The junior will depart after roughly four years with the Horned Frogs.

TCU junior guard Knisha Godfrey will reportedly enter the transfer portal after roughly four years with the Horned Frogs. The 5-foot-9 guard from Columbus, Ohio started her career at Mississippi State before transferring to TCU after one season with the Bulldogs. Godfrey appeared in 26 games with 13 starts as a freshman, averaging 4.4 points and 1.7 rebounds during the 2022-23 campaign, which was TCU’s last under head coach Raegan Pebley. Godfrey used a redshirt for the 2023-24 season and saw action in 15 games during the 2024-25 campaign, averaging 1.7 points and 0.9 rebounds on 6.2 minutes per game.

Godfrey is the first transfer portal departure for the Horned Frogs, who recently concluded a magical season with an Elite Eight appearance and a 34-4 overall record. Godfrey scored a season-high five points during TCU’s win over Samford on Dec. 17, 2024. As a high school prospect, Godfrey was rated as the No. 40 player in the country and the No. 8 point guard in the 2021 class, according to espnW. Godfrey appeared in two games at Mississippi State.

The Horned Frogs defeat the Roadrunners 5-4 to move to 22-8 on the season.

Cole Cramer delivered a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning to help the TCU baseball team clinch a 5-4 walk-off win over UTSA in midweek action Tuesday evening. Six Horned Frogs combined to strike out 10 Roadrunner batters, with righty Cohen Feser firing the final three frames to earn his first win of the season. TCU (22-8, 5-4 Big 12) has won six of its last seven games and will continue conference play against BYU this weekend.

Trever Baumler started for the Horned Frogs and threw a scoreless first inning, striking out one batter. TCU took the lead in the bottom of the second inning, where Anthony Silva scored on a wild pitch to spark a three-run frame that included an RBI groundout from Sam Myers and an RBI single from Preston Gamster. The Roadrunners earned one run back in the top of the third inning before taking the lead with three runs in the top of the fifth inning.

Isaac Cadena evened the score in the bottom of the fifth inning, crushing a solo homer over the right-field wall on a 2-2 pitch. UTSA nearly broke the game open in the top of the sixth inning, but back-to-back clutch strikeouts from lefty Gianluca Shinn left the bases loaded. Feser took over on the mound in the seventh inning and held the Roadrunners to one hit while striking out three batters. Karson Bowen sparked TCU’s walk-off win with a double in the bottom of the ninth inning. Jack Arthur entered as a pinch runner, advancing to third on a passed ball before Cramer’s sacrifice fly brought him home to seal the TCU victory.

In a game that was always going to be a defensive rock fight with a battle of the bigs in the paint as TCU’s Sedona Prince was matched up against the Texas star Madison Booker, it was the Longhorns forward that won that war, as the game’s leading scorer with 18 points. Prince was able to block a shot and grab nine rebounds, but could only produce four points before fouling out with over six minutes remaining in regulation. The Longhorns owned the paint all game, scoring 24 points at the rim and earned 12 second chance points thanks to 11 offensive rebounds.

The Texas defense was impenetrable all night. TCU made just 12 shots from the field, shooting a brutal 26.7%, both season lows by a wide margin. With the ‘Horns owning the paint, it was going to be the Frogs’ three-point proficiency that would have delivered an advantage, but TCU shot 20% from beyond the arc, making the comeback efforts exceedingly difficult. The Horned Frogs also committed a season-high 21 turnovers as the Texas swarming defense forced TCU into bad decisions including multiple 5-second in-bound violations, 10-second backcourt violations, and shot-clock violations while also taking nine steals & generating nine fast break points

TCU dug itself into a hole early, going over five and a half minutes into the game before making its first field goal and only made three shots during the period, however two of them were from long range. The Frogs’ defense was equally stifling to open the game, preventing Texas to get anything going in the halfcourt, however the ‘Horns were able to score most of its 13 first quarter points off of fast break or turnover.

Similar to the Sweet Sixteen game vs. Notre Dame, the Horned Frogs had taken some brutal punches to open the contest but were able to get up off the mat and continue the fight. In the 2nd quarter the Longhorns were able to extend its advantage as large as nine points as TCU sustained long stretches with no scoring. With both offenses held off the scoreboard for over three minutes, the Frogs finally broke free over the final minute of the half, scoring seven straight points to bring the game to a halftime margin of just two points.

It was a back-and-forth affair to open the second half as the teams traded baskets before a pair of Emma-Nnopu free throws evened the score at 29 midway through the 3rd quarter. The Longhorns’ physical play was making life difficult for the TCU offense as the Frogs could only get two shots to fall in the period, but were able to draw the officials’ attention, drawing seven fouls and shooting a perfect 8-8 from the free throw line. However Texas simply had an answer - and then some - for every moment. Madison Booker put the team on her back for eight points while the ‘Horns shot just under 50% from the field for an offensive explosion in its best quarter of the game to push its lead back to nine.

Madison Conner opened the 4th quarter with a bang, splashing home a three-pointer that looked to be the spark needed for the Frogs to keep the game within reach. However consecutive TCU turnovers leading to easy buckets, including a killer and-one conversion from Kyla Oldacre delivered a double digit advantage for the Longhorns that would prove insurmountable. With Prince fouled out, Deasia Merrill provided a spark for TCU, blocking shots, grabbing rebounds, and scoring four points to reach the 1,000 point milestone for her career. Merrill’s lay-in capped an 8-0 run and TCU clawed its way back to a six point margin with under three minutes to play. The next Texas possession featured multiple second-chance opportunities before Madison Booker delivered the final nail in the coffin with a midrange jumper on the under-basket out-of-bounds play, putting the game out of reach. The incredible season that had captivated the nation had come to a close, but the names will be etched in Horned Frogs lore forever, adding new banners to Schollmaier Arena and setting a new standard for greatness at TCU.

A former Kansas transfer and four-star high school recruit, Udeh Jr. has started 59 games over the last two seasons and averaged 6.6 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game for the Horned Frogs during the 2024-25 campaign. Udeh Jr. becomes the fourth TCU player to leave this offseason, following guards Frankie Collins and Vasean Allette as well as redshirt freshman forward Isaiah Manning.

Udeh Jr. recorded six double-doubles for the Horned Frogs this season. The junior from Orlando, Florida scored 16 points and grabbed 15 rebounds during TCU’s upset win over Baylor on Jan. 19. Udeh Jr. also posted 16 points and 11 rebounds when the Horned Frogs defeated UCF on March 1. An All-Big 12 Honorable Mention this season, Udeh Jr. was a bright spot during a disappointing 2024-25 campaign for head coach Jamie Dixon and the Horned Frogs, who went 16-16 overall and failed to qualify for the NCAA Tournament.

The Horned Frogs are again significant underdogs as the marketplace and oddsmakers continue to doubt TCU throughout its postseason run. With a spot in the Final Four in the line, the upstart underdogs will have to overcome the odds as it has much of the season. While the last game was a battle of elite guard play, this contest will be determined by the bigs in the paint. Madison Booker & Taylor Jones are an elite front court pair that will prove a major challenge to Sedona Prince. The ‘Horns are elite on the offensive glass, ranking 2nd nationally in OREB rate, generating an abundance of second chance opportunities even when shots aren’t falling. For TCU, the advantage is in its shot selection and efficiency. The Frogs are deadly from beyond the arc, but also rank top 10 nationally in 2-point percentage. TCU has the firepower to keep pace with the Longhorns; while fair to have the one-seed favored, this one should be a terrific contest between two superb squads and should play closer than this spread for most of the game.

Van Lith has been on fire in the postseason for the Horned Frogs and her projects continue to climb. While she is certainly capable of dropping another 20-piece, look for Texas to close her off and close off the paint to Price, leaving Conner as the primary open target and most likely to exceed the point projection. The question for the Frogs will be whether it’s another contest with scoring coming primarily from the Big Three or if the wealth gets spread to Hunter, Emma-Nnopu, and others. TCU will likely need a full team effort to overcome the Longhorns and should be projected to get everyone involved.

Rori Harmon is vastly underrated by the marketplace as a scorer. While she is certainly a dynamic true point guard creating for her teammates, and is averaging just 7 points per game in the NCAA Tournament, but averaged 10.7 in the SEC Tournament, including 14 in the Final vs. South Carolina. Even though the Frogs were able to stifle the Notre Dame guards in the last contest, look for Harmon to find some success. Projections for Booker and Jones basically match their season-long averages, so tough to pick either to perhaps fall below vs. the Frogs as each have been solidly dominant throughout the postseason.

The Frogs will take on the Longhorns at 6 p.m. tonight with a chance to advance to the Final Four.

TCU Women’s Basketball advanced to the Elite Eight for the first time in program history with a win over Notre Dame on Saturday by a score of 71-62. The Frogs are now set to take on the top-seeded Texas Longhorns with a trip to the Final Four on the line. The Longhorns are favored by 7.5 points by Vegas, but the Frogs are no strangers to being doubted, as they took down Notre Dame as a 7.5-point underdog in the Sweet Sixteen.

Team Overview

Texas has been one of the top teams in college basketball all season with an overall record of 34-3. The Longhorns finished tied for the top of the SEC with South Carolina with an impressive conference record of 15-1. Texas took down the sixteen seed, William and Mary, in the first round by a score of 105-61, the eight seed, Illinois, in round two by a score of 65-48, and the four seed, Tennessee, in the Sweet Sixteen by a score of 67-59 to make it to the matchup with the Horned Frogs.

The defense from Texas has been excellent in the NCAA Tournament, holding all three opponents to below 40% shooting from the field. The performance against Tennessee was especially impressive, as the Longhorns held the Lady Vols to 37.9% shooting from the field and 19.2% shooting from three. Texas also forced 18 Tennessee turnovers, which resulted in 19 points off those turnovers for the Longhorns. The one aspect of the Texas defense that struggled against the Lady Vols was defensive rebounding. Tennessee collected 17 offensive rebounds against Texas compared to just nine offensive boards from the Longhorns. Expect TCU to crash the offensive glass hard against the Longhorns to create extra possessions.

TCU will be playing against one of the best offenses in the nation in the Longhorns as they average 79.3 points per game, which ranks 16th in the nation. The Longhorns do not rely on the three-point shot for their scoring, shooting just 29.6% from beyond the arc this season and averaging around ten three-point attempts per game as a team, which ranks 350th in the nation. The Horns have solid ball movement and average 16.4 assists per game as a team, which ranks 35th in the nation.

While Texas is not a heavy outside shooting team, they excel at scoring in the paint and drawing contact to get to the free throw line, averaging 21.94 free throw attempts per game, ranking tenth in the nation. A key for the Frogs will be to defend without fouling in the paint, as TCU has a short bench and cannot afford for important players to get into foul trouble.

Texas is a very solid defensive team, with opponents scoring just 55.8 points per game against them this season. The Longhorns do a good job limiting three-point shooting by opposing teams, as opponents are making just 28% of their shots from deep against UT this season.

Key Players

Sophomore Madison Booker leads Texas in scoring at 16.4 points per game, along with 6.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. Booker has had a very good NCAA Tournament so far with 20 points and 14 rebounds in the first round, 20 points and six rebounds against Illinois, and 17 points and six rebounds against Tennessee.

The leading rebounder for the Longhorns this season has been Taylor Jones, who is averaging 12.3 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game this season. Jones was impactful on both ends of the floor against Tennessee with 12 points, eight rebounds, three blocks, and one steal against the Lady Vols.

Guard Rori Harmon leads Texas in assists this season with averages of 9.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game. Harmon has had at least a 2:1 assist-to-turnover ratio in each of the three NCAA Tournament games this postseason.

Overall

Texas presents a much different challenge than Notre Dame did, with the Longhorns doing most of their damage from the paint compared to the three-point barrage from the Fighting Irish. Sedona Prince and Agnes Emma-Nnopu will both need to play well defensively to limit UT’s scoring and to stay out of foul trouble. I think TCU has the three point shooting potential to outscore Texas and the defensive structure to hold up against the Longhorn offense.

Final Prediction: TCU 72, Texas 68

TCU and Texas are tied for the NCAA lead in total wins.

The Horned Frogs and Longhorns boast an identical win percentage (.919). The figure trails only No. 1 overall seed UCLA (.943) for the national lead.

The programs are colliding for the 57th time and first in postseason play.

Hailey Van Lith ousted the Longhorns from the 2023 NCAA Tournament. She scored 21 points to lead Louisville past Texas, 73-51, in Austin in the round of 32.

Sedona Prince spent her freshman season at Texas in 2018-19. She committed to the Longhorns in the eighth grade circa 2014.

Mark Campbell and Vic Schaefer are coaching against one another in the Elite Eight for the second time. Campbell helped lead Oregon past Mississippi State and to its first Final Four in the 2019 NCAA Portland Regional final during his tenure as associate head coach in Eugene. Both Campbell and Schaefer were in their penultimate seasons on the sidelines at their respective institutions.

FROG FOCUS

TCU’s combined 26-game year-over win improvement over the last two seasons is the largest of any Power Conference team.

The Horned Frogs’ 34 wins are tied for the fourth-most in a season by a Big 12 Conference team. TCU is also the first Big 12 team not named Baylor to win 34 games or more in a season.

The Frogs have won five straight games over ranked teams and are one of just six programs nationwide to do so in 2024-25.

TCU has led at halftime in 34 of its 37 games, second only to UConn across the national ranks.

TCU’s’ 13-game winning streak is the second-longest in program history, trailing only their run of 14 straight victories to begin the Mark Campbell era in 2023-24.

The Horned Frogs lead the nation in 3-pointers (350).

TCU’s 662 threes over the last two seasons are the most ever by a Big 12 team in a two-year period and are the third-most of any D1 program since 2023.

The Frogs are the only team in the nation ranking in the top 10 in 3-pointers, 3-point percentage (6th, .380) and 3-pointers per game (9th, 9.5).

TCU is the only team remaining in March Madness with five players who have drained at least 30 three-pointers; Madison Conner (127), Hailey Van Lith (65), Agnes Emma-Nnopu (48), Taylor Bigby (32) and Donovyn Hunter (32).

TCU has reached double figures in 3-pointers in 18 games this season, the second-most of any team, and 34 times overall in the Campbell era.

TCU has had four players score in double figures in 15 games. The Horned Frogs are undefeated this season and 24-1 under Campbell when four players finish with 10-plus points.

Hailey Van Lith, Madison Conner and Sedona Prince teamed up to score 60 points vs. the Fighting Irish. The trio has combined for 60-plus in nine games, leading TCU to a 9-0 record in such games.

TCU boasts the nation’s sixth-best assist-to-turnover ratio (1.53). The Frogs are also one of three teams ranking in the top 10 in assist-to-turnover ratio, assists (5th, 688) and assists per game (8th, 18.6).

The Frogs dished out 20-plus assists for the 16th time this season in its round of 32 win victory over Louisville. TCU ranks fifth nationally in games with at least 20 assists (16).

TCU scored 74 points per game vs. Big 12 opposition after averaging 62.2 in 2023-24. The +11.8 points per game increase in league play was the sixth-largest in all of Division I basketball.

TCU’s eight senior or graduate level players average 63.9 combined points per game. The net senior scoring average ranks seventh among all D1 programs and first at the Power Conference level.

TCU shot 50 percent from the field (22-44) in Saturday’s win over Notre Dame. The Horned Frogs have connected at or above a 50 percent clip in three straight games and 18 times this season.

The Horned Frogs are one of only two teams in Big 12 history to capture a league title within two seasons of finishing in last place.

TCU is the sole team at the Power Conference level to win both an undisputed regular season league title and conference tournament championship.

TCU’s jump of 10 regular season conference victories from last season (seven) to this season (19) is the largest in Division I basketball.

TCU inspired a 65.5 percent increase in total fan attendance from the 2023-24 season. The Frogs increased their cumulative attendance figure by 29,332 fans. A total of 74,138 fans flocked to Schollmaier Arena compared to 44,806 last season.
