51.
After making its global debut in early July, the Nothing Phone (3) has officially landed here in Malaysia less than two weeks later. Nothing’s CEO and founder, Carl Pei, calls the Phone (3) the company’s first “true-flagship “ smartphone, and despite its controversial new design, it does pack some upgrades over the Phone (2). Let’s take a deeper dive after the jump.

 72.
With the Nothing Phone (3), Nothing decided to kill off the Glyph Lights design, which has been with all of Nothing’s smartphones prior to this, including the Phone (2) and Phone (3a) series.

 73.
Taking its place is what the company calls Glyph Matrix. It’s essentially a circular matrix LED display consisting of 489 LEDs, located at the top right of the phone’s back panel. It can do things like notify you of notificsations using combinations of sound and light for each contact, function as a camera countdown, volume indicator, torch, and even recording light.

 79.
Also included with the Glyph Matrix are Glyph Toys, which can be seen as interactive widgets. At launch, the “toys” include “spin the bottle”, “rock paper scissors”, and “magic 8 ball”. The Glyph Matrix can also be used to display the time and function as a stopwatch. Nothing has also made the SDK for Glyph Matrix public, allowing thurd-party developers to create more Glyph Toys for users to “play” with.

 86.
Powering the Nothing Phone (3) is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset. So no, this isn’t a true flagship processor, which is the Snapdragon 8 Elite. With that said, the Phone (3) is still Nothing’s latest flagship, but not necessary a true flagship phone in terms of performance. In Malaysia, the Phone (3) can be had with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

 87.
The Nothing Phone (3)’s rear camera layout might have sparked a lot of strong opinions, but what’s undeinbable is that this is an upgrade when compared to the Nothing Phone (2)’s dual camera setup.

 88.

 89.
Sporting three shooters at the back, this consist of a 50MP f/1.68 main camera with a 1/1.3″ Sony sensor and OIS, which Nothing says lets in 44% more light when compared tonthe Phone (2). Next up, you get a 50MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera with a 1/2.76″ sensor, as well as a 50MP f/2.68 OIS-equipped periscope telephoto shooter that comes with a 1/2.75″ sensor. For selfies, you get a 50MP f/2.2 camera.

 90.
Supplying power to the Nothing Phone (3) is a 5,150mAh battery that can be charged at 65W via USB-C, or at 15W via a Qi wireless charger. The phone can also do reverse wired charging at 7.5W and reverse wireless charging at 5W.

 91.

 92.
Out of the box, the Nothing Phone (3) runs Nothing OS 3.5 based on Android 15, and is promised with up to 5 years of major OS updates and 7 yeras of security patch updates. The brand also mentioned that Nothing OS 4.0, which is built on Android 16 is scheduled for release in Q3 2025.

 136.

 137.
Amazon’s annual Prime Day sale is wrapping up today, offering up the last chance to nab one of the best deals in VR gaming.

 138.
Launched last October, Quest 3S is normally priced at $300 for the 128 GB variant, and $400 for the 256 GB variant. It supports all of the same virtual and mixed reality games as Quest 3, albeit in a slightly bulkier (and cheaper) package.

 139.
Now, on the last day of Prime Day, you can still grab both versions at a modest discount, bringing Quest 3S to $250 and $330 respectively.

 140.

 141.
Note: bundles on offer vary slightly, with the 128 GB version packed in with an exclusive Gorilla Tag software bundle, which includes a set of free in-game items for VR’s most popular game, as well as 1,000 Shiny Rocks, Gorilla Tag’s in-game currency.

 142.
While the 256 GB is advertised as arriving with a free copy of the award-winning Quest 3 exclusive Batman: Arkham Shadow (2024), it’s important to note Meta includes the game with both Quest 3S variants.

 143.
There are a few other limited time deals on accessories too, including:

 144.
Watch out. There are some dedicated hardware bundles offered through the Quest 3S Amazon listing, including Quest 3S bundles with Elite Strap, Elite Strap with Battery, Quest Link Cable, and Carry Case—although they don’t come in any cheaper than buying the headset and your chosen accessory separately.

 145.
This isn’t technically the biggest discount we’ve seen on Quest 3S—its lowest was on Black Friday last November when you could nab a 128GB version for $300 with a handy $75 Amazon Gift Card.

 146.
Still, it’s a great deal if you’re looking to jump into a host of virtual and mixed reality content, like Quest 3 natives Asgard’s Wrath 2, Skydance’s BEHEMOTH, and Metro Awakening. As with all Quests, you can also hook up a VR-ready PC and play games like Half-Life: Alyx, Skyrim VR, and the original Asgard’s Wrath.

 147.
If you’re still on the fence, make sure to check out our deep dive review of Quest 3S, where we noted that even at $300, it’s simply a value that can’t be beat.

 185.
True to Nothing’s design DNA, the Nothing Headphone (1) sports the brand’s iconic transparent look with a unique cassette-inspired design. Available in either Black or White, it features an aluminium and polycarbonate build and weighs 329g.

 186.
For controls, the Nothing Headphone (1) sports a total of three hardware input methods — roller, paddle, and button. 199.
For its sound, Nothing has collaborated with audio company KEF to tune the Headphone (1). Equipped with a custom 40mm driver, the Headphone (1) supports AAC, SBC, and LDAC audio codecs, enabled via its Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity. Just in case you prefer to listen to your music using an audio cable, the Nothing Headphone (1) also come equipped with USB-C lossless and 3.5mm audio ports.

 200.
For more customisation options, you can pair the Nothing Headphone (1) with the Nothing X App, which offers features such as an advanced 8-band EQ, dual connection, and low-latency mode. With a 1,040mAh battery, Nothing reckons its over-ear headphones can last up to 80 hours of playback with ANC off, and 35 hours with ANC on.

 269.
Light fields are significant to AR and VR because they’re a genuine representation of how light exists in the real world, and how we perceive it. Unfortunately they’re difficult to capture or generate, and arguably even harder to display.

 270.
Every AR and VR headset on the market today uses some tricks to try to make our eyes interpret what we’re seeing as if it’s actually there in front of us. Most headsets are using basic stereoscopy and that’s about it—the 3D effect gives a sense of depth to what’s otherwise a scene projected onto a flat plane at a fixed focal length.

 271.
Such headsets support vergence (the movement of both eyes to fuse two images into one image with depth), but not accommodation (the dynamic focus of each individual eye). That means that while your eyes are constantly changing their vergence, the accommodation is stuck in one place. Normally these two eye functions work unconsciously in sync, hence the so-called ‘vergence-accommodation conflict’ when they don’t.

 272.
Some headsets include ‘varifocal’ approaches, dynamically shifting the focal length based on where you’re looking (with eye-tracking), such as Magic Leap One as well as older Meta prototype VR headsets—supporting a larger number of focal lengths. Even so, these varifocal approaches still have some inherent issues that arise because they aren’t actually displaying light fields.

 283.
“As AI reshapes how we work and create, AR is poised to become the killer interface to this new era,” says Tomas Sluka, CEO and co-founder of Creal. “But if we’re going to wear AR glasses all day, they must imperatively be healthy, comfortable, and natural to use. That’s why we’re focused on delivering AR glasses that uniquely project digital imagery with real-world depth — fully supporting the natural focusing mechanism of the human eye. This is one of the key foundations for immersive spatial computing.”

 284.
Creal says the fresh funding round will help the Écublens, Switzerland-based company continue R&D on its AR light field module, which the company aims to integrate into lightweight, fashionable AR glasses—first for enterprise, and later for consumers.

 285.
This also includes ongoing support of a licensing agreement with Zeiss, kicked off in late 2024, to bring its light field-based vision care platform to Zeiss, which it will be used in Zeiss’ next-gen diagnostic and treatment devices.

 362.
GAC Aion Y Plus EV can now be obtained in Malaysia at a much lower price than before. Made its debut at the Malaysia Autoshow 2024, the electric crossover SUV was the first GAC Aion product to be released on our shores.

 363.

 364.
At that time, the Y Plus Elite was priced at RM119,800 while the higher-end Y Plus Premium could be obtained for RM135,800. Now, you can get the EV for as low as RM95,000 according to GAC Aion Malaysia’s website, although its Facebook page lists a slightly higher figure at RM95,800.

 365.
Customers will be provided with a free portable EV charger, according to the promotional poster. Just like before, the EV still comes with an 8-year / 160,000km vehicle warranty alongside a separate 8-year / 200,000km warranty for its high-voltage battery, motor, and electric control.

 373.
Both GAC Aion Y Plus variants come standard with a 150kW (201hp) electric motor that also produces 225Nm of torque. The EV can go from 0 to 100km/h in 8.5 seconds, although its official maximum speed was not mentioned in the specs sheet for the Malaysian market.

 374.
Both variants are powered by a 63.2kWh LFP battery pack, which allows them to deliver up to 490km of range, although this figure is based on a more lenient NEDC standard. Under the WLTP standard, the range is rated much lower at 430km.

 429.

430.

 431.

 432.
The League of Legends Titans Cup MY & SG is officially coming to Malaysia and Singapore, and registration is now open. Announced by Riot Games in partnership with Malaysian esports production house Easy Onair, this new national-level tournament is set to revive the competitive LoL scene across both countries.

 433.
More than just a tournament, the Titans Cup is being positioned as the official qualifying pathway into the League of Legends Championship Pacific (LCP), the new top-tier regional league for LoL in Asia Pacific.

 434.
What is the Titans Cup?

 435.
The Titans Cup is part of Riot’s two-year plan to rebuild the MYSG competitive ecosystem from the ground up. It offers open registration, meaning any eligible player or team from Malaysia and Singapore can participate.

 436.
The format includes:

 437.

 438.
Group stages

 439.
Playoffs

 440.
Grand Finals

 441.

 442.
The winning team will qualify for the LCP Wildcard Playoffs, competing against other regional champions from India, South Asia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, and more. From there, teams can earn a spot in the official LCP through the Promotion and Relegation Tournament.

 443.
How to Register

 444.
Players and teams can sign up now at riot.com/LeagueTitansCup.

 445.
More details, including prize pool, full tournament schedule, and rules, will be announced via:

 446.
Why it Matters

 447.
For years, the MYSG region lacked a consistent structure to nurture local League of Legends talent. This new tournament marks Riot Games’ most significant commitment yet to the grassroots scene, providing a direct route for aspiring pros to rise through the ranks.

 448.
“This long-term collaboration is a reflection of our belief in the MYSG region’s potential,” said Resha Pradipta, Riot Games’ Country Manager for Indonesia & Malaysia. “We’re excited to support local talent and build a true path-to-pro ecosystem.”

 449.
Where to Watch

 450.
Production and tournament operations will be led by Easy Onair, known for its esports broadcasting and community work. Fans can catch all the action live, including commentary and match highlights, on:

 451.

 452.
League of Legends Malaysia’s Facebook and YouTube channels

 499.

 500.
Indie XR studio Yumebau today released BuildPort Xumia in early access on Quest, bringing fast-paced, physics-driven space combat and the ability to build out your own spaceships from scratch.

 501.
Now available on Quest 3 and 3S, BuildPort Xumia is a bit of a cross between a toned down Kerbal Space Program and an arena multiplayer shooter, offering up the ability to take down baddies in your own spaceship, which is built, wired and packed full of useful components.

 502.
In BuildPort Xumia, you’ll essentially be able to build anything you can imagine, including things like drones, mechs, or your very own Star Wars-inspired X-Wing. You’ll also need to manage your ships energy requirements, making sure to balance power distribution to keep your ship moving and shooting in both virtual and mixed reality.

 503.

 504.

 505.

 506.
And all of it is made from modular blocks, and a variety of pieces, such as weapons, thrusters, and sensors. Connecting sensors and components can also let you give your creations autonomous behaviors, although some of the real fun is in piloting your own creation in first person.

 507.
At its early access launch, the game includes a 1v1 duel arena, where you can challenge friends to head-to-head battles, or practice solo against AI. You can also invite friends to the game and build ships together in real time, the studio says.

 509.
Moreover, it also has ‘Xumi Trials’, which lets you put your designs to the test in skill-based solo challenges. The studio says it will be filling out features post-launch, which will include new game modes, avatars, ship parts, and other upgrades.

 510.
You can find BuildPort Xumia on the Horizon Store for Quest 3 and Quest 3S starting today for $6—currently discounted from its regular $10 price.

 541.

542.

 543.

 544.
Hyundai Motor Malaysia (HMY) has recently revealed that no new battery-powered electric vehicles (BEV) from Hyundai will be released in our market anytime soon. After taking over from Sime Motors, the company will be focusing on just the three models that it has just launched last week – the Staria, Tucson, and Santa Fe – at least for the remainder of 2025.

 545.

(L – R): The new Hyundai lineup for Malaysia – Staria, Santa Fe, and Tucson. For now.

 546.
They are part of 7 vehicles that the HMY is going to introduce into the market within the next 5 years. With initial focus on ICE and hybrid vehicles, the company is also currently prepping up its local assembly (also known as Completely Knocked Down or CKD) operation at Inokom’s facility in Kulim, Kedah.

 547.
The decision seemed rather odd given that Hyundai is one of the most renowned and innovative names in the BEV space. Its BEV lineup has won plenty of accolades over the years, including SoyaCincau Awards 2024’s Electric SUV and EV of the Year for the Ioniq 5 N.

 548.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 N: SoyaCincau.com EV of The Year for 2024.

 549.
Furthermore, Hyundai is not lacking any new BEVs that can be offered for Malaysia, such as the 2nd generation Kona Electric, Inster, and Ioniq 9. So, what is stopping HMY from including BEV in its lineup from the get-go?

 550.
Maybe the EV volume was not convincing?

 551.

1st generation Hyundai Kona Electric.

 552.
Hyundai’s first BEV in Malaysia was the Kona Electric, which was launched in November 2021. From then until 31 May 2025, there were 784 Hyundai EVs registered in Malaysia according to JPJ’s data on Malaysia’s Official Open Data Portal.

 553.
Out of this figure, 346 units were Ioniq 5, while there were also 221 Ioniq 6 and 271 Kona Electric. Given that there were 4,411 Hyundai vehicles registered within the same period, this means 17% of them were BEVs.

 554.

 555.
When we delved deeper into the data, we learned that the Ioniq 5 is the company’s 3rd best-selling model during the same period. At the same time, Ioniq 6 and Kona Electric were in 4th and 5th place, respectively.

 556.
While their numbers couldn’t beat Staria or Grand Starex, these EVs have surpassed all petrol and hybrid models that Hyundai released during that period. That’s not shabby at all.

 557.
Could it be because of government policies?

 558.

Jahabarnisa Haja Mohideen, the MD of Hyundai Motor Malaysia.

 559.
At the press conference during HMY’s launch event last week, we did ask the company about Hyundai’s BEV line-up for Malaysia. This was the answer that SoyaCincau.com received:

 560.

 561.
“We do have extensive lineup, and BEV is also one of the strong products that we have globally.

 562.
But to bring that in is something that we are studying in terms of what would be the potential of growing the BEV market for Hyundai in Malaysia. We have not looked in particularly into that yet since we just coming up and starting up.

 563.
Eventually, we would like to see how this progressed and also, we have to look into what kind of government incentive will be made available and with that, we’ll probably reconsider.

 564.
That is all in the future planning. We’ll see how.” – Jahabarnisa Haja Mohideen, Managing Director, Hyundai Motor Malaysia.

 565.

 566.
In many ways, we can understand HMY’s predicament as it is not the only automotive company that is looking at the government policy as the key factor that will decide their EV strategy in Malaysia. Many in the industry have expressed their concerns in regards to the government’s EV policy, which needs to be updated or at least, extended for several more years.

 567.

Hyundai Ioniq 6: SoyaCincau.com Electric Sedan of The Year for 2023.

 568.
For example, Honda Malaysia’s President and COO Sarly Adle Sarkum has told the media during the launch of Honda e:N1 that the government have to further extend the tax incentives period to at least 5 to 10 years. He pointed out that in general, a manufacturer may take at least 5 years to recover their investments on a CKD project.

 569.
Malaysia’s existing policy provides excise duty and sales tax exemption for CKD EVs until the end of 2027. At the same time, the government has also yet to announce any updates on the import duty and excise duty exemption for fully-imported (also known as Completely Built-Up or CBU) EVs.

 570.

Hyundai Ioniq 5: SoyaCincau.com’s EV of The Year for 2022.

 571.
Hence, there is a concern that EV adoptions in Malaysia will be significantly affected if the government lets the current arrangement lapse without any update or extension. After all, the pickup rate of EVs in Malaysia has been showing tremendous growth according to recent data.

 572.
Malaysia is currently missing from Hyundai’s BEV activities in Southeast Asia

 573.

The rooftop test track at HMGIC Singapore. 574.
Let’s circle back to Hyundai. At the moment, Malaysia is not only missing out on new BEV models from the Korean giant but it is also absent from Hyundai’s BEV activities in Southeast Asia at large.

 575.
For example, Hyundai has chosen our Southern neighbour, Singapore, to establish the state-of-the-art Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Centre (HMGIC). Despite being called “innovation centre”, it also houses the assembly facility for Ioniq 5, Ioniq 5 robotaxi, and Ioniq 6.

 576.

Hyundai’s plant in Cikarang, Indonesia. 577.
The company also assembles Ioniq 5, Ioniq 5 N, and 2nd generation Kona Electric at its Cikarang plant in West Java, Indonesia. Just a short distance away in Karawang, there is the HLI Green Power’s EV battery plant, which is a USD1.1 billion (~RM4.6 billion) joint venture between Hyundai and LG.

 578.
Meanwhile, Hyundai is currently building an EV and battery assembly facility in Thailand with an investment of over THB1 billion (~RM130.4 million ) with production set to kick off in early 2026. Not to forget, Hyundai also locally assembled the Ioniq 5 for the Vietnamese market.

 579.

Yaksok, Hyundai?

 626.
Grit and Valor – 1949 (2025) is getting VR support soon, bringing the game’s real-time roguelite action to Quest, PSVR 2 and SteamVR headsets.

 627.
Released on PC earlier this year, Grit and Valor – 1949 lets you command an elite squadron of tiny mechs, as you seek to topple the Evil Axis forces and liberate Europe from their legion mechanical minions.

 628.
Players pick their mech combat style, choose their pilots, and upgrade mechs with a variety of unlockable parts, like new cockpits, engines, bodies, legs, and weapons.

 629.
Original developer Milky Tea Studios says it worked with XR veteran studio nDreams to bring the game to VR, letting you go hands-on to command the battlefield, move your mechs, and choose your upgrades. Notably, the VR adaptation of Grit and Valor – 1949 is being developed and published nDreams.

 630.
Coming August 21st, Grit and Valor – 1949 is slated to arrive on the Horizon Store for Quest 2 and above, the PlayStation Store for PS5 and PSVR 2 (VR support included), and get a free update via Steam, bringing PC VR support to game.

 666.

 667.

 668.
DC Handal has deployed a EV charging hub in the heart of Alor Setar which not only is the most powerful but also the largest at the moment. Located near the iconic Menara Alor Setar, there are a total of six DC charging bays which are conveniently located near a variety of F&B and retail shops.

 669.
This is an ideal charging stop for EV owners especially for those making the trip up north to Perlis and beyond.

 670.

 671.
For this location, DC Handal has deployed a 180kW DC charger with two CCS2 nozzles, and two additional 60kW DC Chargers with two CCS2 nozzles each.

 672.
In total, there are 6 DC charging bays and all of them are priced at RM1.30 per kWh, which is quite competitive compared to other DC chargers in town.

 673.

 674.
All DC Handal chargers can be activated without downloading any apps as they are equipped with open payment terminals. Users can activate and pay for charging via credit, debit or prepaid cards, or with their Touch ‘n Go eWallet.

 675.
Alternatively, users can also activate the charger via 3rd party apps including JomCharge and ChargeEV. Gentari Go is also supported but do take note that there’s a 6% roaming fee which is applicable.

 676.

 677.
With a total of 6 bays and output up to 180kW, this is currently the most ideal DC charging hub in the capital city of Kedah.

 678.
If you’re on a road trip with an EV, it is recommended to stop DC charging at 80% and continue with your journey. The last 20% to get a full charge with DC charging is very slow and it usually it takes longer than to charge from 10-80%.

 679.
Once you’re doing charging, you should move your vehicle to free up the bay for others to charge.
