Security and Compliance. And initially, when Microsoft announced the Security, Compliance and Identity Portfolio, a lot of people asked, hey, does that mean the MS-500 and SC-500? Does that mean the MS-500 and AZ-500 exams will go away? And at the time Microsoft said no, there is currently no plan to replace those certifications. So it seems they did have a change of heart in the past year and a half and now the Ms 500 is going away.
Okay, next up, we also have a change for our other expert-level certification. So the exams MS-100 and 101 will be retired in July 2023. The certification name will also change.
So instead of being an enterprise administrator expert, you will now just be a Microsoft 365 Certified Administrator Expert. Also, you will only need one single exam, the MS-102, which will be available in beta starting in May 2023. You will still need an Associate Level prerequisite before you go pass the Expert Level Certification.
Microsoft did not necessarily give us the full list, so I will give you what I think it will be a bit later in this video. But remember, you will still need an Associate Level Cert before you go take the Expert Level exam. Next up, we have again two more retirements the MS-220.
So the troubleshooting Microsoft Exchange online and the MS-740 troubleshooting Microsoft Teams courses and related certifications will expire. Will get retired in July 2023. Now, this might be a surprise for a lot of you.
Microsoft actually announced it to Training partners that those two exams and the related certifications will be retired again in July 2023. The exam page is not yet updated. However, the courseware retirement page is updated.
Microsoft recommends focusing on the MS-203 and MS-700 exams instead. Now, you might ask yourself, oh, Vlad, if Microsoft only announced it to Learning Partners, but it’s not yet on the exam page, can you talk about it? Usually, I couldn’t. Usually, all those announcements are under a nondisclosure agreement.
So even if I know about them, I cannot really talk about them until Microsoft makes the change on the public exam page. But for those two retirements, I asked specifically, microsoft gave me the go ahead to share this information for all of you. So I really wanted to put it in here and let you know that those two exams are going away.
So this way, don’t get me wrong, if you find it valuable and you want to learn from those exams, please go and do them. But I just want you to know that those exams and certifications will be going away in July 2023, and I would expect the exam page to be updated very shortly. Okay? So with all those changes, what will the modern workplace portfolio look like now? So from twelve exams, we will go to six exams.
One fundamental level exam. Four one fundamental level certification. Four associate level certifications, one expert level certification and no specialty level certifications.
Again, if we dive a bit deeper into the details, we will still have the Ms 900, Microsoft 365 Certified Fundamentals Assert, so that will still stay there. But then a lot of what happens next will change. So first of all, we will have Exam MD-102 Endpoint Administrator, that if we pass this one exam, we will get the Endpoint Administrator Associate Certification, then the MS-203 and MS-700, no change there.
So it’s our Exchange and Microsoft teams exams. Nothing changes there. We will then have exam MS-721 called Collaboration communications systems engineer.
And if we pass that exam, we will become a Collaboration Communications Systems Engineer associate. So again, this certification is a bit of a modification from the expert one we had before. But instead of being an expert, it’s only an associate-level certification now and no prerequisite.
So each one of those Associate exams, you don’t need the MS-900, it’s recommended, but you don’t need it. You can go directly pass those associate level exams and then we will have our expert level certification, which we will need exam MS-102, which would give us the Microsoft 365 Certified Administrator Expert. Now, you will notice I don’t have the MS-721 as a valid prerequisite because Microsoft did not yet confirm it.
So I’m not sure if it will be a valid prerequisite or not, but so far Microsoft confirmed, but so far all the three previous certifications were a valid prerequisite. I expect them to keep being valid prerequisites, but it remains to be seen if the MS-721 will be a valid prereq before going for the Administrator expert certification. Okay, so this is what the portfolio will look like after July 2023.
As you can see, we will still have all of the different core tools inside Microsoft 365. We will have teams, we will have Exchange. Unfortunately, no SharePoint.
I still think we should have Exchange teams and SharePoint as a separate search, but no SharePoint online. Still in there. But again, take a look at it.
This is what the Microsoft 365 certification portfolio will look like after July 2023. Okay? Now, what are some of my talks on this as we close out the video? Well, the number of exams doesn’t mean much alone, right? I’m sure a lot of you are looking at this a bit with a negative point of view because less exams means less opportunities to get certified. And I just want to put a bit of optimism that the number of exams alone doesn’t mean much.
However, I feel, and this is all personal, right? Personal opinion as Vlad, not as an MVP or an MCT regional lead. Personal opinion. Microsoft has been giving less and less importance to training new It professionals on Microsoft 365.
And that’s something that I’m personally really disappointed about, especially that except platform. I mean, Microsoft 365 brings a ton of money for Microsoft. It has a ton of usage.
We’re talking about hundreds of millions of monthly active users. And yet we’re cutting down on all of the different training opportunities that people have to learn Microsoft 365. Because remember, Microsoft will not really create any Microsoft official courses unless they’re for a Microsoft certification.
Now, there are multiple reasons why that might be. Does Microsoft consider that they have enough trained professionals that they don’t need to invest in training new ones? Because at the end of the day, let’s be honest here, for Microsoft, certifications are a marketing tool. They are a motivator for people to learn a platform, so then they can go to Microsoft clients and deploy it.
A client doesn’t want to work with a tube. A client would not want to work with a solution if there’s not enough skilled people out there to help them manage it. So certifications is a way for Microsoft to show clients that, hey, we have 250,000, let’s say, Teams administrators that are certified in the world.
So if you choose Teams, you will have the technical people you need to properly implement it. So does Microsoft now say that, hey, you know what, we have enough admins in the world that we don’t need to invest in training new ones. Or maybe we have such a big ownership of the market share that people will find a way to learn Microsoft 365 without us having to motivate them with certifications.
Those are, again, just some of my talks. And to back this up a bit, we can take a look at the Power platform. 
They have around 20 million monthly active users, yet they have more courses and certifications than Microsoft 365 as a whole. And only Teams has over ten times the active users of the Power platform. So as you can see, maybe Microsoft is more motivated to get people trained on the Power platform and get those numbers up, whereas Microsoft 365 has where Microsoft 365 already has so much market share and so many trained It professionals.
Again, one of my talks that hurts me a bit is that people that were SharePoint professionals before, people that were SharePoint professionals before, such as myself, that are evolving their skills to the cloud, are the ones that are the hardest hit, because SharePoint Online professionals. Because in the past, in the SharePoint on Prem days, we had SharePoint 2013 certifications, SharePoint 2016 certifications, SharePoint 2019 certifications, and then we even had an MS-300 Teamwork Administrator Certification, which covered SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Yammer Stream, and all of that. But Microsoft and Worldwide Learning decided that there is no future for Certified SharePoint and OneDrive for Business admins.
There is no training for them, and there is no certification for them even. And again, the Teamwork Admin got retired in August 2020, which was really, it really hurt me because so many people were trying to learn from SharePoint on Prem to SharePoint Online. But Microsoft canceled not only the certification but also the training for It.
And now the MS-600, Microsoft 365 developer, which was a great training and certification to get SharePoint devs that were creating firm solutions before to upgrade their skills to the cloud. And on purpose. I have the old name of the certification here, Microsoft 365 Developer, which later got changed to Teams Developer.
So really, I’m super disappointed to see those opportunities go away for old Sherpin professionals. And currently with the new and currently with the new certification portfolio, there is going to be nothing if you’re a SharePoint Online and OneDrive for business admin or even a SharePoint dev. And I really hope this will change in the future, but we’ll see where worldwide learning goes if we take a brief look at the Microsoft Certification portfolio again right now.
After those changes, Microsoft 365 will be the portfolio with the fewest number of certifications we will have. Not even half of Azure, not even half of Dynamics, a bit less than Power Platform, and around the same number and around the same number as Security, Compliance and Identity. But Microsoft 365, despite being one of the most used products, will have the least training and certification opportunities for It professionals.
Okay, so this has been a bit sad. I’m not sure if you can feel it from only a video, but it does hurt me a bit because I know how much training and certification can guide and help somebody’s career. So whenever certifications get retired, especially ones that I think shouldn’t, it does hurt me a bit.
But there is some more positive news coming for Modern Workplace. There will be some new content, a new role coming soon in the Modern Workplace portfolio, but I will make a dedicated video for that. So make sure you follow the channel, and make sure you like and subscribe.
This way, you’ll get notified as soon as that video goes live. But I wanted to get this video on exam retirements out before. So none of you are studying for exams that are about to disappear and get retired on this, I just wanted to say really quick, thank you.

Before we dive into the results, it’s important to understand what ChatGPT is. Simply put, it’s an AI language model developed by OpenAI that is capable of generating human-like responses to text prompts. 
It has been trained on a massive dataset of text from the internet and is capable of generating coherent and contextually relevant responses to a wide range of prompts. 
<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-what-s-covered-in-the-sc-900-exam">What’s Covered in the SC-900 Exam? </h3>
Now, let’s talk about the SC-900 Microsoft certification exam. This exam is designed to test a candidate’s knowledge of Microsoft’s security, compliance, and identity solutions. 
It is intended for individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in IT security or who are responsible for implementing and managing security solutions in their organization. 
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-testing-chatgpt-against-the-sc-900-practice-exam">Testing ChatGPT against the SC-900 Practice Exam</h2>
The SC 900 practice exam covers a range of topics, including Microsoft’s security solutions, compliance regulations, and identity management. We used the first 10 questions from the practice exam to determine ChatGPT’s potential of passing the practice test.
To conduct the test, we input each question into ChatGPT and evaluated its response. We then compared ChatGPT’s response to the correct answer provided by Microsoft. We repeated this process for all 10 questions. 
<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-did-chatgpt-pass">Did ChatGPT Pass? </h3>
The results of the test were surprising. ChatGPT was able to answer 8 out of the 10 questions correctly. This means that if ChatGPT were to take the SC-900 exam, it could potentially pass with a score of 80%.

It’s important to note that ChatGPT was not specifically trained on the content of the SC-900 exam. Instead, it was trained on a massive dataset of text from the internet. This means that ChatGPT’s ability to answer the questions correctly was based solely on its ability to understand the context of the questions and generate a relevant response.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-my-thoughts-on-the-microsoft-sc-900-practice-test-results">My Thoughts on the Microsoft SC-900 Practice Test Results  </h2>
While the results of this test are impressive, it’s important to keep in mind that ChatGPT is not a substitute for human expertise.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-chatgpt-can-t-take-the-microsoft-sc-900-exam-or-any-other-exam-for-you">ChatGPT can’t take the Microsoft SC-900 exam, or any other exam for you</h3>
The SC-900 exam is designed to test a candidate’s knowledge of Microsoft’s security, compliance, and identity solutions. It requires a deep understanding of these topics and the ability to apply that knowledge in real-world scenarios. In addition, the exams have proctors so don’t get any funny ideas.
ChatGPT, on the other hand, is an AI language model that is capable of generating responses based on the context of a given prompt. While it can provide useful information and insights, it cannot replace the expertise of a human who has a deep understanding of the subject matter.
That being said, the results of this test do suggest that ChatGPT has the potential to be a useful tool for individuals who are simply looking to understand how studying for the SC-900 exam.

ChatGPT could be used as a tool for organizations to assess the knowledge of their employees. By inputting questions related to their security, compliance, and identity solutions, organizations can evaluate their employees’ understanding of these topics and identify areas where additional training may be needed.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-final-thoughts">Final thoughts</h3>
It’s important to note that while ChatGPT was able to answer 8 out of the 10 questions correctly, there were still some areas where it struggled. For example, one of the questions asked about the best way to prevent different departments from talking to each other. ChatGPT’s response was not relevant to the question and did not provide the correct answer.

This highlights the limitations of ChatGPT and the importance of human expertise in certain areas. While ChatGPT is capable of generating responses based on the context of a given prompt, it may not always provide the most accurate or relevant information.

In conclusion, testing ChatGPT against the first 10 questions of the Microsoft SC-900 certification exam yielded some interesting results. While ChatGPT was able to answer 8 out of the 10 questions correctly, it’s important to keep in mind that it is not a substitute for human expertise.
ChatGPT has the potential to be a useful tool for individuals who are studying for the SC-900 exam or for organizations to assess the knowledge of their employees. In the past few months Pluralsight has released a ton of Power Platform courses, both brand new ones, as well as updates to old ones, as the technology keeps changing, and Microsoft releases new certifications! I am glad to say that the PL-100 path is now published for those of you looking to pass the PL-100 certification exam!
<blockquote class="wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow">This path covers certification objectives for the Microsoft Power Platform App Maker (PL-100). Candidates for this exam are able to use data and understand issues that need resolving within their organization. They can use this knowledge to imagine, simplify, and automate tasks and processes for their team and organization using the required processes and app experiences. The candidate is capable of working autonomously, not necessarily requiring formal IT training, but comfortable using technology to create solutions for their business. Being an advocate for Power Platform solutions is key, as is familiarity and ability to apply features of Power Platform apps as well as other apps such as: Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365 apps and services, and any third-party solutions.</blockquote>
