  43. <h3><b>Introduction</b></h3>
  44. <p>This essay seeks to critically examine some of the strategies (critical, political, and aesthetic) implemented by a previous generation of feminist thinkers, and to understand which elements of this activism might be effectively repurposed for today. More specifically, it speculates upon what the cyberfeminism of the 1990s – a diverse ‘range of theories, debates, and practices about the relationship between gender and digital culture’ (Daniels, 2009: 102) – might have to offer emancipatory political projects in the twenty-first century. Given that there are a range of gendered challenges specifically relating to ‘living in the condition of virtuality’ (Hayles, 1999: 18) – from sexual harassment via social media to privacy and the protection of online images – there is still much to gain from engaging with pre-millennial cyberfeminist thought. However, not only have technomaterial conditions changed considerably over the past twenty years or so, but the theoretical underpinnings of some cyberfeminist endeavours appear in critical need of an update. In what follows, I will seek to acknowledge and build upon important activist genealogies, whilst gesturing toward some possible avenues for expanding upon and revising this element of our feminist history.</p>
  45. <p>In her 2011 article “Revisiting Cyberfeminism,” the critic Susanna Paasonen points to a waning interest in cyberfeminist initiatives within contemporary media arts practice. Attributing the ‘fading attraction of cyberfeminism’ to shifts in the discursive environment (2011: 346), she notes that the term “cyber” has come to connote a kind of technoutopianism that does not sit well with the perceived mundanity and increasing domestication of much of the digital sphere. As a prefix, she contends, “cyber” no longer feels sufficiently current, and is thus unlikely to do much to capture and mobilize the political imagination. However, there is no denying the transformational impact of digital technologies upon contemporary cultures, societies, and lived experiences, and as such, it is crucial that today’s feminists find new ways of interrogating digitality alongside gender and sexuality. We need to articulate a feminism fit for a world ‘that swarms with technological mediation, […] abstraction, virtuality, and complexity’ (Laboria Cuboniks, 2015: n.p.). Re-entering the debates around cyberfeminism and exploring new directions for its creative and critical insights – a process already increasingly apparent within artistic, theoretical, and activist circles alike – may be one way of achieving this.</p>
  46. <p>Our discussion starts with the work of the philosopher Sadie Plant, whose writings are taken to be illustrative of a number of aesthetic and political tendencies within cyberfeminism. However, the latter part of this essay is primarily concerned with one of the key texts included within the Kathy Rae Huffman archive – the collected proceedings of the First Cyberfeminist International, and the “100 anti-theses of cyberfeminism” contained therein. The questions animating me here are as follows: What does it mean to be a cyberfeminist today? How can we articulate a rigorous, substantive, and purposeful vision of cyberfeminism without being exclusionary or restricting possible incidences of difference and contestation? In short, <i>what is Cyberfeminism 2.0, and how can we build it</i>? If I cannot hope to answer such substantial questions within the limited space available to me here, I at least hope that what follows will indicate both my personal indebtedness to cyberfeminist practice, and my hopes that – in interrogating the limits of its twentieth century incarnation – we might be able to enter into a collective process of revising its commitments.</p>

Weshalb ändert sich trotzdem nicht viel?</strong></h5>
  74. <p>«Sie könnten ein Dirndl auch ausfüllen», meinte der deutsche FDP-Spitzenkandidat Rainer Brüderle 2013 zur Stern-Journalistin Laura Himmelreich. Himmelreich wollte ihn zu seiner bevorstehenden Kandidatur interviewen, Brüderle wollte ihr Alter und ihre Herkunft wissen. Himmelreich wollte über Politik reden, Brüderle machte Kommentare über ihre Brüste. Dass sein harmloser «Herrenwitz» eine solche Welle an (negativen wie auch positiven) Reaktionen auslösen konnte, kam für ihn natürlich völlig überraschend. Der Hashtag #Aufschrei 2013 von Anne Wizorek, einer feministischen Bloggerin und Aktivistin, sollte ein wenig Licht ins Dunkel bringen.</p>

Nach einer kurzen Einführung ins Thema formen wir aus Lehm eine eigene Vorlage eines lustvollen Spielzeugs. In einer zweiten Phase werden diese in Silikon gegossen.   189. <div>Der Titel dieses Textes ist sogleich der Titel meiner Bachelor-Arbeit (Bachelor Kunst und Medien &#8211; Bildende Kunst) wobei es wichtig ist, dass „I’m a shapeshifting bitch“ als Zitat aufgeführt ist. Dies verweist damit bereits auf einen von zwei Schwerpunkten meiner Arbeit, welche ich betonen möchte.</div>

  191. <div>Die Schwerpunkte behandeln zum einen die Aspekte von einem (Teufels-)Kreis, bestehend aus sexistischen Zuschreibungen, die Repetition dieser Zuschreibungen und/oder die Aneignung von eben diesen. Zum andern thematisieren sie mögliche Zukünfte, Ideen oder Utopien.</div>

  193. <div>Wenn ich nun also von sexistischen Zuschreibungen rede, beziehe ich mich auf <em>Material</em> und <em>Form</em> in der westlichen Kunst.</div>
  194. <div>Spätestens seit dem Aufkommen der Minimal-Art, in welcher männliche* Positionen dominierten, und der ihr gegenüberstehenden performativen und auf den Körper bezogenen Kunst, in welcher weibliche* Positionen das Feld beherrschten, wird es offensichtlich, wer mit Latex und wer mit Neon arbeitet.</div>
  195. <div>Damit nehme ich Bezug auf eine Reihe von geschichtsträchtigen, auf Naturkautschuk basierenden Werken von Künstlerinnen* seit den frühen 1970er-Jahren. Jede dieser Künstlerinnen* setzte in eigenständiger Art mit weichen, horizontalen, haptischen, organischen, dynamischen und vergänglichen Stoffen und/oder Methoden ein Gegengewicht zur minimalistischen, linearen, vertikalen, starren und geometrischen Objekt-Kunst der damals meist männlichen* Berufskollegen.</div>

  203. <div>Lassen sich Fragmente neu zusammenführen, vielschichtig intertextu(r)ell kombinieren um mit den Mitteln der Kunst alternative Lebensformen jenseits gesellschaftlicher Rollenzuweisung anzurufen? Können wir durch Aneignungen, Thematisierungen und Weiterarbeiten auf einen queeren Weg gelangen?</div>
  204. <div>Stellt dafür gar die Aufhebung von (Haut-)Grenzen zwischen Mensch, Tier und Maschine ein ebenso monströses wie positives Versprechen dar?</div>
  205. <div>Was sind die beständigen Utopien (und ich sage bewusst Utopie, weil wer weiss schon wie oft wir uns noch wiederholen müssen)? Wenn ich mir eine Deutung aus Haraway, Butler, Barad, Engel, Federici und so weiter zusammen sample (sieheStand Der Dinge), kann aus der imaginierten Utopie vielleicht auch eine Zukunft werden… Eine Zukunft in der wir unserer Rollen entschlüpfen können uns frei bewegen können. Wo wir alle Grenzen verwischen und eingefahrene Verständnisse umarbeiten. Weder er noch sie noch es.</div>

The vac- uum is flush with yearning, bursting with in- numerable imaginings of what could be. The quiet cacophony of different frequencies, pitches, tempos, melodies, noises, pentatonic scales, cries, blasts, sirens, sighs, syncopations, quarter tones, allegros, ragas, bebops, hip- hops, whimpers, whines, screams, are threaded through the silence, ready to erupt, but simul- taneously crosscut by a disruption, dissipating, dispersing the would-be sound into non/being, an indeterminate symphony of voices. The blank page teeming with the desires of would-be traces of every symbol, equation, word, book, library, punctuation mark, vowel, diagram, scribble, inscription, graphic, letter, inkblot, as they yearn toward expression. A jubilation of emptiness.<br />

  347. <p>Mit Beiträgen von Sophia Compton, Yoel Curiger, Helen Eugster, Gritli Faulhaber, Lucia Graf, Lara Holenweger, Andreas Jäggi, Katja Lell, Tina Reden, Lionne Saluz, Milena Sentobe, Yannik Steiner, Caroline Ann Baur, Helvetia Leal, Alper Yagciouglu, Riikka Tauriainen, Studierende und Alumni Departement Medien &amp; Kunst</p>
  348. <p>Durch die Auseinandersetzung mit der historisch wenig aufgearbeiteten Verfolgung von sogenannten Hexen in verschiedenen europäischen Ländern, sowie einer kapitalismuskritischen, queer-feministischen Perspektive auf die gegenwärtige Aktualisierung magischer Praxen, haben wir die Ausstellung „Subnatural Voices“ entwickelt. Die Ausstellung bestand neben den Einzelwerken der Beteiligten aus diskursiven Formaten wie einer multimedialen mehrstündigen Performance, einem festlichen „Witchesdinner“, einem interaktiven Spaziergang in die Allmend zur Walpurgisnacht, einer Lesung zur Release der Publikation, drei Filmscreenings und einem Hochzeitsfest für Lionne, die sich selbst geheiratet hat.<br />

Silvia Federici folgend, waren die Hexenprozesse wichtiger Bestandteil der von Marx bezeichneten „ursprünglichen Akkumulation“. Die gewaltvolle Kontrolle über vorwiegend weibliche Körper unterer Schichten war im Übergang vom Feudalismus zum Kapitalismus ein Mittel, um die Rationalisierung von Arbeitsprozessen voranzutreiben.<br />
  350. Federici geht der Frage nach, was diese Frauen so gefährlich machen konnte, dass sie derart brutal gefoltert und genozidartig ermordet werden mussten. Sie nimmt an, dass es weniger die Furcht vor den magischen Praxen war, für die sie angeklagt wurden, sondern die Furcht eher ihren Lebensweisen galt, die von christlich-protestantischen und die damit zusammenhängenden ökonomischen Normierungen abwichen. Deshalb ist Magie &#8211; „nicht im übernatürlichen Sinn, sondern als eine Erfahrungs- und Experimentierkunst“ (Stengers) &#8211; für uns ein interessantes Feld: Wir nehmen sie als Anspielung auf das von der Aufklärung Verdrängte. Gleichzeitig ist nicht zu übersehen, dass Spiritualität, Magie oder alternative Heilkunde<br />
  351. (pop-)kulturelle Phänomene sind, welche ihre eigene Verwertbarkeit mit hervorbringen. In diesem Spannungsfeld bewegen wir uns.</p>
