We’re not stopping yet. Let’s keep going.</p><p>“We have a fundraising goal to meet for the education of African children around the world. This is our why – the reason we are doing this.</p><p>“Let’s demonstrate to the world the incredible power of love. Together, we can make this happen.</p><p>Onakoya broke the record of Norwegian players Hallvard Haug Flatebø and Sjur Ferkingstad, who played for 56-hour, 9-minute in 2018 and aimed at reaching 58 hours target.</p><p>The challenge, which is underway at New York City’s iconic Times Square, has currently exceeded 56 hours and a few minutes and already set him adrift the previous record holders.</p><p>The new record holder said his attempt was to raise funds and awareness for providing educational opportunities to underprivileged children across Africa.</p><p>In a statement by his foundation, Chess in Slums Africa, Onakoya said he will be joined by his US counterpart, Shawn Martinez.</p><p>It read in part, “This record attempt requires a team of two players. Tunde Onakoya (NG) will be facing off against Shawn Martinez (US) for the challenge. Both players hold the title of National Masters.</p><p>“Shawn Martinez, a US National Master, renowned New York City chess legend, and chess coach, poses as a formidable adversary. Both Tunde Onakoya and Shawn Martinez will hold the record title.”</p><p>“This record is for the longest time to continuously play chess. This record is to be mentioned in hours, minutes, and seconds. Gatekeepers News reports that this is a decline of N91.1 since the previous reduction on April 10th, which is the longest the customs exchange rate has stayed at a particular rate […]]]></description> <content:encoded><![CDATA[<div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;" class="sharethis-inline-share-buttons" ></div><h5>The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has rannounced a reduction of the exchange rate for import duties collection from N1238.1 to the dollar to N1,147/$.</h5><p><a href="http://gatekeepersnews.com"><b>Gatekeepers News</b></a> reports that this is a decline of N91.1 since the previous reduction on April 10th, which is the longest the customs exchange rate has stayed at a particular rate in recent times.</p><p>The NCS, through the CBN, has consistently fixed the exchange rate to reflect the official market rate on the NAFEM window, which explains the regular changes in the rate.</p><p>The naira has been strengthening significantly in the past month in both the official and parallel market, thanks to the reforms instituted by the CBN.</p><p>Some of these reforms include selling USD to BDCs at N1101/$, cash pooling for IOCs, which limited the amount of FX they could repatriate immediately, among others.</p><p>Consequently, the value of the naira has gained significantly, and Goldman Sachs analysts predict that it will be one of the best-performing currencies globally.</p><p>The President of the Association of Bureau De Change Operators (ABCON), in an interview, stated that BDC operators were buying dollars at N980/$, a figure far below the FX rate on the official window.</p><p>However, many have accused the apex bank of defending the naira with the country’s foreign reserve on the back of observed declines in the FX reserve.</p><p>Nigeria’s foreign reserve has dropped by over $2 billion in the past month, with the FX reserve dropping from $34.45 billion to $32.29 billion, the lowest in about six years.</p><p>Nonetheless, the Governor of the CBN, Yemi Cardoso, has noted in an engagement during the World Bank-IMF spring summit that the bank does not intend to defend the naira. The exchange rate between the Naira and the US dollar according to the […]]]></description> <content:encoded><![CDATA[<div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;" class="sharethis-inline-share-buttons" ></div><p><strong>Find below, the Dollar to Naira exchange rate for today,</strong> 20 April <strong>2024.</strong></p><p><a href="https://gatekeepersnews.com/"><strong>Gatekeepers News</strong></a> has obtained the official <strong>dollar to the naira exchange rate in Nigeria today</strong>, including the Bureau De Change (BDC) rate and CBN rates.</p><p>What Is The Official Exchange Rate For Dollar To Naira Today?</p><p>The <strong>exchange rate</strong> between the <strong>Naira and the US dollar</strong> according to the data released on the <strong><a href="https://fmdqgroup.com/exchange/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">FMDQ Security Exchange</a>,</strong> the official forex trading portal showed that the <strong>Naira opened at ₦1138.82 per $1 on Thursday, April 18, 2024</strong><strong>, and closed at ₦1169.99 </strong><strong>per $1 on Friday</strong><strong>, April 19, 2024.</strong></p><p>However, the <strong>Naira is trading as high as ₦1,230 per Dollar at the black market</strong> even though the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) announced the unification of all segments of the foreign exchange market.</p><p>The apex bank, had in a circular on Wednesday 14th June 2023, said all <strong>FX windows</strong> were now collapsed into the investors & exporters (I&E) window.</p><p>The statement read, “Abolishment of segmentation. All segments are now collapsed into the Investors and Exporters (I&E) window. Applications for medicals, school fees, BTA/PTA, and SMEs would continue to be processed through deposit money banks.</p><p>“Re-introduction of the “Willing Buyer, Willing Seller” model at the <strong>I&E Window</strong>. Operations in this window shall be guided by the extant circular on the establishment of the window, dated 21 April 2017, and referenced FM/DIR/CIR/GEN/08/007. All eligible transactions are permitted to access foreign exchange at this window.</p><p>“The operational rate for all government-related transactions shall be the weighted average rate of the preceding day’s executed transactions at the I&E window, calculated to two (2) decimal places.</p><p>“Proscription of trading limits on oversold FX positions with permission to hedge short positions with OTC futures. Limits on overbought positions shall be zero.</p><p>“Re-introduction of order-based two-way quotes, with bid-ask spread of N1.
