  71. <p><a href="http://gatekeepersnews.com"><b>Gatekeepers News</b></a> reports that the chestmaster confirmed this in a post on his official X account.</p>
  72. <p>He wrote, “We have done it.</p>
  73. <p>“We’re pushing to 60 hours guys. We’re not stopping yet. Let’s keep going.</p>
  74. <p>“We have a fundraising goal to meet for the education of African children around the world. This is our why – the reason we are doing this.</p>
  75. <p>“Let’s demonstrate to the world the incredible power of love. Together, we can make this happen.</p>
  76. <p>Onakoya broke the record of Norwegian players Hallvard Haug Flatebø and Sjur Ferkingstad, who played for 56-hour, 9-minute in 2018 and aimed at reaching 58 hours target.</p>
  77. <p>The challenge, which is underway at New York City’s iconic Times Square, has currently exceeded 56 hours and a few minutes and already set him adrift the previous record holders.</p>
  78. <p>The new record holder said his attempt was to raise funds and awareness for providing educational opportunities to underprivileged children across Africa.</p>
  79. <p>In a statement by his foundation, Chess in Slums Africa, Onakoya said he will be joined by his US counterpart, Shawn Martinez.</p>
  80. <p>It read in part, “This record attempt requires a team of two players. Tunde Onakoya (NG) will be facing off against Shawn Martinez (US) for the challenge. Both players hold the title of National Masters.</p>
  81. <p>“Shawn Martinez, a US National Master, renowned New York City chess legend, and chess coach, poses as a formidable adversary. Both Tunde Onakoya and Shawn Martinez will hold the record title.”</p>
  82. <p>“This record is for the longest time to continuously play chess. This record is to be mentioned in hours, minutes, and seconds. This record is to be attempted by a team of two players,” it added.</p>
  83. <p>After about 23 hours into the game, Martinez joined to make the new world record.</p>
  84. <p>Meanwhile, Nigerians, including President Bola Tinubu, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Singer Davido, and Adekunle Gold, have all shown support for Onakoya to break the new record.</p>

  99. <p>He stated that this achievement reflects the dedication of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to enhance production from the country’s oil and gas assets by creating a favorable environment for both current and future investors.</p>
  100. <p>Soneye mentioned that oil produced from the OML 85 platform, also known as the Madu Field, will be processed at the joint venture’s Abigail-Joseph Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) unit, which can store up to 800,000 barrels of crude oil.</p>
  101. <p>He pointed out that the Final Investment Decision (FID) for the development of the Madu Field and its adjacent field, Anyala, was made by the NNPC Ltd./First E&amp;P Joint Venture in 2018.</p>
  102. <p>“The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) and its Joint Venture partner in OML 85, First Exploration and Petroleum Development Company Limited (First E&amp;P), have commenced oil production from the asset, also known as Madu Field.</p>
  103. <p>“Production from the field which is located in shallow waters offshore Bayelsa State and operated by First E&amp;P is expected to be at an average of 20,000 barrels per day.</p>
  104. <p>“The achievement is a testament to the commitment of the President Bola Tinubu administration to optimise production from the nation’s oil and gas assets through the provision of an enabling environment for existing and prospective investors,” Soneye said.</p>
  105. <p>Speaking further, Soneye also cited the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd., Mr. Mele Kyari, who described the start of oil production at the Madu Field as a crucial milestone that will help achieve the broader objective of increasing production to drive revenue growth and enhance the national economy.</p>

  120. <p><a href="http://gatekeepersnews.com"><b>Gatekeepers News</b></a> reports that this is a decline of N91.1 since the previous reduction on April 10th, which is the longest the customs exchange rate has stayed at a particular rate in recent times.</p>
  121. <p>The NCS, through the CBN, has consistently fixed the exchange rate to reflect the official market rate on the NAFEM window, which explains the regular changes in the rate.</p>
  122. <p>The naira has been strengthening significantly in the past month in both the official and parallel market, thanks to the reforms instituted by the CBN.</p>
  123. <p>Some of these reforms include selling USD to BDCs at N1101/$, cash pooling for IOCs, which limited the amount of FX they could repatriate immediately, among others.</p>
  124. <p>Consequently, the value of the naira has gained significantly, and Goldman Sachs analysts predict that it will be one of the best-performing currencies globally.</p>
  125. <p>The President of the Association of Bureau De Change Operators (ABCON), in an interview, stated that BDC operators were buying dollars at N980/$, a figure far below the FX rate on the official window.</p>
  126. <p>However, many have accused the apex bank of defending the naira with the country&#8217;s foreign reserve on the back of observed declines in the FX reserve.</p>
  127. <p>Nigeria&#8217;s foreign reserve has dropped by over $2 billion in the past month, with the FX reserve dropping from $34.45 billion to $32.29 billion, the lowest in about six years.</p>
  128. <p>Nonetheless, the Governor of the CBN, Yemi Cardoso, has noted in an engagement during the World Bank-IMF spring summit that the bank does not intend to defend the naira. Rather, the decline in the foreign reserve was due to payment of external debt obligation.</p>

  143. <p>What Is The Official Exchange Rate For Dollar To Naira Today?</p>
  144. <p>The <strong>exchange rate</strong> between the <strong>Naira and the US dollar</strong> according to the data released on the <strong><a href="https://fmdqgroup.com/exchange/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">FMDQ Security Exchange</a>,</strong> the official forex trading portal showed that the <strong>Naira opened at ₦1138.82 per $1 on Thursday, April 18, 2024</strong><strong>, and closed at ₦1169.99 </strong><strong>per $1 on Friday</strong><strong>, April 19, 2024.</strong></p>
  145. <p>However, the <strong>Naira is trading as high as ₦1,230 per Dollar at the black market</strong> even though the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) announced the unification of all segments of the foreign exchange market.</p>
  146. <p>The apex bank, had in a circular on Wednesday 14th June 2023, said all <strong>FX windows</strong> were now collapsed into the investors &amp; exporters (I&amp;E) window.</p>
  147. <p>The statement read, “Abolishment of segmentation. All segments are now collapsed into the Investors and Exporters (I&amp;E) window. Applications for medicals, school fees, BTA/PTA, and SMEs would continue to be processed through deposit money banks.</p>
  148. <p>“Re-introduction of the “Willing Buyer, Willing Seller” model at the <strong>I&amp;E Window</strong>. Operations in this window shall be guided by the extant circular on the establishment of the window, dated 21 April 2017, and referenced FM/DIR/CIR/GEN/08/007. All eligible transactions are permitted to access foreign exchange at this window.</p>
  149. <p>“The operational rate for all government-related transactions shall be the weighted average rate of the preceding day’s executed transactions at the I&amp;E window, calculated to two (2) decimal places.</p>
  150. <p>“Proscription of trading limits on oversold FX positions with permission to hedge short positions with OTC futures. Limits on overbought positions shall be zero.</p>
  151. <p>“Re-introduction of order-based two-way quotes, with bid-ask spread of N1. All transactions shall be cleared by a Central Counter Party (CCP).</p>
  152. <p>“Reintroduction of Order Book to ensure transparency of orders and seamless execution of trades.</p>
  153. <p>“The operational hours of trades shall be from 9 a.m to 4 p.m, Nigeria time.”</p>
  154. <p>The apex noted that further guidance on the operational changes would be communicated to authorized dealers and the general public in due course.</p>
  155. <p>The changes to operations in the country’s <strong>FX market</strong> imply that Nigeria has eased its control of the naira, allowing the local currency to float freely.</p>
  156. <p>Meanwhile, a free-floating exchange rate occurs when a government allows the exchange rate to be determined purely by market forces and there is no attempt to ask the central bank to influence the external value of the exchange rate.</p>
