The latest rumors, including even more on the infamous Charlotte Flair/Tiffany Stratton segment, internal WWE reaction to Tony Hinchcliffe’s Raw appearance, Kelly Kelly news, and more!

Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that — rumors. None of this has been confirmed as fact, it’s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track rumor accuracy in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back you can find here.
Rumors for the Day:

Fightful Select notes that the feeling among those in WWE is Charlotte Flair went off script first but Tiffany Stratton may have crossed a line in her equally unscripted response on SmackDown. The divorce talk and Ludwig Kaiser DM response was not approved beforehand. There were no issues backstage once it was done, however, and everyone is moving forward now.

Tony Hinchcliffe’s appearance on Raw commentary this week “came across as a dud” even to those backstage at WWE, says Fightful.

They also say Kelly Kelly has signed a Legends contract with WWE.

In an interview with Bill Apter, Lex Luger said he still doesn’t know if Sting will be allowed to induct him into the WWE Hall of Fame but he wants him to do so alongside Diamond Dallas Page.

For what it’s worth, Saraya told WrestleZone that she hasn’t spoken to WWE since leaving AEW.

I knew Stephanie Vaquer would pick Jordynne Grace and Jaida Parker rather than just one of them for a match at Stand & Deliver. What I didn’t know is that she’d also pick Giulia. To predict that, I’d have to know Giulia would not only come back this week, but attack her best friend after helping her clear Jordynne and Jaida out of the ring.

This is all to say that the match between Jordynne and Jaida ended in a no contest because Jaida hit Stephanie—who sat ringside—which prompted Stephanie to respond and get into it with both women. Before that little bit of hell broke loose, Jaida and Jordynne brawled. They started the match throwing fists and rolled out of the ring pounding each other. That vibe continued for most of the short contest, which always works for me because it expresses the stakes without words.

But we have to talk about Giulia. She wants her championship back and says when it comes to that title, there are no friends. So it wasn’t a heel turn so much as it was business. At least that’s how I read it. But we’ll see how the territory carries this out next week going into the big show. Giulia adds a different dynamic as her relationship with Stephanie is now a tad frosty. Does the champ let her emotions get the better of her? Does she focus so much on Ms. Madness that she neglects her other opponents? And does she feel betrayed or does she see it the way any Corleone with their name would?

This is definitely the right call; a Fatal 4 Way featuring three women who solidified their names around the world, and an up-and-coming star who is clearly ready for the big time. And no, I’m not letting my favoritism towards Jaida cloud that sentence. I don’t think she wins because I don’t see Stephanie leaving Las Vegas (no pun intended) without the gold around her waist. But this is a big spot for Jaida and I trust she’ll deliver.

As usual, the women’s division feels more vibrant and alive.

Guess what? Oba Femi, Trick Williams, & Je’Von Evans could not coexist! Shocker, right? The video above shows what happened and when it all went south for a team never destined to do anything but implode. But therein lies my problem: What does it matter that they loss?

Darkstate is still an ill-defined group. Are they rabble rousers taking over? Are they agents of chaos just for the chaos sake? Are they fully sanctioned by NXT since they have theme music, spotlights, and graphics? Does Ava dislike them or is she indifferent? Is it a big deal they defeated three guys who don’t get along and already have a match scheduled for the biggest show of the year? Does it even matter that Oba and Trick battled while leaving Je’Von by his lonesome to take the pin? Does that suddenly make Je’Von want to win a championship more? Will his distaste for both men grow more sour?

The L changes nothing about the equation because there was nothing on the line. This wasn’t to get Darkstate contracts or some sort of power; this was Ava’s way to punish them for invading her arena. Why she picked three people who dislike each other as her instruments of vengeance is beyond me. Especially when the logical pick, The D’Angelo Family, waited in the wings. It’s a riddle I can’t solve and I really shouldn’t have to.

Speaking of Tony D’s crew, they get Darkstate next week in the parking lot. That should at least be fun. But until they put more meat on the bones as it relates to this crew’s intention, it will just be the fun one gets from empty calories.

Deep Cuts

Not gonna front: I had no desire to write about Swipe Right. The gimmick makes me roll my eyes so hard I’m surprised they don’t get stuck. But they were mad impressive against Nathan Frazer & Axiom. This was a perfect showcase for the Evolve crew. The tag champs took them lightly, which provided the perfect launchpad for a team defined by confidence to catch the champs slipping. This was fast paced, crisp, and a nice little action movie in the middle of NXT. Swipe Right loss because of that arrogance, but they made their opponents fight for that win. That’s the story and it’s a good one for guys who are working their way up the ladder. There’s a saying in wrestling about maximizing minutes. Brad Baylor & Ricky Smokes did that and then some. I’ve never been so annoyed at myself in my life.

Are Fatal Influence’s days numbered? The Toxic Attraction cosplay group that never really established an identity is showing some tears at the seams. Fallon Henley wanted a spot in the North American championship qualifier tournament. But so did Cora Jade. And so did Jazmyn Nyx. Jazmyn got the nod and faced Sol Ruca, but not before a mini squabble ensued amongst her crew. Cora noted that Fallon had her chance but dropped the ball. Jazmyn said they both needed to step aside and let her shine. Well, if one shines by losing, then Jazmyn is a comet. During her match with Sol, Jazmyn went to her teammates for a little advice. They had none, she took her eye off the ball, and Sol made her pay the price. Sol goes on to Stand & Deliver while it looks like Fatal Attraction will spend their Mania weekend on the Vegas strip.

Izzi Dame is joining her. They’re really leaning into Shawn Spears as a cult leader. I really got a Jim Jones vibe from son as he told his crew that he isn’t upset about losing the championship since it was a means to an end. That end? Putting them together. It’s not about him but them. And this week, they’re all in on Izzi getting a win over Wren Sinclair and qualifying for the Stand & Deliver ladder match. Pretty solid match but nothing to write home about. It served its purpose and put Izzi in the big match.

Good on NXT for reestablishing the North American championship picture quickly. Ricky Starks called out Ethan Page but instead got Lexis King, Wes Lee, and Eddy Thorpe. Oh, and Eddy Thorpe is a wild boy for calling Lexis “another greedy white man who’s not content with what he already has.” Wes Lee’s face during that moment was priceless. Ethan eventually showed up because he’s a snake who does snake things and Ricky paid the price. I hope this doesn’t mean we’re getting every single one of these guys in one match at Stand & Deliver since we’ve already got a multiple multi wrestler matches on the card. But I have no faith in that wish coming true. Hope, as it turns out, is not a strategy.

This was a solid show when it comes to the women and just fine when it comes to the men. The territory isn't quite firing on all cylinders at the right moment because, much like the main roster, the stories aren’t fully there. Which is probably one reason for a lot of multi-person matches.

What say you, Cagesiders? Does the D’Angelo Family get their revenge next week or does Darkstate make things...darker?

Giulia is back so, naturally, it’s now a Fatal 4-Way.

When Stephanie Vaquer won the women’s NXT championship from Giulia, and the latter disappeared from television, there was talk there could be visa issues or an injury. Literally anything to explain making Vaquer a double champion on a strange title change just weeks before the biggest show of the year.

As it turns out, none of it matters because Giulia is already back and inserting herself into the title picture once more.

Indeed, she showed up just after the Jordynne Grace vs. Jaida Parker match that was supposed to find a potential top contender to Vaquer at Stand & Deliver on April 19, 2025, in Las Vegas. She came to Vaquer’s aid initially but quickly attacked the champion, making clear that she wanted her belt back.

And when the time comes, there will be no friendship.

NXT GM Ava went for it after Vaquer demanded all three opponents, and the Fatal 4-Way is now official!

They defeated Jazmyn Nyx and Wren Sinclair to book their tickets.

When the women’s North American championship was relinquished by Stephanie Vaquer, NXT General Manager Ava decided the best way to crown a new champion would be a ladder match at the upcoming Stand & Deliver premium live event scheduled for April 19, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada. That meant qualifying matches.

They got underway last week with Zaria and Kelani Jordan punching their ticket and two more women joined them this week.

First, Sol Ruca used the Sol Snatcher to take care of business against Jazmyn Nix in a result that should surprise no one.

Later, Izzi Dame pinned Wren Sinclair after a Liger Bomb to continue heating her up on the way to what could be a legitimate push for The Culling member.

That gives us four of the six entrants in the match. There’s just two qualifiers remaining, and those are scheduled for next week.

Fighting over a suplex, Grace rams her into the corner a few times, Jaida turns things around and hits the slingshot seated senton to send us to break!

Back from commercial, jockeying for position in the turnbuckles, back to the mat, reversals, Tombstone suplex from Grace! Following it up with a big neckbreaker, still only two! To the floor, Jordynne comes up short on a dive and shoves Parker into Vaquer at ringside!

Grace back on her feet, Stephanie takes a swing at Jaida but hits Jordynne, the match breaks down...

He says if Trick Williams and Oba Femi had listened to him in the first place this wouldn’t be happening and they can lil bro him all they want but he’s dropped Oba twice and he’s gonna take it step by step. Tonight, Dark State, at Stand and Deliver, the NXT Championship.

We see Ricky Saints arriving at the arena and we go to break.

Back from commercial, Ricky Saints makes his entrance and gets on the mic.

He says the first night he was here he said he came to turn this place upside down. He told us that the revolution would be televised and you would get an absolute superstar, and he’s a man of his word because he’s standing here with the NXT North American Championship. But unfortunately he’s got a bitter taste in his mouth from “All Ego” Ethan Page.

But he gets it, if he had somebody come in and do what he did quicker and better, his little ego would be shattered too, and Ethan had to go and ruin a special moment of his, but he’s no punk so he calls All Ego out to chat about it man-to-man.

He gets Lexis King instead, and we are all disappointed.

King says he’s worried about the wrong guy, because he loves gold and he’d love to put a little extra—

Enter Eddy Thorpe. Sure, why not.

He congratulates Saints and says it must be nice to walk in here and get handed opportunities while everyone else is starving, and that North American Championship represents the land that was stolen from his people, and that title is his birthright.

Enter Wes Lee, accompanied by Tyson Dupont and Tyriek Igwe.

He says you can’t have a conversation about the NXT North American Championship without including him, because his reign was the peak. They bicker about it, Rick says now isn’t the time, and All Ego rushes in and lays him out with Twisted Grin!

All four heels try to pick the title up at once and they brawl among themselves.

Stephanie Vaquer meets with Ava Raine backstage and says she wants to face all three of her challengers at Stand and Deliver, and Ava accepts this to send us to break.

Back from commercial, Trick Williams is interviewed backstage.

He says there’s always been somebody in the way of getting what’s his but you just need to look at his resume to see that he can get it done. He’s concerned about how tonight goes and tells Femi and Evans to bring it but reminds them at Stand and Deliver he’s gonna whoop all their asses.

Wes Lee vs. Yoshiki Inamura

Lee dives during entrances but Inamura catches him! Bell rings, Wes lights him up with punches, shoved off, shoulder block, chops and slaps but Inamura shrugs ‘em off and clobbers him! Whip across, duck under the lariat, upkick, back body drop puts Lee on the apron but he chokes Yoshiki over the ropes! Slingshot somersault seated senton, cover for two!

Big back body drop from Inamura, lining him up, charging in with palm strikes to set up a Violence Party in the corner! Front chancery, slap to the back, vertical lift, Wes throws knees, Inamura down on one knee but he hooks the leg and completes it as a fisherman suplex for two!

Lee comes back, Josh Briggs gives his buddy a pep talk and Wes dives on him! Gamengiri to Yoshiki, diving crossbody caught, revolution bodyslam! Inamura up top, Tyson and Tyriek run interference, Yoshiki falls down...

Wes Lee wins by pinfall with the Cardiac Kick.

Oba Femi cuts a promo on Dark State backstage and promises to take care of them before turning his attention back to Je’Von Evans and Trick Williams, who will suffer the same fate— defeat at the hands of Oba Femi.

And so we go to break.

Izzi Dame vs. Wren Sinclair (NXT Women’s North American Championship Qualifying Match)

Dame hot out the gates, working Sinclair over, she floats over a slam, O’Connor roll denied, off the ropes, crossbody right into a nearfall! Working a wristlock, trying repeated pining predicaments, nothing works! Whip reversed, Wren with an octopus hold! Izzi out, clubbing away, Sinclair slips out, chops ahoy!

Duck a lariat, off the ropes, big shove, running neck snap, cover for two! Underhooks, blocked, reverse a slam into a crucifix for two! Duck a boot, Dame catches her...

Meta-Girls, Roxanne Perez, and Fatal Influence are backstage chatting with Ava Raine about a last-chance qualifier but Ava says there isn’t gonna be one this year.

She has a different idea but doesn’t tell us what it is, and we go to break.

Back from commercial, Andre Chase walks in on Kale Dixon and Uriah Connors watching tape of themselves and offers some advice before second-guessing himself. They convince him to give him help and they chat as the camera focus moves.

Hank and Tank come in upset at their most recent loss and the Street Profits roll up to give them a pep talk, saying they’re spending too much time trying to be other tag teams when they just need to be themselves, and next week there’s a gauntlet match to determine Fraxiom’s challengers at Stand and Deliver, so it’s time to lock in, boys!

Commentary hypes up that and more for next week.

Je’Von Evans, Trick Williams, and Oba Femi make their entrances, stepping on each other’s music and being generally unhappy about being in a relevos increibles match together, and we go to break.

Dark State (Cutler James, Dion Lennox, & Saquon Shugars) vs. Je’Von Evans, Oba Femi, & Trick Williams (Relevos Increibles)

Dark State brawling out the gates, Lennox starts with Femi and we get a bell! Tag to James, tag to Shugars, he floats over a slam, big boot, Oba tags Trick in! Williams with a schoolboy, roll into a cover for two! Jumping neckbreaker, Williams fired up, Cutler comes in and cuts him down with a lariat for two!

James with a sleeper hold, dropping it into a backbreaker, scoop and a slam! Ankle lock applied, Trick breaks free with kicks, tag to Saquon, back body drop, Williams doesn’t want to make a tag! Straight suplex on Shugars, cover for two, back to the front chancery. Williams gets him in the corner for chops, scoop and a slam!

Snapmare, tag to Evans, leapfrog, clear the apron, big tijeras and a spinebuster into mounted punches on Saquon! Chops, Shugars cuts him off with a knee but Je’Von trips him up for a double stomp! James comes in, Je’Von rolls away from him, snapmare, superkick pushes through his damn skull! Arabian press tijeras, Dion runs in, dropkicks for everybody, Oba and Trick work together to put Cutler on the floor!

Osiris Griffin on the apron, joined by the rest of his stablemates, the two teams jaw at each other and we go to break!

Back from commercial, Evans on the wrong side of town but he fights back, rolls under, Cutler drops him with a lariat and claws at his face! Continuing to work Je’Von over, he’s trying his best to open the door, counter a back suplex into a crossbody, enzuigiri takes Lennox off his feet and the path is clear!

Femi with the hot tag, throwing Shugars into Williams! Pop-up powerbomb on Dion but Trick comes in to confront the Ruler! Je’Von yells at them to get back on track but they trade punches and Oba Cactus Clotheslines them to the floor! Evans tags in, frog splash... DION LENNOX KICKS OUT!

Saquon pulls the ropes to keep him from springboarding, Trick and Oba are getting pulled apart, Shugars off the second...

Dark State win by pinfall with a springboard triple powerbomb on Je’Von Evans.

Post-match, Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo appears on the tron and challenges Dark State to a fight in the parking lot for next week and promises they’ll find out that messing with the D’Angelo Family has severe consequences.

That’s the show, folks.

What star rating does this match deserve?

Welcome to Cageside Community Star Ratings for Dynasty 2025!

For some wrestling fans, star ratings are a way of life. It’s one thing to say that a match is good or bad, but can you actually put a number on it?

The star rating system is a scale ranging from 0 to 5 with increments of 0.25. A five star match is as close to perfect as it gets while a zero star match is a complete dud.

Determining the star rating for a given match is a highly subjective process. In general the goal is to wrap up all the important elements of a match into one simple number. Some factors to consider may include the story and booking of the match, the workrate of the performers, ring psychology, length of the match, audience reaction, and so forth.

The purpose of Cageside Community Star Ratings is for the readers to assign star ratings to every single match on a given AEW pay-per-view event. There is no such thing as a wrong answer, because every wrestling fan consumes this art form in a different way.

The next match up for debate from Dynasty is Death Riders (PAC, Wheeler Yuta, Claudio Castagnoli) vs. Rated FTR (Adam “Cope” Copeland, Dax Harwood, Cash Wheeler).

Please select a star rating in the poll below and discuss your thoughts on this match in the comments section.

This interview is actually a week old, but the internet moves fast. We want to make sure you didn’t want this incredibly important news too though, so...

Over the past couple years, NXT Women’s champion Stephanie Vaquer has gone from only being known by lucha libre and joshi* fans to being one of WWE’s fastest rising stars. There are lots of reasons for Vaquer’s skyrocketing popularity, but it’s difficult to argue that her headscissors-into-multiple-facebusters move isn’t one of them.

You probably know what I’m talking about, but I’m not the best moves describer**. Here are a couple angles from Stephanie’s use of it during her big breakout (re)match against Mercedes Moné at last year’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door PPV (courtesy of @schadentekkers):

But*** what’s the move called? O’Shea Jackson and TJ Jefferson of the No-Contest Wrestling podcast didn’t know either, so they closed out their interview with La Primera by asking her. Vaquer didn’t have one herself, but is going with the name NXT’s head trainer came up with for it:

“Matt Bloom, coach, says ‘Devil’s Kiss’... I love this name.”

The hosts brought up the fact that Charlotte Flair does a similar version of the move (it does start in a Figure Four headlock), but Stephanie says she didn’t know that before joining WWE. She also thinks she brings her own assets**** to the move:

“People ask me about the name, but I don’t really have a name for the move because it’s weird. I try to mix many things, for example my finisher is a combination, so I try to find a new wrestling style and make new things. Sometimes I’m asked about the name and I say, ‘I don’t know,’ because I’ve never seen it before. But now, I know because I saw a video for Charlotte, but I didn’t know. I really didn’t know... I think it’s a bit different [laughs]... It’s not the same. Similar, but not the same.”

So there you have it. Thoughts on Stephanie Vaquer and the Devil’s Kiss? Keep it clean, ya filthy animals.

RVD wants us to tell you what he thinks is ‘the worst part about AEW’

After his criticism of Jon Moxley’s spot on Dynamite got a lot of blowback online, Rob Van Dam said he hopes his quote about ‘the fans on IWC’ gets picked up.

Rob Van Dam was one of many who took issue with Jon Moxley being suplexed into a nail-studded board during his AEW World title match with Adam Copeland on the March 19 Dynamite.

Like any “take” on the internet, it drew a reaction. But partly because RVD is a WWE Hall of Famer who’s appeared on that company’s shows more recently than an AEW one, but mostly because he said the Mox spot made him “feel like I would rather be associated with WWE than AEW”, Van Dam’s comments put him smack dab in the middle of the never-ending online war between AEW and WWE tribalists.

RVD took to Twitter (took to X just... sounds like a whole different thing) and addressed what he thought were the most “ignorant” attacks and counterarguments coming his way. That probably didn’t slow the stream of invective, but it did make it clear Van Dam didn’t think much of the folks sending it his way.

That’s even more evident in his remarks on the issue from the latest episode of his 1 of a Kind podcast, of which RVD said, “I hope this quote gets picked up”:

“If your perspective was that you think that I was bashing AEW, boom, you’re wrong. Raise your hand if that’s what you think. Okay, now I didn’t bash AEW, I wouldn’t bash AEW and it seems to me by far, the worst part about AEW and I hope this quote gets picked up, is the fans on IWC. The fans are so ignorant.”

The use of “IWC” (internet wrestling community) as a derogatory term or a way to separate the wrestling pundit or fan using it from other online-types has always been... odd. If you’re posting or consuming content about wrestling online, and certainly if you’re commenting on what others are doing or saying on the wrestle web, you’re part of the group you’re describing. But we understand the short-hand, since we imagine Van Dam isn’t talking about comments agreeing with him, or just arguing the case with sound points and not attacking him.

He goes on to restate his side of the argument, and address some of the examples he’s been sent from his own career in an attempt to score points in said argument. It probably won’t clean up his mentions, but...

“I’m gonna tell you what I did say, okay? My whole career, in ECW, even before that, the matches that Sabu taught me were ‘garbage matches’ which included all the weapons and gore and had wrestlers that didn’t even have to know how to wrestle to be in the match, okay? Those have always been at the bottom of the list of my favorite matches. That’s my opinion. If you don’t think I have a right to say that because I was in ECW, not only does that not make any sense, but you’re one of the idiots that needs to realize that there’s room to learn.

“So here’s the thing – those matches, especially the ones that have, like thumbtacks, glass, fire, fishhooks and when they have the competitors in there that don’t do a single wrestling move, and they don’t even have to know how to wrestle, quote: ‘To me, that’s not wrestling.’ The more AEW does things like that, like the Jon Moxley spiked bat thing, and I think that they’re heading in that direction more, and I think WWE is heading into more like, old school WWE storytelling in the ring and less of let’s stick a [needle] through someone’s cheek, burn their house down, go for shock value, the more that they seem to be two separate styles, which I’m fine with, the more I personally would rather have RVD, the wrestler associated with WWE.

“Now, if you heard that and you still feel like I’m bashing AEW, you need to check yourself. You’re way too defensive because I’m not even bashing that spot. I don’t like that spot, but the people don’t understand. The fans are so challenged that they hit me with things, you know, like, ‘Well, if you did that kind of stuff and you’re saying you don’t like it, you’re a hypocrite.’ That’s not what a hypocrite is.”

The contrast to WWE storytelling is where RVD gets himself in trouble. It’s at least somewhat inaccurate, as while WWE does seem to have moved away from “cinematic” story beats and shock tactics like Rey Mysterio & Seth Rollins’ “Eye For An Eye” match on the main roster, they can still be found — especially if you look in NXT, where kidnappings are regular occurrences and the parking lot is its own character*. But really it was just the mention of WWE; unless you want to be at the center of an “IWC” sh*ts-storm, avoid inter-company comparisons in your wrestling commentary. It shouldn’t necessarily be that way, and everyone definitely needs to do a much better job of keeping things in perspective... but as Bruce Hornsby told us 80’s kids, that’s just the way it is.

Van Dam closed things out by updating us on his relationship with AEW’s owner, president & head of creative... and getting in another shot at the folks who got him all riled up in the first place:

“And by the way I didn’t quit AEW… I had a single, standalone per match contract each time. In fact I did talk to Tony recently. We have a great relationship, We have a great relationship and the AEW fans that don’t understand it, it’s because you’re dumb and you don’t know how dumb you are.”
