New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks that dared PM Modi to get a CBI or ED probe into whether industrialists Adani and Ambani sent their ‘party money to Tempo’.
Rahul Gandhi hit back at PM Modi when the latter attacked him at an election rally asking why he stopped naming Adani and Ambani in his attacks and whether he received money from them in return.
In a video message, the Gandhi clan took a swipe at the prime minister, questioning whether Modi’s comments stemmed from personal experience of businessmen on remittances.
In a video message, Rahul Gandhi said, “The money that PM Modi has given to two businessmen, the Congress party will give the same amount to the people of India for the various schemes it has promised.”

HOUSTON – Nine of 10 wrongful-death lawsuits filed after a deadly crowd surge at the 2021 Astroworld music festival have been settled, including one set for trial this week, a lawyer said Wednesday.

Jury selection was scheduled to begin Tuesday in a wrongful-death lawsuit filed by the family of 23-year-old Houston resident Madison Dubisky, who was one of 10 people killed during a crowd crush at a Nov. 5, 2021, concert by rap. Superstar Travis Scott.
But Neil Mann, an attorney for Live Nation, the festival’s promoter, and one of the people suing Scott, said during a court hearing Wednesday that only one wrongful-death lawsuit remains and nine others have been settled, including one that was filed. . The Dubisky family.
Noah Wexler, attorney for Dubisci’s family, confirmed during the court hearing that their case has been “completely resolved.”
The terms of the settlement were confidential and attorneys declined to comment after the court hearing because of a gag order in the case.
“Mr. Scott is grateful that a resolution has been reached without the need for a trial,” said Ted Anastasiou, the rapper’s representative. “Confidential agreement will honor Madison Dubiskey’s legacy and promote reforms for concert safety.”
After Dubisky’s death, his family started a foundation called Pink Bows focused on improving safety at outdoor concerts and similar events.
A wrongful death lawsuit is still pending by the family of 9-year-old Ezra Blount, the youngest person killed during the concert. Attorneys for the lawsuit were scheduled to meet next week to discuss when the lawsuit filed by Blount’s family could be scheduled for trial.
“This case is ready for trial,” Scott West, attorney for Blount’s family, said in court.
But Manne said lawyers for suing him and the other defendants aren’t ready.
State District Judge Kristen Hawkins said she plans to discuss the Blount case at a hearing next week, along with possible trials related to injury cases filed after the deadly concert.
Hawkins said that if the Blount family’s lawsuit is not settled, he is inclined to schedule it as the next trial rather than an injury case.
More than 4,000 plaintiffs filed hundreds of lawsuits after the concert. Manne said about 2,400 injury cases are pending.
Last week it was announced that nearly all of the wrongful death claims had been settled after Dubisky’s case was adjourned. Apple Inc., which livestreamed Scott’s concerts and is one of more than 20 defendants being sued by Dubisci’s family, appealed a court ruling that denied its request to dismiss the case. An appeals court granted Apple a stay in the case.
In the days following the trial stay, attorneys for Dubisky’s family settled their lawsuit with all the defendants in the case, including Apple, Scott and Live Nation, the world’s largest live entertainment company.
At least four wrongful death lawsuits were previously settled and disclosed in court records. But Wednesday was the first time lawyers in the lawsuits gave an update that nine of the 10 wrongful-death lawsuits have been resolved.
Attorneys for Dubisky’s family, as well as attorneys representing various other plaintiffs, have alleged in court filings that the deaths and hundreds of injuries at the concert were caused by negligent planning and a lack of concern for capacity and safety at the event.
The ages of those killed ranged from 9 to 27. He died of compression asphyxia, which one expert compared to being run over by a car.

LONDON — Thousands of Taylor Swift fans who missed her US concert tour last year or didn’t want to buy overpriced tickets to see her again found an out-of-the-way solution: fly to Europe.

Nightclubs, restaurants and bars are seizing the opportunity to cater to fans with Taylor Swift-themed events, such as karaoke, quizzes and post-concert dance parties.
Houston resident Carolyn Matlock, 29, saw Swift more than a year ago when the Eras tour came to the Texas city. Now she’s making more friendship bracelets and trying to learn a few words of Swedish as she prepares for a 3 1/2-hour show in Stockholm. It was his friend’s idea to see Swift in Europe, and Matlock needed some convincing at first.
“I was like, ‘I only want to go if it’s a country I haven’t been to. I’ve seen Taylor Swift,” she said.

The concert is the last night of the trip, and Matlock is eager to interact with Swifties from other countries: “Americans have a very obsessive culture, especially Taylor Swift-related, so I’m curious if the crowd will be more toned-down.” Will the tour survive the ages?
It remains to be seen whether the music tourism trend will have legs as long and strong as Swift and Beyonce, and whether it will carry Billie Eilish, Usher and other artists with world tours scheduled next year. Expedia Fish believes that other big-name acts in Europe this summer will prove that foreign travel bookings continue to be made around concerts.
Nashville-based travel consultant Kate Morga isn’t so sure. Morga saw Swift perform in Nashville last year and helped two clients with school children book a European family vacation this summer that included seeing Swift in concert. But she believes the difficulty of navigating ticket purchases through language barriers, currency conversions, international banking regulations and cancellation risks will limit the appeal of regular gig gateways.
“I think this is an anomaly,” Morga said. “People don’t normally go to make their $20,000 huge family vacation because Taylor Swift is there. She’s one-off. She’s special.”
Glenn Fogel, CEO of Booking Holdings, whose company operates Booking.com, priceline.com, agoda.com, Kayak and OpenTable, is even less enthusiastic about concert tours as a tourism motivator. The Swift effect causes “a bit of a blip” when superstars go to smaller places, but for the global travel industry, “one star moving around doesn’t matter,” he said.
“It might change it a little bit. One guy was going to go to the Caribbean for a week’s vacation. Instead the guy’s like, ‘Let’s travel to the Taylor Swift thing,'” Fogel said. “It doesn’t increase. It just moves it from here to there.”

Amid the political chatter, one name has consistently come up in controversy: Sam Pitroda. After sparking outrage over his “racially” insensitive comments, Pitroda resigned from his post as Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) president on Wednesday. His latest comment sparked a firestorm of criticism. 
In an interview with The Statesman, Pitroda commented, “We can hold together a country as diverse as India, where people from the east look like Chinese, people from the west look like Arabs, people from the north look like whites and people from the south look Like Africa.”

Former President Donald Trump could be sent to New York City’s largest prison, Rikers Island, if he violates another gag order, legal expert Nema Rahmani has said.

Rahmani, a former federal prosecutor, warned that it would likely provoke “mass protests and civil unrest.” Daily Express US.

The Congress on Tuesday filed a complaint with the Election Commission against the Bharatiya Janata Party and demanded action against the ruling party over alleged misinformation.
The Congress alleged that the BJP was “spreading confusion and anger among salaried professionals and the middle class over Rahul Gandhi’s comments about equitable development of the society.”

“This message has been deliberately distorted. I bring one such incident to your attention as proof,” PTI quoted Chakraborty as saying.
Terming it as “fake news”, the Congress leader demanded action against the BJP, saying the ruling party was spreading misinformation about the Congress manifesto and its leaders alleged that if the party came to power, “money Will “redistribute”.
