The Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering (ATMAE) proudly announces that the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) has awarded ATMAE continued recognition for the maximum term of seven years (through December 30, 2030).</span></p><p style="color: #000000; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; line-height: normal;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">&nbsp;</span></p><p style="color: #000000; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; line-height: normal;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">According to CHEA, “recognition affirms that the standards, structures, and practices of accrediting organizations promote ethical practices and integrity in decision-making, academic quality, improvement, accountability, and needed flexibility and innovation in the programs that are accredited.”</span></p><p style="color: #000000; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; line-height: normal;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">&nbsp;</span></p><p style="color: #000000; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; line-height: normal;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">ATMAE’s accreditation, under its former name NAIT, was initially recognized by CHEA in 2002. ATMAE is currently the only CHEA-recognized accreditor of associate, baccalaureate, and master’s degree programs in technology, applied technology, engineering technology, and technology-related disciplines delivered at national or regional accredited institutions in the United States.   230. <description><![CDATA[<p><b>The 2023 Student Division Robotics Competition (SDRC-23) is coming! </b>The Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering (<a href="http://www.atmae.org/">ATMAE</a>) is planning another exciting Open Design Challenge for the 2023 Student Division Robotics Competition. Teams will be challenged <span style="font-family: Arial;">to solve a material handling problem by designing, developing, and demonstrating a semi- or fully-automated robotic system solution. Solution designs should solve a non-destructive material handling application problem common to manufacturing, logistics, transportation, or similar industries. Application problem and design functions are the purview of each team and are expected to be well-defined.</span></p> <p><b><span style="font-family: Arial;">Teams are encouraged to push against the bounds of their abilities</span></b><span style="font-family: Arial;"> to innovate at the edge of the problem space of robotics (e.g., flexible material handling, autonomous self-guided vehicles, swarm systems, machine vision/learning, etc.). Systems that highlight control, manufacturing, communication, and solution design innovation will be highly valued. In late 2021, the ATMAE Board of Directors began their pursuit of becoming an independent self-managed association beginning July 1, 2022. Amy has been helping ATMAE through this process.</span></p><p style="color: #000000; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; line-height: 18.3333px;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px;">The ATMAE Board of Accreditation (BoA) identified a need for hiring a full-time Managing Director of Accreditation years ago to address the BoA’s sustainability commitment required for recognition from the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Teams will be tasked with designing, developing, and demonstrating a semi- or fully-automated robotic system(s) to perform a user-defined function. Start brainstorming, planning, and dreaming! Design functions are the per view of each team’s imagination. ATMAE and the Student Division leadership are hoping to be wowed.</p><p>&nbsp;</p> <p><b>Teams will be required to engineer a robotic system(s) </b>to satisfy a non-destructive, team-defined functional requirement. Teams are encouraged to push against the bounds of their abilities and innovation around the problem space of robotics (e.g., flexible material handling, autonomous guided vehicles, swarm systems, machine vision/learning, etc.). Development in control autonomy and manufacturing are highly valued.   324. <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT OF PENDING RECOGNITION REVIEW AND CALL FOR THIRD-PARTY COMMENT.&nbsp;</strong></p><p>CHEA makes public through its Website that the accrediting organization has undertaken a recognition review. The CHEA public notice also calls for third-party comments and identifies the period during which third-party comment will be received.
