These storage solutions can be made of wood, metal, or plastic and are crafted to conceal bins while allowing easy access for daily use. They come in a variety of styles and sizes to suit different types of outdoor spaces, from compact urban patios to larger suburban gardens.

Why Do You Need Wheelie Bin Storage?

Enhance Aesthetic Appeal:
Exposed bins can make your outdoor area look untidy. A wheelie bin storage unit keeps your bins out of sight, creating a clean, polished look for your driveway, garden, or patio.

Improve Organization:
With designated spaces for each bin, storage units help keep your waste and recycling bins neat and orderly.

Protect Against Wildlife:
Bins left out in the open can attract animals such as foxes, rodents, or birds. A lockable storage unit keeps your bins secure and prevents pests from spreading waste.

Reduce Odours:
Many bin storage units feature ventilation slits or panels that promote airflow, minimizing unpleasant smells while keeping the bins enclosed.

Weather Protection:
Harsh weather can tip over bins or fill them with water. A storage unit shields your bins from wind, rain, and other elements, keeping them clean and secure.

Boost Security:
Lockable storage options deter tampering or unauthorized access to your bins, which can be a concern in some areas.

Types of Wheelie Bin Storage

Wooden Bin Stores:

Appearance: Rustic and natural, they blend well with gardens and outdoor spaces.

Durability: Often made from treated wood for weather resistance.

Customization: Can be painted or stained to match your outdoor décor.

Ideal For: Gardens, driveways, and patios with a classic aesthetic.

Metal Bin Stores:

Appearance: Sleek and modern, ideal for contemporary homes.

Durability: Extremely weather-resistant and long-lasting.

Security: Sturdy construction and often include locking mechanisms.

Ideal For: Urban settings or areas requiring extra security.

Plastic Bin Stores:

Appearance: Lightweight and low-maintenance with various color options.

Durability: Resistant to rust, rot, and UV rays.

Affordability: A budget-friendly option.

Ideal For: Smaller spaces or temporary solutions.

Multi-Bin Units:

Functionality: Designed to house two or more bins in one unit.

Convenience: Great for separating general waste, recycling, and garden waste.

Ideal For: Larger households or properties with multiple bins.

Choosing the Right Wheelie Bin Storage

When selecting the right storage solution for your bins, consider the following:

Bin Size: Ensure the unit accommodates the size and number of bins you use, typically ranging from 120L to 360L.

Space: Measure your outdoor area to ensure the unit fits comfortably without obstructing pathways.

Material: Choose a material that suits your style, budget, and maintenance preferences.

Accessibility: Look for features like lift-up lids, gas-assisted hinges, and easy-to-open doors for convenience.

Ventilation: Opt for units with ventilation slits to prevent odours from building up.

Locking Mechanism: If security is a concern, choose a model with lockable doors or lids.

Maintaining Your Wheelie Bin Storage

Clean Regularly: Wash down your storage unit with soapy water to remove dirt and grime.

Inspect for Damage: Check for signs of wear, such as rust on metal units or rot on wooden ones, and address issues promptly.

Repaint or Re-treat: Wooden units may need occasional re-treatment to maintain their weather resistance.

Keep It Secure: Ensure the unit is properly anchored or weighted, especially in windy conditions.

Benefits of Adding Wheelie Bin Storage to Your Home

Wheelie bin storage doesn’t just hide unsightly bins—it improves the functionality and appearance of your outdoor space. It helps you stay organized, keeps wildlife out, and protects your bins from harsh weather. Plus, with the variety of styles available, you can find a unit that complements your home’s aesthetic while adding convenience to your daily routine.

By investing in a high-quality wheelie bin storage solution, you’re not only creating a more attractive outdoor space but also adding value to your property. It’s a simple upgrade that makes a significant difference.

4o

A Guide to Buying Garden Furniture: Timing Your Purchase for the Best Deals

With the wide range of outdoor furniture brands and options available, choosing the right pieces for your garden can feel overwhelming. From style and design to cost, durability, and quality, it’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of seasonal sales and promotional offers.

At Gardens World, we’re here to help you navigate the decision-making process, providing insights into the best times to buy garden furniture. By understanding the seasonal sales cycle and weighing the pros and cons of each buying period, you’ll be equipped to make a smart purchase when the time is right.

The Seasonal Garden Furniture Sale Cycle

In the UK, our unpredictable climate means that outdoor furniture is often used only during the warmer months, making it a seasonal purchase for many homeowners. As a result, retailers often time their sales around these fluctuations in demand.

This cycle is divided into two main phases: in-season and out-of-season.

Typically, out-of-season sales (which occur between October and January) offer the best deals. Retailers know that demand is lower during these months, so they use discounts and offers to encourage purchases when fewer people are buying.

Key Considerations Before Buying Garden Furniture

While sales can be a great opportunity to save money, it’s important to watch out for a few potential pitfalls. When buying garden furniture, keep these tips in mind:

Discounts over 30% – If a price reduction is too steep, the original price may have been inflated, or the item may be discontinued or out of stock. Be cautious of sales that seem “too good to be true.”

Flash Sales – These time-limited offers can create a sense of urgency, but they often reset, so don’t rush into buying without considering your options.

Do your research – If the furniture you like is available from multiple retailers, compare prices. You may find better deals elsewhere, or even discover exclusive discounts.

When Is the Best Time to Buy Garden Furniture?

The timing of your purchase will depend on your specific needs and priorities. Here’s what you should consider when deciding whether to buy in or out of season:

In Season: When Immediate Availability Matters

If you’ve left it to the last minute to furnish your garden, buying in season might be the best option for you. When summer is around the corner and your garden needs furniture to enjoy the sunshine, demand for garden furniture will be high, which may lead to higher prices. However, the benefit of buying in season is immediate availability. You’ll be able to pick up or have your furniture delivered right away, ready to use as soon as the weather turns warm.

Additionally, you won’t have to worry about storing furniture during the colder months—your new pieces will be ready to enjoy when the sunshine arrives.

Out of Season: Save Money & Secure Higher Quality

For those who plan ahead, buying out of season can offer several advantages. During the off-season, you’ll likely find better prices, thanks to post-season discounts and sales events. Moreover, many retailers produce garden furniture to order during the off-season, meaning the quality is often higher as they don’t rely on mass production and overstock.

While it may take longer to receive your furniture, if you time your purchase well, you could have your new garden setup ready by the time the warmer months arrive.

This month we’re taking a closer look at how to remove tree sap from outdoor furniture. We’ve got some great tips and tricks for safely removing it from metal, wood, plastic and outdoor fabrics such as parasols and cushions.

We’ve had a couple of emails and messages on social media over the last few months asking us how to remove tree sap from outdoor furniture. I think it worries a lot of people because both tacky or dried on, it sticks, fast, and can at first feel impossible to remove.

Positioning outdoor furniture under a tree is common, and a great place for it to go if you want to create a little natural shade. However, many varieties of trees can drop sap and that can get stuck on the surface/paintwork.

Our metal outdoor furniture is made of tough stuff and has a painted protective coating. However, try picking or scraping the sap off, and you run the risk of scratching or chipping it.

Fortunately, we have a number of tips and tricks you can use to remove it safely without causing any damage. And not just for our metal outdoor furniture too...

In this article, we will look at how you can also remove it from the other popular outdoor furniture materials, garden parasols and outdoor fabrics such as cushions, loungers and awnings.

Our team have compiled our favourite outdoor furniture lighting tips so that you can pair them with our garden tables and comfortably stay on your patio long after the sun sets.

During the summer we want to make the most of our outdoor furniture. Use it as much as we can and as often as we can. And one of the best ways to do this is to extend its use into the evening when the sun goes down.

The big problem here is that even in the peak summer months, the temperature will often still dip in the UK and, once the sun drops, there’s usually not enough light to continue using our furniture.

Fortunately, there’s a whole host of solutions to keep your patio area warm from gas heaters and fire pits to wrapping up in a nice outdoor blanket but they're for another article.

Lighting on the other hand can be a little more tricky to get right though... You want something that illuminates the space enough to keep it safe to use but subtle enough that it doesn’t ruin the relaxing ambience. As a general rule, we often find that less is more when it comes to garden lighting but keep it flexible.

You want the lighting to be subtle for relaxation but have the option to go brighter if you need task light to say cook a BBQ.

If you want to make your garden a sanctuary, then the Gardens World has compiled our favourite design features to help you create a space that is sure to calm and relax...

The concept of our gardens as a sanctuary is one we touched on in our recent outdoor furniture trends for the summer 2023 article. I suppose you could argue that by its very nature a garden is a sanctuary but do we all set it up and use it in such a way that it helps us unwind?

One of the few positives to come out of the COVID pandemic was a greater appreciation of our outdoor spaces. We lead busy lives but the pandemic stopped many of us in our tracks and, well, gave us more time to stop and smell the roses. It saw us looking at ways we can maximise the use of our outdoor spaces, and it didn’t matter if our garden was a large country plot or a small urban balcony, we were seeking to use them for relaxation, dining and escape.

A sanctuary is defined as, among other uses of the word, a place of refuge and protection. And that is very much what they've become during the pandemic and beyond.
