44.
The insurrection began at approximately 12:30 a.m., when anti-Israel protesters who had been staying on the academic lawn of Columbia’s Manhattan campus, where about 120 tents remain, stormed Hamilton Hall, an academic building used by the dean. The mob shattered windows, barricaded doors using tables and chairs, and obscured the windows of the facility.

 45.
The major escalation came hours after Columbia University administrators began suspending students who failed to leave their encampment.

 46.
“They held me hostage,” a facilities worker who was in the building when the insurrection began said after he was allowed to leave, according to the student newspaper Columbia Spectator.

 134.
Fashion is always an art form — especially on these sculptural styles recently spotted on red carpets. Sydney Sweeney, Chrissy Teigen, Camila Mendes and Taylor Russell all found ingenious ways to style bespoke hardware and daring silhouettes, making unconventional pieces look effortless.

 135.
First up: We have to hand it to Sydney Sweeney. The actress looked “Immaculate” in a museum-worthy Balmain breastplate at the LA premiere of her new convent horror flick. Sweeney framed the ’fit with slicked back hair and tailored trousers — a masterclass in styling statement pieces.

 136.
Meanwhile, “Riverdale” rockstar Camila Mendes turned heads at the 2024 Vanity Fair Oscar Party. The actress — who recently played the leading lady in boyfriend Rudy Mancuso’s directorial debut “Musica” — chose a black velvet Tamara Ralph couture gown that hugged her curves, from the mermaid skirt right up to the stunning bodice of golden roses.

 137.
Also attending the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, model Chrissy Teigen opted for an optical illusion in mesmerizing Oscar de la Renta. The sleek, silver gown with clever cut-outs and matching jewels created a defining fashion moment.

 138.
Finally, “Bones and All” babe Taylor Russell showed off a sequined, sculptural Loewe look at the 2023 Fashion Awards. As Global Ambassador for the brand, Russell has worn Loewe for many of her most iconic fashion moments — though this piece may look more like a loan from MoMA.

 217.
By this point, it should’ve been expected, anticipated, foreshadowed, predicted — anything but surprising. This is who the Knicks are. This is who Tom Thibodeau wanted them to be. They can adapt to the unadaptable, adjust to the unadjustable, turn even the most impossible scenarios into something that seems, at the very least, possible.

 218.
That was the case again Sunday, when Precious Achiuwa jumped toward Joel Embiid in the final minutes of Game 4 and swatted a 3-point attempt into the Wells Fargo Center seats. The mid-season acquisition — an afterthought in the OG Anunoby deal — hadn’t even played in Games 1 and 2 of the Knicks’ first-round series against the 76ers. He probably wouldn’t have played in Games 3 or 4, either, if Mitchell Robinson’s left ankle hadn’t encountered a setback, and Achiuwa almost certainly wouldn’t have been on the court in the waning minutes of the fourth quarter if starting center Isaiah Hartenstein hadn’t picked up five fouls in the third frame.

 219.
But for most of the regular season, the 2023-24 edition of the Knicks constructed a reputation based on figuring out how to resourcefully win games despite strange, bizarre, how-is-this-happening circumstances.

 220.
That has carried over into the playoffs.

 241.
A consortium of companies in Japan has built the world’s first high-speed 6G wireless device, capable of transmitting data at blistering speeds of 100 gigabits per second (Gbps) at more than 300 feet (90 meters) — up to 20 times faster than 5G.

 242.
These data transfer speeds are equivalent to transferring five HD movies wirelessly per second, and, according to Statista, up to 500 times faster than average 5G T-Mobile speeds in the U.S.

 243.

 244.
The results of the new tests, announced April 11 in a joint statement, show that the consortium’s wireless device transmitted data at 100 Gbps indoors over the 100 gigahertz (GHz) band and outdoors in the 300 GHz band — which sits below infrared in the electromagnetic spectrum. The tests were conducted over 328 feet (100 meters), consortium representatives said in the statement.

 245.
Rolled out in 2019, 5G is the current state-of-the-art wireless communication standard and is used by almost all new smartphones, for example. Average T-Mobile speeds in the U.S. are approximately 204.9 megabits per second (Mbps), while the theoretical maximum 5G speed is at least 10 Gbps.

 246.
Related: Scientists create light-based semiconductor chip that will pave the way for 6G

 247.
But scientists are already working on building the sixth generation of this standard, 6G, with the infrastructure in the works ahead of rollout by the early 2030s, according to the GSM Association (GSMA) — where GSM stands for Global System for Mobile.

 248.
The main differences between 5G and 6G lie in the frequency bands of the electromagnetic spectrum in which they operate. Operating in higher bands generally means much higher speeds.

 259.
5G signals are commonly transmitted in bands under 6 GHz and extended into bands of around 40 GHz — known as the “millimeter-wave bands,” according to 6GWorld.

 260.
6G, on the other hand, is expected to use higher-frequency bands, known as “sub-THz” bands, which are between 100 GHz and 300 GHz, according to Nokia. Transmitting in this region taps into the advantage of faster speeds but has the disadvantage of greater interference with the environment, with signals more likely to become blocked — particularly indoors.

 261.
Where the jump from 4G to 5G paved the way for much greater volumes of media consumption, the jump from 5G to 6G could lead to new technologies like holographic communication and smoother virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality experiences.

 262.
Because 6G relies on much higher frequency bands, however, we would need completely new infrastructure to transmit and amplify signals, while smartphones or VR devices would require 6G antennae.

 263.
In previous tests, scientists have achieved faster 6G speeds — but over much shorter distances. A different team of scientists in Japan, for example, demonstrated world-record 6G speeds of up to 240 Gbps but only at 66 feet (20 m), publishing their findings Feb. 10 in the journal IEICE Electronics Express.

 284.
When indicted senator Bob Menendez first began dating his current wife she vanished for a week — and was declared a missing person by cops because her other lover feared for her safety.

 285.
Nadine Arslanian left the lights on and TVs blaring at her Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, home without even her children knowing where she was, The Post has learned.

 286.
And she left a “weird” typewritten note on the door for the man she was casually dating, that lover told The Post.

 287.
She then secretly flew to for a week-long assignation with Menendez, the New Jersey Democratic senator, to the Dominican Republic in spring of 2018.

 288.
Arslanian, 57, and Menendez, 70, married in 2020 and are now indicted on charges of selling his office to New Jersey businessmen for cash, gold bars and a car, and conspiring to act as secret agents of the Egyptian and Qatari governments.

 289.

 290.

 291.
Both of them strongly deny the accusations. Menendez will go on trial at federal court in Manhattan on May 13 and Arslanian will have a separate trial in July.

 292.
In the spring of 2018, Arslanian was newly involved with the senator and still in an on-again, off-again relationship with lawyer Douglas Anton.

 293.
Anton told The Post that she had dropped by his Hackensack, NJ, law office while he was assembling furniture one Thursday and the two had agreed to meet later that evening at her Englewood Cliffs home.

 294.
“I texted her, but instead of blue, the text went green,” said Anton, a former attorney for disgraced musician R. Kelly, adding that he grew increasingly alarmed when he arrived at her home and saw a note affixed to her front door.

 295.
“My love, I’m going away to see my girlfriend last minute as I need some time to de-stress. Be back Monday. Love you,” the note said. The note was typed, which Anton said he found “weird.”

 296.
Anton said he wasn’t too upset because he was also dating someone else at the time, “and the idea of a Nadine-free weekend was rather appealing.”

 297.
But when she didn’t return on Monday he began to worry, he told The Post, adding that he called her sister, her adult children and friends “who also had no idea where she was, that she left, and were very concerned.” Her sister insisted he call police, Anton said.

 298.
“It wasn’t like her to do this, and days went by, so I went to the cops,” he said.

 299.
“I did a missing persons report, and they had to come to the house to check to make sure that someone didn’t kill her and put her in a closet.”

 300.
Police found the lights on as well as televisions blaring in the living room and a bedroom, according to northJersey.com, citing records obtained from theEnglewood Cliffs Police Department.

 301.
Arslanian was found several days later, Anton said.

 302.
“On the flight back from the DR, she could not get on the plane and had to call for a government check,” Anton told The Post.

 303.
“That’s when he [Menendez] first found out we were still ‘seeing’ each other on and off during the week when he was in DC. She later said he freaked out and was p–sed.”

 304.
The couple were in Punta Cana, a seaside town in the Dominican Republic. The town is a short drive to Casa de Campo, an exclusive resort where Menendez had been a frequent guest of his former benefactor, Salomon Melgen.

 305.
Menendez was indicted for corruption alongside the Palm Beach eye doctor in 2015. His trial resulted in a hung jury, and he and Melgen were acquitted of some of the bribery charges.

 306.
When Arslanian was on the plane she called police to say she was safe and asked them to send Anton a message to stay away from her, according to northjersey.com.

 307.
She returned to the US on a Thursday, a week after she had first “disappeared,” said Anton.

 308.
“She finally landed and blew up my phone, came right to my house to explain, crying and to apologize,” Anton said.

 309.
“I asked her ‘why did you do that?’” said Anton. “It was more about Bob wanting to be incognito.”

 310.
When police returned to Arslanian’s home for a follow-up visit, they found her there along with Wael Hana, an Egyptian-American businessman, who is now one of her two co-defendants, northjersey.com reported.

 311.
He and the other co-accused, Fred Daibes, have also pleaded not guilty. A third man, Jose Uribe, pleaded guilty and is co-operating with prosecutors.

 312.
Arslanian and Menendez’s attorneys did not respond to requests for comment.

 345.
Huang, who met with Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker, has previously called the CCP a “great party” and has denied that China is targeting the Muslim Uyghur population in China.

 346.
“There are lots of lies here, fabricated by some people with their own political agenda,” Huang said in an August 2021 interview, denying the existence of genocide and internment camps targeting Uyghurs. “As I said, there’s no genocide, not a single evidence to prove that there’s a genocide or something there. It’s just a slandering.”

 347.
The U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and the State Department under both the Trump and Biden administrations have assessed that China is committing genocide against the Uyghurs. Since 2017, the Chinese government has reportedly imprisoned more than a million Uyghurs in concentration camps where, according to leaked documents from inside China, detainees are subjected to rape, torture, forced labor, brainwashing and forced sterilization.

 371.
Huang’s visits with top officials come amid growing concerns about China’s presence in the United States in a variety of sectors, from academia to government to health care to social media.

 372.
“The Chinese Communist Party is playing for keeps at the nuclear level and every layer below that,” Michael Sobolik, author of “Countering China’s Great Game: A Strategy for American Dominance,” told Fox News Digital. “And it’s not just the universities. The Chinese Communist Party is looking to infiltrate every aspect of American society.”

 373.
“If we try to edit undo our way out of this whole list of infiltrations and threats that the CCP sends our direction that’s good policy work. We need to insulate ourselves. But good housekeeping is the bare minimum of waging a cold war and winning a cold war,” Sobolik continued.

 374.
“If we’re serious about winning a cold war, it’s not enough to just address these problems that the Chinese Communist Party has created for America. American policymakers need to go on the offensive and create problems for the CCP to respond to. We need to seize the initiative of this competition.”

 474.
“Now, as tensions are rising across the country, the president, a self-proclaimed healer of souls, has gone noticeably missing and quiet. He desperately needs his radical base to show up for him in November. So, Joe has been trashing Netanyahu and Israel while trying to ignore the hate-filled protests of the left. He’s trying to walk a tightrope. And as we all know, well, Biden does not have very good balance in any regard.”

 530.
There’s only one icon who could get Sarah Michelle Gellar to consider a possible Buffy the Vampire Slayer revival: Dolly Parton.

 531.
“I mean, like, if Dolly Parton is going to call me I’m always available to take a phone call from the queen,” Gellar, 47, exclusively told Us Weekly while attending the Front Row Fashion Awards at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles on Friday, April 26.

 532.
Based on the 1992 film of the same name, Buffy premiered as a midseason replacement TV show on The WB in 1997 before swapping over to the UPN for its last two seasons. The show followed Buffy Summer (Gellar) as she fulfilled her destiny to destroy vampires, demons and other forces of darkness. Alyson Hannigan, Anthony Head, Nicholas Brendon and David Boreanez also starred.

 533.
Parton, for her part, served as an uncredited producer on the show through her company, Sandollar Productions. Earlier this year, Parton, 78, teased that the supernatural series— which remains a cult classic among fans today — could be making a comeback in the future.

 534.
“They’re thinking about bringing it back and revamping it,” Parton told Business Insider in January. “They’re still working on that.”

 535.
While the “Jolene” singer could seemingly change her mind, Gellar has previously been outspoken against returning to the role of Buffy. Last year, the actress told Variety that while she is “very proud” of the show, a revival “doesn’t need to be done.” She is, however, “all for” the Buffy story to continue without her.

 536.
 537.
“Because there’s the story of female empowerment,” she continued. “I love the way the show was left: ‘Every girl who has the power can have the power.’ It’s set up perfectly for someone else to have the power. But like I said, the metaphors of Buffy were the horrors of adolescence. I think I look young, but I am not an adolescent.”

 538.
Despite not wanting to jump back into Buffy’s high heels, Gellar still holds the memories of her time on BTVS near and dear to her heart, and has even begun watching the supernatural drama with her children: daughter Charlotte, 14, and son Rocky, 11, whom she shares with husband Freddie Prinze Jr.

 539.

 540.

 541.
In 2021, Gellar told Us that the family has watched up to season 5 before pressing pause, as she’s had to “sort of cherry-pick” around the darker episodes that may not be appropriate for younger kids. (Buffy dies at the end of season 5, while season 6 features “Seeing Red,” the episode where James Marsters’ character, Spike, attempts to rape Buffy in her bathroom.)

 542.

 543.
“We’re working our way slowly through it,” she said. “And then they’ve gotten distracted by other shows.”

 544.
Charlotte and Rocky are, however, way more interested in Buffy than any of Gellar’s other work. “They never want to watch anything that I do,” she said. “They’re never interested. I got the first five episodes and I had to watch it because we were doing a panel the next day. I hadn’t seen it, so we all sat down to watch the first episode. And then I said, ‘OK guys, time to shower,’ and they all came back down [to watch the rest].”

 545.
Gellar added that the duo even got up early the next morning to get ready for school to finish the show. “They were, like, adamant that they wanted to see the rest,” she said. “That never happens.”

 566.
Forget about pitch clocks or limiting shifts or enlarging bases. Perhaps all that the commissioner’s office needs to juice offensive numbers is to have the Yankees find their inner Bronx Bombers.

 567.
Over the last two games in Milwaukee over the weekend, the Yankees scored 30 runs while hitting .420 with seven homers.

 568.
That, in combination with the Twins also going off on Saturday and Sunday — .420 average, 27 runs — helped raise the entire MLB batting average nearly 1 ½ points in 48 hours to .241 and increase run scoring nearly a tenth of point from 4.35 to 4.41 per team per game.

 569.
But here is the problem — that was like raising your grade point average from 1.1 to 1.2. It’s better, but certainly not where desired.
