43.

After Australia’s Securities and Investment Committee, ASIC, adopts climate-related financial reporting in all large-scale enterprises and financial institutions from 1 January 2025, Australia officially enters a new era of corporate responsibility. Even though it’s been six months, many businesses are still having trouble with the practical aspects of climate-related financial reports. While others are already setting benchmarks for transparency and compliance.

 44.
This shift, driven by the Treasury Laws Amendment (Financial Market Infrastructure and Other Measures) Act 2024, has transformed how businesses report on environmental risks. But with phased implementation now well underway, the key question for directors and compliance leaders is clear: where does your business stand?

 45.
At Anitech, we work with businesses across industries to help them not just meet these new standards but to use them as a foundation for sustainable growth, trust, and long-term value creation. We came up with this blog to alert businesses to the upcoming consequences. Through this blog, you will easily understand where your business stands today and what your future steps should be for the ESG mandate.

 46.
What Changed at the Start of 2025?

 47.
From January 2025, Australian companies (large-scale enterprises and financial institutions) were required to begin climate risk reporting as part of their general-purpose financial statements. The legislation affects entities meeting two of the following thresholds:

 48.

 49.
Consolidated $500 million or more in revenue

 50.
EOFY consolidated gross assets of $1 billion or more

 51.
500 employees or more

 52.

 53.
These Group 1 entities are now legally required to disclose:

 54.

 55.
Scope 1 and 2 emissions (with Scope 3 required from year two).

 56.
Governance and strategy regarding climate risks.

 57.
Risk management processes.

 58.
Metrics and targets for emissions and climate impact.

 59.

 60.
All disclosures must align with the Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards (ASRS), modelled on global frameworks like IFRS S2.

 61.
This isn’t a soft rollout. ASIC and the Treasury made it clear: businesses should have been preparing long before the year began.

 62.
Where Businesses Stand Now: July 2025

 63.
Six months into the reporting year, the divide is stark:

 64.

 65.
Prepared organisations have ESG frameworks, data pipelines, and governance committees in place.

 66.
Unprepared companies are scrambling to catch up, often missing interim reporting checkpoints or underestimating the data complexity.

 67.

 68.
Common issues we’re seeing across industries include:

 69.

 70.
Lack of clarity on Scope 3 emissions

 71.
Underdeveloped assurance processes

 72.
Unclear lines of governance and accountability

 73.
Limited integration of climate strategy into financial risk planning

 74.

 75.
Why This Matters More Than Ever

 76.
1. Compliance Is Now a Legal Obligation

 77.
This is no longer an optional part of ESG reporting in Australia. If you’re a Group 1 entity and fail to report in your annual statements, you’re in breach of the Corporations Act.

 78.
2. Investors Are Watching

 79.
Increased regulatory scrutiny has come hand-in-hand with greater market expectations. Lenders, shareholders, and investors now expect climate disclosure in Australia to be consistent, credible, and decision-useful.

 80.
3. Supply Chain Pressure Is Growing

 81.
Even businesses not currently required to report are now receiving ESG and carbon data requests from their larger clients and supply chain partners, especially where Scope 3 emissions are in focus.

 82.
What This Means for SMEs

 83.
SME businesses may not be directly entitled to report, as they do not fall into the 3 categories of mandatory reporting. However, if your clients or partners fall into the reporting categories, they’ll need to disclose Scope 3 emissions, which include those generated by their value chain.

 84.
As a result, larger companies will begin requesting emissions data and sustainability information from their suppliers. SMEs that can’t provide this may risk losing opportunities or being excluded from preferred vendor lists.

 85.
Now is the time for smaller businesses to assess their exposure, understand client expectations, and start preparing basic climate data and ESG policies to stay competitive.

 86.
What You Should Have in Place by Now

 87.
By July 2025, ASIC and climate governance experts recommend that entities should already have:

 88.

 89.
A dedicated climate reporting lead or committee

 90.
Clear data systems capturing emissions and climate risk

 91.
Draft alignment with ASRS requirements

 92.
Plans for a limited assurance engagement

 93.
Integration of climate-related risks into broader financial planning

 94.

 95.
If your organisation hasn’t achieved these milestones, you’re likely behind the curve—but not too late to catch up.

 96.
What If You’re Not There Yet?

 97.
Don’t panic, but don’t delay; this is the ideal time to:

 98.

 99.
Conduct a gap assessment.

 100.
Identify gaps in data, governance, and assurance.

 101.
Engage climate and reporting professionals.

 102.
Start drafting disclosures for review ahead of audit season.

 103.

 104.
ASIC has signalled that while enforcement will consider context, there will be no tolerance for inaction.

 105.
How Anitech Supports Climate Reporting Compliance

 106.
At Anitech, we specialise in helping businesses:

 107.

 108.
By understanding and implementing mandatory climate disclosure standards.

 109.
Design ESG governance and assurance frameworks.

 110.
Build internal systems for climate risk reporting.

 111.
Train leadership teams on disclosure obligations.

 112.
Align climate strategy with business planning and risk management.

 113.

 114.
We focus on compliance that fits your organisation—efficient, realistic, and scalable.

 115.
Our strength lies in bridging legislation with practical execution. We ensure our reports meet regulatory requirements and will comply with the upcoming 3rd-party assurance requirements.

 116.
Looking Ahead: What Comes Next?

 117.
July is not the end of the process of climate exposure; it’s the middle point. Looking forward to FY2025-26 and beyond:

 118.

 119.
Group 2 entities will join the framework in July 2026.

 120.
Assurance requirements will become stricter over time, transitioning from limited to reasonable assurance.

 121.
Stakeholder expectations will continue to rise as climate accountability becomes standard in global markets.

 122.

 123.
The organisations that treat this shift as strategic will gain a clear advantage.

 124.
Final Takeaway

 125.
Mandatory climate disclosure is here, active, and enforceable. If your business is still treating climate reporting as a compliance side task, it’s time to reassess. The bar has moved, and it’s not coming back down.

 126.
At Anitech, we’re here to help you meet this moment. With tailored, practical, and strategic ESG support, we’ll guide you through the complexity so you can focus on building a more responsible, future-ready business.

 146.

In 2025, managing psychosocial hazards in the workplace will become a legal requirement for businesses (PCBUs). The Australian work health and safety (WHS) laws have formally recognised mental health risks as workplace hazards along with physical dangers. Under these changes, employers must now identify and control psychosocial hazards through structured processes and transparent leadership.

 147.
These changes are the result of mounting evidence that poor mental health at work has negative effects on company performance, productivity, and culture in addition to harming individuals. Following these new rules is now a basic component of corporate responsibility for directors, HR directors, and WHS officers.

 148.
Businesses of all sizes are embedding psychosocial risk management into their safety systems to meet obligations while building healthier, more resilient teams. Here in this guide, we have shared the updated rules and how your business can align with them.

 149.
What Are Psychosocial Hazards?

 150.
Psychosocial hazards are factors at work that can cause psychological harm, emotional distress, or even physical injury. Unlike a wet floor or a malfunctioning machine, these risks are often invisible, but their impact can be just as serious as physical ones.

 151.
According to Safe Work Australia, examples of workplace psychosocial hazards include:

 152.

 153.
High workloads or unrealistic time pressures

 154.
Ongoing conflict between staff or teams

 155.
Inadequate support from supervisors or management

 156.
Bullying, harassment, or exposure to distressing content

 157.
Low job control or unclear work roles

 158.
Isolation, particularly in remote or hybrid work environments

 159.

 160.
When left unmanaged, these risks can result in anxiety, depression, burnout, absenteeism, and compensation claims. That is directed to reduce employee well-being and business performance.

 161.
What’s Changed in 2025?

 162.
In recent years, WHS regulations across Australia have evolved to include explicit obligations for managing psychosocial hazards. As of 2025, most jurisdictions, including NSW, QLD, VIC, WA, and the ACT, have enforced these requirements through their state-based legislation.

 163.
The Model Work Health and Safety Regulations, as supported by Safe Work Australia, require businesses (PCBUs) to:

 164.

 165.
Identify psychosocial hazards in the workplace

 166.
Assess associated risks (considering severity, frequency, and likelihood of harm)

 167.
Implement control measures that eliminate or reduce harm

 168.
Review those measures regularly to ensure they remain effective

 169.

 170.
Non-compliance can now trigger investigations, improvement notices, or even prosecution under WHS law. Regulators will expect businesses (PCBUs) to treat mental health risks with the same diligence applied to physical safety.

 171.
Why It Matters to Employers

 172.
If your organisation fails to manage psychosocial risks, it can harm both your workforce and your business. Your organisation is not only affected by legal consequences, but it has more than that:

 173.

 174.
Increased staff turnover

 175.
Higher sick leave and compensation claims

 176.
Drop in morale, trust, and productivity

 177.
Damage to brand reputation or tender eligibility

 178.

 179.
Nowadays, employees value well-being rather than a better salary. Creating a safe, respectful, and psychologically healthy environment is now a minimum expectation, not a bonus feature.

 180.
Leaders who invest in workplace mental health position themselves to retain top talent, build a strong culture, and meet public and legal standards. In contrast, businesses (PCBUs) that overlook these changes may find themselves lagging behind both socially and operationally.

 181.
How to Manage Psychosocial Hazards: A Step-by-Step Approach

 182.
Workplace psychosocial hazards must be managed using the same four-stage risk management process as physical risks:

 183.
1. Identify Hazards

 184.
Use tools such as staff surveys, interviews, performance data, and exit feedback to pinpoint areas of concern. Look for patterns related to workload, conflict, or lack of support.

 185.
2. Assess the Risks

 186.
Determine the likelihood and potential severity of harm. Consider how long employees are exposed to the hazard and whether it combines with other risks (e.g., isolation + workload).

 187.
3. Implement Control Measures

 188.
Apply the hierarchy of controls:

 189.

 190.
Eliminate the hazard where possible (e.g., remove harmful practices)

 191.
Minimise exposure (e.g., review role clarity, implement flexible rostering)

 192.
Introduce systems to support early intervention and employee assistance

 193.

 194.
4. Review and Monitor

 195.
Measure outcomes through regular reviews, audits, or feedback loops. Adjust strategies if issues persist or new risks emerge. This isn’t a one-time task; it’s an ongoing, responsive responsibility.

 228.

In a major development for workplace safety in New South Wales, the Work Health and Safety Amendment (Industrial Manslaughter) Act 2024 has now made industrial manslaughter a criminal offence under the state’s WHS laws. The legislation commenced on 16 September 2024 and represents a firm step forward to make sure that preventable workplace deaths are treated with the seriousness they deserve.

 229.
While this may appear to be a straightforward legal amendment, it serves as a powerful call to action for NSW businesses. It is a call to strengthen workplace procedures, define executive roles, and prioritise safety at the top of the organisational hierarchy. At Anitech, we help organisations adapt to this legislation confidently by helping businesses to take proactive steps.

 230.
In this blog, we outline the key changes, why they matter, and what your business should be doing to stay compliant in 2025 and beyond.

 231.
What Does the Industrial Manslaughter Law Say?

 232.
The NSW Industrial Manslaughter Laws create a new criminal offence under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011. Under this legislation, a person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU), or an officer of the PCBU, may be found guilty of industrial manslaughter if:

 233.

 234.
The person has a health and safety duty.

 235.
They breach that duty.

 236.
The breach is due to gross negligence.

 237.
The breach causes the death of a worker.

 238.

 239.
This law applies to all workplaces under the WHS Act and covers both individuals and corporations who hold decision-making authority. Importantly, the offence does not apply to volunteers; the focus remains on those with legal and operational control.

 240.
The Cost of Non-Compliance

 241.
The penalties under the Industrial Manslaughter Legislation NSW are among the most serious in the country for WHS offences:

 242.

 243.
Individuals (Officers) up to 25 years imprisonment

 244.
Corporations (PCBUs) up to $20 million in fines

 245.

 246.
This adds long-term accountability, as businesses cannot assume legal exposure fades with time. These penalties reflect the government’s position that a workplace death caused by gross negligence is a criminal act.

 247.
Why the Law Was Introduced

 248.
The industrial manslaughter offence was introduced following years of advocacy from affected families, workers, and safety experts. Prior to this legislation, New South Wales lacked a standalone criminal offence for workplace manslaughter, unlike other Australian states such as Queensland and Victoria.

 249.
By enacting this law, the NSW Government aimed to:

 250.

 251.
Improve the enforceability of serious WHS breaches

 252.
Deter reckless conduct by individuals in leadership positions

 253.
Drive a stronger culture of accountability and prevention in all sectors

 254.

 255.
Who Needs to Comply?

 256.
The law applies to any individual or business with responsibilities under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011, including:

 257.

 258.
Directors and officers with decision-making authority

 259.
CEOs, general managers, and WHS leaders

 260.
Corporations operating in high-risk industries (construction, manufacturing, logistics, health, etc.)

 261.

 262.
If these duty holders fail to act with due care, and that failure leads to a fatality, they can now face criminal charges.

 263.
What Should Businesses Do Now?

 264.
The introduction of the NSW Industrial Manslaughter Laws has elevated compliance expectations across all industries. While most organisations already aim to provide safe workplaces, this law shifts the risk calculus and makes safety leadership enforceable.

 265.
Here are four priority actions:

 266.
1. Review WHS Governance

 267.
Boards and senior executives must ensure safety oversight is clearly documented and reviewed regularly.

 268.
2. Strengthen Risk Management Systems

 269.
Reassess hazard identification, incident reporting, and control mechanisms, especially in high-risk areas.

 270.
3. Define Legal Duties Clearly

 271.
Ensure officers and managers understand their individual WHS obligations under the Act.

 272.
4. Embed a Culture of Prevention

 273.
Encourage safe work practices at all levels of the organisation, and ensure early warnings are escalated and addressed.

 274.
How Anitech Helps Businesses Navigate the Law

 275.
At Anitech, we support businesses across New South Wales with tailored safety and compliance solutions that meet the new legal requirements. Our services include:

 276.

 277.
WHS framework audits aligned with the new law

 278.
Governance mapping to define accountability

 279.
Executive training on industrial manslaughter obligations

 280.
WHS Policy and procedure updates

 281.
Guidance for strengthening risk management, internal controls and safety culture

 282.
Digital solution – Lahebo – Risk and Compliance Software

 283.

 284.
We approach compliance not just as a legal necessity but as a strategic investment in your people and your long-term success.

 285.
Future-Proofing Your WHS Strategy

 286.
The commencement of Industrial Manslaughter NSW legislation represents a serious shift in how workplace deaths are addressed in New South Wales. Gross negligence is no longer a matter of civil penalties alone; it is now a criminal offence, with consequences that extend to the highest levels of leadership.

 287.
This reform has been designed to prevent tragedy before it happens by encouraging stronger systems, safer behaviours, and clearer accountability.

 288.
At Anitech, we are here to help you take practical steps to align with the law professionally, proactively, and confidently. Contact us to get tailored solutions for your business.

 307.

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) reported receiving 382 reports of suspected modern slavery in the 2023–24 financial year. In response, the Australian Government has taken critical steps to strengthen corporate accountability. The latest reforms to the Modern Slavery Act 2018, effective from late 2024, introduce stronger compliance mechanisms and a renewed focus on ethical supply chains for 2025 and beyond.

 308.
For businesses across Australia, especially those with complex supply chains or operations overseas, understanding and adhering to these changes is essential. It helps businesses remain compliant and competitive in an increasingly values-driven market. At Anitech, we work with businesses to help them understand and comply with this critical legislation. In this article, we’ve simplified the Act and explained its practical impact on businesses in 2025. Let’s explore how these updates translate into practical business responsibilities.

 309.
A Quick Recap: What Is the Modern Slavery Act 2018?

 310.
The Modern Slavery Act 2018 was introduced to address serious exploitative practices such as forced labour, human trafficking, debt bondage, and child labour in the operations and supply chains of large Australian entities. It legally required eligible businesses to publicly report how they identify and manage modern slavery risks in their operations and supply chains.

 311.
However, until recently, there was no central oversight mechanism, and enforcement was largely reputational. In late 2024, Parliament amended the Act to introduce stronger compliance powers, clearer responsibilities, and a new authority: the Australian Anti-Slavery Commissioner.

 312.
Key Changes Businesses Must Know in 2025

 313.
Here’s a breakdown of the major legislative changes that businesses must be ready for in 2025:

 314.
1. Establishment of the Australian Anti-Slavery Commissioner

 315.
One of the most significant reforms is the formal appointment of an independent Commissioner. Their role is to support entities in meeting their obligations under the Act, monitor compliance, issue guidance, and, if necessary, name non-compliant businesses publicly.

 316.
This marks a major shift in compliance culture. Compliance is no longer only about publishing a statement; it’s now about demonstrating real commitment to managing modern slavery risks.

 317.
2. More Robust Oversight and Enforcement

 318.
The Commissioner is now empowered to request explanations and remediation from businesses that fail to meet their obligations. If these are not adequately addressed, the Commissioner may publish the entity’s name and details of the breach.

 319.
This shift marks the end of passive compliance; businesses are now expected to act or face real consequences. Failing to meet these requirements may now result in public scrutiny and reputational damage.

 320.
3. Clearer Expectations for Reporting Entities

 321.
While the basic reporting threshold remains at $100 million in consolidated revenue, the revised guidance expects more detailed risk mapping, action plans, and effectiveness assessments. Generic or surface-level statements won’t suffice.

 322.
These statements must now be formally approved by the entity’s governing body (e.g., board of directors) and signed by a responsible executive. This reinforces leadership accountability and governance oversight.

 323.
Why It Matters in 2025

 324.
In today’s global economy, businesses face mounting pressure to align with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. Modern slavery is one of the key social risks investors and regulators are watching closely.

 325.
In 2025, it’s not just about avoiding penalties; it’s about responding to major business shifts that demand greater transparency, responsibility, and stakeholder trust. Whether you’re a large manufacturer, a logistics company, or a professional services firm with an offshore supply chain, you have a duty to know where your products and services come from and what conditions they’re created under.

 326.
What Does Modern Slavery Compliance Look Like?

 327.
To remain compliant with the legislation, businesses should focus on these core areas:

 328.

 329.
Risk Identification: Mapping operations and supply chains to identify areas with a high risk of exploitation.

 330.
Due Diligence: Implementing structured processes to investigate and monitor suppliers.

 331.
Corrective Actions: Establishing clear procedures to respond when modern slavery risks are detected.

 332.
Reporting: Preparing detailed and timely modern slavery statements that reflect real actions, not just intentions.

 333.
Stakeholder Engagement: Involving internal and external stakeholders in your compliance journey.

 334.

 335.
How Anitech Supports Compliance

 341.
Train staff and leadership on obligations and ethical practices.

 344.
Our team works closely with legal advisors, auditors, and regulators to deliver clarity and confidence in your compliance journey.

 345.
Key Takeaways

 346.

 347.
The Modern Slavery Act now includes real enforcement mechanisms and public accountability through the Commissioner’s powers.

 348.
Entities must report annually and respond to compliance breaches or risk being named publicly.

 349.
Taking a proactive approach to modern slavery compliance is now essential; it’s no longer just a compliance exercise.

 350.
Businesses should prepare to collaborate with regulators and embrace greater transparency.

 351.

 352.
Final Thoughts

 353.
The Modern Slavery Act 2018 in its updated form, is reshaping the way Australian companies think about supply chains, responsibility, and compliance. Lack of awareness is no longer a viable defence under law. In 2025, businesses are expected to proactively uncover risks, implement ethical controls, and lead with transparency. Those who fail to act face growing regulatory scrutiny and reputational risk they can’t afford.

 354.
Whether you’re a large organisation or looking to scale, having a clear Modern Slavery Act compliance policy in place is not just good governance; it’s good business.

 374.

The Australian Government has approved a national Work Health and Safety (Sexual and Gender-based Harassment) Code of Practice 2025, which has been implemented in conjunction with the Work Health and Safety (Managing Psychosocial Hazards at Work) Code of Practice 2024 (the Codes).

 375.
Keeping up with such changes is a must for PCBUs, which place a strong emphasis on organisational culture and operational risk management. At Anitech, we understand the weight of these responsibilities. Our team supports Australian businesses in navigating complex legislation by translating regulatory expectations into tailored, actionable strategies that enhance both compliance and culture. Staying informed of the latest legislative developments is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting Australian businesses with accurate, up-to-date guidance.

 376.
So, what exactly does the 2025 update mean for Australian businesses? Let’s break it down in straightforward terms.

 377.
Understanding the Sexual Harassment Code of Practice 2025: What It Is and Why It Matters

 378.
The Sexual Harassment Code of Practice 2025 is an approved code under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Cth). It provides clear, practical guidance on identifying, preventing, and managing the risks of sexual and gender-based harassment in the workplace.

 379.
This new code reflects a major shift: sexual harassment is now recognised as a psychosocial hazard under WHS law, with the same legal importance as physical risks such as machinery or toxic substances. This means employers must actively address these risks through a structured WHS risk management process.

 380.
Why the Update Matters for Australian Businesses?

 381.
For many businesses, this code replaces ambiguity with clarity. Employers (or PCBUs—persons conducting a business or undertaking) are now expected to:

 382.

 383.
Identify potential harassment risks.

 384.
Consult with workers about workplace hazards.

 385.
Implement effective control measures.

 386.
Provide appropriate training, supervision, and systems of support.

 387.
Maintain and regularly review WHS processes in line with the new Code.

 388.

 389.
These expectations are aligned with broader workplace harassment laws in Australia, which are evolving to ensure every employee, regardless of gender, background, or role, is protected in their working environment.

 390.
What Does Harassment Look Like Under the Code?

 391.
The Code defines sexual and gender-based harassment as any unwanted behavioural action, whether verbal, physical, visual, or digital, that causes offence, humiliation, or intimidation. This includes:

 392.

 393.
Inappropriate jokes, comments, or gestures
394.

 395.
Unwanted physical contact
396.

 397.
Sexually suggestive emails or texts
398.

 399.
Repeated unwanted advances or invitations
400.

 401.
Deliberate misgendering or derogatory remarks
402.

 403.
Creating or allowing a hostile work environment

 404.

 405.
Importantly, harassment doesn’t need to be repeated to be considered a WHS risk. One incident can be enough to breach your legal obligations.

 406.
How Must Businesses Respond?

 407.
The Code outlines expectations for a business regarding the prevention and response to practice. Some of the key business responsibilities include:

 408.
Risk Identification and Management

 409.
Employers need to consider sexual harassment as a psychosocial risk and evaluate where, when, and how it may happen in their work environment. Here, risks from clients, customers, and third parties are as important as those posed by other employees.

 410.
Clear Preventative Measures

 411.
Your organisation must have policies on maintaining a safe work environment, including behaviour containment, appropriate workplace configuration, training, and leadership accountability to avert harassment.

 412.
Supportive and Transparent Reporting Systems

 413.
Businesses need to allow workers to report harassment through different reporting channels, some of which should be anonymous, and guarantee protection against victimisation. Complaints need to be dealt with fairly, quickly, and confidentially.

 414.
Leadership And Culture

 415.
Directors and officers must cultivate an environment that forbids sexual harassment and are encouraged to do so indirectly through frequent communications, respectful behaviour modelling, and holding people responsible.

 416.
Ongoing Training and Monitoring

 417.
Inductions, refresher training, and supervisor guidance should reflect the Code’s principles. You must monitor your organisation’s practices to ensure continuous improvement.

 418.
It’s no longer enough to have a passive grievance process. Employers must adopt Safe work environment policies that actively prevent harassment through smarter workplace design, robust training, supervision, and leadership accountability.

 419.
It’s Not Just WHS—The SDA Positive Duty Still Applies

 420.
Alongside your WHS responsibilities, the Sex Discrimination Act (SDA) also places a positive duty on employers to proactively prevent:

 421.

 422.
Sexual harassment

 423.
Sex-based discrimination
424.

 425.
Hostile working environments
426.

 427.

 428.
This legal overlap means PCBUs must align their workplace health and safety policy with the SDA, ensuring they don’t fall short by addressing only one legal framework.

 429.
The Cost of Non-Compliance

 430.
Non-compliance with the Sexual Harassment Code of Practice 2025, issued under section 274 of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011, can result in serious legal and operational consequences for Australian businesses. As stated in the Code’s foreword, it is an approved code of practice and may be used in court proceedings under the WHS Act and Regulations. Courts may rely on the code as evidence of what is known about a hazard, risk, or appropriate control measure and to determine what is reasonably practicable in a given context. Regulatory bodies, such as Worksafe inspectors, may also refer to the Code when issuing improvement or prohibition notices. These formal actions can lead to legal proceedings and potential financial penalties. If a business is found to have failed in its duty to manage psychosocial risks, including sexual and gender-based harassment. This makes it vital for PCBUs to implement robust safe work environment policies and maintain a strong safety culture.

 431.
Where to From Here? Anitech’s Role in Supporting Compliance

 432.
At Anitech, we work alongside organisations to implement fit-for-purpose WHS systems that meet the evolving regulatory landscape. Our consultants partner with you to:

 435.

 466.

The Australian Government published an important update to national Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations. The new rule came into effect on 25 March 2025, known officially as the Work Health and Safety Amendment (Blood Lead Level Exposure Values) Regulations 2025, and has already changed the way businesses are expected to manage lead exposure in the workplace.

 467.
This update might sound like just another compliance task, but it’s much more than that. If your business operates in an environment where lead is used, stored, disturbed, or processed, these changes directly affect you.

 468.
Let’s break it down clearly and simply, what’s changed, why it matters, and how your business can stay ahead of the curve in 2025.

 469.
Why Did the Government Change the Blood Lead Level Regulations?

 470.
The dangers of exposure to lead are a health concern that is both universally acknowledged and clinically documented. Even low levels of lead in the bloodstream can lead to lasting damage, affecting the nervous system, kidneys, reproductive organs, and brain development. Lead is particularly dangerous because it accumulates in the body over time.

 471.
To reduce the permissible blood lead levels for workers exposed to lead in the workplace. These limits haven’t just been trimmed; they’ve been halved in some cases.

 472.
Australia’s older blood lead level thresholds hadn’t kept pace with modern science or global best practices. In comparison to countries like the United States and members of the European Union, our limits were out of date. After review, Safe Work Australia and other key health agencies recommended lowering these thresholds to better protect workers.

 473.
Now, with the 2025 changes in place, there’s an urgent need for employers to review their systems and controls under the lens of Work Health And Safety and Occupational Health.

 474.
What Exactly Has Changed?

 475.
The update to the WHS Regulations reduces the blood lead level thresholds that trigger workplace actions. Here’s a simplified breakdown of the key changes:

 476.

 477.

 478.

 479.
Scenario

 480.
Previous Limit

 481.
New Limit

 482.

 483.

 484.
General exposure action threshold

 485.
10 µg/dL

 486.
5 µg/dL

 487.

 488.

 489.
Removal from lead-risk work

 490.
30 µg/dL

 491.
10 µg/dL

 492.

 493.

 494.
Re-entry to lead work (post-removal)

 495.
50 µg/dL

 496.
30 µg/dL

 497.

 498.

 499.
Clearance to remain in low-risk work

 500.
10 µg/dL

 501.
5 µg/dL

 502.

 503.

 504.

 505.
In simpler terms:

 506.

 507.
Workers must now be removed from lead-risk work much sooner.

 508.
The threshold at which you’re legally required to take action has dropped.

 509.
You must review and possibly tighten your existing exposure management strategies.

 510.

 511.
What This Means for Your Business

 512.
The responsibility is on you, as a business owner or manager, to review your current practices and ensure they align with the updated compliance requirements. Here’s what you need to do now:

 513.
1. Reassess Your Lead Risk Controls

 514.
Go back to your risk assessments and exposure control plans. Do they still meet the new thresholds? If not, update them urgently.

 515.
2. Review Health Monitoring Protocols

 516.
You’re now required to conduct health monitoring for any worker in lead-risk work sooner and more frequently. You’ll also need to act faster if their blood lead levels rise.

 517.
3. Train and Inform Workers

 518.
Your team needs to understand the risks and the new compliance requirements. Clear, consistent communication and updated training sessions are essential.

 519.
4. Engage Competent Professionals

 520.
Whether it’s occupational hygienists, WHS consultants, or external auditors, get the right people involved. A professional review can help you avoid costly breaches down the track.

 521.
Industries Most Affected

 522.
While every business should be mindful of workplace toxins, the following sectors are more likely to be impacted:

 523.

 524.
Battery manufacturing and recycling

 525.
Smelting and metal foundries

 526.
Construction and demolition

 527.
Paint stripping and surface prep

 528.
Leadlight or stained-glass work

 529.
Shooting ranges (indoor/outdoor)

 530.
Automotive radiator repairs

 531.

 532.
If you’re unsure whether your operations involve lead exposure, now is the time to get expert advice.

 533.
Penalties for Non-Compliance

 534.
The 2025 update to lead exposure regulations operates under the enforcement framework of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (WHS Act). This means that failure to comply with the updated blood lead level requirements may result in enforcement action under existing WHS penalty categories. Here’s what non-compliance can lead to:

 535.

 536.

 537.
Large financial penalties

 538.

 539.

 540.
Businesses may face fines of up to $3 million, while individuals such as company directors or managers can be fined up to $600,000 (Source: https://www.business.qld.gov.au/running-business/whs/whs-laws/penalties ). In severe cases involving reckless conduct, individuals may also face up to 5 years’ imprisonment.

 545.

 546.
WHS inspectors can issue improvement notices or prohibition notices, which can stop parts of your operations until risks are addressed. They can also require your business to enter into enforceable undertakings, placing you under formal regulatory oversight.

 548.

 549.
Mandatory reporting obligations

 550.

 551.

 552.
If a worker’s blood lead level exceeds the new thresholds, your business must notify the relevant WHS authority. Failure to report notifiable incidents is a breach and may lead to further penalties.

 559.

 596.

In today’s world, sustainability has become a buzzword describing strategies a person or organisation can adopt to better protect the planet. Prominent issues such as climate change, soil degradation, energy access, responsible resource management, waste and pollution are at the forefront of sustainability discussions. It is important to understand the concept of sustainability and its impact on the environment and future generations; especially in the present, 2025. This article will explore, the definition of sustainability, its basic principles, how it impacts the environment and the impacts on the ability of future generations to live on Earth.

 597.
What are the principles of sustainability?

 598.
The 3 principles of sustainability explained

 599.
Sustainability principles can be described by the three pillars or interconnected aspects of environmental as well as economic and social sustainability. Environmental sustainability deals with the utilisation of resources and conservation of the environment that fulfils the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future populations to utilise resources. Economic sustainability refers to an economy’s ability to maintain a certain level of economic activity in the long run without causing harm to resources and the environment. Social sustainability focuses on the elimination and equitable distribution of resources and services that enhance community resilience and social integration. These three are at the heart of making decisions which have a lasting positive impact in everyday life.

 600.
How can we adopt sustainable practices in our daily lives?

 601.
Sustainably integrating these principles into our daily lives means making more thoughtful decisions that enhance the environment, economy and society. At the personal level, this entails practicing waste minimisation through proper recycling, utilising energy-efficient appliances, and supporting local brands that have sustainable business practices and are supporting sustainability development. At this level, sustainability would also be in the form of local programs that aim to emphasise the need for green areas, improving public transport, and promoting a circular economy. Environmental impacts and sustainability development should be understood and practiced at all levels of society.

 602.
Why are the principles of sustainability important for creating a greener future?

 603.
The principles of sustainability are important because they define a strategy which helps solve the intricate problems of the environment today. Following these guidelines enables us to lower carbon emissions. As noted by the World Commission on Environment and Development – development is always needed, but paying as much attention to the future is also a necessity. Knowing these principles gives individuals and societies the power to positively impact change.

 604.
What does environmental sustainability mean?

 605.
Looking into environmental sustainability with regard to the natural resources available

 606.
Environmental Sustainability is the careful oversight of the use of natural resources, that is aimed at achieving a balance between maintaining a healthy ecosystem and protecting its diverse forms of life. This means that our way of life should not be based on the overconsumption of resources beyond the ability of the planet to renew itself. In fact, it is necessary to study environmental science and the systems that exist within ecosystems. For example, Over fishing can result to the destruction of marine ecosystems; Deforestation will lead to biodiversity loss. The long-term strategy enables to track environmental sustainability feature for natural resources conservation and balance that allows life to sustain on Earth.

 607.
How does environmental sustainability affect generations to come?

 608.
There is no doubt that environmental sustainability, or lack of it, affects human society greatly. The failure to implement sustainable practices will result in natural resource depletion and the acceleration of global warming. For illustration, exceeding carbon emissions leads to climate change which causes extreme weather and destruction of ecosystems, which poses threats to humanity and wildlife. Integrating sustainability efforts into the workplace now will pay dividends in the future.

 609.
Nations, regardless of their size or wealth, face challenges surrounding outdated infrastructure and outdated resource management strategies that in turn create resistance to change.

 610.
The Implementation of sustainability approaches for local communities to engage in hand-on projects

 611.
Effective implementation of these approaches requires active participation from organisations and local residents. Encouraging community gardening, and clean-up campaigns can enhance social responsibility. Local governments should support these initiatives by providing funding, raising awareness, and offering educational opportunities on resource conservation and environmental protection. This fosters a culture of sustainability, strengthening the community’s resilience to environmental challenges.

 612.
Importance of resource availability in adopting sustainable practices

 613.
Resource scarcity significantly hinders the ability of communities from adopting sustainable practices, such as energy-efficient technologies and waste minimisation methods. Local organisations and businesses can enhance eco-friendly initiatives by organising workshops and providing necessary resources. Furthermore, government policies that promote green technologies and renewable energy are crucial for enabling all communities to embrace sustainability.

 614.
How does economic sustainability enhance community resilience?

 615.
Community resilience is strengthened through economic sustainability, as it supports local economies while aligning with social and environmental goals. Positive business practices, such as investing in the local supply chain and supporting fair employment terms, directly impact economic growth and community welfare. Prioritising economic sustainability helps communities mitigate economic shocks, reduce dependency on external resources, and create sustainable employment opportunities. The interconnectedness of economic, social, and environmental sustainability underscores the importance of an integrated approach to community development and urbanisation.

 616.
What are some ways to promote sustainability by reducing waste?

 617.
Calculating the impact of recycling on sustainability

 618.
One of the easiest and most straightforward ways to combat waste and promote sustainability is by implementing effective recycling methods such as participating in Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme. Communities can reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills by creating strong programs that inform the public about how to sort and dispose of waste correctly. Additionally, it also helps reuse natural resources and significantly reduces carbon emissions produced while creating new products. Moreover, as part of a circular economy, it motivates the design of products that are easier to breakdown at the end of its life, which promotes sustainable manufacturing.

 619.
Ways to implement sustainability in daily activities

 620.
Every person can incorporate sustainability in their daily life through making small changes that promote environmentally friendly behaviour. These include, but are not limited to, the use of reusable grocery bags, limiting the consumption of water, energy efficiency and buying appliances or other devices that save energy. In addition, people can encourage sustainability by buying from companies that are green and supporting legislation that is green at the federal and local level, especially those that use the United Nations Sustainable Development goals, industry experts and environmental studies as a guideline. Incorporating these measures into our life builds a sustainable future for everyone and motivates other people to adopt the same lifestyle.

 621.
The use of sustainable development approaches to mitigate pollution

 622.
Sustainable development strategies are the foundation for lowering pollution, and pollution control is an essential element of sustainability. Creating legislation that supports clean energy sources, enhancing public transit, and fostering industry change towards sustainable practices are some of the methods to accomplish this goal. Sustainable urbanism and sustainable construction improves the chances of creating pollution free ecosystems which boosts life and reduces pollution. It is not just the environment that gets improved by using sustainable approaches to tackle pollution; public health, social equity and economic development is protected as well, creating a sustainable planet for future generations.

 623.
What is the relation between climate change and sustainability?

 624.
The effects of Climate Change on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Resources

 625.
Climate change presents a clear and immediate danger to biodiversity and ecosystems by changing environments and causing some species to disappear altogether. Environmental sustainability is highly reliant on climate action as sustainable methods could help alleviate the impacts of anthropogenic climate change. Ecosystems can be made more robust, and the state of the planet improved through the reduction of carbon emissions, the preservation of natural areas, and the advancement of diversity conservation. This highlights the importance of understanding climate change and sustainability for developing ways to safeguard the planet, its species and future generations to meet their own needs.

 626.
Actions to Achieve Sustainability and Mitigate Climate Change

 627.
Combatting climate change requires the application of sustainable strategies throughout different scopes, thus taking a more holistic approach. These include the adoption of new forms of energy, enhanced energy effectiveness, and better sustainable routes of transportation. Teaching and learning are essential in developing inclusive communities with a focus on sustainability for the purpose of tackling climate change. By facilitating the adoption of sustainable practices by the public and private sectors, greenhouse gas emissions are greatly reduced. Joint efforts among countries, established populations, and community members is key to developing useful strategic methods needed for tackling climate change.

 628.
Why look after the ecosystems for the Future Generations

 629.
Looking after ecosystems and ensuring that they are healthy is extremely important. Resilient ecosystems provide essential services, such as clean air and water, pollination, and climate regulation, all of which are vital for both human and ecological life. By taking steps towards protecting biodiversity and implementing sustainable practices, we set up a solid environmental foundation and conserve more of the planet. Every action taken today will impact the current state of the environment and how future generations will be able to sustain themselves. Viewing and treating sustainability with utmost importance goes a long way in ensuring a world that is healthy and thriving for years to come.

 648.

Sustainable success, in any business, depends on the care taken regarding Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) policies. These three letters have become more important in recent times for a company’s success, as corporate social responsibly or CSR grow in prominence. This article will examine what exactly ESG is, implementation strategies and benefits a business will gain through implementation.

 649.
What is ESG and Why is it Important for Your Business?

 650.
Understanding ESG: Environmental, Social, and Governance Factors

 651.
Investors that have vastly different points of views, set ESG criteria to determine socially responsible investments. Environmental aspects include emissions and resource usage as well as its initiatives to shift towards renewable energy. Social factors relate to the company’s dealings with its employees, suppliers, customers, and the community. Governance aspects focus on the company’s top management and the systems of internal control and protection of shareholder interests. Understanding these factors is fundamental to any business leader, because how stakeholders perceive the firm and its ESG actions influence company reputation.

 652.
The Effect of ESG Metrics on Business Performance

 653.
Business performance can be enhanced greatly through the implementation of ESG metrics by improving operational performance, creating innovations, and lowering risks. Businesses that understand managing their ESG goals are likely to experience positive impact on their bottom line. Factors such as carbon emissions, diversity and inclusion at the workplace, and corporate governance are more and more connected to profit and loss. Investers are more likely to fund companies who adopt long term sustainable and responsible business practices, therefore having a higher willingness to invest.

 654.
Why Investors Care About ESG Issues in 2025

 655.
Investors in 2025 are more sophisticated than in the past when it comes to scrutinising ESG issues. Modern investors are concerned about profit margin, but are also looking at how companies deal with sociocultural and environmental issues. This change is due to the increased belief that socially responsible businesses will perform better in managing risks while taking advantage of new opportunities. Investors are paying more attention to ESG performance and demanding for socially responsible investment or SRI. Companies are being required to develop clear ESG policies and sustainability objectives for their business strategies.

 656.
How a Company Can Follow ESG and Sustainability Models

 657.
Steps to Achieve ESG Targets in Business Strategies

 658.
Fulfilling ESG targets is key to achieving long-term business goals, so sustainability integration is necessary. Begin by evaluating existing practices for improvement possibilities. It is crucial to widen the scope of consultation to staff members, shareholders, and even investment ESG concerns so their views can be considered. Establishing an ESG program with clearly defined goals, indicators, and reporting protocols is equally important. This program must be integrated into the company’s mission, values, vision and business philosophy to every employee ensure its life.

 659.
Tools and Resources for Developing ESG Strategies

 660.
Applying ESG initiatives requires a sophisticated set of instruments and comprehensive measures. ESG consultancy and technology services, help businesses learn and apply latest ESG standards and even self-evaluate their environmental performance qualitatively. ESG data analytic platforms are one example of advanced technology that allows businesses to enhance their data collection, filtration, analysis, and reporting accuracy regarding sustainability. Moreover, industry experts can motivate and offer practical help to colleagues through participation and ESG training sessions designed to meet organisational objectives.

 661.
Challenges in Implementing ESG: What You Need To Know

 662.
One of the greatest challenges that businesses face when implementing practices of sustainability is the risk of greenwashing. This refers to the danger where companies misrepresent their efforts on sustainability by claiming to be socially responsible while not really making an effort. This can lead to doubts among stakeholders, which can harm the organisation’s image. Some employees and even some leaders may not want to adapt to this new way of doing things. This can and has occurred in the past due, to decreased cultural inclusivity along the company hierarchy’s organisational structure. There must be clear policies to aid the benefits ESG promotes, in order to nurture inclusivity and foster sustainability culture in the entire organisation.

 663.
What are the Benefits of ESG for Business Growth?

 664.
Different organisations and companies stand to gain a lot by using ESG practices in various sectors. For example, companies that focus on environmental responsibility spend less in changing how they manage their emissions and energy. Once organisations set their business goals, they can also set their ESG objectives. These companies stand out from the market and attract consumers and investors while building the company’s brand and increasing market loyalty.

 665.
The Role of ESG in Business Risk Management

 666.
Risk management plays a large role in ESG, identifying and addressing issues before they turn into a crisis. Companies willing to deal with emissions and resource depletion environmental issues are more likely to cope with negative regulations and public issues. Companies need to manage ESG-related issues early to become ahead of the curve.

 667.
Improving ESG Scores: Strategies for Your Business

 668.
Improvements in ESG score require aligning best practices with sustainability objectives. Begin by setting specific measures for ESG performance and periodically evaluate the performance vis-a-vis the set standards. Engaging employees in sustainability initiatives helps in setting a culture of responsibility and creativity. Another area that helps build trust among stakeholders is communication about ESG. You can display good faith regarding supportive ESG engagement and improve the company’s reputation and attractiveness for investors by communicating the progress as well as challenges faced towards achieving ESG goals.

 669.
How Do Stakeholders Perceive ESG and Sustainability?

 670.
The Perspectives of Investors Regarding ESG

 671.
Investors are treating ESG considerations as primary within their investment activities. Investors tend to appreciate that companies that maintain ESG responsible practices are likely to be more durable and provide good returns. Hence, there is a growing demand among investors for more detailed disclosures concerning business impacts and practices relating to ESG. This change confirms the need for integrating business strategies with investor’s expectations, so that companies implement ESG initiatives which are meaningful to their constituents.

 672.
Analysing Stakeholder Issues On ESG Concerns

 673.
ESG driven stakeholder concerns may relate to the environment, working conditions, business management, openness of the company, and many more. In-depth appreciation of these concerns is crucial for companies intending to strengthen their stakeholder relationships. Companies may use surveys, construct dialogues, and attend to certain responses in order to determine relevant ESG issues from their stakeholders. By addressing these issues, organisations can improve reputation and build confidence with customers, employees and investors.

 674.
The Significance of Clarity in ESG Reports

 675.
Having a transparent ESG report is important to show how responsibly the company engages stakeholders. A company’s reporting and describing on ESG activities has to be precise, dependable, and detailed. That entails releasing information on emissions, social resource utilisation, and describing the governance level in place. Companies that are ESG compliant and responsible will have positive engagement from the consumers and investors.

 676.
What are the New Trends in ESG and Sustainability for 2025?

 677.
New ESG Patterns and How They Influence Business Decisions

 678.
There is no doubt that 2025 will bring about new emerging ESG metrics that affect how businesses practice sustainability. Investors are looking beyond conventional measures such as carbon emissions to include social impacts and governance diversity. Companies need to change their decision-making processes to include more ESG factors. This change can lead to solutions that are more holistic and take into consideration the environment, social matters, and governance affairs in greater detail.

 679.
Social Responsibility Factors Under ESG Policies

 680.
As corporations accept social responsibility, two aspects under consideration are diversity and inclusion. Companies that focus on building a workforce with diversity not only portray responsible citizenship but also cherish different views that are helpful in devising creative and innovative solutions. Businesses in 2025, are making strides towards creating ways for all employees to have the chance to partake in decision-making, which will give a significant boost to the overall ESG performance of the company. This shows how business policies must also reflect integration of social factors.

 681.
Upcoming Prospects: ESG and Sustainability within the Corporate Environment

 682.
The ESG and sustainability forecasts in the business environment are both challenging and promising. Companies will continuously evolve their ESG frameworks in response to emerging trends and the global sphere of influence considering the needs of consumers and investors. In addition, the amalgamation of technology and data analytics will greatly enhance ESG performance and reporting. Companies that accept this transformational change will improve their ESG scores and positively impact the economy.

 701.

Let’s be honest – scams are more than pop-ups or an occasional suspicious email. They are indeed a billion-dollar nuisance right across Australia, putting ordinary people in financial trouble and making all of us more wary of doing business online.

 702.
And that’s where the Scams Prevention Framework (SPF) of the Australian Government comes in. It’s a game changer, in every sense of the word, and if you are in business – especially banking, telcos, or online platforms – you need to know how this is going to impact you.

 703.
So, then, what is this framework?

 704.
In effect, the SPF transfers part of responsibility from consumers to business. Instead of telling consumers “Be careful online,” now companies are being told by the government “you need to do your part to protect your customers.”

 705.
This system targets scams where an individual tries to trick consumers to release money or personal information. Look at those bank phish texts asking you to “validate your information” or those investment proposals that sound too good to be true that you are sent through your social media.

 706.
The SPF does not include old-fashioned credit card scams where someone’s card is stolen, or defective product issues (there is other law to handle those). It’s to help everyday Australians and small business operators from being caught out by scams that exploit online facilities.

 707.
What will your business need to do?

 708.
If you are in a regulated sector, you will need to take reasonable measures in three respects:

 709.

 710.
Prevent scams from even reaching your customers. It is as simple as screening out suspicious communication or removing bogus ads from your site. It’s similar to putting in place security fencing before anything happens.

 711.
Catch scam activity early when it does happen. You might need to have systems flagging suspicious behaviour or suspect transactions. The sooner you catch something suspicious, the more likely that you will be able to bring it down.

 712.
Disrupt active scams to minimise harm. This includes freezing suspicious transactions, reaching out to customers who might already be victimised by them, or adding extra steps to verify when something seems off.

 713.

 714.
Banks, telcos, and online platforms are first in line for these new obligations. To clarify this, you will shortly see mandatory sectoral codes of practice that explain in detail what “reasonable steps” are for your sector.

 715.
You need to share your knowledge.

 716.
One of the truly smart things about this system is recognising that no one business receives the full picture. It will then be your responsibility to report instances of scams that you detect to the ACCC, who will share information with other businesses as well as with law enforcement.

 717.
This collective system makes sure that when one business learns about a novel scam technique, all the rest are able to update their defence in good time. It’s neighbourhood watch, but in cyberspace – and makes Australia very much more difficult to scam from other parts of the globe.

 718.
What if you don’t keep up?

 719.
Penalties are severe – up to $50 million in fines. In addition, if your business owes money to a customer as a result of failing to fulfill an order, then they are entitled to redress through existing redress arrangements.

 720.
The framework also makes complaint processes more transparent. Your business will need to have transparent internal processes for dealing with disputes, and customers have the ability to escalate outstanding complaints to an independent body such as the Australian Financial Complaints Authority. There is also a “no wrong door” principle – customers are able to report to whatever business engaged in their scam experience, and businesses will need to work together to sort out the issue.

 721.
The bottom line

 722.
This is not another box to check in terms of compliance. This is about actively being involved in combating scams that victimise your customers and undermine confidence in doing business online.

 723.
In fact, to do so will mean reviewing your processes, possibly making an investment in technology, and training your staff to identify and respond to attempted scams. There is also, however, an opportunity to demonstrate that you are concerned with keeping customers secure, and with how to improve relationships in the process. Ditch “buyer beware” and passing the bucket of responsibility. We are all in this together now – and probably always have been. By doing things correctly in the spirit of the SPF, you are not only keeping to the letter of the law; you are also assisting in keeping communities online safer where your customers can interact in confidence.

 742.

From 2024 to 2027, WorkSafe QLD is changing the way health and safety is managed in the workplace by introducing a new transformation approach Proactive Compliance Program that focuses on workplace safety culture. It aims to build a strong safety culture across Queensland by enforcing proactive interventions instead of traditional, reactive enforcement strategies. This program takes a holistic approach by seeking to strengthen the employer’s ability to manage both physical and psychosocial risks while preventing incidents from happening.

 743.
Shifting Toward Proactive Safety Culture

 744.
Going from Action-Based to Prevention-Based

 745.
For a long time, safety practices in the workplace have concentrated on responding to incidents eg:post mortem, or punishing after the fact. The new methodology of WorkSafe QLD includes the following:

 746.
Early Identification of Risks: Performing targeted, risk-based inspections to identify and eliminate risks before they contribute to incidents.

 747.
Preventive Engagements: Getting in touch with employers with the potential of resolving issues or injuries before they take place.

 748.
Enhanced Practices: Adapting and modifying safety policies and practices, using continuous feedback, and performance indicators so they meet the changes in the workplace.

 749.
Fostering a Collaborative Culture of Safety

 750.
The strongest component in the program’s framework is that safety is treated as a partnership issue and thus managed collectively. For this purpose, WorkSafe QLD is promoting:

 751.
Clear Communication: Setting up systems for interactions between regulators, employees, and employers so that they can suggest ways through which safety systems can be enhanced.

 752.
Educational Outreach: Relating workshops, training sessions, and resources that simplify WHS requirements and encourage the adoption of best practice approaches.

 753.
Tailored Support: Relates advice and support for developing sound internal safety systems that best suit the needs of the clients’ businesses.

 754.
Strategic Pillars and Key Components

 756.
A risk-based approach to field services is a core element of the program. Its hallmark features include:

 757.
Focus on High Risk Workplaces: Greater monitoring and allocation of resources to places where there is a greater likelihood of suffering damage.

 766.
In the program, a major aspect is the use of data for enhanced safety outcomes.

 767.
Collection of Data: There will be systematic inspections, audits, and feedback activities to collect safety-related information in detail.

 768.
Insights as They Happen: There is an increased use of analytics to anticipate risks and therefore, intervention activities can be focused on areas that need the most attention.

 769.
Review Performance Indicators: Set indicators for the 2024–2027 period to ensure continuous monitoring and improvement.

 772.
This program has strategically targeted industry sectors where workplace risks are statistically higher and determinants are known so in so doing, significant impact can be made:

 773.
Construction: It sustains significant attention as it has a high rate of incidents attributed to falls, height work and working with cranes.
