  45. <p>In a press release from Camp Lejeune authorities, it was said that on April 18, Sgt. Colin Arslanbas, 23, passed away in a training mishap.</p>
  46. <p>The deadly collision occurred in Carteret County, close to the Marine Corps installation Camp Lejeune, just after 11 p.m.</p>
  47. <p>&#8220;Words cannot convey our sorrow for the tragic loss of one of our MEU family members,&#8221; said Col. Todd Mahar, a 24th MEU commanding officer.</p>
  48. <p>On March 26, 2020, Arslanbas, who was born in O&#8217;Fallon, Missouri, 36 miles northwest of St. Louis, enrolled in the Marine Corps. Only a few days prior to the tragic disaster, on April 1, he received a promotion to sergeant.</p>
  49. <p>According to officials, Arslanbas was a Reconnaissance Marine with the MSPF and was attached to the Maritime Special Purpose Forces with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit.</p>
  50. <p>His honors, according to officials, include the National Defense Service Medal, the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.</p>
  51. <p>There are no other accident-related details at this time.</p>
  52. <p>Officials say that an inquiry is underway into the fatal training accident.</p>
  53. <p>&#8220;The 24th MEU family mourns the loss of an outstanding Marine and leader. We offer our deepest condolences and unwavering support to his family during this most difficult time,&#8221; Col. Mahar said.</p>

  80. <p>After hitting Heibati several times on the ground, the Russian managed to knock him out of the first round with barely over 30 seconds remaining.</p>
  81. <p>After his victory, Osipyan turned to face his team, but before he could get away, Heibati attacked him, hitting a few ill-advised shots from behind.</p>
  82. <p>It is puzzling that Heibati was let to remain in the cage after the outcome was properly declared.</p>
  83. <p>The defeated fighter, obviously still enraged, took to the microphone after donning his glasses.</p>
  84. <p>Then, letting his blind wrath get the better of him once more, he gave a pundit a high kick out.</p>
  85. <p>After the bout, Heibati took to social media to apologise to the ring girl.</p>
  86. <p>He wrote: &#8220;Hello everyone. This is for Maria. I didn&#8217;t act right with her.</p>
  87. <p>&#8220;The reason was that before the MMA fight there were a lot of fistfights. I stayed there in the cage and I just wanted to go out and fight.</p>
  88. <p>&#8220;I was tense and, as most understand, emotions flourish in the fight, so before the fight I acted badly towards Maria.</p>
  89. <p>&#8220;I want to publicly apologise to her. I am a married man, so I respect the female gender.</p>
  90. <p>&#8220;She was doing her job and I, after the fight, didn&#8217;t admit my guilt either, because they also hit me on the head. Tell Maria that I am sorry.&#8221;</p>
  91. <p>His apology was not enough to keep his job, however, with the Hard Fighting Championship slapping him with a lifetime ban.</p>
  92. <p>Heibati has experience fighting in kickboxing and boxing.</p>

  126. <p>&#8220;Courtney was always prepared for any and all possibilities, and just when you had something you never thought would happen occurred, she was there with all the things you could imagine to fix the problem.&#8221;</p>

  128. <h2 class="wp-block-heading">What happened to Courtney Fannon?</h2>
  129. <p>Courtney tragically and suddenly died at the age of 29 on Friday, March 8, 2024.</p>
  130. <p>Her unborn daughter, Hadley Jaye, also passed away.</p>
  131. <p>&#8220;Courtney was a special education teacher who served her students with passion and joy each day,&#8221; District Superintendent Nick Picardo said in a message to the community, per Orleans Hub.</p>
  132. <p>&#8220;When she wasn’t in her classroom sharing her love and gift for teaching with her students, she could be found walking our halls with a smile and a friendly hello,&#8221; he continued.</p>
  133. <p>Matt Smith, a close friend of Courtney&#8217;s husband, Kurtis, started a GoFundMe page to help Kurtis as he grieves the loss of his wife and unborn child.</p>
  134. <p>&#8220;They were called to eternal rest the night of March 8th, after a very tragic and unexpected turn of events. On the afternoon of that day, Courtney was spending it just as she typically would, finishing up her day as a special education teacher in Kendall,&#8221; it continues.</p>
  135. <p>&#8220;Unfortunately, mere moments after sending a message to her husband she was found unresponsive. Upon transporting her to the hospital, life saving measures began for both her and Hadley Jaye, however by 6:30pm that night, they were both declared dead.</p>
  136. <p>&#8220;As the news spread, our small, tight-knit community was once again called upon to come together and help in all ways possible, however this one felt different.</p>
  137. <p>&#8220;As we all gathered, to pay respects and to provide support, there was an eerie silence that was constant throughout the room, which rarely, if ever, occurs within our group.&#8221;</p>

  165. <p>On February 11 in Dallas, while waiting at a signal, Camryn Herriage, 23, and her roommate, along with a few other companions, were struck by a car, according to Fox 4 Dallas.</p>
  166. <p>Herrage&#8217;s apartment is only two blocks away from the scene of a pile-up crash that occurred after a Ford pickup truck struck the back of their car, according to Dallas Police.</p>

  169. <p>The hit-and-run motorist was criticized by her older sister Casie Campanello for her &#8220;careless act.&#8221;</p>
  170. <p>“Literally, a careless act put us in a situation that changed all of our lives,” Campanello told the outlet. “We are very helpless and just have to stay strong for her, but it’s very difficult to see.”</p>
  171. <p>Her sister has waited by her bedside now for weeks waiting for her to wake up.</p>
  172. <p>“I know everybody, we all cry every day over it but try not to do it in the room with her,” Campanello said.It is said that the woman fled the site of the incident and was detained by police. According to reports, the driver—27-year-old Carmen Guerrero—was traveling at 70 mph in a 35 mph zone.</p>
  173. <p>A woman who seemed to be &#8220;extremely intoxicated&#8221; emerged from the driver&#8217;s side of the truck &#8220;wearing a small black dress and white clubbing shoes,&#8221; according to an arrest warrant document, and bystanders who saw the crash reported it to 911.</p>
  174. <p>Guerrero was reportedly taken into custody last week after detectives found her wallet in the abandoned truck.</p>

  578. <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A MUM was found stabbed to death in a car before an adolescent believed to be her son was killed by a nearby train, according to an inquest.</p>
  579. <p>Mayawati Bracken, 56, was found in a Lexus with a deadly knife wound in Pangbourne, Berkshire.</p>

  581. <p>Around 30 minutes later, Julian Bracken, 18, was discovered dead on a railway track.</p>
  582. <p>An inquest heard how Mayawati, also known as Maya, and Julian resided in the same house and were assumed to be mother and son.</p>
  583. <p>Following the incident, Thames Valley Police opened a murder investigation and stated that they suspected the murders were linked.</p>
  584. <p>Officers were called to the A340 around 5.45 p.m., according to the Berkshire Coroner’s Court.</p>
  585. <p>Mum-of-three Maya received medical assistance but was unable to be saved and was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.</p>
  586. <p>Assistant coroner Alison McCormick stated that the presumptive cause of death was &#8220;shock and haemorrhage&#8221; as a result of a stab wound in the chest.</p>
  587. <p>At 6.15 p.m., officers located Julian on the track near Pangbourne station.</p>
  588. <p>The student was pronounced dead at the scene on January 4 of this year.</p>
  589. <p>According to the hearing, his cause of death was &#8220;multiple injuries&#8221; as determined by a post mortem.</p>
  590. <p>Maya resided in a seven-bedroom £2.5 million property in Pangbourne with her three children, a twin boy and girl and a second son.</p>
  591. <p>Friends earlier stated that she would &#8220;do anything&#8221; for her children.</p>
  592. <p>One said: &#8220;She was a very <span id="e0adcdf5-0e3a-42d2-a58e-46324571a08b" class="suggested-link">nice</span> and kind woman who absolutely loved her children.</p>

  940. <p>The couple, both in their sixties, were floating in the ocean on the Barbados beach when they were caught in a violent riptide.</p>
  941. <p>&#8220;We swam out, not that far, but far enough to be out of our depth,&#8221; Belinda told the Washington Post on Wednesday.</p>
  942. <p>The Londoners, who both consider themselves to be strong swimmers, were vacationing in the area and didn’t realize that area of the beach was known for its riptides.</p>

  945. <p>The 64-year-old kept swimming toward the beach, screaming for help.</p>
  946. <p>After a few minutes of ranting, she began to fear the worst and told the Washington Post she was relieved she had &#8220;left our wills on the dining room table.&#8221;</p>
  947. <p>However, their holiday wouldn’t end in tragedy as Bassermann and Ireland-Meklensek spotted her from 85 feet away and swam over to the Brit.</p>
  948. <p>“I heard their cries in the water,” Ireland-Meklensek told City News.</p>
  949. <p>“Our adrenaline kicked in and everything that we learned came back to us in that moment,” Bassermann, who is training for the Olympics, told the Canadian outlet.</p>
  950. <p>The two Montreal teenagers assisted Belinda onto their boogie board and began swimming parallel to shore to bring her to safety, all while she told them her husband was still out in the sea.</p>
  951. <p>&#8220;She said her husband was further out, and he was struggling to swim,&#8221; Ireland-Meklensek told the Washington Post. &#8220;I instructed her to grab on tight and secured the boogie board tether to my wrist. Emma was by my side, providing comfort.&#8221;</p>
  952. <p>After pulling her to land, the two dove back into the ocean, despite Belinda&#8217;s warnings that they were too young. The girls brushed it off, explaining that they were in town for a swimming camp and were comfortable in the water.</p>

  954. <p>The ladies swam 165 feet to catch 68-year-old Robert and used their board to bring him to safety, reassuring him that &#8220;his wife was okay and he was going to be okay,&#8221; Ireland-Meklensek explained.</p>
  955. <p>Despite their experience, the youngsters stated that the second voyage was exhausting since the &#8220;current kept pulling me back,&#8221; Ireland-Meklensek added, but they were able to escape the dangerous conditions.</p>
  956. <p>The girls claimed they created a &#8220;really good team&#8221; afterward, and Belinda was impressed by their &#8220;calmness.&#8221;</p>
  957. <p>“I do not think that there are many girls like Zoe and Emma. I just cannot get over how serene and poised they both were,” she told the Washington Post. “What an example for other people. These girls were tremendous and so self-effacing.</p>
  958. <p>“They really were like a couple of angels on that beach.”</p>
  959. <p>Both girls have been competitive swimmers for years, with Bassermann now training for the Canadian Summer Olympic swimming trials with her coach, Chuck Meklensek — the father of Ireland-Meklensek.</p>
  960. <p>Ireland-Meklensek stopped competing last year to focus on basketball.</p>
  961. <p>Meklensek said he was &#8220;really proud&#8221; and &#8220;impressed&#8221; by the girls&#8217; courage. He also told the Washington Post that he was surprised they could bring a man his size into shore by themselves.</p>
