46.
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has weighed in on the growing concerns over the network’s staking exit queue, which has now stretched to more than six weeks.

 47.
In a Sept. 18 post on X, Buterin framed the process as a deliberate design choice rather than a flaw, comparing it to the discipline of military service.

 48.
According to Buterin, staking is not a casual activity but a commitment to defend the network. In that light, frictions such as exit delays serve as safeguards.

 49.
“An army cannot hold together if any percent of it can suddenly leave at any time,” he wrote, stressing that Ethereum’s reliability depends on ensuring validators cannot abandon their role instantaneously.

 50.
However, Buterin conceded that the current design is not perfect. Nevertheless, he argued:

 51.

 52.
“That’s not to say that the current staking queue design is optimal, rather that if you reduce the constants naively then that makes the chain much less trustworthy from the PoV of any node that does not go online very frequently.”

 53.

 54.
Buterin’s remarks echoed the perspective of Sreeram Kannan, founder of restaking protocol EigenLayer.

 55.
In his own post on Sept. 17, Kannan described Ethereum’s prolonged exit period as “a conservative parameter” that acts as a vital security measure.

 56.
He explained that the wait time protects against worst-case scenarios, such as coordinated validator attacks where participants might attempt to exit before facing slashing penalties.

 57.
Considering this, Kannan warned:

 58.

 59.
“Unstaking cannot be instantaneous.”

 60.

 61.
He continued that shortening the process to a matter of days could expose Ethereum to attacks that drain its security assumptions.

 62.
By contrast, the longer window allows for detecting and punishing malicious behavior such as double-signing. This design ensures that misbehaving validators cannot easily escape accountability.

 63.
Kannan highlighted that this buffer allows inactive nodes to reconnect and periodically validate the correct fork. He argued that competing forks could each claim to be valid without such a mechanism, leaving offline nodes unable to determine the truth when rejoining.

 64.
He concluded:

 65.

 66.
“Instead of having a fixed long unstaking period, ethereum engineered its exit queue to be instantaneous if only a small amount of stake withdrew in a given period. But if lot of stake wants to withdraw the queue builds up – worst case to several months.”

 67.

 68.
This strong defense comes at a time when Ethereum’s exit queue has hit historic highs.

 69.
Data from the Ethereum Validators Queue shows that the unstaking backlog now spans 43 days, with over 2.48 million ETH, valued at approximately $11.3 billion, awaiting withdrawal.

 91.

 92.
There’s little doubt that Tether has conquered the world with USDT. With a market cap of $171 billion, it outpaces all other stablecoins combined.

 93.
Earlier this month, Tether introduced a new U.S. dollar stablecoin, USA₮, to compete with USDC in the domestic market under U.S. law.

 94.
The company named Bo Hines to lead its U.S. unit and build issuance and custody around Anchorage Digital and Cantor Fitzgerald, a move disclosed after Congress enacted a federal framework for fiat-referenced tokens.

 95.
USA₮, or USAT, is designed to meet the new regime’s reserve and disclosure requirements. The legislative backdrop arrived on July 18 when the GENIUS Act was signed, setting monthly reserve attestations, high-quality liquid asset backing, and clear supervisory lanes for both bank and qualified non-bank issuers.

 96.
The competitive field tightened further after Circle completed an initial public offering that raised about $1.05 billion, with shares priced at $31.

 97.
The near-term contest now centers on onshore distribution and reserve income

 98.
U.S. merchants and payment processors want tokens that fit cleanly within money-movement and treasury policies. This means monthly reserve certifications, bankruptcy-remote structures, and straightforward redemption mechanics.

 99.
The GENIUS Act bans issuer-paid yield, which puts the commercial model on a float scale and operating efficiency.

 100.
Circle’s structure routes most reserves into BlackRock’s Circle Reserve Fund, a money-market-style vehicle invested in short-dated Treasuries and repurchase agreements, while Tether has reported a large U.S. Treasury footprint that has grown with stablecoin demand.

 101.
Stablecoin transfer volumes reached multi-trillion levels this year, reminding treasurers that liquidity and chain coverage now matter as much as brand.

 102.
Policy harmonization outside the U.S. will shape merchant access. The UK’s Financial Conduct Authority closed its consultation on issuance and custody in July, with the Bank of England considering caps on systemic holdings. Per the FCA consultation CP25/14, authorization, safeguarding, and disclosure are set to tighten in parallel with central bank oversight.

 103.
Hong Kong’s licensing regime took effect on August 1 under the HKMA, and Singapore’s MAS framework for single-currency stablecoins already prescribes reserve composition, capital, and five-day par redemptions.

 104.
A U.S. coin that fits GENIUS rules, a UK coin that meets FCA and BoE requirements, and an MAS-labeled instrument create a pathway for issuers to distribute across major financial hubs without bespoke workarounds.

 105.
Payments rails will be the practical governor of share capture through 2027

 106.
Visa has expanded stablecoin settlement to additional networks and to EURC, a step that helps issuers reach acquirers and cross-border payouts with less friction. PayPal extended PYUSD to Arbitrum and outlined Stellar plans, which shows how processors can pull settlement off congested chains when throughput and fees matter for merchant experience.

 107.
Distribution through wallets, acquirers, and card networks puts a premium on integration speed, reporting, fraud tooling, and fiat off-ramps, not only on the unit economics of reserve yields.

 108.
Monthly volumes in USDT and USDC already rival major electronic payment corridors, so small checkout routing or payment settlement improvements can shift token preference in merchant flows.

 109.
The onshore float that fits the U.S. framework will set the scoreboard for the next two years, and the numbers drive clear ranges.

 110.
A base case assumes $400 billion of U.S. onshore stablecoins by late 2026 and $650 billion by late 2027.

 111.
In that path, USDC holds 60 to 65 percent of the onshore pool as a public issuer with established bank and fintech integrations, while USAT reaches 20 to 25 percent as U.S. listings, custody, and settlement partners come online.

 112.
An upside path for Tether lifts the onshore pool to $450 billion by 2026 and $750 billion by 2027, with USAT rising to 30 to 35 percent if Anchorage and Cantor-linked plumbing accelerates adoption in U.S. venues.

 113.
A more conservative path for Tether and faster bank adoption of USDC will push USDC to a 70 to 75% share of a smaller $550 billion pool by 2027.

 114.
These are merchant and policy outcomes, not marketing narratives, and the driver is partner coverage across issuers, acquirers, and custodians.

 149.
Reserves tell the macro story that sits underneath market share

 150.
If U.S. onshore stablecoins reach one trillion dollars of float by 2027, the implied Treasury bill bid ranges from $600 billion to $900 billion, depending on whether issuers run 60 to 90 percent in bills.

 151.
The composition matters because front-end yields respond to large, persistent buyers. According to the Bank for International Settlements, strong net inflows to stablecoins have been associated with a modest fall in three-month bill yields over short windows, while outflows show larger adverse effects.

 152.
The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City has warned that an asset shift into bills can lower credit supply elsewhere, which introduces questions for bank funding models if stablecoins absorb deposits at scale.

 183.
The U.S. law reframes how merchants and banks treat tokenized dollars. Monthly reserve disclosures and asset quality rules move these instruments near regulated cash equivalents in many treasurer policies, even as the law bans issuer yield.

 184.
That policy architecture favors issuers that already speak the language of attestation and custody segregation. It also gives U.S. banks and broker-dealers a clearer footing for custody and settlement services, which matters for U.S. exchanges, money transmitters, and fintech lenders that handle customer funds.

 185.
According to the FCA and HKMA outlines, similar directions are taking shape in the UK and Hong Kong, which could simplify cross-listing of compliant dollar tokens once licensing is granted.

 186.
Market structure details will decide the next step

 187.
Bank relationships determine where corporate treasurers hold working balances. Processor integrations determine which token a merchant sees at checkout.

 188.
Exchange and brokerage tools determine which stablecoin dominates retail balances in U.S. venues. Those practical steps tie back to reserves and disclosures, since issuers with transparent asset ladders, frequent attestations, and predictable redemption windows tend to pass compliance reviews with fewer exceptions.

 189.
Lender demand for tokenized dollars in repo and prime brokerage will add a separate use case that depends on settlement finality and counterparty rules.

 190.
The headline question is who wins a two-to-four trillion dollar market over the decade. The next two years will not answer that total addressable market number, however, they will lock in the first tier of onshore share.

 191.
USDC enters with a public company wrapper, embedded money-market structure, and established relationships across card networks, acquirers, and custodians.

 192.
USAT brings Tether’s liquidity footprint and a U.S. legal shell that meets the monthly-disclosure test, along with a buildout that includes Anchorage Digital and Cantor Fitzgerald.

 193.
The issuer configuration is set, and with the GENIUS Act in effect, implementation timelines now govern the pace.

 215.

 216.
Bitcoin price trades near $117,000 after the Federal Reserve decision on interest rates, as the 1,065-day post-halving window approaches.

 217.
The Fed cut rates by 25bps yesterday, placing Bitcoin’s near-term path at the intersection of policy and a cycle marker Axios says has historically captured a “final high” roughly 1,065 days after a prior cycle low.

 218.
The test window runs through late September and early October, then the market will trade into Thanksgiving on flow, dollar, and rate dynamics that can either extend the advance or start the topping process that prior cycles paired with drawdowns of 40 to 60 percent, according to Axios.

 219.
Spot ETF demand is the first lever to watch because it turns the cycle into a flow problem. According to CoinShares’ latest weekly fund-flow update, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs saw renewed net inflows in late August and early September, measured in billions of dollars, while SoSoValue tracked a mid-September multi-session inflow streak with a single-day print of around $260 million on September 15.

 220.
Those figures contrast with the post-halving issuance of about 452 Bitcoin per day, calculated as 3.125 Bitcoin per block times roughly 144 blocks per day. When multi-day ETF demand absorbs several thousand Bitcoin per week, the market’s ability to distribute inventory at the highs narrows, and topping processes can lengthen into a plateau rather than a single peak.

 221.
Macro conditions set the second lever.

 222.
This month, the euro touched a four-year high against the dollar as cut expectations increased, while front-end Treasury yields eased into the meeting.

 223.
A softer dollar lowers global financial conditions and often correlates with higher beta across risk assets. At the same time, domestic inflation has cooled from last year’s pace, with August headline CPI at 2.5 percent year over year and core at 3.0 percent, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

 224.
The policy outcome will shape whether those tailwinds persist or fade. Throughout the rest of 2025, cuts with dovish language that emphasizes progress on inflation and downplays the need for quick reversals would support the dollar’s drift lower and extend the risk window.

 225.
Cuts that emphasizes vigilance on inflation and a limited runway for further easing would keep rates sticky and reduce the impulse. A no-cut outcome was a low-probability branch, yet it would have tightened financial conditions into quarter-end and left ETF demand to carry more of the load.

 226.
Mining economics frame how deeply price moves are transmitted to the supply side. Hashrate has hovered around 1.0 to 1.12 zettahash per second in recent weeks, with network difficulty near a record around 136 trillion, according to Hashrate Index tracking.

 227.
That backdrop keeps hashprice near 53 to 55 dollars per petahash per day, levels broadly consistent with Luxor’s spot readings this month. Because hashprice scales roughly with Bitcoin price and inversely with hashrate, bands for Q4 can be approximated by combining price paths with modest hashrate creep as new rigs energize. Fees remain a smaller component in the current lull, so price carries most of the signal into miner cash flow.

 290.
The placement of the cycle clock matters for how those bands are interpreted

 291.
Axios frames prior “final highs” occurring near the 1,065-day mark, then transitioning to drawdowns that were less severe in the ETF era than in earlier cycles. That adds a second read-through for investors watching the tape into early October.

 292.
My own analysis flagged Nov. 1 as a potential date for the cycle peak based on previous cycle peaks extending from the last halving by roughly 100 days.

 293.

Bitcoin halving cycles

 294.
However, if the window delivers a high and ETF demand remains strong, the outcome can be a rounded top with shallower retracements.

 295.
If the window passes without a new high and flows turn mixed, the market can migrate toward the middle cells of the grid where price oscillates under the prior peak while hashprice is constrained by gradual hashrate increases.

 296.
Policy tone will color the flow of data almost immediately. Per Business Insider’s breakdown of meeting paths, a dovish cut converts to an easier dollar backdrop and a steeper risk appetite curve, which historically pulls incremental demand into equities and crypto, while a hawkish cut narrows that curve and puts more weight on idiosyncratic flows.

 297.
A no-cut outcome would have tested the lower bands in the table since it removes the near-term easing impulse and tends to firm the dollar. The CPI profile reduces the need for restrictive surprises, according to the BLS figures, yet the chair’s emphasis on data dependence can keep rate-path uncertainty in the foreground even if a first cut arrives.

 298.
ETF flow streaks are the cleanest high-frequency metric to monitor against this policy backdrop. CoinShares’ weekly data provide size and regional composition, and SoSoValue’s daily tallies map whether the post-announcement sessions extend or fade the bid.

 299.
Translating those numbers into supply absorption is straightforward

 300.
At $115,000 to $120,000 per Bitcoin, one billion dollars of net inflow equates to roughly 8,300 to 8,700 Bitcoin. Weekly net inflows of $1.5 to $2.5 billion imply 13,000 to 21,000 Bitcoin, or roughly four to seven times weekly issuance.

 301.
Sustained ratios above one, even with moderate outflows on some days, build a structural cushion under spot that can pull realized volatility lower and compress the left tail in the upper grid cells.

 302.
Miner balance sheets turn from a trailing indicator to a stress indicator if price trades the lower bands. With difficulty near a record and electricity costs rising for some operators, the combination of price dips toward 95,000 dollars and steady hashrate would push hashprice into the low 40s per petahash per day.

 303.
That level typically reopens hedging activity and delayed capex rather than wholesale shutdowns, although company-level thresholds vary. According to Hashrate Index updates on public miner expansions, capacity additions remain in the pipeline, so hashrate creep of 3 to 7 percent into November is a reasonable working assumption for the table above.

 304.
Through Thanksgiving, the narrative anchor remains the same.

 305.
The market is weighing a first policy cut that shapes the dollar and front-end rates, ETF net demand that either absorbs or releases supply relative to a 452-Bitcoin daily issuance, and an approaching 1,065-day cycle marker that Axios argues historically aligns with a final high and subsequent drawdown.

 306.
The window falls in late September and early October, then attention shifts to whether post-decision flows and macro conditions confirm or reject the cycle script.

 329.
Ripple is expanding its role in digital asset infrastructure through a new partnership with DBS Bank and Franklin Templeton, according to a Sept. 18 announcement.

 330.
According to the firm, the collaboration introduces trading and lending tools built around tokenized collateral and stablecoins, marking a push to bridge traditional markets with blockchain-based liquidity.

 331.
The initiative is anchored on DBS Digital Exchange (DDEx), which will now list Ripple’s US dollar stablecoin (RLUSD) alongside sgBENJI, the tokenized version of Franklin Templeton’s OnChain US Dollar Short-Term Money Market Fund.

 332.
This pairing allows institutional clients to exchange stable assets directly, providing both portfolio flexibility and yield opportunities not typically available in volatile crypto markets.

 333.
Instead of allocating funds to Bitcoin, Ethereum, or XRP, where sharp price movements arguably erode value, clients can rotate into sgBENJI and maintain round-the-clock liquidity.

 334.
These firms’ executives have framed this development as a step forward in institutionalizing tokenized securities.

 335.
Ripple President Monica Long noted that tokenized assets must offer utility and liquid secondary markets to achieve their potential. She pointed to this collaboration as an example of how stablecoins and tokenized funds can work together to provide practical financial infrastructure.

 336.
Franklin Templeton to expand to XRP Ledger

 337.
Franklin Templeton is preparing to expand its token interoperability by launching sgBENJI on the XRP Ledger.

 338.
Roger Bayston, Head of Digital Assets at Franklin Templeton, emphasized that tokenization can “reshape the global financial ecosystem” and highlighted the role of the blockchain network in unlocking new use cases for securities trading.

 339.
According to RWA.xyz data, the fund is already live on seven other blockchains, including Stellar, Arbitrum, and Base, and currently manages more than $736 million in tokenized assets.

 340.
The integration with the XRP Ledger is expected to push adoption further and strengthen cross-chain functionality.

 341.
At the same time, DBS is preparing to allow clients to post sgBENJI tokens as collateral for repurchase agreements with banks or as security on third-party lending platforms.

 342.
The firm argued that this would extend liquidity channels for institutional investors while assuring lenders of tokenized, regulated fund exposure.

 364.

 365.
The first US spot exchange-traded fund tied to XRP will begin trading today, and analysts believe it could unlock billions in institutional inflows within its first year.

 366.
REX-Osprey, the issuer behind the fund, confirmed that the product, trading under the ticker XRPR, will list on the CBOE BZX Exchange. The company will also roll out a Dogecoin fund under the ticker DOJE today.

 367.
However, investor attention is firmly centered on XRP.

 368.
This is unsurprising considering anticipation around XRP-linked ETFs has been building for months, with more than a dozen similar applications still awaiting review at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

 369.
As a result, Nate Geraci, president of Nova Dius Wealth, described the XRP ETF as a “litmus test” for whether investor enthusiasm can stretch to the Ripple-linked digital asset.

 370.
XRP ETF inflows could reach billions

 371.
CryptoSlate spoke to several market experts who believe that XRP-focused funds, including XRPR, could attract as much as $8 billion in fresh capital during their first trading year.

 372.
Julio Moreno, head of research at CryptoQuant, estimated that between 1% and 4% of XRP’s circulating supply could be absorbed by ETFs in the first year, equivalent to 600 million to 2.4 billion tokens, or $1.8 to $7.2 billion at current prices.

 373.
Such levels, he argued, would meaningfully improve liquidity while establishing XRP as a more mature investment vehicle in institutional portfolios.

 374.
Meanwhile, Bitget’s Chief Marketing Officer Jamie Elkaleh was much more bullish as he told CryptoSlate that inflows could reach between $4 billion and $8 billion within the first year. He added that such momentum could push XRP’s price toward the $4-$8 range by year-end.

 375.
According to him, this is similar to the early trajectory success of Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs, which attracted record flows at launch.

 376.
Notably, Bitcoin-focused funds attracted more than $100 billion in assets within their first year of trading. In comparison, their Ethereum counterparts have seen over $10 billion in inflows within the last three months.

 377.
However, Elkaleh also warned that lingering regulatory delays or heightened market volatility could temper those projections.

 378.
How ETF fees could impact flows

 379.
On the other hand, analysts at Bitunix outlined a more scenario-based forecast where fees play a significant role in influencing the flows.

 380.
In their base case, the ETF could attract $500 million to $1.5 billion in its first month and $1–3 billion in the first quarter of trading.

 381.
Under a bearish setup, where fees are high or distribution channels are limited, inflows might shrink to as little as $200-500 million initially. Conversely, if fees remain low and brokerages offer wide access from day one, inflows could climb to $3-5 billion within three months.

 382.
The analysts explained that their projections are based on the Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF launch data, which were adjusted for XRP’s smaller market position and liquidity structure.

 383.
They also pointed out that XRP lacks the “legacy trust redemption overhang” that constrained Bitcoin and Ethereum inflows, suggesting its early numbers may appear cleaner.

 384.
So, if the XRP ETF inflows capture even 2-6% of the circulating supply within the first quarter, this could lead to significant price appreciation for the digital token.

 407.
CME Group announced it would launch options tied to Solana (SOL) and XRP futures by Oct. 13, according to a Sept. 17 statement.

 408.
According to the firm, the options product will be offered on standard and micro contracts for both tokens, with expiries available weekly throughout the year.

 409.
The exchange said these contracts are designed to meet growing demand from institutions and professional traders looking for tools beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum.

 410.
Unlike its futures product, which binds traders to buy or sell at a set price on a future date, the options product provides investors with the right, but not the obligation, to enter into those contracts. That flexibility allows market participants to hedge downside risks or leverage price movements more precisely.

 411.
Giovanni Vicioso, CME’s global head of crypto products, said:

 412.

 413.
“The launch of these options contracts builds on the significant growth and increasing liquidity we have seen across our suite of Solana and XRP futures.”

 415.
Notably, CME’s decision builds on months of rising liquidity in its existing Solana and XRP futures.

 416.
Since debuting SOL futures in March, more than 540,000 contracts have changed hands, representing $22.3 billion in notional value. Trading momentum peaked in August, when open interest reached 12,500 contracts valued at nearly $900 million.

 417.
On the other hand, XRP futures, which launched in May, have also generated comparable activity.

 418.
The exchange reports more than 370,000 contracts traded to date, worth $16.2 billion in aggregate. Average daily volumes have climbed to 6,600 contracts, with open interest recently touching $942 million.

 419.
Considering this, the exchange argued that this liquidity proves there is sufficient demand to sustain a parallel options market.

 420.
The exchange is coordinating with major liquidity providers, including Cumberland and FalconX, to support the launch.

 421.
Joshua Lim, global co-head of markets at FalconX, said:

 422.

 423.
“The rise of digital asset treasuries and other access vehicles for crypto has only accelerated the need for institutional hedging tools on Solana and XRP.”

 447.
Bitcoin (BTC) whipsawed on Sept. 17 after the Federal Reserve confirmed a 25 basis-point interest rate cut, lowering its target range for the federal funds rate to 4% to 4.25%.

 448.
The decision also reduced the interest rate paid on reserve balances to 4.15% and lowered the primary credit rate to 4.25%, both effective Sept. 18.

 449.
The Fed said the New York Fed’s Open Market Desk will conduct open market operations to maintain the new range, including up to $500 billion in overnight repurchase agreements and a $160 billion per-counterparty daily limit on reverse repos.

 450.
Based on CryptoSlate data, Bitcoin surged to an intraday high of $116,318 ahead of the statement before sharply reversing to $114,820 as traders “sold the news.”

 451.
The decline was violent but short-lived, with Bitcoin recovering to $115,639 as of press time.

 452.
The rapid swings emphasize how digital assets remain highly sensitive to changes in dollar liquidity and Fed policy.

 453.
The rate cut was widely anticipated but marked the Fed’s first policy adjustment in months after keeping borrowing costs elevated. Markets had priced in the decision, though the speed of Bitcoin’s reaction highlighted how traders are positioning around shifts in monetary conditions.

 454.
Investors are now awaiting Chair Jerome Powell’s press conference later for further guidance on whether the central bank could deliver additional cuts before year-end.

 455.
Stocks also saw volatility after the announcement, while Treasury yields edged lower as bond markets priced in looser financial conditions. Bitcoin’s exaggerated moves mirrored broader risk sentiment but with sharper intraday swings.

 487.
Metaplanet, the Tokyo-listed corporate Bitcoin treasury firm, is accelerating its expansion strategy after completing a $1.4 billion international capital raise.

 488.
The company announced on Sept. 17 that it had established a US subsidiary, Metaplanet Income Corp., to build new revenue streams beyond its core treasury holdings.

 489.
According to the firm, the new unit will provide a platform for derivatives and related income-generating activities, with proceeds directed toward supporting upcoming initiatives. It also emphasized that the move is designed to improve governance and risk oversight while ensuring that Bitcoin operations deliver consistent cash flow.

 490.
Metaplanet’s chief executive, Simon Gerovich, highlighted the importance of this pivot, noting that the income unit has become a key driver of financial stability.

 491.
He said:

 492.

 493.
“This business has become our engine of growth, generating consistent revenue and net income. We are cash flow positive, producing significant internal cash flow to support future initiatives.”

 494.

 495.
Bitcoin Japan

 496.
Alongside its US expansion, Metaplanet has launched a new subsidiary in Tokyo under the name Bitcoin Japan Inc. and secured the domain Bitcoin.jp.

 497.
The domain, acquired from a private investor who held it for over a decade, will be the foundation for multiple initiatives, including Bitcoin Magazine Japan, the Bitcoin Japan Conference, and future product launches.

 498.
The company said income streams from Bitcoin.jp will provide stable revenue to reinforce its treasury operations and fund new ventures. Although the domain will be booked as an intangible fixed asset, it will be amortized in line with accounting standards.

 499.
Gerovich described the acquisition as a milestone for the company’s positioning within Japan’s crypto landscape. He noted:

 500.

 501.
“As Japan’s leading Bitcoin Treasury Company, we’re proud to be only the second owner of this iconic domain, unifying media, events, and services under one platform as we work with partners to accelerate Bitcoin adoption nationwide.”

 502.

 503.
Bitcoin acquisition dreams

 504.
The establishment of these new subsidiaries follows the completion of the firm’s record-breaking $1.4 billion capital raise from foreign investors.

 505.
Gerovich said the firm’s fundraising attracted interest from “a world-class base of leading global institutional investors, including some of the largest mutual fund complexes, sovereign wealth funds, and hedge funds.”

 506.
According to him:

 507.

 508.
“Nearly 100 investors joined our roadshow, many hearing the Metaplanet story for the first time. More than 70 ultimately invested, creating a truly global and long-term oriented shareholder base. This positions us to deepen relationships with leading institutions worldwide and build lasting support for our growth.”

 509.

 510.
Metaplanet plans to direct a portion of the funds toward additional Bitcoin purchases. With 20,136 BTC already on its balance sheet, the company is the sixth-largest corporate holder of the asset.

 511.
However, its long-term ambition is to become the second-largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, behind Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy). To achieve this aim, the Japan-based company must acquire at least 33,000 more BTC, enough to surpass Bitcoin miner Marathon Digital, which currently holds 52,477 BTC.

 534.
Bitcoin climbed above $117,000 during the early trading hours today, its strongest level since early August, as traders positioned around the Federal Reserve’s interest rate decision.

 535.
The outcome of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting, due later today, will define the risk landscape for the rest of the year.

 536.
Market expectations of an easier monetary policy have fueled the latest momentum.

 537.
According to a Bitwise report, softer US inflation readings have pushed futures markets to fully price in a quarter-point rate cut, with odds near 93% that cumulative cuts will reach 75 basis points before year-end.

 538.
As a result, the prospect of looser conditions has energized crypto markets, with Bitwise highlighting “a return to slightly bullish sentiment” as risk appetite in the market becomes more evident.

 539.
This position corroborates that of blockchain analysis platform Santiment, which noted that bullish optimism has surged on social channels like X.

 540.
Santiment noted that bullish commentary now makes up 64% of all crypto discussions, its highest “crowd greed” reading since July.

 542.
Moreover, stablecoin flows into exchanges also signal that real capital is on standby to capitalize on the market move.

 543.
CryptoQuant analyst Axel Adler reported that about $9 billion worth of stablecoins have entered exchanges within the last 36 hours ahead of the impending Fed meeting. This suggests that traders are prepared to act quickly on the announcement.

 545.
Caution ahead

 546.
However, despite the current bullish positions, Santiment warned that the markets often move against retail consensus, meaning that excessive confidence could expose traders if the Fed makes a surprising decision.

 547.
Blockchain analysis firm Glassnode also pointed out that the derivatives markets reflect the same tension as options traders are actively bracing for price swings.

 548.
According to the firm:

 549.

 553.
Considering this, Timothy Misir, head of research at BRN, told CryptoSlate that “Bitcoin stands at a hinge point.”

 554.
According to him:

 555.

 556.
“A sustained push through $116,300 and $117,000 on Fed-driven liquidity could unlock higher bands toward $120,000. But the setup is delicate. Weak spot conviction, concentrated liquidation clusters, and heightened geopolitical risk mean the market remains one headline or one Powell remark away from snapping lower.”

 580.
US-listed spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have registered a seven-day streak of inflows totaling nearly $2.9 billion, signaling a decisive return of investor confidence after August’s selloff.

 581.
Data from Coinperps shows that on Sept. 16 alone, Bitcoin ETFs pulled in $292.27 million. That daily gain capped a weeklong surge in activity, with inflows reaching $2.87 billion over the period.

 582.
The reversal starkly contrasts the prior month, when the products shed more than $750 million amid a rotation into Ethereum-based ETFs.

 583.
Bitcoin ETFs momentum

 584.
The shift reflects more than just short-term flows. Bitwise highlighted that US-traded Bitcoin ETFs are once again absorbing more capital than new Bitcoin supply entering the market, reinforcing the latest recovery.

 585.

Bitcoin ETF Net Flows vs BTC Supply (Source: Bitwise)

 586.
NovaDius Wealth Management President Nate Geraci highlighted the scale of the trend, noting that these funds have now secured over $22 billion in inflows since January.

 587.
The rebound comes as Ethereum-focused products lose momentum in the market.

 588.
In August, investors allocated roughly $3.87 billion into Ethereum ETFs, while Bitcoin products struggled.

 589.
This month, however, Bitcoin ETFs have already attracted $3.14 billion compared to just $148 million for Ethereum. Last week alone, BTC ETFs brought in $2.4 billion globally, far surpassing Ethereum’s $646 million.

 590.
The turnaround appears to be fueled by growing institutional conviction. Market participants point to regulatory clarity efforts and an expanded lineup of large financial institutions offering Bitcoin access as catalysts.

 591.
For context, Bitwise CEO Hunter Horsley recently revealed that one of the country’s largest banks, with more than $1 trillion in assets, has onboarded Bitwise as an asset manager.

 592.
At the same time, its flagship product, the Bitwise Bitcoin ETF (BITB), has also gained approval for use in managed accounts and brokerage platforms serving more than 10,000 wealth managers.

 593.
As a result, this scale of adoption has boosted BTC ETFs’ overall market performance.

 594.
Data from Ecoinometrics shows that two BTC ETFs now rank among the top 100 by assets under management, collectively holding $110 billion.
