Well-equipped classrooms are crucial to the development of young children. This is more than a place to play. It’s a place that promotes creativity, social interactions, cognitive development, and emotional wellbeing. To create a learning environment that is effective, educators must ensure that the classroom is organized, safe, and stimulating. This is a complete list of what should be in every preschool classroom.

1. Comfortable and safe environment

In any preschool class, safety and comfort should be the top priority. Children need to be able to explore in a safe environment.

Soft flooring: Rubber, foam mats or carpets provide a cushioned floor for children to play on and reduce the chance of slipping and falling.

Child-Sized furniture: Tables and chairs at child’s height encourage independence and easy access.

Clear Pathways: Allowing for free movement, open areas are less likely to cause tripping hazards.

Emergency Supplies: Fire extinguishers and first aid kits should be available. Also, emergency contact numbers should also be easily accessible.

2. Learning Centers

Using organized learning centers, children can explore a variety of subjects by engaging in hands-on activities. Here are some essential learning centers that every preschool classroom must include:

Reading Corner: Encourage literacy by creating a cozy corner with pillows and cushions, as well as books that are suitable for children.

Art Station: This area is stocked with crayons and markers, paper, glues, scissors, and paints to encourage creativity.

Science and Nature Center – Magnifying glasses and shells, as well as simple experiments, will spark your curiosity.

Block Area: Building blocks of different sizes are used to promote problem-solving skills and fine motor abilities.

Dramatic Play Corner: costumes, dolls, and play kitchens encourage imaginative play.

3. Materials and Supplies for Education

Preschool classrooms should have educational materials that are age-appropriate and support the development of motor skills and cognitive abilities.

Manipulatives are items like puzzles and beads that help develop fine motor skills. They also improve problem solving and enhance problem solving abilities.

Visual Aids: Posters and charts reinforce lessons, while flashcards and other visual aids provide opportunities for learning.

Writing Tools: Crayons and markers help children to develop early writing skills.

Math Resources: Number charts, counting bears and measuring tools are all great resources to introduce math concepts.

4. Technology and Learning Tools

Technology can be a great support to hands-on education in preschool.

Interactive Whiteboards are great for engaging children in group activities.

Tablets and computers: age-appropriate apps can help reinforce literacy skills.

Children can enjoy audiobooks or music with headphones and audio players.

5. Storage and Organization

A well-organized classroom encourages independence and reduces distractions.

Cubbies and Lockers: Individual storage space for backpacks, coats and other belongings.

Labeled Bins – Clear labels with words and pictures help children to identify the bins that toys and supplies belong in.

Teacher Storage: Drawers and cabinets for organizing art supplies, lesson plans, and teaching materials.

6. Tools for Social and Emotional Learning

The preschool years are a crucial time to develop social and emotional skills. The classroom should have resources to support this growth.

Feelings Chart: This chart helps children to identify and express emotions.

Calm Down Corner – A quiet corner with books, soft pillows and sensory items to help regulate your mood.

Cooperative Games: Boardgames and group activities to encourage teamwork, problem solving and communication.

7. Health and Hygiene Essentials

Preventing the spread of germs in a classroom helps keep children healthy.

Handwashing station: easy-to-reach sinks, with soap and toilet paper.

Sanitizing Supplies – Disinfectant sprays and wipes to clean surfaces.

Bins for Tissues and Garbage: Easily accessible and regularly emptied in order to maintain cleanliness.

8. Outdoor Play Area

The development of young children is dependent on physical activity. A play area outdoors can enhance the classroom experience if space permits.

Playground Equipment: Structures for sliding, climbing and balancing that are age-appropriate.

Ride-on Toys : Tricycles and scooters promote gross motor skills.

Simple planters are a great way to teach children about nature and responsibility.

9. Classroom Decorations and Visual Appeal

Visually appealing classrooms create a welcoming atmosphere for young students.

Bright colors: Colors that are cheerful and non-overwhelming promote a positive attitude.

Children’s Art: displaying student work encourages pride and ownership in the space.

Themed decor: Use seasonal or educational themes to keep your classroom fresh and exciting.

10. Supportive Teaching Materials

Teachers must have the right tools in order to create engaging and successful lessons.

Curriculum Guides: Lesson plans and activities for all ages.

Assessment Tools: Checklists, observation forms and other tools to track developmental milestones.

Professional Development: Workshops and training are available to ensure educators remain current with the best practices.

Each preschool classroom should provide a stimulating, safe and nurturing environment to support all aspects of the child’s growth. Each component, from learning centers and educational material to health essentials and outside play areas, plays a crucial role in shaping an early learning experience. These essentials can help educators create a classroom where children are able to thrive socially, academically and emotionally.

Alright, let’s talk about getting into real estate in Texas with a Texas real estate license. It’s a big step, right? And like any big step, it’s good to know where you’re putting your feet.

So, you’re thinking about real estate. That’s awesome! Texas is a booming market, and there’s a lot of opportunity. But before you dive in, you’ve got to understand the lay of the land, specifically, the licenses. It’s not just a matter of saying, “I sell houses now!”

Think of it like this: becoming a Sales Agent is like getting your learner’s permit for driving. You’re allowed to drive, but you’ve got to have someone experienced sitting next to you, guiding you. That’s your Broker. Becoming a Broker, then, is like getting your full driver’s license. You’re in charge, you can take passengers, and you can even teach others how to drive.

Let’s start with the learner’s permit, the Sales Agent license. This is where most people begin, and honestly, it’s a great place to start. You get to learn the business from the ground up, see how deals are made, and build your network.

To get your Sales Agent license, there are a few things you’ll need. First, you’ve got to be at least 18 years old. Makes sense, right? Then comes the real work: the pre-licensing education. This isn’t just some quick online course. You’re talking 180 hours of classes that cover everything from the basics of real estate to the nitty-gritty of contracts and laws.

And yes, you’ll have to pass an exam. It’s designed to make sure you know your stuff, both on a national level and specifically for Texas. Then there’s the background check. They want to make sure you’re a trustworthy person, which is pretty important when you’re dealing with people’s biggest investments.

But here’s the kicker: you need a Broker to sponsor you. This means you’ll be working under their supervision. They’ll guide you, answer your questions, and help you navigate the often-complex world of real estate. It’s like having a mentor, which is invaluable when you’re just starting out.

As a Sales Agent, you’ll be doing things like showing houses, helping clients negotiate offers, and providing market analysis. You’ll be the one on the front lines, building relationships and closing deals. It’s a rewarding job, and many people build successful careers as Sales Agents.

Now, let’s talk about the full driver’s license, the Broker license. This is for those who have been in the trenches, learned the ropes, and are ready to take on more responsibility.

To become a Broker, you’ll need to have at least four years of experience as a Sales Agent. That’s right, you’ve got to put in the time. You’ll also need to take another 90 hours of advanced education, focusing on things like brokerage management and real estate investment. And of course, there’s another exam, a more challenging one this time.

But what does being a Broker really mean? It means you can operate independently, own your own brokerage, and even supervise other agents. You’re the boss, making the big decisions and setting the direction. You’ll be managing transactions, developing policies, and ensuring everyone is following the rules. It’s a lot of responsibility, but it comes with a lot of freedom and potential.

Think of it like this: as a Sales Agent, you’re part of a team. As a Broker, you’re the team leader. You’re the one who guides and mentors others, helping them build their own careers.

So, which path is right for you? It really depends on your goals. If you’re just starting out, the Sales Agent license is the way to go. It’s a great way to learn the business and build your experience. If you’re looking for more autonomy and leadership opportunities, the Broker license might be your ultimate goal.

And remember, no matter which license you have, Texas real estate license or not, you’ll need to renew it every two years. That means continuing education to stay up-to-date on the latest laws and practices. It’s all part of being a professional.

Ultimately, whether you become a Sales Agent or a Broker, you’re embarking on a rewarding career in a dynamic industry. It’s about helping people find their dream homes, build their investments, and achieve their goals. And in Texas, there’s no shortage of opportunities to do just that.

But here’s the thing: real estate is more than just houses and deals. It’s about people. It’s about building relationships, It’s about being a trusted advisor, a guide, and a resource for your clients.

As a Sales Agent, you’ll be the face of the industry, the one who connects buyers and sellers, landlords and tenants. You’ll be the one who helps families find their first home, investors expand their portfolio, and businesses find the perfect location.

And as a Broker, you’ll be the one who shapes the future of the industry, the one who mentors the next generation of real estate professionals, and the one who sets the standards for ethical and professional conduct.

So, whether you’re just starting out or you’re ready to take the next step, remember that real estate is more than just a job. It’s a career, a calling, and a way to make a real difference in people’s lives. And in Texas, there’s no better place to do it.

The post Real Estate Licenses in Texas: Sales Agent vs. Broker first appeared on https://educationblogonline.com.

If you’re currently working in physical security, take a step toward a more advanced, tech-driven sector and consider transitioning to security surveillance management. With the rise of remote monitoring and cutting-edge surveillance technologies, this field offers excellent career growth opportunities.

In this article, we will explore how to make this transition effectively, the skills and certifications you’ll need, and why this shift could be the key to advancing your career in the security industry.

Why Transition from Physical Security to Security Surveillance Management?

Increased Job Opportunities: With businesses, governments, and public spaces investing more in remote surveillance systems, demand for skilled professionals is growing.

Better Career Prospects: Security surveillance management positions, especially in remote monitoring, offer career growth.

Improved Work Conditions: Transitioning to surveillance management often means a shift from physically demanding roles to more strategic, decision-making tasks, which can be more manageable long-term.

Key Skills You Need for Security Surveillance Management

1. Technical Proficiency in Surveillance Systems

Learning how to use and manage surveillance technology is essential. A security CCTV course or Operate Surveillance Equipment course is highly recommended to get started. You’ll need to become comfortable with:

CCTV systems (types of cameras, their functionalities, and network configurations)

Remote monitoring software (setting up feeds, alert systems, and managing data)

Basic troubleshooting of equipment and software

2. Understanding Augmented Analytics

Modern surveillance systems often come with advanced features like augmented analytics, which help in identifying unusual patterns and behaviours. Gaining knowledge in this area is important for roles that require more than just monitoring. Courses which cover how to Perform Remote Surveillance Functions can provide practical skills in analysing surveillance data.

3. Monitoring and Decision-Making

Unlike physical security, where you are on the ground, surveillance management requires proactive monitoring. You must learn to:

Interpret video feeds

Analyse data in real-time

Make informed decisions based on potential threats or anomalies

Steps to Transition into Security Surveillance Management

Now that you know the skills required, let’s break down the steps to make a successful transition.

Step 1: Enrol in Relevant Training Courses

Upskilling is key when transitioning to any new field. To gain the necessary knowledge and certifications in security surveillance management, you should consider enrolling in specialised courses, such as:

Perform Remote Surveillance Function: This course will equip you with practical skills for managing remote surveillance feeds, understanding surveillance technology, and responding to incidents.

CCTV for Security Guards Training: This course is ideal for learning about surveillance equipment, monitoring practices, and system integration.

Senior Security Officer Course on CCTV: For professionals looking to step into supervisory roles, this course covers advanced CCTV systems, data analysis, and team management.

These certifications will make your resume more competitive and give you a better understanding of the technical aspects of surveillance systems.

Step 2: Gain Hands-On Experience

Once you’ve completed relevant courses, gaining practical experience is crucial. You can:

Volunteer for internal surveillance roles within your current company

Seek internships or part-time opportunities focused on surveillance monitoring

Work with a mentor already in the field who can guide you through system setups and remote monitoring tasks

Hands-on experience with surveillance equipment will allow you to better grasp the day-to-day operations of managing surveillance systems.

Step 4: Keep Up with Technological Advancements

Security surveillance is a tech-driven field, and new advancements in AI, facial recognition, and IoT-based systems are constantly emerging. Make it a point to stay updated by:

Attending industry webinars or conferences

Subscribing to security technology blogs

Taking advanced courses in AI-driven surveillance or analytics

The more knowledgeable you are about the latest tools and trends, the more valuable you become as a surveillance manager.

Career Paths in Security Surveillance Management

After transitioning into this field, there are several exciting career opportunities you can explore, such as:

CCTV Operator: In this role, you will monitor live camera feeds, ensure the functionality of the system, and report any suspicious activities.

Remote Surveillance Manager: This role involves overseeing a team of CCTV operators, analysing surveillance data, and coordinating with law enforcement when necessary.

Security Systems Analyst: Specialising in augmented surveillance systems, you will be responsible for analysing data trends and identifying risks using advanced surveillance software.

Senior Security Officer: As a senior officer, you will not only manage surveillance equipment but also mentor junior security staff and ensure compliance with industry regulations.

Start Your Journey with the Right Training from NTUC LearningHub

In today’s competitive business landscape, customer service is a crucial differentiator between success and mediocrity. An after-hours call answering service is one of the most effective tools for enhancing customer satisfaction and boosting profits. This service not only ensures that your business remains accessible round the clock but also offers several other benefits that directly contribute to your bottom line.

Enhanced Customer Satisfaction

Customers appreciate accessibility. By having an after hours call answering service in place, you demonstrate a commitment to being available whenever your customers need assistance. Whether it’s a late-night query or an urgent issue that arises outside regular business hours, providing a reliable point of contact fosters trust and satisfaction among your clientele. This accessibility can increase loyalty and positive word-of-mouth recommendations, ultimately bolstering your business’s reputation.

Improved Customer Retention

Customers who know they can reach your business anytime are more likely to remain loyal. A proactive approach to customer service through an after-hours call answering service ensures that your support remains open even after your doors close for the day. This continuity reduces the likelihood of customers seeking alternatives when encountering difficulties outside regular business hours. By consistently meeting customer needs, you establish strong relationships that encourage repeat business and long-term loyalty.

Capture Missed Opportunities

Not every customer adheres to standard business hours. Some prefer to contact you after work or during weekends. An after hours call answering service captures these inquiries to ensure that leads are not lost due to timing issues. By promptly responding to after-hours calls, you can convert missed opportunities into actual sales, thereby increasing your revenue stream. This proactive engagement with potential customers expands your market reach and maximizes sales potential.

Cost Efficiency

A dedicated after hours call answering service can be more cost-effective than hiring full-time staff to cover extended hours. It allows you to maintain a high level of customer service without the overhead costs associated with additional employees. Moreover, outsourcing this service to professionals ensures that your customers receive knowledgeable and efficient support without straining your budget. By optimizing resource allocation, you can achieve operational efficiency while enhancing service quality, ultimately improving your bottom line.

Enhanced Business Reputation

A reputation for reliability and accessibility can significantly enhance your brand’s image. Customers are more likely to recommend a responsive and available business whenever needed. An after-hours call answering service contributes to building a positive reputation and positioning your business as customer-centric and dedicated to meeting the needs of its clientele. By consistently delivering exceptional service experiences, you strengthen brand loyalty and attract new customers who value reliable and accessible support.

Operational Efficiency

Beyond customer service benefits, an after hours call answering service can streamline your operations. Offloading after-hours inquiries and support to dedicated professionals, your internal staff can focus on core business activities during regular hours. This division of labor improves overall efficiency and allows your business to function smoothly around the clock. You can optimize workflows and minimize downtime by leveraging specialized expertise for after-hours support, ensuring continuous productivity and service excellence.

In Conclusion…

Implementing an after hours call answering service boosts customer satisfaction and operational effectiveness. Whether you operate a small enterprise or a large corporation, integrating this service into your business strategy can yield significant returns on investment.

The post Boosting Profits with an After Hours Call Answering Service first appeared on https://educationblogonline.com.

One essential quality that enables people to face life’s obstacles with resiliency, assertiveness, and optimism is self-confidence. It is the conviction that one is worthy, capable, and capable of succeeding. But a lot of people lack confidence in themselves, frequently as a result of fears and self-doubt. Thankfully, deliberate practice and mental adjustments can help develop and reinforce self-confidence over time. This post will discuss useful methods and ideas for boosting self-assurance and realizing your potential.

1. Challenge Negative Thoughts

Common obstacles to self-confidence include self-limiting ideas and negative thoughts. These ideas frequently appear as negative self-talk or self-doubt regarding one’s value and skills. It’s critical to confront these self-defeating ideas and swap them out with more powerful and positive ones in order to boost self-confidence. Asking yourself challenging questions about yourself, such as “Is there evidence to support this thought?” or “What would I say to a friend in this situation?” might help you stop thinking poorly about yourself when you catch yourself. It is possible to change your perspective and create a more positive self-image by confronting negative beliefs.

2. Set Realistic Goals

Goal-setting and achievement are effective ways to increase self-confidence. Setting objectives that are in line with your values and skills is crucial, though, and should be reasonable and attainable. Divide more ambitious objectives into more doable, smaller ones, and acknowledge your accomplishments as you go. Every little victory boosts your confidence and gives you more drive to reach your larger objectives. You will develop self-confidence in your capacity to achieve by establishing reasonable objectives and acting consistently.

Would you like to Try some questions about yourself?

3. Practice Self-Compassion

Self-compassion is being kind, understanding, and accepting of yourself, especially when things are hard. Practice self-compassion by treating yourself with the same love and empathy that you would a friend, rather than being unduly judgmental or critical. Recognize that everyone makes errors and experiences setbacks, and treat yourself with kindness and understanding. You can build a more nourishing and positive relationship with yourself—which is the cornerstone of self-confidence—by engaging in self-compassion practices.

4. Step Outside Your Comfort Zone

Expanding your capabilities and gaining self-confidence require stepping outside of your comfort zone. Strive to overcome your worries, attempt new things, and take on new responsibilities. You demonstrate to yourself that you are capable of conquering challenges and succeeding every time you go outside of your comfort zone and face your concerns. Accept the discomfort that comes with pushing yourself to the limit and embrace growth chances because you’ll eventually gain more confidence.

5. Focus on Your Strengths

Focusing on your strengths and talents is a powerful way to boost self-confidence. Take inventory of your skills, abilities, and accomplishments, and remind yourself of your unique strengths and qualities. Instead of dwelling on perceived weaknesses or areas for improvement, celebrate your strengths and acknowledge the value you bring to the table. By focusing on your strengths, you can build self-confidence and develop a more positive self-image.

6. Practice Positive Self-Talk

Using words of affirmation and encouragement to motivate and uplift oneself is known as positive self-talk. Positive affirmations and declarations that reaffirm your value and competence should take the place of negative self-talk. Try saying, “I am capable, and I can handle this challenge,” rather than, “I can’t do this.” You may reprogram your brain to focus on your skills and qualities by engaging in positive self-talk, which will increase your confidence.

7. Seek Feedback and Support

Seeking feedback from others can provide valuable insights and perspectives that contribute to your growth and development. Surround yourself with supportive friends, family members, mentors, or colleagues who believe in you and your abilities. Ask for feedback on your strengths, areas for improvement, and accomplishments, and use this feedback to inform your self-perception and build self-confidence. Having a strong support system can boost your confidence and provide encouragement during challenging times.

8. Celebrate Your Achievements

Finally, celebrate your achievements, no matter how small. Acknowledge your successes and accomplishments, and take pride in your efforts and progress. Celebrating your achievements reinforces a positive self-image and boosts self-confidence, motivating you to continue pursuing your goals with determination and resilience. Whether it’s completing a project, reaching a milestone, or overcoming a challenge, take time to celebrate your accomplishments and recognize your worth.

A crucial quality that enables people to flourish and achieve in a variety of spheres of life is self-confidence. You can increase your self-confidence and realize your full potential by confronting negative ideas, making reasonable goals, exercising self-compassion, stepping outside of your comfort zone, concentrating on your strengths, using positive self-talk, asking for help and support, and acknowledging your accomplishments. Recall that developing self-confidence is a journey that calls for endurance, self-awareness, and patience. You may develop self-confidence and accept your own value and potential if you put in the necessary time and effort.

The post Building Self-Confidence: Embracing Your True Potential first appeared on https://educationblogonline.com.

In the digital age, our written communication essentially passes through the keyboard of our computer, our tablet or our smartphone. Applications and assistance by voice command are multiplying. Google and other search engines increasingly offer images and videos to the detriment of written content. Therefore, is it still useful for our children to learn to write by hand? What reasons should lead adults to use handwriting? Writing-dysgraphia answers you.

Why learn to write by hand?

Since 2016, Finland has abandoned the teaching of cursive writing in favor of script and computer writing. In the United States, the majority of states opted for the keyboard a few years ago. But a reversal was made in 2014 after the first warnings from neuroscientists.

The need to learn handwriting

According to Denis Alamargot, professor of cognitive psychology at the University of Paris-Est Créteil, learning to handwrite leads to better memorization (1). This is facilitated by the graphomotor gesture (gesture associated with the shape and layout of each letter).

Why write by hand?

Among the many benefits, here are 5 good reasons to keep handwriting in our lives:

1. Activation and maintenance of our brain capacities:

As we have seen, writing by hand solicits different areas of the brain. Regularly calling on our brain capacities contributes to our mental health. Like crosswords or reading, handwriting ensures the proper functioning and durability of our intellectual abilities.

2. Well-being:

When we write by hand, our gaze follows the letters and the words that follow one another. Our hand holds the pencil or pen and moves over the paper, the texture of which we feel. This process provides a feeling of well-being.

Our text takes shape before our eyes and brings us the satisfaction of creating something personal and unique like a painter or a sculptor. It increases our self-confidence and makes us happier.

3. The relaxing effect:

Like meditation, breathing techniques or yoga, handwriting promotes relaxation. Paying attention to his thoughts and concerns does us good. Listening to your inner self and being able to express yourself without the judgment of others is beneficial to us.

4. Liberation of the mind:

To put a problem on paper is to begin to solve it. Putting words on our difficulties is a way to empty your bag, to free yourself from a weight. This allows us to free ourselves from certain difficulties and toxic thoughts.

5. Goal setting:

Our goals become more concrete if they are written down on paper. They become clearer and we more easily find the way to reach them. Moreover, having written them commits us more than if they are typed on the computer keyboard.

What can you write by hand?

It doesn’t matter what we write as long as we devote a few minutes to it every day. This can be for example:

How to write well by hand?

Good motor skills are necessary to improve the gesture and to be able to write by hand in a fluid way. Many exercises exist to maintain and develop it. Whether pencil, fountain or ballpoint pen. Its apprehension must be perfect and you must enjoy using it. Writing too quickly affects the quality of the writing. Taking notes quickly during studies often has a detrimental effect. Take the time to properly form the letters.

While you can type on a keyboard in almost any position, handwriting requires being comfortable. To this end, a preliminary relaxation session can be beneficial.

The position of your fingers on the pencil or pen is important. You must hold it between your thumb and the first joint of your index finger, neither too high nor too low. To ensure fluidity and avoid a cramp, be careful not to put too much pressure on the paper.

– Write on a support you like:

A paper that we find pleasant to the touch, on which the pen glides, makes you want to write. Do not hesitate, to help you form and calibrate each letter, to use lined or squared paper. Also think about the learning notebook that you can find in stationery..

– Write often:

This is for sure the most important tip. As with any other activity, it is regular practice that will allow you to improve the quality of your writing.

The re-education of writing

It happens that the pupil or the adult do not manage, in spite of their application, to have a satisfactory writing. Dysgraphia affects about 10% of children, mostly boys , and encompasses various handwriting disorders. This can be too slow, illegible, or even painful following poor maintenance of the utensil, too much pressure exerted or too intense a cognitive effort.

A re-education of the writing is then necessary to remedy these problems. Exercises aimed at improving writing are available on the Web. However, in some cases, the use of graphotherapy – writing therapy – is required. To establish his diagnosis and determine the appropriate solution, the graphotherapist draws up a handwriting assessment. The online assessment offered by Script-dysgraphia makes it possible to take stock of the difficulties encountered in order to design the tailor-made program to remedy them effectively.

The benefits of handwriting are felt at every stage of our lives. Learning to write in cursive letters contributes to the good brain development of the child. Taking handwritten notes guarantees better results for students. Handwriting soothes us, helps us in our personal development and prevents the premature aging of our intellectual abilities.

The post The importance of hand writing throughout our lives first appeared on https://educationblogonline.com.

For some adults, handwriting is a pensum. This was the case of Nolwenn, 25, who found his handwriting childish and difficult to read. As far back as she can remember, writing has never been fun. However, confinement was an opportunity for her to successfully rehabilitate her writing gesture.

We often hear that beyond primary school, it is too late for re-education in writing. However, the issue raised depends much more on the nature of the difficulties than on the age of the person. We even observe very often that the re-education of writing is rapid and effective in adolescents or young adults who are strongly involved.

Personal motivation, a winning asset to change writing

It was a new professional challenge that prompted Nolwenn to undertake writing remediation at La Manuscrite in Nouméa. Endowed with incredible determination, Nolwenn had a specific objective: to be able to write – within two months – a high-quality handwritten application file. Only two sessions were necessary for Nolwenn to achieve his goal. And even beyond, since his candidacy was accepted!

Intense training is necessary for the automation of the gesture

In addition to a clear goal, Nolwenn has chosen her schedule to rehabilitate. Met just before confinement, she took advantage of this period at home to train for thirty minutes every day. Thus, thanks to the regularity of her work, she took on new writing habits. She corrected her posture, adopted an effective pencil outfit and rectified her support. His writing gesture is now fast, readable and above all comfortable.

Posture and pencil holding are also relearned in adulthood

Like many students, Nolwenn was unaware that you had to tilt your support to write. She kept her sheet straight, facing her, and broke her wrist 1 on the writing line. She held her pencil with four fingers, very close to the mine, with excessive pressure on the middle finger. Unsurprisingly, Nolwenn’s writing was laborious and painful. His speed barely exceeded that of a 5th grader, but today his movement is flexible and quick.

Cursive writing is traced in a continuous movement

Nolwenn’s writing gesture was also interrupted by unnecessary pencil lifts. Now, cursive writing 2 is writing drawn “by handwriting”. The letters combine with each other in a fluid movement. Nolwenn had great writing potential but no way to let it run on paper. We therefore worked on the rhythm and continuity of the gesture as well as on the formation of certain letters.

Handwriting progress of an adult woman after a graphopaedagogy session.

After a session of graphopedagogy and 30 minutes of daily training for a month, Nolwenn’s writing is more regular, his gesture comfortable.

Two sessions later: writing speed has increased by 20 letters per minute, readability is incomparable. It remains for Nolwenn to continue his work on the supports and the movement of the arm to “ventilate” his writing.

We find here all the ingredients not of a dysgraphia but of an incomplete initial learning. Paper position, pencil holding, letter formation are not innate gestures. Unconscious in adults, they are nevertheless the result of rigorous learning that must be carried out from the start of primary school. It is only once in college, after years of practice in writing, that students begin to automate their graphomotor gesture. It therefore takes time and a lot of practice to become a good writer.

The teaching of handwriting is prepared from kindergarten with the learning of good pencil holding.

The learning of writing is prepared from kindergarten with specific teaching of holding a pencil. Here, this tall little girl does not hold her tool correctly.

Teaching handwriting, an educational emergency

As we have seen, improving your handwriting is still possible in adulthood. However, we know that writing facilitates learning. Writing well helps to read well, strengthens memorization, structures thought, frees creativity. Conversely, a poor command of handwriting in primary school is often correlated with a difficult school career. It is therefore urgent to restore all its place to the teaching of handwriting in our school system.

1 – Broken wrist: This position is also found in left-handed people who have not learned to shift and tilt their sheet: shift to the left to move the sheet away from the chest, tilt to the right, in line with the arm, to place hand under the writing line. Straight sheets and notebook, encourage left-handed children to break the wrist above the writing line to see what they are writing and not to smudge the ink.

2 – Cursive writing: from the Latin currere which means to run, a writing drawn “by hand”.

This book was written by a graphopedagogue, former school teacher and founding member of the 5E association (Teaching of Writing for Pupils, Students and Teachers). Extremely clear and abundantly illustrated, “Writing well and loving writing” is intended for teachers, educators, parents, as well as paramedical professionals who remedy writing disorders. A few private remedial lessons in writing can overcome many difficulties.
